Our experience with him was wonderful. I think he took the time needed. He talked about our health beyond just the basic sperm and egg. He conveyed to us that he does care about us. We both enjoyed being able to see him even if it was for one visit.

A piece of advice I would give to a prospective patient of Dr. Austin’s would be to be honest, open minded, and enjoy the experience even though it can be hard.

He has not done a whole lot. He did inform us that testosterone my husband was prescribed (different doctor) was part of the problem. He took him off those and he’s been on HCG. After a few months, Dr. Austin had him take a SA and it came back low for almost everything. Waiting now for a way to pay for IVF.

We have only had one appointment and one SA. Thankfully the insurance covered these both.

I have not had any experience with either of these.

As we've just started a more formal relationship with Dr. Austin, it is hard to fully know how we'll feel overall until treatment is completed. I do think that so far, he has really listened to our particular concerns and nuances as an individual, which for me, are many! More than anything in our journey I have really disliked when feeling dismissed by a provider, and Dr. Austin will never make you feel that way. I do wish that his practice was offering more cutting edge approaches to things, rather than the standard way of doing things (INVOcell, different sperm sorting techniques, etc) I feel that we have a rare and complex situation, and I get concerned that although I really LIKE Dr. Austin, I wonder if his practice is forward thinking enough and willing to adjust or try different approaches.

Be prepared as possible with a thorough background on your own situation, try to research as much as you possibly can so you can ask a lot of questions based on your own case, and advocate for yourself and the things that make you comfortable. I think that Dr. Austin is willing to hear you.

We are in very early stages of treatment with Dr. Austin so I don't have much helpful information as of yet in this area. Although I have done many IUI's with my regular OB (some medicated, some natural) none were monitored, so I believe that is where we need to start and he was agreeable to this. He did suggest based on what we see, we could then move forward to more medication and triggers to try and get the best, and most follicles, well synchronized for ovulation. We have not discussed yet IVF protocols in particular. I did inquire about some additional pre-testing prior to IVF (we've already done a lot through my OB and through my husband's Urologist), and he explained his rationale for not using or using things I asked about (ERA testing for example) and I was satisfied with his reasoning. I do still wish they would consider things like Zymot (microfluidic sorting) as we do know we have a mid-high level of DNA fragmentation, and for the price of adding this, it would ease my mind. If we move forward with IVF in his clinic, I would advocate for this as I think it's worth at least trying - why not?! It can't hurt, and when you're shelling out 10's of thousands of $'s, I think it's important to really throw everything you can at giving it your best chance (based on your tests, of course).

We have done many, many sperm analysis and washes for IUI - those range from $100-$140. Initial cost for consultation was $600, which seems to on the high end compared to Portland clinics by near double, which is disappointing. My understanding is that his IVF cost does include ICSI for no additional cost (not confirmed) and his overall IVF cost is lower than Portland options.

No experience with this.

Dr. Austin is very kind, listens to my concerns. He talks to my husband a lot as well which makes him feel included, sometimes too much- I wish he would talk to me more than my husband. Dr. Austin treats me like the medical professional that I am, which I appreciate. I am a very type A person and Dr.Austin has made me feel, at times, like I am being too cautious or worried about the fertility plan (or step) that we are on and that very much frustrates me. It isn’t his body (or his babies) that are hanging in the balance.

Have a consult with him and ask lots of questions. Also, call the office a lot and check in to make sure what Dr. Austin says actually happens.

We did a 5d transfer fresh cycle with injectable for my only successful pregnancy. We were encouraged that with subsequent frozen attempts it was quick and painless, only to find out that frozen cycles also take 12 weeks of planning (scheduling) and then if you fail your cycle you have to WAIT until you can be fit into the next cycle, very frustrating to fail and then have to wait to start for many more weeks.

We have only transferred in multiples. Risk was discussed with us each time, but once the risks were weighed it seemed to be our choice.

Dr. Austin is a very sweet, caring doctor. He is fun and down to earth. He doesn't just see his patients as people coming/going, he treats them as friends in that he likes to get to them as individuals/people. He takes the time to ask questions about how you are doing and what is new in your every day life. His ability to interact on a personal level and remember details is comforting. My husband and I have complete faith in him, as his actions have proven and continue to prove he is willing to go above and beyond in an effort to make it possible to see us grow our family. Dr. Austin is more than a doctor, he is our friend.

Become your own advocate, dig into educating yourself on infertility, personal diagnosis, ask questions. Infertility is such a broad, large issue with so many potential issues, do you due diligence and do your homework... this is a team effort!

I have low AMH, a low ovarian reserve. That is our only known issue. Our protocol has focused on growing as many follicles as we can possible get (as there are not many). The medications used have helped see that happen.

The cost of IVF with ICSI is $9500. I believe they, with consent will always do ICSI if deemed necessary. Medications in US are around $5500 for a higher dose protocol.

For us, we do not have a high enough number of eggs for eSET. We transfer what we get for when you have low AMH, a pregnancy of multiples isn't feared. There is a lower possibility of that happening, if that makes sense.

He was very honest. Did not sugarcoat things. I very much appreciate that! But on the other hand, he did not seem willing to try new things that I would bring to the table for him to explore. When he would quote me statistics... They would be different than what he quoted to all of my other friends that see him. He made me feel very comfortable... And he also included my husband in every aspect.

Do your research
