Dr. Dorais knew that I had low egg supply, and so she made sure to do a mini-IVF where I did not need as many medications as a full IVF cycle, knowing from past experience that I simply can't produce as many eggs as a typical woman. She was very careful to let me know the risks and limitations of my condition...[she] strongly advises not to transfer multiple embryos
UFC Murray is a beautiful, clean, and conveniently located clinic. It's easy to get into and they usually don't have long waits to see the doctors. I do have to travel to Pleasant Grove for the actual procedures such as retrievals and transfers, but that has not been difficult and has been a great experience as well...Approximately $5,000 for a mini IVF, for people with low egg reserve.
How was your experience with Jessie Dorais at Utah Fertility Center?
I have already recommended her to my best friend - she in fact has an appointment with her next week! Dr. Dorais is the best, hands down. She will always be a bright spot in the memories of my fertility journey.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Jessie Dorais at Utah Fertility Center?
Don't be afraid to tell her your concerns and what you really want to achieve. She listens and will take what you say very seriously.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Jessie Dorais at Utah Fertility Center?
Dr. Dorais is the kindest, most amazing doctor I have ever visited. She listens with empathy, feeling, and real understanding. She knows every detail of your chart and history and remembers it all without even referring to notes. She cares so much and I felt extremely important to her.
Describe the protocols Jessie Dorais used in your cycles at Utah Fertility Center and their degree of success.
Dr. Dorais knew that I had low egg supply, and so she made sure to do a mini-IVF where I did not need as many medications as a full IVF cycle, knowing from past experience that I simply can't produce as many eggs as a typical woman. She was very careful to let me know the risks and limitations of my condition. I was able to achieve a pregnancy of one child this way. My daughter has Down syndrome, which has been unbelievably wonderful. There are so many ways to be a parent, and if you open your heart, your world will change! We did not do PGS testing, and I am so glad we didn't! I didn't have that many embryos, only two made it, and if we had tested my daughter, she would not be here. We would have discarded her embryo and potentially never been parents. Instead, we are parents to the most delightful, capable, loving, and fun 15-month old daughter. She has changed our lives.
Describe your experience with your nurse at Utah Fertility Center. (Assigned nurse: Katrina)
A mix of typical office staff. Sometimes they forget to return calls, but more often than not they are wonderful.
Describe your experience with Utah Fertility Center.

I do have to travel to Pleasant Grove for the actual procedures such as retrievals and transfers, but that has not been difficult and has been a great experience as well. These clinics do allow you to bring other children to appointments, which is great if you already have one child but can be a bummer if you are childless and are faced with waiting to see a fertility doctor while watching another mom there with her 3 kids.
Describe the costs associated with your care under Jessie Dorais at Utah Fertility Center.
Approximately $5,000 for a mini IVF, for people with low egg reserve.
Describe Jessie Dorais's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Utah Fertility Center.
Dr. Dorais strongly advises not to transfer multiple embryos. We only transferred one. We agreed with this guidance. There has been a trend toward twins that we wisely avoided. Many people have them and it works out fine, but it places so much stress on the first year of life, and on pregnancy. We really wish more people would be strong and not let the attention they think having twins will get them, override the desire to have a healthy and lower stress pregnancy and first year of life.
What specific things went wrong at Utah Fertility Center?

Describe the specific things that went wrong at Utah Fertility Center.
They forgot to call me the day of my second blood test to determine if my pregnancy was continuing, or failing. However, it was during the time of COVID and things were much more frantic than usual.

Success w/ Doc Too early to know
Dr. Dorais took the time to listen to me, answer my questions, and provide more information than anyone ever had before. She presented our options as true options, rather than just deciding our course for us...When I had to have an HSG and it didn’t work due to my uterus cramping too hard, Dr. Dorais made sure that the procedure was repeated at no cost, with medications to make it go more smoothly in order to get an accurate test and not just guess with my treatment
They’re VERY responsive [at Utah Fertility Center]. Calls can sometimes be shoddy but I think that has more to do with the phones themselves, not the staff. When the phones are down or too busy, they are excellent about responding to texts or messages on the patient portal. I don’t think it’s ever taken more than an hour for them to respond to me, even about little questions...Everyone has been so compassionate and I feel like they genuinely care
How was your experience with Jessie Dorais at Utah Fertility Center?
Dr. Dorais was super kind and informative during our consultation. She explained things in a way that made sense but didn’t make me feel belittled. She seems like she truly cares about what we want and is really there for us and wants to help us. When I had to have an HSG and it didn’t work due to my uterus cramping too hard, Dr. Dorais made sure that the procedure was repeated at no cost, with medications to make it go more smoothly in order to get an accurate test and not just guess with my treatment. We are on the middle of our first IVF cycle and are (so far) beyond happy with Dr. Dorais.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Jessie Dorais at Utah Fertility Center?
Go see her. She truly is on your side, ready to help.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Jessie Dorais at Utah Fertility Center?
Dr. Dorais took the time to listen to me, answer my questions, and provide more information than anyone ever had before. She presented our options as true options, rather than just deciding our course for us. We trust her to tell us her opinion, but know that she will still value ours when making our protocol.
Describe the protocols Jessie Dorais used in your cycles at Utah Fertility Center and their degree of success.
We have our appointment to discuss protocols in a few days so I don’t know (yet)!
Describe your experience with your nurse at Utah Fertility Center. (Assigned nurse: Sam)
Everyone has been so compassionate and I feel like they genuinely care. I had a really hard time with the HSG, but they all made sure I knew they were there for me. They all checked in on me several times throughout the rest of the appointment and even called me later that evening to make sure I was ok. Overall, I’ve felt more myself than I thought I would starting IVF because they’ve been interested in ME, not just my hope for a baby. Love them all.

Describe the costs associated with your care under Jessie Dorais at Utah Fertility Center.
Total cycle will be right around $30,000, but we opted for all the bells and whistles. Cycle ONLY cost: Freeze-all cycle (risk of OHSS) is about $12,500, not including outside testing of embryos, medications, tests, ICSI, etc.

I don’t see my doctor [Dr. Dorais] more than once or twice during an IVF cycle. We talk in the phone periodically through the cycle but she doesn’t do my exams. ...She prefers 1 embryo, but with my case she is willing to discuss and consider multiple embryo transfers depending on the situation when we get there...She is a great listener. She is great at discussing all the details and options and scenarios and answering my questions in depth.
I’ve been very impressed with the nurse/care coordinators and nursing staff [at Utah Fertility Center]. All have been cheerful, helpful, positive, detailed, and organized...excellent staff - organized - i never wait more than 10 minutes for my appointment; 90% of the time I’m taken back right on schedule - i have never felt like a cow being herded in the crowd in the office. ..A fresh cycle is $8,000. If it’s cancelled before egg retrieval, you don’t have to pay that amount again to try again, except for medications and blood draws.
How was your experience with Jessie Dorais at Utah Fertility Center?
I appreciate how knowledgeable and current Dr Dorais is on the information and studies within the infertility community. And because of that i highly trust her. She is a great listener. She is great at discussing all the details and options and scenarios and answering my questions in depth. I appreciate her expertise and good judgement. She works hard to be absolutely clear and transparent in her communications.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Jessie Dorais at Utah Fertility Center?
Ask questions. Dr Dorais knows so much and really wants to help!
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Jessie Dorais at Utah Fertility Center?
She is compassionate and kind and I can feel how much she cares and is invested in my case.
Describe the protocols Jessie Dorais used in your cycles at Utah Fertility Center and their degree of success.
We tried antagonist protocols, an agonist protocol, etc. Each cycle we tried a different approach with the medications in hopes of one of them being the ticket to success. I’ve done IVF a lot so we were hoping for better results by doing something different.

Describe your experience with Utah Fertility Center.
Weaknesses: - i don’t see my doctor more than once or twice during an IVF cycle. We talk in the phone periodically through the cycle but she doesn’t do my exams. I know the NPs doing it are qualified, i just would prefer my doctor see me firsthand in my exams. Strengths: - excellent staff - organized - i never wait more than 10 minutes for my appointment; 90% of the time I’m taken back right on schedule - i have never felt like a cow being herded in the crowd in the office. Many times i feel like I’m the only patients when i know I’m not and it is in fact busy - they work hard to keep patients separate for privacy -everyone has been so easy to work with and so helpful
Describe the costs associated with your care under Jessie Dorais at Utah Fertility Center.
A fresh cycle is $8,000. If it’s cancelled before egg retrieval, you don’t have to pay that amount again to try again, except for medications and blood draws. Medications have been $10-12,000 per cycle; we’ve done 3 cycles. Anesthesia is $500 for egg retrieval. Blood draws are about $200-300 per cycle. We did 3 IVF cycles.

Success w/ Doc Too early to know
Dorais is my number one! She is literally the nicest person I have ever met. She is brilliant and so reliable and has so much knowledge about this. Her patience is 100%, and she will answer every SINGLE question you have until you understand. She explains things in a manner that makes sense to people not in the industry. She is solid in her suggestions and support. If there is something that you are concerned with, she will let you know every outcome no matter the severity.
UFC I feel like is helpful but mostly is trying to hit a quota. Everyone is nice and helpful but I believe there is a protocol that they have that isn't necessarily my preference...I liked that every nurse was able to help instead of one specific nurse being assigned to a doctor. They did always move quickly with getting back to me...The clinic itself I think treats you like its their job vs. helping families create a life.

She is solid in her suggestions and support. If there is something that you are concerned with, she will let you know every outcome no matter the severity. There are even times that I have told her we were uncertain about things, she has provided options but has kept us in the loop to explain why it would/wouldn't be the best. I absolutely would recommend her to anyone! She is what I think people look for in a doctor when they are looking to be cared for. She is the only doctor (in any field at all) that makes me appreciate a doctor and the help that they give.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Jessie Dorais at Utah Fertility Center?
She will have your back. And she really will put her heart into this with you.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Jessie Dorais at Utah Fertility Center?
We have seen Dorais at multiple centers. This review is for UFC in Utah. She is an amazing woman and so extremely knowledgeable and helpful. At this clinic, I feel like she has to follow guides differently than at the UofU. Because she has to go off of a protocol from UFC, I feel like when we got pregnant at UofU there are things she cannot suggest the same. The clinic itself I think treats you like its their job vs. helping families create a life.
Describe the protocols Jessie Dorais used in your cycles at Utah Fertility Center and their degree of success.
We have used Clomid at the maximum strength every treatment (100, or 150mg?) Trigger shot most of the times. There are times when I didnt agree with using it because we had other success with OPK. We only did a baseline ultrasound the last 3 of 12 because of choice. She wanted to be sure that I had 3 large eggs each time because of the difficulty of getting us pregnant. The last 4 to 5 treatments of 12 we used Gonyl F for 4 days (dont remember the dose). I responded well to the Gonyl F, Trigger and Clomid well together. However, we are to the point where we need to move onto IVF and we would complete this with ICSI if the sperm count was low, and we would do a frozen cycle.
Describe your experience with the nursing staff at Utah Fertility Center.
Nursing staff was always helpful. They always found out answers to my 100000 questions. I liked that every nurse was able to help instead of one specific nurse being assigned to a doctor. They did always move quickly with getting back to me.
Describe your experience with Utah Fertility Center.
UFC I feel like is helpful but mostly is trying to hit a quota. Everyone is nice and helpful but I believe there is a protocol that they have that isn't necessarily my preference - it could be my preference but I still haven't received clarification on why they use certain protocols. They say that they are open 24/7, that would make me think that they will work with you any day. But when you are actually getting treatment, they will make you trigger on a day so they don't have to come in on a Sunday or certain holidays. I want to trigger when I need to be triggered for success and not have it based on their preferred schedule. We use donor sperm and have to be even more specific with our arrival for the procedure, etc. The hardest and possible second most stressful experience was when we had an IUI procedure on a Tuesday morning. I receive a phone call on Wednesday afternoon that the andrology department thought my appointment was on Monday and they thawed one of our vials of donor sperm for my procedure. That was stressful because of the cost of the vials and because my donor no longer donates, so that was a vial (almost) completely wasted. They remedied it by refreezing and letting me know they "could" possibly use it for a procedure but the sperm count would be half of what is was originally. They on their own accord called my cryobank I use and ordered another vial at no cost. I see that they did their due diligence in fixing the issue but the issue was a very scary one. I think that since the 3rd IUI out of the 12, I have felt more negative towards UFC because of the examples I have given but I have faith in my doctor so we have continued the path with Dr Dorais at this time.
Describe the costs associated with your care under Jessie Dorais at Utah Fertility Center.
More expensive but very comparable to UofU
Describe Jessie Dorais's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Utah Fertility Center.
She strongly suggested to do only single embryo transfer. She WOULD do multiple eggs but would notate that we went against her suggestion.
What specific things went wrong at Utah Fertility Center?
  • Lost or damaged samples

The donor sperm vial that was thawed by mistake on their end was the biggest issue we have had yet.

Describe the protocols Jessie Dorais used in your cycles at Utah Fertility Center and their degree of success.
We are a lesbian couple so obviously TI was not something we were capable of trying. When we first started with Dr. Dorais we had no reason to believe we would have any trouble getting pregnant so for the first two IUIs we didn't do any pharmaceutical interventions. Those didn't work so we ran some tests, and found I had a blocked fallopian tube which was able to be fixed in office. We then adjusted to doing IUIs with Clomid. Those didn't work either. We ran more tests and discovered I had polyps in my uterus. I had surgery to remove those and we moved on to IVF. We used a pretty standard protocol of Menopur, Follistim, Cetrotide and an HCG trigger shot we got 17 eggs but only two embryos. Only one embryo tested normal through pgs testing. We transferred it and I got pregnant. However it resulted in a missed miscarriage at around 11 weeks. Babe stopped growing somewhere around 9 weeks. We are trying IVF again when covid-19 is over. Our stimulation cycle has been increased slightly and we have added Novarel to the trigger. We had taken almost a year off to improve my health with supplements that are shown to improve egg quality, and to work on my nutrition.

Most all of the staff we have interacted with have been phenomenal. Katrina our current coordinator is friendly, helpful, and responsive.

Describe your experience with your monitoring appointments at Utah Fertility Center.
It was definitely an efficient process. I am almost always able to get in for appointments that make it easy for me and my schedule (not having to get a sub for an hour or so is huge for a teacher).
Describe the costs associated with your care under Jessie Dorais at Utah Fertility Center.
We have insurance that covers fertility treatments, so I can't remember exactly. However I feel like what we're going into this time (where we haven't met our deductible yet) is pretty typical for an IVF cycle cost wise.
Describe Jessie Dorais's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Utah Fertility Center.
Dr. Dorais is conservative and feels that a single embryo transfer is best. That said she is open to discussing multiples.

Describe the specific things that went wrong at Utah Fertility Center.
The first IUI they thawed two vials of sperm to use without discussing with us first. That was frustrating as it's precious and we only have so much to work with. It's never happened since though.

[Dr. Jessie Dorais] Suggested single embryo given we have PGS normal and my younger age...is a good mix between being human and a doctor. She is very data driven but also very thorough and takes the time to answer every question...She was very thorough each time I talked to her. A little disappointed that those opportunities were slim. I had 3 stimulations and 2 egg retrievals with her being my doctor. One egg retrieval another doctor performed the surgery and I wasn’t made aware it wasn’t going to be her until right before being sedated. Had a lot of ups and downs during treatment with things not going as planned but I trust Dr. Dorais knowledge and most of my disappointments had to do with process handled by the treatment center and staff.
I had Katrina [nurse at Utah Fertility Center] for my first cycle. She was a poor Communicator, wouldn’t respond to my emails, and her compassion was non existent. I requested a new coordinator for my second and third retrieval’s and Morgan was dramatically better...The clinic was great with scheduling, easy to coordinate appointments. It was obvious their internal process needs dramatic improvement. I had to ask each time for my results to be posted to my portal and most of the time they still wouldn’t post, and I had ask how many follicles were developing at each appointment. You really have to be your own advocate and be knowledgeable during the entire process.

Describe the protocols Jessie Dorais used in your cycles at Utah Fertility Center and their degree of success.
First stimulation I was on 275 Gonal, 2 vials of menopur. By the end of stim day 12 I had only one dominant follicle, egg retrieval was canceled. For the second month, they retested my amh. My amh came back significantly lower than two months prior where the testing was done with my OB, not the fertility clinic. My meds were bumped for the second stim to 375 Gonal and 2 vials of menopur for 12 days. Retrieved 6 eggs, 5 mature, 5 fertilized, 3 blasts, 3 PGS normal. I was thrilled with the result but we wanted to bank more given my age. Stim 3 had the same protocol for 13 days. 21 eggs retrieved, 18 mature, 15 fertilized, 3 blasts, 1 PGS abnormal, 1 PGS inconclusive, 1 PGS normal. Really difficult with the results of the third cycle and can’t help but wonder what went wrong.
Describe your experience with your nurse at Utah Fertility Center. (Assigned nurse: Katrina and Morgan )
I had Katrina for my first cycle. She was a poor Communicator, wouldn’t respond to my emails, and her compassion was non existent. I requested a new coordinator for my second and third retrieval’s and Morgan was dramatically better.
Describe your experience with Utah Fertility Center.
The clinic was great with scheduling, easy to coordinate appointments. It was obvious their internal process needs dramatic improvement. I had to ask each time for my results to be posted to my portal and most of the time they still wouldn’t post, and I had ask how many follicles were developing at each appointment. You really have to be your own advocate and be knowledgeable during the entire process.
Describe the costs associated with your care under Jessie Dorais at Utah Fertility Center.
Still going through billing. So far about 15K per cycle.
Describe Jessie Dorais's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Utah Fertility Center.
Suggested single embryo given we have PGS normal and my younger age.
What specific things went wrong at Utah Fertility Center?
  • Failed to consider drug intolerance
Describe the specific things that went wrong at Utah Fertility Center.
I had an issue with one of the drugs giving me an allergic reaction. I let my Ivf coordinator know and I never heard back from her. That was my last straw before I requested a new coordinator.

Success w/ Doc Too early to know
She [Dr. Dorais] was very kind and understanding. I’m a very A type personality so I do a lot of research and she answered every one of my questions. I heard horror stories that doctors don’t take kindly to patients like me.... She diagnosed us with MFI due to my Husband’s Varicocele and low morphology. She put him on Coq10. We had to talk to her about seeing a infertility urologist to assess it further which she left it up to us. We decided to pursue that direction since my insurance would cover surgery.
The clinic [Utah Fertility Center] was okay. We used one of their satellite clinic so it was as nice as their main location. The main location was obviously nicer. The waiting room was bigger in the satellite site which was nice but kind of odd.... I like my doctor but the nursing staff seemed unorganized. I called ahead to ask a few more questions before starting my IUI but they weren’t as talkative compared my doctor
How was your experience with Jessie Dorais at Utah Fertility Center?
She’s very soft spoken. That was okay with me but I can see how it may bother other. She used a lot of illustrations to describe things which were helpful. She was also very hopeful and pointed a lot of positives in our situation.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Jessie Dorais at Utah Fertility Center?
I was fortunate enough that my GYN doctor did a lot of the diagnostic testing which then Dr Dorais continued. I feel like UFC is very much “let’s get you pregnant” so I wasn’t sure if they didn’t need to evaluate more on the reasons why I wasn’t getting pregnant
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Jessie Dorais at Utah Fertility Center?

It seems pretty standard.

We haven’t spoken about transfers but she did express her discomfort about possible multiples in my statue.

Describe the specific things that went wrong at Utah Fertility Center.
Well, we were supposed to have a follow up appointment with my doctor so we drove their further appointment. I’m not sure if there was a communication error between my doctor and her nurse but she thought we had a phone consultation so she called us instead. When she realize that it was an actual appointment, she grabbed us from the waiting room.

Dr. Dorais was extremely nice and listened to my concerns and answered my questions. She made suggestions as to what we would need to do next, etc...She did all the testing that I needed at the time to diagnose and treat...We started with Clomid so that I could have more mature follicles with timed intercourse for about 5 cycles. That did not work. We then did IUI with Clomid. That did not work, so the next thing was to do IVF.
The [Utah Fertility Center] clinic strength is that it was very clean and organized. Nurses were nice and walked me through each step. Clinic weakness is long wait time which was crucial for the IUI...even though they excepted my health insurance, I had to pay on site. Just for a consultation to talk about next steps, it was over $100. Are you why was over $1000 that had to be paid on site. Nothing was billed to my insurance.

Describe your experience with Utah Fertility Center.
The clinic strength is that it was very clean and organized. Nurses were nice and walked me through each step. Clinic weakness is long wait time which was crucial for the IUI as I was told we had two hours from the time of ejaculation of sperm to when the IUI was inserted. I was able to take the specimen on time and they asked that I would come back in one hour, which I did. I had 30 mins for procedure to be completed. However, I waited about 45 minutes until I was in a room. By the time the specimen was inserted it had been over 2 1/2 hours at least. My concern was if the sperm was still viable having waited that long.

We have tried the different amounts of Letrozole to get me to grow my follicles to a decent size [protocol with Dr. Dorias]. Overall, we ended up doing the 7.5 mg for 10 days straight, and have added Estrace to thicken up my very thin lining. We also have to use the HCG trigger shot, because I don’t ovulate on my own...She is all about single embryo transfer, as long as you are young and healthy. She isn’t fond of the high risk factors that come along with a multiple pregnancy
They [staff at Utah Fertility Center] are very sweet and very smart. They are passionate about what they do and it shows. I wish they did a cash pay discount. I also wish they were a little more clear on prices on certain tests or blood work before you did them...Kristi Rodgerson [nurse] ended up being our FAVORITE. She is very caring and personable. And was always willing to answer any questions over the phone. She knows what she is talking about
How was your experience with Jessie Dorais at Utah Fertility Center?
She is very passionate about what she does, as well as very intelligent. She thoroughly explained every treatment, And why she felt it necessary. She took into account that we didn’t have insurance, and helped us figure out our best options. She is super caring and genuine, and has taken the time to call and personally talk about our next step.

Dr Dorais is newer to UFC and she used to work at U of U Fertility. She is extremely optimistic and kind. Unfortunately with this sensitive type of medicine, being overly optimistic about everything isn’t always the best characteristic because it can lead to high hopes and devastating letdowns when the IVF cycle doesn’t work or go as planned. I prefer someone with more years of experience and a more realistic vs optimistic approach.
This clinic [UFC-Pleasant Grove] is known for being less expensive than the other two clinics in the area. Unfortunately in my experience this is because they have a mass amount of patients and do lots of cycles even when the requirements are not met. For example, this clinic does not require you to have a certain BMI or other labs that most other clinics are very strict about. They are lenient and take greater risks with your IVF cycle in order to process you as another patient. At the time I thought it was great that I could get started so quickly given some questions about my overall health, but after a failed cycle I now understand why other clinics have more strict guidelines on BMI, etc.

What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Jessie Dorais at Utah Fertility Center?
Get a second opinion from another doctor and/or clinic before deciding to go with her and UFC. Don’t let your heart talk you into spending that huge amount of money just because she says you have great chances of it working. Sometimes you have to go with your head instead of your heart, and being sweet talked with optimism was unfortunately something that we fell for as a new-to-IVF couple.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Jessie Dorais at Utah Fertility Center?
Dr Dorais is extremely caring and very dedicated to her patients.
Describe the protocols Jessie Dorais used in your cycles at Utah Fertility Center and their degree of success.
Antagonist protocol.
Describe your experience with your nurse at Utah Fertility Center. (Assigned nurse: Lacey )
I was originally given Tonya Canaday as my coordinator but then switched to “Lacey” without even being informed of the switch. Lacey was blunt and rude. She had no compassion or kind words. The only positive of having Lacey was that she emails back usually within an hour unless it’s Saturday-Monday which she has off. Neither Tonya nor Lacey ever answer their phone and Tonya never emails back.

Describe the costs associated with your care under Jessie Dorais at Utah Fertility Center.
$11,699 for IVF cycle with ICSI, $200 per embryo for PGS testing, $750 for FDA physical examinations (standard for intended parents using gestational surrogate), and $400 cash UNDER THE TABLE (or $450 on credit card) directly to the anesthesiologist for anesthesia on the day of egg retrieval. Super sketchy there!! Plus all blood work and doctors appointment consult fees.
Describe Jessie Dorais's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Utah Fertility Center.
Dorais is happy doing single or multiple embryo transfers, depending on your personal preference.
What specific things went wrong at Utah Fertility Center?
  • Failed to order appropriate test
  • Failed to consider drug intolerance
Describe the specific things that went wrong at Utah Fertility Center.
Specific labs for my situation were never given simply based on my young age and good AMH. There were major oversights in my IVF cycle because they just wanted to do my cycle and then evaluate. I was told by a few different nurses that UFC likes you to do a cycle and then they adjust meds and protocol. So they PLAN on your first cycle not being very successful in order to proceed from there. I was never told what their first cycle/transfer success rate was. I feel that they do not have strict protocols in place for someone who wants to start IVF. As long as you have the money, they will let you start a cycle.

I felt like a human because she [Dr. Dorais] took her time with us. She didn't care if she had to stay late one day if it meant answering all of our questions...Dr. Dorais HIGHLY recommended only one embryo and made it very clear. She gave all the risks associated with doing two..... She is so knowledgeable in every aspect of both male and female infertility. She knew the answer and a ton more for every question we had. The only weakness she had was trying so much to make syre we didn't get our hopes up
They [Utah Fert Ctr] are amazing at getting back to you and making sure they have everything ready to go throughout the whole process. Weakness is that they don't always answer the phone, but they do get back to you within the day or at least the next...My coordinator was amazing!! Super on top of everything, answered all my questions swiftly and accurately. She really showed that she cared about us and helping us achieve our dream of having a kid.
How was your experience with Jessie Dorais at Utah Fertility Center?
Dr. Dorais is great at communicating every detail of the process. She is so knowledgeable in every aspect of both male and female infertility. She knew the answer and a ton more for every question we had. The only weakness she had was trying so much to make syre we didn't get our hopes up. After transfer though she was super excited and rooting for us, but during the process I felt it was hard to be excited at all. Part of that though was how little our chances were because of both my husband's and I's infertility factors.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Jessie Dorais at Utah Fertility Center?
To not be afraid to ask any questions you may have. She makes you feel like every question is important and will literally have the answer plus some for each question.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Jessie Dorais at Utah Fertility Center?
I felt like a human because she took her time with us. She didn't care if she had to stay late one day if it meant answering all of our questions. She would check in on us throughout the process. She has shown excitement when given good news as well as sympathized with us during hard times.
Describe the protocols Jessie Dorais used in your cycles at Utah Fertility Center and their degree of success.
We did IVF with ICSI because of male gactor infertility. I started out taking birth control pills for a couple of weeks. I also have an extremely low AMH of .38 so she put me on Gonal-F 300 once a day, 150 units of Menopur daily, and once it was time I took 1 shot of ganilerex. Once it was time to trigger I took 10,000 units of HCG 36 hours before egg retreival. During all this I also took prenatal vitemins, one baby asprin a day, 600mg of CoQ10.

We were blessed to have partial insurance coverage. Out of pocket we paid about $4,500 for medications and about $1,500 or less on dr. Visits, ultrasounds, bloodwork, etc.

[Dr. Jessie Dorais] was kind, but she didn’t make an effort to let me know that they cared about me and were doing everything they could to help. I am finishing up a cycle with her right now and then I am switching...I feel like Jessie hasn’t done everything she can to find a diagnosis, and as the patient I shouldn’t be responsible for making sure they’ve run every single test there is to run.
The second IUI [with Utah Fertility Center] we did letrozole instead because clomid makes me very sick. This time her nurses told me to have intercourse like less than 24 hours before the IUI. This made my husband’s numbers lower because DUH! We had sex before the stinking procedure!...That was so confusing and so frustrating for me...They [nurses] were friendly, but it’s hard to be compassionate when you don’t know what it feels like. I struggled with that before it happened to me so I understand that it’s harder than it sounds. They were just following what they were told to do by Jessie, at least that’s how I understood it.
How was your experience with Jessie Dorais at Utah Fertility Center?
Jessie was kind, but she didn’t make an effort to let me know that they cared about me and were doing everything they could to help. I am finishing up a cycle with her right now and then I am switching to Dr. Conway because I’ve heard so many good things about her. I feel like Jessie hasn’t done everything she can to find a diagnosis, and as the patient I shouldn’t be responsible for making sure they’ve run every single test there is to run.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Jessie Dorais at Utah Fertility Center?
Be prepared to ask a lot of questions. She will give you statistics, and that’s about it. It’s like talking to google almost.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Jessie Dorais at Utah Fertility Center?
I felt like all I was given were statistics. I didn’t feel cared about very much.
Describe the protocols Jessie Dorais used in your cycles at Utah Fertility Center and their degree of success.
We did clomid but it wasn’t working so she said IUI was next since we are “unexplained.” We did clomid and IUI first, and my husband’s numbers were high for that one because we waited to have intercourse until after the IUI was done (there’s like a 2-5 day thing where you want to have intervourse within the 5 days before the IUI, but not after 2 days before). We did a trigger shot and that was it. It didn’t work. The second IUI we did letrozole instead because clomid makes me very sick. This time her nurses told me to have intercourse like less than 24 hours before the IUI. This made my husband’s numbers lower because DUH! We had sex before the stinking procedure! So then later she said it was because they want us to keep trying naturally at home, which I understand by telling me to do it right before the dang thing? That was so confusing and so frustrating for me. It still is. Anyways, we also did a trigger with that one and it didn’t work. I am currently in the middle of a letrozole cycle after 2 months of a break after the IUI’s.
Describe your experience with the nursing staff at Utah Fertility Center.
They were friendly, but it’s hard to be compassionate when you don’t know what it feels like. I struggled with that before it happened to me so I understand that it’s harder than it sounds. They were just following what they were told to do by Jessie, at least that’s how I understood it.
Describe your experience with Utah Fertility Center.
They were okay. Sometimes the front desk was grumpy, and one girl that checked me out all the time was always kind of stand-offish. I can’t remember her name though. She had long dirty blonde hair that was always in a pony tail.
Describe the costs associated with your care under Jessie Dorais at Utah Fertility Center.
The IUI itself was like $850 or something. The medicine was bought separately through integrity RX and one other company, and that added up to around $200.
What specific things went wrong at Utah Fertility Center?

Just having the wrong information told by the nurses as far as when to have intercourse before the IUI.

When we first met Dr. Dorais she was so warm and welcoming. She began by getting to know us. Addressed and questions or concerns we had and then very thoroughly answered every single question. We spoke with her for over 2 hours the first time we met. Anytime I need something, she calls and is so reassuring. She always explains everything so well and always asks me if I need anything or have any questions.
The nursing staff at UFC is wonderful. Everyone is so helpful and informative. The two nurses I have been working with have been wonderful. I am someone with a LOT of questions. I cannot tell you how many times I emailed Shailee, sometimes multiple times in a day and she always responded on the same day.... I also think it is wonderful that they have multiple locations throughout Utah. One thing I wish they offered was full service at all of their locations.
How was your experience with Jessie Dorais at Utah Fertility Center?
My experience with Dr. Dorias has been wonderful. She is very thorough and matter of fact. I really appreciate the fact that she never made us feel like she's in this for the money. I had so many questions regarding additional testing. She was very honest about each test and how it would or would not benefit us. I never felt like she was trying to sell something to us.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Jessie Dorais at Utah Fertility Center?
I would advise a prospective patient to do their research and come with a lot of questions. It is nice when your doctor has a very well rounded, educated response. Dr. Dorais answered SO many of the questions I had without me even formally asking her. She was so thorough.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Jessie Dorais at Utah Fertility Center?
When we first met Dr. Dorais she was so warm and welcoming. She began by getting to know us. Addressed and questions or concerns we had and then very thoroughly answered every single question. We spoke with her for over 2 hours the first time we met. Anytime I need something, she calls and is so reassuring. She always explains everything so well and always asks me if I need anything or have any questions.
Describe the protocols Jessie Dorais used in your cycles at Utah Fertility Center and their degree of success.
My protocol is for an antagonist cycle due to my AMH levels. Dr. Dorais explained the risks of developing OHSS and order a Leupron trigger shot to use in conjunction with my HCG. She also ordered: 5 Ganarelix 250MCG, 3 Follistim 600IUI, 75IUI Menopur (22), Pregnyl 10,000 units, Endometrin 100mg tablets, 63, Leupron 5MG. I began taking birth control pills on cycle day 3 and my husband and I were also prescribed a Z pack and Cipro for him as well.
Describe your experience with your nurse at Utah Fertility Center. (Assigned nurse: Shailee)
The nursing staff at UFC is wonderful. Everyone is so helpful and informative. The two nurses I have been working with have been wonderful. I am someone with a LOT of questions. I cannot tell you how many times I emailed Shailee, sometimes multiple times in a day and she always responded on the same day. Morgan has been really good about calling to check in and answering questions that way.
Describe your experience with Utah Fertility Center.
UFC does a wonderful job staffing a very well informed and helpful team. I also think it is wonderful that they have multiple locations throughout Utah. One thing I wish they offered was full service at all of their locations. Only some of the doctors travel to the branch offices to perform cycles. It would have been nice to have a location closer to home when my husband needed to freeze back up sperm but we love this place so much, we did not mind making the drive.
Describe the costs associated with your care under Jessie Dorais at Utah Fertility Center.
The actual procedure costs $9,800, which includes ICSI. Additional blood work runs around $400, medication was around 4,000. I had to do outside monitoring for my baseline and initial blood work due to living in California. Since my facility is in Utah so we had travel expenses as well.
Describe Jessie Dorais's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Utah Fertility Center.
My doctor definitely educated us on transferring 1 vs 2 embryos. She went over all of the risks of transferring more than one embryo in great detail. She also very respectfully told us that ultimately, we are the patients and the decision to transfer 1 versus 2 is up to us. She was very clear on letting us know what the medical field safely recommends.

Dr. Dorais has always called me by name and always knew exactly what was going on and what the plan is. She will personally call me if there is ever a problem and tell me the problem and the next steps to take care of it.... She diagnosed me with anovulation and PCOS. She put me on progesterone to get a period. When I did we started our first timed cycle which involved femara to grow my follicles and a trigger HCG injection to induce ovulation.
I love how clean the clinic [Utah Fertility Center] is. You walk in and they greet you by name, maybe just because I have been going for 8 months now. They are all patient and kind and want the best for their patients....There was just one time they had forgotten to call me with some results, but I ended up calling at the end of the day and they got those results right to me... They always know what the plan is and how to answer all of my questions.

You will not want to find another doctor after seeing Dr. Dorais!

She diagnosed me with anovulation and PCOS. She put me on progesterone to get a period. When I did we started our first timed cycle which involved femara to grow my follicles and a trigger HCG injection to induce ovulation. I got pregnant the first cycle and carried it till 6 weeks and then miscarried. She was concerned that is might be ectopic and explained that we needed to do a D&C. After the D&C we waited for my levels to go down and then started our 2nd cycle 2 months later. On my baseline ultrasound I was told I needed to come back for a saline ultrasound because there might be something in my uterus. I came back the next day and they found polyps in my uterus. 2 weeks later we did a hysterectomy to remove 5 polyps. 1 week after we started our 2nd cycle that turned into a negative pregnancy. We just did our 3rd timed cycle and I am currently in the two week wait!

Describe the costs associated with your care under Jessie Dorais at Utah Fertility Center.
Unfortunately, insurance doesn't cover anything infertility. We have been doing timed cycles which are $525 a cycle + around another $300 for medications and then gas money (I live 1.5 hours away from Utah Fertility Center). We also had a D&C and then a hysteroscopy and those each costed money too. I have figured we are around $4,000 into this journey.
Describe Jessie Dorais's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Utah Fertility Center.
We haven't had the opportunity to transfer embryos

Dr Dorais is very patient and kind. She is also extremely smart. I think it was Einstein who said, "if you can't explain something simply you don't know it well enough." Dr Dorais always explains things in simple ways. She welcomes questions and answers them in simple to understand ways. She takes notes for you and draws diagrams so everyone is on the same page. She doesn't rush you out of her office or make you feel like you are wasting her time. I've always felt like we are her only paitents. She is always so positive and helpful.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Jessie Dorais at Utah Fertility Center?
Don't be afraid to ask her to repeat herself. She is very patient and she wants you to know what is going on. So ask questions and if you don't understand, ask her to explain it again and she will.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Jessie Dorais at Utah Fertility Center?
Dr. Dorais is SO nice! She is so sweet and caring. The first time we met with her she was very tactful about our situation and also very hopeful. We had just come from a Dr that told us there was nothing more she could do for us and was acting like we tarnished her record (which is why we switched to Dr Dorais). The instant Dr Dorais started talking it was like a breath of fresh air! I actually started crying in her office because of how sweet, caring, and positive she was about our situation. She is also very patient! I asked her the same question 3 times because I didn't understand and she explained the answer 3 different times still with the same kindness as if I only asked once.

Everyone that I've met on the nursing staff is so nice and happy. I feel like they know that the patients that come in are most often heartbroken and don't want to be there so the nursing staff is super nice and empathic.
Describe your experience with Utah Fertility Center.
The clinic does a good job of being empathic and kind. I've yet to meet someone working there that was grouchy. I really like the atmosphere of the clinic. It's clean and has fun music playing. The only thing that bothers me is the artwork in the lobby. There is a giant photograph of a pregnant woman on the wall that you can see as you leave and as you walk in there's another piece of art that is a mother holding a baby. I know that the goal is to get the patients pregnant but this art feels like a slap in the face sometimes.
Describe the costs associated with your care under Jessie Dorais at Utah Fertility Center.
I don't remember specifically but I do remember opening my bill and being surprised at how low our costs were. I think I was expecting upwards of $500 and the bill was around $100. I do know that one of our bills was only $17 and that was nice but I don't remember what it was for.

The only thing is that sometimes when we go in for bloodwork they tell us they'll call with the results by the end of the day and they don't call. But they are very easy to get ahold of and we always have access to our results within a couple of days.

Dr. Dorais is so sweet. She always seemed happy to see us, never seemed to be in a bad mood and was always present with us. When we were talking about treatment options she realized that I was interested in the details so she gave them to me. She discussed recent studies and always explained the rationale behind her suggested treatment plan. When things didn’t work she adapted and she was willing to listen to and consider our opinion for our treatment plan.
The IVF nurse line was awesome and they were super responsive. All the phlebotomists were friendly and well trained. ... Everyone [University of Utah] was very friendly and clearly worked as a team. I much prefer the clinic staff at the U to that at UFC, where Dr. Dorais is currently practicing. ... think there was a time or two they didn’t call with results when they said they would but it was never for a critical test and I was always able to reach them to get the info.

I was unexpectedly a poor responder to the storms so she continued to slightly increase or modify my dosages through our IUI cycles (we had already done 3 rounds of clomid when we saw her so we started right away with that). She began us just on Femara and then added injectables. When we began IVF I still didn’t respond as well to the meds, so after my first cycle was canceled she adjusted and increased doses and added HGH. She also wanted to make sure everything was perfectly prepared going into IVF so she did a uterine septum surgery prior to it. My second IVF cycle was still a learning experience but I did get pregnant and have a son. Even though it resulted in pregnancy it was clear they it hadn’t worked as well as hoped (no embryos to freeze) so now that we are doing IVF she is trying a totally different approach (min-stim with ICSI and luteal estrace).

IUIs - $360 with meds/cycle I did a guarantee programs for IVF so my 2 cycles were about $15000. Meds for the first cycle were $4500 and second were $5500.

How was your experience with Jessie Dorais at Utah Fertility Center?
Jessie Dorais is very nice (even all the nurses comment on how sweet she is) so she’s easy to talk to. She thoroughly listens and is always available to talk, there were a few times I was just at the clinic for blood work and she’d see me in the hallway and invite me into her office for a quick catch up. She also explained everything very well while also being very respectful. My egg retrieval was scheduled for a day when Dr. Dorais wasn’t doing retrieval’s (the doctors rotate) so she had them schedule it for 7am and came in before her normal shift to do my retrieval. That is commitment to your patients, and I very much appreciate it.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Jessie Dorais at Utah Fertility Center?
Make the appointment, you won’t regret it.

Describe the protocols Jessie Dorais used in your cycles at Utah Fertility Center and their degree of success.
We have unexplained secondary infertility, Dr. Dorais seems to use the basic general protocols for everything since we don’t have a lot to go on. For my IVF cycle I was concerned because I felt like she chose to trigger me too soon (only a few mature follicles), but I tried to remind myself that I trusted her and she knew best. Seems like it was the right decision, we only ended up with 4 mature eggs (I have low AMH) but 3 fertilized and all 3 made it to day 5 blasts (1 transferred, 2 frozen). Those 4 mature eggs were plucked just at the right time which might not have been the case had I pushed to stim longer.
Describe your experience with your nurse at Utah Fertility Center. (Assigned nurse: Shailee Taylor)
My coordinator is nice and knowledgeable but she does seem a bit stretched, like she had a lot going on. That being said, she always calls me back and answers all my questions. I’m general the nursing staff had been great. They are compassionate and kind.
Describe your experience with Utah Fertility Center.
A big weakness is that the main office is outside of the city, so while I can do a lot of appointments at the closer office things like retrieval’s, transfers and weekend appointments are all 45 minutes away. I understand that the big clinic is in a city where land isn’t easier to come by and a lot cheaper. It just stinks that the majority of the population live pretty far from the main office. A strength is that they don’t force batch patients, if you want to do a cycle on your time they will do it. It’s also pretty easy to get a hold of people and I’ve always gotten me results on time. If an appointment needs to be squeezed in they make it happen.
Describe the costs associated with your care under Jessie Dorais at Utah Fertility Center.
IUI was about $800 with monitoring. Anesthesia for egg retrieval was $400 ($450 if using a credit card) which is completely out of pocket. Everything else was billed through our insurance.
Describe Jessie Dorais's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Utah Fertility Center.
From the beginning my husband and I were clear about not wanting multiples. Dr. Dorais was very receptive to this, she explained that multiples are a side effect of fertility treatment and NOT a desired outcome (medically, since it’s a higher risk pregnancy). She said she usually has to try to talk people out of wanting multiples (which I understand, after infertility you just want all the babies!) so she was happy that we wanted to lower that risk. She did mention that we might talk about transferring 2 embryos if we have a few failed sETs which sounds like a very reasonable plan.

She took the time to explain how the clinic came up with an unexplained fertility diagnosis. She talked to me and asked questions on how I was feeling and my frustrations.
Describe the protocols Jessie Dorais used in your cycles at Utah Fertility Center and their degree of success.
The strategy was to have 3 iuis to ensure that wouldn’t work before moving on to ivf. She stated we could do a mini ivf or go to a full ivf due to me having a high egg count. The reason she says to go to ivf is because it is unknown if I have tube damage to a potential of endometriosis. She also stated that having surgery for endo would not benefit because it could ruin my egg count and cause more damage to ovaries or tubes.

I have been very pleased with Dr Dorais. She is very talented and shows compassion with every patient. We have been through 3 timed cycles, 1 D&C, and 1 hysteroscopy, and she has explained each one of them very well to us. I trust she knows exactly what to do and understands all of our frustrations. I will continue to see dr Dorais until we have success! She is the nicest and best!
Utah fertility center is one of the best. They all care so much and have a clean facility. The only thing is I wish they had one in northern Utah, like logan! Other than that, I would recommend anybody who is struggling with infertility to Utah fertility center!... We use femara to grow the follicles! We moniter the follicles with a baseline ultrasound and then again another ultrasound to measure follicle growth. Then we do the HCG trigger injection which is followed by timed intercourse. After that is the progesterone taken vaginally followed by the two week wait. We had success first time, but then miscarried due to 5 polyps!

Utah fertility center is one of the best. They all care so much and have a clean facility. The only thing is I wish they had one in northern Utah, like logan! Other than that, I would recommend anybody who is struggling with infertility to Utah fertility center!

Describe the specific things that went wrong at Utah Fertility Center.
There was once that they said they would call me to let me know my dosage of femara and they didn’t. I ended up having to call the emergency line and they had to get the answer for me.

She [Dr. Jessie Dorais] draws things out for you and was open to all of our questions. Sometimes I got a little lost with some of the explaining because she used a lot of medical terms that I didn’t understand but she was always patient when I asked her to re-explain things. I loved that she would familiarize herself with all of our past treatments, tests, miscarriage all of it before we would consult together. I appreciated her taking that time so that I knew she was aware of everything especially since I would mostly see the nurses.
Some of the nurses [at Utah Fertility Center] are so sweet and sensitive and kind. They are good at explaining all that they are doing and talking you through it all. I didn’t like that they weren’t up to date on my history. I saw so many nurses and they never knew how many IUI’s I had done or my history of having a miscarriage and that made me sometimes just feel like another number coming through. I also didn’t have a great experience with one nurse. She was the one who had to tell me that I had a blighted ovum and that I would have to have a miscarriage. It was already a super hard experience and I was in complete denial and I felt like she wasn’t super sensitive at all!
How was your experience with Jessie Dorais at Utah Fertility Center?
Dr.Dorais has been a great doctor for us. Going into the infertility world was scary and hard and she was so kind and welcoming. She has the most soft voice and takes the time to explain things. She draws things out for you and was open to all of our questions. Sometimes I got a little lost with some of the explaining because she used a lot of medical terms that I didn’t understand but she was always patient when I asked her to re-explain things. What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Jessie Dorais at Utah Fertility Center?
Be honest and open. Dr.Dorais cares about your feelings and your situation and wants to help so be as vulnerable as you can.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Jessie Dorais at Utah Fertility Center?
There have been a few instances that showed to me that I wasn’t just a number to Dr.Dorais. The first was after our miscarriage. She called as soon as she found out and left the most kind and heartfelt voicemail and offered to have a consult and talk over things as soon as I was ready to come in. The next was after our third failed IUI. She was completely booked for a few weeks but moved her schedule around to meet with us the next day to consult and talk over our options after that heartbreak.
Describe the protocols Jessie Dorais used in your cycles at Utah Fertility Center and their degree of success.
We did 3 rounds of timed intercourse using clomid day 3-7 and measuring follicles starting day 12 and doing hcg trigger shot when cycle called for it and then doing intercourse 12 and 24 hours later. We also did 1 round of IUI with clomid same process as timed intercourse but had my husband bring in a semen analysis 1 hour before the IUI procedure. After the IUI procedure I was told to have intercourse that night and sometime the next day and then to start progesterone suppositories. Blood work was done exactly 2 weeks later to check If I was negative or positive. The other 2 IUI’s were the exact same except using letrezole instead of clomid. All 3 timed intercourse and the 3 IUI’s were negative

It was already a super hard experience and I was in complete denial and I felt like she wasn’t super sensitive at all! She seemed numb to seeing that kind of heartache and it was pretty awful. So I’ve had great experience of kind nurses who would move schedules to make things easy for me and would make me feel comfortable and understood and others that were extremely unfeeling.
Describe your experience with Utah Fertility Center.
The front desk staff has been hard for me. They are the first and last people you see and I haven’t always been impressed. When I first started coming the front office wasn’t super welcoming and a little cold. The lady who checked me out seemed annoyed and tired and never once cracked a smile or anything. So that’s hard. As I’ve been there longer the front office has gotten better and knows me by face. But the clinic is clean, well equipped and I’ve been grateful to be in such a good clinic that’s so close to my home. There are a lot of the staff that are passionate about what they are doing and are aware of how hard it is to be doing the things that we go through as patients.
Describe the costs associated with your care under Jessie Dorais at Utah Fertility Center.
I’m under DMBA which has been good to cover a lot of my procedures. My HCG shot and progesterone suppositories have been around $200 each month and that isn’t covered by insurance. Everything else has almost all been covered for.
What specific things went wrong at Utah Fertility Center?
  • Failed to convey critical information
Describe the specific things that went wrong at Utah Fertility Center.
My first timed intercourse cycle I needed to call a pharmacy in Arizona and order my HCG shot. The nurse didn’t convey that information so when I needed to do the trigger shot I expected that they had it in office because they didn’t explain that the medication needed to be ordered and shipped to me.

Dr. Dorais has always been attentive, reviews our records before we get to the room, and I really feel like she remembers me and I have an actual connection with her...She is always sure to give me scientific studies and facts behind why she's suggesting something (Femara vs clomid), and is happy to answer my questions. I always feel like I have a clear understanding of what we're doing and what's coming next. Multiple times, I've left a message with a question, and gotten called back by Dr. Dorais herself.. She is respectful of our personalities and adjusts treatments to fit us...
The clinic runs well! It's a slight bummer that Dr. Dorais isn't in my location each day, so I've often seen a PA for ultrasounds or things. But everyone I've met with has been so helpful, and I don't feel like I have to restart telling my situation to each new person (they all feel informed on my case)...[Nursing staff] They are always helpful and happy to answer my *many* questions...Their front office staff has all been helpful with billing questions, though.

While waiting to get my husband's issues worked out and during testing, she's done multiple unmonitered Femara cycles (I take it day 3-7 and then just do at-home ovulation tests). We've also done one Timed Intercourse cycle, with Femara, where I also went in for ultrasounds to track follicles, and used an HcG trigger shot to insure we could get my ovulation on track.

Dr Dorais is very compassionate and sensitive. She spent a lot of time talking about our options and called me several times just to check in and follow up on previous conversations. Her patient care is her greatest strength - very reassuring...In my opinion she is on the conservative side as far as treatment course. She was great to work with, but that being said I did not have success with two ivf cycles so it is hard to recommend fully. If you are looking for a patient, kind doctor that will clearly and carefully explain things she is excellent. Also, she did leave the clinic for another local clinic in the middle of my second cycle.
[University of Utah is a] Nice facility that feels personal. They managed things efficiently and were excellent communicators. The mychart system is also very helpful for keeping track of information and seeing doctors notes or even asking questions. Each person I dealt with was professional and helpful...Meg [nurse] was amazing. I had to get my frozen embryos sent from another state and she handled everything so smoothly. She micro-managed every detail and made sure that nothing was missed and that it was all smooth. She really minimized my stress. So, so grateful for her.

Describe the protocols Jessie Dorais used in your cycles at University of Utah and their degree of success.
I did 2 frozen embryo transfers with dr Dorais. Both were mostly the same protocol with lupron injections, oral meds (can't remember name!) and the mm progestorone injections. I was allergic to progestorone and switched to crinone vaginal cream. Cycles were treated the same except with an addition of an endometrial scratch procedure before the 2nd Ivf.

About $3500 for a frozen cycle, plus medications
Describe Jessie Dorais's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at University of Utah.
She favored eSET. I already have twins from a previous Ivf cycle with another clinic/dr and had a very complicated pregnancy. With those factors she had a clear recommendation.

How was your experience with Jessie Dorais at University of Utah?
From my first visit with Dr. Dorais, I felt comfortable in her care, confident in her knowledge and abilities, and so grateful to have her as my doctor. She personalized every step of treatment and adjusted it as needed. She was direct with odds, risks, next steps for treatments. She gave professional opinions, but also constantly checked in on how I was feeling and what I wanted to do. She is positive, but realistic, and approaches everything optimistically. I had a few setbacks and complications during my treatment (through no fault of Dr. Dorais) and when things were especially difficult, she would call to check in on me or just to touch base and see how I was doing. When I thought I was miscarrying, she offered to meet me in the ER if I decided to go in. When that miscarriage was confirmed in her office, she sat with us as we cried together, knew the right things to say, and helped us through it. She was so compassionate while we grieved, and later shared in our joy when we were finally pregnant. She made our journey bearable, when at times it felt like it wouldn’t have been otherwise. She was my advocate, my cheerleader, and also a voice of reason. She is simply the best.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Jessie Dorais at University of Utah?
Make an appointment with her ASAP.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Jessie Dorais at University of Utah?
Dr. Dorais was always very warm and kind. She knew everything about our case all the time, without checking my chart during the visit. We felt like she was our teammate and wanted success for us as badly as we wanted it for ourselves. She would sit down and speak directly with us, never acting like she was rushed or had to go, even though I’m sure she always had other things she could have been doing. If our visit was over and I thought of a question as she was walking out, she’d come back and sit down and talk us through anything. She never rushed us. She followed up with me after hours and called me personally a few times when there had been good or bad news.
Describe the protocols Jessie Dorais used in your cycles at University of Utah and their degree of success.
3 rounds Letrazole 3 IUIs (with Gonal-F) 1 round IVF: 25 eggs retrieved, resulting in 13 frozen embryos. Converted to freeze-all due to OHSS First FET: 2 embryos, 1 implanted, miscarried at 7 weeks Second FET: 2 embryos, resulted in twins (now 14 months old)

Describe Jessie Dorais's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at University of Utah.
She strongly encouraged single embryo transfer, but let us make our own decision about transferring one or two embryos. She was very clear about the risks of transferring multiple embryos and her rationale for her recommendations.

Dr. Dorais was so caring and personable. As I was going through our first miscarriage she was extremely sensitive and helpful through the process. She made personal phone calls to congratulate us after we found out we were pregnant (both times!). She thoroughly and carefully helped us understand the basic science behind why we weren’t able to get pregnant to that point and helped us understand our treatment options based on that understanding.
Our nurse [University of Utah] was very helpful and responsive. My questions (via their messaging software) were answered very quickly.... I loved how frequently we were able to meet with our Dr (not always common among other practices). I didn’t love some of the other doctors. I had to meet with one during an emergency Sunday ultrasound when I was miscarrying. He was very blunt and not very sensitive during this imaginably difficult time.
How was your experience with Jessie Dorais at University of Utah?
Dr. Dorais is sweet and compassionate. I always felt well cared for and “heard” as her patient. She never pushed us into a treatment, it was always the pace that we were comfortable with. She always had time for us and our questions. We never felt rushed during our visits with her.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Jessie Dorais at University of Utah?
Feel empowered about your healthcare and treatment options because she will absolutely address them. I one time hesitated about a particular treatment and timing that she had recommended. She immediately sensed that and asked what our preference was and followed through with that.

Describe the protocols Jessie Dorais used in your cycles at University of Utah and their degree of success.
We used the highest dosage of Femara because all clomid dosages hadnt resulted in ovulation. Because of this she recommended we start with the highest dosage of femara and we were able to get pregnant immediately. The first pregnancy resulted in a miscarriage (HCG levels weren’t growing appropriately). Our second round we were able to get pregnant again.

Dr Dorais is an amazing doctor. I came to her with a diagnosis of unexplained fertility from a previous RE. She dug deeper and diagnosed me with endometriosis and my husband with low morphology. It was nice to finally have some answers. She was very open and compassionate. She did a great job of explaining things in layman terms. She laid out the options nicely and involved my husband and I in the decision making.

She was also good at keeping an awkward and stressful situation very light.

Dr. Dorais is the sweetest doctor. You can tell that she genuinely cares about more than just a chart or increasing success numbers. She was very open about next steps and included us in the decision making.
Describe the protocols Jessie Dorais used in your cycles at University of Utah and their degree of success.
We have only been seeing her for a few months so we do not have any positive pregnancy tests yet, but I am hopeful. After discussing our previous treatments and tests and some of my current symptoms she gave the option to dig a little deeper. I was put on birth control and had a laparoscopy done that same month. She found a mild case of endometriosis. She gave us the option to try naturally or with drugs and IUI. She suggested the IUI's because I was more fertile after have the excision of endometriosis. We tried one month naturally and are now onto our 2nd IUI.
