Success w/ Doc Too early to know
Due to male factor infertility, [Dr. Adam Fechner] cautioned us that less invasive techniques such as IUIs may not be successful, but he was willing to try prior to moving onto IVF. He put me on letrozole as opposed to Clomid for all 3 IUI cycles as he noticed I have a tendency to make a lot of eggs...He also recommended we seek out a second opinion for my husband with a reproductive urologist...
The clinic [University Reproductive Associates] doesn’t have the same factory feel that other larger clinics do. Monitoring doesn’t take forever and you don't have to travel far from your home clinic on a weekend or holiday. You’re almost always monitored by a doctor, and being that there aren’t many in the practice, you can develop a rapport with them. The downside to it being a smaller practice is monitoring hours are only from 7-8am.
How was your experience with Adam Fechner at University Reproductive Associates (New Jersey Medical School)?
Dr. Fechner is a personable and empathetic provider whose goal is to ultimately help couples build their family. He’s respectful of the overall timeline of fertility treatments and works in a way to make sure there’s no “wasted” time between cycles/treatment planning, etc.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Adam Fechner at University Reproductive Associates (New Jersey Medical School)?
Understand that his goal is to help you build your family in the quickest and safest way possible.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Adam Fechner at University Reproductive Associates (New Jersey Medical School)?
Dr. Fechner always greets ANY patients he walks past in the clinic (even before 7am when coming in for morning monitoring). He is punctual and respectful of my time, and is empathetic. During office visits he not only discusses treatment/planning but expresses interest in your life outside of trying to make a baby.
Describe the protocols Adam Fechner used in your cycles at University Reproductive Associates (New Jersey Medical School) and their degree of success.
Due to male factor infertility, Dr. Fechner cautioned us that less invasive techniques such as IUIs may not be successful, but he was willing to try prior to moving onto IVF. He put me on letrozole as opposed to Clomid for all 3 IUI cycles as he noticed I have a tendency to make a lot of eggs. He was concerned the clomid would result in me making too many, forcing us to cancel a cycle and putting me at risk for developing cysts. Being on the letrozole I developed 1-2 mature follicles each cycle with no side effects. He also recommended we seek out a second opinion for my husband with a reproductive urologist. My husband’s first urologist wanted to remove a varicocele, which Dr. Fechner believed may not help improve his sperm quality. The reproductive urologist agreed and we are currently awaiting a follow up visit to discuss our options moving forward
Describe your experience with your nurse at University Reproductive Associates (New Jersey Medical School). (Assigned nurse: Vickie)
Vickie is empathetic and thorough in her explanations of testing/treatments. She’s also relatable having gone through fertility treatments herself. The rest of the nursing staff is also approachable and willing to answer any questions

Dr. Fechner covered all the treatment options in details and was very honest about my chances of conceiving. Having that information helped me prepare for the ups and downs of the process. I was able to reach him with any questions I had about my treatment...All of my questions were answered and different treatment options were highly suggested to maximize my chances of conceiving.
Overall the clinic [University Reproductive Associates] is great but morning monitoring was not the best due to the long wait. I think morning monitoring should start earlier since it gets crowded and most people have to go to work afterwards...She [nurse] was always reachable either by phone or email. She always make sure that my medications were called weeks prior of me starting my treatment which allowed me time to get to know all the medications that I will be starting. The nurses would provide details instructions on the portal or voicemail were you would not need to call for clarification.

Describe Adam Fechner's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at University Reproductive Associates (New Jersey Medical School).
I only had one embryo that was considered to be viable after Preimplantation Genetic Screening( PGS). So I had no choice but to have single embryo transfer.

Dr Fechner listened to our history of challenges we faced through our IVF journey. He took that into consideration along the way. We put our trust in his clinical judgement and never felt uncomfortable with decisions that were made. We have nothing negative to say...He talks fast, but he covers a lot of necessary information.
Morning monitoring was easy and went smoothly [at University Reproductive Associates]. Rarely had to wait long. All the instructions left on voicemail could also be found via their portal which is very easy to use. With this clinical as with all Clinics you need to stay on top of your checklist...We participated in the assured refund plan with the donor bank. We paid the bank and the bank reimbursement the clinic. Morning monitor was standard fees

We used frozen donor eggs. Lupron was used, estrace, progesterone. We had one embryo that made it to day 7. We repeated the cycle to transfer the embryo on day 5 (as we had a successful transfer from on day 5 in the past) and we had a positive pregnancy test.

Success w/ Doc Too early to know
Dr. Fechner is absolutely a great doctor. Only downside is we see the doctor on call for morning ultrasound and blood work. It's difficult to explain to every doctor what is going on and how to proceed with procedures...treats me with respect. He makes you feel comfortable and makes sure you understands everything you need to know...you'll only see your primary doctor only if they are on call that day or you schedule your appointment specifically with them.
[University Reproductive Associates clinic] Strength- very organized and have great time management. The clinic is very clean and comfortable. Weakness- their elevator gives me high anxiety because it makes loud noises when moving. But other then that clinic is great...[nursing staff] They are very nice but when doing follow up calls they aren't consistent with information received from doctor.

Fechner is very flexible and considerate. At the same time , he appears to be little less experienced... He has good bed side manner. Very polite. He does consider your issues and He’s flexible to change the treatment plan. I haven’t seen a better communicator like him. Very respectful as well. He is very competent in the work he does.... We Did two transfers but both failed. He considered doing iui as we requested
Doctors [at U Repro Associates] are good. Nurses are not very knowledgeable in comparison to other clinics.... Nurses seems more like technician and not RN.... They do rush in giving instructions and not full explaining the results of blood work... Finance does need to be reviewed carefully... Fechner is very flexible and considerate....
