How was your experience with Robert Kiltz at CNY Fertility Center?
Although we did not see Dr. Kiltz at every appointment, the times we did were very memorable. The first time we met him was after our miscarriage and he not only showed us compassion but agreed that it sucked. We appreciated that he didn't try to cheer us up. However, he also encouraged us to visualize the future with children and that helped us move forward with hope. Anytime we would see Dr. Kiltz, he would sympathize with us that infertility treatment was hard. He was always so passionate, friendly, enthusiastic, and thorough. He always listened when I had questions and I never felt intimated like I have with other doctors.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Robert Kiltz at CNY Fertility Center?
Ask him any and all questions you have! He listens and cares and encourages questions. Don't be afraid to be your own advocate - pay attention to what the nurses and doctors are saying and doing, and what to expect at your next appointment - it helps if you're all on the same page and understand the language/treatment.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Robert Kiltz at CNY Fertility Center?
At the beginning of our time at CNY Fertility, we felt like a number... we did 1 letrozole/timed intercourse cycle, 2 letrozole/IUI cycles, and 1 letrozole/injectables/IUI cycle (which we got pregnant & then miscarried). Through these cycles, I felt that things fell through the cracks at times and that the clinic had too many patients. After our miscarriage, things changed - partly because we started to become our own advocate, we actually met Dr. Kiltz, and had consistency with the nurses we saw. When we were monitored regularly during/after our miscarriage, I didn't feel like a number anymore. Then Dr. Kiltz performed my laparoscopy and we took time off to recover. For our 4th and 5th IUIs, we requested the same nurse each time and that was a GAME CHANGER! We felt heard, cared for, and invested in.
Describe the protocols Robert Kiltz used in your cycles at CNY Fertility Center and their degree of success.
For my first two IUIs (both negative), I did intralipid infusion 1-2x, triggered with lupron & took letrozole, z-pack, progesterone suppositories, baby aspirin, and prednisone.
For my 3rd IUI (positive/early miscarriage), I did intralipid infusion 1-2x, triggered with lupron & took letrozole, 75iu gonal-f, progesterone suppositories, baby aspirin, and prednisone.
For all 3 of these IUIs, my diagnosis was "unexplained infertility."
After my miscarriage, I underwent a laparoscopy - endometriosis, scar tissue, and an endometrioma were all removed.
For my 4th IUI (negative), I did weekly intralipid infusion & acupuncture the day of the IUI, triggered with ovidrel & took letrozole, 150iu gonal-f, cetrotide, z-pack, progesterone suppositories, baby aspirin, and prednisone.
And for my 5th and final IUI (positive/twins) - Dr. Kiltz changed things considerably and took an approach as if autoimmune/elevated NK cells were an issue as well (our insurance wouldn't cover the tests): I did weekly intralipid infusion & acupuncture, triggered with ovidrel & took letrozole, gonal-f, cetrotide, baby aspirin, prednisone, prograf, lovenox, NEOQ10, progesterone suppositories, and progesterone-in-oil injections.
Describe your experience with the nursing staff.
At CNY Fertility, you are not assigned a specific nurse. For our first 3 IUIs, we would see whoever called us back. By our 4th IUI, we knew which nurses we preferred and would request certain ones. There were 2-4 blood draw nurses we liked, and 2-3 ultrasound nurses we liked. Our experience at CNY Fertility improved greatly when we began requesting our favorite nurses. For our last IUI, we saw the same nurse every time - Meg - and she was phenomenal! I cannot say enough great things about her. She is invested, thorough, compassionate, honest, no-nonsense, knowledgable. She always encouraged questions and made sure we left all on the same page. Once we got pregnant, Meg spent lots of time with us during ultrasounds pointing out features and making it a wonderful experience for us.
