Unsuccessful
We never felt like Dr Deutsch really wanted to get to the "root" of the issue. He always just did the same protocols, with one exception changed medication ONCE. We had 2 IUI's and 3 IVF transfers, all of which we were very much part of the "herd" and not individuals...When asked what we could do different for the next cycle, nothing different was accomplished. IVF cycle with a fresh transfer resulted in negative pregnancy test. No changes made to seconf IVF transfer, which was frozen, resulting in another negative pregnancy test...
The only strength this clinic [Advanced Reproductive Center] has is the nurse practitioner, Kelly. The clinic itself in Peoria is located within the hospital itself, but the arlington heights location is a stand-alone clinic. There is very little inter-staff communication between the nursing staff and the front desk staff. The billing department is full of individuals who'se mission is to be helpful to their patients...The nurses will call back same day, the arlington heights staff are much much kinder and more responsive...
How was your experience with Todd Deutch at Advanced Reproductive Center?
Dr. Deutsch always seemed like he had something better to do than truly solve the issues at hand. I have had 3 recurrent miscarriages, 2 of which were chemical pregnancies. Every time we asked the potential cause, we were always met with an "I don't really know" or "there is no known cause". Dr Deutsch requested after 2-3 years of infertility that we get an A1C, as well as clotting labs. Never explaining that we would need to stop the cycle or would be in danger (during the middle of frozen cycle protocol, mind you) of stopping the cycle if the results of the a1c were abnormal. When my a1c came back high, I was excused from the practice and stopped mid-cycle from lupron, progesterone, estrodial "cold turkey" with no chance to re-test - my 4th frozen cycle was ripped from our hands without explanation or chance for re-testing when results were so absurdly abnormal. We were devastated. This was never a possibility explained to us, and as a nurse myself I was heartbroken to learn his true demeanor and practicing behavior as I had never so much had a high blood glucose. My 2nd viper-venom clotting lab also came back normal, within 48 hours of testing, when processing time is 2 weeks minimum. It became apparent to me that I had rec'd a fellow patient's blood work. I immediately called the clinic stating my concerns (and had gone to my general provider in the meantime to get a re-check of my A1C WHICH WAS NORMAL!!!!) and was quickly brushed off - still enouraged to see an endocrinologist for my diabetes that I do not, still not, and did not ever have. Let me be very clear, Dr Deutsch and his staff are not interested in helping those of us who are not "cookie cutter" fertility cases. If you at all have any challenging fertility issues, I would beg anyone as a healthcare provider myself to never seek care from this physician or his clinic.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Todd Deutch at Advanced Reproductive Center?
Seek fertility care elsewhere.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Todd Deutch at Advanced Reproductive Center?

Describe the protocols Todd Deutch used in your cycles at Advanced Reproductive Center and their degree of success.
He advised that we start with IUI - when we had asked due to my recent history of fibroids do to IVF - so we did two cycles. The first of which ended in a chemical pregnancy. When asked what we could do different for the next cycle, nothing different was accomplished. IVF cycle with a fresh transfer resulted in negative pregnancy test. No changes made to seconf IVF transfer, which was frozen, resulting in another negative pregnancy test. Dr Deutsch then placed me on lupron, an alternative medication from another I cannot recall, and that frozen transfer ended with a chemical pregnancy. I then had a natural pregnancy during a break from treatment, which ended at 7 weeks in traumatic miscarriage. When we reached out for a consultation with Dr Deutsch to discuss possible cause of reoccurent miscarriages/chemical pregnancies, this is when testing was ordered for clotting factors and A1C. No explanation for these orders was offered.
Describe your experience with the nursing staff at Advanced Reproductive Center.
When we were new patients of Dr Deutsch, he used to have a primary nurse in the peoria location (I cannot recall her name) who asked me if I was purposefully taking my progesterone when my HCG still rose to "keep it going" - when I was not. The nurses will call back same day, the arlington heights staff are much much kinder and more responsive. Sydney was kind, easy to get along with, but was not compassionate (or did not come across as such) when a cycle had an unfavorable outcome.

Describe the costs associated with your care under Todd Deutch at Advanced Reproductive Center.
Probably 10K
Describe Todd Deutch's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Advanced Reproductive Center.
I am not eligible, per Dr Deutsch, to have a multiple embryo transfer due to past surgical history of open myomectomy.
What specific things went wrong at Advanced Reproductive Center?
  • Lost results
  • Provided conflicting information
  • Canceled a cycle due to clinic error
Describe the specific things that went wrong at Advanced Reproductive Center.
As above, the behavior that we received when bloodwork came back extremely abnormal was unacceptable. As a nurse myself I strive to be the kind of nurse that cares for me, and I would say the only human being worth conversing with in this clinic that falls under clinical staff would be the APRN Kelly.

Dr Deutch is very nice and personable, but you will barely see him. Most appointments are spent with the nurses. During our meetings, I did feel like some of my concerns were waived away and not really listened to. My protocol also never changed, even when the results weren’t the best, it never changed which I questioned. He is the on-call provider and is super quick to call back when paged and is always nice, even when I had to call him late at night. His politeness helped a lot...
Most of the nursing staff [at Advanced Reproductive Center] are super sweet and friendly. The nurse I primarily saw didn’t talk much during appointments and when we would have an ultrasound she wouldn’t show me the screen or explain what she was seeing so I really never had much of an idea of how many follicles I had growing/ready. The lack of communication during ultrasounds was frustrating...Strengths - response time, personable staff and doctor, cleanliness Weaknesses - making patients feel rushed, not providing necessary information, not explaining billing accurately, lack of communication between offices/nurses...

Advocate for yourself. It seems like he sees a lot of patients but make sure you are getting the attention you need and deserve.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Todd Deutch at Advanced Reproductive Center?
I felt like when I brought up concerns they were waived off because we already had a confirmed diagnosis. It felt as if we were just going through the motions and doing what we were told without a thorough explanation as to why we were doing it and what the purpose was.
Describe the protocols Todd Deutch used in your cycles at Advanced Reproductive Center and their degree of success.
We are still in treatment and have done multiple egg retrievals. We did a pretty typical protocol each time using a mix of menopur, follistim, and ganirelix. The protocol was simple enough to follow and they provide tips on how to adminster the meds which is helpful. I produced a lot of follicles and eggs, partly due to PCOS, however we typically didn’t end up with many blastocysts each round compared to what we started with.

Describe the costs associated with your care under Todd Deutch at Advanced Reproductive Center.
I have good insurance coverage so a lot was covered, but I still have paid over $15,000 out-of-pocket. However, most of this was for embryo testing and not paid directly to our clinic
Describe Todd Deutch's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Advanced Reproductive Center.
We have not done a transfer yet, but for our diagnosis he recommends single embryo transfer, and I agree with this recommendation.

Dr. Deutsh always asks how I am doing before anything else. He speaks in a calm and gentle manner and lays all the facts out. He is direct and gives options and listens really well. We are staring our cycle soon and are hoping for the best. We don’t have insurance coverage for this so any extra funds would be so helpful.

We haven’t started a cycle yet but we will be doing stim for about ten days then egg retrieval and transfer if all goes well 3-5 days later.

He [Dr. Deutch] listened to me, was extremely well informed, cared about my entire well being not just my infertility well being. Cared about my husband who wasn't even present. Gave me all of my options including all risks with treatment options and thoroughly explained everything. Great bedside manner. ... Well informed and showed me research to back up claims.
The office [Advanced Reproductive Center] could use some updating and it makes me wonder if they are up to date with their technology. They should have a pricing sheet to being home or a brochure with recap of success rates for different treatments. O forgot to write this down in my consultation and they referred me to their website instead. Unfamiliar with the nursing staff at this point

Consultation only so far. I have had 3 IUIs at another clinic with no pregnancy. He recommended we try one more IUI of we wanted but chances of pregnancy for the fourth one are slim and next step for us is IVF. We are currently in the process of saving our money and I'm waiting for day 1 of cycle to fall on a day I have off of work so I can come in for bloodwork panel

The consultation was covered majority by insurance. Quoted $1400 for IUI and $12,000 for IVF and $15,000 for IVF with IPSY. All Ultrasounds and bloodwork included in this pricing. I can't remember if meds were included in the IVF costs but I believe so

Dr Deutsch really cares about his patients! At every appointment he made me feel like he was there just for me. He ordered all of the scans and bloodwork I needed but not dozens like other clinics have. He was always on time. I truly highly recommend Dr Deutsch if you like to feel like a person and not just a number.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Todd Deutch at Advanced Reproductive Center?
This is hard but I would say trust that Dr Deutsch has your best interests at heart (because he does!) and trust his expertise/advice because he really knows what he’s doing.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Todd Deutch at Advanced Reproductive Center?
Dr Deutsch was the FIRST and ONLY doctor who actually LISTENED to me! I know my body, I know how I respond and how I feel. I educated myself on infertility. Dr Deutsch treated me with the utmost respect. I was not a client or patient. He is completely present with you and even remembers small details of previous conversations, showing you he cares and is paying attention. It was obvious to me at the first appointment that Dr Deutsch treats each patient as an individual. He really cares about you and all of his patients. He listened to me, my suggestions, my questions. I felt he partnered with me in my care, something I never experienced before, even with other doctors! My beautiful son is the result! I am forever grateful! In addition, Dr Deutsch is very down to earth and personable with a great sense of humor! I have been to other doctors but Dr Deutsch is by far the best in every aspect! He is an expert in his field. I was never ever rushed, pressured or waiting in his office for him. He explained everything very well and I felt confident in his recommendations. He tailored a treatment plan just for me, taking into consideration my MTHFR. I was shocked to only have a few ultrasound scans while another clinic I went to insisted on one a DAY, sometimes Even two on occasion! I had the blood draws I needed but not daily or every other day. These things made it not only more affordable but a pleasant experience in comparison. I cannot recommend Dr Deutsch enough! Dr Deutsch’s staff is wonderful too! Always pleasant and efficient. I hope if you are trying for a baby of your own that you are successful soon. I don’t know you but I send you my best wishes whatever you decide or do. You can do it and you will do it too!
Describe the protocols Todd Deutch used in your cycles at Advanced Reproductive Center and their degree of success.
Because I had done 8 fresh cycles myself over the years and because of “advanced age”and recurrent miscarriage, we chose to proceed with an egg donor and my husband’s sperm. I don’t know the protocol used with the donor. He agreed to freeze the embryos and teturn 1 at a time at a later date. Meanwhile he agreed on a strategy to prevent miscarriage and improve implantation. This included massages, accupuncture, and treatment for my MTHFR I did not take Birth Control pills to regulate my cycle (they drive down B9/Folate) so he carefully monitored and worked with my body’s own cycle. I took certain doses of B9/Folate (not Folic Acid!) as well as B12 and B6. I also took the other Bs, fish oil, Ubiquinol (methylated CoQ10), a very high quality prenatal, an easily absorbable Iron Supplement (I have very low Iron without it), 20,000-25,000 IU vitamin D per day, probiotics (as many high quality strains as I could) and timed release vitamin c. Some of these were my idea from my previous successful pregnancy with his ok. I felt so good even my lifelong tinnitus went away! Our goal was to reduce inflammation, avoid miscarriage and support implantation in any way we could to achieve a healthy pregnancy and baby.

Describe your experience with your monitoring appointments at Advanced Reproductive Center.
I love that I only had 2 “monitoring appts” after I achieved pregnancy! I didn’t need more and they were actually done on my follow up appts. One to confirm pregnancy, the other to confirm everything for discharge! The other clinics I went to had me come in every day and sometimes twice a day! I don’t think it’s needed and I don’t think it’s good for the baby. What a relief!

We did reciprocal IVF [with Dr. Deutch] so Mr wife underwent stimulation and retrieval and the resulting embryo was transferred to me...At retrieval she had 23 eggs. 16 were mature and 13 fertilized normally. We ended up with 5 very high quality embryos. One was transferred and four were frozen. We did a five day transfer to me and are currently 16 weeks pregnant with our son after the first try.
Advanced Reproductive Center went out of their way to try to make our appointments as convenient for us as possible. Dr. Deutch even offered to come in early a couple of times so we could have our appointment at the office closer to our home! The nurses were so kind and fun. We missed them once we graduated to our obstetrician!...She [nurse] was very caring and compassionate. Always pleasant to work with. I sometimes felt that because I am a nurse in a somewhat related field (labor and delivery) that I received abbreviated explainations. To be fair, this is often true with any medical care when the staff knows you are a nurse. That being said she always answered my questions when asked.
How was your experience with Todd Deutch at Advanced Reproductive Center?
Dr. Deutch is extremely knowledgeable in the area of reproductive medicine. He treats his patients like people and takes his time to explain everything. His own children were conceived by IVF so he is very understanding and compassionate. If we paged him with a question even on a weekend he returned our call immediately and was very patient and kind. We could not have had a better experience and have recommended him to a close family member.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Todd Deutch at Advanced Reproductive Center?
If you live in the area, go see him! Even if you don’t! We drove an hour and a half to see him and would do it again.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Todd Deutch at Advanced Reproductive Center?
Doctor Deutch personally called us himself when the clinic learned our insurance denied coverage because he knew we would be disappointed. We did reciprocal IVF so an embryo created with my wife’s egg and donor sperm would be transferred to me. My insurance called me a surrogate and he made it clear to us that he strongly disagreed and that I am the child’s mother as much as my wife is. It was very clear he cared about us.
Describe the protocols Todd Deutch used in your cycles at Advanced Reproductive Center and their degree of success.
We did reciprocal IVF so Mr wife underwent stimulation and retrieval and the resulting embryo was transferred to me. We started on birth control to sync our cycles. I then did lupron injections for about a month before my wife started her stims. I eventually added estrance tablets and then progesterone in oil injections. I triggered with a pregnyl trigger. My wife was monitored very closely for ohss because she had many follicles to start with. She started with follistim and eventually added menopur and cetrotide. She had very frequent monitoring. She only had to stim for 8 days and triggered with lupron. At retrieval she had 23 eggs. 16 were mature and 13 fertilized normally. We ended up with 5 very high quality embryos. One was transferred and four were frozen. We did a five day transfer to me and are currently 16 weeks pregnant with our son after the first try. I continued with estrace and progesterone in oil injections until 12 weeks. We tapered the dosage from ten weeks on.

This is a smaller practice. Dr. Deutch is the only physician. For us that was a plus. We knew he would be doing all of our procedures. They have two locations. Rockford and Arlington Heights. Describe the costs associated with your care under Todd Deutch at Advanced Reproductive Center.
Egg retrieval with monitoring cost us $12,500. Fresh embryo transfer with monitoring was $3,500. Our medications cost about $6,000
Describe Todd Deutch's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Advanced Reproductive Center.
Our doctor would only transfer one embryo to me because I have chronic hypertension. He was very clear that his goal was not just to get us pregnant but to give us the most healthy pregnancy he could. He did say that if we had a couple of unsuccessful attempts that he would transfer two embryos. It did not seem like he was against transferring multiple embryos in general but did not feel it was the best plan for us.

Dr. Deutch started me on Clomid with IUI's, but the medication wasn't giving us the desired effect. It wasn't producing the eggs needed and was causing me to ovulate early. After 3 failed cycles, he switched me to Letrozole and that was working! We did 7 cycles of that medicine with 5 IUI's. Unfortunately, I suffered two chemical pregnancies. Our diagnosis of unexplained infertility was frustrating but Dr. Deutch was optimistic that one round of IVF would be successful for us.
From start to finish, the nurses [at Advanced Reproductive Center] were caring and compassionate to our situation. They always greeted us with a smile whether it be on the phone or in person... It was spacious but not too big. Dr. Deutch's office in particular was warm and inviting. The procedure rooms were always tidy as well. One thing that was nice, is that they wouldn't schedule a lot of patients at once. I think I only ever saw two other women while visiting. Discretion was important to them!
How was your experience with Todd Deutch at Advanced Reproductive Center?
From our very first consult, Dr. Deutch listened to our concerns and answered every question that we had. He never rushed us or made us feel as if we were wasting his time. He was caring and knowledgeable and made us feel welcome and comfortable in his office. He made us feel optimistic while at the same time being realistic about the outcomes. The only reason we didn't pursue further treatments till pregnancy was achieved was because of financial reasons. We will absolutely be going back to Dr. Deutch though should we decide to pursue IVF! I would recommend him to anyone!

Describe your experience with Advanced Reproductive Center.
It is in a convenient location of town. It was clean and always in proper order when we visited. No complaints! It was spacious but not too big. I think I only ever saw two other women while visiting. Discretion was important to them!
Describe the costs associated with your care under Todd Deutch at Advanced Reproductive Center.
Our insurance covered 80% of our IUI's, so that was extremely helpful! We had to pay out of pocket for my medication, but it was never very much money. The most expensive thing was the trigger shots, but even those were $100 a piece, which in the grand scheme of things, is not that bad.
