Dr. Nodler explained all of my options in a direct, frank but professional and courteous manner...He answered all of my questions with detail and/or with the information that would help me determine the best possible courses of action based on my factors (age, partner, etc.)...He also took the time and asked me to thoughtfully consider what are my ultimate objectives, and weigh my options accordingly, with out passing judgment on and one option as better than another
They have done what they said they would (call back, provide additional information, etc.) when they said they would. How was your experience with James Nodler at CCRM Houston/Houston IVF?
I have only done the consult and initial labwork thus far. I am pretty far in my age (early to mid 40s) as far as options. He also took the time and asked me to thoughtfully consider what are my ultimate objectives, and weigh my options accordingly, with out passing judgment on and one option as better than another. Dr. Nodler and his staff have been professional, courteous and took the time to explain my options at this stage, from medical, financial, the process, drugs, donor bank options, etc. I was very impressed. I am have one additional consult scheduled, but because of the location and how I have been treated thus far, I am confident I will likely proceed with Dr. Nodler and his staff at CCRM.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of James Nodler at CCRM Houston/Houston IVF?
Be prepared with questions and clear as to what you are hoping to accomplish in seeking the services of the clinic. Dr. Nodler reviewed the medical chart and fairly presented all options.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with James Nodler at CCRM Houston/Houston IVF?
Dr. Nodler explained all of my options in a direct, frank but professional and courteous manner. He asked what I was there for and hoping to accomplish. He answered all of my questions with detail and/or with the information that would help me determine the best possible courses of action based on my factors (age, partner, etc.).
Describe the protocols James Nodler used in your cycles at CCRM Houston/Houston IVF and their degree of success.
I have not gotten to this stage just yet, but hope to be at this stage very soon.

Describe your experience with CCRM Houston/Houston IVF.
So far, everyone at the clinic has been courteous, professional, timely with return calls, etc. They have done what they said they would (call back, provide additional information, etc.) when they said they would. I have had a very positive experience thus far. My mother also came to the initial consult, and she is a patient liaison (nurse) for a large hospital system in the Texas Medical Center, and understands professionalism in the medical care context, and she fully agrees with my sentiment about the professionalism and care exhibited.
Describe the costs associated with your care under James Nodler at CCRM Houston/Houston IVF.
Too early, but they seem in line with other clinics. All of the cost options were thoroughly explained and laid out in specific packets of information based on the treatment options.
Describe James Nodler's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at CCRM Houston/Houston IVF.
None - not applicable yet. Though I did ask and confirm that Dr. Nodler has a preference for eset, which is in line with my preference as well.

Dr. Nodler has been kind. He has listened to and answered all my questions. He has also provided different protocols, which I appreciate...I have done 2 eff retrievals since I have a low egg count. We are currently in the process of transferring the only embryo we have...He is very straightforward, so be prepared for that...He recommends only using one embryo at a time...We used the antagonist protocol. Since I have a low egg count, he recommended that protocol since it is more aggressive
I love CCRM. They are organized, clean, and efficient. I have never waited more than 10 minutes. Every time I have called or needed something, they have been very proactive about answering all my concerns. Even the financial department has been very easy to work with so far....Jenny [a nurse] has been very responsive, organized, and helpful. She has answered every email and question I have had.

Describe the protocols James Nodler used in your cycles at CCRM Houston/Houston IVF and their degree of success.
We used the antagonist protocol. Since I have a low egg count, he recommended that protocol since it is more aggressive. We had a failed cycle with only 1 embryo that tested abnormal. If the transfer with the only embryo we had from our first cycle is unsuccessful, he suggested using another protocol, which we will try.

Dr. Nodler took the time to individualize my treatment and also included me in the process of creating a treatment plan...He treated me skillfully but also with compassion...Don’t expect to be coddled. He’s realistic and pragmatic, and that sometimes means hearing something you might not want to...we did another natural transfer with letrozole, and that time I added in Gonal injections and an Ovidrel trigger to thicken my lining. That successfully thickened my lining to 7.6mm and resulted in a pregnancy.
The doctors and nursing staff at CCRM are generally great, although the Gessner location can feel less personal. The Med Center location staff is generally politer and happier and will all know you by name...CCRM’s one downfall is the billing department, which is abysmal. I have routinely received bills for services I either didn’t have or shouldn’t have been charged for, told the wrong information regarding when and how much was due for a cycle, and have had an absolute nightmare of a time getting billing issues resolved...
How was your experience with James Nodler at CCRM Houston/Houston IVF?
I cannot rave about Dr. Nodler highly enough. He really gave the impression that he cared about me as a person and as a patient and was personally invested in seeing me succeed. He was willing to personalize my treatment even if it meant additional monitoring and weekend appointments. He also made sure that I was taken care of when I needed care between cycles and on occasions when I had issues with the billing department. He treated me skillfully but also with compassion. At the same time, he did not sugarcoat or just tell me things I wanted to hear, but made sure that I had full understanding even if the news wasn’t desirable.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of James Nodler at CCRM Houston/Houston IVF?
Don’t expect to be coddled. He’s realistic and pragmatic, and that sometimes means hearing something you might not want to.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with James Nodler at CCRM Houston/Houston IVF?
Care was personalized to me. Dr. Nodler took the time to individualize my treatment and also included me in the process of creating a treatment plan. When our second transfer resulted in a miscarriage, he called me personally to express condolences and to check on me. He also called me personally to check on me when a transfer cycle was cancelled due to covid closures.
Describe the protocols James Nodler used in your cycles at CCRM Houston/Houston IVF and their degree of success.
All three retrievals were a microdose lupron protocol with minimal birth control priming. I responded slowly but well and they resulted in 2, 2, and 4 viable embryos respectively. First transfer was a standard hormone replacement therapy frozen transfer. It was delayed a week due to thin lining and resulted in a failure. Second transfer using the same protocol was cancelled due to covid. Third transfer using the same protocol resulted in an allergic reaction to estrogen patches, so I switched to oral estrace. That transfer was delayed a week and then cancelled due to thin lining. For the fourth transfer attempt, Dr. Nodler suggested a natural cycle with letrozole. Although I responded well and ovulated naturally, that transfer was cancelled due to thin lining. For the fifth transfer attempt, Dr. Nodler allowed me to continue with a natural protocol plus letrozole because I found that I preferred it to the HRT. That was my second actual transfer, which we moved forward with even though lining was at 5.7mm, and it resulted in a pregnancy. That pregnancy ended in a missed miscarriage. Dr. Nodler performed a D&C at weeks. For my sixth transfer attempt, we did another natural transfer with letrozole, and that time I added in Gonal injections and an Ovidrel trigger to thicken my lining. That successfully thickened my lining to 7.6mm and resulted in a pregnancy.
Describe your experience with your nurse at CCRM Houston/Houston IVF. (Assigned nurse: Amelia)
The nursing staff overall is excellent. Early on, I was reassigned from my original nurse (who was fantastic) because my nurse went on maternity leave and ultimately graduated from an advanced nursing program and left the clinic. My second nurse was less organized and not as good of a personality fit, so Dr. Nodler requested that I be reassigned to Amelia, who is the med center location’s head nurse. Amelia is super responsive - returns calls and emails very quickly and very thoroughly. She has answered any and all questions I’ve ever come up with and has talked me through any concerns I may have. She’s fantastic at what she does.
Describe your experience with CCRM Houston/Houston IVF.
The doctors and nursing staff at CCRM are generally great, although the Gessner location can feel less personal. The Med Center location staff is generally politer and happier and will all know you by name, whereas I found the staff at Gessner more curt and less personable. CCRM’s one downfall is the billing department, which is abysmal. I have routinely received bills for services I either didn’t have or shouldn’t have been charged for, told the wrong information regarding when and how much was due for a cycle, and have had an absolute nightmare of a time getting billing issues resolved. Ultimately a manager got involved and resolved my issues, but I know that my experience was NOT unique.
Describe the costs associated with your care under James Nodler at CCRM Houston/Houston IVF.
Roughly $15,000 per retrieval and $3500 per transfer, not including meds.

Dr. Nodler was both compassionate and effective as my physician. I had a very challenging diagnosis and he was honest with me from the beginning about the likelihood of success/me achieving pregnancy...When treatment outcomes didn't go as planned, he always reached out to discuss the next steps...He listened to everything I had been through, thoroughly reviewed all of my previous test results, and included me and my opinions when developing my treatment plan.
The entire CCRM administrative and nursing staff is phenomenal - very professional, compassionate, and efficient...They work around your schedule when making appointments (including blood draws) and are very thoughtful when creating individual treatment plans. How was your experience with James Nodler at CCRM Houston/Houston IVF?
Dr. Nodler was both compassionate and effective as my physician. I had a very challenging diagnosis and he was honest with me from the beginning about the likelihood of success/me achieving pregnancy. When I wanted to speed up the timeline, he worked with his team to make that happen. When treatment outcomes didn't go as planned, he always reached out to discuss the next steps. I had never had a male OB/physician before, but I completely trust Dr. Nodler and think he has excellent bedside manner in addition to being a great physician.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of James Nodler at CCRM Houston/Houston IVF?
Don't hesitate to make your appointment!
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with James Nodler at CCRM Houston/Houston IVF?
Dr. Nodler heard about my previous poor experience with a different IVF clinic and quickly scheduled me for an initial consult the following week. He listened to everything I had been through, thoroughly reviewed all of my previous test results, and included me and my opinions when developing my treatment plan.

Dr. Nodler has always been kind, informative, and very real with us. He recommends what he feels is best, but he also always responds in a very validating way if we have concerns, or if we feel like we should do something a little differently. He has never made us feel like any question asked were dumb. He takes the time to answer all questions and never makes us feel rushed in any appointments.
I've had a great experience with the doctor and the nurses [at CCRM Houston\Houston IVF]. With the front staff, sometimes we got a little frustrated trying to get the financial people to get back to us in a timely manner, but in the end everything has worked out just fine. The front desk staff are also sometimes seemingly a little out of the loop...Monitored clomid cycle - $700 Monitored clomid cycle with IUI - $1300 IVF retrieval without CCS ~$14,000 Frozen transfer cycle ~$4,000
How was your experience with James Nodler at CCRM Houston/Houston IVF?
Dr. Nodler is energetic and really easy to talk to. He's always made us feel really welcome and comfortable in his office. He explains things really well and doesn't mind taking time to elaborate if you need more information. I was referred to him first for a needed surgery to resect a septum in my uterus. My surgery experience with him was fantastic - he visited me before I got anesthesia and chatted with us to make sure we were doing okay. After my surgery he came out and spent time with my husband explaining how everything went and answering his questions. One time, I scheduled an appointment thinking I was coming in for a hysteroscopy surgery follow up appointment following the beginning of my next cycle, but apparently the lady who scheduled me didn't understand exactly the type of appointment I needed. I don't think I explained it very well on the phone. So when they brought me back, they took me to his office and he was just there waiting for me and asked me what was up and was totally open and ready to talk to me - not knowing why I scheduled the appt but ready to help me out with whatever I needed! When I explained why I was there he was like, "Oh, great! Yeah no problem! We'll get you right back!" He didn't make me feel stupid at all for miscommunicating, and I just thought it was really cool that he was so relaxed and kind and understanding despite the mix up. I didn't see it as a mistake the office made, I saw it more as good adaptation on his and his staff's part to something unexpected coming up. After I was completely recovered from surgery and we were cleared to start fertility treatment, he gave us the pros and cons of medication alone vs. IUI vs. IVF. He was informative and was okay to do whatever we felt was best. We really didn't feel pressured. We did one cycle of Clomid alone and one IUI cycle. Although they didn't work, I felt good about the overall experience and the care we received. We will likely be moving on to IVF later this year and he has already been really informative and helpful throughout our preparation process.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of James Nodler at CCRM Houston/Houston IVF?
Come prepared with your questions ready. He will be happy to answer all of them, but you should be ready beforehand.

I've interacted with a lot of nurses at this clinic and have thought they were all very friendly and good at what they do. They are super responsive and helpful when I call or email with questions or need things like prescriptions call in quickly. I don't hesitate to reach out to them when I need something. They've always made me feel really comfortable in the clinic as well.

I've had a great experience with the doctor and the nurses. With the front staff, sometimes we got a little frustrated trying to get the financial people to get back to us in a timely manner, but in the end everything has worked out just fine. The front desk staff are also sometimes seemingly a little out of the loop - I have often been in communication with the nurses and sometimes made changes to appointments that apparently the front people weren't informed about so the called me saying I missed an appointment when really I had had the nurse reschedule me. That only happened once, so it's definitely not the norm. I feel like the nurses are more friendly than the receptionists, so I prefer to deal with them instead, but the people at the front are good too. No real problems.

Describe James Nodler's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at CCRM Houston/Houston IVF.
We haven't done IVF yet but are planning to later this year. Because we are young (26), he said he will not transfer more than one embryo to start. I believe that he is willing to with older patients or patients who need improved odds. For us, at least to start, he said it was not an option to do multiples. Which we were fine with.

Just once - I didn't have anymore refills for my trigger shot but the nurse thought I had one more so she didn't call it it. It wasn't until just a few days before I needed it that I learned that it hadn't been called in. They were super apologetic and got it done really fast for me! So it all worked out. I know it was just a human mistake.

[Dr. Nodler] took time to explain things both before and during procedures. I always felt I had time to ask questions...Ended up with six normal embryos, so only had a single retrieval cycle...Responded well, transferred one, and now pregnant with a singleton...Detailed, thorough and direct in his explanations. Presented a clear point of view on different treatment options, which really helped cut through the noise and confusion. I always felt like we had a defined direction and were moving forward.
Senae [nurse at CCRM Houston] was great throughout! Always promptly returned phone calls and emails and was knowledgeable on the various questions throughout the process...don’t recall ever having to wait more than 5 or 10 minutes to be seen. The Memorial City location, where weekend appointments are held, is more busy on those weekends, so you might have to wait slightly longer for blood draws.

Describe the protocols James Nodler used in your cycles at CCRM Houston/Houston IVF and their degree of success.
Antagonist protocol with combo trigger. I think this is relatively standard for a first cycle and mild PCOS. I responded well to the meds, so was able to stay at the starting gonal f and menopur doses throughout stimming. We did ICSI as we wanted genetic testing and the lab required ICSI to do CCS testing. Ended up with six normal embryos, so only had a single retrieval cycle. FET protocol included birth control, estrogen patches, Lupron, and progesterone suppositories and shots. Responded well, transferred one, and now pregnant with a singleton.

Describe your experience with CCRM Houston/Houston IVF.
Everything runs pretty smoothly at the Fannin office. Never a crowd in the waiting room. I was always in and out very quickly. Procedures are at the Memorial City location. Nurses who assist with procedures make you feel in good hands. Doctors are accessible and my assigned nurse kept me organized and on track. We didn’t interact much with the financial office, so can’t speak to that. Overall, very pleased with our care.
Describe your experience with your monitoring appointments at CCRM Houston/Houston IVF.
Usually there were only one or two others in the waiting room in the Fannin location for blood draws and ultrasounds. I don’t recall ever having to wait more than 5 or 10 minutes to be seen. The Memorial City location, where weekend appointments are held, is more busy on those weekends, so you might have to wait slightly longer for blood draws. Still, those appointments were always very fast and efficient.

Microdose Lupron protocol [with Dr. Nodler] - no embryos to freeze. Immediately followed by antagonist protocol with 3 Pgs tested embryos to freeze. Had 3 failed fets. 2 eras and a receptiva test...It would have been nice to hear from my doc personally after retrievals, transfers etc as a check in...he isn’t willing to implement interventions that aren’t well studied or proven...was always Courteous and friendly. He took the time to listen and gave thoughtful responses to all our queries...We didn’t have success with Dr Nodler but we would recommend him 10/10.

How was your experience with James Nodler at CCRM Houston/Houston IVF?
We didn’t have success with Dr Nodler but we would recommend him 10/10. He is intelligent, up to date, and runs a very strict evidence based practice. He definitely does not treat you like a Guinea pig. That being said, he isn’t willing to implement interventions that aren’t well studied or proven... but I definitely prefer this science based approach to the experimental (and frankly, cavalier) approach seen at many other area clinics
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of James Nodler at CCRM Houston/Houston IVF?
I would follow his recommendations. He is well aware of the data and will guide you accordingly. If you are wanting something experimental or way outside the normal confines of ivf treatment, I would suggest going elsewhere. In Houston- he is definitely the doc I recommend

I've found Dr. Nodler is always happy to provide more information or explain his thought process...I have a high AMH and was prescribed clomid only (no injectables). Monitoring was overseen by Dr. Nodler, but the actual IUI was performed by the nurses...smart, kind and strikes the right balance of setting realistic expectations but also providing hope. He has good attention to detail and really seems to care about his patients' outcomes. I like that he practices evidence based medicine, but this means his protocols/approach may sometimes feel less holistic (not a lot of time spent discussing supplements and other TBD ART supports)
I have interacted with all 4 REIs [at and believe they are all very skilled and up-to-date physicians who care about their patients... I had better than expected outcomes (100% fertilization of mature eggs 13/13 and good blastocyst rate 9/13, 70%). I wish they paid as much detail to patients' IUI cycles as they do IVF, but understand that IUI is a much less controlled and lower cost procedure, so it makes sense that IVF cycles are prioritized. That said, if someone's goal is to conceive via IUI and to really avoid moving on to IVF, this may not be the clinic for you.
How was your experience with James Nodler at CCRM Houston/Houston IVF?
Dr. Nodler is smart, kind and strikes the right balance of setting realistic expectations but also providing hope. He has good attention to detail and really seems to care about his patients' outcomes. I like that he practices evidence based medicine, but this means his protocols/approach may sometimes feel less holistic (not a lot of time spent discussing supplements and other TBD ART supports). I thankfully haven't had any major disappointments to date, so can't comment on how he might adjust/personalize protocols in the event of disappointing outcomes.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of James Nodler at CCRM Houston/Houston IVF?
Ask questions and share any concerns you have- I've found Dr. Nodler is always happy to provide more information or explain his thought process.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with James Nodler at CCRM Houston/Houston IVF?
Dr. Nodler and his nursing staff (Amelia and Erin) have all been warm, available and encouraging to date. I like to know exactly what's going on at each step of the process and they always seem happy to answer my questions. I am also prone to negativity and Dr. Nodler and Amelia have been so kind- they are realistic but offer regular reassurance where it is due.
Describe the protocols James Nodler used in your cycles at CCRM Houston/Houston IVF and their degree of success.
IUI was really managed by the nurses. I have a high AMH and was prescribed clomid only (no injectables). Monitoring was overseen by Dr. Nodler, but the actual IUI was performed by the nurses. I had a different nurse each time, and no specific point person if I had questions during the cycle (just had to call the nurse line). I didn't feel like IUI cycles were a priority for this clinic. My experience was totally different once we moved on to IVF. IVF patients are assigned a specific nurse and this makes communication much easier. Monitoring ultrasounds were done by Dr. Nolder (or the REI covering for him if he was not available). I was prescribed gonal-f (150), menopur (150) and cetrotide. I responded well to meds and my protocol did not need to be adjusted. I did a dual trigger with lurpon to avoid OHSS. We did ICSI as that is standard for my clinic (and as we used frozen donor sperm). We retrieved 16 eggs, 13 mature, 13 fertilized, 9 day 5/6 blasts, 4/9 normal CCS/PGS results. Recovery from the egg retrieval was easy and fast. Our first FET cycle is currently in process.
Describe your experience with your nurse at CCRM Houston/Houston IVF. (Assigned nurse: Amelia)
Amelia is smart and responsive. I do think she is a very busy person, and I sometimes felt bad asking extra questions, but she always responded to me same day. I found emailing her was sometimes easier than playing phone tag.
Describe your experience with CCRM Houston/Houston IVF.
Houston IVF/ CCRM-Houston may be a bit more expensive than other clinics in the area but I think it is worth the costs. I have interacted with all 4 REIs and believe they are all very skilled and up-to-date physicians who care about their patients. I also think the lab is superior to many other clinics in Houston. To summarize: smart and personable REIs and nurses, a great lab and a comfortable and convenient physical space (I used both the med center and memorial city locations).
Describe the costs associated with your care under James Nodler at CCRM Houston/Houston IVF.
IUI: $1,300 per cycle (including all monitoring) IVF (PGS with FET): $20,630 (included all monitoring, CCS/PGS and first FET), NOT including medications
Describe James Nodler's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at CCRM Houston/Houston IVF.
I personally feel very strongly about eSET and Dr. Nolder was aware of this from the beginning so multiple embryo transfer was never a conversation we had. I do believe this clinic does more multiple embryo transfers than is ideal because they are quick to honor patient wishes and I think many patients ask for multiple embryo transfer.

[With Dr. James Nodler] We first did our blood work and scans and I had a minor septum so we did surgery on that. We then started with 3 IUIs using Letrozole, which didn’t worked. My insurance covered three which is why we did 3 but that is also normal protocol. We then moved to IVF using Menopur and Follistim. Our goal was a fresh cycle but I had over stimulation so we froze the eggs, 4. 3 tested normal during PGS and one was unknown.
Houston IVF can be big so I recommend the med center location. They have great resources so use them all - therapy, acupuncture, etc. You do have to go to the memorial city location for all big procedures.... I was scheduled to do our egg retrieval starting in November and once my period finally started I was told the lab would be closed for cleaning in December so we had to wait a cycle.
How was your experience with James Nodler at CCRM Houston/Houston IVF?
Dr. Nodler is really knowledgeable and really nice. Sometimes, though, I felt like he wasn’t putting the research into our case. It was “unexplained infertility” and move to IVF instead of figuring out the cause of our infertility that could maybe be fixed by diet, supplements, or lifestyle changes. He has been great though, especially since the many failures and setbacks we have had, even calling me personally after we lost our baby at 10 weeks to unknown issues.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of James Nodler at CCRM Houston/Houston IVF?
Ask lots of questions and request all the details.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with James Nodler at CCRM Houston/Houston IVF?
What is great about Dr. Nodler is that he is at the Houston IVF Med center location so it is more intimate, he does his own ultrasounds, and knows who you are. The Memorial City location is big and you can feel like a number over there.

Our goal was a fresh cycle but I had over stimulation so we froze the eggs, 4. 3 tested normal during PGS and one was unknown. We then did a FET once my body got back to normal. FET 1 worked but at 10 weeks we had to terminate due to the growth of the organs outside the fetus body. It was never determined if that was genetic related. Have a long recovery from the D&C we did FET 2 which ended in a chemical pregnancy at 6 weeks. Currently waiting to start FET 3. All FETs have been the same protocol: 3 weeks birth control, lupron, estrogen patches, PIO, and progesterone suppositories.

IUIs, labs, egg retrieval and FET 1 were covered by insurance so I paid 20% until my $500 deductible. FET 2 was $4,500.
Describe James Nodler's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at CCRM Houston/Houston IVF.
I wanted to transfer 2 the first time but he wanted one as it is statistically better and safer. It didn’t work. For the 2nd FET I again pushed for two but he wanted one so we did one. We now have two embryos left so we are finally transferring two during FET 3.

Dr James Nodler is attentive, caring and kind.... My egg retrieval, fertilization and blastocyst results improved with Dr Nodler. I believe that this is the result of the protocol that Dr Nodler put me on. I transferred 2 PGS embryos, and both failed to implant. In the follow up, there were no explanations of why, just many possibilities. He suggested that I do an ERA (which I am doing) or use a gestational carrier. I am hoping for a more conservation solution.
The strengths are the doctors and their affiliation with CCRM. In every appointment in which I saw Dr Nodler he asked if I had any questions. At that point, I could ask any question I had, whether it had to do with this particular appointment or something else. Procedures are performed by any doctor within the practice. Initially I was concerned about this, but it wasn't an issue at all. The weaknesses are the on call staff, billing department and their fees which are higher than other clinics.

Dr James Nodler is attentive, caring and kind.
Describe the protocols James Nodler used in your cycles at CCRM Houston/Houston IVF and their degree of success.
For simulations, Dr Nodler used the antagonist protocol. It worked well. I do not know why he chose that particular protocol. Our main issue is male factor resulting from Robertsonian Translocation 13/14. He recommended CCS to screen all 46 chromosomes for abnormalities.
Describe your experience with your nurse at CCRM Houston/Houston IVF. (Assigned nurse: Amelia Silva)
My primary nurse Amelia was great and responsive, when she was in the office. When she was out of the office, it was difficult to get a response, or I got no response at all. The on call nursing staff needs to improve their communication style with the patients. They are timely in their response times; however, there responses can be short and seemingly irritated. And if you miss their call, or have a follow up question, they get upset. Since cost of treatment is out of pocket, many patients will attempt to get some procedures covered by their insurance. The billing department is very slow to respond and requires multiple follow ups to get required information.

On weekends and holidays, you have to go to their main location in Memorial City which is 30 miles from my home (60 round-trip). I had an appointment at 7:30 am on Dec 26. I paid higher fees to fly home from my family holiday on Dec 25 to make this appointment, but the office was closed. I waited there for 2 hours before the on call nurse told me they were closed.

Dr Noddler without hesitation answered all of my questions and had a very sophisticated approached to my treatment. He was also lighthearted when needed and serious when necessary. I really enjoy being his patient...I have a very high AMH so my antagonist protocol had to be very closely monitored... He tailored my program to stimulate me enough to get good quality eggs, but not so much to cause me an discomfort.
The expression "you get what you pay for" is a perfect one for this clinic [CCRM Houston]. It is a little bit more expensive than my previous one, but the amount of attention and personal service you get is worth every penny!...There are not enough superlative adjectives to describe how amazing Amelia has been with me. I am a super type A pain in the butt and never once did I feel like she was annoyed with me. She is so knowledgeable and kind, and funny and light hearted but serious when needed. She is truly the best and I wouldn't want to do this journey without her.
How was your experience with James Nodler at CCRM Houston/Houston IVF?
The first thing I liked about Dr Noddler is how smart he was and how informed he seemed about the most up to date information. I consider myself an intelligent woman, so I went into our relationship having concerns and things I wanted clarification on. Dr Noddler without hesitation answered all of my questions and had a very sophisticated approached to my treatment. He was also lighthearted when needed and serious when necessary. I really enjoy being his patient.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of James Nodler at CCRM Houston/Houston IVF?
Dr Noddler and his nurse use a very black and white protocol. The patient needs to know that every step of their plan is being carefully put together for each patient's best result
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with James Nodler at CCRM Houston/Houston IVF?
Doctor Noddler always greeted me by name, remembered conversations from previous meetings and always cared about what I had to say. He never rushed me out of the office and answered every question I had without problem.
Describe the protocols James Nodler used in your cycles at CCRM Houston/Houston IVF and their degree of success.
I have a very high AMH so my antagonist protocol had to be very closely monitored. The reason I switched to Houston IVF and Dr Noddler is because my previous clinic and Dr over stimulated me so badly that I ended up with severe OHSS. To the point I had to have my belly drained. This was my biggest concern when I first met with Dr Noddler, and he took my concerns very seriously. He tailored my program to stimulate me enough to get good quality eggs, but not so much to cause me an discomfort. With a perfect cocktail of drugs, I was able to produce 26 eggs, 16 fertilized, and 9 grew to 5 day blasts. out of those 9, 3 were graded 5AA the highest quality egg possible. I am currently still in treatment. I've had my 5 day blast frozen embryo transfer 4 days ago, so I can't comment if it worked, but so far this has been the best experience I could have hoped for.

Describe your experience with CCRM Houston/Houston IVF.
The expression "you get what you pay for" is a perfect one for this clinic. It is a little bit more expensive than my previous one, but the amount of attention and personal service you get is worth every penny!

Describe James Nodler's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at CCRM Houston/Houston IVF.
I demanded that I have an eSET because I'm petrified of having twins. I was lucky that I fit in the perameter of those that qualify to have eSET

Success w/ Doc Too early to know
So far I have been very happy with Dr. Nodler. He is honest but gentle for the most part in his approach. He seems very knowledgeable and came very recommended. I did a lot of research for going to him, and many of his patients were very happy with him as a doctor. Dr. Nodler didn't seem like he is in a rush, he took all of our questions every time we met with him in his office. He has also done one procedure and was very gentle and caring.
The office [CCRM Houston/Houston IVF] has peaceful music playing when you walk in. The front office person always greets you. They help put your mind at ease. Everyone there is nice and helpful. I like that the office doesn't feel busy and overbooked. There are usually just a few couples in the lobby.... You usually have to leave a detailed message, and she gets back with you the same day or the next morning. She is very knowledgeable.

Dr.Nodler has all the merits on paper. He was referred to us by my husbands urologist. But he lacks compassion. When I explained to him that we couldn’t afford this procedure of 18K with my husband being in school and only myself working. He said to come back when ready.... Even after this cycle failed he didn’t seem to go thru the explanation of the failure. A year later, I came across an embryologist and showed her the pictures of the embryos my clinic transferred.
This place [Houston IVF] is for people who has the money to shell out. It’s very fancy and high end looking place with state of the are technology. They have two locations one in fannin and other in gessner. If your insurance covers fertility treatment worth trying with other doctors here.... Amelia is an amazing nurse. She is so compassionate and listens to you. I was so overwhelmed with all the information on ivf and this was our first time. I had no clue about injections, drawing medicine , poking myself

Dr.Nodler has all the merits on paper. He was referred to us by my husbands urologist. But he lacks compassion. When I explained to him that we couldn’t afford this procedure of 18K with my husband being in school and only myself working. He said to come back when ready. But I pushed ourselves and found means to borrow money from family. Even after this cycle failed he didn’t seem to go thru the explanation of the failure. A year later, I came across an embryologist and showed her the pictures of the embryos my clinic transferred. In one look she said they were really poor stage and should have done laser on them to help with implantation. At the time of transfer there was no talking and I could sense they were guilty of something. I asked what stage is it. It wasn’t even a blastocyst on day 5 and they still transferred them.

During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with James Nodler at CCRM Houston/Houston IVF?
After a free of years of trying to conceive, my husbands pcp noticed he had varicocoele. Hence the urologist who did the surgery referred us to Dr.Nolder. He was knowledgeable but lacked in explaining why we failed the cycle. I did the whole 9 yard testing and there seems to be no issue expect low speed count of my hubby. He promised with icsi we would see good results. Even though when I explained to him how we were financially not there yet to pay the 18K since my husband was in school at that time. All this happened during Harvey and driving thru the flood to get to the appts. Even during embryos transfer the embryologist and the doctor never explained what stage the embryos are at etc. never got a call back for a status update on how the remaining embryos were doing. Our experience was really bad with this clinic in regards to the reasoning behind the failure. At last all he said was come back when we are ready and have the money. We can’t afgird another one as we are still paying off the debt of the first one.

Dr Nodler took the time to get a thorough history of my infertility journey. He made clear what results I could expect from various procedures. He spoke freely about statistics, allowing me to have a realistic understanding of my chances of success.... James Nodler is an excellent doctor. After many years of infertility, we had great success under his care. I have twins, conceived on the first round of IVF. My experience was positive; every visit and procedure went very smoothly.
Weakness: somewhat hard to reach via phone- lots of transferring or leaving messages for a call back. Strengths: blood work in house was very convenient, nice and clean facility and short wait times. Lobby staff [CCRM Houston] was always friendly.... Dr Nodler explained all our options and we all (Dr Nodler, my husband and myself) felt comfortable with an IVF cycle. Ultrasounds were done to assess my uterus, ovaries and eggs. Blood work was done to screen for other potential issues that would prevent conceiving.

We did chromosomal testing on the embryos. We elected to transfer 2 embryos, understanding that chromasomally normal embryos would have a higher chance of implementing with no issues to follow. We understood that our chances of twins would be higher.

Success w/ Doc Not sure
Dr. Nodler took the time to explain the process and go over our test results in detail so we knew what what was going on and what to expect for the future....Always be open, honest and ask as many questions as you can. He is very professional and personable and takes the time to answer all of your questions....We are still currently in the process of treatments as we recently had a failed IUI and are now starting our IVF treatment. So far, everything has gone smoothly and we have been well-informed on the process of IUI/IVF.
Only weakness I could see is that it's really hard to get a hold of a person [at Houston IVF], you have to always leave a message. They do respond back typically within a few hours so the wait time isn't too long...My insurance covered three rounds of IUI and one round of IVF. Currently do not know the final cost of IVF...Dr. Nodler took the time to explain the process and go over our test results in detail so we knew what what was going on and what to expect for the future.
