How was your experience with Gregory Zapantis at New York Reproductive Wellness?
Dr. Zapantis had a pleasant "bedside manner" and was very friendly and polite. He also didn't make me feel rushed. On that note, I had to wait an hour to see him, BUT I was told that he was running behind because another new patient was taking longer than expected. And to be honest, that was less offensive to me because I can understand how that might happen (none of us want to feel rushed, right?) When it was my turn, I appreciated that he was efficient in speaking honestly and directly to me about my situation, while also allowing me ample time to give details and ask questions. Though it sounds generic to say this, he was clearly a very nice man. My one issue -- particular to me -- is that I am presenting a more challenging case (apparently) and I didn't feel like my issues were addressed in that context. I've met REs who get my info and seem to want to dive in as if I'm a walking cold case, which I appreciate. And while I fully felt that Dr. Zapantis wanted to help me, I didn't feel like we uncovered any major new rocks to overturn. Maybe there wasn't anything else to add, but that was just my personal feeling which made this consultation/exam a little different. He was positive and optimistic as if I was approaching IVF for the first or second time, vs several rounds in. The positivity made me feel good, but I'm also searching for answers and productive input. I would absolutely continue treatment with him based on his personality and apparent expertise, but it's hard for me to say more about his approach as I've only had one solid consultation and exam with him.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Gregory Zapantis at New York Reproductive Wellness?
I am glad that I have seen additional doctors so that I could balance out what they advised against what Dr. Zapantis suggested. All my docs have been different, and the more you know as a patient, the better. It was helpful to hear what matched up with Dr. Zapantis' pov and where he felt differently. He is not a pushy person at all, so it's good to come with questions so you can flush out more info that might not otherwise come up.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Gregory Zapantis at New York Reproductive Wellness?
The staff was friendly and kind. They were really upbeat, which can be nice, but sometimes makes me feel a little uncomfortable in this situation. It's a fertility clinic, not a nail salon. I guess I'm just sad to be there, so it's hard to manage that with so much cheeriness. I also felt like the protocol for a new patient was very black & white. Lots of paperwork to fill out and no option to request a consultation without an exam. It was an (expensive) package deal.
Describe the protocols Gregory Zapantis used in your cycles at New York Reproductive Wellness and their degree of success.
I've not had success through multiple rounds of IVF and transfers; he suggested I try an alternate, medicated protocol that could be beneficial.
Describe your experience with the nursing staff at New York Reproductive Wellness.
I've only had 1 visit thus far, but the nurses were very friendly. They were generally upbeat, which can be a little weird (for me) in this type of practice, but that's just my personal feeling when at any fertility clinic. I'm generally not feeling super happy to be there. The nurses and staff were all kind and friendly.
Describe your experience with New York Reproductive Wellness.
In my limited experience with this clinic, the office was small but nice and modern. Clean. The staff was friendly, both on the phone and in person. I appreciated the honest feedback on appointment scheduling, rescheduling, a waitlist, and why the doctor was delayed. Dr. Zapantis was very, very nice which means a lot in this process. There is not a lot of privacy in the waiting room or communal areas, if that's important to you. It's just a smaller space.
Describe the costs associated with your care under Gregory Zapantis at New York Reproductive Wellness.
$400 consultation fee, which included an exam.
Describe Gregory Zapantis's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at New York Reproductive Wellness.
In our conversation about a future, hypothetic transfer, he seemed more conservative in his recommendation of how many embryos to transfer (which is my impression from most REs.)
