Dr Abuzeid is one of the most compassionate doctors I have ever met. He explains procedures thoroughly, he has held my hand before procedures, and he speaks to me very honestly and kindly and always gives full disclosure about any risks or failures. He has also let me be an advocate of my own decisions such as waiting on a hysteroscopy.
The [IVF Michigan Rochester Hills & Flint] clinic is open very early which is great for working patients. I did not miss a single day of work during my treatment cycles due to this flexibility. They are also open on weekends and some holidays if need be (I had a scan last year on Memorial Day). I feel some nurses are more competent than others but this is the case with any establishment. I am very happy with my primary nurse and I have always been treated with kindness.

Dr Abuzeid truly cares for his patients and wants them succeed. He offers very reasonable pricing compared to other clinics. He makes you feel relaxed and he understands your emotions when things don’t turn out. Although I am not pregnant yet, I never blame Dr Abuzeid. I trust that he is doing everything he can to make pregnancy successful for me, and only science (and faith) can take over from there. The only setback about the clinic is that he is the one and only doctor, meaning that you only will see him for procedures and treatment plan consultations. This does not bother me, but I know this may not be optimal for some patients.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Mostafa Abuzeid at IVF Michigan Rochester Hills & Flint?
He is a very busy man, so be patient with the clinic. He has a waiting list and treatment cycles take time but I promise that his care is worth the wait!

Describe the protocols Mostafa Abuzeid used in your cycles at IVF Michigan Rochester Hills & Flint and their degree of success.
Being that I have PCOS and was 30 years old at the time, Dr Abuzeid thought it best to try mini IVF. He offered IUI but I declined and wanted to go straight to IVF after doing multiple rounds of Clomid with my regular OBGYN. He thought mini IVF would be best so that I would not get hyper stimulated ovaries. I was mainly on Menopur and Gonal-F injectables. Nearing the end before retrieval, I did take Pregnyl as well. My retrieval occurred May 2021. He declared it a very successful retrieval with 14 eggs, 10 fertilized with ICSI, and 8 made it to blastocyst. Although I opted to not genetically test my embryos (Dr Abuzeid agreed it was not necessary considering my age), he stated that the grading “on paper” of my embryos ranged from good/average (3BB) to perfect 5AA. My fresh transfer was unsuccessful which we attributed to my body possibly not being ready so soon after retrieval. I did have a frozen transfer a few months later (August 2021) where I transferred 2 embryos. This resulted in a chemical pregnancy. Up until this point, I had waived a hysteroscopy with Dr Abuzeid on board with me wanting to try naturally first. He told me he would really prefer to do a hysteroscopy before any future transfers. Now (April 2022), I just underwent a hysteroscopy where he repaired a dip in the roof of my uterus. I will be pursuing another frozen transfer this summer where I again plan to transfer 2 embryos. Dr Abuzeid always discusses risks of multiple embryos but has remained comfortable with my decision.

I’m very glad I’ve been assigned a primary nurse. Erin is very attentive, kind, and down to earth. Any nursing employee that I have encounter at the office has always been kind. Sometimes things have gotten a little miscommunicated, but I think that may have been resolved by using primary nurses now.

Describe the costs associated with your care under Mostafa Abuzeid at IVF Michigan Rochester Hills & Flint.
My insurance covers all office visits, ultrasounds, and billable procedures (subject to my deductible/copays). I paid $4000 for my mini IVF retrieval which included the retrieval and fresh transfer. I paid $300 for anesthesia. I paid around $5000 for medications (purchased elsewhere). I believe frozen transfers cost around $4500 but Dr Abuzeid graciously offered me a discount of $2500 for my previous FET due to personal circumstances. I paid $1100 for the meds for FET and it was $1000 for embryo storage.

Dr Abuzeid always discussed the risks of multiple embryos. He usually recommends one, but was comfortable with my decision of 2 when I did my FET.
