It is hard to describe a man [Dr. Mostafa Abuzeid] that I have not seen nor talked to the 8months that I have been his patient. We started with a consultation that his nurse conducted. I’ve not once talked to him in person, on the phone or through any other means of communication. I’m truly feeling empty, heartbroken and as I have no one to trust going through these treatments.
The [IVF Michigan Rochester Hills & Flint] staff at the Flint office is great. Great communication, compassionate and friendly. Staff in Rochester are rude, unfriendly and treat you like a number instead of a person...There are so many people between both clinics and the nurses run most things. Things are sometimes missed or overlooked, rushed or forgotten.

Ive been undergoing treatment for 8 months and I’ve NEVER even seen the Doctor. Not once. Just nurses.
Describe the protocols Mostafa Abuzeid used in your cycles at IVF Michigan Rochester Hills & Flint and their degree of success.
The first 5 months we decided on a medicated cycle with timed intercourse which I felt comfortable with since that is how we conceived our daughter through RMA Troy in just 2 cycles. Half of the cycles I had ovulated before they even brought me in for my blood work or ultrasound so they were wasted cycles. Only adjustments made we moving tearing up by 1 day. 6 cycles and no pregnancy. We have now moved on to IVF. Our first month was canceled because my progesterone levels were elevated by .05. No reasoning as to why this caused a cancelation. Nurses try to help but they can only tell me so much. It’s been a nightmare and I’m wholeheartedly disappointed in this whole ordeal and if we were not so far into this treatment we would have left a long time ago.

The staff at the Flint office is great. Great communication, compassionate and friendly. Staff in Rochester are rude, unfriendly and treat you like a number instead of a person.

Flint is equipped with ultrasound, bloodwork and hospital is literally in same parking lot. Any procedures that need to be done you must go to Rochester. Staff is only available to do certain things on certain days so you could be traveling to both places depending on timing and what procedures you need done.

Ultrasound and bloodwork are $300 each per visit. $1400 for traditional IVF NOT including, medication, egg freezing, anesthesia, storing of eggs, ultrasound and bloodwork or any other testing

He prefers single embryo transfer for all patients unless you are very young with no other issues.

Dr Abuzeid is one of the most compassionate doctors I have ever met. He explains procedures thoroughly, he has held my hand before procedures, and he speaks to me very honestly and kindly and always gives full disclosure about any risks or failures. He has also let me be an advocate of my own decisions such as waiting on a hysteroscopy.
The [IVF Michigan Rochester Hills & Flint] clinic is open very early which is great for working patients. I did not miss a single day of work during my treatment cycles due to this flexibility. They are also open on weekends and some holidays if need be (I had a scan last year on Memorial Day). I feel some nurses are more competent than others but this is the case with any establishment. I am very happy with my primary nurse and I have always been treated with kindness.

Dr Abuzeid truly cares for his patients and wants them succeed. He offers very reasonable pricing compared to other clinics. He makes you feel relaxed and he understands your emotions when things don’t turn out. Although I am not pregnant yet, I never blame Dr Abuzeid. I trust that he is doing everything he can to make pregnancy successful for me, and only science (and faith) can take over from there. The only setback about the clinic is that he is the one and only doctor, meaning that you only will see him for procedures and treatment plan consultations. This does not bother me, but I know this may not be optimal for some patients.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Mostafa Abuzeid at IVF Michigan Rochester Hills & Flint?
He is a very busy man, so be patient with the clinic. He has a waiting list and treatment cycles take time but I promise that his care is worth the wait!

Describe the protocols Mostafa Abuzeid used in your cycles at IVF Michigan Rochester Hills & Flint and their degree of success.
Being that I have PCOS and was 30 years old at the time, Dr Abuzeid thought it best to try mini IVF. He offered IUI but I declined and wanted to go straight to IVF after doing multiple rounds of Clomid with my regular OBGYN. He thought mini IVF would be best so that I would not get hyper stimulated ovaries. I was mainly on Menopur and Gonal-F injectables. Nearing the end before retrieval, I did take Pregnyl as well. My retrieval occurred May 2021. He declared it a very successful retrieval with 14 eggs, 10 fertilized with ICSI, and 8 made it to blastocyst. Although I opted to not genetically test my embryos (Dr Abuzeid agreed it was not necessary considering my age), he stated that the grading “on paper” of my embryos ranged from good/average (3BB) to perfect 5AA. My fresh transfer was unsuccessful which we attributed to my body possibly not being ready so soon after retrieval. I did have a frozen transfer a few months later (August 2021) where I transferred 2 embryos. This resulted in a chemical pregnancy. Up until this point, I had waived a hysteroscopy with Dr Abuzeid on board with me wanting to try naturally first. He told me he would really prefer to do a hysteroscopy before any future transfers. Now (April 2022), I just underwent a hysteroscopy where he repaired a dip in the roof of my uterus. I will be pursuing another frozen transfer this summer where I again plan to transfer 2 embryos. Dr Abuzeid always discusses risks of multiple embryos but has remained comfortable with my decision.

I’m very glad I’ve been assigned a primary nurse. Erin is very attentive, kind, and down to earth. Any nursing employee that I have encounter at the office has always been kind. Sometimes things have gotten a little miscommunicated, but I think that may have been resolved by using primary nurses now.

My insurance covers all office visits, ultrasounds, and billable procedures (subject to my deductible/copays). I paid $4000 for my mini IVF retrieval which included the retrieval and fresh transfer. I paid $300 for anesthesia. I paid around $5000 for medications (purchased elsewhere). I believe frozen transfers cost around $4500 but Dr Abuzeid graciously offered me a discount of $2500 for my previous FET due to personal circumstances. I paid $1100 for the meds for FET and it was $1000 for embryo storage.

He treats all of his patients with kindness and honesty. My husband has cancer and he has been concerned with him as well. During our telemedicine appointments he always asks how he doing and feeling. It’s not about just IVF with him. He treats you like a family member and I greatly appreciate it.

I don’t remember all of the medications used, but I prepped with an ovarian supplement for a couple of months prior to retrieval.

Often times we were interrupted or cut off before he would allow us to finish what we were saying, that got very frustrating but he was a very intelligent man...You must be in top of your care there and a major advocate for yourself.

They don’t work well around peoples schedules which makes a full time job and IVF very difficult.

With Dr. Abuzeid himself we always felt heard but with his staff we felt very rushed and like we were a problem to them.

Communication with the nursing staff was extremely stressful and always very frustrating. Many times they were very short and rude and acted as if they had better things to do. It was very hard as this is a very emotional time and having a good supper system with your nurse is very helpful.

He treats you like a human and listens to you and your concerns...He is a very busy man with thousands of patients so you have to have patience but he is worth it. There is only one Dr. Abuzeid but he very good at what he does.

I am currently going through IVF with his clinic. My cycle was canceled to start injections as my uterine lining was very thick. So I was put on birth control and treatment was pushed back a month.

In the end, I did two egg retrievals and 3 transfers, we got pregnant with twins on the last transfer...
They [IVF Michigan Rochester Hills & Flint] had hours that worked around my schedule, they had on-call nurses 24/7 to answer questions, they were there Saturday or Sunday depending on your needs! They called each day after an ultrasound with a status and medication update. Payment was clear and in writing...
How was your experience with Mostafa Abuzeid at IVF Michigan Rochester Hills & Flint?
Dr. Abuzeid and his team are amazing, I would refer anyone to this group! I was referred to him by my gynecologist after 18 months of infertility treatment with her office and I specifically asked her what doctor I should go to regardless of cost and our financial situation. I wanted to know who was the best in Michigan, who had the most success with clients (even the tough cases) and who was the most ethical (which is hard to find in the IVF business). Once procedures were completed we discussed what did or did not work, why and what the next steps would be (I never felt pressured to move further with procedures or like they were giving me false hope to make money from us). In the end, I did two egg retrievals and 3 transfers, we got pregnant with twins on the last transfer, so don’t give up (especially if you have eggs frozen), use them all. Trust this team’s advice and experience.

I did two egg retrievals and 3 transfers, we got pregnant with twins on the last transfer. The first retrieval we did not have good quality eggs and when we transferred the one blastocyst we had we knew it was bad quality and would not live and it did not. The second retrieval we had great quality eggs and great blastocysts. They think the second transfer did not work because I was 39 and had never been pregnant (it lasted 8 weeks before miscarriage). The third transfer he added lovenox (after testing for miscarriage genes, etc.) and I got pregnant with twins. He adjusts his process after each procedure to find what works (this may take time but it is worth the wait).

They were kind and caring, answered my questions at each ultrasound and gave me examples and scenarios and told me what looked good or not so great, I appreciated the honesty. They worked around my schedule which was great too! They had an on-call nurse who was there all the time and I loved that.

They had hours that worked around my schedule, they had on-call nurses 24/7 to answer questions, they were there Saturday or Sunday depending on your needs! They called each day after an ultrasound with a status and medication update. Payment was clear and in writing.

Appointments were first come first serve before COVID and I would get there as early as possible to get my place in line, after COVID they did it by appointment and I think they and myself liked this much better (I think this will continue). I did not feel I was just a number and they were quick and efficient!

Retrievals were $10,000-$15,000 depending on your need, medication was $50-$5,000 depending on insurance coverage and the pharmacy used, he gave us all the options which was so nice. Embryo transfers were $5,000 or less depending on need. I found the pricing to be fair and reasonable and was always in writing.

The office is busy. It is one of the only fertility clinics in our area; however, Dr. Abuzeid is a fantastic doctor and I wouldn’t hesitate to go to him again for fertility needs.

After comprehensive testing, we were essentially diagnosed with unexplained infertility issues because there were many small reasons why we were having trouble conceiving. Dr. Abuzeid suggested IVF for us because we were not good candidates for other expensive procedures such as IUI. I did one round of IVF injections/medications for about 11 days, did a 5 day fresh transfer of two embryos and I am currently 15 weeks pregnant with boy/girl twins.

I loved the nursing staff at both IVF Michigan Flint and Rochester Hills. They are extremely kind and caring. They are busy. I had to call to follow up a couple of times, but they were always quick to return calls and answer my questions. I was very thankful for them during this process.

[IVF Michigan Rochester Hills & Flint] had special going on for Christmas and IVF treatment was discounted to $5500 (after 50% off). They always look and prescribe based on what insurance covers...first we had a treatment to remove polyps and clear the Fallopian tube blockage. That worked out fine. Next we used fertility medication for 4 months. it did not work out for us then we went with IVF for one cycle. This cycle did not work out for us but we are planning on going for IUI for next cycle.

The clinic work very early and i was able to do blood work and any UT scans in the morning and go to work. That is very helpful for me. Sometimes, its hard to reach the Nurse sometimes but once you leave a voicemail they will call you back in 24 hours.

I really can't tell you there are any weaknesses. This clinic allows you to come in before office hours on the days that you need to have your follicles measured. This is a great strength because this allows us to go to these appointments and not have them affect our normal working day. I was able to go to the appointments before working to be at work on time it was a long day with being up that early but I was grateful not having to miss any work

You genuinely feel that they would advise and support you and your spouse like they would to someone they were related to. You are not a number - they know your face, they know your story. The respond to messages quickly and are thorough and detailed.

We sought treatment due to male factor infertility. Dr. Abuzeid pushed for additional testing and ended up identifying that I had a partial septate uterus that required surgery and would help to mitigate late term miscarriage. In addition, we delayed treatment due to my thyroid levels. They were always within normal limits but he wanted them to be optimal, again to mitigate miscarriage risk. My husband was prescribed medication to help with his sperm count and quality. We ultimately went through IVF - one round - fresh transfer - 17 weeks as I write this.

They take into consideration your commute. Since we were driving +/- two hours, they always tried to see us upon arrival within the time frame they gave us.

He creates an individualized plan for each patient. He has performed countless transfers and will only suggest the safest, most optimal amount of embryos to transfer based on you specifically. I had an AA embryo, day 5 and he was fairly confident in the success of that.

They [IVF MI] have monitoring from 7-9 am Monday through Friday. It is run nicely but sometimes there is a long line. You just wait in the waiting room and wait to be called...$9,500 for traditional IVF. $1,500 for monitoring... And another $2,000 or so for miscellaneous appts and monitoring I needed...Nurses aren’t the nicest. Their billing department is in flint so sometimes that gets a little confusing. The front desk staff is nice. The schedulers are nice as well. They all seem to be relatively informed. They return calls promptly. They expect payment up front for everything. Also, their blood draw woman is very nice and good.

Traditional IVF. Gonal 150 and menopur 150. Menopur was upped the last few days. Also was on ganirelix .25 to prevent premature ovulation. Took that twice a day towards the end. Had 5 monitoring appts. Egg retrieval produced 16 eggs. 14 mature and 12 fertilized. Of the 12, only 7-8 continued to grow past day 3. On day 5, I had one 4AB embryo and one early blast that we implanted. The rest did not continue to grow and did not make it to freeze. Transferred two embryos. Resulting in a chemical pregnancy.

The nursing staff is nice but not the warmest. There are a few nurses that are great and Dr Abuzeid has a clinical assistant who is absolutely phenomenal!!

Nurses aren’t the nicest. Their billing department is in flint so sometimes that gets a little confusing. The front desk staff is nice. The schedulers are nice as well. They all seem to be relatively informed. They return calls promptly. They expect payment up front for everything. Also, their blood draw woman is very nice and good.

They have monitoring from 7-9 am Monday through Friday. It is run nicely but sometimes there is a long line. You just wait in the waiting room and wait to be called.

Dr. Abuzeid has been the most kind and sincere doctor I've ever encountered in the infertility field. He took his time to make sure we had all testing done and really got down to the bottom of what was causing our infertility struggle. He never once jumped straight to ivf, his goal was to get us pregnant. Whether we got pregnant via iui, ivf or naturally he didn't mind, he is the first doctor that cares about you as a human being versus just in it for the money. If he can help you get pregnant naturally by fixing a simple problem then he's all for it. There are many patients that have gone to see him who had gotten pregnant naturally after having simple surgeries to fix whatever was causing their infertility. He is happy for all his patience regardless

We did a full ivf cycle with 150 menopur and 150 gonal. Stimmed for 9 days and triggered on day 10. Had 12 eggs retrieved, all 12 were mature and 11 fertilized. 10 made it to day 5, 6 were frozen and 2 transferred.

As a new patient of Dr. Abuzied, I needed to have more extensive testing done to begin with. I had bloodwork done immediately, an HSG test done, a saline sonogram which diagnosed my uterine polyps, and a hysteroscopy with d&c shortly thereafter. He makes sure to have as much information as possible to base his decisions on. We had no idea I had polyps, so to finally have some answers and a plan was amazing.
Our overall experience so far [at IVF MI] has been great...Sometimes the wait is long but that is to be expected. Everyone is encouraged to ask questions and you will get your answers. They want to run as many tests as possible to help diagnose and treat the issues the way they need to be treated...The nurses are knowledgeable, friendly and helpful. Chances are you will see a PA before seeing Dr. Abuzeid. I had one wonderful PA and one who was brand new and whom I had some issues with. Namely, the PA scheduled my pre-op appointment with Dr. Abuzeid at a date and time that 1) Dr. Abuzeid was typically at his other office and 2) Dr. A was actually in surgery during my appointment. I was not called ahead of time but was informed of this at my appointment when I was confused why I would not be meeting with the doctor who would be performing my surgery. The staff at the clinic quickly compensated me for my inconvenience and worked hard to make sure I had my pre-op appointment quickly after. The appointment ended up being over the phone but Dr. Abuzeid spent as long as I wanted answering questions and explaining everything to me. He was kind and apologetic for the office staff mix-up, and he made it clear that he thought the mistake was unacceptable.

The whole office staff is welcoming and warm. They have a lab in their office so I am able to get my blood drawn on site, which is nice. The only downside is that it’s an hour from my house. Their care is so great that I drive an hour to see them.

Most of my costs were covered by health insurance. The costs that weren’t covered I paid out of pocket.

We went into the appointment to meet with his [Dr. Mostaka Abuzeid's] PA to go over history and what we can do. They didn’t push IVF and said we could try other things first but because of time we would like to go on to ivf. They were very receptive to things we said. They actually got me in for one of my tests that same day. The doctor made an appearance when it was expected at all. He even said he wanted to do my next test himself. I thought that was very bold and impressive...I’m hoping to be able to advocate for myself and make sure things are done as safety as possible with the least amount of chemicals and medicine

Bring all your history and be able to stand up for yourself. Go in with an open mind and listen but also know what you want.

I felt like a human because for ones in my life Dr Abuzeid’s office answered my questions that my other fertility Dr was never able to. Dr Abuzeid ran more tests, asked more questions and I felt like he was treating me with more respect and actually cared about my expectations and feelings.... Ask all the questions you want and he will do his best to answer them all. He is very compassionate and loving doctor who wants to see your dream come true. He is not out to get your money, instead he is there to make it more affordable for you and your partner! I am so pleased with this doctor.

Dr Abuzeid is very compassionate about his work. He makes treatments more affordable for those who cannot afford it. He explains every procedure and every treatments possible. He lets you make monthly payments and gives you options that are more suitable for you and your spouse. I feel very safe in his hands and very trustworthy of him. He sits down with you and goes over every single test and what every never means. He explains the next step and what to expect of it. He changes protocol if needed to best match your needs. Overall I am very satisfied with his office and his work. He is an amazing doctor and I could not be more satisfied at this time.

We are currently talking about frozen embryo transfer and what the protocol should be for somebody like me and my diagnosis. We are running more tests to prepare for our frozen cycle. Such as running more tests to make sure we don’t miscarry again or make sure this round we achieve a pregnancy.

They are wonderful. Always call me and leave me voicemails or call me right back if I missed a call. Always reassure me to make it easier on me and my spouse. I always worry about everything and Cheryl is just wonderful and communication step by step and helps with everything. Wonderful staff. I couldn’t be happier with this office.

My approach is if your egg quality not as good multiple egg transfer is likely best for you. If your egg quality is pretty good then possibly one is better for you because the chance of multiples.

I really appreciate they way Dr. Abuzeid explains all of our options, risk, and provides statistics on our specific case. Even with every IUI he may not do the actual procedure but he reviews my blood work, ultrasounds and advises the nurses on what to do next on every step of the way. He listens and also give you a chance to talk and ask questions or concerns. It feels like he genuinely care and wants to help us get pregnant. He lays or options out and lets us decide how we would like to proceed.
We completed 2 IUI's all with the same medication protocol [at IVF MI]...The number of injections was based on my follicle growth from the monitored ultrasounds... My husband has retrograde ejaculation where the sperm is going backward and into the bladder. So he is on Allegra, and a sodium bicarbonate protocol. His urologist just added a new medication (antidepressant) that is supposed to help with retrograde ejaculation. Dr. Abuzeid agrees with the add to his protocol. Hardly any sperm comes out of my husband so we will definitely need assistance to get pregnant because this problem causes low sperm count. For all of our IUI's they have to pull sperm from my husband urine and wash it for the IUI.

There may be a long wait especially on your first visit so bring a book and your patience. It will be totally worth it. He has a had in all his patients, managing his staff, surgery etc.. At two locations.

Dr. Abuzeid is amazing. He explains things in detail and is open to answering all of me and my husbands questions. He genuinely cares about his patients and it shows.

We completed 2 IUI's all with the same medication protocol. Femara the first 5 days of cycle followed by two or three gonal f injections. The number of injections was based on my follicle growth from the monitored ultrasounds. IUI #1 I did two 150 gonal f injections and I got pregnant but miscarried at 6 weeks. IUI #2 I took three gonal f injections and this cycle I did not end up pregnant. I am currently going through IUI #3 and I had three gonal f injections. Waiting to find out if I am pregnant. Lisa and Jeanette are both wonderful nurses. They are always polite and keep me up do date with what is going on. They know me my by my first name and they pronounce it correctly witch is a big plus. I appreciate their effort when caring for me and my husband. They make the experience more personal. The only negative I have is the Name, DOB, Date are incorrect on perscriptions, blood work request, and semen analysis. Better quality control needs to be in place for this.

Just that they need better quality control in place with writing names, DOB, Dates, on prescriptions, semen analysis, blood work request etc... Other than that they are very personable and good at what they do. I appreciate the long hours they work to make sure patient care is a priority.

The first IUI and ultrasounds were covered at 100%. The second IUI was covered at 50% for some reason and the same procedure codes were used. I will have to look into this. Total cost out of pocket is almost $400. The third IUI has not been billed yet. Medication for each cycle cost $1600 per cycle. My insurance does not cover IVF at all what so ever.

He is very good about including you in your own healthcare decisions and formulating a treatment plan with the patient vs. for the patient. As a nurse, I appreciate that I was able to have input in our treatment...In my case for both of my transfers he has recommend transferring 2 embryos. He completely left the decision up to my husband and I but let us know his recommendation.

I am okay with the wait because I choose to see Dr. Abuzeid...The front desk staff can seem short at times, the lab staff is sometimes running late in the morning delaying monitoring. The surgical staff is awesome and they are so uplifting...Nurses at times make you feel like a number, specifically during monitoring appointments for follicle checks...My first cycle we used Gonal F and menopur, then added Cetrotide eventually. My second cycle we did estrogen priming with the same meds. My last day of stimulation medications my dosages of Gonal F and Menopur were increased.

With my first cycle I got pregnant but needed thyroid medication based on my levels they drew. It took them over two weeks to call me and tell me I needed to be on thyroid medication. My pregnancy ended in miscarriage.

Ultrasound monitoring and bloodwork were $150 each month during Clomid treatment. IVF has been estimated at $11,000 per cycle.

He took the time to explain EVERYTHING to me in more detail than ever before.
I was quoted for an IVF procedure which was approximately $15,000 [at IVF MI - Roch Hills and Flint]...While I did get to see Dr. Abuzeid at every visit, admittedly the wait was pretty long at each appointment. The staff and the Dr. did repeatedly apologize for the delay so that helped. As with most clinics, it seems they just have too many patients...Dr. Abuzeid was my third IVF doctor.
