Attention to Detail

Attention to detail is on a 1 - 10 scale, and is scored based on the rate, and severity, of errors committed by the clinic according to the patients.

For example, a severe error might be failing to inform a patient of critical information, while a small error might be failing to call a patient with results.

CDC Success Rates

This is the most recent data from the CDC. The CDC cautions that it should not be used to compare doctors and clinics. This data represents the outcomes of IVF cycles when using a person's own eggs.

For more information please see our FAQs.

Where you see a “?” on the chart, a clinic has done fewer than 20 cycles in this category and age range, so the CDC says showing percentages from this small data set would be misleading and unreliable.

I have never met Dr. Cohen in person, only via Zoom or phone calls...Dr. Cohen is very knowledgeable and communicates very well and will get back to me promptly...For both treatment cycles, I was prescribed letrozole and then had to take a “trigger shot” when I was ready to induce ovulation. Then took progesterone suppositories once daily 3 days after ovulation. One cycle we tried naturally and one was with an IUI
the [Sincera] (nurse) and the (PA) are wonderful, they are who I saw in person at every office visit. They always answered all my questions and it was nice to see familiar faces each visit...I wish there was more face time with the doctors. The billing department is a whole other issue. I’ve had several issues with being charged twice or incorrectly and still have one ongoing issue that has not been resolved.
How was your experience with Rachael Cohen at Sincera Reproductive Medicine (FKA Abington Reproductive Medicine)?
Dr. Cohen is very knowledgeable and communicates very well and will get back to me promptly. She has been kind, especially since both of my cycles ended in early miscarriages. But I’m still struggling to understand why this is happening to me.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Rachael Cohen at Sincera Reproductive Medicine (FKA Abington Reproductive Medicine)?
Advocate for yourself and do your own research to ask as many questions as possible.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Rachael Cohen at Sincera Reproductive Medicine (FKA Abington Reproductive Medicine)?
The doctors are very knowledgeable and nice, but I feel like there is no urgency or even desire to dig deeper to find a reason to why I’ve had 4 miscarriages in 13 months. I feel more like a number than a human.
Describe the protocols Rachael Cohen used in your cycles at Sincera Reproductive Medicine (FKA Abington Reproductive Medicine) and their degree of success.
For both treatment cycles, I was prescribed letrozole and then had to take a “trigger shot” when I was ready to induce ovulation. Then took progesterone suppositories once daily 3 days after ovulation. One cycle we tried naturally and one was with an IUI. Both resulted in a positive pregnancy test, but ended in miscarriage.
Describe your experience with your nurse at Sincera Reproductive Medicine (FKA Abington Reproductive Medicine). (Assigned nurse: Stacy )
Stacy (nurse) and Christina (PA) are wonderful, they are who I saw in person at every office visit. They always answered all my questions and it was nice to see familiar faces each visit. I have never met Dr. Cohen in person, only via Zoom or phone calls.
Describe your experience with Sincera Reproductive Medicine (FKA Abington Reproductive Medicine).
Currently, all appointments that don’t include a medical procedure, with the doctors are virtual. I have yet to meet Dr. Cohen in person and I’ve been with this clinic since August 2021. I wish there was more face time with the doctors. The billing department is a whole other issue. I’ve had several issues with being charged twice or incorrectly and still have one ongoing issue that has not been resolved.
Describe the costs associated with your care under Rachael Cohen at Sincera Reproductive Medicine (FKA Abington Reproductive Medicine).
I’ve spent over $3,000 for two treatment cycles, one IUI, and all the medications.

I’ve met with two doctors and feel like I’ve had two different opinions expressed. One said that my rate of miscarriage is higher with PCOS and the other said there is no connection. It’s frustrating.

He completed my hysteroscopy procedure and made the experience as pleasant as it could be. He did the egg retrieval procedure and made sure I had all viable information available to me and what next steps I should try to take. when it was not successful...He has excellent bedside manner especially when you have to do outpatient procedures either under anesthesia or not.
The [Sincera Reproductive Medicine] nursing staff were good and followed up the next day after each procedure. They had good bedside manner when doing outpatient procedures and ensure my care and well being while in the surgical center...The clinic is good and they keep you informed as to your treatment, next steps and appointments in advance. The only issues was they schedule a few appointments and was unaware of the time and had to follow up.

Dr. Nichols spent a lot of time reviewing results and outlining treatment, but I rarely saw her after the initial consult. The issue with the nursing staff [at Sincera Reproductive Medicine] is that it is a revolving door at Langhorne. Initially I saw the same people for each appointment, then a month later it was a new person at every visit. They were all training and I felt that my patient experience suffered as a result...I was also provided inaccurate information about costs, which resulted in me spending $5000 more than I had budgeted.

The Langhorne office’s nursing staff is constantly changing and the process of drawing blood is a nightmare. The new employees would use me as a pin cushion, turning routine monitoring appointments into a dreaded nightmare. I am not a “difficult stick” but the new employees were always struggling, would call in a PA to help and then leave the room. How is that learning?

My issues with the clinic were in my third cycle when the entire nursing staff changed. Calm, fast appointments became stressful and long. I was also provided inaccurate information about costs, which resulted in me spending $5000 more than I had budgeted.

Dr. Sobel cared about us as people, always taking the time to explain treatments, medications and tests. He personally called me after each round of bloodwork to update me on the results...He never pressured us to start a new cycle before we were ready...We did 4 cycles with letrizole and a trigger shot, then added an IUI to the last 2 of those cycles. We used this protocol because no red flags appeared in my or my husbands bloodwork or testing
Several of the nursing staff [of SRM] are awesome...[clinic error]nurse sent me out once from my last appointment before our IUI without confirming the details, and when we showed up for the IUI two days later, the office didn’t have it scheduled...our insurance doesn’t cover any fertility costs, our cycles all cost a flat fee of $1000, not including medication. Our IUIs were an additional ~$400...Lots of drs, but you still get to see the same one pretty consistently
How was your experience with Michael Sobel at Sincera Reproductive Medicine (FKA Abington Reproductive Medicine)?
Dr. Sobel was a great communicator and clearly explained our options, tests, and treatments. He never pressured us to start a new cycle before we were ready. He personally called me to update me on all bloodwork and tests, including my negative pregnancy tests, which helped to soften the blow of that bad news. We didn’t get pregnant through any of our cycles with Dr Sobel so far, but still plan to continue seeing him.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Michael Sobel at Sincera Reproductive Medicine (FKA Abington Reproductive Medicine)?
Speak up about what you want to do and any questions you have. Dr Sobel was accommodating with treatments I requested or explained in detail why certain treatments weren’t the best fit for us at this time.

Dr Sobel cared about us as people, always taking the time to explain treatments, medications and tests. He personally called me after each round of bloodwork to update me on the results, and was always very encouraging. He was very aware that this was a difficult time for us, and his communication was tailored to empathize with us.

We did 4 cycles with letrizole and a trigger shot, then added an IUI to the last 2 of those cycles. We used this protocol because no red flags appeared in my or my husbands bloodwork or testing. Negative pregnancy tests on all 4 cycles.
Describe your experience with the nursing staff at Sincera Reproductive Medicine (FKA Abington Reproductive Medicine).
Several of the nursing staff are awesome- specifically Robyn and Tamara. There’s another nurse (can’t recall her name) at the KOP and WC offices who always seemed to be rushing me out and never gave me any next steps- she sent me out once from my last appointment before our IUI without confirming the details, and when we showed up for the IUI two days later, the office didn’t have it scheduled. Since timing was of the essence, Robyn stepped in and did our IUI rather than Dr Sobel, but I couldn’t help but be a little frustrated that we were paying for Dr Sobel to do it, and because of a fault on the office’s side, we had a nurse doing our IUI instead.
Describe your experience with Sincera Reproductive Medicine (FKA Abington Reproductive Medicine).
The clinic overall is great! Lots of drs, but you still get to see the same one pretty consistently. The offices have decent hours, and there are enough offices that I can always drive to one within 30 mins regardless of the date and time of my appointment.
Describe the costs associated with your care under Michael Sobel at Sincera Reproductive Medicine (FKA Abington Reproductive Medicine).

We showed up for our last IUI only to discover that there was a scheduling error and the dr was unavailable to complete the procedure. A nurse did it, so we were still able to do our IUI, but that cycle ended with a negative pregnancy test, and I can’t help but wonder if it would have been different if Dr Sobel has administered the IUI.

There are so many nurses and you get a different nurse essentially any time you call or visit. Some nurses are spectacular and are incredibly helpful and have a ton of empathy. Others not as much and any time you feel like you're asking a question it feels like you're bothering them.
Describe your experience with Sincera Reproductive Medicine (FKA Abington Reproductive Medicine).
Lots of facilities to choose from in the Philadelphia area so you won't have to travel far. Some of the doctors and nurses are easier to deal with than others. Dr. Barmat, Dr. Lee, and Dr. Sobel are very nice to deal with and you don't feel so rushed. The Ft. Washington facility is very nice and new, with easy parking. Didn't feel like everything was explained to me very clearly like the costs of medicine or what is or isn't covered with insurance. Sincera is owned by Axia and they handle a lot of that but are incredibly hard to get ahold of and would take a ton of time to return calls, if at all. There were times we had to call different people to just get someone to answer us.

How was your experience with Michael Sobel at Sincera Reproductive Medicine (FKA Abington Reproductive Medicine)?
Dr. Sobel is very caring, and has a good balance between explaining candidly our test results and treatments, while also recognizing that this experience is difficult for us. He not only cares for the physical infertility issues that we’re experiencing, but wants to make sure that mentally and emotionally, we’re doing well and getting the support we need. He was sincerely empathetic and supportive each time I had a negative pregnancy test, and personally called me to let me know that he understood how difficult and disappointing it was to head that news, and encouraged me to take a break if I needed before beginning a new cycle- the choice was always up to me.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Michael Sobel at Sincera Reproductive Medicine (FKA Abington Reproductive Medicine)?
He does treat you as a patient with the assumption that infertility is hard for you. I appreciate this, because infertility IS hard, and I enjoy having someone to talk to about it. My husband is less keen on discussing our infertility himself with anyone, including our doctors, and so he finds Dr. Sobel’s extremely empathetic nature a little off putting. Be prepared to let Dr. Sobel know that you’re doing find mentally and emotionally if you are, and be straightforward in asking him to give you the facts straight up without the emotional cushion if that’s what you want.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Michael Sobel at Sincera Reproductive Medicine (FKA Abington Reproductive Medicine)?
Dr. Sobel is an extremely caring and empathetic professional. He personally called me after each round of bloodwork to let me know how things were going, and encouraged me to remain hopeful.
Describe the protocols Michael Sobel used in your cycles at Sincera Reproductive Medicine (FKA Abington Reproductive Medicine) and their degree of success.
We had two cycles with letrizole (as opposed to chlomid because I had reacted negatively to chlomid under my OBGYN’s prescription) and an ovedril trigger shot, complete with regular bloodwork and monitoring. After the timing and bloodwork seemed to look great in both of those cycles, but we still received 2 negative pregnancy tests, we decided to add in an IUI. We had 2 cycles with the same protocol including IUI, both ending in a negative pregnancy test.
Describe your experience with the nursing staff at Sincera Reproductive Medicine (FKA Abington Reproductive Medicine).
Some of the nurses at Dr. Sobel’s office are FANTASTIC! I especially love Robyn and Tamara- the bloodwork tech. They are always so friendly and can help turn my day around with their empathy and cheerfulness. There’s another nurse I’m not a fan of- I’m unsure of her name, but she’s always very rushed and never apologizes if things are running behind. She once was the last person I saw before our IUI, and even after confirming the time for our IUI the next day with her, when we arrived for the procedure the next morning, it wasn’t on the schedule. We were still able to have the procedure done, but had to wait longer, and I suspect it was because of that nurse’s mistake in scheduling.
Describe your experience with Sincera Reproductive Medicine (FKA Abington Reproductive Medicine).
The clinic has many locations, which is convenient, because whether I’m at home or work, there’s always a clinic nearby. The hours are also great, and they have a nice wide window for bloodwork walk-ins- 7:00-9:30.
Describe the costs associated with your care under Michael Sobel at Sincera Reproductive Medicine (FKA Abington Reproductive Medicine).
Our insurance doesn’t contribute at all toward our treatment, so we had to pay a flat rate of $1,000 per cycle, with an additional $400 for each IUI and around $200 in medications each cycle.

Describe the specific things that went wrong at Sincera Reproductive Medicine (FKA Abington Reproductive Medicine).
At my final visit before our IUI, I confirmed the time of our IUI the next morning with a nurse (unfortunately I can’t remember her name). When we arrived for our IUI the next morning, the office didn’t have our IUI on the schedule, which I suspect was due to the nurse failing to convey that information to those making the schedule. Thankfully we were still able to have our IUI done, but it had to be done by someone other than Dr. Sobel.

Very understanding, does not waste your time. He sets a plan and sticks to it. Explains everything that happens with the process. He works great with the main nurse. They both work together as a team to establish what will happen with the fertility process. ... I was on clomid for the first course to increase my chances with strengthening my ovulation. The clomid did make me ovulate however I produced too many follicles. So no IUI that round. I then did Letrozole and IUI my second round. My husband has low sperm count but the IUI was not successful and due to the Pandemic we are unable to get further rounds of IUI till the Pandemic ends
Strengths organized and professional. The staff [is very nice and compassionate which is nice because the infertility journey is very stressful. Weakness the lab tech does not explain what labs she is drawing. I would like an explanation of what labs were taken each time I was there ... [nurses] Great communication. The staff gets back to you within a day of leaving a message.

[Dr. Jennifer Nichols is] Great for initial consults and to have as a doctor - would not change that. Not sure her treatment protocols are as creative as some other doctors; though I think finding someone great at this is rare. Important to stay educated by doing research on your own etc...Very easy to talk to. Very good bedside manner. Explained things really well.
Front desk staff [at Sincera Reproductive Medicine] was really nice and friendly. My one complaint is that every time I tried to schedule over the phone I waited on hold for 30-40 minutes...For some reason they just don't have enough people for phone support which is makes no sense since all other areas run super smoothly. Thankfully I would schedule in person whenever possible or the nurses would do it in advance, but would be nice if I could call and talk to someone more easily.
How was your experience with Jennifer Nichols at Sincera Reproductive Medicine (FKA Abington Reproductive Medicine)?
Always good at listening and providing great information. Made me feel comfortable. Was delicate about my situation and did not push me to extremes. Let me start with IUI and move on to IVF later. Had a nice balance of honesty about my chances but was not negative/bleak.

Most of the doctors, PAs and nurses are great. But as with all places there are some that are not as good. Nursing staff was really good about responding to questions over e-mail or calling about results/updates. Always got a call from a nurse in less than 24 hours when requested. Front desk staff was really nice and friendly. My one complaint is that every time I tried to schedule over the phone I waited on hold for 30-40 minutes and sometimes wound up hanging up. For some reason they just don't have enough people for phone support which is makes no sense since all other areas run super smoothly. Thankfully I would schedule in person whenever possible or the nurses would do it in advance, but would be nice if I could call and talk to someone more easily.

Dr. Barmat has the best bedside manner. He knows his stuff and takes time for every patient. He listens and cares...he takes time to see how you are doing and has a normal conversation with you about everything (vacations, family, marriage, etc.). We never feel rushed and he answers every question with respect and care.
She [nurse of Sincera Reproductive Medicine] s very organized and presenting lots of information very well considering there was so much to cover...Average as compared to other places we looked into. We took out a loan...financing was easy...Dr. Barmat has the best bedside manner. He knows his stuff and takes time for every patient.
How was your experience with Larry Barmat at Sincera Reproductive Medicine (FKA Abington Reproductive Medicine)?
Dr. Barmat has the best bedside manner. He knows his stuff and takes time for every patient. He listens and cares. I have never felt rushed when speaking to him. I honestly don't know how he does it. My only 'bad' experience was when he was a little optimistic of recovery time and pain after egg retrieval. He said it would be easy but I was in a lot of pain after. He was so calm but I was not. His calm was helpful but I would have preferred if he told me, it was going to hurt like xxxx.

Experiences with Kelsey Cuff were fantastic. She complements Dr. Barmat very well. She was attentive and knowledgeable. She is very organized and presenting lots of information very well considering there was so much to cover. Dawn Marie was awful on the other hand. I felt like I was at an auction and she was trying to beat her last score on how fast she could talk or how quickly she could get us out of there. She never introduced herself or the other woman standing in the room looking at our personal info. When asked to slow down, she seemed agitated and then condescending (speaking to me as if I was a child or slight learning disability). She proceeded to share with my dates to remember one after another instead of just printing them out for me. Seemed very confusing and unorganized.

Annette Lee is extremely knowledgable and has a list of other doctors that she can refer you to if needed...She was available in person and over the phone. She would call personally anytime she had results to share...I had blood work drawn to see if I had any underlying causes. Once that was done, she recommended I have an HSG and Hysteroscopy. I was then put on Clomid to see if I could get pregnant from that. I went back for bloodwork and I was not pregnant. She recommended us to do IVF because IUI would not be successful for us.
Strengths [of Sincera Reproductive Medicine]: Staff is very nice and knowledgable. Clean facility. They provide you will lots of resources. Weaknesses: The front desk lady is not always the nicest but if you are nice to her she will be nice back...It is hard to tell what everything costed because it was all through Axia Women's health. When I was at the office I did not have to pay. Bloodwork, HSG, Hysteroscopy was billed to me through Asia Women's Health. I have paid close to $3,000 so far just for bloodwork

One issue I had from the start was that he [Dr. Barmat] always referred to IVF as creating a "test tube baby." I did not like that terminology. He did describe everything in detail and explained our best course of action. When we chose to do IUI first due to insurance coverage he supported this decision...At times it seemed like I was just a number. My husband and I felt that IVF was pushed instantly. At other times I appreciated his interactions as they were more personal.
One downfall [to Sincera Reproductive Medicine] is they do not offer financing through the clinic (has to be done through third party)...The nurses here are great. Very responsive. Very compassionate. Happy to answer questions...He [Dr. Barmat] did describe everything in detail and explained our best course of action. Dr. Nichols was amazing from our first appointment to our last one. She listens without interrupting. Answers the most insane questions without judgement. Is willing to try anything. Will explain information countless times until you understand. She’s compassionate, positive, friendly and understanding...I have PCOS and do not ovulate on my own. We started with an injectible cycle that was turned to an IVF cycle when I overproduced follicles. We did a fresh transfer, and then four frozen transfers before a positive pregnancy. When trying for a second, we attempted one round of IUI with IVF being recommended moving forward...I was diagnosed with a bicornuate uterus. Nichols only recommended one embryo at a time for my safety
Nurses [at Abington Reproductive Medicine] were incredibly helpful. Would offer free samples if available, because they knew we struggled to keep up with paying for everything...Strengths of the office would be the availability of doctors appointments and the communication with the nurses. They take the time to explain everything in greater detail. The only weakness is when you call, there is only one number for all of the offices. So you may not get the office you normally visit and will have to leave a message and wait until later in the day for a call back.

My experience with Dr. Lee has been positive, despite not achieving the results I wanted. She has been understanding, compassionate, and straightforward with me the entire time I was under her care. From what I can tell, she made sure no box was unchecked and did her best to uncover the reasons why I couldn't get pregnant. I didn't see her every time I was at the clinic, in fact I probably only saw her once every 5 or 6 visits, but I was confident she was monitoring my progress regardless.... We used both letrozole and gonal-f for our TI
The entire staff at ARM is incredibly friendly and helpful. Getting an early morning monitoring appointment was essential to my being able to pursue treatment. I never had a problem scheduling an appointment and all my calls were returned same day. The only negative I can say about ARM is that I didn't always receive an email with my lab results, it varied greatly depending on who was monitoring me that day. But I did receive a phone call which is appreciated.... I loved my nurse, Sue! She was a fantastic cheerleader, communicator, and support.

We used both letrozole and gonal-f for our TI and IUI procedures. I don't have ovulation issues, but these were used to make the ovulation stronger and to time it correctly. She also prescribed progesterone after ovulation occurred. None of the 7 rounds resulted in a pregnancy, which is not ideal, but everything "looked good" on paper.

Describe the specific things that went wrong at Sincera Reproductive Medicine (FKA Abington Reproductive Medicine).
The only thing that went wrong at the clinic was that it varied on when I would be called with results. Some months I would get a call after every monitoring appointment, others I would only get a call if something was wrong, or sometimes I didn't receive a call with lab results at all. It was never for anything major so I wasn't too bothered by it.

I liked meeting with Dr. Somkuti when I saw him. He is obviously knowledgable and interjects humor when appropriate. When you go for monitoring visits, it is almost always a nurse, but procedures were all completed by Dr. Somkuti or another physician...I can see how it [his humor] might not be for everyone...ordered a full panel of bloodwork and recommended several procedures to rule out genetic issues, metabolic issues, fallopian tubes problems or abnormalities in the uterus. Every thing came back fine, with the exception of a recessive genetic disorder, but my husband is not a carrier. We proceeded with a medicated cycle (Clomid, Ovidrel) and timed intercourse, I became pregnant during the first cycle, but had a miscarriage at 7 weeks.
Over $2000 for monitoring ultrasounds and two diagnostic procedures for testing cycle/medicated timed intercourse [at Abington Reproductive Medicine]...I met with a financial consultant during my first appointment and was told that monitoring procedures would be covered with a referral. During my testing cycle, I noticed that Explanation of Benefits (EOB) on my insurance page were showing large bills for ultrasounds (usually $180 or more). I called the billing department right away and was told that it was just an EOB and the final bill should reflect that I'm covered. With this assurance, I continued with my ultrasounds (probably 8 total).

Dr. Somkuti ordered a full panel of bloodwork and recommended several procedures to rule out genetic issues, metabolic issues, fallopian tubes problems or abnormalities in the uterus. Every thing came back fine, with the exception of a recessive genetic disorder, but my husband is not a carrier. We proceeded with a medicated cycle (Clomid, Ovidrel) and timed intercourse, I became pregnant during the first cycle, but had a miscarriage at 7 weeks.
Describe your experience with the nursing staff at Sincera Reproductive Medicine (FKA Abington Reproductive Medicine).
I had a great experience with the nursing staff. They responded to messages promptly and usually provided test results promptly.
Describe your experience with Sincera Reproductive Medicine (FKA Abington Reproductive Medicine).
I had a terrible experience with the billing department at this practice. I met with a financial consultant during my first appointment and was told that monitoring procedures would be covered with a referral. A few weeks later, I received bills for the ultrasound and two procedures, totaling over $2000. I called multiple people within the practice about this concern and was told that it was part of my deductible. I consulted with a colleague with identical insurance who was undergoing fertility treatments at another practice and she was only billed the copay ($40) for identical services. The practice was completely unwilling to review their billing procedures. I visited two additional practices in the area for consultations and was billed only the copay for ultrasounds. I am still trying to resolve this issue.
Describe the costs associated with your care under Stephen Somkuti at Sincera Reproductive Medicine (FKA Abington Reproductive Medicine).
Over $2000 for monitoring ultrasounds and two diagnostic procedures for testing cycle/medicated timed intercourse.

Dr. Somkuti is kind, humorous, and straightforward. I appreciate the detail and time that he dedicates to us. Dr. Somkuti personally calls us regarding test results. I truly appreciate this because I know it takes time and patience to give us results and answer questions. Our journey is only beginning, and diminished ovarian reserve is a whole lot to process....Cycle 1: trying naturally with the assistance of clomid and the ovulation trigger shot (ovidrel) Cycle 2: IUI with clomid (because my body responded well the first time) and ovulation trigger shot (ovidrel)
I leave most appointments meeting with a nurse before I leave [Abington Reproductive]. All of my questions are answered. There are times when I email a question and get an almost immediate and helpful response. I have had a lot of questions and nerves about the IUI procedure. Susan took her time to give me the peace of mind. I feel so comfortable talking to the nursing staff...I could go on and on about the strengths of this clinic. Being a school teacher, my schedule is very limited. This practice works around my schedule by offering 7am appointments. I see the people at this clinic more than my own parents! They treat you like you matter, and that is very important.

My husband and I suffered a miscarriage a year prior. Instead of telling us how common it is and so on, we were comforted. We knew instantly that we wanted to continue with Abington Reproductive because we were treated with such kindness.

My initial testing was a few hundred dollars. I go once or twice a week for bloodwork, ultrasounds, procedures, etc. Each visit is a $40 co-pay. Medications for the 2 cycles were $300 total. Labcorp bloodwork has been hundreds of dollars (still waiting on the total bill.) My husband keeps it all in a spreadsheet. My husband has gone 2 times to give a sample totaling $80.

She makes me feel like she is all in and is just as frustrated with the situation as we are. She is up beat but seems to understand how eager I am to get and stay pregnant. We even did testing that was very obscure. After starting my FET cycle I had no communication with her other than two lining checks...After the transfer failed I still have yet to hear from her even after calling and emailing...it has been two weeks...she is open to doing multiple [embryo transfer]...
At prior clinic I was always allowed to come in on day seven after transfer to do a first Beta. This clinic [Abington Reproductive Medicine] insists you wait 11 days... As it came time to start my FET cycle I was only seen twice prior to the transfer. My instruction sheets were not correct for my medication with some omissions and some incorrect times. I could not reach anyone and when I did get to speak to a nurse she was very difficult to talk to and acted annoyed. The staff at the main office at the Toll Center at Abington was especially unpleasant.
How was your experience with Tara Budinetz at Sincera Reproductive Medicine (FKA Abington Reproductive Medicine)?
At first Dr B is very eager to get to the bottom of things. She makes me feel like she is all in and is just as frustrated with the situation as we are. She is up beat but seems to understand how eager I am to get and stay pregnant. We even did testing that was very obscure. After starting my FET cycle I had no communication with her other than two lining checks. On the day of transfer I did not k ow who I would be seeing. I happened to see Dr Barmat who was very pleasant but couldn’t answer many questions pertaining to me as he is not my regular doctor. Prior to my transfer I was asked to go to a hematology/oncology doctor as well as a specialist for “anti-aging and hormone wellness” to get various testing done. I could not get my results from the anti aging dr or reach Dr B for nearly a week to follow up. After the transfer failed I still have yet to hear from her even after calling and emailing Abington. When you call you are always transferred to the nurse answering machine. I have yet to get a call back from anyone and it has been two weeks. I honestly can’t blame Dr B for the clinics protocol but I feel she could have called.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Tara Budinetz at Sincera Reproductive Medicine (FKA Abington Reproductive Medicine)?
Make a list of questions BC it can get hectic and touch on many subjects when you have a meeting with Dr.B. She is so smart and you can tell her brain works fast so sometimes you forget to get the answers you intend to get!
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Tara Budinetz at Sincera Reproductive Medicine (FKA Abington Reproductive Medicine)?
On my first few visits before treatment the office and staff was very friendly and easy to contact. It feels like they are advocating and cheering for you.
Describe the protocols Tara Budinetz used in your cycles at Sincera Reproductive Medicine (FKA Abington Reproductive Medicine) and their degree of success.
I have mostly done more testing with Dr B but even the testing has been more obscure than my other doctor. All testing has been normal so we don’t have answers yet as to why three transfers with pgs normal embryos have failed. She wants to know as bad as I do what the issue is. She asked me to see several other specialists for additional testing which came back all normal. She still wanted to add some obscure things to my program such as Intralipid infusions and lovenox and vaginal viagra.
Describe your experience with your nurse at Sincera Reproductive Medicine (FKA Abington Reproductive Medicine). (Assigned nurse: Kristin Derrington)
She has terrible bedside manner. She seemed angry with any question. After my FET I had multiple negative tests and asked if I may come in on Friday instead of Monday for a beta so I could stop the medications early as I was on lovenox and pio and a large amount of estrogen: I was told that there is. I way for my system to even have HCG at that point yet which is basic biology. A nurse should know that and not make a stupid argument. Also she got angry and acted like I was being defiant for wanting to stop the medications. My thought was to save myself from 9 needle sticks and a lot of un needed medication. Lovenox being a blood thinner and I’m a professional athlete so it’s risky. Not to mention about $150 worth of meds. At prior clinic I was always allowed to come in on day seven after transfer to do a first Beta. This clinic insists you wait 11 days.
Describe your experience with Sincera Reproductive Medicine (FKA Abington Reproductive Medicine).
The staff is not compassionate at all. Trying to reach anyone is very difficult once I had paid I feel like it was game over. There are very many options for clinics in the Pa area. The surgery and ET are all done at Abington main but there are satellite offices in most areas of the state. That being said it gets a little less personal when you call. Each time I have had a question calling for me a different person

Our first impression was that he [Dr. Sobel] was overly sensitive. We commented how I’m sure some couples need that, but we wanted to hear facts and base our decisions off of reason. ... He would call every so often, with lab results but not usually. He was unclear with his reasonings to do certain things ... Did not know our names, did not remember conversations we had. Very impersonal.
It is a branch location [Sincera Reproductive Medicine] for a larger branch in Abington PA. You are treated like a branch. It is small in a basement. You might have to drive to Abington or other locations where they do not treat you well either. ... Robin was extremely unprofessional. Not only did she contradict what Dr. Sobel said to us, she also sent an email to my husband BY MISTAKE, meaning to only send it to the PA, saying unprofessional things about me. I never received an apology, just an excuse. She lied to me saying she spoke with Dr. Sobel when she did not, and told me I could not make an appointment to have a consultation with him.
How was your experience with Michael Sobel at Sincera Reproductive Medicine (FKA Abington Reproductive Medicine)?
Our first impression was that he was overly sensitive. We commented how I’m sure some couples need that, but we wanted to hear facts and base our decisions off of reason. We then did not see or deal with him, he handed everything off to his physicians assistant. They gave us conflicting information, constantly. He would call every so often, with lab results but not usually. He was unclear with his reasonings to do certain things, and again his staff (PA and nurse) conflicted his information to us.

Dr. Sobel was never there. When he was he was so out of the loop that he had no idea who we were what we were doing or why. Our first impression was that he seemed very compassionate, but we saw his true colors pretty soon after when he did not care at all about us or our treatments, how they effected my wife, and myself....He had my wife take Clomid for a cycle by itself to see how she responded. Then we tried Letrozole and had 4 IUIs with the Letrozole.
The nurse [Sincera Repro Med] sent an extremely unprofessional email to me by mistake. It was rude and uncalled for, we never received an apology. We were told we could not have an appointment with Dr. Sobel for an explanation on our treatment plan. We received conflicting information between the PA and Nurse with Dr. Sobel....Robin was rude, was not compassionate at all, and was extremely unprofessional. She would get annoyed when you asked questions, but did not do a sufficient job explaining things. Of course you never got to see Dr. Sobel so you only had Robin and Sarah the Physicians Assistant to go to.

He had my wife take Clomid for a cycle by itself to see how she responded. Then we tried Letrozole and had 4 IUIs with the Letrozole. We switched because she did not have a good response to Clomid. We were told originally that we would probably only do 3 IUI's, but through miscommunication and poor treatment we went through a fourth. When my wife tried to ask why it changed we received a very unprofessional email from his nurse. Hind sight we should have left then, but we went through the fourth IUI with the same result.

With the exception of the first time we met with him, he [Dr. Sobel] had no idea who we were, what our situation was, or what our journey was like, even though we divulged all of that at the first meeting. He didn't even know facts from our chart as he should have. He had no idea how many embryos we had or that we had used donor sperm...I barely saw him in office. He didn't physically have any hand in our treatment (retrieval, insemination, transfers)
I had a copay of $35 for each visit and test. An optional test ($650) and anything associated with donor sperm ($900 for purchase and storage) was out of pocket...I love that there are multiple [Sincera Reproductive Medicine] locations so you don't have to postpone any tests, labs or appointments. I was also able to go to appointments close to my work or my husband's when needed. The office staff is very considerate and friendly. They took the time to get to know you
How was your experience with Michael Sobel at Sincera Reproductive Medicine (FKA Abington Reproductive Medicine)?
He was incredibly nice and compassionate at our consultation meeting. He wanted to know everything about us and our hopes and dreams. He promised that I was at the ideal age and in ideal health for the treatment we needed to do (IVF with ICSI) to be successful. That was where that kind of treatment ended. From there on he made no effort to know who we were or figure out why things weren't working for us. I barely saw him in office. He didn't physically have any hand in our treatment (retrieval, insemination, transfers) like his colleagues don't trust him either. His call to tell me each time the transfers didn't work was uncaring. He had no answers for us for what more we could do to help the process. He never gave me the information for the option of freezing our remaining donor sperm so it was discarded (like we had an extra $1,000 to buy it again for further treatment). He told me I must be depressed, that's why things weren't working. This was incredibly insensitive considering what we were going through. It turns out he missed my cycle change (ovulation impeding) in my bloodwork... An easy adjustment, as it turns out. His colleague caught it when I switched to her. She adjusted the timing of my transfer and we got a positive result. I don't think he even looked at my bloodwork.

Describe the protocols Michael Sobel used in your cycles at Sincera Reproductive Medicine (FKA Abington Reproductive Medicine) and their degree of success.
We had to go right to the intensive treatment (IVF with ICSI) because of my husband's condition. There were no known medical conditions with me. We started the IVF medication for egg retrieval (12 eggs retrieved), used donor sperm to inseminate when my husband's procedure failed (8 inseminated), and did a fresh transfer. We had a total of 4 viable embryos. This transfer did not work. (3 embryos left). He gave us no indication as to reason and made no changes to our treatment. He said we had "plenty" of embryos. This is when I found out the lab discarded our remaining donor sperm because he never gave me the option or storage information in order for it to be saved. We had purchased the last of that donor's sperm, so we'd have to do the selection process all over again if we needed more sperm. He informed me of this, and unprofessional and cold is the only way to describe it. Next, we did a frozen transfer with no change and the same result. For the third try, I saw a colleague of his after a last minute schedule change. She suggested that we do one more test to get more information about my cycle. We did. The results came back normal, but because of how thorough she answered my questions, how she treated me and how she explained her rational and thinking, I switched my treatment to her.

He told me he wouldn't do a multiple transfer because I wasn't 35 yet. That was his reasoning and I should have realized he was incompetent right there. Yes those were the guidelines but he couldn't explain why they were the guidelines and what would constitute a reason to ignore them. He just didn't know why, he just knew the "rule".

The lack of information was due to Dr. Sobel's incompetence. He didn't communicate well with patience or his nurses. I heard him berate the nurses on more than one occasion when they had to ask him a question he never answered for me, like they should already know. He also blamed the nurses for not informing me of my options with my donor sperm storage. He was the person I spoke to about the donor sperm, I never spoke to a nurse about it.

I truly was pleased and impressed by how he [Dr. Sobel] treated me as a patient. He cared about our life, our goals, and our vision for our fertility journey. He was honest, but with a caring heart. He explained things in detail and took time to make sure my husband and I understood.... When he found that I had a septum in my uterus, he moved forward with removing the septum before any pregnancy. I also had the HSG done to check my tubes.
Small office [Abington Repro Med] tucked away in a basement so the location is not the most ideal - felt slightly claustrophobic in the building. They have a great staff and very clean office. The office is a branch office, so it is not a top-of-the-notch facility. However, we felt welcomed.... We would meet with her [nurse] at the end of every appointment, and she is would explain the next steps. She was great at communicating and answering questions. She was the one who would go over all the details of the process of medicated cycles.
How was your experience with Michael Sobel at Sincera Reproductive Medicine (FKA Abington Reproductive Medicine)?
I truly was pleased and impressed by how he treated me as a patient. He cared about our life, our goals, and our vision for our fertility journey. He was honest, but with a caring heart. He explained things in detail and took time to make sure my husband and I understood. Bedside manners we're top notch, always making sure I was comfortable with everything.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Michael Sobel at Sincera Reproductive Medicine (FKA Abington Reproductive Medicine)?
Be honest and open about your vision/goal for your fertility journey. He respects wishes (example: we want to go as natural as possible) of you both.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Michael Sobel at Sincera Reproductive Medicine (FKA Abington Reproductive Medicine)?
He genuinely seemed to care about myself and my husband. He'd answer our questions, and he was sensitive to our emotions through the process.
Describe the protocols Michael Sobel used in your cycles at Sincera Reproductive Medicine (FKA Abington Reproductive Medicine) and their degree of success.
I did medicated cycles with ultrasounds to track the process. They were very structured with how the process went, and gave a complete outline of the process. It was easy to follow. Medications, ultrasounds, and blood work. He also did a great workup of exploratory diagnosis of our fertility. When he found that I had a septum in my uterus, he moved forward with removing the septum before any pregnancy. I also had the HSG done to check my tubes.

Describe the costs associated with your care under Michael Sobel at Sincera Reproductive Medicine (FKA Abington Reproductive Medicine).
Insurance covered the diagnostic testing. It was about $1000-$1500 per medicated cycle, and only about $20-30 per cycle for the medication. Per visit was our copay of $40.

She [Dr. Annette Lee] is an excellent communicator. Her bed side manner is wonderful. She is gentle. She takes her time to make sure she see what she needs to see when doing the FETs. When one of our frozen embryos did not react well to the thawing process she spoke to me and my husband about our options on the day of the transfer and when we made our decision she affirmed our decision...She went by the guidelines and would recommend transferring 1 embryo. We were educated about the outcomes for both single and multiple.
FET cycle is 2,300 [at Abington Reproductive Medicine]...Billing department can be tough to get aim contact with. However once you do they are very helpful. It is easy to make an appointment. They had fragrance plug ins that can be over powering at the Abington office. Office at Abington looks outdated. The Lansdale office is newer...They [nurses] are kind, attentive, knowledgeable. Returned all phone calls and were eager to make my experience a pleasant one

Estracre pills morning and night, estrogen patches ever three days. This was to help build my uterun wall. Medrol 5 days before transfer. Start progesterone and oil shots in the morning 5 days before to get my uterus ready. After transfer continue with progesterone and oil shots, patches and progesterone suppositories.

[Dr. Budinetz is] very understanding and provides answers to all questions. She also recognizes that environmental factors can play a role in infertility and refers patients to acupuncture during treatment...I was able to be seen within a week of calling and was told almost immediately what she thought was going on. After all testing was complete it was confirmed that I have diminished reserve. She’s been honest that I can get pregnant, but may have low quality eggs given my high levels.
[The nursing staff at Abington Reproductive Medicine is] Amazing and very sweet...IUI runs roughly $1,500 a cycle...The overall practice is great, appointment setting can be stressful. Sometimes appointments are set without talking to you and you are forced to work your schedule around availability. This also is an attempt to get you seen quickly, so likely not an issue if you don’t need to move quickly...I had a full blood panel, HSG and saline sono. After these were complete I used letrozole for 5 days during my cycle. This proved the best as I had two large follicles. We actually have round 1 of IUI tomorrow and letrozle once again produces two quality eggs.
How was your experience with Tara Budinetz at Sincera Reproductive Medicine (FKA Abington Reproductive Medicine)?
The doctor is fantastic, they do have a small staff so appointments are made from their main office in Abington, which can lead to undesired appointment times. I was able to be seen within a week of calling and was told almost immediately what she thought was going on. After all testing was complete it was confirmed that I have diminished reserve. She’s been honest that I can get pregnant, but may have low quality eggs given my high levels.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Tara Budinetz at Sincera Reproductive Medicine (FKA Abington Reproductive Medicine)?
You need an understanding job as appointments are scattered.

Dr. B [Budinetz] is so patient and kind, you never feel rushed when in her office. She puts everything out on the table for you in the most gentle of ways. She is easy to get an appointment with & always so warm and welcoming. I can’t say enough good things about her. 3 years ago she correctly diagnosed me with endometriosis.. after months of fertility pills and 2 years of trying to get pregnant I finally got my miracle baby. We have been TTC
Easy to get an appt which I know is not typical of fertility offices. The front desk staff [Abington Reproductive Med] are pleasant. You get your results back in a timely manner from the nurses most times which helps alleviate some of the anxiety of TTC. No negatives.... Molly [nurse] was also great! She was available when Dr. B wasn’t and did some of my tests as well.... Dr. B [Budinetz] is so warm, friendly, accommodating knowledgeable (the list could go on & on!)

Luckily my insurance covered mostly everything due to my Endometriosis being the diagnosis codes. The fertility pills were fairly cheap.

She [Dr. Budinetz] decides single versus multiple based on your personal case and situation but ultimately leaves the final decision to the patient...Her bedside manner was amazing. She crossed every t and dotted every i to make sure we had the best possible results. I can't describe any weaknesses with her because she was a great dr. Although we didn't have a positive pregnancy test she remains invested in our case and helping us become parents
Molly [nurse at Abington Reproductive Medicine] was a great communicator and had a great personality...It [monitoring] was well oiled machine. You'd get called back for bloodwork and then back to the monitoring room. They'd be in within minutes...$11,000 for ivf cycle plus $4000 for meds...Returned my calls and answered questions within hours of my call if I called during business hours. Any calls after hours were returned early afternoon. If I had a question they couldn't answer while I was on the phone with them they would refer to the dr and then call me back with an answer

Having unexplained infertility makes is very difficult because as I am going through treatment I am getting good results but it never ends in a pregnancy. Dr. Nichols is caring and compassionate. She is also professional but friendly and easy going...My treatment was strategies didn’t change during they cycle...[she] did have a strong preference on not transferring more than 2 embryos at a time.
They have several locations which is good. Nurses get back to you timely and the same day. The billing dept was only available over the phone. Would have preferred to sit down with someone to go over cost and options...$20,000 between frozen cycle, meds, iui, dr visit copays...Weakness was they didn’t really offer resources to get meds cheaper or treatment less expensive.
