Attention to Detail
Attention to detail is on a 1 - 10 scale, and is scored based on the rate, and severity, of errors committed by the clinic according to the patients.
For example, a severe error might be failing to inform a patient of critical information, while a small error might be failing to call a patient with results.
CDC Success Rates
This is the most recent data from the CDC. The CDC cautions that it should not be used to compare doctors and clinics. This data represents the outcomes of IVF cycles when using a person's own eggs.
For more information please see our FAQs.
Where you see a “?” on the chart, a clinic has done fewer than 20 cycles in this category and age range, so the CDC says showing percentages from this small data set would be misleading and unreliable.

We first started off a slightly modified IVF from our first Doctor (IVF med dosages). We then tried natural cycles and then FETs. We then completed an assay and pointed to increasing progesterone during the cycle may help. We also elected to genetic testing since we were in the unexplained category.

I felt very confident working with Dr. Lebovic. He demonstrated his knowledge and understanding of the subject matter and shared learnings from all his experience. He was compassionate about our individual situations and patient with our decisions. He clearly explained all our options and provided us with his recommendation for best chance of success. In the end we were successful after our first round of IVF and my husband and I feel we could not have gotten this far without a doctor like Dr. Lebovic.
Their [Washington University School of Medicine] greatest strength was their timeliness. I was never left sitting in the waiting room for too long before being seen. The ultrasound technicians and nurses drawing blood were professional and highly trained. Most appointments lasted less than 5 minutes. As everyone has busy schedules I appreciated their timeliness to get me in and out promptly. The clinic was easy to communicate with.

Describe the protocols Dan Lebovic used in your cycles at Washington University School of Medicine and their degree of success.
Dr. Lebovic diagnosed me with PCOS. Prior to meeting with Dr. Lebovic I was prescribed Clomid and that was unsuccessful. Dr. Lebovic wanted to try other oral medications that have proven successful with PCOS patients, specifically Letrozole. We tried multiple doses of Letrozole and even combinations of Letrozole, Clomid, Tamoxifen over about 4 cycles. I was closely monitored via vaginal ultrasound during each cycle. Each cycle had its challenges including no response from the follicles, thinning of the lining, and random start cycles with continued medication. Only half of the cycles provided a positive response where we could try timed intercourse but, ultimately those were unsuccessful. Due to the fact that the medication was not providing consistent results Dr. Lebovic recommended our best option for success was IVF. He explained this process would offer a more controlled approach to the fertility process which is what we were struggling with. Dr. Lebovic explained the process, risks and potential outcomes, and we agreed this was our best option moving forward. During the IVF cycle i took Follistim, Menopur, Leuprolide, Ganerelix, Novarel, and Progesterone, all of which are injectable medications. The purpose of each medication was explained to us so we knew what to expect. I underwent the retrieval process and then a fresh day 5 embryo transfer. The remaining embryos were frozen. A couple weeks later we had a confirmed pregnancy.
Describe your experience with your nurse at Washington University School of Medicine. (Assigned nurse: Kate)
Kate was fantastic. She was a calming voice thru the entire process. She responded promptly to any MyChart questions I had. She effectively explained the results and next steps with the medications. She was compassionate and I truly felt like she cared about us and we were not just names on a chart. After our positive pregnancy results and we “graduated” to my primary OB, Kate was there to congratulate us and encouraged us to stay in touch.

Describe Dan Lebovic's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Washington University School of Medicine.

The progesterone is oil shots are intramuscular injections and can be painful. The document we went home with stating ways to make the shots more tolerable said do not massage the area after the shot. My nurse coordinator told me yes, do massage the area to dissipate the medication and that they recommend it. We massaged the area and everything was fine.

I have to say that the cost is nothing if you are able to get the positive results. I wish more insurance covered this amazing service. I think that people deserve this kind of medical attention and treatment if needed. Everyone should have access to infertility care.
Dr. Lebovic is very educated and a great resource for everything relating to infertility. He does not sugarcoat the truth. Most likely if Dr. Lebovic was not as direct with my maternal age in relation to a diminishing quality of eggs down the road, I would still be toying with doing IVF and maybe would not have gotten as positive of an outcome if he hadn’t said it like it was...He has a caring attitude and wants the best for each patient.
They [Washington University School of Medicine] know what they are doing. They are a well-oiled machine. I loved that all of my treatments were handled in the same office and the office ran like clockwork. I never had to wait too long for any appointment. Describe your experience with your monitoring appointments at Washington University School of Medicine.
It was very easy to make appointments when I needed them to be.
Dr. Omurtag is extremely knowledgeable about infertility and fertility treatment. He has thoroughly explained everything we can expect with both IUI and IVF-down to the timing of ultrasounds and bloodwork. He is personable to talk to and we look forward to working with him more. My one disappointment is that we have only met him virtually up to this point-he has not been the one to perform any tests or procedures.
Could have a little more personal attention-don't see the doctor [at Washington University School of Medicine] often; my miscarriage was not added to my records so my doctor didn't know about it during our most recent appointment...never waiting to be seen for more than a few minutes, which to me is so important when having to go for visits often...friendly, caring and can answer every question I throw out at them. Someone has answered the phone every time I've called-I've never waited on hold. And they respond to virtual messages very quickly.

During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Kenan Omurtag at Washington University School of Medicine?
I haven't yet met Dr. Omurtag in person but have had two telehealth visits that have been pleasant and informative. His staff is wonderful-kind, caring, efficient, great at communicating. But I was a little disappointed that he was not the one to perform my IUI cycle follicle scan or the IUI itself. If that is the standard practice, that is more than fine, that just wasn't communicated to me.
Describe the protocols Kenan Omurtag used in your cycles at Washington University School of Medicine and their degree of success.
I have had one IUI so far with Dr. Omurtag. I did two previous IUIs with my OB where I was on 50mg of Clomid, so he upped my dose to 100mg to see if that would have a better outcome. The other IUI protocol was standard- follicle scan on day 12 and based on that scan, I triggred with Ovidrel that night for the IUI on CD14. The IUI failed but he was very clear about the low success rates with IUIs. We just had our IVF consultation and he was clear down to the days of the week I'd come in for monitoring. I believe I will have the standard protocol of medication due to unexplained infertility, good sperm, good AMH levels and consistently good follicle counts.
Describe your experience with your nurse at Washington University School of Medicine. (Assigned nurse: Kim)
The entire staff that I have interacted with at the clinic has been amazing. I am never waiting to be seen for more than a few minutes, which to me is so important when having to go for visits often. They are friendly, caring and can answer every question I throw out at them. Someone has answered the phone every time I've called-I've never waited on hold. And they respond to virtual messages very quickly. When I found out I'd have to switch to Wash U for insurance, I was originally told I'd have to wait five months to be seen, which was devastating. But when I called the following week to set up the appointment, they were able to fit me in just three days later. I will always appreciate that.

Before I met my deductible, the cost of ultrasounds and diagnostics did seem higher than my first clinic.

Describe the specific things that went wrong at Washington University School of Medicine.
When I went for a follicle scan, I was asked about previous pregnancies after having a miscarriage the month prior. Before that, I had spoken with my nurse to inform her of the miscarriage and ask about next steps (I saw my OB for the entire pregnancy). The miscarriage was not noted on my chart and so my doctor didn't know about it when we had our IVF consultation. It won't change our protocol much but that is a crucial piece of information that was missed.
My experience with Dr. Omurtag has been outstanding...he has made sure that all of our questions have been answered and explains everything very thoroughly. He also allows me to be an active participant in my care...He can also speak to research/data which is important because he is able to provide an explanation as to why abc will work and xyz won’t. While I wish I didn’t have to see Dr. Omurtag, I can’t imagine using any other physician for infertility.
My [Washington University School of Medicine - St. Louis] clinic is very organized and communicates promptly. The staff is extremely friendly and I’m always greeted by name when checking in with reception. The clinic is associated with a teaching hospital, so I’ve found they don’t really offer treatments that don’t have much backing by research. They are however willing to refer you somewhere else to get those treatments if you so wish.
How was your experience with Kenan Omurtag at Washington University School of Medicine?
My experience with Dr. Omurtag has been outstanding. He truly understands that infertility affects many aspects of a patients life and acknowledges it as well. Each time my husband and I have met with Dr. Omurtag he has made sure that all of our questions have been answered and explains everything very thoroughly. He also allows me to be an active participant in my care, and has never told me yes/no without looking through my chart to determine what is the best course of action. He can also speak to research/data which is important because he is able to provide an explanation as to why abc will work and xyz won’t. Every time I’ve gone to my clinic I’m greeted by the receptionist by name. Anytime when working directly with Dr. Omurtag, he addresses both my husband and I by name and even asks about our toddler. I always feel I have ample time to ask any questions I have and never feel rushed.
Describe the protocols Kenan Omurtag used in your cycles at Washington University School of Medicine and their degree of success.
If I remember correctly, we used an antagonist cycle for my first egg retrieval. Based on my labs and antral follicle count, he thought I would respond well to that protocol, and I did. We then did a fresh transfer that resulted in a chemical pregnancy, so we ran more labs and found out I may have APS. Due to the possible APS diagnosis, we added in a blood thinner (lovenox) and a baby aspirin to my frozen embryo transfer protocol. Sadly that transfer ended in an ectopic pregnancy. We’re currently waiting for my cycle to do some more testing prior to starting another egg retrieval cycle.

I have nothing but good things to say about the nursing staff at my clinic. My primary nurse is Kathy, but I have worked with others as well. They are all very caring and have called to check in after different procedures. They are extremely communicative as well, I have never waited more than a few hours for a response to my questions through mychart.

Describe Kenan Omurtag's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Washington University School of Medicine.
Due to my age/my husband’s age and our diagnosis, we will only transfer one egg/transfer.

How was your experience with Kenan Omurtag at Washington University School of Medicine?
We have only met with Dr. Omurtag once at the beginning of our journey. He was down to earth, easy to have a conversation with and honest about possible outcomes. He was hopeful and positive and made me feel comfortable. Unfortunately our IVF cycle was not successful and we need to try again. We meet with Dr. Omurtag again next week.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Kenan Omurtag at Washington University School of Medicine?
Any person going through fertility treatments I would say be patient and know your journey may follow a different path that what you expected. I was naive and thought I would have multiple chances of having a child through one IVF cycle but the sad reality was we only got one embryo.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Kenan Omurtag at Washington University School of Medicine?
Everyone at the office has been extremely kind and patient with us. They have walked us through every step of the way. Before my trigger shot one of the nurses was on the phone with me for 45 minutes to make sure I completely understood all of the medicine and instructions. I get overwhelmed easily with doctors and don’t always feel comfortable asking questions to better understand. However with this office they have always made me feel comfortable, gone above and beyond to educate me and assist me along the way. Everyone in the office has been kind, helpful and happy.
Describe the protocols Kenan Omurtag used in your cycles at Washington University School of Medicine and their degree of success.
We used an agonist protocol.
The medicine listed below were what I was prescribed.
Gonal-F 900 units pen - 2 pens
Menopur 75 units - 10 vials
Ganerelix 250 mcg injection - 6 boxes
Leuprolide trigger shot - 1 shot (the pharmacy may send a 2 week kit in place of the single shot)
Novarel 5,000 unit injection - 2 box/es
Birth control pills 1 pack
I only went through the egg retrieval process as my wife and I are doing reciprocal IVF so she will be the one to carry the baby.
I produced 8 eggs at the time of retrieval. Out of those 8 only 5 made it to where they could be fertilized. They attempted to fertilize my eggs with two different methods. One where they sprinkle sperm by the egg and the sperm swim to the egg to fertilize it and the other was to inject the sperm right into the egg. I only had one embryo form and it was from the first method.

My insurance did not cover fertility.
Medication was around $2500 for my part. We paid around 7,000 for the egg retrieval itself.
We have paid around $20,000 from start to finish.
They were upfront about the cost and mailed out an informational sheet that explained everything. We met with the financial team to get cleared before we started.

This was super easy. We used California Cryo Bank. We called them and asked for our donor sperm to be sent to Wash U and Wash U confirmed the order with us.

[Washington University School of Medicine is] Very quick at getting back to you. Willing to answer questions. All the staff is great to work with from nursing, ultrasound, lab, doctors operating room and everyone in between. They always try to work around my work schedule so I am not missing to much work for my lab/ultrasound appointments since its 3 hours of driving for me for a 20 minute appointment and that is appreciated

She has listed to all of my concerns in this difficult time, she has answered all of my questions. She has strived to make me and my spouse feel comfortable thru the entire process and every cycle answering the same questions every cycle.
Describe the protocols Patricia Jimenez used in your cycles at Washington University School of Medicine and their degree of success.
She used the slow meds process with the 21 days of birth control followed by about 9 days of lupron about a week of stimulation drugs and the trigger shot. Since I only have 1 ovary and don't actually have a period we wanted to do a cycle that my body could react better to. we had 2 very successful retrievals so far and are hoping for the same with the third. My body has responded well to the first 2 with minimal side effects.

Very quick at getting back to you.
Describe the costs associated with your care under Patricia Jimenez at Washington University School of Medicine.
My insurance covered a portion of this so I had to pay for the medications and genetic testing of embryos, freezing of embryos and husbands costs as well as copays. Unsure of total costs
Describe Patricia Jimenez's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Washington University School of Medicine.
We did genetic testing on our embryos to rule out as many issues as we could and to eliminate more stress on our future carrier with all of the meds and possible failed transfers with not so great embryos. With tested embryos there is a higher chance to split so doing a DET vs SET is not an option for us so we really never discussed it with our Dr due to the unsafe nature of it on our carrier or babies.
What specific things went wrong at Washington University School of Medicine?
Lost appointments
Describe the specific things that went wrong at Washington University School of Medicine.
Just a mix up in if appointment was a lab only appointment or lab and ultrasound appointment so I had to wait a little longer then normal.
Dr Omurtag is knowledgeable and compassionate. He has a great bedside manner...he was always available for questions and explained everything in great detail. He was upfront about possible out of pocket costs and wanted to make sure we were prepared. He is a very visual person and likes to draw pictures to help you understand. But he really felt more like you were talking to a friend than a doctor...He does follow ASRM guidelines very strictly so if you are someone that wants to transfer more than one at a time. This may not be the place for you...
The clinic [Washington University School of Medicine] itself does not feel very personable, it’s a clinic within a very busy medical school/hospital system so they see A LOT of patients. Hard for them to get to know anyone. They do have a lot of fellows that you may see throughout your appointments and they are very friendly...They didn’t seem to read the doctors past notes. At one point I had a hysteroscopy and was scheduled to do an IUI the following week. They didn’t call in my clomid so I had to call and ask for it and the nurse was confused because she didn’t realize I was also doing an IUI...

Describe the protocols Kenan Omurtag used in your cycles at Washington University School of Medicine and their degree of success.
I did an HSG before starting anything. Then multiple clomid IUI cycles. Had to do a hysteroscopy with dilation due to difficulty getting the IUI catheter through my cervix. Then moved on to IVF. We did a long agonist protocol, with a fresh transfer which failed. So then did an endosee procedure. Then a frozen transfer than failed. And most recently transferred our last frozen embryo that stuck! For the frozen transfers he ordered estradiol three times a day and PIO daily.

Kathy didn’t always seem very compassionate, I don’t think she likes talking on the phone.

IUIs were 500 without insurance. But 50 with it.
A cycle with Egg retrieval and fresh transfer was 15-20k without insurance. I think I paid about 2k
A frozen transfer without insurance was 4700 but with insurance was 200
Describe Kenan Omurtag's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Washington University School of Medicine.
They follow ASRM guidelines so they will not do an elective multiple embryo transfer unless there is a good medical reason to do so.

They didn’t seem to read the doctors past notes.
At one point I had a hysteroscopy and was scheduled to do an IUI the following week. They didn’t call in my clomid so I had to call and ask for it and the nurse was confused because she didn’t realize I was also doing an IUI.
They also didn’t seem to believe me when I told them there were problems with my cervix in the past and said we would assess it after the first IUI. Thankfully my doctor took care of this pretty quickly after that first IUI.

I felt like Dr. Omurtag really took the time to address mine and my husbands concerns. He guided us through the entire process and was available any time we had questions. I felt like he was well prepared and knew my history well prior to the initial consultation. When I found out I was pregnant without intervention, he did not hesitate to keep me on for the initial part of my pregnancy to monitor and ensure a warm handoff to my primary OB.
Describe the protocols Kenan Omurtag used in your cycles at Washington University School of Medicine and their degree of success.
Initially we ran lab tests and SHS to rule out any underlying causes of recurrent pregnancy loss. I happened to get pregnant spontaneously after these were completed. If I hadn’t become pregnant, the next step was IUI for 3 cycles. If those were to be unsuccessful, then I would have met with Dr. Omurtag again to discuss other options.

He [Dr. Kenan Omurtag] is very personable and easy to talk to. Speaks to us like peers...was booked out for months for an initial consultation when we saw him but we are so glad we waited...We used a natural cycle- frozen embryo transfer. Nurse Kim [at Washington University School of Medicine] was very responsive and answered my questions in a timely manner. The nursing staff were all very compassionate and good at their job...Great coordinated care, reputable institution, competitive fees. I was pleased with the communication between staff and with me. Being on a natural cycle/FET meant that my appointments had to be timely, and they were. I can’t think of weaknesses at this time.
How was your experience with Kenan Omurtag at Washington University School of Medicine?
As my OB stated, “Dr Omurtag practices smart medicine”. My husband and I saw him for a 2nd opinion when our previous RE thought that I may have immunological factors preventing me from having a successful pregnancy and stated I may need a surrogate. After our consultation with Dr Omurtag, we knew that we were in very competent hands and trusted his treatment plan. Under his care, we became pregnant with our first embryo transfer and now have a beautiful and healthy 6 month old daughter. We are so grateful to Dr Omurtag and his team and look forward to seeing them again to expand our family.

Dr. Ratts was very knowledgeable, understanding, communicative, and ambitious with the treatment for that. After finally achieving a thick enough lining to schedule an FET, we became pregnant. Tragically I miscarried at about 9 weeks. Dr. Ratts called me personally on a Friday evening when she found out to offer what I could tell were her sincere condolences. I will never forget that. We are currently in our 2ww after transferring our last embryo. Regardless of the result, I believe she is an amazing doctor.
Very kind people work there [at Washington University School of Medicine]. Very flexible with scheduling. Very responsive to all our questions. He [Dr. Kenan Omurtag] was knowledgeable and willing to listen to what I wanted to do rather than what he believed would be the best course of action. He had a game plan for me ready and I was not as up for jumping straight to IUI, and when I said so, he was agreeable and was more than happy to start small and go big if we needed to. I really appreciated that. Just to be listened to and validated.
They [Washington University School of Medicine] are great at making you feel welcome. The ambiance of the clinic when you walk in is relaxed and has an open waiting area with relaxing lighting, and everyone always has smiles on their faces. I would highly recommend this clinic to anyone needing fertility help...The nurses went above and beyond. They were wonderful, kind, and took the time to explain everything in great detail so I had informed and knowledgeable consent on everything they were doing. They even went as far to as me if I had any sexual traumas that they needed to be aware of to better care for me. That was exceptional care in my opinion.

I was always ask permission before anything was done on me. His nurses even inquired if I have had any past sexual traumas that they should be aware of to better care for me. While I do not, that made me very happy that they cared enough to ask before proceeding with any physical exams.

We tried one round of letrazol (because clomid had not worked in the past before I decided to see fertility assistance) without trigger injection to see if I would ovulate naturally. We kept an eye on my follicle growth and uterus lining to make sure everything was good and going as planned. I failed to ovulate on my own as well as my eggs did not mature as fast as they needed to so our next cycle we upped the letrazol and added the trigger shot. That was just what my body needed to get my eggs to where they needed to be and my ovary to release it! Doc wanted to jump straight to IUI since I was still young and had a good ovarian reserve. But I decided I wanted to try a more conservative method first (well aware that I may have ended up having to do IUI, but willing to take the risk) and I am very glad I did. We fell pregnant the second round. I was on low dose baby aspirin and injectable aspirin once a day from confirmed pregnancy blood work, until 6 weeks after her birth. And it was worth every penny, stick, poke, and cry. I have a beautiful baby girl who is now 4 months old.

Describe the costs associated with your care under Kenan Omurtag at Washington University School of Medicine.
My care was almost all covered by my insurance because most of the things I needed were diagnostic testing which was cover by my healthcare provider. The only excluded items were milage (I live 3 hours away), my trigger shot injection ($100-130 depending on if you paid with cash) and the letrazol which was less than $15 a round, and my co-pay which was $30. It would have been more had I chose to go the IUI route (which my insurance does not cover), but financially a trigger shot and timed intercourse was the best route for me. All of the above payments were also reimbursed to me VIA HSA/FSA plan as well.

How was your experience with Kenan Omurtag at Washington University School of Medicine?
Any procedure Dr.Omurtag has performed on me was so much more tolerable than previous ones I’ve had with other doctors.
Saline sonogram- Dr. Omurtag walked me through everything he made me feel comfortable. Since I’ve had this procedure before at a different clinic, I was very nervous because it was extremely painful before. However, when Dr. Omurtag did the saline sonogram it was such a different experience. The procedure was really quick and nowhere near as painful as it was the first time.
Hysteroscopy- Dr. Omurtag was so informative. He walked me through everything he was doing before he did it. He was so reassuring and confident. The procedure was not as bad as I thought it was going to be. It was very bearable.
IVF- Dr. Omurtag recommended a fresh embryo transfer, so that is what we did. He wanted to make sure that I didn’t get OHSS since I had around 40 follicles at baseline. Thankfully my ovaries responded well to the medication and we retrieved 20 eggs, 18 were mature and 12 fertilized. We transferred 1 4AA embryo and 7 made it to blast to be frozen.
I really can’t say enough nice things about Dr.Omurtag. He is very confident and I love that about him. He gives you all of the information needed to make the best decision for yourself.

I did a fresh embryo cycle using the antogonist protocol. I have unexplained infertility,<35 and have a normal amh, Dr. Omurtag felt that would be the best option for me. I have PCOS, so Dr. Omurtag, didn’t want me to get OHSS so he kept my dosages at an appropriate level and thankfully I did not get OHSS. I had 18 mature eggs, so since I have unexplained infertility, we wanted to see if maybe there was a fertilization issue so we split the eggs. 9 were inseminated with icsi and 9 were inseminated with conventional ivf. 5 fertilized eggs resulted from icsi and 7 fertilized eggs resulted from conventional ivf. The 4AA embryo we transferred was a result of conventional ivf.

I did four rounds of IUI with Clomid. One was a failed cycle because we missed my ovulation. After that the clinic monitored me much more closely and we completed three rounds. The first resulted in a chemical pregnancy and the remaining two were unsuccessful. We were planning to do a long agonist IVF protocol as our next step but conceived spontaneously while waiting for our genetic screening results to come back.

Dr. Omurtag’s practical and matter-of-fact approach was exactly what we needed as a dual military couple...We really only interacted with him about 4x. 2x for the consults, 1x for the egg retrieval, and the last to confirm our pregnancy at 9 weeks. I chatted with his team of nurses much more than him...My only criticism is I wish I would have known that a baseline appt could ‘fail’ (I had a cyst on one of my follicles and I wasn’t able to proceed with injectable’s). I heard from his nurse - and it would have been nice to know that that was a possibility but also to hear it from him...

What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Kenan Omurtag at Washington University School of Medicine?
Expectation management. If he’s confident you’re going to respond well know that you’ll hear from his team moreso than him. My approach to that was that more women needed his attention due to their diagnosis/protocol than we did.

I was on an antagonist protocol which seemed like the most feasible due to my high AMH and very regular periods (no PCOS/endometriosis).
Was in birth control to calm everything before my baseline.

Wow. I cannot put into words how grateful and pleased my husband and I were with Dr. Omurtag...You will probably not see Dr. Omurtag too often during appointments, but he is always aware of what is happening with your treatment and procedures and will gladly return any calls and questions. He is energetic, conscientious, forthcoming, and compassionate...recommended ICSI with IVF (fresh cycle) annd to transfer 2 embryos and we agreed with his recommendations.
The [Washington University School of Medicine] staff is always pleasant and they see you quickly. Everyone is professional and the clinic is clean. I cannot think of any weaknesses minus the lobby is a little outdated, but I’d rather them continue to provide excellent medical care than renovate their lobby for aesthetics. The team is friendly and you can always reach someone by phone or through MyChart where you can send messages. My messages never went more than 12 hours without a response. The team also gave us options for billing and IVF packages.
How was your experience with Kenan Omurtag at Washington University School of Medicine?
Wow. I cannot put into words how grateful and pleased my husband and I were with Dr. Omurtag and his staff. My husband and I interviewed several doctors before deciding on moving forward with the team of professional at Wash U and Dr. Omurtag and we definitely made the right decision. We transferred 2 embryos which resulted in our beautiful twin girls. I am considered a geriatric mom at 40 years old and we did not feel our chances of having a baby were great, especially since we had been trying to conceive for over a decade. Dr. Omurtag was able to identify both male factor and female factor infertility and removal of fibroids. We decided upon IVF with ICSI.
The communication and dedication to our ivf process was so much better than we could have ever imagined. Dr. Omurtag, Jessie, and Kathy were all truly remarkable and explained every detail of our procedure. They were prompt with answering questions and concerns. IVF is such an emotional process and we felt truly taken care of and in the best hands. Our plan and treatment happened on time and as planned. We conceived our twin girls the first time going through IVF and still have embryos for the future.
If you are considering IVF or just need a consultation, I highly recommend Dr. Omurtag and Wash U. Good luck to all of you future parents!

While he [Dr. Omurtag] was always straightforward, it was never indifferent or cold. His manner and encouragement was so appreciated during such a stressful time...He is very thorough and wants to have all the information before presenting the best options customized for you. Be prepared for a variety of tests for both you and your partner...Recalls details of previous discussions...about 6 months of trying to conceive without success, Dr Omurtag then requested my partner be evaluated and placed me on letrozole. Luckily this only required one cycle to conceive

Facility had an easy off campus location in CWE with parking so no worries about navigating through Barnes campus...Responded to messaged questions within hours and test results always same day...team walked me through home testing and lab work thereafter ever step of the way...Such a wonderful and supportive experience...

Following several tests to evaluate my fertility r/t age, adjustments to my medications, and the addition of home ovulations tests, and about 6 months of trying to conceive without success, Dr Omurtag then requested my partner be evaluated and placed me on letrozole. Luckily this only required one cycle to conceive. His team walked me through home testing and lab work thereafter ever step of the way. I had an ultrasound at 6 weeks and again at 7 weeks prior to him releasing me back to my OB for care. Such a wonderful and supportive experience. Hopefully will not have to return but 10/10 recommend!

Dr. Omurtag was so Personable every time I saw him. Talked and make me feel comfortable every time I saw him...He is so kind and compassionate! Had a wonderful experience from my first time meeting him in the office to be evaluated and explained everything in a way we could understand why we weren’t get pregnant on our own. Always told us risks and numbers of our chances.
I didn’t notice any weakness [at Washington University School of Medicine]. Everyone knew what they were doing and was on the same page...I do Wish Dr. Omurtag was able to do my transfers personally, but Dr. Keller did an amazing job and I felt at peace having her do it as well! All the lab techs that drew my blood were excellent as well!

Overall, he [Dr. Kenan Omurtag] is a good and nice person. He seems to be very knowledgeable in the field. I think he wasn’t as aggressive as I wanted to be. It took two failed transfers to get there which was a lot to go through emotionally and financially to get there...advocate for yourself. If the clinic has done something wrong to tell him because he won’t know. If it doesn’t work the first round, don’t keep doing the same thing.
I like how they [Washington University School of Medicine] don’t sync everyone and only do retrievals and transfers one week a month. A weakness would probably be because of this your personal dr will not be doing your procedures...I had a few issues with the clinic (medical and administrative issues) and once I brought them up to the dr personally, I was given more attention.

I did 2 transfers with only one embryo. His rational was the technique was good enough that it would work. I had a miscarriage and then a negative result the second time. Then it was like maybe two is appropriate the next time. I wanted to do the second time and wished I would have pushed it.
