Success w/ Doc Too early to know
Dr. De la Torre has been phenomenal with our care. She is extremely empathetic and passionate...She knew me by my first name the second time I saw her. Dr. De la Torre makes sure she is involved in multiple steps of the process...She takes what she knows and her experience, but also includes your ideas when moving forward with treatment...I have already referred 4 of her patients now and they all have great things to say about her.
Strengths: the [Seattle Reproductive Medicine clinic] Everett office is by far my favorite office. I feel like more resources are offered, the staff are friendlier and it is more convenient overall for scheduling in all aspects...She [the nurse at Seattle Reproductive Medicine] responds quickly, gives me detailed responses and is able to talk with me about the concerns and questions I have.

As mentioned previously, Dr. De la Torre is great. I have never felt like I was being listened to by other healthcare professionals until I was in her care. She takes what she knows and her experience, but also includes your ideas when moving forward with treatment.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Sarah de la Torre at Seattle Reproductive Medicine?
I have already referred 4 of her patients now and they all have great things to say about her. I am very sad that moving onto IVF will not allow us to continue seeing her.

Describe the protocols Sarah de la Torre used in your cycles at Seattle Reproductive Medicine and their degree of success.
Letrozole 7.5 two weeks with times intercourse and Ovidrel shot x3 Gonal F injections with the hope of scheduling an IUI, but the meds failed. At this point, we decided to take a break and then Covid-19 happened.

Jenna (same name but different location), is good. She responds quickly, gives me detailed responses and is able to talk with me about the concerns and questions I have.

She [Dr. de la Torre] was kind, listened and was empathetic. She gave me time and space to cry out my feelings, and explained things without making us feel dumb. She listed our options, made recommendations and welcomed questions. We never felt like she was in a hurry to be done with us and on to the next patient...Her holistic approach is exactly what I was hoping for in my ideal fertility care team...She did not spew statistics at us like some other doctors might have, but in a reassuring and specific-to-us way she told us that we were doing everything right, and that it's just simply genetics.
the friendly staff [at Seattle Reproductive Medicine], calm atmosphere and extreme cleanliness left us feeling more at ease than any other doctors waiting room had before...Very compassionate and helpful nursing staff at SRM...They made me feel like it was never a problem to call any time with questions or concerns. I always felt heard and seen, not dismissed or judged like in some other doctors offices...All the staff we have encountered at each location has been warm, friendly and helpful.
How was your experience with Sarah de la Torre at Seattle Reproductive Medicine?
This was the moment I knew I trusted Dr. de la Torre: She confirmed that none of this was our fault. She did not spew statistics at us like some other doctors might have, but in a reassuring and specific-to-us way she told us that we were doing everything right, and that it's just simply genetics. I didn't realize how important it was to me at the time, but to have a specialist acknowledge this piece of it, to not judge or place blame, its exactly what I needed to hear. It made me feel safe and at ease in her care.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Sarah de la Torre at Seattle Reproductive Medicine?
Go see her! Her holistic approach is exactly what I was hoping for in my ideal fertility care team.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Sarah de la Torre at Seattle Reproductive Medicine?
My husband and I had been trying to conceive for 3 years when we went to see Dr. de la Torre at Seattle Reproductive Medicine. Previous experiences with OBGYN offices had left me feeling sad and discarded on an already very isolating journey. We left our house hours early to catch a ferry and were both nervous. Once we arrived, the friendly staff, calm atmosphere and extreme cleanliness left us feeling more at ease than any other doctors waiting room had before. We were early, and Dr. de la Torre made herself available to us early when she did not have to. She was kind, listened and was empathetic. She gave me time and space to cry out my feelings, and explained things without making us feel dumb. She listed our options, made recommendations and welcomed questions. We never felt like she was in a hurry to be done with us and on to the next patient, and our concerns/questions were addressed as they cropped up through the course of the appointment. It made a world of difference to have a Doctor like her in an already highly emotional and overwhelming time. We walked out of our initial appointment feeling more powerful and hopeful than ever, and like we finally had a plan. It was an empowering experience.
Describe the protocols Sarah de la Torre used in your cycles at Seattle Reproductive Medicine and their degree of success.
I have a diminished ovarian reserve, and my husband has high sperm count, but abnormal motility and morphology. We have been trying for 3 years since I was 30 and he was 31. We were able to get in to SRM the beginning of March 2020, right before the coronavirus blew up. Since we are still fairly young she thought the best way forward would be IUI paired with letrozole days 3-5 of my cycle, an ultrasound to measure follicle size and count, and a trigger shot of ovridel to help stimulate ovulation. We just ended our 1st cycle, which unfortunately didn't end in pregnancy, but we have high hopes for round 2.
Describe your experience with the nursing staff at Seattle Reproductive Medicine.
Very compassionate and helpful nursing staff at SRM. When some of my blood work came back I had concerns and really needed some answers, i called and left a message for the nursing team around 3:30pm, and got a call back within an hour or so. They were quick to respond and encouraging when they did. They made me feel like it was never a problem to call any time with questions or concerns. I always felt heard and seen, not dismissed or judged like in some other doctors offices.
Describe your experience with Seattle Reproductive Medicine.
There are several SRM locations in the Seattle area, we have been to 3 of them. Since the coronavirus took hold, we have had to be flexible and lean in to the ongoing changes in care/location. We don't really mind though, we are just glad that our treatment is continuing and not cancelled like so many others. Overall, SRM clinics have been clean, welcoming and cozy. Seattle's clinic has beautiful views of Lake Union, Everett's clinic is brand new and is simply gorgeous, and Tacoma's clinic was clean and bright, albeit a bit smaller. All the staff we have encountered at each location has been warm, friendly and helpful.
Describe the costs associated with your care under Sarah de la Torre at Seattle Reproductive Medicine.
We have only completed 1 cycle so far, so the initial consultation, a follow up phone call with the Dr, blood work, ultrasound and the IUI procedure/medicine have cost us about $850 so far. We anticipate another $100-$200 in bills to come prior to starting our next cycle.

[Dr. Sarah de la Torre] was great to work with...I was able to see her 3-4 times total and it was great to have her do my final ultrasound with her before graduating from the clinic. She was very realistic with numbers and explained everything fully. After receiving additional numbers, she swapped over treatment plans straight to IUI without timed medication cycles...she did not feel an update was needed after the first IUI. She did mention if the second failed, we may have changed protocols.
Strength [of Seattle Reproductive Medicine]- Works with you and is open in a variety of locations. Very open about financing concerns and what will be billed typically. Weaknesses - Missed communication issue with freezing sperm sample which we are dealing with mitigating right now...[nurses are] Great and easy to work with. My care coordinator Jenna had a group of people I could talk to regarding finance, nutrition, and counselling if required.

Describe the protocols Sarah de la Torre used in your cycles at Seattle Reproductive Medicine and their degree of success.
1) Letrozole (5mg cd3-7) and Timed Intercourse every other day for three cycles. This was cancelled due to SA. 2) Perform HSG (Optional, but we did opt in) to confirm everything was open and not blocked. 3) Letrozole (5mg cd3-7) and IUI with Timed Intercourse leading up to IUI and after IUI. We took two rounds and she did not feel an update was needed after the first IUI. She did mention if the second failed, we may have changed protocols.
