My experience with Dr. Moayeri is a refreshing one, and one of much relief after the poor experiences my husband and I encountered with other physicians...I was given a 0% chance of conceiving, and Dr. Moayeri took on that challenge -successfully- and gave us hope once again. Additionally, without her tenacity and professionalism, we would not have been able to have our procedures covered by my insurance. Her continued support, medication loans, and advocacy on our behalf made it clear to the insurance company that we were not going to go down without a fight.
The nursing staff [at OC Fertility] is sensitive, are tenacious advocates for their patients, and very knowledgeable. The staff and Dr. Moayeri take every birth and loss personally. They grieve and celebrate along with their patients as they experience the pain of miscarriages and the joys of live births...One of the many strengths of the clinic is organization. Every appointment begins and ends on time without compromising quality, humanism, and care. An area of improvement would be to increase patient parking. The limited parking is understandably an issue out of their control, but maybe a solution can be reached by collaborating with other physicians in the building.
How was your experience with Sharon E. Moayeri at OC Fertility?
My experience with Dr. Moayeri is a refreshing one, and one of much relief after the poor experiences my husband and I encountered with other physicians. Before Dr. Moayeri, I had been discouraged from pursuing motherhood by other insensitive physicians. I was given a 0% chance of conceiving, and Dr. A fight we ultimately won!
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Sharon E. Moayeri at OC Fertility?
Trust the process and trust Dr. Moayeri's instructions. She is a true artist in her craft and will exhaust all possibilities before giving up. Going through infertility treatment is an emotional roller coaster, but Dr. Moayeri will not let you ride it alone. She will be your personal cheerleader and hold your hand through all the ups, downs, and loops.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Sharon E. Moayeri at OC Fertility?
Every consultation was more than your typical doctor's visit. My husband and I felt supported, educated, and well informed every step of the way. Sitting down with her was like sitting down with a friend full of compassion, sympathy, and a passion for bringing our dream of parenthood to fruition. During one of our many cycles, we experienced the unfortunate passing of my father. Dr. Moayeri demonstrated concern for my well being during this trying time by calling me every day to offer her help as a friend and physician.
Describe the protocols Sharon E. Moayeri used in your cycles at OC Fertility and their degree of success.
My cycles with Dr. Moayeri were all IUIs. Due to clotting issues and uterine infections, cycles were preceded by bacteria-specific antibiotics as well as D-dimer and other serum tests to prepare for a healthy pregnancy. My husband was referred to an endocrinologist to treat a pituitary issue that Dr. Moayeri suspected was causing his high FSH and prolactin levels and subsequently, his low sperm count. Thanks to Dr. Moayeri's excellent detective work, my husband is now under treatment, is doing much better, and we continue to work towards a second baby.
Describe your experience with the nursing staff at OC Fertility.
The nursing staff is sensitive, are tenacious advocates for their patients, and very knowledgeable. The staff and Dr. Moayeri take every birth and loss personally. They grieve and celebrate along with their patients as they experience the pain of miscarriages and the joys of live births.

My HCG prescription was accidentally sent to a CVS pharmacy in my chart instead of a compounding pharmacy, also in my chart.

[Dr. Moayeri] answered all my questions throughly and had lot's of compassion...I did 1 egg retrival with her. She got 30 eggs out of me. I was over stimulated unfortunately and had to go to Hoag Hospital a few days after my retrival to get the fluid drained...[she] would not let me put in more than 2 embryos at a time...I found out I was pregnant. Yay! I had my daughter 9 months later in July
The nursing staff [at OC Fertility Clinic] has been very friendly and good at booking me all my appointments when I need them and they always have gotten right back to me...the frozen transfers were around $5,000, and the egg retrieval and 1st frozen transfer was around $30,000 total with everything from beginning to end
How was your experience with Sharon E. Moayeri at OC Fertility?
DR. Moyari answered all my questions throughly and had lot's of compassion when my embryo transfers did not work out. She always made me feel that she would help me get pregnant and not to worry. She is very knowledgable and took the time to sit with me at each visit and came up with a good plan for my body.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Sharon E. Moayeri at OC Fertility?
Please see Dr. Moyari if you are having trouble getting pregnant. She is amazing!!

Describe the protocols Sharon E. Moayeri used in your cycles at OC Fertility and their degree of success.
I don't know the dosages that I took with my medications but I did 1 egg retrival with her. She got 30 eggs out of me. I was over stimulated unfortunately and had to go to Hoag Hospital a few days after my retrival to get the fluid drained. My embroys were put in the freezer at that time. The next month Dr. Moyaeri put 2 girl embroys in me and unfortunately it didn't take. I waited 2 more months and then Dr. Moyari put 1 girl and 1 untested embryo in me and I found out I was pregnant. Yay! I had my daughter 9 months later in July 2012. I went back to see Dr. Moyari in October 2018. We decided to put 1 frozen boy embryo in. I found out I was pregnant but then a week later my numbers were dropping and then I found out that it was a chemical pregnancy. I was devistated. I still have 1 girl, 1 boy and 1 untested embro left and I really want to try 1 more time to give my daughter a sibling. Unfortunately, things are tough financially right now and I would love help to pay for 1 more transfer.
Describe your experience with the nursing staff at OC Fertility.
The nursing staff has been very friendly and good at booking me all my appointments when I need them and they always have gotten right back to me.
Describe your experience with OC Fertility.
I would tell a new patient that the IVF process is very expensive. I would also say to not give up hope and go through the process if they can cause it's worth it in the end I always refer DR. Sharon Moyari to everyone because she is so kind and makes this process alot easier due to her compassion.
Describe your experience with your monitoring appointments at OC Fertility.
The office always got me in for my ultrasound appointments whenever my schedule permitted. They were great!

Dr. Moayeri has a lot of experience, but what I appreciated is that she left final decisions in MY hands. That is something I had not experienced with a prior provider...She is very education and empowerment focused. I felt she educated me, but was maternal when I needed a shoulder to cry on...She was always patient and positive, without painting an unrealistic picture of my changes. Having had treatment elsewhere before, I especially appreciated her candor.
[Nurses at OC Fertility Clinic are] Kind but knowledgable, they felt like part of Dr. Moayeri's team—an extension of her care...Know what you're looking for from your visit so those expectations are communicated to the doctors ahead of time. The staff is nice, but they seem a little rushed. Once you're in their system, they are kind and make as much time for you as you need. I've had care elsewhere, and never had this much contact with my actual doctor! For me, that is the ultimate prize, after having a healthy baby!
How was your experience with Sharon E. Moayeri at OC Fertility?
Dr. Moayeri makes you feel empowered and nurtured at the same time; as though you're in a safe pair of hands. She has a huge amount of experience, yet I saw *her* for my visits, and was never 'pawned off' to other staff. She explains things very well, even when I was nervous and had to ask her to repeat an entire procedure process all over again because I was overwhelmed and was alone, due to COVID. It was actually because of COVID that I felt I probably asked more questions than any patient, ever! She was always patient and positive, without painting an unrealistic picture of my changes. Having had treatment elsewhere before, I especially appreciated her candor.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Sharon E. Moayeri at OC Fertility?
Just see her! She will not waste your time. Come with your most difficult questions; she is the type of doctor who will listen and give you data-driven information back.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Sharon E. Moayeri at OC Fertility?
She is very education and empowerment focused. I felt she educated me, but was maternal when I needed a shoulder to cry on.
Describe the protocols Sharon E. Moayeri used in your cycles at OC Fertility and their degree of success.
It's a little raw to get into my specific protocols, but she was able to pivot when things didn't go my way, so to speak. I was able to hang in there to make a positive result happen in a different way than I originally envisioned.

Success w/ Doc Too early to know
The experience with [Dr Moayeri] has proven exceptional. Dr Moayeri proves approachable, personable, knowledgable, and compassionate. These traits coupled with her excellent team lead one to feel like a patient — not a number. Specifically, Dr Moayeri responds to inquiries after hours either via text or phone...gives a good list of supplements and additional modalities to try to optimize one’s health for treatment.
communication with the clinic [OC Fertility] proves seamless with quick responses from the IVF coordinator either via email or the OCF phone app, late into the night...Overall, a very friendly and considerate group to have the pleasure to come across. Specifically, Angelina (AJ), the care coordinator, is on point with responses. She is dedicated and committed to the patients she works with, as is evident by her after work-hours responses.

What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Sharon E. Moayeri at OC Fertility?
Dr Moayeri works with CCRM, a state-of-the-art lab, and touted as one of the best, if not the best, in the country.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Sharon E. Moayeri at OC Fertility?
Dr Moayeri or her colleague (Dr Sachdev) are present at all appointments, unlike my previous experience with RFC/Dr Lin. By being present, patients are given the opportunity to receive updates and have inquiries specific to their care answered on a routine basis. Also, it allows for building of rapport and comfort strengthening the physician-patient relationship — allowing for a more humane experience.
Describe the protocols Sharon E. Moayeri used in your cycles at OC Fertility and their degree of success.
#1 High dose agonist (Gonal 450IU daily)/antagonist protocol with estrogen priming—IUI; suspect to determine my response potential. #2 Flare protocol with estrogen priming—2 eggs collected; suspect as noted to be poor responder. #3 Moderate dose agonist (Gonal 375IU daily)/antagonist protocol with estrogen priming—current; suspect as poor response to flare protocol
Describe your experience with your nurse at OC Fertility. (Assigned nurse: Angelina (AJ) )
Overall, a very friendly and considerate group to have the pleasure to come across. Specifically, Angelina (AJ), the care coordinator, is on point with responses. She is dedicated and committed to the patients she works with, as is evident by her after work-hours responses. Believe she responded close to midnight one time. Also, Krystal, a member of the nursing staff, recommended that previously used Gonal pens be brought into the clinic so as to recollect the remaining Gonal for use. Her recommendation and extra effort led to savings roughly equivalent to 2 Gonal pens!!! Lastly, Krystal, AJ, Meghan, and colleagues always greet patients with a warm “hello” as patients are escorted to evaluation rooms.
Describe your experience with OC Fertility.
Would recommend giving the clinic a try! Dr Moayeri gives a good list of supplements and additional modalities to try to optimize one’s health for treatment. Give it a thorough read through! Strengths: —strong team of physicians and nursing staff. —CCRM is a top notch lab. Weakness: —Beautiful office location...nice ocean view whilst awaiting the physician but a drive if not near Newport.
Describe the costs associated with your care under Sharon E. Moayeri at OC Fertility.
We used an insurance benefit and opted for 3 rounds of IVF. Thus, paid roughly 27k upfront. Then, $185 x 2.5 visits until deductible met then $50 co-pays for every visit. Also, IUI cost $28, Lastly, medication costs came to 5-8k/cycle.
Describe Sharon E. Moayeri's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at OC Fertility.
Have not yet undergone transfer.
What specific things went wrong at OC Fertility?
  • Lost paperwork
  • Failed to call with results
Describe the specific things that went wrong at OC Fertility.
We did experience a delay in receiving results from the initial retrieval amidst the COVID pandemic, likely due to decreased staffing. Also, upon starting with the clinic, previous lab results needed to be emailed in twice, as the original set was not properly placed in our chart.

[Dr. Moayeri] saw me every time and she explain every thing to me at a high level...She called us when we had questions outside of appointment hours. She was the only doctor that took time to review my records before treatment...pivots when necessary and adjust your treatment as she receives new information...she was welcoming and encouraging
The nurses were fine. They helped me as much as they can and were always professional...forgot to call in my prescription or update me on stuff when I was told I was going to get calls...The front desk people always seem disorganized...For visits, ultrasounds and blood work, I paid out of pocket costs and I would say upwards of $15k. Not including meds.
How was your experience with Sharon E. Moayeri at OC Fertility?
Dr. Moyari saw me every time and she explain every thing to me at a high level. I could have used a little more detail but everything was going the well so I did not push it. She called us when we had questions outside of appointment hours. She was the only doctor that took time to review my records before treatment.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Sharon E. Moayeri at OC Fertility?
If you like details in every step of the process, she will explain it to you if you ask. She's very high level so don't expect that.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Sharon E. Moayeri at OC Fertility?
Every visit, she was welcoming and encouraging. During consultation, she took so much time to review my previous records and explain all our options to us.
Describe the protocols Sharon E. Moayeri used in your cycles at OC Fertility and their degree of success.
She pumped me full of drugs after knowing the other doctor did a mild treatment. Lots of injections, pills, check ups. She said her goal was for me to create as much eggs as possible to increase my chances and with my health and age, this was the way to go. She started me with one month of BCPs first.
Describe your experience with the nursing staff at OC Fertility.
The nurses were fine. They helped me as much as they can and were always professional.
Describe your experience with OC Fertility.
Strengths: Doctor is very knowledgeable. She pivots when necessary and adjust your treatment as she receives new information from the lab or during findings. Weaknesses: Doctor can be more detailed during the ultrasounds but I understand that could be a personality thing. She always answered my questions.
Describe the costs associated with your care under Sharon E. Moayeri at OC Fertility.

None.

  • Lost paperwork
  • Lost appointments
  • Provided conflicting information
  • Failed to convey critical information
Describe the specific things that went wrong at OC Fertility.
They were minor but the admin girls forgot to call in my prescription or update me on stuff when I was told I was going to get calls. They also either double booked me or did not have me on their calendar even though I scheduled an appointment. The front desk people always seem disorganized.

She [Sharon Moayeri] has been extremely honest and forthcoming with expectations even if it was hard for me to accept. She was the only Dr. that discovered I had a gene for blood clots that potentially has saved my life. She was also the one that discovered I have an autoimmune. This was due to her thoroughness with my test results and her do diligence of working through why one of my transfers didn't take.
All the doctor's [at OC Fertility Clinic] are wonderful. The staff is friendly and patient. Even the receptionists are friendly. Sometimes you have to wait a while in the waiting room to be seen...Dr. Moayeri cares about each and every patient and she is there anytime you need to speak to her. After two failed transfers she was available the next morning to consult us and give us her recommendations. She has been honest from the beginning and she is straight forward.

This was due to her thoroughness with my test results and her do diligence of working through why one of my transfers didn't take. I have worked with Dr. Moyeri for about 4 years now with infertility and she has never sugar coated anything and has always worked with me and my husbands decisions in what we wanted to do and she always gives her input and it's very appreciative.

Do NOT give up.

Describe the protocols Sharon E. Moayeri used in your cycles at OC Fertility and their degree of success.
I was treated with injections and medication for infertility. I had poor ovarian reserve, so these medications helped increase the number of follicles I produced. She would change the medication dose if the cycle did not work.
Describe your experience with your nurse at OC Fertility. (Assigned nurse: Molly)
She is exceptional. She is caring, on top of everything, patient, calm and everything you are looking for when going through a journey as difficult as infertility.
Describe your experience with OC Fertility.

IVF is costly.

She [Dr. Moayeri] is very experienced and knowledgeable, but sometimes she goes over topics quickly like a memorized script since she has done it so many times. But I like her organization and presentation style, she uses pictures and graphs to help explain her point. She also gave me a detailed packet of the steps of the treatment, recommended supplements and description of all the different types of hormones and tests we need to do to evaluate me.
I like the location, it is near fashion island (so it's nice being able to shop right after) The office had nice decorations, and clean. The waiting room had wifi and free coffee. Very modern vibe, and easy parking available. There is a pharmacy downstairs so it's easy to pick up meds on the way out...Labs and tests were about $500, each ultrasound was $300 and we had probably 5 ultrasounds for each cycle, and the actual drugs $1000 and insemination was $500ish. So IUI is around $3000

What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Sharon E. Moayeri at OC Fertility?
Make sure you request her and be flexible with your schedule, she doesn't work on weekends so you would be seeing her associate and not her. At times like that, you feel like the associate doesn't know your case and may have miscommunication.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Sharon E. Moayeri at OC Fertility?
They took time during the consultation to get to know us as a couple and our concerns.
Describe the protocols Sharon E. Moayeri used in your cycles at OC Fertility and their degree of success.
We tried oral medication - Clomid for one cycle and the result was not as ideal. Then I purchased the Follistum pen - to give myself injections around my belly button to help increase the mature egg count. We did IUI cycles, and each time we needed additional ultrasound to check the lining, but the cost was $300 for each ultrasound
Describe your experience with your nurse at OC Fertility. (Assigned nurse: MOLLY)
My nurse was very sweet and professional each time I saw her. I did not like the care coordinator or the front office receptionist, they were unorganized with billing and payments.
Describe your experience with OC Fertility.
I like the location, it is near fashion island (so it's nice being able to shop right after) The office had nice decorations, and clean. The waiting room had wifi and free coffee. Very modern vibe, and easy parking available. There is a pharmacy downstairs so it's easy to pick up meds on the way out.
Describe the costs associated with your care under Sharon E. Moayeri at OC Fertility.
Most of the treatment was not covered by insurance. Labs and tests were about $500, each ultrasound was $300 and we had probably 5 ultrasounds for each cycle, and the actual drugs $1000 and insemination was $500ish. So IUI is around $3000
What specific things went wrong at OC Fertility?
  • Lost paperwork
  • Failed to call with results
  • Failed to send your chart to another clinic
Describe the specific things that went wrong at OC Fertility.
I am mainly upset about the billing department. A few times they said there is no copay and I leave after treatment, and a few weeks later calling to state I owe hundreds of dollars, and the receptionist just made mistake to not collect. I think the associate doctor also made a mistake after one of the inseminations, because she appeared less experienced and had to check with a vaginal ultrasound after, because she said the insertion tubule might have bent and shot the sperm out the other way

She [Dr. Moayeri] was honest, blunt and compassionate all at the same time. She made me feel completely comfortable with her amazing bedside manner and fun attitude through such a hard, emotional, scary experience. Talking to her calmed me. Her intelligence on what she does is off the charts...Whenever something wasn’t working for me she would change it up immediately. I loved how she listened and never pushed anything on me.
To be honest the clinic [OC Fertility Clinic] was always clean and organized. Making an appointment was easy peasy! Always a warm smile to welcome you in the clinic. Oc fertility has a very nice ambiance, it’s very quiet and calm in there...She [Dr. Moayeri] made me feel completely comfortable with her amazing bedside manner and fun attitude through such a hard, emotional, scary experience.
How was your experience with Sharon E. Moayeri at OC Fertility?
I would recommend Dr. Moayeri to everyone having fertility issues. I had seen a few other fertility drs. Before dr. Moayeri but when I had my fist appointment with her, I knew immediately she was going to my fertility dr. And I wanted to take this journey with her professional guidance. She was honest, blunt and compassionate all at the same time. She made me feel completely comfortable with her amazing bedside manner and fun attitude through such a hard, emotional, scary experience. Talking to her calmed me. Her intelligence on what she does is off the charts. I really appreciated that also. Whenever something wasn’t working for me she would change it up immediately. I loved how she listened and never pushed anything on me.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Sharon E. Moayeri at OC Fertility?
Dr. Moayeri will take care of you through the whole process. Trust everything she says. Ask as many questions you want to, she will give you her honest opinion and answer every question in a way that will make sense to you. She will always take you on the route that is best for and won’t throw a bunch of medications at you. She’s careful with that and cares about your well being also.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Sharon E. Moayeri at OC Fertility?
I felt like a human because she was so honest and understanding with me and it felt as tho she really cared and I wasn’t just some other patient. I knew she really wanted me to get the result I desired but she gave me real numbers and percentages of that happening or not and left the decision completely up to me and didn’t push me in any way.

The cost was roughly 30k I think.

During the retrieval process I didn’t have much of an issue with doctor but when it came to time for the transfer she had lost my first and best embryo during the procedure. Not only was there no follow up from the doctor [Dr. Moayeri] regarding the situation but there wasn’t much of an apology or compensation for my loss. ... The doctor didn’t have the best bedside manner but didn’t sugar coat anything as well.
Nursing team did not communicate changes in dose appropriately. Prescriptions were sometimes missed. ... The nursing staff is the weakest link at this clinic [OC Fertility]. Until they can get that fixed I don’t know if I would be recommending any new patients to this clinic. They are the heart of your treatment process and at most times the only one you are communicating with regards to your treatment and concerns, since you hardly ever receive any communication from the doctor herself.

What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Sharon E. Moayeri at OC Fertility?
Not the best doctor to see if you want someone that is empathetic to you. But she might be someone you might want to see if you need a second opinion or a different insight on your treatment.
Describe the protocols Sharon E. Moayeri used in your cycles at OC Fertility and their degree of success.
She was the second doctor I did a retrieval with and I don’t remember the specifics to the medication protocol but I do remember she did take a different approach but also emphasized the importance of diet and supplements that should be taken before and during the treatment. The results were a lot better with Dr Moayeri. Previously I had 27 eggs retrieved resulting in 4 embryos. But with Dr Moayeri I had 39 eggs retrieved and 16 embryos.
Describe your experience with your nurse at OC Fertility. (Assigned nurse: Amanda )
No communication from the nurses. I would have to constantly call and follow up about results and med doses. When I would leave a message for a call back most times I would never get a follow up call. Ultimately resulting in me having to make multiple calls. When asked why I wasn’t receiving appropriate communications, I would get an excuse that a call was made and a message was left, when clearly there were no messages left at any of the phone numbers or email that was provided.

Costs are high even with insurance
Describe Sharon E. Moayeri's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at OC Fertility.
She definitely leaves the decision up to you. When asked for a professional opinion for your situation, she would just state all the possible risks and tell you to do your research and make the decision. In the future when asked for her professional opinion based on my record and treatment, I would appreciate more of a specific opinion and advice.

Describe the specific things that went wrong at OC Fertility.
Nursing team did not communicate changes in dose appropriately. Prescriptions were sometimes missed. The doctor lost the first and best embryo I had. Resulting in having to go with a lower grade embryo.

Dr. Moyari is very knowledgeable and left no stone unturned. She would consult with high risk doctors when needed, she would tweak and tailor my protocol accordingly each time. She was up to date on all the latests fertility treatments and procedures and was very compassionate when I miscarried twice. She made herself personally available to me even when not in the office or out of town.
The front office staff [at OC Fertility] is very coordinated and friendly. If I had one area of weakness it would be with the billing department. There were a few times billing codes were incorrect. At times I felt very uncomfortable when it came to paying for a cycle. It felt very businesslike and public...We are out of pocket about $80K at this point. That includes donor eggs, and 4 cycles....

That there are no guarantees and that she doesn't make any promises but will try everything in her toolbox to help you succeed.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Sharon E. Moayeri at OC Fertility?
Dr. Moyari and her staff are very personable. They have gone out of their way to make me feel like I am being heard. They are accessible whenever needed to answer questions or respond to email or phone calls.
Describe the protocols Sharon E. Moayeri used in your cycles at OC Fertility and their degree of success.
The overall strategy was to produce a positive full term pregnancy using donor eggs due to my age. After the first miscarriage, she ran a significant number of tests to determine the cause. As it was unknown, subsequent protocols took into account my test results even if they were borderline. She covered all possible scenarios and proposed new procedures like plasma.
Describe your experience with your nurse at OC Fertility. (Assigned nurse: Krystal and AJ)
Both Krystal and AJ were very compassionate, knowledgeable and friendly. I felt like they truly cared about me and they were always very positive and never appeared or seemed irritated. They were very willing to help in any way possible and tailor their care to my specific needs.

I have cystic fibrosis and my health during IVF was a real concern for me. Dr Moayeri made it clear that I was her first priority. She contacted and consulted with my other doctors and made sure she was doing everything she could to keep me healthy. She created a great protocol for our egg retrieval and we were lucky enough to get multiple (healthy and cystic fibrosis free!) embryos...
The staff at OC Fertility is EXCELLENT! They respond to questions and concerns so quickly and spend a lot of time with patients in the office. I felt like they took amazing care of us during the egg retrieval process...Since I have cystic fibrosis, multiple embryo transfer would be very risky. Dr Moayeri made it clear she believes in SET only and that made me feel more comfortable.
How was your experience with Sharon E. Moayeri at OC Fertility?
Dr Moayeri is an excellent doctor. I can’t recommend her enough. She took so much time to make sure everything was right and I felt very comfortable in her care. We still need to go thought the FET process and I feel completely confident in her skills as a doctor.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Sharon E. Moayeri at OC Fertility?
Trust her, go in with lots of questions, but trust that she is an extremely qualified doctor and knows what she is doing.

Describe your experience with OC Fertility.
The clinic is very well organized. I had a bad experience at a previous clinic and it was a night and day difference. OC Fertility treats their patients so well! My one minor complaint is to make sure if you have labs done they send them to the correct lab that works with your insurance. I received two extremely high bills for blood draws. Thankfully the billing staff was able to eventually correct the issue and I did not have to pay them, but it was still stressful to receive the bills.

I don’t remember specific components, but we paid for everything out of pocket (insurance did not cover)

She [Dr. Sharon Moayeri] spoke candidly about our options and the probability of achieving a pregnancy with each. She then highlighted the best option given our desired timeline and risk factors such as age. I did not feel pressured during the consultation to make a decision...Personally, I preferred seeing Dr. Moayeri at every appointment rather than the other doctor when she was not available. You want to schedule your procedures, for us retrieval and transfer, around her availability.
The clinic [OC Fertility] was attentive to answer questions. They cared about the outcome of the process and my overall state of mind. They even walked me through how to go through insurance for reimbursement on out of network expenses...They [nurses at OC Fertility] would take the time to show you how to administer medication, multiple times if necessary to ensure you are comfortable...a weakness would be that at times there would be a significant wait time (~45-60 minutes) for appointments...
How was your experience with Sharon E. Moayeri at OC Fertility?
She has a track record of success. The weekly appointments often involve a vaginal ultrasound. Dr. M ensures you are comfortable from the beginning. She is knowledgeable and efficient at every appointment. As a patient it is important to stay organized to be prepared to ask questions during your appointment. After the egg retrieval process, Dr. Moayeri would often call personally to follow up on the development of our embryos and discuss our options. She even gave us her personal number if we had any concerns. I definitely felt more at ease in the process because of her attentiveness to our concerns in building our family.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Sharon E. Moayeri at OC Fertility?
Be prepared for your appointments to ask all of your questions. Personally, I preferred seeing Dr. Moayeri at every appointment rather than the other doctor when she was not available. You want to schedule your procedures, for us retrieval and transfer, around her availability.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Sharon E. Moayeri at OC Fertility?
Dr. Moayeri took time during our consultation to answer all of our questions thoroughly. This process was a huge investment for us and we wanted to feel confident in our decision. She spoke candidly about our options and the probability of achieving a pregnancy with each. She then highlighted the best option given our desired timeline and risk factors such as age. I did not feel pressured during the consultation to make a decision.
Describe your experience with your nurse at OC Fertility. (Assigned nurse: Angie)
My husband and I enjoyed the nursing staff. They would take the time to show you how to administer medication, multiple times if necessary to ensure you are comfortable. There is also a general nurse email that you can send questions about symptoms or your protocol. The staff was pretty prompt with their responses. Angie was our favorite. She would often just talk to us. This often distracted us from a blood draw or our current stress. We definitely did not feel like a number but that we had more personalized care.
Describe your experience with OC Fertility.
The clinic was attentive to answer questions. They cared about the outcome of the process and my overall state of mind. They even walked me through how to go through insurance for reimbursement on out of network expenses. If I were to be knit picky, a weakness would be that at times there would be a significant wait time (~45-60 minutes) for appointments. This is no different than any other doctor office.
Describe the costs associated with your care under Sharon E. Moayeri at OC Fertility.
The egg retrieval and corresponding care was the most significant cost. The cost of medication varies based on insurance. The surgery center used for the retrieval and transfer does not accept insurance.
Describe Sharon E. Moayeri's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at OC Fertility.
Dr. Moayeri strongly encouraged us to transfer one embryo first due in part to the probability of multiples. In retrospect, I am so thankful that we listened because we ended up having twins.

Dr. Moayeri is knowledgeable, with good bedside manner and who will be truthful about the process, possible issues and expectations. Dr. Moayeri and her staff will guide you every step of the way and make the process seamless...[she] indicated she would only transfer one embryo at a time...is an expert communicator with genuine compassion and it was calming-like talking to a friend. I do remember being taught by the staff [at OC Fertility Clinic] how to self administer the injections, the nurses took my blood, walked me to the room to track the egg count, would call to ensure everything was ok and they also helped me obtain the financial help I needed for the procedure...The cost of medicine, doctors visits, blood drawn, egg retrieval were approximately $13,000. The cost for yearly maintenance of egg freezing is $550...Strengths: knowledgeable doctors and staff, kind, and will guide the patient from teaching them how to do injections to filling out the financial assistance forms. Weaknesses: a few times I waited more than 15-20 minutes in the waiting area.
How was your experience with Sharon E. Moayeri at OC Fertility?
Dr. Moayeri was very honest and forthcoming about egg retrieval, success of a healthy embryo for someone my age (41) with no previous pregnancies and history of cancer. She was delicate in explaining the situation but honest and consulted with my oncologist. She guided me through the steps and I was keenly aware of my expectations. After having cancer, it’s like having PTSD every time you see a doctor. Dr. Maoyeri is an expert communicator with genuine compassion and it was calming-like talking to a friend. I don’t remember specifics-mostly because I had just had a lumpectomy and was going to start radiation treatments. Running from doctors appointments every other day. At our very first appointment, she [Dr. Sharon Moayeri] immediately put my mind at ease. I was hesitant to take birth control as part of my IVF protocol, and she assured me that she prefers to have her patients cycle naturally, and works around their cycles for all appointments and retrieval’s. That made me feel like I wasn’t just a number...At retrieval we got 13 eggs, 9 fertilized and 8 made it to day 5. However, only 1 made it to biopsy for PGS testing. I have low AMH, so this was not surprising. We are waiting on the PGS results before we implant.
There were times I was confused or didn’t understand something in my protocol, and I was able to call and get all of my questions answered very timely and easily...The nursing staff at OC Fertility is fantastic! They are so kind, thurough, and helpful. They take time to get to know you beyond infertility, and give so many suggestions and helpful tips for surviving the treatments. They always are willing to answer any questions, and call to make sure things are going well.
How was your experience with Sharon E. Moayeri at OC Fertility?
I have been very satisfied with my time at OC Fertility, and would highly recommend them to others. Dr. Moayeri is very thurough, and I appreciate the time she takes to answer all of my questions, and make sure that I understand and am comfortable with every step of the processes, for both IUI and IVF.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Sharon E. Moayeri at OC Fertility?
Don’t be afraid to ask questions

I was hesitant to take birth control as part of my IVF protocol, and she assured me that she prefers to have her patients cycle naturally, and works around their cycles for all appointments and retrieval’s. That made me feel like I wasn’t just a number.
Describe the protocols Sharon E. Moayeri used in your cycles at OC Fertility and their degree of success.
My first 2 IUI’s I took Clomid, and responded well to it, with 4 follicles each time. After those were unsuccessful, we tried 1 cycle with Femara, and I also responded well with 4 follicles. The IUI was unsuccessful, and for the final IUI I did 150iu of GonalF injections along with the Clomid. That cycle I only produced 1 follicle and we decided to do 2 IUI’s, which were unsuccessful. After that, we decided to move forward with IVF, and are in between retrieval and transfer currently. For my IVF protocol, I had 2 vials of Menopur, Clomid, and 450iu Gonal F. I responded well and had 8 follicles. At retrieval we got 13 eggs, 9 fertilized and 8 made it to day 5. However, only 1 made it to biopsy for PGS testing. I have low AMH, so this was not surprising. We are waiting on the PGS results before we implant.

The nursing staff at OC Fertility is fantastic! They are so kind, thurough, and helpful. They take time to get to know you beyond infertility, and give so many suggestions and helpful tips for surviving the treatments. Describe your experience with OC Fertility.
The clinic is really great, and I have nothing but s positive experience. There were times I was confused or didn’t understand something in my protocol, and I was able to call and get all of my questions answered very timely and easily.
Describe the costs associated with your care under Sharon E. Moayeri at OC Fertility.
Our total costs, including all monitoring appointments, medicstions, procedures, etc. was right at $30,000 for IVF. Each of the IUI cycles was around $1,000, including medication.

I have had a wonderful experience so far with Dr. Moayeri. From the very first appointment, I liked her confidence (without being arrogant) and her level of expertise in fertility. She explains tests and procedures really well, and is also good at explaining WHY she is performing any diagnostic procedure... For example, she did not hesitate or beat around the bush when she recommended that we consider using donor sperm as a back-up plan. However, she was very empathetic and it did not come across as offensive
OC Fertility isn't big. It was smaller than I expected, but I think it's totally sufficient. It did not have the feel of a hospital, which hopefully puts people at ease. It felt more personal. During one visit, there were a lot of patients (which I think is unusual for them) but the clinic didn't feel cramped and they didn't make me feel rushed. .... Susie, the financial coordinator, is also super nice and really organized. We are paying a lot of money for IVF but the payment process was really simple and clear. She explained the fees in detail with an easy to understand fee schedule.
How was your experience with Sharon E. Moayeri at OC Fertility?
I have had a wonderful experience so far with Dr. Moayeri. From the very first appointment, I liked her confidence (without being arrogant) and her level of expertise in fertility. She explains tests and procedures really well, and is also good at explaining WHY she is performing any diagnostic procedure. She is also really really thorough, which is something that is really important to me. I also think she is more on the candid side, which I prefer. For example, she did not hesitate or beat around the bush when she recommended that we consider using donor sperm as a back-up plan. However, she was very empathetic and it did not come across as offensive. I sincerely believe that she wants the best outcome for me and my husband. I'm not sure if this counts as a weakness but I think that most of the detailed IVF information was provided to us through their paperwork that we were given before starting IVF. For example, we didn't discuss statistics, risks, and the details of IVF (what each medication does) with Dr. Moayeri. I think we had a brief conversation about it. However, I know I could have scheduled an appointment to have that discussion with her. The information I already had about IVF was sufficient for me since I also did a lot of research. Their paperwork was also really thorough and complete so I didn't have any questions about IVF when it was time to pay for my cycle. For those of you who need to get your information verbally from your doctor, you may need to ask for that explicitly. I trusted her and did not feel the need to question her about every detail. I had more than enough information. The one thing I did not do (and chose not to do) was to ask about her success rate (e.g. live birth rate). Some of this information is available online through the CDC website but I know the data is sparse. Dr. Moayeri is with CCRM, which is a renowned fertility clinic. I think there is a good reason why CCRM is working with Dr. Moayeri. Initially, I did have some concerns that I didn't choose the "best" reproductive endocrinologist (someone with the best success rates), but I chose to stick with Dr. Moayeri.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Sharon E. Moayeri at OC Fertility?
Don't be afraid to ask questions if you feel like you need more information or clarification
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Sharon E. Moayeri at OC Fertility?
Dr. Moayeri treated me with respect and answered any questions that I had, both thoughtfully and kindly. Her staff were also warm, kind, always helpful, and really knowledgeable. On the day of my egg retrieval, she was so reassuring and helped put me at ease right before anesthesia.
Describe the protocols Sharon E. Moayeri used in your cycles at OC Fertility and their degree of success.
I was put on the antagonist protocol which consisted of Menopur, Follistim, and dexamethasone (0.5 mg) for 12 days, Ganirelix starting day 7, Pregnyl on day 12, and egg retrieval on day 14. I went in for ultrasounds +/-bloodwork (did not always need bloodwork), which became more frequent towards the end. There is another doctor at the practice who performed a few of my ultrasounds (because Dr. Moayeri was doing a procedure) but as I neared the end of the IVF cycle, Dr. Moayeri later reviewed the ultrasounds to double check my protocol. They always called me in the afternoon after the ultrasound to let me know if any changes needed to be made. The only change they made was to delay my egg retrieval by one day. Dr. Moayeri was able to retrieve 15 eggs! As far as side effects go, I had some mild bruising on injection sites, started getting more tired, felt bloated during the final week, and some mild tenderness/pain in what I assume were my ovaries as the follicles got really big.
Describe your experience with your nurse at OC Fertility. (Assigned nurse: Treena)
Treena is WONDERFUL. She is super organized, explained the IVF protocol in good detail (including med administration), and is incredibly nice. She really helped me feel at ease about the whole process and was so reassuring about everything. She didn't candy coat everything and prepared me adequately. For example, she warned me that Menopur might sting (which it did!). She also gave me a great tip, which was to ice the injection site beforehand so that I don't feel the needle going in. It totally worked! Treena is also super prompt at responding to emails/questions. Susie, the financial coordinator, is also super nice and really organized. We are paying a lot of money for IVF but the payment process was really simple and clear. She explained the fees in detail with an easy to understand fee schedule. There were no surprises when it was time to pay up. The rest of the nursing staff were all really great. Blood draws were quick and easy and I had no issues with scheduling appointments. Everyone was really courteous, professional, and respectful. The one negative feedback I have is that a couple of my messages/questions were not relayed to Treena so I had to email Treena directly. I also wanted to mention that Dr. Moayeri's nursing staff at CCRM Orange County (where they did my egg retrieval) were phenomenal. I was so nervous about getting an IV catheter and going under anesthesia, but the entire process was so smooth. Everyone was so nice. The nurse who took care of me brought me a warm blanket, put me at ease while I got my IV catheter, and brought me a heating pad after the egg retrieval. It's not just about the doctor, but also the support staff. OC Fertility and CCRM Orange County have a great support staff.
Describe your experience with OC Fertility.
CCRM Orange County was really nice. I was there only for my egg retrieval but the facility was quite shiny and new. Despite it looking so fancy, the people were really personable and friendly so it didn't feel intimidating at all.
Describe the costs associated with your care under Sharon E. Moayeri at OC Fertility.
IVF cycle costs about $15k Not included in fee to OC Fertility/CCRM - IVF stim meds (paid to pharmacy directly) - ~$5k for me - CCS analysis of embryo cells - depends on the number of embryos Frozen embryo transfer is a separate fee of ~$5k
Describe Sharon E. Moayeri's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at OC Fertility.
Dr. Moayeri asked me about my preferences and I told her I wanted a single embryo transfer to minimize any risk to myself or the baby. We didn't discuss it further after that. I had already read about the risks of multiple embryo transfer and was also given that information from Dr. Moayeri (via paperwork). I do not know what Dr. Moayeri's preferences or recommendations are in general.

How was your experience with Sharon E. Moayeri at Pacific Reproductive Center?
The doctor was everything we could want and more. She was kind but honest with us. She backed up all her assessments with scientific evidence. She gave us a clear path of what the next steps were. Nothing was sugar coated yet she made it obvious that she would be with us and do what was best to increase our chances of success.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Sharon E. Moayeri at Pacific Reproductive Center?
Dr. Moayeri firmly supports scientific research. She is open to complementing her treatments with some homeopathic approaches (e.g. acupuncture), but you should know that she is basing her decisions on the scientific reality of the situation so do not come to her if you are looking for a homeopathic or non-scientific approach to fertility. Also, you should expect that she will be honest, thorough and comprehensive in her diagnoses and in providing you with information. She will not hold your hand along the way so you should plan on getting emotional support elsewhere. Her job and her #1 priority is to do everything scientifically possible to increase the likelihood that you succeed in your fertility goals. If you are lucky enough to work with her, I expect that you will be extremely satisfied with her care just as we were! We are eternally grateful for the medical support that she provided.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Sharon E. Moayeri at Pacific Reproductive Center?
Always opportunities to ask questions. Never felt rushed. Clearly had done her homework before every visit so she remembered and was up-to-date on where we were and what was next. Always very clear and concise about reality of the situation. Did not sugar coat anything but was honest, frank and backed everything up with science. It was clear that she wanted us to succeed.
Describe your experience with the nursing staff at Pacific Reproductive Center.
The nursing staff was incredibly professional, compassionate, well-trained and thorough. I had lots of questions. They had lots of answers! They were always very patient with us when we came back with even more questions later or struggled with certain techniques. I was also impressed by the fact that they worked very well together as a team.

Describe Sharon E. Moayeri's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Pacific Reproductive Center.
Dr. Moayeri's approach to the number of embryo transfer is based on scientific evidence. Certainly, for older patients or patients with a history of miscarriages or other complications, she may recommend multiple transfers, however, her #1 priority is to ensure that you end up with one healthy baby. Therefore, her preference will be to transfer one embryo where possible since transferring multiple embryos increases all sorts of risks. Again, based on science, the wisest approach is to have the embryo/s chromosomally tested so that she can transfer the smallest number of chromosomally-normal embryos possible.

She [Dr Moayeri] was patient, kind, shared all medical data and possible outcomes, did extensive testing and overall I thought she was a great doctor. The IVF process overall, was extremely difficult for me and she was always there to answer my questions. She was present every, or almost every, visit that I had...I really loved this doctor because she took her time both in and out of the exam room with me.
[OC Fertility Clinic] are very clean and in a great location. Great doctor and nurses...I spent about $20k, probably more for 2 rounds of IVF...Nurses were great. All were kind. They didn't talk excessively, which I liked...The fee for their embryo storage fee increased (a lot) and I was never notified. They say it is not their policy to notify patients of rate increases however, I believe I should be notified of that since I am paying yearly and have been for awhile.

She is great but expensive. Be prepared for that part of it. Otherwise, go for it.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Sharon E. Moayeri at OC Fertility?
I really loved this doctor because she took her time both in and out of the exam room with me. The overall experience was very difficult for me and I felt she was respectful, kind and explained all medical data and terminology to me. The overall process was extremely difficult for me but I thought she was a great doctor and I would definitely recommend her.
Describe the protocols Sharon E. Moayeri used in your cycles at OC Fertility and their degree of success.
I don't remember specifics but we had several visits and then she started my on hormones. There was some kind of water/liquid inserted vaginally to do an ultrasound. She did my egg retrieval, insemination of those eggs, then transplanted the embryos.
Describe your experience with the nursing staff at OC Fertility.
Nurses were great. All were kind. They didn't talk excessively, which I liked. It can be very difficult to do these treatments so you don't always want a nurse to be talking non-stop. That being said, they did talk a little, were kind, caring, loving, and professional at all times.
Describe your experience with OC Fertility.
Well, they are very clean and in a great location. Great doctor and nurses. Those would be the strengths. The weakness, well, i didn't care for the office manager/accounting woman - she is VERY difficult to speak to and has a huge attitude, but I mean who cares, you're not there for her anyway. Another huge weakness, for me, is the price. They re very expensive and their storage fee has also gone up (without notice to patients).

She [Dr. Moayeri] sat us down to start went through a whole analysis of our tests, Health habits and gave us a game plan to give us the health lies shot at treatment before she would actually let us start a treatment round...I honestly have zero complaints she was there for all but one ultrasound and wasn't the one who preformed my IUI but that didn't matter to me she was so hands on and the only reasons she missed those two appointments were for other patients in surgery, she was very present in my whole experience of treament for which I've already recommended multiple friends to her...
Trina and Ashley were the nurses [at OC Fertility] I dealt with and were AMAZING they were so wonderful to see each visit, which is so important considering how often you're there during treatment cycles...I loved that all of my visits were billed to insurance, seeing how I had zero fertility coverage with my insurance...
How was your experience with Sharon E. Moayeri at CCRM Orange County?
I honestly have zero complaints she was there for all but one ultrasound and wasn't the one who preformed my IUI but that didn't matter to me she was so hands on and the only reasons she missed those two appointments were for other patients in surgery, she was very present in my whole experience of treament for which I've already recommended multiple friends to her.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Sharon E. Moayeri at CCRM Orange County?
She sat us down to start went through a whole analysis of our tests, Health habits and gave us a game plan to give us the health lies shot at treatment before she would actually let us start a treatment round. Most patients want to just start treament rounds, she wanted to wait to get us in a heather place before she would start a treatment round to try to get my hormones balanced better, my husband's health habits in a better place and his morphology numbers up. She gave us a game plan of what we needed to do to begin a round of treatment before we even started, so she helped us know what to do and where we were going. She flat out said she wanted to go this route so she wasn't wasting our time and giving us our best shot at success. She also personally called me to tell me once my hormone test was positive for being pregnant, which I still have that voicemail saved on my phone because it meant so much to me to hear it from my doc rather than just front desk or a nurse.
Describe the protocols Sharon E. Moayeri used in your cycles at CCRM Orange County and their degree of success.
She put me on meteformin to help regulate my hormone imbalance to work on the annovulation and PCOS for about 2 months attempting to get my cycles going again before we did any kind of fertility work. they didn't return so I had a progesterone induced cycle once my husband's morphology numbers were better. And that was our treatment cycle which she also suggested using femara so we did... I had regular ultrasounds to monitor folic growth throughout the cycle, I was given estrogen patches as we approached my trigger date. And she even will come in on weekends to check if your cycle is that close, which she did for me, I administered an HCG trigger injection from home the day before my IUI.
Describe your experience with the nursing staff at CCRM Orange County.
Trina and ashley were the nurses I dealt with and were AMAZING they were so wonderful to see each visit, which is so important considering how often you're there during treatment cycles.
Describe your experience with CCRM Orange County.
I loved that all of my visits were billed to insurance, seeing how I had zero fertility coverage with my insurance, they were creative with billing as gyno care till we started my treament cycle, once I was diagnosed and treatment began those visits were out of pocket and as soon as I had a positive pregnancy visited went back through insurance as OB care for all the weekly visits in my first trimester under her care till I moved to my OB. I really appreciate that they understand that IF isn't wildly covered by most insurance, so their willingness to find ways to work around that is greatly appreciated.
Describe the costs associated with your care under Sharon E. Moayeri at CCRM Orange County.
Visits with insurance came in around $90 with an ultrasound, and bloodwork was about $35 but it all depends on insurance. My IUI aroud $1500 with meds procedure and out of pocket visits during my treatment cycle.

Dr Moayeri is very HONEST , SKILLED and HAS ATTENTION TO DETAILS. Her practice is not based on volume but on individualized care. Dr Moayeri is compassionate, professional and above all HONEST....As a patient you are investing emotions, time and money. You donot want a saleman with fancy furniture. Remember all the fancy furniture is coming from your money!
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Sharon E. Moayeri at OC Fertility?
I am an OBGYN physician myself and was looking for no BS consultation. Dr Moayeri was HONEST. I believe that is the most important trait needed in an REI doctor.
Describe the protocols Sharon E. Moayeri used in your cycles at OC Fertility and their degree of success.
After failing other cycles she realized that their was an element of adenomyosis in therefore used the Lupron flare technique. She also did not recommend OCPs before since she did not want to suppress the ovaries (I am old) After a failed transfer she offered me platelet rich plasma therapy which though experimental had low downside.

We have only met with Dr. Moayeri via teleconference due to the current COVID-19 conditions. However, she took the time to review our prior medical information with us, offer suggestions of next steps and answer all of the questions we had regarding treatment...if one cycle of IUI is unsuccessful, she would recommend moving straight into IVF due to my husband and my ages.

Since we are just in the consultation stage with her, it is hard to tell what this will look like. With my regular OBGYN we had previously completed three cycles of Clomid. Dr. Moayeri reviewed that information with us and noted that once we begin treatment, if one cycle of IUI is unsuccessful, she would recommend moving straight into IVF due to my husband and my ages.

Dr. Moayeri is no-nonsense, but also has compassion and a good bedside manner. She explains things thoroughly all the time. There are times you may not understand them all, but it is important to ask questions in those times and she will answer...[she] always knew who we were, there was a doctor-patient relationship but you are at the clinic so much in a short period that she knows who you are.
The [OC Fertility] nursing staff is attentive and well-organized...Strengths are cleanliness and professionalism. Weaknesses are the billing process/department, responding to billing inquiries and sometimes you sat in the waiting room for a long time. Overall, we would use this clinic again...just be sure to be prepared to possibly have trouble with billing..

She [Dr. Sharon Moayeri] is great at giving you realistic expectations. She is very dry and to the point but I appreciated that. She explains the risks of everything that happens. When I was faced with health issues related to the treatment she had referrals of specialists for everything...She is very busy and the visits are short. If you don’t have questions she will not ask...Have your questions prepared...she always answered our questions.
Easy to go in and out [at CCRM Orange County]. Parking can be tough depending on time of day. There is a pharmacy in the same building which is nice but they don’t carry all fertility medications. The clinic is open until 6 for apt but only until 4 if you call which can be frustrating...The staff was welcoming...They [nurses] were personable and knew you and your cycle whenever you came in. Con is they were always running behind.

I do not remember all costs but when I had an ultrasound done it was a $25 copay. The rest of the billing came after treatment. The medication was expensive. Over $1,000 for the injections.

[Dr. Sharon E. Moayeri] is very nice, caring, smiling person. She works with you to address your concerns, rather than just telling you what to do. Dr. Moayeri is excellent at her craft...time with her is extremely limited, most appointments about 1-2 minutes. I would have liked a little bit more warmth and time to discuss the experience...wouldn't lean on her for bedside manner as a top strength...we got everything that we asked for - plenty of eggs, plenty of embryos, successful transfer.
I would have like more hand holding and support than I received [at OC Fertility]...we worked with a variety of staff, nurses each week...would have preferred to have a single point of contact for the duration of our experience...got drips of information from week to week without a full picture...Very nice and friendly staff, generally easy to set appointments especially once in cycle (note - long wait times).
How was your experience with Sharon E. Moayeri at OC Fertility?
Dr. Moayeri is excellent at her craft. She came highly recommended because of this excellence, and in one-shot, we got everything that we asked for - plenty of eggs, plenty of embryos, successful transfer. She is truly a top-notch doctor and fertility expert. She is clinical and straight-to-the-point. I wouldn't lean on her for bedside manner as a top strength, but for purpose of what we needed accomplished, she got the job done.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Sharon E. Moayeri at OC Fertility?
Have your questions ready at each appointment (write them down!)- by the time she does a quick scan, the appointment is over. While she doesn't intentionally rush, everything happens at a very quick clip so it's best to be prepared to better control the quick pace and insert yourself if you need more time and attention. I wish I had done this more and felt more actively involved in the process.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Sharon E. Moayeri at OC Fertility?
Dr. Moayeri is an excellent doctor - the time with her is extremely limited, most appointments about 1-2 minutes. I would have liked a little bit more warmth and time to discuss the experience rather than just take measurements.
Describe the protocols Sharon E. Moayeri used in your cycles at OC Fertility and their degree of success.
We had a male factor problem, so we had to use ICSI protocol. It was a pretty standard protocol - 2 ovary stimulation medications (Menopur burned for a few seconds upon injection, Folistim didn't) for 10 days, then egg retrieval procedure, and then immediate embryo creation. Because we had a male factor as the primary problem, I responded very well to the medication and we had an abundance of eggs (20+) with over half fertilized.
Describe your experience with your nurse at OC Fertility. (Assigned nurse: AJ)
Everyone is very kind and compassionate in the office - we worked with a variety of staff, nurses each week depending on our appointment day. I would have preferred to have a single point of contact for the duration of our experience. The office tried to move to digital communication with an app and online portal, but it was clunky at best. I felt like what I was really missing was an on-boarding appointment at the very beginning for a full hour explaining the entire experience and process. I felt like I got drips of information from week to week without a full picture. For someone who likes to understand and be involved, it felt isolating and disempowering. Again - all lovely people with good intentions, but the organization and client experience definitely needs improvement.
Describe your experience with OC Fertility.
Very nice and friendly staff, generally easy to set appointments especially once in cycle (note - long wait times). The office is very nice, lots of windows, recently expanded. The surgery center for egg retrieval is pristine and exceptional staff. The weaknesses were what was already mentioned - no overarching picture of the entire experience. I would have liked a little bit more organization and a true patient coordinator that called me after procedures, checked in on me - I would have like more hand holding and support than I received.
Describe the costs associated with your care under Sharon E. Moayeri at OC Fertility.
The first part of the experience (egg retrieval) was approximately $18K - to be paid up front. Medications were another $5K. Nothing was covered by insurance and no monthly payment plans were offered. I had to have a hysteroscopy diagnostic procedure in the office (something that was required to proceed) and was changed an additional and unexpected $850. This didn't feel at all reasonable - we were never told in advance and the actual procedure was billed through insurance, so I didn't appreciate such a hefty out-of-pocket expense after the $18K. The second part of the experience (transfer) was approximately $5K with additional medication of $500.
Describe Sharon E. Moayeri's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at OC Fertility.
Strong preference for single embryo - we didn't even discuss multiples because of health to mother and baby.
What specific things went wrong at OC Fertility?
  • Provided conflicting information
Describe the specific things that went wrong at OC Fertility.
I think the errors that occurred were a result of several people managing a single patient. Again, a single point of contact who proactively called each day and was "responsible" for that patient would have solved a lot of this. I would get calls with results from a different nurse than I saw that day, so they wouldn't be up to speed with what the doctor and I discussed, etc. Just extra frustration that wasn't necessary during such a sensitive and stressful time.

Dr. Moayeri has the ability to explain the complex medical issues to people who are not familiar with the field. She knows the patient's chart before coming in to see them and is receptive to questions and concerns...I was educated on multiple embryo transfers and given the option, but opted for single transfers...While doing procedures, she explains what she is seeing. [The OC Fertility] Nurses took a lot of time to train me on injections and even offered to help me with them on their free time when my husband was out of town...I was educated on multiple embryo transfers and given the option, but opted for single transfers...I believe the egg extraction procedure, including office visits, doctor's fees, and surgery center fees is approximately $18,000

What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Sharon E. Moayeri at OC Fertility?
Ask lots of questions and make sure you understand the protocols and risks.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Sharon E. Moayeri at OC Fertility?
During my first IVF cycle, the staff knew me by name, offered help often and were very supportive. It was hard to say goodbye and move on to my OBGYN once I had made it to 12 weeks pregnant. They have made me comfortable and, as a result, I have returned for 2 additional transfer attempts and now have decided to do another IVF cycle with OC Fertility.
Describe the protocols Sharon E. Moayeri used in your cycles at OC Fertility and their degree of success.
I believe my first IVF cycle, including the egg extraction and embryo transfer, was a "normal" protocol. Dr. Moayeri is conservative and recommends bed rest following the transfer for 3 days. The first transfer was successful and resulted in my daughter! When I returned for a second transfer, the protocol was very similar to the first, but it resulted in a negative pregnancy test. The third transfer cycle, which was for my last embryo, was altered to include Lupron and acupuncture. The third cycle resulted into a short pregnancy, but ultimately a miscarriage.
Describe your experience with your nurse at OC Fertility. (Assigned nurse: Angie Josipovich)
The nursing staff is great. I am always greeted by name when I come in and receive emails (which are often easier for me) and responses to my questions/ concerns quickly. Nurses took a lot of time to train me on injections and even offered to help me with them on their free time when my husband was out of town.
Describe your experience with OC Fertility.
The practice has grown and is busy, but its because they are good at what they do. Always feel free to call and ask for follow-up if you don't hear from the nurse/ doctor and they will get back to you.
Describe the costs associated with your care under Sharon E. Moayeri at OC Fertility.
I believe the egg extraction procedure, including office visits, doctor's fees, and surgery center fees is approximately $18,000. The costs for medications for me between various cycles off egg extraction has ranged between $4,000 and $7,500. The costs for transfer procedures is approximately $4,000 and medications are approximately $1,000.
Describe Sharon E. Moayeri's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at OC Fertility.
I was educated on multiple embryo transfers and given the option, but opted for single transfers.
