[Dr. Lowell Ku's] Strength is that he knows first hand of the fertility struggle. This allows him to be more understanding than most. I have not noticed any actual weaknesses with Dr. Ku at my appointments. He was very detailed with the appointment...I did embryo adoption. We did the blood test and regular testing. I had hormonal injections that injected IM everyday...was very empathetic to my struggle. He also didnt make me feel like I was wasting my time. He assured me that my age was not an issue. Unlike others whom i felt were trying to get me to give up because of my age.
didnt get told to decrease hormone injections till later because personnel [at Dallas IVF] thought they told me...The only problem I had with the nurse staff is that I lived 2 hours away and they told me I could submit paperwork via fax then when I did I was told it could not be submitted that way and I was going to have to come in and drop it off or my IVF procedure would be cancelled. Inconsistent information. The Coordinator Tammy was wonderful and comforting...I cant say enough good things about her.

The first consultation I had with Dr. Ku I was impressed. I liked the thoroughness that he had in making sure that I had made the right decision for me and my family and that I knew what I was up against. Never once did I feel like what I wanted couldn't happen. He prepared me and set my expectations accordingly.
I felt there was a little miscommunication between Dr Ku, myself and what the [Dallas IVF] nursing staff knew but do think it has and will get worked out...I absolutely appreciated the quick responses as well as who I needed to reach out to for specific questions. That made it really easy for me...I felt heard, listened to and all my questions were answered. I never felt rushed in the appointments and all information shared was easy to understand and not over my head.

Dr.Ku took the time to explain in detailed what the process involved. He was aware of my feelings and I felt very comfortable talking to him about my concerns...is the only doctor I’ve seen who shares his personal number with his patients in case His patients have extra questions not covered during the visit. He is cordial and inviting, maintaining a joyous and hopeful yet professional demeanor with his patients. He uses diagrams and down-to-earth terminology so that his patients fully understand the process of IUI/IVF, and never seems lofty or arrogant because of his schooling.
Office visits [at Dallas IVF] were $90. Without insurance, they are $225.00. Sonograms were $200.00, $225.00 without insurance. Blood tests were $75.00. Sperm collection and implantation for IUI was $500.00. For an IVF procedure, physician fees would be $4.000.00...The clinic opens at 7:30 and they close at 5pm which is sometimes difficult for people who work till 5pm, but Dr. Ku can schedule appointments for after 5 and on weekends if necessary. The facility has plenty of parking, and wait times are quite reasonable considering the number of patients seen in this office.

[Dr. Lowell Ku is] an amazing heartfelt human being!! He listens and cares! The only upside to my infertility journey has been finding Dr. Ku!! His wife and himself have been through infertility so I feel as if he really gets it. He wants the same outcome as his patients! Previous doctors is was all about numbers and money, he doesn’t make you feel like you’re just a number. He always greets you with a huge smile and by name.
[The staff at Dallas IVF] are amazing and friendly. Everyone has their job in your care and takes it to heart. We had a mix up with billing when I first became a patient and they quickly helped me resolve it. Did not stress me out with deadlines to pay “or else” like some clinics. The sonographer is so sweet and tells you everything she sees and explains it...He [Dr. Ku] paid attention to how my body had previously responded to hormones and worked up a protocol just for me!

Dr Ku was always positive and wanted to do everything possible to have a successful pregnancy. He always explained the process and made sure I understood what would happen...The first cycle [he] only wanted to transfer one embryo. I had a miscarriage and for the second transfer he is comfortable with transferring two embryos...He included my husband as much as possible and was accommodating. He was busy alot but I didnt have to wait a crazy amount of time to see him.
Waiting area [at Dallas IVF] is small. The clinic seems to be pretty small with a couple exam rooms and a couple sonogram rooms. The front desk workers miscalculated my payments a couple times which resulted in me having a credit or sometimes having to pay more than expected...[cost]For 1 cycle roughly 14,000

I completed a IUI [with Dr. Ku] got pregnant, miscarried, conceived again shortly after and experienced another miscarriage. I was recently diagnosed with uterine polyps, surgery is scheduled this week. During this entire process Dr. Ku has been simply amazing. My husband has male factor infertility, and was very apprehensive about the process until we met with Dr. Ku. Dr. Ku used a drawing to help my husband and I understand the process and treatment plan. He provided us with options and explained each option throughly. When I wanted to give up several times, I was reminded that I am in good hands with Dr. Ku.

We have undergone 2 fully injectable IUI cycles with Dr. Ku. He has explained why that was best. I was on Follistim 900,Ganirelix and Ovidrel. I responded very well....He is a wonderful doctor. He is very caring and concerned. He explained everything well. He told us the percentage of likelihood of it working for each option. He has been willing to listen. He discusses the options best for us. He encourages us.... He listens to our opinions and works with us well.
The location [Dallas IVF] is convenient. The clinic is clean. The staff is friendly. I am always seen in a timely manner. Sono tech is really good at her job. I am hard to draw blood from and they do a great job.... The nurses and staff are excellent. I had great experiences with them.... [Cost Of Treatment] Approximately $4000 including meds per cycle.... He [Dr. Lowell Ku] was very responsive...He got me started fast and explained everything I needed to know. He explained my fertility issues in a very easy-to-understand way and also all the statistics around each type of treatment for my type of infertility. That was very helpful...he suggested IVF since I was getting older and my egg quality was always bad. He explained why he was using the drugs and the doses that he did because he wanted to get as many eggs as possible expecting that only a few would be useful.
We got 34 eggs [at Dallas IVF] and by day 5 there were 2 eggs to freeze and we decided to freeze them together because they were A/B and B/B quality and due to my age we knew we’d be transferring them both at the same time...The nurses were very helpful in coordinating all the needed medical testing and procedures needed...My only issue was that because I was traveling from out of state to do the transfer without my husband that I needed a notarized release from him that wasn’t communicated but we were able to get it handled with no problems. And, that’s such a rare thing to come for a transfer from far away that I am sure it doesn’t happen often. If you’re local it wouldn’t ever be an issue
How was your experience with Lowell Ku at Dallas IVF?
He was very responsive and didn’t suggest tons of rounds of ineffective IUI knowing my fertility background. He got me started fast and explained everything I needed to know. He explained my fertility issues in a very easy-to-understand way and also all the statistics around each type of treatment for my type of infertility. That was very helpful.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Lowell Ku at Dallas IVF?
Be ready to get started.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Lowell Ku at Dallas IVF?
The time I needed was taken with him every treatment. His bedside manner is attentive and reassuring.
Describe the protocols Lowell Ku used in your cycles at Dallas IVF and their degree of success.
He suggested 1 found if IUI which fight succeed. Then he suggested IVF since I was getting older and my egg quality was always bad. He explained why he was using the drugs and the doses that he did because he wanted to get as many eggs as possible expecting that only a few would be useful. He also suggested ICSI to get as high as possible if getting viable embryos. We got 34 eggs and by day 5 there were 2 eggs to freeze and we decided to freeze them together because they were A/B and B/B quality and due to my age we knew we’d be transferring them both at the same time. I took 6 months off to reset my hormones after the retrieval and got pregnant naturally (after 7 years of trying). So we left the embryos frozen for 3 years and 4 months and then had them transferred when that child was about 2 years old. We transferred both embryos together and 1 resulted in a viable pregnancy. Now our baby is 6 months old and doing great!
Describe your experience with the nursing staff at Dallas IVF.
They were nice and helpful. My experience was a bit abnormal as I moved from DFW to Utah before my transfer so I decided to fly back to Dallas for the transfer with Dr. Ku. The nurses were very helpful in coordinating all the needed medical testing and procedures needed before I got to Dallas. I arrived prepared.

It’s a great clinic. They were always helpful and attentive. My only issue was that because I was traveling from out of state to do the transfer without my husband that I needed a notarized release from him that wasn’t communicated but we were able to get it handled with no problems. And, that’s such a rare thing to come for a transfer from far away that I am sure it doesn’t happen often. If you’re local it wouldn’t ever be an issue

We paid out of pocket for everything except a few tests and medications.

Dr. Ku is amazing. I recommend everyone to him. We started our journey with him in 2014 with our first baby and recently tried again. We were successful this time as well but sadly miscarried. Dr. Ku and his staff have always been kind, welcoming, and honest...This last round, my wife had fibroids removed. After that we began treatment...I know she has had to use vaginal suppositories to speed up growth as well...He was so genuine and understanding in our sadness and excited and joyful in our happiness. We recommend everyone to him.
I believe with meds, sperm, minor surgery we paid just at 2500 for iui [at Dallas IVF]...The only weakness is that very rarely they run behind. Otherwise, the staff and facility are great. We have always felt welcomed and cared for. Everyone explains everything fully and how you can understand...This last round, my wife had fibroids removed. After that we began treatment. We did daily shots for two weeks and monitored folicle growth. After all was well, we triggered and went in for insemination. I can’t remember what the shots are called. I know she has had to use vaginal suppositories to speed up growth as well.
