Success w/ Doc Too early to know
I feel like Dr. Kaser went out of his way to check on me as a patient. When think didn't go as expected, he had a new plan and reasoning behind it. He followed up with phone calls and it always felt that he cared. My only criticism is really not a bad one. Due to scheduling, I wasn't an to see Dr. Kaser from all of my procedures. That allowed me to see a team of 3 doctors, Dr. Morin and Dr. Kort as well...
RMA NorCal has a team of 3 doctors and a large support staff. I also saw 4 different nurse practitioners during ultrasound monitoring at the SF location. Since there are 2 locations and only 3 doctors, your main doctor might not always do all your procedures. They use a messaging app called Spruce that allows for great communication...The nursing team was very compassionate and organized. What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Daniel Kaser at RMA of Northern California?
Listen, but also ask questions. He's great at answering.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Daniel Kaser at RMA of Northern California?
Dr. Kaser and the other RMA doctors and staff are some of the kindest people I have encountered as a patient. Dr. Kaser is particularly caring, warm, realistic, but always encouraging and optimistic. He genuinely wants the best for his patients.
Describe the protocols Daniel Kaser used in your cycles at RMA of Northern California and their degree of success.
My first cycle was a moderate to high dose antagonist protocol of 300 FSH, 2 vials of Menopur, Cetrotide antagonist, and Pregnyl trigger. Cycle 2 was a letrozole flare with a lower dose of FSH. These two protocols did not work well for me, so the next cycle I did a clomid flare with a ovidrel and Lupron trigger. Some people respond differently to the medication than others. He also recommended an ERA before transfer since I have only a few embryos.
Describe your experience with your nurse at RMA of Northern California. (Assigned nurse: Nancy)
The nursing team was very compassionate and organized. They have a great system, are efficient, are friendly, and have good follow through. There was a little confusion about my medication once (doctor said one thing and nurse said something else) but overall the nursing team is great.

Describe Daniel Kaser's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at RMA of Northern California.
They recommend a single embryo transfer for PGT normal embryo. They informed me of the risks related to multiple transferred and that single people transfer has just as good results.
What specific things went wrong at RMA of Northern California?
  • Provided conflicting information
Describe the specific things that went wrong at RMA of Northern California.
When my protocol changed for cycles to cycle, sometimes my nurse wasn't fully aware of the change.

You really couldn't ask for a more kind, compassionate, thoughtful physician than Dr. Kaser. He was truly engaged in my care and invested in my outcome. Dr. Kaser is thoughtful in his communication and really takes his time to explain every detail of treatment so I always knew what to expect next....I will never forget the day he called me with positive pregnancy test results! I'm pretty sure he was even more excited than I was! (I was still shocked!) I am so grateful for Dr. Kaser!
The clinic itself is beautiful and easily accessible. Everything is clean, fresh, and the equipment feels state-of-the-art. I have reason to believe their IVF is top-notch as I had better results at RMA of Northern California in my 30s than I did as a younger IVF patient elsewhere in my 20s. They have a screen in the transfer room that gives you a live feed of your embryo being prepped before your transfer. I've done a lot of transfers elsewhere, and I had never seen anything like that before!

Dr. Kaser is thoughtful in his communication and really takes his time to explain every detail of treatment so I always knew what to expect next. He never rushed me in my appointments and gave me ample time to ask questions. Part of my treatment plan included a procedure that was both physically painful and emotionally distressing for me. Dr. Kaser took his time before, after, and during the procedure to make sure I was ready, to check-in with me, and to support me as I recovered my composure after. He gave me choices ("do you want to keep going or stop?") and respected my autonomy and decision making. He gave me the information I needed to make informed choices & was willing to listen to my ideas as we made treatment decisions. I will never forget the day he called me with positive pregnancy test results! I'm pretty sure he was even more excited than I was! (I was still shocked!) I am so grateful for Dr. Kaser!
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Daniel Kaser at RMA of Northern California?
Don't be afraid to ask questions, he is more than happy to explain his thought-process. He'll take his time to make sure you fully understand and are comfortable moving forward.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Daniel Kaser at RMA of Northern California?
Dr. Kaser was incredibly engaged in my care from start to finish. He was always responsive to my questions via their messaging app. It's a little thing - but I really appreciated how he would send emoji's in the app with his messages (a smiley face, etc), it made me feel like I was chatting with a real person (and I was!). Dr. Kaser always greeted me by my full name and made me feel welcomed in the clinic.
Describe your experience with the nursing staff at RMA of Northern California.
While I didn't see the nursing staff frequently in the clinic, I had a lot of communication with them over the messaging app. They were quick to answer questions, send over prescription refills, and make sure I had orders ready for outside monitoring etc. There is some overlap between the clinic nurses and the Pre-op/PACU nurses who take care of you if you have a retrieval or surgery, which I think is really nice for continuity of care!

My partner and I love that we were able to see the embryo being prepared in real time and not just a photo like at other clinics. (Of course, they also provided a print of the embryo, which I think is a lovely keepsake.)

He [Dr. Kaser] was considerate, thorough, responsive, and made us feel like he not only knew what he was doing, he was invested in our outcome...He explained things succinctly and clearly, and was always open to my questions...His support made it possible for us to try again with a different treatment regimen. RMA in Silicon Valley is wonderful. While Dan was my primary doctor, I also had great interactions with Jonathan and Scott. It was great for us to work with a clinic that had a small handful of doctors so we could get to know them but also have more flexibility if we needed to schedule something when my primary doctor was unavailable (which was rare)...[nurses are] Friendly, extremely competent, loved getting to know them a bit every time I came in for injections/checks...
How was your experience with Daniel Kaser at RMA of Northern California?
My partner and I had been working with a different clinic that wasn't a good match for us-- there had been delays to our treatment we didn't understand, we were always seeing different doctors. Dan Kaser at RMA was recommended to me by a good friend, and my partner and I found him to be the exact right match for us. He was considerate, thorough, responsive, and made us feel like he not only knew what he was doing, he was invested in our outcome. Our prognosis was good for our first round of IVF, however we experienced a set-back when I broke through the ovulation-delaying medication and all my eggs released before the retrieval. It was heartbreaking to have such an unexpected outcome at that early stage. It felt to us like Dan was on our team though, and he gave us hope. His support made it possible for us to try again with a different treatment regimen. That second round was successful for us, and we ended up with three viable embryos-- one of which was successfully transferred. Our baby was born one week ago today!
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Daniel Kaser at RMA of Northern California?
He is really responsive and patient so make sure to ask him all the questions you have, don't feel like any question is off the table.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Daniel Kaser at RMA of Northern California?
Dan made me feel like a human because he was considerate, patient, and really present whenever we interacted. He explained things succinctly and clearly, and was always open to my questions. It felt like he was really invested in our success.

Dr. Kaser was wonderfully kind, knowledgable, and communicative. During the consultation, he quickly adapted to my level of medical literacy...and was able to explain things clearly and at the perfect level of detail...When messaging on Spruce, he responded exceptionally quickly (usually in minutes), and he seemed genuinely excited for me when the cycle had a really positive outcome...
All of the nurses and clinic staff [at RMA of Northern California] were awesome. Friendly, kind, caring, organized, prompt...Every time I reached out over Spruce, someone got back to me within minutes with the answer. Every person I interacted with was organized, competent, and kind. I never waited more than 10 minutes in the waiting room (usually less than 2 min) before being seen, and the facilities were top-of-the-line nice.
How was your experience with Daniel Kaser at RMA of Northern California?
I don't think I could have wished for a more competent and communicative physician. While I only got to see Dr. Kaser for the consultation (just the way the schedule worked out with him covering the SF clinic when I was down in Palo Alto, and vice versa), he was the one who usually answered my questions on Spruce (the messaging app), and the other providers I saw for the monitoring ultrasounds were lovely and had a good sense of what the plan was, so I would know when leaving the clinic what to expect for next steps. At my consultation, given the number of follicles on US, he explained clearly and kindly that there might be a reason to pursue workup for PCOS, which I had never thought/worried about before. The calm, accurate way he described why he thought I might have PCOS and what logical next steps would be to work it up with my PCP meant a lot, especially considering how surprised I was to get that news. Furthermore, the egg freezing cycle worked exceptionally well, with credit to him for planning and communicating such a successful strategy.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Daniel Kaser at RMA of Northern California?
Come prepared with questions! He'll give a thorough overview of the process, but I think the best way to take advantage of his encyclopedic knowledge/expertise is to spend some time thinking about what particular questions *you* have about the process so that you can devote time in the consultation to that.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Daniel Kaser at RMA of Northern California?
Dr. Kaser was wonderfully kind, knowledgable, and communicative. During the consultation, he quickly adapted to my level of medical literacy (I'm a medical student at the moment) and was able to explain things clearly and at the perfect level of detail. He asked specifically about my goals and motivations, any concerns I had, and ensured there was ample time for me to ask questions (of which I had plenty). When messaging on Spruce, he responded exceptionally quickly (usually in minutes), and he seemed genuinely excited for me when the cycle had a really positive outcome.
Describe the protocols Daniel Kaser used in your cycles at RMA of Northern California and their degree of success.
We used a standard antagonist protocol (Menopur + Gonal F for 6 days, then add Cetrotide on day 7), with a total of 12 days of stimulation. Menopur and Gonal F were both 150 to start, but Gonal F was upped to 225 when the Centrotide was added. Lupron trigger was used because I was high OHSS risk (lots of follicles, high AMH, very high estrodiol (~7000) by the end). Trigger (0.4 mL) was given 36 and 24 hours before retrieval, retrieval was on cycle day 15. Dr. Morin did the retrieval and got a whopping # of eggs (57!!), 49 of which were mature and frozen down.
Describe your experience with your nurse at RMA of Northern California. (Assigned nurse: Addie!)
All of the nurses and clinic staff were awesome. Friendly, kind, caring, organized, prompt. I'm sad I'm done in that I won't get to keep seeing them! Addie was the primary nurse I was assigned to, who was incredibly responsive and helpful. Meredith, an NP, did many of my monitoring ultrasounds and was also competent and kind. Katie, who did my blood draws, was a ray of sunshine. And Ashley, the PACU nurse who gave me a call the day after, was funny, kind, and made retrieval day a breeze. Everyone was a superstar!
Describe your experience with RMA of Northern California.
I did a TON of research before choosing RMA. I read every single review on here, Google, and Yelp of all the highest-rated clinics in the Bay Area before making my choice, which was informed by all the positive things that folks had to say about everyone who works there, from the physicians to the nurses to the staff, and I couldn't be happier with my choice, honestly. For a fast-moving process that can change quickly, having a clinic that EXCELS in communication (using Spruce, the messaging app) was a gift. Every time I reached out over Spruce, someone got back to me within minutes with the answer. Every person I interacted with was organized, competent, and kind. I never waited more than 10 minutes in the waiting room (usually less than 2 min) before being seen, and the facilities were top-of-the-line nice. While the reviewing system here is I think designed to somewhat penalize physicians who don't manage to see their patients every time they come for a visit, I think RMA's model (where you're assigned a primary physician who will see you if they are at the same office as you are that day; but there's a chance you could also see another physician or an NP if they are at the other office) works extremely well. With Dr. Kaser available over Spruce seemingly 24/7, I didn't mind seeing different providers for the monitoring appointments, especially because everyone was clued in to the plan. In addition, the team approach made me feel like I had access to a bunch of talented and kind people, not just one! And RMA is small enough (and their providers good enough) that everyone knew me/called me by name from the first visit to the last, so I very much felt known by and valued by their team. In addition, while I was willing to pay extra (none of this was covered by insurance, since it was elective and I have grad student insurance) for the best care, RMA ended up being *less* expensive than other top Bay Area clinics, so I feel like at the end of the day I got the best care AND at the best cost.
Describe the costs associated with your care under Daniel Kaser at RMA of Northern California.
I paid $11k out of pocket - $6.4 to RMA (with 20% discount because I work in healthcare), $650 to anesthesia, and $4k in meds (using Alto pharmacy). My insurance didn't cover any of it, so this was expected. I had planned $12k with a cushion up to $15, so coming in at $11 actually was slightly better than expected!

Dr. Kaser instantly made me feel like a human...clear he had reviewed my chart and knew both clinically relevant and personal information about me and my husband...started seeing him with a diagnosis of diminished ovarian reserve...took the time to evaluate whether that diagnosis was appropriate, explain what that really meant, and offer me hope. Any time we were waiting for results, he called me personally (even on his vacation/after hours). I never felt like a number, and I always felt like he really cared about me and our family goals.

You are in great hands...Dr. Kaser is the most compassionate, patient, warm and supportive physician I have ever met and I have been seen by a lot of physicians in my life. He never made us feel rushed and we never felt like just another couple trying to conceive. He is incredibly empathetic and we felt seen. I have anxiety and I ask a lot of questions, some of them are silly and redundant but he answered every one of them to my satisfaction. We felt we were in great hands.

Dr Kaiser helped us through the process of creating embryos to freeze for a gestational carrier. He was very helpful and exceeded expectations with how accessible he was with communication. He was also very familiar with the process for two gay men creating a family and made us feel at ease...Took time to explain processes with us.
The [RMA of Northern California] clinic was very clean and welcoming. The rooms for collection were clean and well kept. The blood donation area could have more comfortable seating. The donation chairs were very upright and felt a little precarious for someone who feints with donating blood...The nurses were very compassionate when I gave blood and started to feint. They were very responsive and prepared for the situation and made me feel safe.

Describe your experience with the nursing staff at RMA of Northern California.
The nurses were very compassionate when I gave blood and started to feint. They were very responsive and prepared for the situation and made me feel safe.
Describe your experience with RMA of Northern California.
The clinic was very clean and welcoming. The rooms for collection were clean and well kept. The blood donation area could have more comfortable seating. The donation chairs were very upright and felt a little precarious for someone who feints with donating blood.

In terms of patient experience and bedside manner, Dr Kaser was great - I would highly recommend him on those points. This might not have been his fault but it was extremely disappointing for me to retrieve only half of my follicles. In my scan, I had around 20 but only half of them were mature - I'm not sure if medication would have changed the numbers. But now I've only frozen 6...I was given the protocol that's given to 85% of patients my age - follistim and Menopur at night, and 3 days into the treatment, ganirelix in the morning. I had 3 days of birth control, then 2-3 days off (b/c the pharmacy didn't deliver my fertility drugs on time). I injected Lupron as my trigger shot. I had 8 days of injections and retrieved on 10th day. In the scans, I can see about 19 follicles - but in the end, only 9 were mature. I know 2-3 were too big and the rest were too small. I wish I had retrieved about 12.
Strengths [at Reproductive Medicine Associates of Northern California]- always available via app. I really liked that. My insurance was a pain to deal with and they were really kind throughout. They put me on a holding pattern which allowed me to go into my cycle as soon as insurance was cleared...Weakness - not sure if this is the fault of the clinic but it's very expensive. There is no discount for multiple cycles. They charged for scans and bloodwork separately which should be included as part of the treatment plan.

But now I've only frozen 6 and if you do the math from that to a live birth, the odds aren't good.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Daniel Kaser at RMA of Northern California?
I would ask about specific protocols and whether he would change (increase or decrease, or change altogether) meds mid-treatment. I wondered if that would have either matured more follicles or released more viable eggs for me.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Daniel Kaser at RMA of Northern California?
Dr Kaser was caring and patient. He explained everything and answered all of my questions. He was responsive over the app whenever I had questions or concerns. For the daily scans, I saw other doctors too in the clinic, they were equally kind and caring during a stressful and sensitive time.

The nurses were great - they gave me a last-minute injection prep b/c I couldn't make the regular class (due to my cycle start time). They gave really detailed instructions on injections, dosage etc, including sharing videos. They were compassionate, kind and very professional - didn't mind all the questions I had. I would recommend them. All of them had good personalities - made you feel at ease, made me laugh.

Describe your experience with your monitoring appointments at RMA of Northern California.
It was efficient. I hardly waited but I was given a specific time during the monitoring window, so it was more like an appointment.
Describe the costs associated with your care under Daniel Kaser at RMA of Northern California.
My employer provided partial coverage. For the service, it was around $4500 out of pocket and for medication, $1814.

Success w/ Doc Too early to know
Dr. Kaser wants with all his heart to give you a baby. He is straight forward with his opinion but does so in the kindest, gentlest manner. He is open to listening to ideas I had about new protocols and fully explored all possibilities with me. He responds to messages on "Spruce" (the app the clinic uses to communicate) quickly. I think delivery bad news is as hard for him to deliver as it is to hear, you can truly hear the emotion in his voice. He's positive about outcomes but not misleading.
They require ICSI for PGS testing [at RMA Northern California]. $12k total, including ICSI, biopsy, freeze...Everyone at RMA is kind, friendly and upbeat. I did NOT feel like a number just passing through. I truly felt like each and every person I came in contact with cared about how I was doing that day...One nurse who was covering came over and personally introduced herself the day of my retrieval. Overall, everyone bends over backwards to make sure you are ok during all of this.

Don't be afraid to take up his time, he truly cares. I know I often felt rushed with other doctors. Dr. K WANTS to spend as much time as possible with you, explaining all the risks, benefits, possibilities, etc.

It can get crowded on weekend monitoring - they have drop in hours. Show up early and you won't have a problem or bring stuff with you to keep yourself occupied while you wait. (Although now in the time of COVID, they have appointment times every 15 mins.)
Describe your experience with your monitoring appointments at RMA of Northern California.
Before COVID, it was drop in hours for monitoring. Show up early and it wasn't a problem. The weekend could be a very long wait, up to an hour. It didn't bother me because the rest of the clinic was so friendly and kind.

RMA will only transfer 1 embryo at a time. I believe there are exceptions, but they have a fairly firm policy.

How was your experience with Daniel Kaser at RMA of Northern California?
Dr. Kaser was a great doctor to guide us through the ups and downs of IVF, and during COVID no less. He explained everything thoroughly and was extremely patient in every conversation, whether it was in the Spruce app, on the phone/video chat, or in person. He's also extremely positive and supportive. He recognized that I was nerding out on all the science and took extra time to talk through details during ultrasounds. He's everything you'd want in a doctor. I wish he could be my OB! We had our first consult in early February, and at the end of July I'm 8 weeks pregnant. And this is considering a 4-week delay when SIP first started and RMA paused new treatment cycles. Also, I elected to immediately go through a 2nd egg retrieval cycle before results from Cycle 1 had been PGS tested, to be on the safe side that I'd have enough embryos frozen for transfer now and in the future. Fairly quick turn of events all in all! Very happy with RMA and Dr. Kaser.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Daniel Kaser at RMA of Northern California?
I would do your homework before going in for your first consultation. He can talk fairly quickly so it's helpful if you already know the IVF lingo and acronyms. Also, since RMA does give you any written documents, take notes in your talks with him and take photos if he whiteboards the "math" of egg retrieval.

Egg retrieval - about $16000 for each Fertility meds for egg retrieval #1: $12000 Fertility meds for egg retrieval #2: $6000 (because some meds left over from #1) Frozen transfer: $4600 Luckily I have Progyny as a benefit through work, so almost all of it was paid for between them and regular insurance. Insurance paid for some things, like some of the bloodwork, genetic screening, Endometrin, etc. Progyny pays for the rest. I think I paid one or two small co-pays too. With Progyny I was eligible for 8 "smart cycle segments" or the equivalent of 2 rounds of IVF, plus $15000 toward fertility meds. I ended up using 7 smart cycle segments. The smart cycles only refer to the medical procedures (i.e. egg retrieval, frozen transfer). I did have to pay out of pocket for some of the meds. But...thankfully with Carrot, my husband's fertility benefit, we can expense up to $10000 per year, and this includes out of pocket expenses. So we are VERY VERY lucky that we didn't have to pay for any of it.

There was one instance where a new prescription didn't get called in along with the others. I had missed that Dr. Kaser didn't call this prescription in, so it was my mistake as well. Luckily, it was a prescription I could get at Walgreens so I picked it up late night. All went fine in the end.

How was your experience with Daniel Kaser at RMA of Northern California?
Dr. Kaser is a thorough, caring, and compassionate doctor. He will answer all your questions promptly, no matter what they are. He will deliver important news to you personally. When I had a bad reaction to certain medications, he immediately took action, monitored me, and I felt much better. You can tell he genuinely loves his work from the excitement with which he delivers good news! My husband and I felt like we were his only patients. It was the best experience I've ever had with a doctor.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Daniel Kaser at RMA of Northern California?
I would advise everyone to do their own homework about the process. During the diagnostic appointment, my husband and I were able to ask very detailed questions that Dr. Kaser was happy to answer.

Describe the protocols Daniel Kaser used in your cycles at RMA of Northern California and their degree of success.
We used the antagonist protocol (most common protocol - Gonal-F and Menopur, followed by Cetrotide and trigger injections). We started in late October and I am now 8+ weeks pregnant as of late January.
Describe your experience with your nurse at RMA of Northern California. (Assigned nurse: Kristen Montesinos)
We were given step-by-step instructions throughout the process by our primary nurse through Spruce, their messaging app. We were given exact dosages and dates to start and end each medication. During the monitoring stage of IVF, we were sent daily updates on bloodwork and any medication changes. We were sent videos of how to administer the meds and received an in-person demonstration. Whenever I had questions, they were immediately answered on Spruce. The egg retrieval was very smooth and I felt well cared-for by the nursing staff. They explained everything to me before the procedure and gave me aftercare instructions after I woke up. When I woke up, I had a heating pad on my stomach, a warm blanket, and a nurse offered me snacks and water. It was my best experience after a surgical procedure.

RMA has been my best experience with a medical care provider in my life. I was in constant communication with my doctor and primary nurse over their messaging app Spruce. The total billed to Progyny insurance was around $33K. Out of this, diagnostics were $2.2K, medications $11.4K, medical services $16.7K, PGS testing $2.7K. Progyny paid for most of it, we only had to pay our out-of-pocket max.
Describe Daniel Kaser's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at RMA of Northern California.
eSET would give us the best chance at a healthy baby, so we didn't ask about any other options.

Before even starting IVF, Dr. Kaser ordered several routine examinations since I hadn't been menstruating including a SIS and discovered that I have scarring in my uterus and fallopian tubes. He performed a laparoscopy so successfully that I only needed that one surgery and then we continued with IVF and egg retrieval, etc. When we did my egg retrieval I had 57 eggs retrieved due to PCOS, and he had me use a lupron trigger which prevented me from getting OHSS. During my preparation for embryo transfer I did progesterone injections, took estrogen pills orally, and also a thyroid med.
I loved all the nurses, admin, and everybody working at both the Silicon Valley and SF clinic [RMA of Northern California]. They knew me as soon as I walked in and were very warm and sweet. Scheduling appointments was super easy, they use Spruce as a texting service and literally responded within 10 minutes every time I sent them a message. My friends were shocked when I told them I could text my doctor...
How was your experience with Daniel Kaser at RMA of Northern California?
I LOVED working with Dr. Kaser. He was such an amazing doctor and I always left feeling really positive and optimistic. He did all of my major procedures (egg retrieval and transfer) which was awesome. He has such a good bedside manner, is very calm and patient, and just a warm genuine person to be around. The other doctors also helped with routine ultrasounds, communication, etc and they are all so nice. I would 100% recommend Dr. Kaser or any of the doctors at RMA.

Dr. Kaser has wonderful bedside manner. He always made you feel welcome in his presence...The reason I have rated him neutrally is although he was very kind, so many mistakes were made to my care at RMA under Dr. Kaser's care... once we were in the throws of IVF, I felt completely bewildered by our experience - it was not at all how he had presented IVF to us...As soon as we hit rough waters, he completely abandoned us and left us completely lost as to what to do next...
Billing department [at RMA of Northern California] is a NIGHTMARE. I was billed for things that were not done and overcharged for certain procedures even though we had signed a contract for a bundled package...The price of these procedures is not given to you beforehand...Spruce is accessible by the entire clinical staff, not just the nurses and doctors...
How was your experience with Daniel Kaser at RMA of Northern California?
Dr. Kaser seemed so genuinely sweet when my husband and I met him over video visit for our initial consult. He was very caring and seemed so invested in us having the family that we wanted. After my initial ultrasound he was thrilled with my antral follicle count and thought we would be very successful with IVF. I definitely wish he spent more time telling us the truth about the potential steps in the IVF process (he oversimplified the process and never mentioned certain procedures like saline ultrasound, hysteroscopy, birth control, etc.) in our consult, as well as the potential outcomes after an embryo transfer in more realistic terms (he gave us a 70% success rate with our first embryo transfer which was not successful). I am a physician myself (not an Ob) so I expected him to be very thorough in his explanation of all the procedures. He was so generous with his time and sometimes didn't charge us for certain procedures, but once we were in the throws of IVF, I felt completely bewildered by our experience - it was not at all how he had presented IVF to us. During our first frozen embryo transfer, we did get a positive pregnancy test, but there was no yolk sac visible during the initial ultrasound. My HCG level had started really low, but it doubled quickly as expected. Instead of explaining why there was nothing on the initial scan, he ran out of the room looking panicked and said "you need blood work" over his shoulder before heading out the door. My husband and I totally freaked out and started sobbing when he left. We didn't sleep well until our follow up ultrasound 5 days later where thankfully we saw a yolk sac, but unfortunately this transfer ended in a blighted ovum (I had no idea what a blighted ovum was or that it was a potential outcome of a transfer). I had lots of issues with my insurance so I decided to do a D&C outside of RMA. My colleague also went to RMA where she was charged almost $5K for a D&C (she was not told this cost upfront) that was not covered with our insurance so I decided to get the procedure done in my hospital system. I had told Dr. Kaser that I needed a break because I was so devastated by this outcome. I did not feel properly prepared for the potential of a loss after a successful implantation. He never called me afterwards to check in on me after this devastating loss. I was so distressed that I might have put myself at risk for breast cancer (I have a strong family history of breast cancer and was rightly concerned about taking high potency hormone injections for IVF). When my husband called Dr. Kaser crying that I was inconsolable after the loss because of my fear of having increased my chances of breast cancer by doing IVF Dr. Kaser immediately became defensive and said "our drugs don't cause cancer!". I felt completely abandoned, invalidated and betrayed by Dr. Kaser. I could not see him as my provider afterwards even though we still had 3 remaining embryos at that time. I lost my respect for him and no longer felt safe in his care. I think Dr. Kaser is a great doctor if everything goes smoothly in your case and there are no setbacks. As soon as we hit rough waters, he completely abandoned us and left us completely lost as to what to do next. I think he lacks maturity and will hopefully learn to be a more steadfast guide on this very scary, tumultuous and personal journey for couples.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Daniel Kaser at RMA of Northern California?
Make sure you ask detailed questions about the process. This process costs tens of thousands of dollars, has many risks, and is a LONG journey - you deserve his time. Do not feel rushed to make any decisions while you are in his presence (we did). Think things over and make sure you have all the information you need to make an informed decision. Hold Dr. Kaser accountable when mistakes are made.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Daniel Kaser at RMA of Northern California?
Dr. Kaser has wonderful bedside manner. He always made you feel welcome in his presence. He also shared his personal IVF journey to make us feel comfortable as IVF is very emotional and overwhelming. The reason I have rated him neutrally is although he was very kind, so many mistakes were made to my care at RMA under Dr. Kaser's care. My hysteroscopy was cancelled an hour and a half before it was scheduled even though I was NPO for 10 hours because the anesthesiologist needed a negative covid test. No one had told me to get a covid test so of course my case needed to be cancelled. Both my husband and I had taken time off work to get this procedure done and we were very upset that this happened when it easily could have been avoided if we were told to get covid tested beforehand. I also had to go back to the clinic 3 times on the same day to get supplies for our IVF injections because of communication error. Every time we messaged on the Spruce app, some random person would respond, not just Dr. Kaser. We also had to wait over a week to get our PGT-A testing results back. Dr. Kaser is usually so prompt in his messaging we were surprised that he took almost 2 weeks to get our results back. My husband even called the lab directly and they said they had already given the results to RMA. When my husband called the front desk about our test results, the secretary told him that they didn't know where our results were (my husband thought they had lost our precious embryos). The whole experience was very traumatizing and could have been smoother with more effective communication. I definitely felt like the clinic dropped the ball several times in our care.
Describe the protocols Daniel Kaser used in your cycles at RMA of Northern California and their degree of success.
I overreacted to the medications so I underwent less medications than I was supposed to do. I believe I did 3 days of gonal F and menopur, then they added Ganirelix until I was ready to do the trigger shot (0.25 of 10,000 units HCG). I was told I was ready for retrieval on my first ultrasound which made me so overwhelmed because I was expecting to do the medications for 2 weeks.
Describe your experience with your nurse at RMA of Northern California. (Assigned nurse: Kristen)
Kristen is a really sweet, but she was so disorganized and became very defensive if a mistake was made because she failed to communicate something important to me. The day before my retrieval she called me panicked because I did not have an HIV test results (and something else sorry I forgot). We had gone over the lab results with our doctor before the retrieval and he said everything was in order. Instead of admitting that a mistake was made she said "Dr Kaser told you to get this done". He did not. We were given a list of lab tests to be done. I showed them the tests that I had done. They said they had reviewed them but clearly they did not. I had to wake up 2 hours early to go to the lab to get these last minute tests done before working as a physician myself in order to get the results to them prior to the retrieval. The retrieval was SO stressful and having this last minute test done added unnecessary stress. I also had so many nurses interact with me who often didn't know my protocol (or anything about me). When Kristen did call with HCG results she was always professional and sweet, but it was not consistently her who was calling me.
Describe your experience with RMA of Northern California.
Pros: - RMA can get you in super quickly and they will churn and burn you. - They are open 7 days a week so a modified natural cycle is a possibility at this site. - They use an app called Spruce to communicate with you. You can expect a response from someone on the team within 2 hours (sometimes as quick as 5 minutes!). - The staff are very welcoming and kind. Cons: - Billing department is a NIGHTMARE. I was billed for things that were not done and overcharged for certain procedures even though we had signed a contract for a bundled package. We needed to get the central billing department involved and we still do not have our issues resolved. The billing is not transparent and the person who we are interacting with is not consistent in emailing you back and gives you contradictory information. SO FRUSTRATING. - You feel very pressured to keep doing procedures. The price of these procedures is not given to you beforehand. - The IVF process was oversimplified and the expected outcomes over promised. For something as intimate as having a family, I would expect these doctors to deliver more realistic odds of success and to have more compassion when things go wrong. Most other clinics have a follow up check in 6 weeks after a loss so you don't feel lost and abandoned by your clinic. My friends who have gone elsewhere thought the fact that our doctor never reached out to us was inhumane and just mean. - You are definitely treated like a lab rat as a woman at RMA - poked and prodded SO many times with no impact on your outcome. Your protocol is not tailored to you at all. It is there way or the highway. - I also think they promote procedures to get more money without always adding to your clinical outcome. I think it is wrong that they added certain blood tests without my permission (of course not covered by my insurance) just for monetary gain. - Spruce is accessible by the entire clinical staff, not just the nurses and doctors. I remember receiving a message from one of the billing staff about my vaginal bleeding and I was horrified. I asked that my account remain private to just MD/RNs but that is not possible through the Spruce app. I felt like this was an invasion of my privacy and I wish someone had told me this before I started using it.
Describe your experience with your monitoring appointments at RMA of Northern California.
Monitoring appointments were so overwhelming. We would get an appointment slot but the doctor would be doing an egg retrieval or something else in an entirely different area so you were often asked if you wouldn't mind seeing the NP instead. I am not sure why they offered appointments when the doctor was not available. I found this very frustrating.
Describe the costs associated with your care under Daniel Kaser at RMA of Northern California.
IUI was around $650; egg retrieval cost around $14K, drugs for IVF cost around $4.5K; transfer was supposed to cost $4200, but ended up being $4500-7000+ for each transfer not including medications.
Describe Daniel Kaser's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at RMA of Northern California.
I agree with only transferring one embryo at a time. It did not seem like RMA promoted multiple embryo transfers.
What specific things went wrong at RMA of Northern California?
  • Lost appointments
  • Failed to call with results
  • Lost results
  • Provided conflicting information
  • Failed to convey critical information
Describe the specific things that went wrong at RMA of Northern California.
We were not given our PGT-A test results during the time frame promised (7 days). When we called the lab who did our testing on a Wednesday, they said they had already sent it to RMA on the previous Monday. When my husband called RMA about this, the front desk staff said they didn't know where our test results were. My husband thought she meant they lost our embryos and we were both so upset. Thankfully Dr. Kaser called us the following evening to go over the results, but this was so upsetting and completely avoidable. I was told I needed an emergent hysteroscopy after Dr. Kaser saw something on my saline ultrasound on a Friday. We were told to do the procedure on Tuesday when we both had work. We cancelled our work schedules, I was NPO since the night before and then 1.5 hours prior to my procedure, Dr. Kaser called to ask me if by chance I had a covid test done. I was not advised to do a covid test and didn't need one for my egg retrieval a couple weeks prior so I was surprised that he didn't tell me about this requirement. The anesthesiologist refused to see me and my scope was cancelled. My husband is a lawyer and had to cancel he had with a team in Japan and I am a physician so I had to cancel my clinic. I was so upset about this cancellation and had to wait until the following Wednesday to get the scope done. I had specifically asked how painful the hysteroscopy was but Dr. Kaser said I shouldn't have any issues since I had no pain after the egg retrieval. I woke up with 8/10 pain while still foggy from the anesthesia and needed two boluses of fentanyl to stop sobbing from the pain. When I informed him that I experienced a lot more pain than I had expected he dismissed me and said "cervices are irritable". I was LLIVID with this response. We are taught in medical school to show compassion and to say you are sorry if things do not go well. He has never said he was sorry for causing me so much pain.

Dr. Kaser is genuinely compassionate. He is not just a good doctor but a very decent human. A lot of doctors are good but only a few are naturally empathetic. He also does not have an ego and listens to the patient and assess their comfort level before blindly recommending tretments. He is super flexible, alters the treatments depending on how you respond...Most doctors are talented but only a few can put people at ease and make them.feel heard. Dr. Kaser has that ability naturally.
The clinic [RMA of Northern California] has 3 doctors. A patient will be routinely seen by all 3 for their u/s and even the retrieval procedures. My primary communication was with Dr.Kaser but the other two were also good. The biggest plus is their spruce texting app. It is so easy to reach the doctors in this clinic, all it takes is a single text and you get a response immediately...Had different nurses. All were good and quick. I really liked that i didnt have to wait too long for my blood works or ultrasounds.

I only see Dr. Kaser once during the treatment phase, and the other doctors I have seen during the ultrasound never answered my question. Whenever I asked a question, the doctor would say " Dr. Kaser will explain". However, Dr. Kaser rarely answer my questions delicately, and the communication channel is very limited....
During the whole process of IVF in this clinic, I do not feel I am getting personalized treatment. Both my parter and I feel like we are treated by a computer machine, and no human behind to analysis our case. The doctors do not listen to our concerns or consider our suggestions based on our own experience...The nurse only communicated through Spruce of the medications to take, and never send me ultrasound results until I asked for.
How was your experience with Daniel Kaser at RMA of Northern California?
I met with Dr. Kaser during the consultation for one hour. Dr. Kaser seemed very professional that time, but kind of pushy for us to start right away after the consultation. After the consultation, there was no explaining of our bloodwork results, whether good or bad. And during the whole treatment, I only saw Dr. Kaser once, and the other doctors I have seen during the morning monitoring did not answer my question as they said “Dr. Kaser will have a plan”. So I tried to use spruce for more answers e..g why my eggs is not consistently growing, and whether we should reduce the dose or change protocol based on the results. Dr. Kaser never get back to me with any explanation. I was very frustrated as I thought this clinic should be good based on the reviews. It turns out the complete opposite way, so I doubted that those reviewed may be fake by friends or employees. After the egg retrieval, Dr. Kaser never share the results with me until I asked.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Daniel Kaser at RMA of Northern California?
I would advise Dr. Kaser listens to his patients, and pay more attention to each case, instead of treat every patient like a number, as it is a very important decision for each patient who decides to go through IVF.

There was no strategy or rational explained by Dr. Kaser. It was my first time IVF, only the nurse communicated what doses of medications through Spruce.

Describe your experience with RMA of Northern California.
For a new patient, my advise is to do more research on fertility IQ and have more consultations prior deciding to go with RMA. If a doctor give you a protocol, please make sure to ask the rational and what's their strategy instead of been treated like a number. The reviews online can be fake.
Describe your experience with your monitoring appointments at RMA of Northern California.
I only had 4 early monitoring, and twice with another doctor, once with Dr. Kaser, and once with a nurse. Overall, it is on time, but I do not feel like they care about me.

I felt heard and supported under [Dr. Kaser's] care. I felt that my case was important and urgent and i felt my concerns were heard and validated. I can recall at least two phone calls where Dr Kaser spent a long time going in to detail with me about specifics of my case and the procedures I had to undergo...Our protocol was egg retrieval with injectable atoms, ICSI fertilization, day 5 blastocysts then PSG testing...All of these options while being more expensive are to maximize the likelihood of quality embryos for transfer. I then had a polyp removal to ensure my uterus was optimal for transfer. Our transfer was FET.
staff [at RMA of New Jersey] wanted us to conceive as badly as we wanted to...Our protocol was egg retrieval with injectable atoms, ICSI fertilization, day 5 blastocysts then PSG testing which the clinic mandates...The nursing staff was amazing, from my coordinator to the blood draw techs to the front office manager. They were professional, prompt, empathetic, and very supportive...Morning hours were well run. I never waited long. Process was efficient and well organized.

Don’t be afraid to ask questions about treatment options and possible scenarios. You will be heard.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Daniel Kaser at RMA of New Jersey?
I felt like a human because Dr Kaser knew me, knew my situation, and was extremely informed about what my situation was and what was best for me. He answered my questions and concerns and provided me with advice I could trust because I knew he cared about me and what I was going through. We had our retrieval before thanksgiving and our transfer the day after Christmas, and Dr Kaser and his staff were so sympathetic to how this process must have felt around a holiday. Dr Kaser also performed another procedure on me to remove a polyp and I could tell he felt the urgency we felt to get this done so we could move on to the transfer. You could see he and his staff wanted us to conceive as badly as we wanted to.

Morning hours were well run. I never waited long. Process was efficient and well organized.
Describe the costs associated with your care under Daniel Kaser at RMA of New Jersey.
We have great insurance and most what what we had done was covered. The PSG testing was not covered but was mandatory from the clinic and cost us about 2,000 dollars. We had to pay about 275 for genetic counseling and then with meds and co-pays we paid approx. an additional 1,000-2,000 for IVF.
Describe Daniel Kaser's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at RMA of New Jersey.
The doctors at this office only do single embryo transfers to reduce the likelihood of a high risk multiples pregnancy. I would have liked the option to transfer multiples but I trusted that the doctors had my best interest at heart with their policy. It was not a deal breaker for us.

Dr Kaser is compassionate and has great bed side manner. He took on my infertility case after 1 failed and 1 ectopic cycle. He was thorough and took his time with me. He is honest and down to earth...I received medical advice from an infertility specialist through a 3rd party program. Dr Kaser reviewed my report with me and incoporated some of the protocol in my cycle. He's also collaborated with other doctors at RMA on my case to have a second set of eyes assist with a very complicated case.
I feel that all doctors at RMA that I have met with are strongly against multiple embryo transfers. Yet Ive had 3 failed transfere with pgs tested embryos. We may consider putting in 2 if my 4th transfer fails...is a big organization and each department has their own responsibilities. My doctor and nurse communicate well and are on the same page. The finance department seems to be stretched too thin. It takes them a long time to reply to billing questions yet when you have to pay up front for a cycle they have a sense of urgency. The finance department lacks compassion and understanding of what the patients are going through. I would require special training for all finance or anyone for that matter who talks to patients. RMA should also invest is bringing on more support for the Finance department.
How was your experience with Daniel Kaser at RMA of New Jersey?
Dr Kasee is a great listener. He reviews all my records prior to meeting with me and always shows up prepared. He is a great colloborator. My situation is complicated because both my partner and I are healthy, no issues, except my age of 39. I received medical advice from an infertility specialist through a 3rd party program. I was under Dr. Kaser's care for my 3rd FET. He had me take my estrace pills vaginally to increase the lining quicker and the standard progesterone dosage. Prior to the cycle he performed an ERA and endometrial biopsy to ensure we were transfering on the right day and there was no infection. Unfortunately my 3rd FET resulted in a negative pregnancy test and we will be changing the protocol significantly for my 4th

Success w/ Doc Too early to know
Dr. Kaser is very patient and kind.l had a lot of questions for him and he was able to answer all of them during our appointment. He performed my saline sonogram and my initial consult sonogram. He walked me through the whole IVF process then circled back to my immediate next steps....IVF- saline sonogram to confirm presence of fibroids, scar tissue, etc. Sema4 genetic testing to confirm my partner and I are not carriers for the same diseases. Nutritional consult for healthy lifestyle. IVF egg retrieval medications
RMANJ has Lots of locations, caring and understanding staff, high live birth success rate. Would love if all locations had weekend hours, but we were able to make all of our appointments within reason. They are very open with information and data. The finance department is probably the weakest department, not as sensitive to the large sum of money, ask you to do a lot of calls to your own insurance.... Monitoring would be in the early morning hours

Describe your experience with your monitoring appointments at RMA of New Jersey.
Monitoring would be in the early morning hours, everyone who arrives gets seen in the order they arrive. It was never a long wait. I needed to lay down for blood draw they always put me in a room for this. Some of the monitoring doctors would be a little rushed and not explain the measurements or calculations in the sonogram
Describe the costs associated with your care under Daniel Kaser at RMA of New Jersey.
Insurance covered most of my treatment. Embro cryopreservation and genetic testing were not covered ($5k). And probably another $1-2k for copays, medication, etc.
Describe Daniel Kaser's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at RMA of New Jersey.
RMA does single embryo transfer for younger patients who have not undergone a cycle before

Success w/ Doc Too early to know
Dr. Kaser really surprised me. His bedside manner is wonderful. I never felt like a number, but always a human being, whom he truly cared about. His balance of sensitivity and intelligence is unlike I've ever seen. He's a very special doctor and has given me the confidence to give this a try, despite being considered 'too old' according to other doctors I have previously consulted with.
Very organized. A well-oiled machine. I had to get involved with the insurance a little more than expected, but the finance team came through on completing everything.... [Nurse] Great at communicating. Very responsive via email.... Dr. Kaser is empathetic, smart, and driven to succeed. He lets his heart lead rather than the numbers. This really matters -- having someone in your corner.

Dr. Kaser is empathetic, smart, and driven to succeed. He lets his heart lead rather than the numbers. This really matters -- having someone in your corner. He's personable and answers all your questions without hesitation or annoyance. He's an amazing doctor. Don't let his compassion make you think he isn't exceptional with the numbers -- he's gifted on all levels.

Very organized. A well-oiled machine. I had to get involved with the insurance a little more than expected, but the finance team came through on completing everything. The insurance still denied me coverage. I haven't tried a lot of clinics, but I feel very comfortable at RMA. Dr. Kaser is the real reason I'm here.
Describe the costs associated with your care under Daniel Kaser at RMA of New Jersey.
Not sure where it's all going to land. Between $15,000 -- $20,000 since insurance isn't covering it.

Found Dr. Kaser to be extremely involved with my case. When things weren’t going well he stopped all other clinicians from doing any testing and did it all himself even if it meant him coming to work at 6am just to see me. I found him to be genuinely disappointed when I was and really felt my pain through the process...He was super genuine and explained everything well. I would have liked to see him more frequently but that ended up happening when my case became more complex. He was good about returning phone calls and never rushed through the conversations.
I never waited long [for monitoring appointments at RMA of New Jersey]. I got there when they opened and was seen quickly for bloodwork and then for an ultrasound. I was often in and out in about 10 minutes...Clinic was fairly small but I liked that i got to know everyone by first name. They asked how i was, including the receptionist. They start to become familiar when you’re there a lot. They opened a new clinic in the middle of the process that was more updated and new, but with the same people. They were organized, easy to talk to

Dr. Kaser was wonderful in every way. He diagnosed me with PCOS after two previous doctors had missed this. Once my infertility was treated using an appropriate intervention for PCOS I got the result I had hoped for. Dr. Kaser went above and beyond in all regards showing true compassion and concern. He answered all my questions thoroughly. Working with him was such a pleasure that my husband even commented that he wished Dr. Kaser could deliver our baby as well.
Friendly, pleasant, personable. All staff is friendly and accommodating. RMA of NJ, Marlton sets a very high bar, they make every other clinic experience I have had look poor by comparison.... So responsive and compassionate. I felt that she [nurse] was with me every step of the way. She made the experience manageable and easy to navigate. Any and all of my questions and concerns were answered within 24 hours, usually less. My insurance gave me a hard time and she helped me with that. Cannot say enough good things about Beth!

Then I had the egg transfer and I got pregnant right away. He monitored me for the next 8 weeks to make sure that embryo was growing correctly through the beginning of my pregnancy.

I ended up having 9 unsuccessful IUIs with and without medication. For the first I took Clomid and overreacted and had to skip the cycle - I was very upset but Dr. Kaser convinced me to stay positive and continue and was prepared with a plan for the next cycle. After that we tried several "natural" cycles, which also failed. Then Dr. Kaser recommended trying injectable medications...convinced me that I would have much better chances with IVF. I completely trusted him and went forward with the egg retrieval cycle which was successful and frozen embryo transfer - also successful!
The morning monitoring [at RMA of New Jersey] went smoothly on almost all occasions. Even when the waiting room was full I rarely had to wait longer than 15 minutes or so...When I switched to IVF my insurance did not cover it and I paid a lump sum for all associated visits and the procedure itself. It was around $20,000 I think. Then I paid an additional lump sum for the FET cycle of around $4,000 which again included monitoring...Overall the clinic is professional but caring and a comfortable place for patients.
How was your experience with Daniel Kaser at RMA of New Jersey?
Dr. Kaser is the best doctor I have ever had and though this was a difficult journey, he made me feel cared for and supported throughout. I never felt he was giving up hope and that is what kept me strong and positive. He was great at communicating and explaining what was happening and what to expect. He was encouraging and caring and really made me feel special - not like just another patient. He was extremely competent and knew how to answer all my questions. I felt comfortable with him through every procedure. When things didn't go well he took the time to call me himself and explain in detail and listen to my concerns.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Daniel Kaser at RMA of New Jersey?
To trust him and not give up if treatment takes longer than expected.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Daniel Kaser at RMA of New Jersey?
Everyone in the office was so caring and supportive throughout. It was clear that they care about the patients and making sure they stay positive through a difficult time. Not only the doctor, but the nurses, assistants, and administrative staff all made me feel this way. I couldn't have chosen a better place for this treatment
Describe the protocols Daniel Kaser used in your cycles at RMA of New Jersey and their degree of success.
I started without knowing I had any infertility issues with high prospects that I would become pregnant quickly. Then Dr. Kaser recommended trying injectable medications. Once I did have a positive pregnancy test, but it turned out to be a chemical pregnancy. It was very difficult to get through, but again Dr. Kaser encouraged me not to give up. After a few more unsuccessful IUIs (my insurance did not cover IVF which is why I tried to avoid it), Dr Kaser convinced me that I would have much better chances with IVF. I completely trusted him and went forward with the egg retrieval cycle which was successful and frozen embryo transfer - also successful! I am now 38 weeks pregnant. I feel even though it took well over a year for me to get pregnant, Dr. Kaser did whatever he could to make it happen while taking my concerns into account. I know if I went with IVF sooner it wouldn't have taken so long but it was a process I had to go through before understanding that was the best (maybe only) option. Dr. Kaser was patient and supportive.
Describe your experience with your nurse at RMA of New Jersey. (Assigned nurse: Beth Harley)
Beth was incredible - she was so caring and supportive. she expressed her emotions openly and was sad when things didn't work out and genuinely happy when they did. I know she honestly cared about me. She was also very good with helping me with injections and I had a fear of needles
Describe your experience with RMA of New Jersey.
Overall the clinic is professional but caring and a comfortable place for patients. The location was not convenient considering how often I had to visit, but it was worth the extra travel. They could not perform certain procedures at the clinic and I had to travel quite a distance to another facility on those occasions. There will be a new office opening soon so I don't think this will be an issue anymore.

Describe the costs associated with your care under Daniel Kaser at RMA of New Jersey.
My insurance covered the IUIs and regular appointments, monitoring, and lab work. I had a $40 copay. When I switched to IVF my insurance did not cover it and I paid a lump sum for all associated visits and the procedure itself. It was around $20,000 I think. Then I paid an additional lump sum for the FET cycle of around $4,000 which again included monitoring. I also had to pay for the medications during the IVF cycle. I am not sure what the total cost was but it was more than $2000.
Describe Daniel Kaser's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at RMA of New Jersey.
Dr. Kaser insisted it was best to transfer a single embryo even though I was unsure and thought maybe it would give me better chances to transfer 2. He said that multiples create more risk and woman are really meant to have 1 at a time. I am glad he insisted and I trusted him so much that I agreed.

How was your experience with Daniel Kaser at RMA of New Jersey?
Dr. Kaser is exactly the doctor you want for any scenario, but especially for something as emotionally and physically draining as infertility. He is extremely knowledgeable, willing to listen to ideas, explains his methodology, pays attention to every minor detail, answers all questions (no matter how big, small, or ridiculous you may seem to think they may be), shares in the highs and lows, best personality for infertility. I could keep going on and on - so happy we were recommended to him.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Daniel Kaser at RMA of New Jersey?
Ask questions. Ask all your questions, don’t google answers, get answers from Dr. Kaser. He’s very knowledgeable, experienced, compassionate, and patient.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Daniel Kaser at RMA of New Jersey?
I was on a tough road that led me to Dr. Kaser. He was extremely compassionate, patient, non-judgmental, driven, positive when I couldn’t be, and had such determined reassurance for me. I was a mess when I came to him and he took the time to really listen and learn about me and together we worked for me to get my baby, and I am typing this as my almost 5 month old is sleeping across from me in his crib. Dr. Kaser knew I wanted to be informed and involved every step of the way and he made certain I understood each step. Always responsive and caring.
Describe the protocols Daniel Kaser used in your cycles at RMA of New Jersey and their degree of success.
We began with comprehensive bloodwork and screening for both my husband and me. It was already decided I’d do a freeze all retrieval using my husband’s sperm. I took CoQ10 600mg daily, baby aspirin, and other vitamins to begin with. My husband also had to take meds. I had follistim objectively twice a day (I think 225iu twice a day), as well as lo dose hcg, microdose lupron, and a trigger shot. This was my fifth Retrieval (the precious ones were at another clinic). Due to my precious retrieval’s, Dr Kaser adjusted the timing to do it a little earlier since it seemed like a previous one was a little late. We did CCS testing and we had 4 genetically normal embryos - the most at one time ever. Next he texted my lining and discovered I’d need to do a transfer one day earlier than standard, and that served as a scratch to get the embryo to stick. For the frozen embryo transfer cycle, I used endometrin 3 times a day, methotrexate (I believe) for about a week, Valium day of transfer (to relax uterus) and laser acupuncture, and was successful the first transfer! I preferred not to know the sex until I got a positive result. It was amazing to get the call that it was positive! When I next met with Dr. Kaser for my scan we were both beyond thrilled. I then asked for the sex of the baby and he told me.
Describe your experience with your nurse at RMA of New Jersey. (Assigned nurse: Hillary)
Hillary was on top of my care. I probably spoke more with her than anyone else. My communication with her was primarily email which I preferred since I feel it’s faster and I could always make sure my questions were detailed to my liking. I would ask her anything and everything and she would always respond with kindness and logic - which I always appreciated. She was also detrimental to my success.
Describe your experience with RMA of New Jersey.
RMANJ is big. And they know how to run sufficiently. They opened early for monitoring and had a streamlined process to make sure everyone is seen in a timely manner. I never felt rushed with my doctors and always could ask all my questions. Due to my previous experiences I know to speak up for myself and I did, and they had no problem with that. The facilities are beautiful and clean, modern. (I’ve been to Princeton, Marlton, and Basking Ridge). Top of the line technology. Also, the transfer room was the best experience ever, having my husband with me, having the embryo brought in inside an incubator, seeing it all on a big screen - it was beautiful. They are huge, they do not treat you like a number when they are treating you. So many people go to them for a reason, they know what they are doing. When they first see you the have to start with some kind of care, their golden standard, and adjust and be flexible accordingly to find what works best with you. It works. For billing and meds - stay on top of it. Know your insurance, know your pharmacy, know your scripts. Follow up daily and twice daily if need be. Some people don’t have to work to get pregnant, some, like me, do. You need to be your number one champion and let RMA help you along the way.
Describe your experience with your monitoring appointments at RMA of New Jersey.
I at times felt rushed by seeing other women in the waiting room or elevator, but once signed in would always be taken within 10 minutes for blood work, and then within 10 minutes to the room (usually faster). The phlebotomists were friendly and did a great job finding a vein (mine are always so hard to find), the nursing staff was great, and even if I didn’t see my doctor, the one on duty always took time to go over and explain my ultrasound, the protocol, and answer all my questions.
Describe the costs associated with your care under Daniel Kaser at RMA of New Jersey.
I had to pay a $25 copay a few times before I met my out of pocket limit with insurance. Also the insurance I had covered unlimited infertility treatments and it covered my medicine 100% after meeting my out of pocket. I did have to pay $2500 for embryo testing, $600 for the ERA, and $200 for laser acupuncture day of transfer. Insurance also covered freezing and storage of semen and embryos.
Describe Daniel Kaser's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at RMA of New Jersey.
He preferred eSet and I decided to go with his expertise. (Even though I so wanted to make sure I would be pregnant and was considering multiple embryo transfer. He was confident that a single embryo would work and he was right!)

Dr. Kaser met with us for almost two full hours on our first visit. He is monitoring our current IVF cycle from NJ (we live in PA). He has called on several occasions to check-in, see if we have any questions and touch-base about any upcoming changes. I can't express enough how professional and thorough he has been with us.
The clinic [RMANJ-Hamilton] itself is a bit of a 'hole in the wall'. It is small, but I wouldn't let this put you off. So far our paperwork has been handled well, and all of our concerns have been addressed in a very timely manner.... Jennifer [a nurse] is really well organized and on top of everything. She has been really helpful in coordinating our treatment and has been really kind and pleasant on the phone.

What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Daniel Kaser at RMA of New Jersey?
Don't be deceived by the look of the Hamilton office. It seems a little bit like a hole in the wall, but don't worry.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Daniel Kaser at RMA of New Jersey?
We met with Dr. Kaser after a failed IVF with another RMA clinic. He was warm and friendly, but matter-of-fact and really detail oriented. He is incredibly professional and (while I'm not a doctor) really seems very competent. He was balanced in his assessment and reviewed all possible options with us. We really liked him immediately and felt very comfortable.
