How was your experience with Michael Zinger at RMA Long Island IVF (formerly Long Island IVF)?
Overall, Zinger has been pleasant and will call you back if you request that he call you however, as many others have pointed out in past reviews about RMA, you will not be seeing him very often until you have a positive pregnancy, which for many women that may mean for months at a time.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Michael Zinger at RMA Long Island IVF (formerly Long Island IVF)?
Prepare to deal with other members of staff far more often than the doctor himself. Advocate for yourself and be well informed on the whole process prior to starting a cycle at any clinic but especially RMA.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Michael Zinger at RMA Long Island IVF (formerly Long Island IVF)?
1. You will very rarely see your assigned doctor, so after doing the research and perhaps choosing one, he or she will not be there for the majority of your procedures. I have had most of the scans done by technicians or nurses. My two egg retrievals were actually done by a completely different doctor. I have spoken to my doctor a handful of times and that is merely because I have requested he call me. 2. Medication coordination is not well researched on their end. Their job, as it was explained to me, was to research the cheapest option for the individual patient. The clinic simply called my default pharmacy (CVS Specialty) and was told it was covered but at 100% patient responsibility. I called RMA to express that I was surprised this was the cheapest option given my experience with this pharmacy. I called the pharmacy and found I would have to pay close to 9,000 dollars for the one cycle. I then had to take the time to do my own research and call multiple pharmacies and compare pricing. I also asked the coordinator whether there were any rebate programs and was told she did not know of any. I then did the research and found Compassion Care and received 50% off three of the main medications after completing their application. When I told her about this, she admitted to knowing about it and congratulated me. In the end the pharmacy I chose cost less than 2500 dollars. 3. Billing will often take a long time to take payment from you because, “We are just that busy.” Meaning, they have so many people to process. That delayed my first cycle of IVF by two and half weeks. This is important given that as you will learn through your own journey, everything is dependent on when your period starts. And yes, this will only add to the sickening feeling that you are literally just a number, a rather expensive one at that. 4. When I started my first IUI cycle of 2021 I was told I would be prescribed 2.5 mg of Letrozole. I explained to the nurse calling with my prescription that in the past for my first three IUI cycles I was given 5 mg and responded well, ultimately becoming pregnant with the third cycle and having my daughter in 2019. I was told they wanted to try the 2.5 regardless. After the first failed cycle I asked to converse with the doctor to better evaluate how to move forward with the second cycle. The doctor then stated that yes, we could try 5 mg instead. I then received a call saying the medication had been sent to my pharmacy and that it was 2.5 mg. When I explained my conversation with the doctor the nurse said to me, “Oh, we just go off the screen when ordering medication and go with whatever was ordered last cycle.” As for IVF, after my first retrieval, I had 32 eggs retrieved; 21 were mature and inseminated using ICSI; 16 fertilized. The following week I received an update that only three embryos had made it to day five and were only graded as follows: 3BB, 3CB, and 3CB. As for me: I am 31 years old; normal AMH; normal FSH; normal HSG; normal saline sono; unexplained infertility; and many follicles. I have yet to be given a reason that would indicate that there is a direct issue that would have led to only three embryos of good to poor grading to result from an egg retrieval. I then asked to speak to the doctor and he said he was surprised by the results and we discussed what tests could be run, what could be done differently, and what next steps there were. I was then told the protocol in terms of medication would effectively stay the same and based on his explanation I agreed. As the following cycle approached and after speaking to another doctor I was told to ask about potentially increasing the trigger shot (i.e. Lupron), to which he said there would be no difference that he knows of but, “You could try it if you want.” When the nurse called with my trigger instructions and they remained the same I asked if she could verify whether the doctor wanted to make a change and she said to me, “40 IU is what we give everyone.” Overall, it feels as if medication is not something that is tailored to the individual. As for the medication being ordered, the week of the trigger, I had two separate sonos that showed vastly different results, which were chalked up to “user error.” Based on the vastly different scans this affected the medication protocol. I had completely run out of Gonal-F and Cetrotide and the nurse stated I should order 900 IU of Gonal-F with an additional three to four kits of Cetrotide despite the nurse performing the sono telling me most likely I would trigger that night or the following. I asked the nurse on the phone three to four times whether she was sure and she said absolutely, I even asked if I should order less Gonal-F since I was taking 200 IU at the time, she said yes. After some reluctance I placed the order. The following day my scan showed that I was ready to trigger and I was given a Gonal-F pen and Cetrotide kit from the attending nurse and told to cancel the order. Of course by then it was too late and I now had an additional 664 dollars worth of medication that would go unused. I remember being encouraged after my first egg retrieval to donate any medication that was leftover. So, instead of having me order all that extra medication they could have from the beginning offered me medication from the samples and donations they had. The nurse said she would reach out to the medication coordinator to see if there were something that could be done to help me. It took me asking on several occasions for an update when I finally got an answer that simply they were not to be held liable because it is better that I simply have more medication than not having enough. Again, if this were truly a concern, I should have been offered a dose of each medication from the donation collection as opposed to being told to purchase the max amount of medication.
Describe the protocols Michael Zinger used in your cycles at RMA Long Island IVF (formerly Long Island IVF) and their degree of success.
Because of my age and the fact that I had a diagnosis of unexplained fertility, no history of losses, and was successful with IUI in 2018 resulting in a live birth for my daughter in 2019 we first decided to try IUI again after trying for a year. After four failed IUIs we moved on and attempted an egg retrieval. Given my antral follicle count being high, I was given a fairly low dose of the standard medication including Gonal-F and Menopur for about a week, which was accompanied by Cetrotide after four days of stims. I triggered the first time using a combination of Lupron 40 IU and HCG. The HCG may have affected my egg quality and although 32 were retrieved, only three made it to blast and took until day 7 to get to that point of maturation. Of the three, two tested normal and the grades were 3BB and 3CB. Despite the fact that they weren't of the best grade and took so long to become a blast, the 3BB was transferred and of course, it failed. My doctor first stated I should try transferring the 3CB however, I did not think that was wise and urged we try again with an altered protocol resulting in my second egg retrieval. Gonal-F was slightly increased and the HCG trigger was removed. The second retrieval resulted in 36 eggs, 23 mature, 23 fertilized, 19 survived to the next day, 14 made it to blast. Of the 14 tested, 10 were normal with the best grades being 4BA, 3AA, and the worst being 3BB. More importantly, all of them made it to blast by day 5.
Describe your experience with your nurse at RMA Long Island IVF (formerly Long Island IVF). (Assigned nurse: Gabrielle)
As described earlier in the review, the nurses do not often communicate with the doctors, which will result in errors in ordering medication, which can then cost you hundreds of dollars. There are also various nurses that will draw blood or conduct your sonogram resulting in a mix of experiences and more important a difference in ultrasound interpretation. This can be crucial because for me it gave my team the wrong impression from one day to the next resulting in the wrong medication being ordered, which is costly and will not be used by you. Also, if they truly cared about your wellbeing, this would also include your financial wellbeing. Therefore, they should offer medication from their donation/ samples when in doubt about whether you need more medication.
Describe your experience with RMA Long Island IVF (formerly Long Island IVF).
Before I came to write this review, I had reached out to the patient advocate in hopes of finding a resolution to the financial missteps and at least some understanding as to when procedures resulted in me experiencing pain. I tried over the course of two months to work with someone in hopes of finding a solution and feeling cared for and in the end, RMA will continue to treat you solely as a number. The IVF billing coordinator is impatient and will often leave you in the dark as you await an answer. Many of the people you will come across lack a sense of humanity and will as other have mentioned yell at you or hang up on you when you try to point out how you have been treated or whether something is inaccurate. Although my nurse, Gabrielle often had made mistakes, she was never rude. I can attest that the other nurse, Jackie, has she has been described in other reviews is mean, impatient, and unapproachable from what I have witnessed on my visits to the office. So, I am thankful to have never been assigned her for my care. Billing is atrocious and the prices they charge are astronomical as I have mentioned in other areas of this review. If your insurance does not cover fertility treatment, they refuse to submit any portion to insurance at all and therefore you will not have the opportunity to pay the negotiated pricing for treatment. For example, for a beta blood draw, although my insurance would not cover it, they negotiate that it should not cost more than twenty three dollars. During a given cycle, a simple blood draw at the self pay rate will cost you hundreds. Some tests are done outside of a cycle and can be negotiated but that is rare.
Describe your experience with your monitoring appointments at RMA Long Island IVF (formerly Long Island IVF).
Because of COVID you would be assigned a specific time slot however, no one enforced this nor did anyone actually follow this so it was first come first seen. Often, a mix up would result in me waiting for an hour or two to have blood drawn because they mixed up the order in which we came in. They often do not book enough nurses to draw blood or complete the sonos so the wait time would often by long for that reason, as well.
Describe the costs associated with your care under Michael Zinger at RMA Long Island IVF (formerly Long Island IVF).
The initial cost upfront for a given retrieval and single transfer was 13,250. Anesthesia - 600.00 Biopsy for PGT Testing - 2,400.00 PGT Testing by outside lab - 150.00 for each embryo, after eight embryos 100.00 each. HSG (which will most likely be ordered) 900.00. Saline sono (which will be ordered) 750.00. So, approximately 17,900 before including how much each embryo being tested will cost you. Medication was an additional 2,500 the first round.
Describe Michael Zinger's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at RMA Long Island IVF (formerly Long Island IVF).
Dr. Zinger explained that given PGS, there would never be a need in transferring more than one embryo regardless of how many failed attempts. Given that I only needed a second transfer I cannot say whether I would have been fine with that philosophy several transfers down the line given that RMA charges 7,000 per additional transfer outside of the full IVF package.
What specific things went wrong at RMA Long Island IVF (formerly Long Island IVF)?
  • Failed to call in prescriptions to pharmacy
  • Lost paperwork
  • Lost appointments
  • Failed to call with results
  • Failed to order appropriate test
  • Failed to inform you of changes in protocol
  • Provided conflicting information
  • Failed to convey critical information
  • Failed to consider drug intolerance
  • Scheduled the wrong procedure
Describe the specific things that went wrong at RMA Long Island IVF (formerly Long Island IVF).
1. There is always very poor communication. For example, for the first IUI I received a call saying to report to Melville and my husband received a call to report to Lake Success (where our doctor is located). We later found out that all procedures are actually done at Melville and I had not called and we reported to Lake Success then we would have wasted his sample and missed the window for our procedure. 2. You will have to ask for any and all results directly, most phone calls will be to tell you “everything looks good” as opposed to actual drawings and measurements unless you ask. If you want physical copies, you will have to ask for this and sign multiple medical release forms each time you want the most updated info. Why they do not have an online portal with access to this information is unacceptable; their online portal is only for confirming and cancelling appointments. 3. Their self-pay prices are astronomical. An HSG test is $900 out of pocket, while ten minutes away at a local radiology facility it would have cost max $300 out of pocket but since they bothered to put it through insurance I only paid about $120. I only found out this was an option when I asked if there were other options. Later I found out in the notes that billing took credit for this and supposedly volunteered this information when I first tried expressing my overall concerns to management. 4. Despite asking to be seen by the anesthesiologist promptly to anyone I spoke to in the days prior, I found out I was second on the OR list that day. Upon getting there I found out that I was second out of two. So, despite expressing my concerns they still chose to put someone ahead of me although we arrived at similar times. To be clear, that many follicles are VERY rare so no, many people will not have felt the pain I had felt to the extent that I did.

I didn’t get to see Dr. Zinger much so I had to deal with the nurse who did 2 of my IUI’s.... Dr. Zinger was very nice during my 1st consultation. He was referred to me by my Gyn doctor at the time. Dr. Zinger gave me some informative information my 1st visit. After that I didn’t really deal with him much.... it will be nice if the doctors will be more involved instead of leaving it up to the nurses.
I was using donor sperm and for some reason the shipment got messed up so my husband had to go and get it. When he came back they [nurse - Long Island IVF] took it along with the paperwork. I waited for almost an hour before she came out yelling at me. She was say I did something to the paperwork basically accusing me of a crime. I was in shocked, confused and emotional on a full bladder.

Two of my IUI cycles he had me on Clomid, progesterone suppository and Ovidrel 250mcg (trigger shot). One cycle I had to take letrozole because there was a shortage on clomid.

She’s a very cold person, she doesn’t communicate well during ultrasounds. She really only talk to you if you’re asking her a question. My last interaction with her was so horrible.

The strengths this clinic has is the woman who handles the billing. She was so helpful and nice to me every time. The weakness is the lack of communication they have with themselves and their patients. Also it will be nice if the doctors will be more involved instead of leaving it up to the nurses.
Describe the costs associated with your care under Michael Zinger at RMA Long Island IVF (formerly Long Island IVF).
The only cost I had was for the medication and the donor sperm. With the medication I think I had to pay a $125 deductible.

When he came back they took it along with the paperwork. I waited for almost an hour before she came out yelling at me. She was say I did something to the paperwork basically accusing me of a crime. I was in shocked, confused and emotional on a full bladder. My husband tried to calm her down by saying he will call the bank to find out what happened. She didn’t want any parts of us so she canceled the IUI. She said we will have to come back the next day. The ladies at the front desk were in shock as well on how she was acting. At this point I’m crying and embarrassed because she did this in the waiting area. The young ladies at the front desk kept apologizing on her behalf. I came back the next day thinking I was going to get my IUI done. I waited for almost 2 hours. Finally I get called to come into the back to sit in Dr. Zingers office not an exam room. He basically told me that due to the mixup with the paperwork for the donor sperm he doesn’t feel comfortable performing the IUI. I explained to him I understand that 100% but the way me and my husband was treated was unacceptable. I am not sure if she treated us this way because of the color of our skin or because husband is a trans man. I just know how extremely disrespectful this nurse was and how bad she made me feel. That was my last time there.

Dr Zinger was always in touch with me during the whole process. It was easy to communicate via email and phone. He answered all my questions regarding IUI and IVF process. When I had miscarriage, he was the one who comforted me and gave me a hope that everything will be fine. ... We used progesterone in oil and estrogen pills during my frozen embryo transfer. It worked but I miscarried on my 7th week.
My nurse Jackie was so passionate about the result! We communicate on the daily basis and I knew I can call and email her anytime ... It had good experience with monitoring appointments. I did my blood work and sonograms right before my work. They did not have lines, everything was done within 15 minutes. ... The clinic is pretty good and staff is always ready to help. I did my retrieval and transfers there. When dr Zinger performed my d&c I had a huge support from nurses. One weakness for me, I live to far from the clinic so I took days off to do all my procedures

Michael zinger had great bedside manner. he was educated, knowledgeable. the only thing I would have wished he had done differently was opt in for the ICSI. he felt I would absolutely not need it, however we only got one fertilized egg out of 14. I wish he would have played it safer and done the ICSI.... office staff was warm and welcoming, knew us by name. available for questions. never rushed out of the office. was seen in a timely manner
the ckinic [Long Island IVF-Brooklyn] was clean, knowledgeable, organized, helpful, efficient parking right outside the clinic was no problem for early morning appts, scarce in the afternoon. there was a parking garage 1 block over.... [For monitoring] get to the office at 6am. a few minutes later there will be a line.... worked like a well oiled machine. 4 hour window for monitoring.

I felt everyone in Dr. Zingers office was invested in the success of my IVF. I also found Dr.Zinger to be very compassionate and respectful of my and my husbands struggle with infertility...I felt like she [my nurse] was there just for me. She made sure I understood everything.
When my first cycle failed they immediately advised me to start another cycle. My meds were ordered and delivered to me. They did not contact my insurance to see where my budget was. My insurance had run out for infertility services at some point during my first cycle. I was lucky that the pharmacy took the meds back and refunded my money. However, I was still responsible for approx. $4,000 worth of services.

He was very kind and answered all of our questions. It is when we started our journey, so we were scared. He made us very comfortable....He was there through every consult and procedure. He explained every step. When the sperm count was too low he made sure we were connected with the best urologist. He honestly did everything he could and never made us felt like a number....Although Dr. Zinger is now on the East Coast, I would have recommend him to everyone. His bedside manner is second to none...Dr. Zinger and team really made sure all of our questions were answered and made us feel comfortable through each step..
When we went to this clinic [Adv IVF - Ch Miller] back in 2005, everyone was fantastic and took care of us. We were new on our journey and it was quite overwhelming. Dr. Zinger and team really made sure all of our questions were answered and made us feel comfortable through each step....e was there through every consult and procedure. He explained every step. When the sperm count was too low he made sure we were connected with the best urologist. He honestly did everything he could and never made us felt like a number...He was very kind and answered all of our questions. It is when we started our journey, so we were scared. He made us very comfortable.

Dr. Zinger is extremely kind and knowledgeable...knows what will work and adjusts your treatment accordingly...respectfully sets expectations so I never left disappointed. If I ever had any questions, he would respond quickly, even after hours, and always left me feeling reassured and optimistic...always came into the room very cheerful. His treatment resulted in my healthy baby girl and another one the way!
[RMA Long Island IVF (formerly Long Island IVF) is] close to public transportation and major highways. Their monitoring hours worked for my schedule and most times they moved very quickly through all of the appointments...Only a handful of times I had to wait what I thought was an unreasonable amount of time. However I received an apology and explanation for the wait.

Dr. Zinger explained everything in a kind and compassionate manner, in a way that I was able to understand fully.
Describe the protocols Michael Zinger used in your cycles at RMA Long Island IVF (formerly Long Island IVF) and their degree of success.
After the initial consultation and testing, we were diagnosed with male factor infertility. Therefore, had to skip IUI and go straight to IVF. Medication was started right away and weeks later, I went in for my egg retrieval. The retrieval resulted in 18 eggs, 15 mature, 11 fertilized, and 6 day 5 embryos after ICSI. My husband and I decided not to test any of them. 1 was transferred via fresh cycle but unfortunately ended in a miscarriage at 8 weeks. Dr. Zinger was very supportive during this time and tried to look for the cause of the miscarriage in conjunction with my OBGYN. I knew I wanted to try again right away so the team monitored my HCG and as soon as it went back to 0, we prepared for a frozen embryo transfer. After starting medication again, I was ready for it about 10 weeks after the miscarriage. The resulting pregnancy was uneventful and I delivered my beautiful and healthy baby girl 9 months later. When my daughter was 9 months old, my husband and I decided we wanted to start the process for another child. We went in for a consultation with Dr. Zinger, who informed us that it would be best to wait until our daughter was weaned off breastfeeding as the medication will affect my supply. Because breastfeeding for the first year was very important to me, we waited until her first birthday to start the next frozen embryo transfer. As soon as my next menstrual cycle started I began the medications and monitoring. The team adjusted my medication schedule to line up with Dr. Zinger’s OR day so he was able to do my transfer this time. It was successful and he graduated me to my OBGYN at 6 weeks pregnant. I am now 11.5 weeks and anxiously looking forward to the next few months.
Describe your experience with your nurse at RMA Long Island IVF (formerly Long Island IVF). (Assigned nurse: Kaitlyn and Gabby)
I had Kaitlyn for my first 2 transfers and Gabby for the most recent one. Both were very kind and responsive to my calls and questions.
Describe your experience with RMA Long Island IVF (formerly Long Island IVF).
Lake success is very close to my house, close to public transportation and major highways. Their monitoring hours worked for my schedule and most times they moved very quickly through all of the appointments. There was maybe only 3 occasions I had to wait a long time to be called. The exam rooms are a bit small but I know they are waiting to move into their newly renovated suite. Front desk staff is very helpful and phlebotomists are very experienced.
Describe your experience with your monitoring appointments at RMA Long Island IVF (formerly Long Island IVF).
Most times, monitoring appointments were efficient, quick and ran smoothly. Only a handful of times I had to wait what I thought was an unreasonable amount of time. However I received an apology and explanation for the wait.
Describe the costs associated with your care under Michael Zinger at RMA Long Island IVF (formerly Long Island IVF).
In 2019 and 2020, my insurance covered 75% of my treatment. I believe I had to pay around $6,000 out of pocket for all costs associated with 1 egg retrieval and 2 transfers, including copays and medication. In 2021, insurance covered 100%, I only paid for copays for ultrasounds and medication.
Describe Michael Zinger's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at RMA Long Island IVF (formerly Long Island IVF).
At my age, Dr. Zinger advised that he would only transfer 1 embryo because the risk of multiples if transferring more than one is high.

[Dr. Zinger] is always available to answer questions, clarify concepts and be patient with an anxious couple. We have received phone calls or emails from [him] on weekends, quick replies to emails with questions about procedures that we had researched. Most importantly, he has gentle hands, during all examinations, he was caring and gentle...not upset or bothered when we had questions based on articles/books we read. He always encouraged us to get informed and he would kindly explain his perspective based on his experience and research.
Everyone at the practice [RMA Long Island IVF (formerly Long Island IVF)] is caring, polite and kind. You feel like a human and not just a number. Even when there is an issue, the team does not take it personal and try their best to help resolve the issue...the only department that might need improvement is the billing department...everyone else was so nice that we were willing to put up with rudeness once in a while.
How was your experience with Michael Zinger at RMA Long Island IVF (formerly Long Island IVF)?
As mentioned before, Dr. Zinger has an excellent bedside manner. He was not upset or bothered when we had questions based on articles/books we read. He always encouraged us to get informed and he would kindly explain his perspective based on his experience and research. It has been difficult to find an OBGYN doctor that matches the level of Dr. Zinger. If I could give him 12/10, I would!
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Michael Zinger at RMA Long Island IVF (formerly Long Island IVF)?
Ask away! Dr. Zinger is one of the few doctors that is willing to listen to your concerns and explain terminology. He was never dismissive or made us feel like our concerns were silly. He always validated our concerns but explained, “in my experience…. Also, research shows…” Dr. Zinger is the best!

We have received phone calls or emails from Dr. Zinger on weekends, quick replies to emails with questions about procedures that we had researched. It was a blessing to find Dr. Zinger!
Describe the protocols Michael Zinger used in your cycles at RMA Long Island IVF (formerly Long Island IVF) and their degree of success.
After 4 failed IUIs at another practice, Dr. Zinger started us in the IVF path. We started with an examination and genetic testing for my partner and me. We then moved to producing and maturing as many eggs as possible for retrieval. Once I was ready, retrieval took place. Dr zinger did the transfer and constantly monitored progress. In terms of medication, we went to the office almost every other day to monitor the blood levels and adjust medication accordingly.
Describe your experience with your nurse at RMA Long Island IVF (formerly Long Island IVF). (Assigned nurse: Ayelette)
The nurses drawing the blood were always welcoming and kind. The sonographer was also pleasant. The only person that was difficult during this process was the billing department (Lissette). Even the receptionists were always smiling and nice.
Describe your experience with RMA Long Island IVF (formerly Long Island IVF).
Everyone at the practice is caring, polite and kind. You feel like a human and not just a number. Even when there is an issue, the team does not take it personal and try their best to help resolve the issue. Nothing is perfect and the only department that might need improvement is the billing department. We dealt with Lissette and every time we spoke she talked down to us and made us feel like we were inconveniencing when trying to understand the charges. In all honesty, everyone else was so nice that we were willing to put up with rudeness once in a while.
Describe the costs associated with your care under Michael Zinger at RMA Long Island IVF (formerly Long Island IVF).
My insurance covered most of my costs. We did have a $4,400 charge for genetic testing but it was waved due to a balanced translocation.

[Dr. Michael Zinger] presented the option of doing 2 back to back retrievals while I still had a decent egg count so we could get enough embryos to have a good chance for 3 successful transfers. I really appreciated this advice and insight...spoke with me at length, answering all my questions and concerns while we were trying to make a decision...supportive of our journey...always had my best interest at heart.
The team [at RMA Long Island IVF (formerly Long Island IVF)] was great...It's a challenging time and the staff did their best to be friendly and made me feel welcome... I was usually in and out pretty quickly so that was great. Describe the protocols Michael Zinger used in your cycles at RMA Long Island IVF (formerly Long Island IVF) and their degree of success.
I really appreciated that we went over all the options and all the pros and cons. Since I am 37 and would like 3 children, he presented the option of doing 2 back to back retrievals while I still had a decent egg count so we could get enough embryos to have a good chance for 3 successful transfers. I really appreciated this advice and insight. IVF is challenging and I am happy I knew all the pros and cons so we could make the best decision for our family. Dr. Zinger spoke with me at length, answering all my questions and concerns while we were trying to make a decision. He was very supportive of our journey and I felt like he always had my best interest at heart.
Describe your experience with your nurse at RMA Long Island IVF (formerly Long Island IVF). (Assigned nurse: Gabby)
The team was great. My experience with IVF treatment, all the medication and going for bloodwork or tests every other day or every few days at the crack of dawn, was that I sometimes felt like a medical experiment. It's a challenging time and the staff did their best to be friendly and made me feel welcome.
Describe your experience with RMA Long Island IVF (formerly Long Island IVF).
The clinic was in the middle of a renovation so I can't really comment on the clinic itself. I was usually in and out pretty quickly so that was great. The billing department was also quick and efficient so that helped keep things moving.
Describe the costs associated with your care under Michael Zinger at RMA Long Island IVF (formerly Long Island IVF).
I believe IVF and transfer was approx $15,000 plus medications.
Describe Michael Zinger's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at RMA Long Island IVF (formerly Long Island IVF).
Dr. Zinger would not transfer more than 1 embryo because the success rate at RMA is very high. More than 1 embryo could cause complications. Although I have always wanted twins, I understood the reasoning.

We are an LGBT female couple who had an ectopic pregnancy with a tube rupture after IUI. We then went through IVF at Dr. Zinger's recommendation with 1 egg retrieval and 2 embryo transfers - 1 live birth and 1 active pregnancy...very accessible and responsive...goes out of his way to bring comfort during difficult times as things do not always go as expected...
[RMA Long Island IVF (formerly Long Island IVF)] is wonderful and I have already recommended them to others, particularly in the LGBT community...thorough and well organized throughout the entire process. The only issue I had was lack of pain management following the egg retrieval as after 45 eggs, I was in a great deal of pain for the remainder of the day that I felt could have been managed better in a humane way. Dr. Zinger was not the one who had performed the retrieval and the physician and nursing staff were not compassionate about the pain level I was experiencing following the procedure.
How was your experience with Michael Zinger at RMA Long Island IVF (formerly Long Island IVF)?
Dr. Zinger made the stressful journey of IVF easier through constant communication and a clear outline of what to expect along the way. He goes out of his way to bring comfort during difficult times as things do not always go as expected and has a very warm and professional bedside manner. I would not go anywhere else for care in future cycles.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Michael Zinger at RMA Long Island IVF (formerly Long Island IVF)?
Be open and honest about any concerns along the way as he was able to give us comfort and information that greatly eased our fears.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Michael Zinger at RMA Long Island IVF (formerly Long Island IVF)?
He made my care feel very personal and was clearly an expert in the field. He was also very accessible and responsive throughout our infertility journey. Dr Zinger went above and beyond to make sure we were well informed.

Dr. Zinger was not the one who had performed the retrieval and the physician and nursing staff were not compassionate about the pain level I was experiencing following the procedure. It was excruciating on the side where I had an overactive ovary with the bulk of the 45 eggs. The other side with the more normal responding ovary was barely uncomfortable so I understand that standard protocols would not warrant much pain management. Otherwise, the clinic is great and provides top notch care.
Describe your experience with your monitoring appointments at RMA Long Island IVF (formerly Long Island IVF).
Monitoring was very efficient with blood draws and sonograms in the morning during a window.
Describe the costs associated with your care under Michael Zinger at RMA Long Island IVF (formerly Long Island IVF).
I was lucky in that it was mostly covered by my employer for both IUI and IVF. The genetic testing for the embryos was a few grand.

Dr. Zinger provides the advantages and disadvantages for the different procedures/scenarios. He made feel understood throughout the treatment. He is patient, understanding and supportive. I would have liked to see him more during the IUI process...He is willing to answer your questions. Depending on the treatment you may see him more or less.
Most of the [RMA Long Island] nurses that I came across were supportive and amiable. Care coordinator was supportive even though there were a few mix ups...Warm and welcoming. On call team can be a little more helpful...Appointment reminders were helpful. The billing process has been very inconsistent. Even the information provided on the cost of treatment was not clear in the beginning..

Dr. Zinger is the perfect balance of compassionate and straight forward. He doesn't sugar coat anything and is very honest about the science and research. How was your experience with Michael Zinger at RMA Long Island IVF (formerly Long Island IVF)?
During the arduous process of IVF we made great strides and had large setbacks. Unfortunately with IVF there's no way to predict the process but Dr. Zinger set us up through the process as best anyone can. He showed sadness and disappointment during the times things that should have worked - didn't and showed complete happiness when things worked out. He explains every aspect of the process to a T and never judges you for asking a million questions. He is very much involved in his patients files and remembers you as a person and not a number. I truly cannot recommend Dr. Zinger enough. If only all physicians were like Dr. Zinger this world would be so much better off.

We did more of an aggressive approach the last two egg retrievals because of my age...Unfortunately my egg quality was poor. Dr. Zinger also recommended genetic testing. I was hesitant at first, but again he was accurate on every aspect of my journey...He wanted to make sure I have a healthy pregnancy and baby... a hard and scary process, but he kept me level headed...
It’s a very disheartening process, but they [staff at RMA Long Island IVF (formerly Long Island IVF)] were always there with a warm smile...monitoring is an early morning process. There are many offices that you are able to go to depending on your location...We had co-payments. Genetic testing was paid out of pocket..only transferred one embryo at a time...[Dr. Zinger] wanted to make sure I have a healthy pregnancy and baby.

We did more of an aggressive approach the last two egg retrievals because of my age. We also wanted to get as many eggs out as we could. There were more injections. He wanted to make sure I have a healthy pregnancy and baby. My last egg retrieval was unsuccessful with no normal embryos produced. It broke my heart, but Dr. Zinger was there and gave me my options. Now I am pregnant again from the embryo from my third egg retrieval. He never lost hope.

Describe your experience with RMA Long Island IVF (formerly Long Island IVF).
I think the clinic was amazing. It’s a very disheartening process, but they were always there with a warm smile. New patients need to know that monitoring is an early morning process. There are many offices that you are able to go to depending on your location.

Dr. Zinger said my best option to conceive was IVF but my insurance required that I complete 3 IUIs first. So we obliged. We both knew they wouldn’t work but we remained steadfast and patient...IVF worked on the first try...personally called me with results and options when necessary. Anytime I emailed him, he responded quickly. Any question I had, he had an answer for.
Heading into the office [RMA Long Island IVF (formerly Long Island IVF)] every morning, they greeted me by my first name, like Cheers...never waited long especially for morning monitoring...very personable and care about every patient who walks through the door...My insurance took care of everything. I only paid for my donor and 1or 2 meds with a low co pay...

Off the bat , Dr. Zinger said my best option to conceive was IVF but my insurance required that I complete 3 IUIs first. So we obliged. We both knew they wouldn’t work but we remained steadfast and patient. IUIs we’re treated with clomid, trigger shots, etc. IVF worked on the first try. The hardest part was the progesterone but that was only because I did everything by myself.
Describe your experience with your nurse at RMA Long Island IVF (formerly Long Island IVF). (Assigned nurse: Gabby)
They were always attentive and answered every question and call I sent their way. I loved my staff.
Describe your experience with RMA Long Island IVF (formerly Long Island IVF).
They ran efficiently. I never waited long especially for morning monitoring. They are very personable and care about every patient who walks through the door. There isn’t one person running everything which is helpful when directing your concerns. I spoke to billing all the time but that was an insurance issue, not them.
Describe the costs associated with your care under Michael Zinger at RMA Long Island IVF (formerly Long Island IVF).
My insurance took care of everything. I only paid for my donor and 1or 2 meds with a low co pay
Describe Michael Zinger's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at RMA Long Island IVF (formerly Long Island IVF).
He strongly suggested a single embryo because multiple embryos was too high risk but I agreed as well. My goal is to have one more child.

Dr.Zinger was very efficient and impressive. From the 1st visit I knew I found the right place for me. I had been trying naturally for 1 year with no luck in Ovulating. He was very transparent with the whole process and timing...[our protocol consisted of] Thyroid test every month, Genetic testing, Day 3 blood work, Letrozol and IUI..
Nurses [of RMA Long Island IVF] were always on point. They answered all my questions and they were very patient...early appointments, rapid bloodwork results and they offered everything in one place. The entire staff is very efficient, friendly and helpful...My recommendation is to always ask questions when unsure the staff will answer. I was very overwhelmed when I 1st came but I felt at ease when I started my process here.

Dr.Zinger was always professional and understanding. He responded very quickly to any emails that I sent him, not matter how many questions I had. He was always optimistic and would change things up every time with every try...My current pregnancy we had tested the embryos and were only allowed to transfer one. Previously with in tested embryos we transferred 2.
Strengths [of RMA Long Island IVF] would be all the different locations and their hours of operation are very fitting if you work. They do get pretty busy and they are a very big clinic so be aware of that. Nurses are great and welcoming, Dr.Zinger was very professional end caring...Out of pocket for 2 egg retrieval’s, 1 fresh transfer and 3 frozen we probably paid somewhere around 15k including medications co pays.
