Attention to Detail

Attention to detail is on a 1 - 10 scale, and is scored based on the rate, and severity, of errors committed by the clinic according to the patients.

For example, a severe error might be failing to inform a patient of critical information, while a small error might be failing to call a patient with results.

CDC Success Rates

This is the most recent data from the CDC. The CDC cautions that it should not be used to compare doctors and clinics. This data represents the outcomes of IVF cycles when using a person's own eggs.

For more information please see our FAQs.

Where you see a “?” on the chart, a clinic has done fewer than 20 cycles in this category and age range, so the CDC says showing percentages from this small data set would be misleading and unreliable.

he [Dr. Groll] has never shied away from hard truths, and he always takes the time to ensure that we understand the treatment plan. He doesn't go into loads of detail unless you ask, however, so if you are the type of person who is uncomfortable asking questions of doctors, he will seem very brief and curt. He has always been open to discussing alternative treatments and every fringe theory I've found on the internet, compassionately, and without making me feel desperate or crazy...

It's like they forget about me when I leave, we've discussed particulars of our case multiple times because they don't remember it from visit to visit...
How was your experience with Jeremy Groll at SpringCreek Fertility?
Dr. Groll is adorably awkward. We've joked about his love of all things 'geek' (Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, Witcher, etc) and that awkwardness can come across in our interactions sometimes. However, he has never shied away from hard truths, and he always takes the time to ensure that we understand the treatment plan. He doesn't go into loads of detail unless you ask, however, so if you are the type of person who is uncomfortable asking questions of doctors, he will seem very brief and curt. He has always been open to discussing alternative treatments and every fringe theory I've found on the internet, compassionately, and without making me feel desperate or crazy.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Jeremy Groll at SpringCreek Fertility?
Speak up! He's going to assume you understand everything unless you speak up. He knows that people who end up in his office have typically already done a ton of research, so he operates on the assumption that everyone has a baseline of knowledge of terms and procedures.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Jeremy Groll at SpringCreek Fertility?

Describe the protocols Jeremy Groll used in your cycles at SpringCreek Fertility and their degree of success.
Our IUI was simply a matter of convenience, my husband had a great sperm count on his last SA and we had our consult right before my cycle started. I was only on Clomid for that cycle. My egg retrieval was with estrace, Menopur, Ganirelix, Follistim, and a trigger of Ovidrel. My treatment was fairly standard, with twice daily oral estrace, once daily injections of Menopur and Follistim for 10 days, 4 days of Ganirelix, then a single dose of Ovidrel the day before retrieval. I do not have any diagnosis that would imply an issue with egg quality or quantity, so I believe this is the clinics standard protocol. I had to stim for 2 days longer than we planned, but we were able to get 5 more follicles to size by waiting those 2 days. We retrieved 20 eggs, and ended up with 5 usable embryos. Dr. Groll was happy with that number, as he that was the number he had projected at the beginning. All three of our transfers have had the exact same protocol, which is the clinic template. Estrace orally three times a day, acyclovir and letrozole for 5 days starting the day after baseline. 5 days before transfer, I started vaginal prometrium (twice daily), Prednisone (twice daily), Z-Pack, and Progesterone in Oil. Our first transfer ended in a miscarriage at 10 weeks, and the other two were failed. Dr. Groll wanted to do ab ERA after our second FET (first failure), but we decided to wait. We are starting on the process of an ERA now!
Describe your experience with the nursing staff at SpringCreek Fertility.
They rotate a lot, there's only been 1 nurse who has stayed the whole 5 years we've been with the clinic. But they are all bubbly, compassionate, and knowledgeable. They also aren't afraid to say "You know, I'm not 100% sure, let me check and I'll call you right back", which I really appreciate.
Describe your experience with SpringCreek Fertility.
Strengths - communication, knowledgeable, hands-on treatment by Dr. Groll, flexible Weaknesses - lots of turnover in staff, large clientele *Don't be afraid to ask questions, ask for explanations if necessary, advocate for yourself!!
Describe the costs associated with your care under Jeremy Groll at SpringCreek Fertility.
**We were cash pay, so that does affect these totals** Egg Retrieval (including ICSI and PGS) - $14,759 Frozen Embryo Transfer - $3750 Transfer medication - $750
Describe Jeremy Groll's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at SpringCreek Fertility.
Dr. Groll is very opinionated on eSET. When we asked about the possibility of transferring more than one embryo, he said, point blank, no. He said, "My goal is to ensure a healthy pregnancy and healthy mama. There is no evidence to support the risks of a multiple pregnancy over the success ratio of transferring multiple embryos." When my husband asked for clarification, he said "There is no reliable evidence that a transfer with multiple embryos that successfully results in a single birth wouldn't have been successful if only 1 embryo was transferred. However the risks of pregnancy with multiples is well documented. It's not worth the risk to your wife's health to potentially have a multiple pregnancy."
What specific things went wrong at SpringCreek Fertility?
  • Failed to call in prescriptions to pharmacy
Describe the specific things that went wrong at SpringCreek Fertility.
My medication wasn't called into the local pharmacy, which led to me running around for simple meds at the last minute.

Dr. Groll called me for the initial consultation to discuss my plan and chances of a live birth. He is a numbers person which I love. He discussed the pluses to PGT and whether he thought it was worth it for us...Talked my husband through how to take care of me...He called at day 3 with results and again at day 5. We ended up with one embryo at day 5 and when I asked why he was very straightforward
The [SpringCreek Fertility] nurses would call back asap. They were very empathetic. Some have gone through treatment themselves...Only weakness would be they communicate everything over the phone instead of following up with an email. Therefore I had to write everything down from my initial consult to dosages during retrieval. That is my only negative. Everything else was a positive experience! They are quick to respond with financial questions or anything treatment related.

What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Jeremy Groll at SpringCreek Fertility?
Ask as many questions as you want! And don’t hesitate to call. There is no such thing as a stupid question.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Jeremy Groll at SpringCreek Fertility?
The nurses would call back asap. They were very empathetic. Some have gone through treatment themselves! When I broke down in the middle of my 2 week wait they were very comforting and understanding.
Describe the protocols Jeremy Groll used in your cycles at SpringCreek Fertility and their degree of success.
I was on estrace, menopure, gonal-f, with luprolide trigger.
Describe your experience with your nurse at SpringCreek Fertility. (Assigned nurse: Lisa)
The nursing staff was very knowledgeable and responsive. Excellent communication! They were also very compassionate when I would get emotional in the office. And knew what to say to calm me down and get back in a positive mind set.

It was a well oiled machine. I waited in my car until they would call me in. They were always running on time. Once in it was a quick ordeal.
Describe the costs associated with your care under Jeremy Groll at SpringCreek Fertility.
Transfer was around $4000. If I remember right, IVF procedure was $13850
Describe Jeremy Groll's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at SpringCreek Fertility.
Groll would not do a multiple embryo transfer. He also believes frozen is more successful than fresh transfers.

Success w/ Doc Too early to know
I only personally met with Dr Groll for the egg retrieval and frozen embryo transfer and both interactions went well. He was kind and informative...Dr Groll always looked over my chart from those appointments and the nurses would call after his review to discuss next steps...if you want to meet with Dr Groll, make sure you ask for it because otherwise you will meet with one of the other providers. The other providers seemed to do a great job and helps keep things moving since Dr Groll is only one person within a clinic that has 2 (now 3) total locations.
They [nurses at SpringCreek Fertility] are responsive and kind...I can call and leave a voicemail and they'll return it in 24 hours or I can message them through the portal and they will follow-up with a phone call. They never seem annoyed with questions and the staffing team seems large so there is always someone to talk to. There is an on-call nurse in the after hours which is also really helpful...
How was your experience with Jeremy Groll at SpringCreek Fertility?
I only personally met with Dr Groll for the egg retrieval and frozen embryo transfer and both interactions went well. He was kind and informative. I had monitoring appointments at their satellite office in Dublin and I always felt like I had good care there, plus I loved not having to drive as far. Dr Groll always looked over my chart from those appointments and the nurses would call after his review to discuss next steps.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Jeremy Groll at SpringCreek Fertility?
Ask all of the questions that you want and if you want to meet with Dr Groll, make sure you ask for it because otherwise you will meet with one of the other providers. The other providers seemed to do a great job and helps keep things moving since Dr Groll is only one person within a clinic that has 2 (now 3) total locations.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Jeremy Groll at SpringCreek Fertility?
Dr. Groll was the second doctor I met with so going into it I already had most of my tests completed and knew the path we were going to take. I did not meet personally with Dr. Groll and I was ok with that since I already had a lot of knowledge about what we were going to do. If he was the first doctor I was going to, I would have wanted to schedule an appointment directly with him. The staff I did talk to in the beginning was all very friendly, helpful, and helped keep things moving which I greatly appreciated.
Describe your experience with your nurse at SpringCreek Fertility. (Assigned nurse: Lisa)
I've had a completely different experience with this clinic than I did with my first. They are responsive and kind, two of things I highly value. I can call and leave a voicemail and they'll return it in 24 hours or I can message them through the portal and they will follow-up with a phone call. They never seem annoyed with questions and the staffing team seems large so there is always someone to talk to. There is an on-call nurse in the after hours which is also really helpful.
Describe your experience with SpringCreek Fertility.
This clinic has a great staff who is caring and seems well staffed. Each person has a role and knows how to help. The offices are nice and it helps having a satellite office in Dublin so that I don't have to drive as far for every single appointment/blood test. They ask for money upfront to schedule the first appointment and then again to get on the schedule for IVF, but that money goes into your account to be used for upcoming appointments. It was hard to understand at first, but now I see that money gets used instead of having a lot of one-off bills after each appointment.
Describe the costs associated with your care under Jeremy Groll at SpringCreek Fertility.
There was an initial fee to schedule the appointment and then another charge to reserve my spot on the IVF calendar. Both of these charges went into my account as credits and then as bills come due they pull from these amounts before requesting additional money from me. It's a different way of doing it, but I like it so that I don't have to worry about individual bills every few days/weeks.
Describe Jeremy Groll's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at SpringCreek Fertility.
Single embryo transfer is strongly encouraged

We are happy so far with our consultation and experience with Dr. Groll. He seems very knowledgable about what he is talking about. I would say a strength of his is being up front about treatments and options and elaborating on every detail we need to know. A weakness of his is not taking time to get to know the patients...he got straight to the point as to how different types of fertility treatment could relate to us and did not sugar coat things.
The [SpringCreek Fertility] clinic overall is very welcoming. You feel comfortable immediately when walking in. A weakness would be there are not always as many appointment times available as we have found at another clinic...The nursing staff was great and very quick to follow up with us whenever they needed to. They seemed very concerned about our specific case and were always kind and responsive
How was your experience with Jeremy Groll at SpringCreek Fertility?
We have not undergone any fertility treatment yet due to COVID-19 but have been under the care of different fertility clinics since November 2019. We are happy so far with our consultation and experience with Dr. Groll. He seems very knowledgable about what he is talking about. I would say a strength of his is being up front about treatments and options and elaborating on every detail we need to know. A weakness of his is not taking time to get to know the patients. When we saw him, after meeting with him I felt confident in his ability to treat us but I wish he would have spent a couple of minutes to get to know us.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Jeremy Groll at SpringCreek Fertility?
Do some homework upfront before your first consultation. He throws a lot of information at you, which is all great, but I wish I would have came with questions.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Jeremy Groll at SpringCreek Fertility?
Doctor Groll seemed to really focus on the "science" behind the fertility treatment. He explained all the details and gave us all the information we needed to know but at the same time, he acknowledged the fact that we have been trying to get pregnant for a long time and he wanted to make that happen for us a quickly as possible. I appreciated he got straight to the point as to how different types of fertility treatment could relate to us and did not sugar coat things.
Describe the protocols Jeremy Groll used in your cycles at SpringCreek Fertility and their degree of success.
We have not started any treatments yet. We were seeing another fertility doctor for about 3 months and went through tons of testing. Now, Dr. Groll wants to do a few more testing before we can move forward with either IUI or IVF.
Describe your experience with the nursing staff at SpringCreek Fertility.
The nursing staff was great and very quick to follow up with us whenever they needed to. They seemed very concerned about our specific case and were always kind and responsive.

The clinic overall is very welcoming. You feel comfortable immediately when walking in. A weakness would be there are not always as many appointment times available as we have found at another clinic.
Describe the costs associated with your care under Jeremy Groll at SpringCreek Fertility.
Our initial consultation was around $330. A semen analysis was around $150. I have not undergone treatment yet due to COVID-19 but it looks like IUI will be around $1,500 while IVF will be $15,000.

He [Dr. Jeremy Groll] is very good at explaining his reasoning and thought processes, but it can be over your head sometimes. Let him do the extra testing. This is how we found our issues!...Dr. Groll said their office only does single embryo transfer for the safety of the mother and baby...After all of our testing he believes we will have an 80% chance of conceiving with our next round of IVF. I've never even been given a percentage for our conception possibility. We found some answers that could be causing our recurrently implantation failure, and I feel extremely confident that our next round will give us positive results, when we've had nothing but negative outcomes and zero answers over the past 5 1/2 years of trying to conceive. I wish I would have left the prior clinic way before now and not thrown away over $50,000 for no answers or options. They always just wanted us to try again and not do anything differently. I feel at Spring Creek they have thoroughly come up with a plan and answers for our struggles! Everything was explained to us IN DEPTH and that made it so much clearer what our problems have most likely been in the past. I'm so happy to finally feel like we are movi
A complete IVF package at Springcreek costs $13,850. This includes ultrasounds, blood draws, anesthesia, retrieval, ICSI and fertilization, assisted hatching, embryo culture, embryo cyropreservation, 1 frozen embryo transfer, and one pregnancy test. They also gave us the opportunity to save up to 15% on our IVF cycle with 3 different discounts we were eligible for. Medications are separate. PGS/PGD is separate...everyone was very caring and compassionate. They all have their responsibilities down and seem to do very good at their separate jobs. We have been nothing but impressed by this office compared to our other 3 fertility offices we have been at in the past. So grateful we decided to make the switch and start
How was your experience with Jeremy Groll at SpringCreek Fertility?
We haven't yet started our next IVF cycle with Dr. Groll. We consulted with him, he was our 4th infertility specialist we have seen. We have done 3 rounds of IVF with our previous doctor, and never were given answers. No special testing was ever done, and when I would suggest something that it could be, I was always shot down. The very first consult visit with Dr. Groll he had everything laid out and he was ready to explain his reasoning for what he thought about our situation. He ran tests that we had never had the opportunity to even ask about prior to this. After all of our testing he believes we will have an 80% chance of conceiving with our next round of IVF. I've never even been given a percentage for our conception possibility. We found some answers that could be causing our recurrently implantation failure, and I feel extremely confident that our next round will give us positive results, when we've had nothing but negative outcomes and zero answers over the past 5 1/2 years of trying to conceive. Everything was explained to us IN DEPTH and that made it so much clearer what our problems have most likely been in the past. I'm so happy to finally feel like we are moving in the right direction and pray this next cycle will be our positive.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Jeremy Groll at SpringCreek Fertility?
Make sure he has your entire history, knows what you have tried. What supplements you have taken or medications you have been on in the past. And ask questions if you don't understand something. He is very good at explaining his reasoning and thought processes, but it can be over your head sometimes. Let him do the extra testing. This is how we found our issues!
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Jeremy Groll at SpringCreek Fertility?
Always called by name, plenty of time was taken to discuss options and treatment planning, from the receptionists, nurses, financial counselors, and the doctors.
Describe the protocols Jeremy Groll used in your cycles at SpringCreek Fertility and their degree of success.
We have not yet started our IVF cycle with Dr. Groll, but will hopefully be starting in the next few months.
Describe your experience with the nursing staff at SpringCreek Fertility.
I haven't had many encounters with the nurses, yet. The few times I have they were always very caring and professional. Seemed very willing to help and to answer any questions.
Describe your experience with SpringCreek Fertility.
From the beginning of making the appointment, checking in, consulting with Dr. Groll, Dr. Kohlmeier doing my saline sonogram, meeting with the nurses and financial advisors, phlebotomists, and working to get our results over a telemedicine visit, everyone was very caring and compassionate. They all have their responsibilities down and seem to do very good at their separate jobs. We have been nothing but impressed by this office compared to our other 3 fertility offices we have been at in the past. So grateful we decided to make the switch and start to get some answers about our struggle.

[Dr Groll] had a great bedside manner. I was dealing with symptoms of my premature ovarian failure and before the end of our visit he asked what was he able to do that day to help me...He also gave me so much valuable information regarding my POF that the first fertility doctor never mentioned (like what exercises and supplements I should be taking for bone health)
It is a very friendly atmosphere [at SpringCreek Fertility]. The office itself feels warm and inviting. The front staff are friendly and greet you when you walk in. They have a separate room to talk the financial aspect and speaking with financial was part of the initial evaluation. I really liked that. It allowed me and my husband to have all the information/options we needed both medically/financially at once.
How was your experience with Jeremy Groll at SpringCreek Fertility?
Dr Groll was my second fertility doctor, I originally went to him for a second opinion. He made me feel like an actual person instead of a number. He had a great bedside manner. I was dealing with symptoms of my premature ovarian failure and before the end of our visit he asked what was he able to do that day to help me. And honestly, that was the best thing to hear that day. He also gave me so much valuable information regarding my POF that the first fertility doctor never mentioned (like what exercises and supplements I should be taking for bone health)
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Jeremy Groll at SpringCreek Fertility?
Don't wait. If you feel something is wrong definitely get checked out.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Jeremy Groll at SpringCreek Fertility?
My first fertility doctor gave me my diagnosis of premature ovarian failure. I was rushed out of the room while I was sobbing. The office never called or checked on me. With Dr Groll, he asked me what could he do that day to help. Honestly, it was such a simple question but I will forever be grateful he asked because I was having side effects to my diagnosis and needed relief. We weren't quite ready to start IVF at the time but about a month later his office called to check in with us.

I was prescribed vaginal progesterone suppositories and intramuscular progesterone. There was a few other meds they had me take as well but I can't remember the names of them.
Describe your experience with the nursing staff at SpringCreek Fertility.
The nursing staff was great. My husband wasn't giving me the intramuscular progesterone in the right area so it was causing pain. I called the nurses and they told me to come in and they could circle on my body where he needed to give me the medicine. I didn't need to make an appointment just to come in.
Describe your experience with SpringCreek Fertility.
It is a very friendly atmosphere. The office itself feels warm and inviting. The front staff are friendly and greet you when you walk in. They have a separate room to talk the financial aspect and speaking with financial was part of the initial evaluation. I really liked that. It allowed me and my husband to have all the information/options we needed both medically/financially at once.
Describe Jeremy Groll's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at SpringCreek Fertility.
He only ever mentioned one embryo transfer. We never brought up three option of transferring two.
What specific things went wrong at SpringCreek Fertility?
  • Failed to inform you of changes in protocol
  • Lost or damaged samples
Describe the specific things that went wrong at SpringCreek Fertility.
While I'm not sure if it was our clinic or the egg bank who made the error, but we did have an issue with our donor eggs. We purchased 8 eggs from one donor through an egg bank. SpringCreek was the facility that did the donors retrieval and was currently housing the eggs on site. We thought that was a extra bonus since we wouldn't need to pay shipping fees. We were told there were 12 eggs remaining from this donor by the egg bank. We purchased the 8 eggs in June, and in December a month before our transfer, I received a call from our fertility clinic that there was a mistake. They didn't have 8 eggs from that donor they only had 2. Hearing this was extremely upsetting as anyone can imagine. I'm not sure whether it was springCreek or the egg banks error, but springCreek tried to make it right by finding me a second donor so we could continue with our transfer.

Describe the protocols Jeremy Groll used in your cycles at SpringCreek Fertility and their degree of success.
During my IVF treatment I was prescribed medication to help grow my egg count and was monitored via ultrasounds to ensure I was producing good eggs to retrieve. When going for retrieval I was put on a local anesthesia and woke up to the doctor letting me know he recovered over 40 eggs. After the 5 day process I had 4 quality eggs. I was the ready to transfer I started more medications which was oral and injectable. My first transfer resulted in a negative pregnancy test. We were given the option to do more testing opted not to since it was only our first try. I then started the process for transfer 2 with the same medications. I received an positive pregnancy which resulted in my 1 1/2 year old daughter.
Describe your experience with your nurse at SpringCreek Fertility. (Assigned nurse: Julie Cuy Castellanos)
Julie was very sweet and informative. She made sure I knew what the next steps were and that when she was conducting an ultrasound I knew what she was seeing. She was very caring when my IUI did not work out.
Describe your experience with SpringCreek Fertility.
The clinic is very clean and everyone is super friendly. I felt like everyone truly cared about our outcome and the reason for us being there. The only weakness they have is better communication with patients and other staff. I had a couple of times where I had a question and they had to get back to me at a later time because they would have to look into it with another staff member.

Total was around $25,000 for IVF and IUi
Describe Jeremy Groll's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at SpringCreek Fertility.

IUI [with Dr. Groll] rounds 1-3 were femara, trigger shot, IUI, booster trigger shot for progesterone issues. IUI round 4 was the same with prednisone added after ovulation to support implantation. IVF has been recommended if round 4 is unsuccessful...was very thorough in his explanation. Sometimes it seemed a little too scientific and not necessarily related to us or our situation, but he has been very through the few times we have spoken with him.
I was told [by staff at Spring Creek Fertility] the results for one test were “normal” but later found out they were not and was given medication. This was not a huge mistake, but left me under a different impression that I should have been...Each IUI is $1100 without the cost of medication (an additional $250)...I like how organized the clinic is. You leave every appointment with a sheet with all of your measurements, data, etc. and a list of what to do next. I rarely have follow up questions because they are so thorough in the visit. I have very little critique of the office.

Go in with questions. They are super helpful and want to help, but having questions upfront would help.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Jeremy Groll at SpringCreek Fertility?
Dr Groll and his staff have made us feel like we matter. We do not feel rushed, they answer questions, and they listed to and address our concerns. No matter how many (seemingly) ridiculous questions I call with they always get back to me quickly and reassure me.

He is very thorough and explains things in detail all while reassuring you this is just a delay to pregnancy. His initial consult was very all inclusive. He leads you through each step of treatment without leaving you feeling overwhelmed.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Jeremy Groll at SpringCreek Fertility?
The hardest part was setting up the intial consult. Once you get started with a treatment plan the staff quickly becomes like family.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Jeremy Groll at SpringCreek Fertility?
They know me by name and are always checking in not just medically but seeing how I’m feeling throughout treatments and checking in emotionally.
Describe the protocols Jeremy Groll used in your cycles at SpringCreek Fertility and their degree of success.
We started with 3 rounds of IUI after initial bloodwork screening for both my husband and I. After 3 failed rounds it was decided that IVF may be a quicker route to pregnancy. Additional tests were run and we started stims for egg retrieval. They adjusted my gonal f doses during monitoring to optimize follicle growth. We had 17 follicles retrieved, 5 fertilized, and 3 at blastocyst stage to freeze. After a month of birth control to prepare my body, followed by a course of letrazole and z-pack, a single embryo was transferred and I was started on progesterone, prednisone, ibruprofen, and estradiol. Still waiting on results. Throughout treatment I have taken coq10, prenatals, iron, and methyl folate.
Describe your experience with the nursing staff at SpringCreek Fertility.
We usually see a different nurse every time. But the nursing staff is very professional, knowledgeable, and compassionate. Several of the team members always have a good energy about them and a smile on their face.

Describe the costs associated with your care under Jeremy Groll at SpringCreek Fertility.
Initial consult about $200 Saline sonogram $750 IUI bundle- 3 cycles about $3500 IVF cycle- about $12000-15000
Describe Jeremy Groll's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at SpringCreek Fertility.
They recommend single embryo transfers due to increased pregnancy risks with multiples. They will, however, consider a maximum of 2 if a couple really is interested. They will not transfer more than 2.
What specific things went wrong at SpringCreek Fertility?
  • Failed to call in prescriptions to pharmacy
Describe the specific things that went wrong at SpringCreek Fertility.
They have called in medications to both a local pharmacy and a third party pharmacy. Luckily I caught it before I ordered doubled medications. Another time I had to remind them to call in a medication for me. The third party pharmacy has helped save money but the incorrect amounts of medications being called in led to a lot of confusion and follow up phone calls.

He [Dr. Groll] was very thorough in recommendations and took our concerns into consideration. When we had to cancel a cycle because of too many follicles during IUI, he explained the risks and when I didn't tolerate meds well, adjusted course. He also took time during appointments and had a great bedside manner. We are still undergoing treatment, but he offered a new protocol that other doctors did not and would no consider. He seemed more current on protocols, supplements, and testing as well. Overall, we have been very pleased with Dr. Groll and all of the staff at Spring Creek.
Two locations [SpringCreek Fertility] with a new office in Columbus made it a great option for those of us feeling limited by two local clinics. The consults there were great, but Columbus doesn't have full coverage to allow for scans leading up to IUI or IVF. The distance wasn't bad and the staff did their best to accommodate as much as possible in the Columbus office - consults, bloodwork, baselines, Skype sessions for IVF planning, paperwork signing, etc.

The distance from Columbus is worth it.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Jeremy Groll at SpringCreek Fertility?
The entire office in comparison to others used in Columbus was a breath of fresh air. The efforts of all staff to connect with us was great. Calls and emails were promptly returned. The doctor answered all of our questions and spent more time than our appointment allowed. Staff were jovial and it is a great environment with a more aggressive protocol.
Describe the protocols Jeremy Groll used in your cycles at SpringCreek Fertility and their degree of success.
After failed IUI and IVF at other clinics, Dr. Groll suggested a test for DNA fragmentation which may have led to multiple miscarriages. This protocol/test was never previously introduced or discussed by other doctors. It gave us hope to keep trying and we were pretty upset that we should have had this information prior to spending 20K on previous treatments.
Describe your experience with your nurse at SpringCreek Fertility. (Assigned nurse: Lisa)
Best nursing staff all around! We've worked with RGI and ORM and the Spring Creek staff blow both of those offices out of the water with their timeliness, compassion, and overall demeanor.

Costs were comparable if not a bit less than the other Columbus clinics for IVF. The cost of transfer and IUI was a bit more.

Dr. Groll is exceptional at getting to know his patients and how to best connect with them. ... I have been a patient of Dr. Groll's for 6 years now, have had 2 children, and am trying for a third. In this process, I have had multiple treatments .... Most recently, due to a diminished ovarian reserve, I did an egg retrieval, created embryos, and froze them.
Strengths - the clinic [SpringCreek] is not connected to any hospital, so there are no overhead rules being dictated. This allows for treatment to be personalized and for you to get the treatment you need. The clinic is very caring and every single employee cares about you and your journey. Every single person will work for you and to make sure they make your journey as easy as possible.
How was your experience with Jeremy Groll at SpringCreek Fertility?
Dr. Groll is exceptional at getting to know his patients and how to best connect with them. My husband has a very dry sense of humor, but he is also an engineer and likes to know every detail. I make a joke out of pretty much everything and like to know every potential outcome. Dr. Groll was able to fully connect with both of us, give us information that was relatable and understandable, and give us a plan that worked for us. When my body had to change some treatment plans, Dr. Groll came to us with compassion and ideas.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Jeremy Groll at SpringCreek Fertility?
Start here and start soon! Chances are, if you are already researching doctors, you are ready to take the next step in this process. I fully trust Dr. Groll and would recommend any potential patients to come and meet with him to get his suggestions.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Jeremy Groll at SpringCreek Fertility?
Dr. Groll is always willing to listen to my concerns and to provide personalized care. I always feel like I am his top priority when I see him.
Describe the protocols Jeremy Groll used in your cycles at SpringCreek Fertility and their degree of success.
I have been a patient of Dr. Groll's for 6 years now, have had 2 children, and am trying for a third. In this process, I have had multiple treatments and it is difficult to remember all of them. Most recently, due to a diminished ovarian reserve, I did an egg retrieval, created embryos, and froze them. I took extra medication due to my age and AMH and we did ICSI due to level of damage done by my endometriosis. I created two beautiful embryos and transferred one that unfortunately resulted in a chemical pregnancy. I will be doing a frozen embryo transfer for the remaining embryo in 8 weeks after undergoing suppression treatment to keep the endometriosis at bay.
Describe your experience with the nursing staff at SpringCreek Fertility.
The nurses treat you like family. Everyone truly takes the journey with you and celebrates when you celebrate.

Describe the costs associated with your care under Jeremy Groll at SpringCreek Fertility.
I had insurance coverage for most of my treatments, so I paid whatever insurance charged me. Unfortunately I have now reached my out of pocket benefit maximum and will have to pay cash pay. I am unsure what this will run.
Describe Jeremy Groll's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at SpringCreek Fertility.
Dr. Groll recommended one embryo be transferred due to my past history and the status of the embryos. He fully informed me of my options and the pros and cons of each.

Dr. Groll started his initial consultation with blood work. From there we will able to test for heavy metals and also look at my hormones. We also scheduled a saline sonogram to check the patency of my Fallopian tubes. Dr. Groll is all about being proactive, and I appreciate that! I am glad he doesn't make someone go through several cycles and then decide to do some testing.
Springcreek is run like a well-oiled machine. ... Everyone from the receptionists to the lab technicians are kind and understanding. ... The only weakness I can think of is all the training going on with new staff but that is because the clinic is growing so quickly. The staff is very patient as far as figuring out scheduling and finances. We knew upfront how each cycle was going to go and how much it was going to cost.
How was your experience with Jeremy Groll at SpringCreek Fertility?
Dr. Groll was personable yet very knowledgeable from the very beginning. Coming from a medical background myself, I knew exactly what I was looking for in a fertility doc. Dr. Groll not only has awesome bedside manner, I was able to research all of his publications and findings throughout his career. He has tons of experience and the evidence to prove it. He is kind but also realistic. You have to be realistic yet compassionate when dealing with a bunch of hormonal women!
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Jeremy Groll at SpringCreek Fertility?
Ask any question, big or small, because he will answer it with the truth.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Jeremy Groll at SpringCreek Fertility?

Although doctor Groll oversees all of my treatment, I often see the NP's in the office...Dr. Groll is very educated and takes his knowledge seriously. He does quite a bit of research on his own as well as staying current on findings within the field. He cares about a patient's overall health and not just fertility. He advocates for healthy choices and reducing environmental wear on our bodies and the research to support the reasons. He is upfront and honest about the procedures and the successes.
The clinic [SpringCreek Fertility] is warm, inviting and friendly. The staff all love their jobs and are all very knowledgeable about the processes of the office. No matter what, my questions have always been answered or sent directly to the person who could answer questions. They are extremely flexible with their schedule and make sure you have everything you need. The office is clean and the atmosphere in the waiting room is family friendly...

Due to having increased insulin levels, I take 2000 mg of Metformin daily. Julie was excellent with explaining everything. When cycles didn't go as planned, she kept close watch and was there to answer any question and explain everything in an easy to understand way.
Describe your experience with SpringCreek Fertility.
The clinic is warm, inviting and friendly. The staff all love their jobs and are all very knowledgeable about the processes of the office. No matter what, my questions have always been answered or sent directly to the person who could answer questions. They are extremely flexible with their schedule and make sure you have everything you need. The office is clean and the atmosphere in the waiting room is family friendly.
Describe the costs associated with your care under Jeremy Groll at SpringCreek Fertility.
I have no fertility coverage with my insurance. I have paid $1100 for IUI plus other fees, medications and visits. For each additional cycle I will do the same. For IVF, I have been quoted with a total of $20,000 and will begin the process soon.

Dr. Groll is a no nonsense doctor that is very good at explaining every step, and all of the different paths that the treatment may take you. He is calm and patient, and willing to answer all of your questions...His answers are always nuanced, but that is also part of the difficulty with IVF. It is not absolutely clear what will happen. He helps you understand that...starts with a drug regimen that begins with Human Growth Hormone, and then continues with the addition of Goandotropins and Menopur. He measures estrogen levels about 3 times a week, and starts with 2 ultrasounds a week to monitor follicle growth. As the process nears the end, he increases the number of ultrasounds, and may modify drug dosage.
Lisa [nurse at SpringCreek Fertility] is a very detailed and organized. She can take care of the entire patient, from the medical as well as emotional side. She is very positive, upbeat, and reassuring during a very difficult time...the first IVF treatment is a little over $13,000. The second time is a little under $12,000. Drugs for each cycle cost about $9500...The staff is very helpful, informative, and very comforting. Everyone has been very helpful. They are upfront with costs, and never hide anything from you. The environment is very relaxing, with a G rated movie always playing in the lobby. I cannot think of any real weakness at this moment in time.

How was your experience with Jeremy Groll at SpringCreek Fertility?
Dr Grolls weakness would be that he sometimes explains things in medical terms that went over my head! But his strengths are that he would always have a different way to explain things more clearly If you spoke up and asked or said you did not understand. I love that he is always prepared and you know he’s looked into your chart and information prior to appointments. It made it feel like he truly cares and thinks through options and possible outcomes before meeting with his clients.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Jeremy Groll at SpringCreek Fertility?
Have your questions written out and ready! He’ll take the time to answer them if you’re prepared. The first time I met with him the information was so extensive I forgot all of my questions at the end of our appointment. Also have a list of all your medications and supplements ready! I learned that some can be harmful depending on your unique situation and history.

Describe the protocols Jeremy Groll used in your cycles at SpringCreek Fertility and their degree of success.
Dr Groll and the NP in his office performed 3 hours of IUI with us. They used Femara for follicle stimulating then Orvadril (unsure of spelling) injections to help with ovulation. Each cycle included multiple blood tests and ultrasounds to closely monitor my ovarian function as they noted a mild case of PCOS. They were open and honest with each appointment and helped guide me on things to note at home and checked in with me frequently over the phone to ensure everything was going as planned. Although we did not conceive through these attempts the experience I had in the office and with Dr Groll was really a great one. He gave us tips and guidance for trying to conceive at home when our financial status caused us to wait before trying more treatment options.

The clinics strengths are communication and their scheduling system. They are very flexible with you and try their best every time to accommodate times that work for you. They’ve been more busy this year so some dates were out further than I wanted but they call if anything opens sooner. Even if you have a scheduled appointment you may end of waiting, but that is no different than other doctors offices.

Dr. Karnitis was the first RE I saw. I had been married a short time, 2 months, however, I have already had my left tube and ovary removed and stage 4 endo. He said my case was going to be on the fast track due to health reasons....To help with my eggs and having the most when we were ready I went on Lupron (which I wouldn't recommend but it saved my eggs so I can't complain too much) and 3 months later we were prepping for our 1st IUI. He told me everything I'd need to do and how this process worked.
The nursing staff [SpringCreek] is amazing at Springcreek. They talk with you and ask you questions about where you are in your journey. They also ask you for any thoughts or feelings before they get started. The last few times I've gone in the nursing staff has hugged me and consoled me when I found out I didn't have many eggs left. They are so wonderful and i can't wait to continue to work with them further... I was shocked to know all ultrasounds are $200+, but also relieved when I found out the money goes towards IVF so we really aren't losing anything,
How was your experience with Joseph Karnitis at SpringCreek Fertility?
Dr. Karnitis was the first RE I saw. I had been married a short time, 2 months, however, I have already had my left tube and ovary removed and stage 4 endo. He said my case was going to be on the fast track due to health reasons. We tried to conceive on our own for 6 months but no results. To help with my eggs and having the most when we were ready I went on Lupron (which I wouldn't recommend but it saved my eggs so I can't complain too much) and 3 months later we were prepping for our 1st IUI. He told me everything I'd need to do and how this process worked. He said I wouldn't feel much but I would know when things were going on. I am really sensitive and Dr. Karnitis is very gentle to make sure I'm not tense during ultrasounds or procedures. After the TWW during this time I was going insane. I genuinely thought I was pregnant and I was so excited. I had symptoms and really got my hopes up, only to be let down. I went back to Dr. K and he said he had a new plan. This was great with me! We did another IUI only this time we didn't do the shot at home we did it at the office with a nurse. I went home and we went back the next morning for round 2. TWW and nothing, just one line and lots of heartbreak. Once we went in again he told me that we'd be wasting money continuing to do IUI's. We stopped treatment in hopes of gathering our thoughts together and having more conversations with Dr. Karnitis. Every time we see him he asks how we're doing and what my thoughts are. We are planning on IVF hopefully by the end of the year.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Joseph Karnitis at SpringCreek Fertility?
Be ready to have an initial consult last 2 hours or longer. Dr. Karnitis goes over every detail and answers any and all questions you and your spouse may have.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Joseph Karnitis at SpringCreek Fertility?
Dr. Karnitis is the one person I trust with my fertility care. I have been with him since hew as at Kettering. Late 2018 I found out he was leaving the practice because it was bough out by UC West Chester. I was not happy because Dr. Karnitis talks to you like you were his own child. He is generally pretty lenient when it comes to patient care and what the couple would like to do. He has never made me feel like I was wasting my time or money on treatment. At times its been hard to see the light at the end of the tunnel but he's always reassured me that he won't give up on me. He will be there with me throughout this process and he is very positive that he can help us conceive and carry a child to term! He has never swayed from his positive attitude and I appreciate that a lot!
Describe the protocols Joseph Karnitis used in your cycles at SpringCreek Fertility and their degree of success.
My first protocol was to get an ultrasound to see how things were looking. Next we did clomid 2x with IUI and trying on our own. Break Next Lupron for three months Off to reassess our options and goals Follow Dr. K to Springcreek Ultrasound IVF packet and payment info

Describe your experience with SpringCreek Fertility.
I love that this clinic has been in our area for 20+ years and their successes and pregnancies are show in their work. I think its important for a couple to know that the staff and the clinic are successful. Given that it's a private clinic be prepared for ultrasounds that are not covered under insurance. I was shocked to know all ultrasounds are $200+, but also relieved when I found out the money goes towards IVF so we really aren't losing anything, just slowing adding money onto our account that goes towards our end goal of having a baby. I love that you can contact them via email to ask questions and a nurse will follow up with you within 24 hours. I think communication between the nurses and the doctors with the patients is another key factor when going through fertility treatment. I think it gets overlooked when communication is good because we tend to focus on the negatives.
Describe the costs associated with your care under Joseph Karnitis at SpringCreek Fertility.
So far we've spent a total of $5,000. Our IVF bill is anywhere from $15,000-$25,000 for one round. No guarantees. No refunds.

Dr. Groll is highly knowledgeable and very cerebral and I sometimes felt he spoke a little over my head when he explained things even though I considered myself a well-informed patient. That said, he was a good listener and always took the time to answer my questions. I genuinely felt he had my best interest at heart...in our particular case, my husband and I wanted to transfer both of our embryos and Dr. Groll supported our decision.
[SpringCreek Fertility] is very clean and beautiful with state-of-the-art technology and equipment. The front desk staff is excellent...Scheduling was always very flexible. They have a separate entrance for their andrology lab to make things less awkward for the men...nursing staff was warm, sincere, and compassionate. They always took the time to give hugs and dry tears. I felt that they celebrated our successes and mourned our failures right along with us.
How was your experience with Jeremy Groll at SpringCreek Fertility?
Dr. Groll is highly knowledgeable and very cerebral and I sometimes felt he spoke a little over my head when he explained things even though I considered myself a well-informed patient. That said, he was a good listener and always took the time to answer my questions. I genuinely felt he had my best interest at heart and would do everything possible to help me achieve my dream of a family. He was always kind. The day we “graduated” from his clinic and returned to my regular OBGYN, he had tears in his eyes. I took that as a sure sign of how much he cared.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Jeremy Groll at SpringCreek Fertility?
Be well-informed and be prepared to stop him and ask questions when he’s explaining something you don’t understand.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Jeremy Groll at SpringCreek Fertility?
At first, I did feel like a number, but the more I got to know Dr. Groll and his staff, the better things got. By the time we finally got our positive pregnancy test and “graduated” to our regular OBGYN, Dr. Groll and the staff were hugging us and crying happy tears with us. We recently returned to SpringCreek for their annual baby reunion and everyone remembered us!
Describe the protocols Jeremy Groll used in your cycles at SpringCreek Fertility and their degree of success.
Due to the presence of a large endometrioma on my left ovary, we began treatment with IUI. After two failed rounds, my endometrioma was responding negatively to the associated medications and Dr. Groll advised that we proceed to IVF. We did one round of IVF during which 12 eggs were retrieved, but only 2 were successfully fertilized (via ICSI). Most of my eggs showed significant damage due to endometriosis. Dr. Groll recommended we freeze both embryos on day 3, and after that I went on hormone suppression medication for two months to help calm my uterine environment. With Dr. Groll’s support, we opted to transfer both embryos to give us our best odds of conception, and one stuck, bringing us our healthy baby girl! Prior to my frozen embryo transfer, Dr. Groll also recommended I receive acupuncture, which I did. After conception, I followed an ibuprofen regimen for the first few weeks of my pregnancy to continue to encourage a calm uterine environment.
Describe your experience with the nursing staff at SpringCreek Fertility.
The nursing staff was warm, sincere, and compassionate. They always took the time to give hugs and dry tears. I felt that they celebrated our successes and mourned our failures right along with us.
Describe your experience with SpringCreek Fertility.
The clinic is very clean and beautiful with state-of-the-art technology and equipment. The front desk staff is excellent. They always have water and snacks available. Scheduling was always very flexible. They have a separate entrance for their andrology lab to make things less awkward for the men. This isn’t really a weakness, but the only thing I negatively recall is that the front desk staff always seemed very cheery and there were a lot of days I sat in the waiting room feeling absolutely miserable and it was hard to be in the presence of others who seemed so happy. Again, that’s not really a weakness, it was just something that was sometimes personally difficult for me to deal with.
Describe the costs associated with your care under Jeremy Groll at SpringCreek Fertility.
I don’t recall specific costs, but I know we spent roughly $30,000 including all testing/monitoring, procedures, and medications.
Describe Jeremy Groll's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at SpringCreek Fertility.
I believe Dr. Groll’s usual approach is to transfer single embryos, but in our particular case, my husband and I wanted to transfer both of our embryos and Dr. Groll supported our decision.

My only criticism [of Dr. Groll] would be that sometimes when he is explaining things, he talks over our heads. For example, using medical jargon and terminology a lay person would not understand...If I do not understand something, he is always very willing to explain things until they make sense...After the failed first attempt, we did additional testing of my immune system. It was found like I have a high number of Natural Killer Cells. To overcome this, Dr. Groll put me on acyclovir and steroids to surpass my immune system in order for the embryo to implant. We then did a subsequent embryo transfer with the second and last embryo. The second transfer did not result in a pregnancy. We have had follow up appointments in which we have decided to do additional sprem and immune system testing to adjust treatment as necessary for the next round of IVF.
[SpringCreek Fertility is a] Nice clean office...Personalized care. You speak to the nurses and Dr. Groll multiple multiple times throughout your course of treatment and they make adjustments as you go. The staff does everything they can to help you save money on meds and explain all the payments clearly and upfront. Weaknesses: because of the personalized care, if you did not live close to the clinic all the appointments would be more challenging. I lived 10 minutes from the office, so this was not a concern for me personally. But if you lived out of town, treatment would be very difficult.
How was your experience with Jeremy Groll at SpringCreek Fertility?
Dr. Groll is extremely intelligent. My only criticism would be that sometimes when he is explaining things, he talks over our heads. For example, using medical jargon and terminology a lay person would not understand. I do not fault him for that as I trust him and know that he is an expert in his field. If I do not understand something, he is always very willing to explain things until they make sense.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Jeremy Groll at SpringCreek Fertility?
If you work full time, be sure to prepare your co-workers for your frequent doctors appointments. During the egg retrieval process, the patient is in the office every other day for 10 days. I saw this as a benefit as they were closely monitoring my treatment and progress.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Jeremy Groll at SpringCreek Fertility?
Dr. Jeremy Groll and his entire staff are very compassionate, friendly and understanding. The whole office makes me feel like they are genuinely invested in the outcome of our treatment. Dr. Groll has taken his personal time on the weekends to call me and explain things and check on how I was doing. The staff is very professional and honest and I feel display the upmost integrity and pride in their jobs. I would recommend the clinic to anyone. We were not successful with our first IVF treatment but will be using Dr. Jeremy Groll and Spring Creek Fertility Clinic when we do our next cycle.
Describe the protocols Jeremy Groll used in your cycles at SpringCreek Fertility and their degree of success.
We underwent initial testing to check my hormone levels and my husbands sperm quality etc. My levels were low and he had some damage in his sprem so it was determined that IVF would be the best option for us. We did a saline sonogram and discovered a polyp on my uterus. Dr. Groll did surgery to remove that before we started any hormone treatments. We then did a round of stim meds in preparation for the egg retrieval. During the stim process, I was in the office every other day to do blood work (checking hormone levels) and a vaginal ultrasound to check growth and size of follicles. We ended up with 16 follicles, all at the optimal size. We did the egg retrieval with ICSI and assisted hatching ended up with 2 frozen embryos. Initially, we had paid to do PGS testing, after the 5 day embryo growth period we only ended up with 2 embryos. It was then determined at the recommendation of Dr. Groll, to go ahead and freeze the embryos and not to undergo PGS. We did a frozen transfer a month later with a negative pregnancy test result. After the failed first attempt, we did additional testing of my immune system.
Describe your experience with the nursing staff at SpringCreek Fertility.
The nursing staff at Spring Creek Fertility Clinic is incredible. Not only are they knowledgeable and professional but they truly care about you, your family and your course of treatment. Many of the staff (nurses and office staff) have laughed and cried with me throughout my journey. They treat every patient as a friend.
Describe your experience with SpringCreek Fertility.
Stengths: very detailed care. wonderful staff and nurses. Nice clean office. Very knowledgebale doctor who is invested in helping you grow your family. I never ever felt that it was all about the money. Personalized care. You speak to the nurses and Dr. Groll multiple multiple times throughout your course of treatment and they make adjustments as you go. Describe the costs associated with your care under Jeremy Groll at SpringCreek Fertility.
Initial consult $175 out of pocket amount for surgery to remove polyp $500 IVF with PGS $14,300 Meds: retrieval stims $8000 Transfer meds: $500 these numbers are not exact. We had no insurance help for the fertility treatment/meds.
Describe Jeremy Groll's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at SpringCreek Fertility.
Dr Groll tends to lean toward single embryo transfer unless there is a specific reason to do multiple. We did have the final say in determining the number to thaw or transfer (one or two embryos).

He was extremely thorough and very patient with us as this was our first time and we were anxious and had tons of questions....As the exam went on he took the time to explain certain things on the ultrasound and answer my questions about his findings. He gave me my results in real time, right there during the exam.... After our 3 failed IUI attempts Dr. Groll had my natural killer cell level checked. It came back that my NK cells were slightly elevated. He
I think a new patient would want to know that Springcreek is very warm and inviting. The environment is friendly and it does not feel like a sterile doctors office. The scheduling is flexible and you always leave with a sheet that reviews what you had done that day and what you need to do for your next appointment which I find so helpful because you tend to get forgetful when anxious and dealing with treatments. Springcreeks strength is its staff, they really are awesome. T
How was your experience with Jeremy Groll at SpringCreek Fertility?
My experience as a patient has been wonderful. Our first visit with Dr. Groll was a sit down consultation. He went over our history with trying to conceive and asked my husband and I several questions. He explained what he though our course of action should be and described all the testing he would like us to do in detail. He was extremely thorough and very patient with us as this was our first time and we were anxious and had tons of questions. We left that visit feeling very positive. Dr. Groll did my saline sonogram prior to our treatment to check my uterine cavity and to make sure my Fallopian tubes were open. I was nervous since I had never had one of these done and he made me feel completely comfortable. As the exam went on he took the time to explain certain things on the ultrasound and answer my questions about his findings. He gave me my results in real time, right there during the exam. I left that appointment feeling even more positive. After our 3rd IUI we had a meeting with Dr. Groll and he explained why he though our treatment had failed and then explained what he would suggest for us going forward. My husband and I took a break for a few month and recently just decided to get back up on the horse and try again. We had another meeting with Dr. Groll to explain our concerns and he again very thoroughly explained to us the adjustments he would be making to our treatment plan and answered every single one of our questions. We never felt rushed or like we were asking silly questions ( I tend to feel like my questions are a little out there). Every visit with him was lengthy and he took his time with us as a couple. When we felt overwhelmed he explained things in even more detail to make it easier for us to understand and make informed decisions. I would recommend Dr. Groll to anyone looking for fertility care from a compassionate doctor.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Jeremy Groll at SpringCreek Fertility?
I would tell a prospective patient that getting started is the hardest part and that going to Dr. Groll made this process so much easier and informative. From the minute we walked through the door we felt like we were in good hands. I would tell them that he is straightforward and won’t give you false hope. You can tell he is very respected by all of his patients and staff. I would tell a prospective patient that no question is silly and to not be afraid to ask your questions and voice your concerns, he will listen and explain everything.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Jeremy Groll at SpringCreek Fertility?
Being a patient at Dr. Grolls office makes me feel like I’m not just a number. Dr. Groll has sat down with my husband and I several times to answer our questions and concerns, to shed light on things we were unaware of and he always makes us feel comfortable and that we are in good hands. He is willing to try new techniques and medications and he did a complete assessment of my husband and I. Hormonally and physically. He has a fantastic bedside manor and he doesn’t give you false hope. My husband and I were recommended to a second Specialist for a second opinion and we choose to stay at Springcreek with Dr. Groll. We feel confident in his care. His staff is also amazing! Every person I have ever came in contact with there is so caring and compassionate. When you come in for treatment they know you by name and always great you warmly. I have received so many hugs and words of validation and encouragement through my treatment process, they truly make you feel like you are not alone in this process and that there is light at the end of the tunnel. When I have been In tears for yet another failed treatment cycle, they cried with me and showed me so much compassion. They encouraged me to keep trying. We feel very blessed to have found Dr. Groll and his staff.
Describe the protocols Jeremy Groll used in your cycles at SpringCreek Fertility and their degree of success.
Our treatments started after I had my saline sonogram and lab work and my husband had his sperm analysis. My husbands results were: good sperm count, good sperm motility, low sperm morphology. My saline sonogram showed that my tubes were open, I had a mild pcos appearance on my ovaries, and a subserosal fibroid on the front of my uterus. My labs were normal aside from a slightly elevated insulin level (I started metformin immediately). With our results Dr. Groll recommended IUI. We did 3 cycles, I had good follicles each time, I took femara and did a trigger shot 36 hours prior to our iui each time and my husbands post wash counts were always great, they increased every time. After our 3 failed IUI attempts Dr. Groll had my natural killer cell level checked. It came back that my NK cells were slightly elevated. He said this could have been a factor in our failure since on paper we had 3 “perfect” cycles. He recommended either trying another iui with some medication changes or moving to Ivf. These changes would be taking acyclovir prior to ovulation. He said there are some studies of women taking this for dormant viruses and having pregnancy success. He also wanted to do the femara and trigger shot just as we had prior. After ovulation he wanted to add prednisone to help with the elevated NK cells and also a second trigger shot 5 days after ovulation. After thinking it over my husband decided to try another iui. We decided that we could not afford to take the financial hit and the emotional hit if the Ivf cycle failed. We feared we wouldn’t recover.
Describe your experience with the nursing staff at SpringCreek Fertility.
The best way to describe them would be AMAZING! these women make you feel like family. They are there with you through each procedure, the cheer you on and pray for you the finally receive that positive pregnancy test you have prayed for. When our procedures resulted in failure, they comforted me and helped my find the courage to try again. The return calls in a very short amount of time , and do not make you feel silly if you call to ask questions. They always make sure you are ok before you leave and help you get appointments scheduled that work around your schedule. These people are amazing and have made my journey much more bareable.
Describe your experience with SpringCreek Fertility.
The best of any physician I’ve ever been to.
Describe the costs associated with your care under Jeremy Groll at SpringCreek Fertility.
The cost for our care was mainly out of pocket. My lab work and sonogram were covered under my insurance. The IUi procedures we did in a “Bundle” package that Springcreek offers. The cost was $3,100. That included all office visits, ultrasounds, medications, labs (associated with the procedure) and the IUI and sperm collection and washing.

Dr. Groll is trustworthy and approachable. He is willing to listen to your questions and concerns and never comes across as condescending or accusatory. Our experience with Dr. Groll felt like a collaboration towards our fertility goals rather than blindly following the doctor's order as we had experienced in the past.... IVF with ICSI and Frozen Embryo transfer. Pre Stimes was managed with a few weeks of estrace. Egg retrieval(ER)/Stim protocol included Gonal-F & Menopur 11 days prior to ER. Cetrotide antagonist to prevent ovulation was added 5 days prior to ER and an Ovidrel trigger 36 hours before retrieval.
Personal and compassionate care is a strength of Spring Creek Fertility. From the friendly greetings to the charms and personalized hand-written postcards supporting us through the journey, you never felt alone. I did not take advantage of any of them, but they also have several support groups available for patients and non-patients to attend. The only improvement I would make is the addition of an online portal to enable patients to view their results and records.

Describe the costs associated with your care under Jeremy Groll at SpringCreek Fertility.
I paid an upfront deposit in full of around $6,300 that provided all care, monitoring appointments, blood work and procedures for my 1st IVF cycle, Cryo Freeze and first FET. Everything but meds was included in the initial payment to prevent surprises along the way.
Describe Jeremy Groll's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at SpringCreek Fertility.
Doctor recommended 1 embryo transfer due to risk of multiples without significant success rate trade-off. Was strongly against transferring more than two for our first IVF cycle. We preferred to only transfer 1, so this was not an issue.

Dr. Groll ran diagnostic tests to figure out what the best treatment option was for us. Due to my husbands DFI fragmentation, he recommended IVF but did not say it was the "end all be all" option. He did say we could do IUI, however our chances of success were very low. I appreciated that he gave us realistic expectations... He encouraged the use of things like healthy diet, nose strips, fiber supplements, hormone supplements, acuptuncture, yoga etc. This was very important to me as I wanted to do as much as I possibly could to help increase our chances of conceiving. I'm a firm believer in both eastern and western medicine and Dr. Groll was supportive of all of my holistic approaches I wanted to try.
The nursing staff there [at SpringCreek Fertility] is so kind. Everyone is extremely organized and detail oriented...They have a great organized team that offer great resources to their patients. You will always get a hold of someone at their office and they always call when they say they will. I think it's great that I consistently saw Dr. Groll and that I didn't interchange with the nurse practitioner. I think there is something to say about consistency and treatment. I was tossed back and forth at my previous RE's office and it was absolutely awful. I don't know if it's because I was only doing IUI or not, but it was definitely a plus to see him throughout my entire cycle.
How was your experience with Jeremy Groll at SpringCreek Fertility?
He is so incredibly good about explaining things. However, sometimes I found he explained them in straight up medical lingo so it was hard for me to understand fully. I always asked additional questions until I felt comfortable with the response which he was always happy to explain further. Even though we are only half way through our first IVF cycle, we feel like we are in the best care possible. Dr. Groll ran nearly every test possible before we decided to move to IVF and I'm so thankful he did because we discovered my husbands DFI fragmentation which effects the sperm's ability to penetrate the egg. Had we stayed with my previous doctor, I fear that we would have gone through 1-2 more failed IUI cycles. Another thing I liked about Dr. Groll is that he was open to more of a holistic approach for treatment.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Jeremy Groll at SpringCreek Fertility?
As with any doctor, it think it's so important to be your own advocate. Make sure to ask questions and request clarification if you're unsure about something. Most importantly, stay on top of your medication and make sure that you double check on dosage. There was one instance where there was miscommunication between the staff and myself regarding an oral medication I was supposed to stop taking. I was told to keep taking it but when I double checked with the nurse they told me I should have stopped. It wasn't a huge deal since it was early in the cycle but it reminded me how important it is to keep track of your progress and to not solely rely on the staff and Dr. Groll.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Jeremy Groll at SpringCreek Fertility?
As someone who hesitantly came to Springcreek (it was the only clinic my insurance covered and it's over an hour away from our home), I was so pleasently surprised with how much compassion Dr. Groll and his staff had.I had previously seen another doctor in Cincinnati for our IUI's and I was so taken back by the lack of information and matter-of-fact persona he had. I can honestly say the other doctor and his staff jaded the entire infertility process for us and Dr. Groll completely changed our outlook and for the first time in a long time we felt hopeful. He always goes in depth regarding any questions we have, big or small. Springcreek has a plethora of resources for their patients seeking any type of treatment. From support groups, financial advisors, on call 24/7 staff (who actually answer the phone) and counselors. They really go above and beyond for their patients. What I found so sweet was the handwritten card they wrote me as we just started our first IVF treatment. It included words of encouragement and a sweet quote. The little handwritten note went such a long way in my book (and even my husbands)!

He did say we could do IUI, however our chances of success were very low. I appreciated that he gave us realistic expectations. For my first stim cycle, they started me on estrodial, then gonal-f and menopaur. Once we got closer to egg retrieval day, I took antagonist shot and ovidril. I just had my egg retrieval and we successfully retrieved 20 eggs. We do not know where we stand on embroyo development just yet as it was just this morning that I had my procedure.

He [Dr. Jeremy Groll] always seemed confident that things were going to work out but I also knew if there was a problem, he would keep me informed. When our first retrieval didn’t go as expected, he personally called me every day to update me on the progress of our one embryo. He made me feel at ease and confident that he would continue to work to find a better solution for me.
For our first egg retrieval he [Dr. Groll at SpringCreek Fertility] did a similar protocol to my first clinic that didn’t result in many quality embryos. Since I have PCOS, my AMH is high so everyone is worried about me getting OHSS. When my estrogen levels started to decline part way through stimulation, it was similar to previous cycles. Although we did get more eggs retrieved than any previous cycle, we only had 1 5 day embryo that was PGS tested but found to have complex mosaicism.

Dr. Groll keeps you very informed but is compassionate and caring at the same time. When our first retrieval didn’t go as expected, he personally called me every day to update me on the progress of our one embryo. He made me feel at ease and confident that he would continue to work to find a better solution for me.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Jeremy Groll at SpringCreek Fertility?
Make sure you ask questions and feel comfortable that you’re informed.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Jeremy Groll at SpringCreek Fertility?
I initially was treated at a larger clinic and switched to Dr. Groll due to insurance reasons and not feeling as comfortable with my first clinic. I initially felt like I was getting more personalized care. It took him one egg retrieval cycle to figure out how to change my protocol and get a much better result. We ended up with more 5 day embryos than we had even gotten in eggs retrieved at our previous clinic.
Describe the protocols Jeremy Groll used in your cycles at SpringCreek Fertility and their degree of success.
For our first egg retrieval he did a similar protocol to my first clinic that didn’t result in many quality embryos. When he called to tell me we were down to 1 embryo, he already had ideas for the next cycle if PGS testing did not come back normal. During my second stimulation, he kept my Gonal at a consistent dose and allowed my estrogen to increase a little higher. This resulted in 29 eggs retrieved with 7 5 day embryos, 5 of which were PGS normal and 2 mosaic embryos. I had no signs of OHSS. We did a frozen transfer and I felt like he was very aggressive with the protocol with this. This included a steroid, ibuprofen, estrace and progesterone both vaginal suppositories and injectable. I’m currently 9 weeks pregnant from our first transfer.
Describe your experience with the nursing staff at SpringCreek Fertility.
The nurses always kept me very well informed. They told me actually number results for blood work and testing. At my first clinic, I don’t think I ever even heard what my estrogen level was, just the it was “good.” I appreciated the nurses being very detail oriented. They were always caring and compassionate.
Describe your experience with SpringCreek Fertility.
Everyone is very nice and welcoming. I appreciate the atmosphere of the waiting room as it more resembles someone’s home and not a doctors office. The staff is very good at returning calls in a timely manner and answering questions.
Describe the costs associated with your care under Jeremy Groll at SpringCreek Fertility.
I have insurance coverage but did have to pay out of pocket for embryo biopsy which was about $2500 and PGS testing which was billed through an outside company. I believe the cost of IVF with ICSI is pretty standard, probably around $12,000 a cycle. Frozen transfer runs around $1000. I also pay about $45/month for embryo storage.
Describe Jeremy Groll's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at SpringCreek Fertility.
Dr. Groll tends to lean towards single embryo transfer as the overall risk for multiples is lower. I agree with this as I know how much a multiple pregnancy can increase your risk.

We ended up with 3 Day 6 embryos after egg retrieval in August [with Dr. Groll]. He graded them Fair, Fair, and Poor. When we had our first consultation with him, he recommended only transferring one at a time because of the risks to Mom and babies if doing more than one. However after grading our 3 embryos he said if we wanted to transfer two, he would do that for us.
We paid for one round of IVF [at Spring Creek Fertility], it was just under $15,000. We paid for our IVF meds through a special pharmacy he ordered them from $3200...They [staff] have all been available to answer all our questions. Anytime I’ve sent an e-mail, they have been very thorough in answering any questions I had... They [nurses] have continued to be very informative to us with any questions we had. I would e-mail them at random times and they would get back to me that same day answering any questions I had.
How was your experience with Jeremy Groll at SpringCreek Fertility?
I’ve only had one appt. with Dr. Groll and that was yesterday 3/26/18. He was very thorough with what he thinks we need to do and why. Answered any questions we had. We are still at the beginning stages of this journey with him but I know I won’t regret my decision to be his patient. Update: It is now 9/11/18. We started our first round of IVF with Dr. Groll on August, had our egg retrieval at towards the end of August and now we are planning our first FET for 9/25/18. So far, Dr. Groll has still done a great job. He is a very informative and smart person and has answered all our questions and made us feel better when things may not have gone the way we hoped during the stims and egg retrieval and growing of embryos process. Update: 9/27/18 We had our first FET on 9/25/18 and are currently in the 2WW. He answered all our questions and kept us at ease during the whole process.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Jeremy Groll at SpringCreek Fertility?
Don’t worry! He will answer any questions and put your mind at ease. He’s very good at explaining how he thinks things will go.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Jeremy Groll at SpringCreek Fertility?
He and his staff talked to us about everything. Answered any questions we had and made us feel completely at ease.
Describe the protocols Jeremy Groll used in your cycles at SpringCreek Fertility and their degree of success.
We haven’t started any treatments yet. My husband gets a DNA fragmentation index done tomorrow and I go for more blood work on Tuesday 4/3/2018. Update: 9/27/18. We had our first FET on Tuesday 9/25/18. We transferred one embryo graded Fair and are currently in the 2WW. I am taking these meds: thyroid, Estrace 3x a day, prometrium 2x a day, ibuprofen 400mg 2x a day, PIO shot 1x a day, prenatal with fish oil, aspirin, vitamin D, CoQ10, and methyl folate.

Describe your experience with SpringCreek Fertility.
I have just started my journey with this clinic. From what I can see as of right now, they are very accommodating to our needs. I wear hearing aids and can’t talk on the phone but my husband can and they said anytime I need to talk to them I can e-mail or my husband can call. Love this place so far. Update: 9/27/18 Everyone at this clinic has been amazing to us. They have all been available to answer all our questions. Anytime I’ve sent an e-mail, they have been very thorough in answering any questions I had.
Describe the costs associated with your care under Jeremy Groll at SpringCreek Fertility.
I don’t have any costs just yet. Still in the beginning stages of this journey. So far just a couple of co-pays, the rest has been covered by insurance or our HRA. Update: 9/27/18 We paid for one round of IVF, it was just under $15,000. We paid for our IVF meds through a special pharmacy he ordered them from $3200.

Describe the specific things that went wrong at SpringCreek Fertility.
There was a miscommunication back in August. I had my baseline ultrasound scheduled on a Monday and my husband and I both needed to be there to sign consent forms to get the first part of IVF started. Well my husband found out he couldn’t make the Monday appointment because of work so he called to see if we could move it to a different day. The receptionist said yes we can move it to Wednesday. He said ok. Well Monday came and I got an e-mail from the IVf team wondering why I didn’t show. So apparently they kept my baseline ultrasound appointment for Monday and moved the signing of consent on Wednesday. After realizing that they fixed it and we did both on Wednesday so my husband could be there.

Dr. Groll remembers my story and myself. He does not have to start at the chart instead of me during visits.... Full of knowledge. Able to explain everything to make us understand. Bedside manner is very caring and understanding.... Dr. Groll recommended IVF due to stage IV endometriosis. I did not agree due to I have gotten pregnant on my own several times but I always miscarry. Dr. Groll did several labs and found I have MTHFR disorder, increased NK killer cell level, and husband sperm was a little off but good motility.
Appointments are not hard to get. They [SpringCreek Fertility] are very organized at all times. They are always willing to sit down and explain or go over anything. The billing department is very helpful and will work with you anyway they can. The phone line when you leave a message they always call back fast.... The nurses remember us and our story. They are very compassionate and willing to do anything to help...

I saw Dr. Groll as my very first ferility doctor my husband and I saw. He was great and explained everything perfectly. We left because I didnt believe anything was wrong I couldn't accept it. After seeing 2 mote doctors and nothing working over the past 3.5 years and 4 miscarriages later we went back to Dr. Groll. I was scared he wouldn't understand why I left. Not only did they welcome us with open arms but he remembers us and our story.

Describe the protocols Jeremy Groll used in your cycles at SpringCreek Fertility and their degree of success.
Dr Groll started me on the right dose of methylfolate 5mg and Aspirin 81mg. Also when pregnancy occurs prednisone 20mg. I became pregnant after Dr. Groll found scar tissue in my uterus and recommended surgery to remove it. I unfortunately have lost this baby again and ate awaiting to check if it is another ectopic. We will then discuss the next plan.

Dr. Groll was very honest as a doctor and fair. He listened to my concerns and within reason made sure to support my needs as well as continue on the best path to success. I was never waiting long periods to be seen and always received my results within the next business day. As a patient I can't express how amazing his practice is holistically as they do not shy from naturalpath assistance such as acupuncture, massage therapy, etc.
The only true downside is high turnover. I’ve been with the clinic [SpringCreek Fertility] since 2016 and have seen so many new faces. When you build these bonds it’s important to see familiar faces. As a new patient ask lots of questions. No question will go unanswered. They are very accessible even after hours. Don’t be afraid to call. They understand how stressful this journey can be.... I was fortunate to do IVF under a summer special for about 11k to include PGD.

During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Jeremy Groll at SpringCreek Fertility?
Dr. Groll and his associates were beyond amazing during my care. Even though my treatments have yet to result in a pregnancy or a child, my disappointment was their disappointment. I was truly not alone in my experience.
Describe the protocols Jeremy Groll used in your cycles at SpringCreek Fertility and their degree of success.
My first regime was with Julie, the nurse practitioner. I started with Ovulation Induction which resulted in a negative pregnancy. Then we moved on to IUI (letrozole and Ovidrel) which resulted in a negative as well. We moved on to IVF with PGD. I was told to take melatonin, B-vitamin supplement, and CoQ10. My first IVF round included egg retrieval, fertilization and PGD. The transfer included a round a prednisone but that ended in a negative pregnancy. Dr. Groll added Letrozole to the next round and transferred two embryos. That ended in a negative pregnancy. Dr. Groll has recommended me to see an Immunologist in Chicago for further testing.
Describe your experience with the nursing staff at SpringCreek Fertility.
The nurses are like a second family. When we have milestones they cheer you on. When you hurt they share the pain. It’s more than a clinical staff, they are the support system you need during trying times

Describe the costs associated with your care under Jeremy Groll at SpringCreek Fertility.
I was fortunate to do IVF under a summer special for about 11k to include PGD. My medications were covered by my insurance.
Describe Jeremy Groll's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at SpringCreek Fertility.
Dr Groll is conservative within reason of his choice of transfer. My first FET we transferred one embryo. After that failed transfer we discussed with him the possibility of transferring two. He wanted to be sure that no matter what my health and the health of a pregnancy had it’s best chance
