Unsuccessful
We never felt like Dr Deutsch really wanted to get to the "root" of the issue. He always just did the same protocols, with one exception changed medication ONCE. We had 2 IUI's and 3 IVF transfers, all of which we were very much part of the "herd" and not individuals...When asked what we could do different for the next cycle, nothing different was accomplished. IVF cycle with a fresh transfer resulted in negative pregnancy test. No changes made to seconf IVF transfer, which was frozen, resulting in another negative pregnancy test...
The only strength this clinic [Advanced Reproductive Center] has is the nurse practitioner, Kelly. The clinic itself in Peoria is located within the hospital itself, but the arlington heights location is a stand-alone clinic. There is very little inter-staff communication between the nursing staff and the front desk staff. The billing department is full of individuals who'se mission is to be helpful to their patients...The nurses will call back same day, the arlington heights staff are much much kinder and more responsive...
How was your experience with Todd Deutch at Advanced Reproductive Center?
Dr. Deutsch always seemed like he had something better to do than truly solve the issues at hand. I have had 3 recurrent miscarriages, 2 of which were chemical pregnancies. Every time we asked the potential cause, we were always met with an "I don't really know" or "there is no known cause". Dr Deutsch requested after 2-3 years of infertility that we get an A1C, as well as clotting labs. Never explaining that we would need to stop the cycle or would be in danger (during the middle of frozen cycle protocol, mind you) of stopping the cycle if the results of the a1c were abnormal. When my a1c came back high, I was excused from the practice and stopped mid-cycle from lupron, progesterone, estrodial "cold turkey" with no chance to re-test - my 4th frozen cycle was ripped from our hands without explanation or chance for re-testing when results were so absurdly abnormal. We were devastated. This was never a possibility explained to us, and as a nurse myself I was heartbroken to learn his true demeanor and practicing behavior as I had never so much had a high blood glucose. My 2nd viper-venom clotting lab also came back normal, within 48 hours of testing, when processing time is 2 weeks minimum. It became apparent to me that I had rec'd a fellow patient's blood work. I immediately called the clinic stating my concerns (and had gone to my general provider in the meantime to get a re-check of my A1C WHICH WAS NORMAL!!!!) and was quickly brushed off - still enouraged to see an endocrinologist for my diabetes that I do not, still not, and did not ever have. Let me be very clear, Dr Deutsch and his staff are not interested in helping those of us who are not "cookie cutter" fertility cases. If you at all have any challenging fertility issues, I would beg anyone as a healthcare provider myself to never seek care from this physician or his clinic.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Todd Deutch at Advanced Reproductive Center?
Seek fertility care elsewhere.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Todd Deutch at Advanced Reproductive Center?

Describe the protocols Todd Deutch used in your cycles at Advanced Reproductive Center and their degree of success.
He advised that we start with IUI - when we had asked due to my recent history of fibroids do to IVF - so we did two cycles. The first of which ended in a chemical pregnancy. When asked what we could do different for the next cycle, nothing different was accomplished. IVF cycle with a fresh transfer resulted in negative pregnancy test. No changes made to seconf IVF transfer, which was frozen, resulting in another negative pregnancy test. Dr Deutsch then placed me on lupron, an alternative medication from another I cannot recall, and that frozen transfer ended with a chemical pregnancy. I then had a natural pregnancy during a break from treatment, which ended at 7 weeks in traumatic miscarriage. When we reached out for a consultation with Dr Deutsch to discuss possible cause of reoccurent miscarriages/chemical pregnancies, this is when testing was ordered for clotting factors and A1C. No explanation for these orders was offered.
Describe your experience with the nursing staff at Advanced Reproductive Center.
When we were new patients of Dr Deutsch, he used to have a primary nurse in the peoria location (I cannot recall her name) who asked me if I was purposefully taking my progesterone when my HCG still rose to "keep it going" - when I was not. The nurses will call back same day, the arlington heights staff are much much kinder and more responsive. Sydney was kind, easy to get along with, but was not compassionate (or did not come across as such) when a cycle had an unfavorable outcome.

Describe the costs associated with your care under Todd Deutch at Advanced Reproductive Center.
Probably 10K
Describe Todd Deutch's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Advanced Reproductive Center.
I am not eligible, per Dr Deutsch, to have a multiple embryo transfer due to past surgical history of open myomectomy.
What specific things went wrong at Advanced Reproductive Center?
  • Lost results
  • Provided conflicting information
  • Canceled a cycle due to clinic error
Describe the specific things that went wrong at Advanced Reproductive Center.
As above, the behavior that we received when bloodwork came back extremely abnormal was unacceptable. As a nurse myself I strive to be the kind of nurse that cares for me, and I would say the only human being worth conversing with in this clinic that falls under clinical staff would be the APRN Kelly.
