Dr. Plosker referred to us by name at each visit, he made arrangements to make a specific test (HSG) less anxiety-inducing for me given my history with pain...he verbalized the hardship that our 3 previous miscarriages had caused and acknowledged the difficulty and frustration that we were experiencing - something that NONE of my OB/GYN's (all female) ever acknowledged or provided support for during any of my 3 losses the last 2 years.
I have worked with [Shady Grove Fertility] at mainly the Brandon location, but have occasionally had to visit the Westshore location for specific tests. SGF clearly has procedures and practices in place that provide consistency among each location/staff members and professionalism in how they interact with patients...always received an email checking in with me after any procedure/surgery...emails were always compassionate and professional.
How was your experience with Shayne Plosker at Shady Grove Fertility Florida?
While we interviewed another fertility doctor/clinic, we ultimately made the decision to work with Dr. Plosker, which was an easy decision for us to make. Given my complex reproductive history, it was clear from the first consult that Dr. Plosker had taken the time to review my history before our meeting, as he had a very good understanding of it - which was not my experience with other doctors. My husband appreciated his straightforward delivery of information, which was always discussed with optimism and a plan for next steps. I personally left each appointment in a better mood than when I arrived - he has a way of making each step seem less daunting without dismissing the difficulty of the process. I had 2 sedated procedures and a laparoscopy, each of which was done by Dr. Plosker, and had great experiences with each.

From the first consult to the several visits, tests, and a surgery (RPL panel, US, hysteroscopy and HSG, laparoscopy, semen analysis) I had with Dr. Plosker and his team to diagnose my recurrent miscarriages, my husband and I always felt that our questions, concerns and needs were heard and validated. Dr. Plosker referred to us by name at each visit, he made arrangements to make a specific test (HSG) less anxiety-inducing for me given my history with pain, and most importantly, he verbalized the hardship that our 3 previous miscarriages had caused and acknowledged the difficulty and frustration that we were experiencing - something that NONE of my OB/GYN's (all female) ever acknowledged or provided support for during any of my 3 losses the last 2 years.

The care coordinator that we were assigned to was honestly one of the reasons I would recommend this doctor as much as I do. Having someone to easily contact with any questions or concerns made moving forward in the (complicated) process so much easier. I always received an email checking in with me after any procedure/surgery. Communicated was typically returned within 24 hours, and emails were always compassionate and professional.

As Dr Plosker is now at Shady Grove Fertility, I have worked with this clinic at mainly the Brandon location, but have occasionally had to visit the Westshore location for specific tests. Dr. Silva prescribed an antagonist protocol with OCPs to prime...has been extremely caring and compassionate throughout our time with SGF. We went from an unexplained infertility diagnosis and a plan of trying a few IUIs to requiring IVF with PGT-M to avoid passing down a genetic disease. While it was devastating to find out that my husband and I are both carriers, Dr. Silva explained the diagnosis, our options, and came up with a treatment plan that made us both feel empowered and excited to move forward with the goal of a healthy baby.
My main nurse [at Shady Grove] is Emily and she is absolutely fantastic! Even though I'm sure she has multiple patients, I always feel like I am a priority. I switched to SGF from another clinic in the area and I am extremely pleased with every aspect of the care I have received here. The only complaint I have is how long it took to get in for a consult. Even that is a strength though, since it speaks to how good the clinic is.

My only experience so far with Dr Plosker was a consultation but I liked him. He took the time to discuss my options for fertility preservation. He explained the process and took time to answer any questions I had. The one thing I did notice is that the consultation was approached with an assumption I had not made a final decision on pursuing the treatment and that I had not done thorough research so some information was repetitive to what I had already learned through my own research
There was some confusion as I thought the [Shady Grove Fertility] financial consultant who was out on the day of my appointment would be calling me but instead she sent all information through the patient portal. This was a miscommunication on how the process would happen and not bad but did delay in me getting the financial information initially. I do like their options for retrieval guarantees if you qualify and overall found the facility and the people in it very good

Initial consultation so the discussion or treatment was primarily limited to options and discussions of the initial testing.

The clinic in my experience was good. The worker at the front desk was extremely helpful and the case worker I met with after the doctor was very helpful. There was some confusion as I thought the financial consultant who was out on the day of my appointment would be calling me but instead she sent all information through the patient portal. This was a miscommunication on how the process would happen and not bad but did delay in me getting the financial information initially. I do like their options for retrieval guarantees if you qualify and overall found the facility and the people in it very good. I do plan to do a consultation with at least one other facility as I do not want to hastily decide on who to use for such an important process without first considering multiple options but this would be the case no matter what clinic I first visited. I believe I am likely to decide to pursue the fertility preservation process with Shady Grove Fertility.

They are warm, kind and knowledgeable...called me that day as well, and she and the other nurse did an excellent job coordinating my D&C and after care...Cash IUIs typically run about $3000. We do not know what we paid for the D&C...They have the benefit of sharing best practices across their 20+ offices and have developed tools that assess the likelihood of a successful pregnancy

Silva called after every cycle (successful or failed). When we lost the baby, he met with us personally (he did not do the US where we couldn't find a heartbeat). When we found out the pregnancy was molar, he made the phone call to me, rather than a nurse.

IUI #1 was kind of a joke and Silva refuses to recognize it as a real cycle. We were referred to SGF after our previous clinic, USF, abruptly closed. We had our consult on CD5. Given the PCOS diagnosis, we opted to start a cycle late, rather than possibly wait 40 days to start another. We did 5mg Letrozole on CD5-10, the follicles were maturing, but slowly, and my body surged before we were ready to trigger. The cycle failed. IUI #2 we started 7.5mg of letrozole on CD3-8. Monitoring went well, we had a 23mm dominant follicle and a second at around 17. This IUI was successful, but we lost the heartbeat in the 9th week. It appears that we had a tripoloid, and post D&C, the pathology report revealed a molar pregnancy.

SGF has a better "feel" than most clinics. It's clean, bright, and everyone is clearly on one team. They have the benefit of sharing best practices across their 20+ offices and have developed tools that assess the likelihood of a successful pregnancy. Our experience with them has been great.

As a married person wanting to freeze eggs for a post-divorce embryo transfer, I initially felt very sensitive about being welcome. It's a touchy subject and Dr. Silva did his best to communicate limitations (medical, legal). He showed good effort to make me feel welcome.

Dr. Silva asked me to repeat standard bloodwork to be sure of my levels of Estrogen and other hormones that are impacted due to my underlying condition. He reminded me along the way that moving forward with the best information possible would give the best outcome possible--even though I was concerned that it would delay my retrieval. Because of this, we know a lot more about what level of aggressiveness we will use in my egg retrieval to help my Low AMH and high Estrogen allow my 12 eggs to mature as viably as possible.

Michelle was a goddess during the time of miscommunications, missing paperwork, and high nerves on our part. She was patient, compassionate, and I truly felt like she was vested in the outcome of our fertility journey--like one of my close friends.

Shady Grove has some of the best data in the business because of their large size and long history. Like many places during the pandemic, sometimes the administrative team is overwhelmed by the volume of patients and the being understaffed. If you feel comfortable staying on top of your own plan, you are in really good shape to benefit from their large scale data and know-how.

Overall, we have had a really good experience with Shady Grove. They have multiple locations which are all very convenient. As of April 2022, all new patient consultations and appointments not requiring testing/procedures are done virtually. We were hesitant not to meet in person given the big decisions we were making, but the virtual appointments have been very productive and convenient. The online portal is very helpful to message nurses/docs, pay invoices and even take educational offerings to better understand your care.

It became clear very quickly that the treatment plan was cookie cutter. When that didn’t work for me, he played the blame game and said I wasn’t working hard enough. He body shamed me frequently, and even suggested I should have bariatric surgery (which further delays fertility treatment). We attempted one cycle after standing our ground with him. I never communicated with him once during the portion of the cycle we attempted, and we were unable to complete the cycle as planned. Then we were hit with a bill for ultrasounds that previously had been FREE—suddenly 2 ultrasounds cost 1k! We left knowing that Silva and Shady Grove are not in this to help others—it’s all about numbers and money.

We used Prover to induce a cycle. He made me take a disease of Letrozole that I had previously tried and didn’t have success with even after I said I didn’t want to. He had me taking 1450mg daily of Metformin also.

Shady Grove is clearly a well-run machine. They have a number of offices in the US. And they do a large volume of patients. But we still felt like our case was being specifically looked at, as opposed to just another infertility case.

I am over 40 w decent numbers. My husband does not have a low sperm count, but he doesn’t have great sperm. We did one IUI and 2 rounds of IVF w our own eggs. My numbers were decent for my age so the same medications were used for our second round of IVF, just w slightly higher doses. We did ICSI and also did PGT testing. I would not suggest doing the PGT testing. There are too many studies out there that show it is t a perfect science and that perfectly good embryos are actually being discarded bc of the testing. Shady Grove will not transfer any abnormal or mosaic embryos. I understand that not transferring them can save the patient from some heart ache, but after much thought, I think the heart ache is better than the results of the PGT. Especially when it results in zero embryos to transfer, as it did w us.

I had previously done 2 50mg clomid cycles with my OBGYN, which did not make me ovulate. I did achieve spontaneous pregnancy upon my initial consulation with USF IVF. However, I miscarried that baby. USF IVF then merged with shady grove. So coming to Dr. Silva he understood that I wanted to start IUI since I do not ovulate regularly on my own at all. First IUI he tried 5 mg of letrozole since clomid did not make me ovulate previously. 1 follicle matured and I had my IUI day 19. negative pregnancy test. For the 2nd IUI we increased letrozole to 7.5mg and I had 1 follcile mature again but had my IUI day 12! Negative pregnancy test. Now I am choosing to move onto IVF which Dr Silva agrees with or even agrees with me doing 2 more IUI's.

Once I completed all my blood work it was known I needed a medication for elevated hormone levels in my blood so I needed a medication treatment called cabergoline 0.5mg once per week for 1 month, the medication made me feel funny at first but then my body got adjusted. Also had a test to check my Fallopian tube which came out normal. When all the testing was completed he and us decided on IUI cycles, he directed us to the financial team and we discussed cost. Once all was settled unfortunately we had to stop due to a family member diagnosed with breast cancer.

We had an antagonist protocol [with Dr. Silva]. I did birth control pills to prime. Once we started stims, I was on agonal F and Menopur. Cetrotide was added later. I did a Lupron trigger. I ended up with 14 Mature Eggs, 13 fertilized, 6 day 5 Blasts and then 4 PGS normal...He really cares about his patients. He takes the time to explain everything, and he is present for all of the procedures and tests...has a great bedside manner. He also takes the time to listen during your appointment. I've never felt rushed. He also kept budget in kind when discussing treatment options. I really do not have any complaints with his care.
Every person in this office [Shady Grove Fertility] has been incredibly caring, hard working and responsive. I've never had to track down test results because they call as soon as they can. They are prompt to return emails and calls if you have a question for them...The monitering hours are early, so I'm able to get in and out without being late for work...We were accepted into a program through Shadh Grove that reduced some of the out of pocket costs, so our IUI was $1,200.00 plus meds. We also opted to do the Shared Risk program, which is a multi cycle program that clocks in at $19,500. We opted to do PGS testing, which was an additional $5,000. The medication cost about $2,900.

We had an antagonist protocol. I did birth control pills to prime. Once we started stims, I was on agonal F and Menopur. Cetrotide was added later. I did a Lupron trigger. I ended up with 14 Mature Eggs, 13 fertilized, 6 day 5 Blasts and then 4 PGS normal.

Every person in this office has been incredibly caring, hard working and responsive. I've never had to track down test results because they call as soon as they can. They are prompt to return emails and calls if you have a question for them.

I honestly do not have any complaints about Shady Grove. They have all been wonderful. Their hours are good and the location is easy to get to from where I live. Billing has always been on top of everything and ready to answer questions. Scheduling appointments has been an easy process.

I only checked other because when I started going there, i was given appointment times. Now they are trying out the monitering hours. The monitering hours are early, so I'm able to get in and out without being late for work.

We were accepted into a program through Shadh Grove that reduced some of the out of pocket costs, so our IUI was $1,200.00 plus meds. We also opted to do the Shared Risk program, which is a multi cycle program that clocks in at $19,500. We opted to do PGS testing, which was an additional $5,000. The medication cost about $2,900.

He gave us several different options for treatment and ultimately left the decision up to us. He also explained programs offered to help financially with any of the treatments!... I will be completing another cycle for IUI and Dr. Silva will be changing medications used- different from Clomid and Ovidrel.

Give Dr. Silva a shot before you try any other fertility doctor in the Tampa Bay Area. There’s a good chance it’ll be worth it.

So far my husband and I have only met with Dr. Silva for our initial consultation. He spent an hour with us going over health records and previous treatment plan. He immediately changed the action plan and provided explanations as to why. He stopped by to say goodbye to us and his office has been in touch with me since giving me details on the action plan and what to do next. We genuinely feel they are there to help.

I have not started treatments with Dr. Silva just yet but next month I will be completing another cycle for IUI and Dr. Silva will be changing medications used- different from Clomid and Ovidrel.

Wonderful place to go [Shady Grove Fertility], I have no complaints at all and have appreciated every step of the process so far. Sometimes I did have to wait a while to get me in but it wasn't tooo long. They were pretty backed up the morning of my first FET, but it was unpredictable. ... they [nursing staff] all took their time with us. Made sure we understood everything and were comfortable with everything that they were doing. One had even been through the process herself and knew what we were going through which was nice.

We have done two cycles so far. First cycle we did 2 letrozole for 5 days, one ovidrel shot and the IUI. On the 2nd cycle, we did 3 letrozole for 5 days and two ovidrel shots before the IUI.

Leslie is very organized and provides a calendar each month for me so I know what medications to take and when. She was also very sympathetic when she called with my negative pregnancy test results and was already prepared with a new (stronger) protocol for the next months cycle.

SGF is very organized and the offices are very clean. I am working from home, so I’m not sure about flexibility when it comes to scheduling appointments as I just always take what’s given to me. As the appointments are based on your cycle, they come quickly and at any open slot, so I can see how it might be difficult for someone in the office or working a job that isn’t as flexible.

Describe the protocols Celso Silva used in your cycles at Shady Grove Fertility Florida and their degree of success.
Since ours was mild male factor, our first protocol was to start with IUI. I did a medicated cycle taking letrozole for 5 days and then checked my follicles a week later. Once they were checked to see how they were doing i would usually go back in 1 more time to be sure they were growing to pace and then they would direct me to take the ovidril shot to induce ovulation 36 hours later. Then the IUI procedure was 35 hours later

My husband and I are given plenty of time to ask questions in consult [with Shady Grove Fertility]...I truly feel that Dr. Silva cares. He gives plenty of time to ask questions and is very clear that ultimately the treatment choice is up to us. He is very thorough in explaining what is happening and what to expect. He also calls when there is a negative pregnancy test...First round of IUI was 5 mg letrozole plus Ovidrel for trigger and Endometrin for progesterone. They usually prescribe something else for progesterone that is less expensive but I have a peanut allergy and it had peanuts in it. Second IUI increased letrozole to 7.5 mg and added estradiol orally to thicken uterine lining. Third IUI same as second except estradiol taken vaginally instead of orally.
The clinic [Shady Grove Fertility] is great, nice facility, very friendly and helpful staff. The only drawback is I believe they are very busy so it may be difficult to get an appointment as a new patient. The location of the clinic is also very convenient, it is located in a prime business area and I am able to walk there from my work...My husband and I are given plenty of time to ask questions in consult. When detail is that when I started as a new patient, I told him I had a peanut allergy. However when I was prescribed for progesterone supplement, it has peanuts in it, so I had to go back to them and ask for a different medication.

When something did not work, he was already planning the next protocol. What is so amazing is that his last protocol worked! I am now 8 weeks pregnant and over the moon with excitement. I have Dr. Imudia and God to thank for this miracle baby growing inside.
Shady Grove Fertility is a wonderful place to receive care. It is emotionally and physically hard to go through IVF however Shady Grove and their amazing staff make it much easier.
