Dr. Tran was really on the spot about why we were having trouble conceiving. It's true his bedside manner is more cut and dry. He doesn't do much to try to connect with you on a personal level like other doctors might, but what I liked about him that I didn't get from other doctors (we were with another clinic and then switched, and I had interviewed a third clinic before deciding on spring) was the flexibility with the plan that I was looking for. Dr. Tran was the only fertliity doctor I saw (out of 3) who explained very clearly the expected normal timeline and steps for IVF, and more importantly, was the only doctor who explicitly offered to consider a modified natural transfer (no progesterone shots). I have a huge needle phobia and hate hormone drugs (but got desperate enough to try IVF), so the idea that there was flexibility there was really tempting. I did have to do the research on my own independently to find out that in some cases (such as mine) there's really no difference in positive results between a medicated and natural transfer but Dr. Tran was right. And, I was successful (so far - we are almost in the 2nd trimester now). The other great thing about Dr. Tran and Spring (which again, I think is what you get instead of lots of warm fuzzy interactions etc ) was the efficiency. I had my initial consultation at Spring during a time when they lost 2 or 3 doctors, yet Dr. Tran got me in for a consult and onto retrieval meds as soon as possible. There was no waiting line (at my first clinic, we had made the decision to move forward in October but could not start the process until January), no issues with not having shelf space for my embryos, etc.

As other people have mentioned, make sure you read all the materials they give you and do your research and have a list of questions ready when you are meeting with him.

Antagonist protocol, aggressive drugs. My retrieval was disappointing. The expectation given my blood test results and follicle counts was that I would get at least 15-20 eggs (even at my advanced age); however, only 7 were retrieved, and only 1 embryo tested PGT normal. By some miracle (or very good work on the part of the embryologists and the Spring team), this embryo stuck. The plan if the embryo didn't stick was to move to a mid-luteal phase retrieval next, so Dr. Tran is open to changing protocols.

I was insured under Progyny, so didn't deal with billing much.

No comments. We were committed to a single transfer from our discussions with our prior doctor so didn't discuss this with Dr. Tran. We also only had 1 embryo to transfer.

I cannot recommend Dr. Harris enough. There are many options for IVF in the Bay Area and we could not be happier that he is our doctor. He is extremely intelligent and kicks butt at his job, but he’s very special in his ability to relate to his patients. He truly cares and goes above and beyond. Dr. Harris was so understanding and compassionate, something we needed after 3 miscarriages and a whole lot of anxiety. His projections (for egg retrieval, etc) were spot on, and he was always happy to answer my 100 questions and allay my fears. We would choose him again and again and recommend him to anyone and everyone. I should add that he is successful - as we currently have a perfect 5 week old boy after our 1 retrieval and 1 transfer :)

Dr. Vaughn was our assigned doctor when we started our IVF journey back in Oct/Nov 2021. Right from our very first visit she was very informational, friendly and empathetic. She got our requirements during our first meeting, which was immediate pregnancy. She was very attentive to our needs during every visit and gave us excellent care. We have a healthy, 2 week old, newborn now and it is all because of Dr. Vaughn's care, expertise and dexterity with embryo transfer earlier in 2022. Dr. Sara Vaughn is one of the best in the IVF field in Southbay.

Dr. Vaughn was always educating us about the IVF procedure, also suggested us to go through another extraction cycle but when we insisted that we would like to get pregnant asap and think about next cycle in the future, she obliged with utmost care and empathy. She was always there to help us in every which way possible through the long IVF process.

Dr. Vaughn is a strong advocate of e-SET. She has educated us about the several advantages of e-SET compared to the complications that might arise from Multiple Embryo Transfers.

As previously mentioned, Dr. Lee is a compassionate and highly competent fertility specialist. Throughout the entire consultation, her ability to create a warm and safe environment helped me to feel at ease the entire time. She normalized starting to consider IVF and imagining how it will be can be scary while assuring me that she and her team will be with every step of the way. I enjoyed how she listened deeply without interrupting me and followed up with questions. I enjoyed her sense of humor which enhanced my sense of comfort during our appointment. She was extremely thorough in explaining what my treatment would entail and throughout the entire process, she would always check-in to ensure that I understood (I also appreciated the visuals she provided me with). Overall, I truly appreciated her gentle and compassionate presence and naturally her expertise. She embodies what you hope a doctor possesses (extreme competence, authenticity, and compassion), it is hard to find a doctor that has all these qualities. I am grateful she is my doctor as I feel safe and supported under her care.

I would advise them to be honest and open about all your concerns and not hold anything back, as the more information you share with Dr. Lee, the more compassionate and effective care she can provide you with.

We went to Dr. Harris after suffering two miscarriages and seemingly no longer able to get pregnant. Dr. Harris was very optimistic even though we were not but it was nice to feel like we had someone in our corner. He went over what he thought would be the best course of action for us and heard our concerns and we agreed to go forward with IVF. Other than our first two embryo transfers which were done at the SF lab (Sunnyvale wasn't open yet), Dr. Harris handled every procedure I had, every appointment, and every transfer. He was always there to answer questions. Even on the bad days I would have a chuckle with him and was able to hold on the hope that one day we'd have good news. Dr. Harris has an amazing ability to make you feel safe and secure in the fact that he is doing all he can for you and your care but also keep things lighthearted and fun which is hard to do with such a delicate and personal situation like infertility.

We found Dr. Harris to be very optimistic, which is great but at times I just wasn't there. I couldn't be optimistic and I told him that. He respected that and held that hope for us but allowed us the space to feel discouraged.

Overall costs were close to $70k. This cost included 2 retrievals, 4 FET, genetic testing, medications, and other miscellaneous costs specific to my care.

Dr. Vaughn was everything I would hope from a fertility doctor. She took time to get to know myself & my husband. She understood I needed to have a plan a,b,&c. Her team was quick to answer my questions & I never felt like I was as bothering her. I never felt rushed during our appointments & on the off times I was seen by the on call doctor she was always hands on & would check in. I never felt alone which to me is the most important.

Never be afraid to ask questions & advocate for yourself

This would be a novel if I went through all my cycles. Long story short, Dr. Vaughn & I used each cycle as a learning opportunity to see what my body responded to & what didn’t work. What I appreciated is that each cycle was it’s own no cookie cutter cycle each was based on where my body was at at that time & would try something new like adding supplements to help. Dr Vaughn helped me through each round every step of the way.

For both transfers of my day 3 embryos we transferred 2 the first time & 3 the second time. Due to the fact I had bad egg quality the chances of even one taking were low enough it was worth transferring more than one. Dr. Vaughn & I talked a lot about this before making the decision & in the end she would share what she suggests but it was always my decision

After my (very short) intake appointment, Dr. Vaughn proceeded to have us go through all the labs to get started with treatment and required me to see a hematologist. I’m in my 30’s and have never had a bleeding disorder. This requirement to see a hematologist made no sense, but I went because we wanted to get moving with IVF. The hematologist laughed when I saw him and said he had no idea why Dr. Vaughn was wasting my time with the appointment. After getting cleared by the hematologist and having done all the labs, we thought we were moving forward. So I was shocked to get a call from a patient rep (not even Dr. Vaughn herself) stating she wasn’t going to move forward working with us. Basically she doesn’t want to work with couples of our religion. She clearly knew that she felt that way from the start. There was no effort made to assist us in the next steps. The day after that call from the patient rep, I saw a call come in from the Spring Clinic. I wasn’t able to answer as I was with my own patients, but assumed a message would be left. No message was left, but I continued to be called over and over between 4:07pm and 5:56pm. At that point I felt like I was being harassed. Turns out it was Dr. Vaughn calling over and over. The lack of professionalism in calling someone that many times in a row is appalling. Any provider with an ounce of common sense would leave a message and wait for a return call. I never did get to speak to her. I ended up spending with the founder of the clinic, Dr. Tran. I didn’t feel I got very far with him; he noted it would be hard for us to move to another doctor within the clinic because Dr. Vaughn is the medical director so she is over the other doctors at the clinic. So basically it wasn’t worth it to even see a different doctor at Spring because our case had already been tarnished by her opinion of us. He agreed we would be refunded for what we had paid for. I ended up working with the VP of Operations to get a refund. She had the nerve to send us a document saying we had to sign an agreement that included a confidentiality clause which would prohibit us from discussing our experience with anyone, including other doctors. We refused. If they want us to sign a confidentiality agreement it’s because they know she did something wrong and they don’t want anyone to know. We did end up getting a refund after a lot of back and forth. Shame on them for making it so stressful after what we had already gone through! We have since started treatment at another fertility clinic. My initial consult at the new clinic was very thorough and we were treated with respect. Now that I realize the level of care and respect I should have received by Dr. Vaughn, but clearly didn’t, I feel that she is a disgrace to the medical community.

Go anywhere else! This woman has zero respect for a patient’s individuality. She will only help those who fit her mold of what a patient should be. She has no remorse for wasting our time and money.

Dr Lee was absolutely amazing! She's incredibly supportive, easily accessible, invested in my care, not to mention genuinely authentic. Never dismissed any questions. She walked me through every scenario, what to expect next, etc. I honestly felt to at ease under her care. I knew I was in good hands. I think it helped that I had something to compare to as well - it was night and day. I couldn't have asked for a better doctor on my side

Don't be afraid to ask any, and all questions. You have to be your own advocate.

The clinic is known for mid-luteal protocol. We had a very good success with this. Had 15 follicles at baseline, ultimately, 13 retrieved, 12 mature, 8 blasts, total of 4 euploid. Dr. Lee changed my dosage as needed to synchronize the growth of each follicle.

We honestly couldn't have imagined a better experience. Dr. Vaughn is thoughtful, compassionate, professional, and always patiently and meticulously answered all of our questions. She was thoroughly prepared from the start, with slides to walk us through what to expect, presented it in an optimistic manner that was balanced by an honest appraisal, very data-driven but in a way even those without medical background can understand, and never missed the human element, even with the challenge of a virtual consultation amidst the first major wave of COVID-19. Added together this was very reassuring to us as the IVF journey can seem quite intimidating. Dr. Vaughn also planned the treatment according to our needs. At our first appointment, we told her if possible we'd like to plan having more than one child in the future. Based on the first egg retrieval results, she suggested a second one for a more comfortable margin of success given our family planning. Although we had been trying for more than a year and I wanted to be pregnant as soon as possible, we felt comfortable with her advice because she explained in detail the multitude of reasons why this was the smarter choice. After following her plan, we now should have enough healthy embryos.

Don’t hesitate to ask questions. Dr. Vaughn is very patient and she explains everything very clearly. It certainly helps ease a lot of potential anxiety. I remember after my first transfer failed, I asked Dr. Vaughn if we should implant multiple embryos instead of one to increase the chance of success. She told me that not only it will increase the risk of multiple births, it is also possible I’ll lose multiple healthy embryos if my body isn’t well-prepared. My second transfer was successful. Hang in there and don't give up.

We were very lucky to have our treatments covered by insurance.

Dr. Harris took the time to explain the process, set clear expectation backed by research numbers and explained the risks. I've done my research before the consultation and asked a lot of questions - he was warm and patient, willing to pause to explain/elaborate on what he said and let me take the time to take notes and digest the information. As a person who really need to understand the data behind the decision to feel comfortable with the process, I really appreciate the time he took.

It's a good idea to attend Spring's workshop to get an idea of the process; do your research and bring your questions/concerns to the consultation. Take the time you need to feel comfortable and understand the process.

Injections with Gonal-F, menopur, and trigger shots. I never had any negative reactions to the drugs.

From the very first visit he was open and honest of all risk of each treatment and which one he recommended giving I have PCOS. During treatment I had a death in the family and he remembered and checked on us each visit. After my second miscarriage he reassured me it wasn’t my fault and made sure I wasn’t blaming myself (which I was) and kept the line of communication open after I decided to take a break.

Ask all the questions because I’ll give you all the honest answers. He prefers IUI over timed intercourse but does everything.

All three times we did letrozole after my period then the trigger shot (ovidrel) 5-7 days later after making sure my follicles grown to a certain size. The first no results which he explained was normal, the second and third time I became pregnant and the both ended in miscarriages.

My job insurance covered it. So I’m not 100% sure.

Doctor Harris was a gem - as are all the doctors at Spring Sunnyvale. Our original doctor, Dr Vaughn, left the clinic in the middle of our treatment and so our retrieval was handled by Dr Lee and our transfer by Dr Harris. I have seen all the doctors at Spring now - and i have lovely things to say about all of them. Dr Harris was upbeat, friendly and seemed invested in our success. He was a joy to work with and I cant recommend him enough.

I had a wonderful patient experience. Dr Vaughn was very thorough in all of her interactions and communication. She clearly outlined all options. She treated my husband and I was kindness and compassion.

There is so much information when it comes to infertility. Dr Vaughn will answer all of your questions and go over all options that you are interested in exploring. She is an excellent doctor.

Treatments used were medications and IVF. I am considered advanced age snd have experienced one loss prior to beginning treatment with Dr Vaughn. Dr Vaughn knew that time was of the essence and we wanted the best outcome.

The doctors approach was single embryo transfer. I was in full agreement as the goal was one healthy pregnancy.

Dr. Lee is the most perfect combination of intelligent, kind, proactive, caring, knowledgeable and experienced. Graduating from her care and moving on to an OB was the most bittersweet experience. If I could have Dr Lee as my OB, primary care and the pediatrician for my daughter, that would be the absolute best.

Don’t hesitate! Once my blood tests came back normal at my primary care dr, I was told to wait until it had been a year before looking into fertility issues. As someone who hadn’t ovulated once in 5 months, I didn’t want to do that because I knew something was wrong. Dr. Lee looked into things that other doctors missed, and we were extremely blessed to be successful in our first cycle (even through Dr. Lee made it clear that we would take these steps for the first 3-6 cycles, and that it’s normal for it to take some time).

We used 5mg of Letrozole for 5 days, to induce ovulation, followed by one shot of Ovidrel once we saw that I had a mature follicle. It was perfect and very easy.

He made us feel comfortable throughout the entire process. We trusted him and his judgement 100%. Very professional, compassionate, and charismatic. The appointments were never rushed. He took time to answer all of our questions. Always on time so we were able to get in and out.

Best Doctor ever!

The first cycle of IVF was the egg retrieval process. Had to take injections every day. We used donor sperm and ended up with 8 great embryos. Did a frozen embryo transfer with both pregnancies. No injections, just a trigger shot. Ended up pregnant the first time with both transfers.

Our insurance covered it the first time. After losing that insurance we paid 6k for the embryo transfer on our 2nd pregnancy.

Couldn’t explain or get an answer for success rate from success calculator. I asked for how many live births from people who thawed their eggs, doctor got defensive. When I asked for SF lab, it was discouraged. Didn’t feel comfortable to ask questions, came back more confused than before. She kept saying that I don’t have a crystal ball to tell you everything. When I mentioned about if I should start now vs next year for insurance purposes, she was like you have to start immediately and then when I asked more questions, I was told that I am not confident or ready and can’t start process immediately - instead of my questions being answered. I left crying after my first appointment.

Dr. Lee is very smart and practiced so I trust her at the beginning of the consultation. Then, we decide to work with her immediately which is the best decision we've made. Dr. Lee makes the best plan for my IVF treatment and instructs us step by step. I feel happy and warm during every visit. Dr. Lee is my lucky angel, it couldn't work without her effort. After half year treatment (including retreaval and transfer), I am pregant and have several best embryos for future babies. Dr.Lee's magic work is much byond our expectation!

Working with Dr. Lee is very simple, just trust her and the whole team. Follow all the instructions and relax! IVF treatment can be a happy journey.

I use Lupron, Pregnyl, and Gonal-f for egg retrieval. Dr. Lee instructs me to adjust the dose after ultrasound and blood draw. The results of the two retrieves are surprises- we have several best quality embryos. I use Ovidrel and Medrol for transfer. Embryo transfer is much easier than retrieval. I am pregnant after the transfer and the baby is very healthy and strong.

I was lucky to find Dr. Lee who finally ended the IVF journey for me, who is generally healthy, volunteered to do IVF to have a baby efficiently (and also egg freezing to save some hope for future), but unfortunately failed even egg retrievals for 4 times in the past 1 year with another well-known clinic. Being 36Y old, with AMH 5.15, FSH normal, AFC 10+ plus totally normal health check up results & generic carrier screening results, I thought my IVF case would be a fairly easy one. But unfortunately I had to go through the egg retrieval process for 4 times with prior clinic, which was totally unexpected. But it is also fortunate that I gained enough experience to compare, and thus confident to tell, what would a good doctor looks like. I don’t want to spend too much time to describe what I experienced with the previous clinic but just let the numbers speak. In the previous clinic, under the protocol defined by a very famous, experienced yet busy doctor, 4 egg retrieval circles in total, I got 26 eggs, 15+ fertilized, and ended up with only 2 D5 blastocysts passed PGT-A (1BB and 1CC). Each time the doctor defined the egg retrieval plan a few months beforehand, never showed up in any of my ultrasounds, and even the final trigger time was what his interns decided based on the doctor’s notes which was written 1 months ago. Every time when I got the upset results and want to discuss further with the doctor, I can only got the time spot like 3~4 weeks later, and for the 30 minutes session the doctor was always 20~25 minutes late. During the rest 5~10 minutes, he just read my charts to refresh his own memory but not be able to provide any more information beyond that. What finally triggered me to change doctor was because the last time I asked again why the egg retrieval results are not as good as expected, the doctor said, “It is just your body acting like age 42 which we can’t help with that at all. But the protocol is already the best solution and we will repeat again next time”. As someone who is fairly confident about her health condition (I work out A LOT) and actively doing research (even though I am not medical background) I don’t buy in that conclusion at all. I wanted to seek for the second opinion. I located Dr. Lee from Spring fertility clinic not by testing my luck again (like I did with the first clinic) but through very careful research of all the major fertility clinics in the bay area this time. I did check the success rate and talked to multiple doctors from different clinics. There are for sure many other famous clinics than Spring fertility, but none of them could start my treatment plan as efficiently as Spring fertility (most would need to wait for a few more months because they are already busy). And there are many doctors who are more experienced than Dr Lee, but none of them is more patient than Dr Lee to listen to my whole experience, to be willing to read my hundreds of charts carefully, to spend time doing more research to customize the protocol, and to dare to give totally different opinions against the prior doctor. I was very clear of what I need this time – I don’t need even bigger clinic names or even more famous doctor, I just need doctor who is knowledgeable enough, and yet caring enough for my case. “I believe there is a customized IVF plan for each patient” - Some doctor just say it, but some really show you the action. Dr Lee is the latter one. I bet on her, and I won this time. My experience with Spring fertility clinic and Dr Lee was excellent, especially when comparing with my previous upsetting experience. Dr Lee spent quality time to understand my charts carefully, and gave totally different protocol (and it works well this time!). Again – let numbers talk – with her protocol, in one round of egg retrieval I got 16 eggs, and in the end got 3 blastocysts passed PGT-A (all are AA/AB level). This is already way better than my previous 4 rounds of egg retrieval results combined!!!!! Also not mentioning that she did every single ultrasound with her own hands, and never missed any one. And yes she did my egg retrieval surgery and egg transfer herself as well. All my questions got patiently answered along the way, and currently when I am typing for this article, I am happily 12-week pregnant. My body condition didn’t change; but what changed the result? It is not the medical knowledge the doctors have, but also the time and effort they are willing to spend on you. Dr Lee has the best medical education and training background that any doctor would admire and she no doubt has enough medical knowledge to do the IVF job. And what’s more important is she works hard, she understands and cares about your suffer, and she treats you as a woman, but not just a number. I highly recommend Dr Lee to anyone who is seeking IVF treatment. You need a good and caring doctor to maximize the opportunity to success since the IVF is a tough and expensive journey. Do some more research on your clinic and doctor before you invest; and hope my experience above could help you to save some effort, emotion, and dollars.

My insurance covered all the cost so I didn't worry about the cost during the whole process.

Sara is very skillful, knowledgeable, professional, efficient, as well as kind. I think she's someone I can fully trust. Once I started my treatment with her, everything happened very smoothly and I'm now 3-month pregnant! I couldn't imagine this at all half a year ago. I did hysteroscopy with her, and then egg retrieval once and embryo transfer once, and then got pregnant! Every step went amazingly well and she always explains things clearly and sets my expectations correctly. Her team is also very well-organized and always treats me with respect, warmth, and optimism. I genuinely appreciate her help. It means a lot to me and my family.

Dr. Sara kept us in loop about everything and had a very honest evaluation of our situation. She was very diligent with all our testing requirements and covered every single aspect of our genetic testing fir example. In fact the thorough testing ordered by her was a breeze for our gynae.

I don’t remember the protocol honestly

Even on his busiest days, Dr. Harris' warmth and curiosity about his patients can be felt the second he enters a room. He's as sharp as he is quirky, and makes a concerted effort to broach every conversation and next step with kindness and transparency. He's made some of the hardest and most emotional periods of my life feel more manageable than I ever thought possible; and, while it's easy to look back on a successful pregnancy positively, I believe what sets Dr. Harris a part is how he handled our "failures." He knows how to balance the necessary problem-solving aspects of IVF with the socio-emotional needs of his patients (which can at times be incongruent). We truly feel we won the lottery with him as our doctor.

Dr. Harris is really great at reading people and disambiguating esoteric medical termology; but, don't be afraid to speak up or ask questions when you have them. Overall, IVF can feel like a blur and even the most seasoned among us tend to forget the order of things. He'll never mind repeating information or writing down a process to help you see the big picture.

We gradually increased our level of medical intervention over 3 IUI and 3 IVF cycles (ie, ICSI / Aygestin priming). Dr. Harris had determined that fully controlling my ovulatory cycle made the most sense for our case and, ultimately, resulted in singleton birth. We plan to follow the same treatment plan for our next transfer(s) when we're ready to try for a second child later this year.

I never had to wait more than 10-minutes to be seen for a scheduled appointment.

All but IUI covered due to change in employer and fertility benefits (I believe each IUI was between ~$800-$1000 per session)

We had (naively) asked Dr. Harris about the possibility of multiple embyro transfer and he explained why Spring does not condone it. That being said, he still took our question seriously and gave us an abbreviated lesson in the risks and benefits associated with both approaches. (Needless to say, with a now-one-year-old in the midst of a pandemic, we can't believe we even entertained the idea of multiples!)

I would strongly recommend Dr Murugappan to my friends who are in need. Dr Murugappan' warm welcome and compassionate demeanor made us feel reassured and confident. Her professional guidance throughout the IVF process, addressing our concerns and ensuring our understanding, was invaluable. Her dedication in exploring various options and finding the best solution for our specific needs stood out. And her personalized approach eased our anxieties and empowered us. We feel blessed to have had such a dedicated and compassionate doctor by our side.

We did two egg retrieval cycles to produce enough embryos to achieve our two children family building goal, and the first embryo transfer went pretty well that results in a success pregnancy.

Once or twice it felt as though maybe she was rushed but it was understandable as it was just a monitoring visit and I did not have any questions. However, I felt like she truly understood the physical and mental toll the treatments and overall situation had on me.

My advice would not be about her specifically because she was great, but I would let the prospective patient know to ask about medication that could potentially increase the number of eggs for a retrieval. I only learned about this right before our last round of retrieval following Dr. Vaughn getting input from other doctors at my case review. If I would have known this "everything and the kitchen sink" medication was available, we would have done it the first or second time around.
