Attention to Detail

Attention to detail is on a 1 - 10 scale, and is scored based on the rate, and severity, of errors committed by the clinic according to the patients.

For example, a severe error might be failing to inform a patient of critical information, while a small error might be failing to call a patient with results.

CDC Success Rates

This is the most recent data from the CDC. The CDC cautions that it should not be used to compare doctors and clinics. This data represents the outcomes of IVF cycles when using a person's own eggs.

For more information please see our FAQs.

Where you see a “?” on the chart, a clinic has done fewer than 20 cycles in this category and age range, so the CDC says showing percentages from this small data set would be misleading and unreliable.

Dr Nazem is incredibly engaging and understanding. She was kind and easy to speak with. Dr Nazem explained everything to us and answered every question. She walked us through every treatment and procedure and was incredibly reassuring whenever we would stress out or get anxious about anything. She approached every conversation with a sense of compassion and understanding.

The wait times can sometimes be long even with appointments but they are always apologetic if that happens...My primary nurse and the entire nursing staff were incredibly supportive and kind. During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Taraneh Nazem at RMA of New York?
Dr Nazem and her nurses were incredibly kind and patient with us throughout our journey. She answered all of our questions, explained everything to us each step of the way, and never made us feel rushed or ashamed.
Describe the protocols Taraneh Nazem used in your cycles at RMA of New York and their degree of success.
We started with testing for me and my husband to try and determine why we were not getting pregnant. Dr Nazem explained every test and why we were doing it. Once we determined that it was unexplained infertility, she walked us through the steps we would take to try to get pregnant. Because of my age, we started with timed pregnancy, and then moved on to IUI, and finally IVF. She explained every procedure and made sure we were ready to take the next step.

Describe your experience with RMA of New York.
Everyone at the clinic is incredibly supportive and kind. It is a friendly place. The wait times can sometimes be long even with appointments but they are always apologetic if that happens - most of the time I didn’t mind because the music they play is always great.
Describe your experience with your monitoring appointments at RMA of New York.
Monitoring appointments were done during morning monitoring times. Appointments were given the day before but if needed you could request an appointment time. Sometimes the wait would be long but they would always be apologetic.

Dr. Flisser listened to my concerns and always took as much time as needed to answer my questions. He also remembered me from visit to visit which is impressive based on the number of patients he has...After each round, Dr. Flisser explained why this might be happening, and gave me options from there. He has a great way of explaining things using analogies and concepts that a non doctor can easily understand. I was trying to avoid IVF (cost, time, etc) and I never felt forced into it. After many conversations with Dr. Flisser, and when my partner and I were ready, we made the decision to proceed with IVF...
The [RMA of New York] clinic has a ton of patients and you are just one. Because of this, you have to speak up for your own concerns and needs. Wait times can be long but never more than 30-40 minutes. You cannot contact your doctor directly, you can only speak through the nursing team and you can of course request a call with your doctor through them. I will say it is very easy to call the clinic and leave a message with the team - a nurse will usually get back to you that day.
How was your experience with Eric Flisser at RMA of New York?
I did about 5 rounds of letrozole with Dr. Flisser, and 4/5 resulted in a chemical pregnancy. After each round, Dr. Flisser explained why this might be happening, and gave me options from there. He has a great way of explaining things using analogies and concepts that a non doctor can easily understand. I was trying to avoid IVF (cost, time, etc) and I never felt forced into it. After many conversations with Dr. Flisser, and when my partner and I were ready, we made the decision to proceed with IVF. I only saw Dr. Flisser on some of the monitoring visits, but any procedure or appointment that could be planned ahead of time - he was the doctor I saw. I ended up needed a small surgery before I could proceed with the embryo transfer and he did the surgery for me. He also did my embryo transfer. After successfully getting pregnant, I had some light bleeding (it ended up being nothing) and I called the office to see if I could come in, and Dr. Flisser made sure to see me even though it was outside of monitoring hours. I have nothing but wonderful things to say about him!!
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Eric Flisser at RMA of New York?
Be your own advocate. If you’re worried about something or have a question - always ask! Don’t be afraid to call the office with even the slightest concern. Keep on top of your meds if you’re doing IVF. No one will remind you to refill them if they’re getting low.

My insurance fully covered my care.
What specific things went wrong at RMA of New York?
  • Failed to call in prescriptions to pharmacy
Describe the specific things that went wrong at RMA of New York.
I was supposed to be prescribed two types of needles (one for drawing and one for injecting). Only one type of needle was called in. When I discovered this, I called and they sent the needle information to the pharmacy, but they were the wrong style of needle. I’m not sure if that was the pharmacy’s fault or the clinic’s fault. Because of these two mishaps, my embryo transfer was delayed a bunch of days. That was frustrating.

I would highly recommend Dr Sekhon, she was knowledgeable, experienced, and emotionally attune with her patients. I had peace of mind knowing that she personally reviewed every single chart and test result, and every next step, it was clear she put a lot of thought and care into her recommendations, from when to do the egg retrieval, to readying my uterine lining for the transfer...had amazing bedside manner, and always talked to me person to person. During my appts with her, she would check in with me and genuinely care about how I am doing.
[RMA of New York] Strengths include the number of locations possible to do the visits...the early hours appointment windows so it wasn’t distributive with work, and the offices were nice, friendly, and had plenty of reading materials and water. Weaknesses: since RMA had many of locations and scale, the office and staff never felt personalized. I didn’t know any of the staff members, because they would often be different...[nurse] Carlie was responsive, helpful, and very enjoyable to work with. I can tell she was here to support me, emotionally and medically.

Dr. Sekhon is a great doctor, and even though you might not see her in every appt, know that she is always reviewing your files and your progress, and is always accessible for you

Dr. Sekhon had amazing bedside manner, and always talked to me person to person. During my appts with her, she would check in with me and genuinely care about how I am doing.
Describe the protocols Lucky Sekhon used in your cycles at RMA of New York and their degree of success.
When I initially tested for fertility, it was unclear why we struggled to conceive, so Dr Sekhon was transparent and helpful in outlining the pros and cons for assisted conception vs IVF. Based on her input I decided on IVF as a stringed more guaranteed result. After the first cycle, I only had four embryos. It was unclear if I should go ahead and do the transfer, try assisted conception, or do another cycle. Dr Sekhon, knowing that I wanted 2-3 kids, recommended another cycle while I’m young so then I would have more options and the results I was looking for. When we were preparing for the embryo transfer, my uterine lining was taking a while. Dr Sekhon instructed me to take the estrace vaginally and we gave my body an extra week to see if we can get a thicker lining. The extra week didn’t make a material difference but I appreciate how we wanted to take the time to create the best circumstances for a successful transfer. The transfer was ultimately successful.

Weaknesses: since RMA had many of locations and scale, the office and staff never felt personalized. I didn’t know any of the staff members, because they would often be different.
Describe the costs associated with your care under Lucky Sekhon at RMA of New York.
My first treatment and medication was covered under my health insurance. My second IVF cycle was not because my health insurance didn’t allow me to undergo IVF if I already have embryos

Dr Stein was very knowledgeable and provided me with valuable information about the process and options available to me. He was also helpful with my various follow up questions. Dr Stein is friendly but also honest and frank when needed...Depending on what your process looks like, your visits with Dr Stein may seem brief, but this may simply mean things are going well and no additional consultations or visits (beyond the normal monitoring) are needed
RMA is a large organization so the benefits of this is that there is a large support team and everything is well run - from the check in staff, to the monitoring nurses and even the finance team...If your personal preference is to have more in-depth consultations/conversations with your doctor, consider a smaller fertility clinic rather than RMA...My dedicated nurse was always available to answer any questions I had and the whole supporting staff and team worked together perfectly to schedule appointments and provide clear instructions and next steps.

Describe the protocols Daniel Stein used in your cycles at RMA of New York and their degree of success.
I underwent the egg freezing process some years ago. When I decided I wanted to start a family, Dr Stein explained the option of IUI and IVF to me. We decided to try one round of IUI. When that was unsuccessful, we decided to try IVF using half of my frozen eggs. I had one transfer and am currently in the early stages of pregnancy.
Describe your experience with your nurse at RMA of New York. (Assigned nurse: Jackie Fried)
RMA is a large organization so every thing is very organized and runs smoothly. My dedicated nurse was always available to answer any questions I had and the whole supporting staff and team worked together perfectly to schedule appointments and provide clear instructions and next steps.
Describe your experience with RMA of New York.
RMA is a large organization so the benefits of this is that there is a large support team and everything is well run - from the check in staff, to the monitoring nurses and even the finance team. They also have various office locations in Manhattan so you can easily find a location that is most convenient for you. They also have an office that opens on the weekends, which is helpful in case you have appointments or need to call a doctor/nurse.
Describe the costs associated with your care under Daniel Stein at RMA of New York.
Total out of pocket costs will depend on your insurance coverage. The medication for the egg freezing process is the most expensive portion (can be up to $10k depending how much medication you need) if your insurance coverage does not cover all or majority of the costs. Egg storage is about $1000 per year after the first year (first year is included as part of the process). Each round of IUI is about $1500. Total IVF out of pocket can be up to $5000 as may insurance carriers do not cover genetic testing, which is required as part of IVF process at RMA.
Describe Daniel Stein's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at RMA of New York.
RMA only allows for transfer of one embryo at a time.

Dr Sekhon embodies everything a doctor should be: patient, warm, kind, compassionate with a high level of skill, knowledge base and expertise. She is familiar with current data and literature and explains things thoroughly...She is someone you can trust with your care. She genuinely has your best interest in mind...She spent so much time during each visit and never made me feel rushed.
The RMA downtown location provides a more personal experience and the wait times were never long. Front desk was always friendly. The downside is that they are not open on weekends. During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Lucky Sekhon at RMA of New York?
She allowed time and was patient with any and all questions. She was compassionate and showed empathy with what I was feeling. She even gave me a hug at the end of my treatment with her, which was so endearing. She truly cares about each patient.
Describe the protocols Lucky Sekhon used in your cycles at RMA of New York and their degree of success.
I went to Dr. Sekhon to transfer a CC grade embryo which I froze in 2017. Because I had prior transfer failure with better grade embryos, she ordered appropriate diagnostics like an HSG to ensure I had no problems with anatomy. I had many questions including PRP for the Uterus which is a fairly new modality. She explained her reasoning for everything she did and did not recommend based on current literature. I used estrogen pills as well as progesterone in oil prior, during and after transfer. During the transfer, she was optimistic and explained all steps thoroughly. She spent so much time during each visit and never made me feel rushed.

Under his [Dr. Daniel Stein] care, we thawed my eggs, made embryos and did our first FET in March. It worked and I am now 9 weeks pregnant and cannot thank Dr. Stein and the RMA team enough for their expertise, professionalism, and kind demeanor...Don't expect to see Dr. Stein every visit - he is there for the important stuff but you will see nearly everyone during your monitoring
RMA of NY only practices eSET. They will not do multiples...LOVE that they have a financial coordinator who handled my insurance. I do wish you could request your monitoring appt time online vs always having to call them on a weekly basis but they were pretty good about getting me the time I needed each week.
How was your experience with Daniel Stein at RMA of New York?
have been a patient of Dr. Stein's since 2018 when I decided to freeze my eggs at 34 y/o. Now at 38, I was diagnosed with PCOS so back to Dr. Stein we went! Under his care, we thawed my eggs, made embryos and did our first FET in March. It worked and I am now 9 weeks pregnant and cannot thank Dr. Stein and the RMA team enough for their expertise, professionalism, and kind demeanor. I am so happy I decided to freeze my eggs with Dr. Stein's recommendation when I did and found out recently that RMA of NY has one of the best, if not the best, success rates for successful pregnancies from frozen eggs. We will definitely be back for our second child and will forever be grateful for making our dreams of having children possible for us.

After being diagnosed at 38 with PCOS, we went straight to IVF and Dr. Stein did not recommend IUI or any other treatment.

Jackie called me weekly - I never met her in person but she always gave me my results and talked me through my next steps.

Describe the costs associated with your care under Daniel Stein at RMA of New York.
For my original egg freezing in 2018, we paid out of pocket about 14k as this wasn't covered by insurance. For our IVF cycle with ICSI, insurance covered us less 10% out of pocket to RMA. I think we paid less than $1500 all in to date.

Dr. Flisser was always thorough and explained things as many times as I needed to hear them. My husband also felt very comfortable with how Dr. Flisser spoke to him during our later monitoring appointments. There was one time that I wanted to try a different schedule of medications than what was suggested. Dr. Flisser was open to my concerns and we were able to adjust the initial plan to something I felt more comfortable with.
Morning monitoring [at RMA of New York] was very organized and ran smoothly. All of the doctors I saw were very kind and thorough even though they weren’t my primary doctor. Whenever I had questions, it was easy to leave a message and someone always returned my call the same day...[the nurses] were always very detailed in reporting results and never hesitated to co silt Dr. flisser if I had a question they couldn’t answer.

Dr. Nazem was always upbeat and positive...Being a large facility, I didn’t feel like just a number. I had the choice to see her for every appointment or go to whichever location best fit my schedule. Due to scheduling and my cycle, Dr. Seckon performed my egg retrieval. Dr. Nazem was the one who planned my treatment, performed my successful transfer, including my monitoring after my positive pregnancy test. I really felt cared for, and heard the entire time...
Nurses [at RMA of New York] always called back promptly if I had any additional questions or concerns. Staff was fantastic, and professional...Sometimes the clinic would be busy during monitoring appointments. Their new Brooklyn facility now accommodates more seating for patients, compared to previous one. The facilities are clean, and technology used seems to be the latest available. Describe the protocols Taraneh Nazem used in your cycles at RMA of New York and their degree of success.
My egg retrieval was in 2020 during the summer of the pandemic. I was on Menopur, Follistim, Lupron, Ganirelix, and Pregnyl for my trigger. I was thankfully not over stimulated. Out of 15/16 follicles, 13 eggs were retrieved. 9 fertilized, and 8 made it to blasts. Transfers took place end of 2021. First transfer prep estrace 3 x day, and 5 days before transfer 1 baby aspirin/day, and 1ml of progesterone in oil. Transfer was unsuccessful. Second transfer estrace 3 x day, 5 days before transfer baby aspirin, 1ml of progesterone in oil, medrol, lovenox. Transfer was successful, and currently pregnant.

Dr. Lederman is very kind and approachable. He is happy to answer questions and allows his personality and compassion to shine through in his work...Dr. Lederman was extremely helpful in making me feel like I wasn't the only person who has experienced this, and he shared that even though it was not the outcome we hoped for, the retrieval round provided us with good information moving forward....
[RMA of New York] Strengths: evidence-based, tons of research goes into their strategies, highly knowledgeable, good reputation Weaknesses: sometimes can be disorganized, it's a huge clinic so sometimes you feel like a "number"...[nurses are] Truly amazing. So kind, loving, and they're really rooting for you...they only do single embryo transfers, as far as I know...
How was your experience with Matthew Lederman at RMA of New York?
When I initially consulted with Dr. Lederman, I had no idea what to expect. He was helpful in providing education to my husband and I around fertility procedures, etc. We did several diagnostic tests, and ultimately had the diagnosis of unexplained infertility. We proceeded with 3 rounds of IUI; none of which resulted in a positive pregnancy test. Then, we moved toward IVF. For my first egg retrieval, we learned that my egg quality seemed somewhat compromised, and I had challenges with retrieving mature eggs. We ended up with two embryos from the first retrieval, both of which unfortunately were chromosomally abnormal (we had them PGT tested). I was devastated, and Dr. Lederman was extremely helpful in making me feel like I wasn't the only person who has experienced this, and he shared that even though it was not the outcome we hoped for, the retrieval round provided us with good information moving forward. We did another egg retrieval, with altered protocol to hopefully get more eggs, and ended up with 2 normal PGT tested embryos. We transferred one, which resulted in a chemical pregnancy. Again, I felt so defeated. Dr. Lederman called me throughout each stage of the process to provide me with updated on embryo growth, next steps, and encouragement. We went to go transfer the other embryo we had, and right before the procedure, learned that it had not survived being thawed (this was a day-7 embryo). Yet again, I was crushed. Dr. Lederman provided as much reassurance as he could, given how sad I was. We took a break after that, as mentally I was feeling hopeless about the process. A few months later, we did 2 more rounds of egg retrievals, both times getting 2 chromosomally normal embryos - leaving us with 4 total. We transferred one, which resulted in a negative pregnancy test. Transferred another, which resulted in a chemical pregnancy. Transferred a third, and finally we had our strong, positive pregnancy test. After nearly 2 years of working with Dr. Lederman, I am in my second trimester of pregnancy. I cannot express enough how his dedication, warmth, and encouragement meant to my husband and I. Stick with it, and Dr. Lederman will certainly stick with you.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Matthew Lederman at RMA of New York?
Ask questions, express any concerns you have. He is reassuring and knowledgeable.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Matthew Lederman at RMA of New York?
Dr. Lederman is very kind and approachable. He is happy to answer questions and allows his personality and compassion to shine through in his work.

Insurance covered some, but out of pocket we spent around $25,000
Describe Matthew Lederman's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at RMA of New York.
At my clinic, they only do single embryo transfers, as far as I know. The primary reason being that singleton pregnancies are safest.

She [Dr. Sekhon] really listened to me and made me feel totally comfortable asking questions. I felt like a person vs. just another number. I appreciated how practical she is. I'm a worrier, but she put me at ease which is not an easy feat...She never made me feel rushed and I always felt that she really cared about ensuring I was comfortable...standard egg freezing cycle. I responded well the medication and completed my cycle within 10 days...
I found the whole staff [at RMA of New York] very caring and willing to answer all my questions. How was your experience with Lucky Sekhon at RMA of New York?
I met Dr. Lucky around my 31st birthday and decided at the time to hold off on egg freezing for a couple more years. Around my 33rd, I was no longer living in NYC and considered another, nationally known clinic - I had a horrible, disorganized experience and did not proceed with treatment. Several girlfriends had gone to Dr. Lucky and rated their experience 10/10 so I decided to make the journey to NY to work with her. It was absolutely worth it. She really listened to me and made me feel totally comfortable asking questions. I felt like a person vs. just another number. I appreciated how practical she is. I'm a worrier, but she put me at ease which is not an easy feat! No hesitation, she's the only fertility doctor I'd go to!
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Lucky Sekhon at RMA of New York?
Don't be afraid to ask questions! Be open about what you're concerned about and ask all the questions you need.

Dr Sandler is very blunt and to the point - he will go over expectations and crush them if you are aiming too high, but he is more often than not right. He is experienced, knowledgeable, and keeps informed of the latest development...very standard treatments, dosage based on age and regular antagonist...
large clinic [RMA of New York], well -organized, been doing this for over 15 years and have grown. Expect long lines sometimes, but once in the routine, steps are easy to follow- they work with most insurances. another helpful tip is that they allow off-site monitoring that is really great if you dont live close to RMA- but hte facility has to have an agreement with them.

Stick to the facts, ask questions, asks if anything an be different - ie different treatment course, adding something else - do your research before meeting with any doctor.

Large practice, too many patients but also as a result quite experienced on what to expect after a treatment.
Describe the protocols Benjamin Sandler used in your cycles at RMA of New York and their degree of success.
very standard treatments, dosage based on age and regular antagonist (menopur, gonal, cetrotide with HCG trigger). Tried estrogen or the low-flare and it didnt work for me; adding chlomid worked better in increasing the number of eggs/embryos but not their quality. Results varied, not sure if any of the treatment "changes" made a real difference.
Describe your experience with your nurse at RMA of New York. (Assigned nurse: Katrina )
warm, informative and a great communicator team of nurses. dont get frustrated that they take some time (a few hours) to get back to you; they have a lot of patients but are really nice. Success w/ Doc Too early to know
Everything felt personal; from her [Dr. Gerber] relating her own experiences as a mother to helping us navigate financial concerns as my husband had just lost his job. On follow up visits, she remembers me and my story...starting the antagonist protocol in April 2022. I'll be taking two injections each day; Follistim in the morning and Menopur in the evening for 9-12 days.Ganirelix/Cetrotide, will be added on when the egg follicles reach 13mm...
The finance coordinator [at RMA of NY] was not always the easiest to communicate with. She sent me information without reviewing my chart to see what had already been completed. Additionally, when I ask her a question, she often answers vaguely, which requires me to ask follow up questions....I requested that the results of my saline ultrasound be sent to my obgyn. I filled out the necessary paperwork to request the documents and made sure my consent was on file. The documents were never sent. When I called to follow up, they said they would call back and never did. However, when I mentioned to Dr. Gerber during my appointment, she personally send the records the next day...
How was your experience with Rachel Gerber at RMA of New York?
It was immediately evident that Dr. Gerber was interested in our "story" and the journey my husband and I were taking towards building a family. Everything felt personal; from her relating her own experiences as a mother to helping us navigate financial concerns as my husband had just lost his job. On follow up visits, she remembers me and my story. On one occasion, I reached out to the RMA office for records. The office never got back to me and I never received what was requested; when I mentioned this to Dr. Gerber during my next appointment, she personally sent me what I needed the very next day. I have full faith in her expertise as a Dr. and cannot wait for her to guide me through the next steps.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Rachel Gerber at RMA of New York?
Share your concerns openly. Although I was initially embarrassed to share some of my concerns, I never felt judged and she put my mind at ease.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Rachel Gerber at RMA of New York?
It was immediately evident that Dr. Gerber was interested in our "story" and the journey my husband and I were taking towards building a family. Everything felt personal; from her relating her own experiences as a mother to helping us navigate financial concerns as my husband had just lost his job. On follow up visits, she remembers me and my story.
Describe the protocols Rachel Gerber used in your cycles at RMA of New York and their degree of success.
I will be starting the antagonist protocol in April 2022. I'll be taking two injections each day; Follistim in the morning and Menopur in the evening for 9-12 days.Ganirelix/Cetrotide, will be added on when the egg follicles reach 13mm.
Describe your experience with your nurse at RMA of New York. (Assigned nurse: Jenna McAuliffe)
I have not had too many interactions as of yet. She has sent me the details of my protocol and seems very organized. She has answered all of my questions so far.
Describe your experience with RMA of New York.
The finance coordinator was not always the easiest to communicate with. She sent me information without reviewing my chart to see what had already been completed. Additionally, when I ask her a question, she often answers vaguely, which requires me to ask follow up questions. Regarding the clinic in general, it is sometimes frustrating that there is not a direct phone number to reach the Mount Kisco location.
Describe the costs associated with your care under Rachel Gerber at RMA of New York.
I have not received a full picture of this yet.

Describe the specific things that went wrong at RMA of New York.
I requested that the results of my saline ultrasound be sent to my obgyn. I filled out the necessary paperwork to request the documents and made sure my consent was on file. The documents were never sent. When I called to follow up, they said they would call back and never did. However, when I mentioned to Dr. Gerber during my appointment, she personally send the records the next day.

[Dr. Stein is] Personable, great bedside manner. Sometimes doesn’t fully explain things and seems a bit rushed during appointments. Wish for more transparency and greater communication. Overall a more than competent doctor whom I trust with my care...My main complaint is they didn’t focus as much on my partner from the start so I feel like we missed out on two opportunities to fertilize more eggs
For two retrievals with insurance coverage it was roughly $20k, including medications for both myself and my partner...[ RMA of NY has a ] Strong performance record and location flexibility. Weak on organization and coordination when working with several doctors for complex cases. This has led to delays in my care, which is extremely stressful when trying to conceive and every delay means an entire month is wasted.

Uses my first time, personable bedside manner.
Describe the protocols Daniel Stein used in your cycles at RMA of New York and their degree of success.
First round resulted in two embryos. Adjusted medication and added a third to help my follicles grow at a better rate. Unfortunately this still resulted in nearly the identical number of mature eggs being retrieved but I ended up with 0 embryos. My main complaint is they didn’t focus as much on my partner from the start so I feel like we missed out on two opportunities to fertilize more eggs. This was a costly miscalculation and I wish I had pushed back more for them to examine everything from all sides. First transfer was genetically tested but unsuccessful. Doctor believes the poor embryo quality to be a factor and says they can’t improve my egg quality and will focus on improving sperm quality instead, which has included medication for the both of us and a TESE procedure for him. Fingers crossed.

I went through what was fortunately a very straightforward egg freezing cycle with Dr. Sekhon. The initial consultation appointment was very thorough, and left me with a clear idea of what to reasonably expect for someone freezing at my age (37). I saw Dr. Sekhon several times during my cycle, and each time, even during very brief monitoring appointments, she expertly balanced the straightforward sharing of information about how the cycle was progressing with empathy and care.
RMA is a well-oiled machine - they know what they're doing. Despite being a big practice, it was easy for me to reach my care team and everyone I spoke with throughout the process was calm and helpful...They [nurses] called me after every monitoring appointment, and all my calls and questions were returned and answered quickly and calmly. Their clear communication made the process run smoothly.

I saw Dr. Sekhon several times during my cycle, and each time, even during very brief monitoring appointments, she expertly balanced the straightforward sharing of information about how the cycle was progressing with empathy and care. I was grateful that she was easy to reach with questions, and honest about both the potential and limitations of the freezing process. Her care and that of her team made a daunting process very manageable.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Lucky Sekhon at RMA of New York?
I had to book several weeks out for both my initial consultation and follow up appointment, so be prepared for a possible wait. The time in the appointments moves quickly, and there's a lot of information to process - preparing questions beforehand will help you ensure you have all the info you need (and you can also email her if you need to follow up).
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Lucky Sekhon at RMA of New York?
Dr. Sekhon gave a thorough overview of the egg freezing process, and made sure I knew how to reach her and her team with any follow up questions. She responded quickly to my questions, and her team was friendly and easy to reach, which helped make the process very smooth.
Describe the protocols Lucky Sekhon used in your cycles at RMA of New York and their degree of success.
I had a very straightforward treatment plan for my egg retrieval - Gonal-F and Menopur for 8-9 days, followed by a trigger shot. Dr. Sekhon attenuated the medication after my monitoring appointments.

I was glad to be able to go into the clinic most convenient to my home during monitoring hours - I had to wait about 10 minutes once or twice, but it wasn't a big deal, and once I got in I was finished in under ten minutes.

The cycle and included appointments was $9,500, the anesthesia for the retrieval was $950, the medications were approximately $5,500.

As difficult as the process is, she [Dr. Thornton] always made me feel at ease and helped me to stop stressing by answering all of my questions (and very promptly) with great insight and knowledge. When things did not go quite as expected with my first egg retrieval, she quickly put a new plan in place and thoroughly explained next steps and the chances of the next cycle working, which helped me feel calm and optimistic.
[RMA of New York] is definitely a very big clinic, but I really enjoyed going to the Downtown office, which is much smaller than the main office on the UES. I never waited very long for my monitoring appointments and I almost always saw my actual doctor, which allowed me to ask her any questions in person and to find out next steps right then and there during the monitoring appointment.

Dr. Flisser was always very professional and straightforward during my treatment. During our consultation he advised I start IVF given my age and difficulty conceiving, but I opted for IUI to begin and he was supportive. I wish I had started IVF sooner and trusted his counsel more...He was very straightforward and answered my questions without making me feel like I was taking up too much of his times...
RMA handles a lot of patients. Some staff were very professional and kind and others were very brusque. Morning hours started 6:45ish...Dr. Flisser's nursing team communicated well and compassionately. His IVF coordinator was also helpful with all of our questions...The people who handle transactions tend to be the least friendly. The financial coordinators are nice but I'm sure they have to deal with a lot of questions and blowback for what isn't covered by insurance...
How was your experience with Eric Flisser at RMA of New York?
I really enjoyed my experience with Dr. Flisser and his team. He was very straightforward and answered my questions without making me feel like I was taking up too much of his times. And I was able to conceive after my first cycle, so I'm very pleased with how effective the protocol was.

He can be pretty straightforward, so if you need someone more delicate with news, then Flisser might not be the right fit.

She [Dr. Jackson-Bey] displayed her strengths and that is first her expertise/knowledge in this area or field. "You are in good hands" as Dr. Tia Jackson-Bey said to me on Friday September 2, 2022 before my egg retrieval procedure.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Tia Jackson-Bey at RMA of New York?
Her professionalism and work ethic is what made me feel like a human being. Her expertise/knowledge, her communication, tone and delivery of information is what made me feel like a human being. She is also fast/quick where patients are not waiting long periods of time.
Describe the protocols Tia Jackson-Bey used in your cycles at RMA of New York and their degree of success.
I did not have the funds and was waiting for the paperwork to be completed with the company RMA contracts to be approved for a loan. The strategy that Dr. Tia Jackson-Bey recommended was take birth control to hold off my cycle and give time for the paperwork to be completed for 10 days and then start my cycle. Or I could wait until the end of August to begin a new cycle. She gave me options to choose. Secondly, after choosing to take birth control and assessing that it did not work at time of appointment. She recommend that I return back to the clinic another week for assessment. By then I was recommend to take one of the injections medication before returning. The rationale for this was so that my paperwork can be completed within the time frame taking the birth control. Second, when the birth control did not work the injection medication was the next option. That did not work as only one follicle developed so waiting for my next cycle to come was the last option which was a success and started treatment.
Describe your experience with your nurse at RMA of New York. (Assigned nurse: Lucy Arnerich-Hatch )
There are no weaknesses I detected from Lucy Arnerich-Hatch. This RN played a significant role where I gained the confidence to learn how to inject myself with the medication. She is extremely patient, allowed me to stop her to obtain more clarity even when I repeated myself over and over to her and she would confirm. The written instructions sent me via email was clear, specific, detail and this made my experience injecting the medication an smooth and educational process. I would ask her to please call me back when I was in case conference because it was extremely important to me to hear everything she had to say although I would get an email. She is a teacher and love everything about her professionalism. During my tutorial, she had a sample to show me how to mix the medication and inject.
Describe your experience with RMA of New York.
There are cleaning supplies everywhere front desk, waiting area, bathroom and in the treatment rooms. The clinic is clean and spacious. The staff are accommodating and clean the chairs and pen upon request. Even if they did, they do it again for me to see and feel comfortable. There no weaknesses I have detected about this location.

it’s also comforting to know she [Dr. Sekhon] went through this exact process herself...She took an hour just to walk us through the biology & science behind IVF and in very clear ways for my husband and I to understand. How was your experience with Lucky Sekhon at RMA of New York?
Dr. Sekhon is amazing. She took an hour just to walk us through the biology & science behind IVF and in very clear ways for my husband and I to understand. She herself opted for embryo banking in order to preserve fertility, which is what my husband and I are looking to do, so it’s also comforting to know she went through this exact process herself. Another quick note, I had originally had an appt. set with another RMA Dr, but after reading reviews, I really wanted to work with De Sekhon, but her earliest appt wasn’t until Nov. She is very active on social media so I sent her an IG DM asking if she thought it would be too risky to wait until then since I have a looming 37th birthday in November - she responded so fast offering me a more immediate appt. since she had a cancelation from another patient who was already pregnant. Just another above and beyond action. She’s great!
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Lucky Sekhon at RMA of New York?

$60 copay for Consultation but treatment will run me somewhere around $20k because insurance does not cover embryo banking unless you are deemed infertile, but I am doing this to prolong my fertility since I’m not yet ready to have a child but am close to 37. Sad that insurance doesn’t see a need to cover cost if you are simply not ready. The $20k doesn’t include $4k frozen embryo transfer.

He may not be the most outwardly warm doctor, but he is absolutely the best and absolutely cares about you as a patient...If you go with Stein; you can expect him to do all your procedures and have high confidence in success. I am so, so grateful for him. Please trust me- not all doctors at RMA are great, but Stein is AMAZING...use his email to contact him- he always answers quickly and listens to your concerns...If you stick with Stein, you will get a baby
Yes they [RMA of New York] have a lot of volume- I look at it as a good thing because they’ve seen it all. I am not a routine case, and they were able to treat me because of their experience. The multiple locations and early morning monitoring hours was very convenient...not all doctors at RMA are great, but Stein is AMAZING...The clinic only allows 1 embryo transfers...The clinic was run efficiently with minimal wait times and dependable instructions during monitoring. It made the experience reliable and not stressful since they were on top of everything
How was your experience with Daniel Stein at RMA of New York?
He may not be the most outwardly warm doctor, but he is absolutely the best and absolutely cares about you as a patient. Everyone else we went to told us we had no chance- Stein worked with us every step of the way and got us our positive FET on our 4th attempt. *clarificarion: he would have done every procedure. I asked to change doctors for my third transfer due to scheduling issues and that was my fault. The other doctor was terrible and the transfer was painful. If you go with Stein; you can expect him to do all your procedures and have high confidence in success. I am so, so grateful for him. Please trust me- not all doctors at RMA are great, but Stein is AMAZING.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Daniel Stein at RMA of New York?
Make sure he does your transfer! Quality of transfer changes doctor to doctor. It was extremely clear that he is extremely skilled at this. Also, use his email to contact him- he always answers quickly and listens to your concerns

After 2 failed transfers with untested embryos (I’m 30 and general consensus was testing wasn’t necessary), he did a battery of tests including PGT. He also did extended Lupron depot for my endometriosis. After 2 months, the third transfer was done by the other doctor who really inexperienced/highly painful (because of my request which I regretted immensely) and then the 4th with him was successful. Yes they have a lot of volume- I look at it as a good thing because they’ve seen it all. I am not a routine case, and they were able to treat me because of their experience. The multiple locations and early morning monitoring hours was very convenient

Unsuccessful
Horrible bed-side manner. No visible compassion or empathy at all. He [Dr. Alan Copperman] just has a blank stare in his face all the time. Honestly I preferred when routine appointments were handled by someone other than him because at least they'd tell me what was going on. After our initial consult i only saw him once or twice if he happed to be there while i was doing monitoring. He never emailed me or called me with results, that was always done by a nurse or the coordinator (but those changed all the time so it was never consistent). And at the end they all forgot if they had given me results so I didn't hear from them in days and eventually got critical information via email.
RMA is a beast. They're so busy that you're just another person there. It translated all the way from the reception staff to the doctor (the one we had, as I cannot speak for all). Scheduling is hard, wait times are super long, information is lost or misplaced. Just not the right fit for me...They couldn't get our insurance info correctly, or progyny info correctly, they tried to bill us without billing the insurance. Took over a week to reply to emails. A mess.

What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Alan Copperman at RMA of New York?
Don't go to Alan Copperman. There are amazing doctors in this city, don't waste your time and energy with him.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Alan Copperman at RMA of New York?
I should've requested a different doctor from the start. Our initial consultation with Dr. Copperman wasn't great. I had just found out that my brother has a balanced translocation so I told him about that and that I could have it to and his response was "oh no". As if I needed to feel more anxious or uncertain. We kept going because we wanted to get all the tests done and once it was confirmed I had the translocation too, we felt we were against the clock so might as well go with him. Also, he's the medical director there so we thought we must be in good hands. We were wrong. During the 4 months of tests, prep and during our first IVF cycle we were switched from coordinator to coordinator 3 times. Often times we weren't informed so we were emailing the wrong person and would see they no longer worked there. After we sent our embryos out for testing, they forgot to give us the results. they didn't communicate internally to know if someone had or hadn't called us and we got an email that pretty much said better luck next time. It was awful.
Describe your experience with the nursing staff at RMA of New York.
As mentioned earlier, I didn't have one nurse and one coordinator, but many as they kept leaving the practice. That should've been my first cue to run. But their worst mistake was forgetting to call me to deliver critical care information, PGT results that were abnormal, and having us find out through email in a careless way was rough. I was in shock. I sent them a long email giving them feedback and complaining about the lack of care, kindness and compassion, and only received a ton of excuses.

What specific things went wrong at RMA of New York?
  • Lost paperwork
  • Failed to call with results
  • Failed to send your chart to another clinic
  • Failed to inform you of changes in protocol
  • Lost results
  • Failed to convey critical information
Describe the specific things that went wrong at RMA of New York.
Lost paperwork. Failed to give call us and give us critical care information, as in the results of our PGT-SR testing. So many different nurses and coordinators just not keeping info on track or communicating properly with each other or with us. Then excuses after truly messing up on not giving us our embryo results. And the doctor never even wrote us to say that he was sorry that happened or that it wasn't the norm there. They just pretended that everything was fine. And then took super long to release our paperwork. Horrible.

How was your experience with Tia Jackson-Bey at RMA of New York?
When I first met Dr. Jackson-Bey I was open and honest about my bad experience from the previous fertility clinic. Going through fertility issues is alot emotionally and mentally. I expressed to Dr. Jackson-Bey my desires to have a child of my own. She went over my previous cycle as well as expressed why the cycle option she selected for me would be beneficial. From my first visit, I immediately experienced positive variations from my first clinic. She gave me 3D sonogram because I had some fibrous. She also was able to explain in detail what additional test as well as prenatal vitamins to help support me with my cycle.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Tia Jackson-Bey at RMA of New York?
Be positive. I struggled a-lot with not being empathetic. I felt as though I was Dr. Jackson Bey only patient when I knew I wasn't. I would say to also be patient with how fast she responds back to your email. Other than that, in my experience I had a wonderful with Dr. Jackson-Bey and her amazing staff at RMANY
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Tia Jackson-Bey at RMA of New York?
Dr. Bey- Jackson was amazing. From our first consultation to my current situation she has been great. Every question I had she answered openly and honestly. As a women of color, it was important to me and my partner to find a doctor whom had familiarity of health concerns that arrises for my demographic. Dr. Bey- Jackson is the type of doctor that families having issues with infertility need.
Describe the protocols Tia Jackson-Bey used in your cycles at RMA of New York and their degree of success.
My first cycle that wasn't conducted at RMANY, I did a natural cycle. My first cycle didn't result in a pregnancy. After going over my results, it was discovered I had endometriosis and needed further treatment before going through another cycle. I also have PCOS and low thyroid issues. Dr. Jackson Bey suggested for this cycle I try a medicated cycle. I first started with injections to help me produce quality eggs. On the day of my egg retrieval, I could bailey walk and I didn't know why until my retrieval was over. Dr Jackson Bey was able to retrieve 40 eggs. From the 40, 30 eggs fertilized and 26 turned into embryos. At my previous clinic, my doctor was only able to retrieve 12 eggs and 7 fertilized and 4 turned into embryos . Me and my partner decided to do PGT testing to eliminate not having a successful cycle. We only tested 4 embryos and out of the 4, 1 came back abnormal. PGT wasn't covered by my insurance so it cost us about $2,400 and to have each embryo tested was $150 per embryo. Once we got the results back, we completed our Transfer in May and in 2 weeks we got the positive news that our prays have been answered and Dr. Jackson Bey confirmed that we were pregnant. I still cant believe it. Dr Jackson Bey was able to look at my medical history and determine the best cycle option for me and my partner.

Describe the costs associated with your care under Tia Jackson-Bey at RMA of New York.
My medical insurance covered my cycle. My out of pocket cost were co-pays, cost of medication (varies by cycle), PGT testing ($2400) and embryo testing ($150 per embryo)
Describe Tia Jackson-Bey's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at RMA of New York.
Dr. Jackson Bey suggested one embryo transfer due to my age as well as the risk factors that come with multiple pregnancy. Me and my partner did desire to have twins but we understood and respected her expertise.

Dr. Flisser is straightforward and kind. For some, the stress and trauma of infertility may require a more sugar-coated approach but for me his style allowed me to feel supported, informed, and that I was in charge of my fertility and decisions. He was compassionate about my medical history and gave guidance that was truthful but addressed my specific concerns. I felt I could ask him anything and get a high quality, honest, well intentioned answer...
The office [RMA of New York] is a well run machine. It is efficient, clean, and organized. Once you go a few times you get the hang of how monitoring works so don’t be intimidated by the regularls who know what they’re doing. Mondays and Fridays are a little busy so prepare to wait a little longer...All the nurses at RMA are kind, helpful and supportive. They are your cheerleaders! Leyla in particular goes above and beyond to make her patients feel in control and provides comfort during what can be an otherwise isolating time...

Do not mistake his honest and straightforward nature for a lack of kindness or compassion. He is brilliant and an excellent resource.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Eric Flisser at RMA of New York?
Dr. Flisser helped me evaluate my options with regard to using embryos from a prior retrieval vs natural pregnancy. He was straightforward and kind and supported my decision to try naturally.
Describe the protocols Eric Flisser used in your cycles at RMA of New York and their degree of success.
I had frozen embryos from a previous cycle w Dr. grunfeld (retired in 2020). I came back to RMA to understand how IVF worked when you already had embryos and to evaluate my options. After a few cycles of trying on my own, Dr. Flisser allowed me to continue a natural cycle but with monitoring which helped me feel comforted that I wasn’t wasting my time and ultimately yielded a (so far) successful natural pregnancy!

How was your experience with Erkan Buyuk at RMA of New York?
Great doctor with excellent bedside manner. He is very well skilled inverse in fertility especially with patients of advanced maternal age. I felt listen to and well taken care of during my procedures and all pre meetings. There was a time when I had a question about a medication and the nurse was out for the day so I sent him an email and he responded that he would take care of it. As opposed to pushing me off to the next day when the nurse was in. I really appreciate that.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Erkan Buyuk at RMA of New York?
Trust the process and ask lots of questions even the ones that seem trivial.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Erkan Buyuk at RMA of New York?
The doctor provided clear information about each procedure and our options. When we initially met he was interested in learning about me and my husband and made us feel very comfortable. During the day of my transfer Dr. B was very informative very calm and the staff made me feel very comfortable.

I did not do any of the stimulation medication’s with Dr. B. He took over my car after my previous doctor retired and he let me through my transfer.
