8.7
Attention to Detail

Attention to detail is on a 1 - 10 scale, and is scored based on the rate, and severity, of errors committed by the clinic according to the patients.

For example, a severe error might be failing to inform a patient of critical information, while a small error might be failing to call a patient with results.

CDC Success Rates

This is the most recent data from the CDC. The CDC cautions that it should not be used to compare doctors and clinics. This data represents the outcomes of IVF cycles when using a person's own eggs.

For more information please see our FAQs.

Where you see a “?” on the chart, a clinic has done fewer than 20 cycles in this category and age range, so the CDC says showing percentages from this small data set would be misleading and unreliable.

[Dr. Kari Sproul von Goeben] is very personable...easily available...Sometimes talks fast but will repeat herself if needed...I can tell she cares about me with the good outcomes and the bad...Had frozen embryos, transferred one, resulted in pregnancy but then miscarriage...Knowledgable about next steps as I am not the typical patient I feel.
Very nice staff. Sees you quickly [at Florida Institute for Reproductive Medicine]...2 locations near me and seems to be available for multiple appointments and times. I was able to see another doctor for treatment when mine wasn't available in the time frame required...They had a discount on FET which was helpful.

Success w/ Doc Too early to know
Be prepared for his cut and dried manner, if you prefer that type of personality (as I do) then he [Dr. Kevin Winslow] is the perfect doctor for you!...only transfer one embryo if PGS tested, otherwise will transfer two of you choose...He is very knowledgeable and gets right to the point. He has a dry sense of humor and candid nature that worked really well for my husband and I. I trust his judgement and expertise. I like how he tells me the truth and is upfront about it, even if it’s not the best news that I want to hear; he has never given us false hope but has provided us with options that were right for us.
Everyone [at FIRM] is helpful and friendly; they work with you on scheduling. Facilities are nice and provide multiple locations. I am pleased overall with the clinic and all employees and staff in my visits. I really like the FIRM and believe they are one of the best available in my area...They only transfer one embryo if PGS tested, otherwise will transfer two of you choose...He [Dr. Winslow] was very clear and upfront with us.

Dr. Duffy is very thorough when explaining the step to diagnose infertility. He will walk through how each process works and why he wants to go a certain route. Due to his thoroughness, he tends to run behind schedule... takes his time to explain each step of the process and asks for your input on next steps. Dr. Duffy gets to know his patients as more than a number on a chart.
The office staff and nurses [at Florida Institute for Reproductive Medicine] are very kind and compassionate. They are very flexible as to which office you may wish to go to. He [Dr. Kevin Winslow] called personally with my husband’s semen analysis results, which I really appreciated! He was always courteous to us and understanding. When we found out I had a blocked tube, he was optimistic and reminded me that we only needed one to get pregnant!... He was very kind to my husband and me. He treated us with respect at each visit and seemed genuinely happy when we conceived!
I got pregnant after my tube test. When I called and told the receptionist [at FIRM-Jacksonville] I had a positive pregnancy test, she seemed genuinely shocked / excited for us! :) We also love that you can see Dr. Winslow at different locations, as well.... He has my husband do a semen analysis first, and told him to start taking CoQ10 once he got the results back. He also had me get my tubes checked, where we learned one may be blocked. I had to stop taking Clomid the month of the tube test.

dr winslow got straight to the point which i appreciated...strengths - he is very knowledgable. i asked a lot of questions and he was able to effectively communicate answers in a way i could understand (im not a dr). he is respectful of your time, i never waited long to see him. he is very personable, he has responded to every christmas card ive sent via a letter...he isnt warm & fuzzy in person and is tactfully blunt; however, he knows what he's doing.
they [nurses at FIRM] are AMAZING. they become your friend. so compassionate and caring. they are organized and return phone calls timely. if you have any concerns, they will get you in to see doctor...ivf was $8500 before meds...no weaknesses, this office is organized and on the ball...the nurses were more compassionate than other clinics.

Dr. Duffy made us feel welcomed to be there and let's us know that he was wishing us luck.Even before I got pregnant he would give me confidence. He did not treat us different because we are a same sex couple
I love the nursing staff [Florida Inst for Reproductive Med] they treated me like family they knew me and my partner name and would approach us like family... I only think the prices could be lower and give discounts to returning patients. I absolutely love this clinic and the staff. Dr. WINSLOW is a very terse communicator. He has a lot of knowledge and his years of practice seem to be a draw to him, but he always seems in a rush. I chose to see him because within FIRM he was at least always on time and I had to go to my appointments while working... He is quick, but only go to him if you are experienced and know what you need to know. He doesn't spend a lot of time explaining anything.
[FL Institute for Reprodcutive Medicine is] Clean office, great space to wait, and the staff often use all the space to protect your privacy and feelings when things get heavy. A weakness is how they stack the schedule, there is sometimes up to a 2 hour wait.... There have been a couple times where things got disorganized and I didn't get calls I was expecting or the wrong kind of appointment was made.

What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Kevin Winslow at Florida Institute for Reproductive Medicine?
He is quick, but only go to him if you are experienced and know what you need to know. He doesn't spend a lot of time explaining anything.
Describe your experience with the nursing staff at Florida Institute for Reproductive Medicine.
They are nice, but always very busy and not super interested in conversation.
Describe your experience with Florida Institute for Reproductive Medicine.
Clean office, great space to wait, and the staff often use all the space to protect your privacy and feelings when things get heavy. A weakness is how they stack the schedule, there is sometimes up to a 2 hour wait.
What specific things went wrong at Florida Institute for Reproductive Medicine?
  • Lost paperwork
  • Lost appointments
  • Failed to call with results
  • Provided conflicting information
Describe the specific things that went wrong at Florida Institute for Reproductive Medicine.
There have been a couple times where things got disorganized and I didn't get calls I was expecting or the wrong kind of appointment was made.

Dr. Duffy always made me feel important. My care and treatment were very individualized.... He was amazing! Throughout the process, I alway understood what to expect. When I became pregnant, he took extreme care to ensure success! I delivered healthy babies in 2009 and I truly believe it is because of him.... My clomid cycles were constantly monitored via ultrasound and if a cycle was unsuccessful, medication was adjusted.
You will always be valued at the clinic [Florida Inst for Repro Med]. The doctors and staff will do everything they can to make sure you get the result you want. They work with you and treat you with dignity. I count my lucky stars I was referred to the office!... The nursing was always available. While it was clear Dr. Duffy was in charge of my treatment, the nurses were here 24/7 for any questions I might have.

He [Dr. Kevin Winslow] was condescending, arrogant and rude. He lied to me about test result- and told me he couldn’t help me. He is the founder of this clinic, and while I’m grateful for FIRM, I would never step another foot inside that office if he was the only Dr available to be seen...
The clinic [FIRM] is warm and comfortable. The downtown location has big comfy couches. The south side location is smaller as most satellite clinics are. The offices generally run on time, but sometimes I’ve experienced much longer wait times that normal- but I think that is to be expected during the unpredictable fertility treatment process...[the nurses are] Always kind, warm, encouraging & empathetic.

I absolutely love him [Dr. Duffy]. You don't meet many doctors that sit down and not rush the process. If I say I'm not interested in that approach he accepts that. He's not pushy. We've went up and down the fertility ladder and I never felt pressured.
It's way too many nurses at the clinic [Florida Institute for Reproductive Medicine] but they are very friendly... He [Dr. Duffy]is awesome!!! He actually listens to everything I say. I've covered so much with him to try to figure out what it could be.

[Dr. Winslow] was great at getting in and out and not making you wait around but I wish there would have been more explanations to certain procedures or follicle scans...Letrozole three tablets and I grew at least three eggs each cycle but I just don’t find they fully matured before we triggered ovulation. We had to use hcg to trigger my ovulation...He was quick to recommend ivf but after our history it made sense
My [FIRM] nurse is amazing always eases the anxiety is like my best friend and support going in there...They’re quick to jump to ivf but that’s because they’ve had so many amazing outcomes with it. They treat you like family and really do care about you. They’re always reassuring and cautious on sensitive subjects but blunt when need be. They helped me through my miscarriage and d and c and i was relieved to have them there.
How was your experience with Kevin Winslow at Florida Institute for Reproductive Medicine?
He was quick to recommend ivf but after our history it made sense. However it is a struggle being in the military with no other source of money and tricare doesn’t cover anything for ivf. I wish and pray we could because we’ve been told by several doctors were amazing candidates for it and doctor Winslow helped ease our minds about it. He did let us continue a couple more cycles of letrozole before moving on but we’re in a waiting period now.

Success w/ Doc Too early to know
Dr. Duffy spent a lot of our consultation getting to know my husband and I. He asked questions that weren’t related to our inability to conceive and made us feel like he was interested in us personally. At my appointments, he always explained things and broke them down for me to better understand. He is very knowledgeable and talks medically, but he really tries to explain it so you can understand.
You must do the online registration before getting an appointment [FL Ins Repro Med]. After you complete the registration they will call you to schedule an appointment. After that, the scheduling is really easy and it is easy to get in (at least for me with no work constraints). ... We began with 100 mg of clomid for 7 days. I had an 18mm follicle on day 12 so I did the trigger shot that night and went in for the IUI on day 14.
How was your experience with Daniel Duffy at Florida Institute for Reproductive Medicine?
Dr. Duffy works hard to help you get pregnant. He tries to figure out what might be causing the issue and find the right treatment to help. After the trigger shot with the first IUI I developed a cyst. He explained everything and showed it to me on the ultrasound. I love that about him. He always includes me on what he is seeing on the screen. I decided to take birth control for 2 weeks to help the cyst shrink. I went back in for another ultrasound and it had shrunk. I will begin clomid on day 3 of my cycle and menopur on days 9-11. The first IUI with him was just clomid. So, this round he wanted to do a little more aggressive meds.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Daniel Duffy at Florida Institute for Reproductive Medicine?
Understand that no treatment is 100%. He will work to figure out the problem, but there are so many unknowns, it’s hard for him to know exactly what the cause of your infertility is. But, he will keep assessing your situation in hopes to find it.

This cycle will include clomid days 3-8 and menopur injectables days 9-11. He would like me to have 3 good follicles, so upping the meds will hopefully help with that.

[Dr. Daniel Duffy] he gave us as much time as we needed with him without rushing us. He answered all of our questions in ways that we were able to understand...he made sure that I felt comfortable before we moved on to the next topic, course of treatment...he worked me into his schedule to make sure that I did not have OHSS...
[nurses of Florida Institute for Reproductive Medicine] They're all very friendly, reassuring, and personable...Scheduling is easy and there is more than one location. Price is beyond fair...resources were always presented to me...Dr. Duffy always went above and beyond. Every time we saw him, he gave us as much time as we needed with him without rushing us..
How was your experience with Daniel Duffy at Florida Institute for Reproductive Medicine?
Honestly, my experience as a patient of Dr. Duffy's is fantastic. Anytime I had a question, he would not hesitate to answer it. When I had concerns he made sure that I felt comfortable before we moved on to the next topic, course of treatment, whatever the case may be. At one point, I was in severe pain and his schedule was booked, but he worked me into his schedule to make sure that I did not have OHSS. If we still lived in FL he would still be our doctor because I have not experienced anyone as passionate and caring as Dr. Duffy.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Daniel Duffy at Florida Institute for Reproductive Medicine?
The one piece of advice I would give a prospective patient of Dr. Duffy is to be completely honest with him. Be honest about your history. Be honest if you're not comfortable with treatment. Be honest if your finances are suffering, because he will do his best to work with you.

All of the nursing staff that I had communications with were fantastic. They're all very friendly, reassuring, and personable. Sometimes call back times may take a while, but that's understandable given the circumstances.
Describe your experience with Florida Institute for Reproductive Medicine.
Scheduling is easy and there is more than one location. Price is beyond fair. Ultimately, I do not feel that there are any "weaknesses" with FIRM. They honestly care about their patients and what they are able to do for their patients. Perhaps my favorite thing about FIRM is that resources were always presented to me not only did the clinic tell me, but they also were able to show me the resources.

She made me feel as if she always remembers my case details...She is friendly and thorough on her explanation of everything. She does have a tendency to talk very fast so it’s sometimes hard to take in everything she is explaining all at once. She seemed to be understanding of my issues. It seems like She is on the lesser aggressive side when it come to treatments.
All of the [Florida Institute for Reproductive Medicine] staff seems very friendly with great personalities...The initial consultation was $100.00. All test besides semen analysis were already done by my gynecologist. The follow up was also $100.00. I have spent about $800-$900 per iui...The clinic is very welcoming and I haven’t had any issues scheduling appointments. They have multiple office which works out well when trying to schedule. All 3 Doctors had a good bedside manner. I’m hoping for a positive outcome with my situation. I haven’t had any bad or negative experiences with this office.

Sometimes when I would ask questions he seemed in a hurry or just like it may have been a stupid question. ... Dr. Winslow does not like fresh so we did not get that option. None of my four embryos made it to frozen transfer so now we just wonder what if had we been given the chance at fresh. ... I did 300 Gonal-F mixed with 2 vials of Menopur and I did those 11 days in my hip at night I did my centride 8 days in my stomach (in the mornings) On the 12th day is when I did my trigger (HCG)
I do have to say that there never was a long wait [at Florida Institute for Repro Med] and I never was actually there long (which I guess could be good or bad). If I ever had to call my nurse and it went to voice mail she was very prompt at getting back to me. ... We just had to call and get the results from my husbands sample. And they never told me what my FSH was nor did they ever explain what my bloodwork was for each time I went.
How was your experience with Kevin Winslow at Florida Institute for Reproductive Medicine?
The doctor who did my egg retrieval told my husband that I would be a great candidate for fresh transfer but Dr. Winslow does not like fresh so we did not get that option. None of my four embryos made it to frozen transfer so now we just wonder what if had we been given the chance at fresh.

Success w/ Doc Too early to know
Dr. Winslow was kind, courteous, and patient with all of questions. He was very thorough in explaining each step of the process and what to expect. He handles a large portion of the visits and calls personally to ensure there are no gaps in communication...Transfer [protocol]: estrace 3 pills twice daily, endometrin 2 inserts twice daily, and PIO 1cc every other morning.
The [FIRM] clinic is open 7-4. So great if you want to speak with someone early, but you need to keep that in mind if you need assistance later. The nurse you have to leave a message for, but they will always cal back the same day...[the nurses] are all competent and compassionate. They return calls the same day. Answering any and all questions.

Dr VG [Kari Sproul von Goeben] is a kind, compassionate, and well educated physician. She's knowledgeable, honest, and concerned about her patients. She explained all of our options and kept me posted throughout each of my procedures.... Dr VG remembers things about your personal life (dog name, etc) it's good to know that shes intetested in and remembers her patients.
The staff [at FL Institue for Reproductive Medicine] needs to ensure they follow up on items. Nurse practitioner are all very helpful. I love that there are multiple offices to select from rather than go down town for every visit. You can usually get an appointment very quickly.... Dr. Winslow is a fantastic doctor who always set clear expectations for us in our treatment. We also appreciated that has willing to adjust course and try different approaches to maximize our success. He customizes his treatment plans to the needs of each patient and takes into account new advances in reproductive medicine...Trust him. Also bring questions and concerns to him. He is willing to listen and talk through your options with you. He is invested in the success of his patients.
I love FIRM. The staff is super kind and knowledgeable. The are very easy to get in touch with, offer flexible scheduling options, and their appointments run on time. I like that they don't do batch treatment like I have heard happen at other clinics. They are a very patient-centric practice...Patty J. and Catherine B. are AMAZING nurses who will forever have a place in my heart. The are so compassionate and kind and also SUPER good at their job. I always felt like they were in my corner cheering me on.
