Attention to Detail

Attention to detail is on a 1 - 10 scale, and is scored based on the rate, and severity, of errors committed by the clinic according to the patients.

For example, a severe error might be failing to inform a patient of critical information, while a small error might be failing to call a patient with results.

CDC Success Rates

This is the most recent data from the CDC. The CDC cautions that it should not be used to compare doctors and clinics. This data represents the outcomes of IVF cycles when using a person's own eggs.

For more information please see our FAQs.

Where you see a “?” on the chart, a clinic has done fewer than 20 cycles in this category and age range, so the CDC says showing percentages from this small data set would be misleading and unreliable.

Dr. Gentry did an amazing job taking his time when were in office or right in front of him- excellent bedside manner...2 surgery procedures with Gentry and he did not call me after either to check-in...told me I was "a difficult case" when talking with me about his recommended next steps...my fibroids
[Advanced Fertility Group] staff however we not the best at following up when they said they would and their front desk regular is not as kind and empathetic...Strengths- friendly and welcoming...Weakness...knowledge...keeping up with referrals and next steps as dictated by doctor...nurses seem stretched
How was your experience with William Gentry at Advanced Fertility Group?
Dr. G was a good listener, took notes, and remembered my case. I felt like he knew what was going on and we trusted him. After meeting with two other doctors after him, I realize he maybe should not have repeated the fibroid procedure a second time and instead should have referred me out when the first procedure didn't go as planned. He told us about risks and how things may not work but I think he was a little too optimistic about his ability to get the size fibroid I had in my uterine cavity OUT. He made it seem like it could dissenegrate but after meeting with other doctors, I don't think this was realistic. Now under another doctor's care, I am also questioning the medication he put me on before the procedure- it didn't seem to shrink the fibroids like he thought it would. He did clear my fallopian tubes with the laproscopic procedure which was hopeful. I mentioned before, I didn't appreciate not receiving a call after my procedures and more than once I called the office to talk with him without coming to the office and I was told there was not a way to do that. I had no less than 7 office visits with him that were paid for so the inability to talk on the phone is unacceptable to me. In our last visit, he told me I was "a difficult case" when talking with me about his recommended next steps. He clarified that this was not in reference to me as a person or my personality, but my fibroids. It didn't make me comfortable that my situation seemed too much for him to handle and that made me lose hope.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of William Gentry at Advanced Fertility Group?
I would not recommend Dr. Gentry for fertility. There are better options out there.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with William Gentry at Advanced Fertility Group?
Dr. Gentry did an amazing job taking his time when were in office or right in front of him- excellent bedside manner. His staff however we not the best at following up when they said they would and their front desk regular is not as kind and empathetic as I'd like to see with someone who deals daily with high stress patients (infertility) regularly. I also did not like that I had 2 surgery procedures with Gentry and he did not call me after either to check-in. The surgery center called and the nurse called, but HE did not call
Describe the protocols William Gentry used in your cycles at Advanced Fertility Group and their degree of success.
2 months before my hysterocopy myomectomy, I was put on Orilissa. A hysterocopy myomectomy with laproscopy (to clear fallopian tubes) was performed to attempt to remove fibroids in the cavity. The first procedure didn't work, something about fluid timer running out and the tool used not making enough of a dent in the stubborn fibroid. I was recommended to go back after a second MRI revealed the fibroid didn't really shrink from the procedure. The second procedure had the same result so he recommended that I work with an OGBYN that he knows who has more advanced robotic tools that may get a better handle on the fibroids before coming back to start IVF. Because of feeling intuitively that I didn't like the way he handled my treatment plan, I decided if we go with IVF, I'd feel more comfortable doing it with a more thorough doctor.
Describe your experience with the nursing staff at Advanced Fertility Group.
One of the nurses was very warm with me but she was short. Since I couldn't talk with the doctor I often asked her tons of questions but she often seemed like her foot was literally out the door to the next client. I often wondered, Are they too busy. They handled my referral out horribly. I had to track down the doctor name, location, and office and say I had been referred- I had to send my own records because I didn't trust they'd be sent. If I left 10 voice messages, 6 of them would be returned in a timely manner. The others, I'd have to call and leave another message imploring a call back. The nurses didn't not seem as knowledgeable as I thought they should be- they seem to have been there for years but often answered questions in the same way an admin assistant might answer. I'd expect if I couldn't speak to the doctor, I'd get well informed answers from the nurses. When I had my two procedures at the surgery center, I never saw a nurse from Gentry's office. I think that's a big miss.
Describe your experience with Advanced Fertility Group.
Strengths- friendly and welcoming to the clinic Weakness - knowledge, keeping up with referrals and next steps as dictated by doctor, paper prescriptions and blood orders (outdated and easy to lose). Unhappy with how well they communicated although at times communication was strong. The nurses seem stretched- perhaps there should be more nurses or they should take on less patients.
Describe the costs associated with your care under William Gentry at Advanced Fertility Group.
Out of pocket is approximately $2900
Describe William Gentry's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Advanced Fertility Group.

What specific things went wrong at Advanced Fertility Group?
  • Failed to call in prescriptions to pharmacy
  • Lost paperwork
  • Failed to call with results
  • Failed to send your chart to another clinic
  • Provided conflicting information
  • Failed to convey critical information
Describe the specific things that went wrong at Advanced Fertility Group.
The answering service that the clinic uses before they open at 9am and during the lunch hour is unacceptable. The service does not take messages. I should be able to call at 845am before my work day and leave a message for the nurse and anticipate a call back. Instead, I would need to wait until they open and call then. This felt like a gross mishandling of patient needs

Every time we see Dr Gentry, he recognizes us and we can pick up where we left off last time in our conversation...[he] has done a full consultation with me before every cycle and has included me in making our "game plan" each time. I also have seen him for some of my ultrasounds and, of course, every procedure...[he] does allow multiple embryo transfer, but they did take some time to educate us on the associated risks
As a whole, everyone [at Advanced Fertility Group] is very personable and eager to help. Even their office staff is incredibly helpful with scheduling visits around my work schedule and convincing my insurance to pay for things that I didn't think they would. The only thing I could see as a weakness is that they are very old school; you won't have an online chart to check test results and there aren't any video call options.
How was your experience with William Gentry at Advanced Fertility Group?
I have told my entire family that I wish Dr. Gentry was my doctor for everything. He has shown me so much empathy and I feel like he has grieved the losses and celebrated the victories right alongside us. At my past clinic, I only saw the doctor once through 4 cycles of treatment. Dr. Gentry has done a full consultation with me before every cycle and has included me in making our "game plan" each time. I also have seen him for some of my ultrasounds and, of course, every procedure.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of William Gentry at Advanced Fertility Group?
Don't be afraid to ask questions, but be ready to hear the truth! Dr. Gentry is great at explaining everything you want to know.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with William Gentry at Advanced Fertility Group?
Dr. Gentry took the time to get to know us and our goals before starting treatment. Every time we see Dr Gentry, he recognizes us and we can pick up where we left off last time in our conversation. I think most importantly, he cares very much about keeping us calm and hopeful; always asking how I'm feeling, telling me fun facts to distract me during procedures, and ending every visit with "we'll get you that baby!".
Describe the protocols William Gentry used in your cycles at Advanced Fertility Group and their degree of success.
I had close monitoring during stims because of my increased risk of OHSS. So, dosages changed fairly frequently. Since I have a hard time building a thick enough endometrium, we decided a freeze all with FET would be the best protocol. After my first transfer failed, we chose to do an ERA biopsy which revealed that I was passed my most fertile window at the time of transfer and we adjusted for the second transfer.
Describe your experience with your nurse at Advanced Fertility Group. (Assigned nurse: Moya)
I typically see Moya and I greatly appreciate how fast and easy all of our communication is. If I have a question on the weekend or anything, she is always an email away. Amberlee usually does my ultrasounds and she is always very encouraging.

Describe the costs associated with your care under William Gentry at Advanced Fertility Group.
I believe we have spent around $20,000 for retrieval and 2 FETs. They do offer generous discounts for paying with cash or check and that has saved us a few thousand.
Describe William Gentry's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Advanced Fertility Group.
My doctor does allow multiple embryo transfer, but they did take some time to educate us on the associated risks. We decided eSET was the better option for us.

Dr. Gentry was a pleasant, caring, and kind individual. He always was positive when I felt the worst and boosted me up...I felt he treated me as a human and cared about getting me pregnant. He would start by stating all the options we had and then allowed me to make the decision...Go in with questions and never feel any question is a stupid one. He is willing to answer anything and will be positive through everything.
[Advanced Fertility Group] Strengths- working on financing, being positive/upbeat and inviting, the nurses are hard working and willing to answer questions. Weakness- Doctors communication, availability to speak with a nurse or doctor. When I call I have to leave a message and wait to hear back from the nurses...They give you a discount if you pay upfront with cash or check. The IVF treatment is around 9,000 with the upfront discount of cash or check.
How was your experience with William Gentry at Advanced Fertility Group?
Dr Gentry was a pleasant, caring, and kind individual. He always was positive when I felt the worst and boosted me up. I felt he struggled to fully guide me to the best option of what to do. He is great at laying down all options but I sometimes didn't know which to choose and wish he would have suggested the laparoscopy sooner. My choices a lot of times focused on money and not odds, so I would've liked him to push me toward others or at least gave me a better understanding of the odds to conceive with each option.

I felt he treated me as a human and cared about getting me pregnant. He would start by stating all the options we had and then allowed me to make the decision.
Describe the protocols William Gentry used in your cycles at Advanced Fertility Group and their degree of success.
For my first cycle we started with pills due to my results on testing being positive and not showing any negative signs. When two of those failed we moved to injections with natural intercourse, then IUI. Each cycle showed at least 2 mature follicles, so he upped the dosage of medication. After 4 failed cycles he suggested we do a laparoscopy to see if there was anything inside effecting my cycles. The surgery showed endometriosis, so that was removed. He then proceeded to try one more IUI, and when that failed I choose IVF.
Describe your experience with the nursing staff at Advanced Fertility Group.
The nursing staff was great to work with. They helped communicate information that I was confused about and worked with me to get over my worries. They are dedicated to helping and getting a positive anyway they can.

Describe the costs associated with your care under William Gentry at Advanced Fertility Group.
Cost under Dr. Gentry varies based on treatment. The medicine was all based on type and dosage amounts. For treatment at the facility IUI cost around 1000. They give you a discount if you pay upfront with cash or check. The IVF treatment is around 9,000 with the upfront discount of cash or check.

I have felt like a human. Dr. Gentry is very nice and answers questions....I do feel like he doesn’t have lots of experience with DOR though because we’ve been trying to figure out my meds for 2 years now.... He has been a fertility doctor a long time and did surgery to remove endometriosis. But I also feel that he doesn’t tell you that you can do anything extra to help your fertility. Only taking prenatal vitamins is their ‘extra’ thing in the process.
Nice compassionate staff [Advanced Fertility Group]. I wish they were more knowledgeable about extra things you can do in your fertility journey that may help you.... I did have a time last summer where I guess they were short staffed and didn’t return my phone calls four or five times when I wanted to start my next cycle. So we almost left the clinic and a nurse finally got back in touch with us. There are 3 there right now I really like. They’re great nurses.
How was your experience with William Gentry at Advanced Fertility Group?
Probably repeating myself, but I do like Dr. Gentry. He has been a fertility doctor a long time and did surgery to remove endometriosis. But I also feel that he doesn’t tell you that you can do anything extra to help your fertility. Only taking prenatal vitamins is their ‘extra’ thing in the process.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of William Gentry at Advanced Fertility Group?
Keep inventory of your meds so they don’t order you stuff you don’t need. They don’t know what you have when you start your next cycle. Do research and advocate for yourself.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with William Gentry at Advanced Fertility Group?
I have felt like a human. Dr. Gentry is very nice and answers questions. The nurses are all nice too. I do feel like he doesn’t have lots of experience with DOR though because we’ve been trying to figure out my meds for 2 years now.
Describe the protocols William Gentry used in your cycles at Advanced Fertility Group and their degree of success.
For my DOR, we had success with Femara and low dose injectible, Gonal F. I finally got three mature follicles with that protocol, but it has taken 2 years to get that positive outcome.
Describe your experience with the nursing staff at Advanced Fertility Group.
They have all been great for the most part. I did have a time last summer where I guess they were short staffed and didn’t return my phone calls four or five times when I wanted to start my next cycle. Describe your experience with Advanced Fertility Group.
Nice compassionate staff. I wish they were more knowledgeable about extra things you can do in your fertility journey that may help you. I was very turned off by the fact they didn’t call me back for about three months over the summer.
Describe your experience with your monitoring appointments at Advanced Fertility Group.
You go in at 7:30 and it’s first come first serve for patients. If they were busy and you got there any time past 7:30 you’d probably be there until at least 8:30.
Describe the costs associated with your care under William Gentry at Advanced Fertility Group.
At first it was more expensive but it’s been a little cheaper because I’m taking less medication in my treatment cycles. We have spent around $15,000 probably so far.
Describe William Gentry's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Advanced Fertility Group.
He would transfer 2 eggs, I believe. We haven’t had success with having embryos yet.

Dr. Gentry is very warm and kind, which is his biggest strength. His biggest weakness, however, is he leaves all communication with his patients up to his nurses or administrative staff. My husband and I never once talked with him over the phone or by email; we had to play phone tag several times, and it took his office manager days to respond to us.
Advanced Fertility Group's strengths would be Dr. Gentry alone. The clinic's weaknesses would be everything else that has previously been mentioned: Samantha's and Sherrie's bad attitudes, and the turnover of nurses between first and second cycles of IVF.... Samantha's attitude was very off-putting during the ultrasounds for second cycle of IVF. Sherrie's attitude about money, and reluctance to call back in a timely manner, was also very off-putting.

What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of William Gentry at Advanced Fertility Group?
Trust your gut instinct. If you have a positive experience with all of staff/medical team, and that's where you want to go, then trust your instinct. My husband and I stayed with him through two IVF cycles and one unsuccessful embryo transfer, and will be switching doctor's, probably to Dr. Michael Henry this coming Friday.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with William Gentry at Advanced Fertility Group?
Dr. Gentry was amazing, and always soft and encouraging. It was his administrative staff, Sherrie, and his ultrasound technician, Samantha, who made the second cycle of IVF unpleasant. They were very bitter, cold, and non-personable.
Describe the protocols William Gentry used in your cycles at Advanced Fertility Group and their degree of success.
Our first IVF cycle, I was on birth control pills for 16 days prior to injections, which included four days of Menopur (75) and Follistim (300). We started the Ganirelix injection, along with Menopur (75) and Follistim (225), on the fifth day. We triggered with Pregnyl on the ninth day, and egg retrieval was on the 11th day. Our second IVF cycle was similar, although I was on birth control pills for 21 days prior to injections, which included four days of Menopur (a double dose: 150) and Follistim (300). We started the Ganirelix injection, along with Menopur (150) and Follistim (225), on the fifth day. We triggered with Pregnyl on the ninth day, and egg retrieval was on the 11th day.
Describe your experience with the nursing staff at Advanced Fertility Group.
Our nursing staff for our first cycle of IVF was wonderful: Maria was our main nurse, and she has since left the clinic, which was a disappointment during our second cycle. We worked with Kate, and she was newer, so we didn't quite build a connection with her like we did with Maria. I want to give HUGE props to our embryologist, Dr. Jaime Hogerty, at CRBI. She has been nothing but supportive throughout our entire Baby journey. We will still be working with her when we switch doctors to Dr. Henry. Samantha, the ultrasound technician, was great during our first cycle of IVF, but very bitter and cold during our second cycle of IVF. Sherrie, the office manager, has always been more concerned about money than about being compassionate. She takes days to return phone calls.

Describe the costs associated with your care under William Gentry at Advanced Fertility Group.
First cycle of IVF totaled just over $32,000. Second cycle of IVF cost just over $22,000.
Describe William Gentry's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Advanced Fertility Group.
For our embryo transfer in May 2018, my husband and I, along with Dr. Gentry, our embryologist, and our surrogate, decided to transfer one embryo. Dr. Gentry was willing to transfer two if we wanted.

He [Dr. Gentry] took over an hour with my husband and myself for our initial consultation which was way more than I expected. He listened to my concerns and let me be a part of the decision making and gave us multiple pathways of how treatments could go (plan a, plan b, plan c).... I used IUI with injectables for my treatment with Dr. Gentry. He doubled the dose of injectables that I had been using for my past treatments and also got more indepth lab work done
Quiet office [Advanced Fertility Group] with smiling, friendly staff. They always make sure I understand the billing and have been great with billing my insurance. They make sure to get me in when I need to be seen, even if it is at a different location.... Kate is incredible and makes me feel so at ease with the treatment plan. She performed my IUI and even though I was terrified, I was comfortable with her performing it. She takes her time with me

Be upfront with what you want and do not be afraid to ask about alternative treatment plans.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with William Gentry at Advanced Fertility Group?
Every time I meet with the staff at the office, I am treated amazingly. They ask about my life in general, not just my infertility. Each time the nurse calls me with test results, she takes her time to answer any additional questions I have.
Describe the protocols William Gentry used in your cycles at Advanced Fertility Group and their degree of success.
I used IUI with injectables for my treatment with Dr. Gentry. He doubled the dose of injectables that I had been using for my past treatments and also got more indepth lab work done than my previous MD. We ended up pushing my IUI back by 2 days since I only had 1 mature follicle.
Describe your experience with your nurse at Advanced Fertility Group. (Assigned nurse: Kate)
Kate is incredible and makes me feel so at ease with the treatment plan. She performed my IUI and even though I was terrified, I was comfortable with her performing it. She takes her time with me each visit, especially since I am terrified of needles, and allows me to lay down with each blood draw (her suggestion).

IUI was $320 because I paid with a check. Other costs were billed to my insurance, but my insurance does not pay for the IUI procedure.

Dr Gentry is the first Dr who showed us any effort and confidence that he would indeed help us get pregnant; which happened, but unfortunately ended in miscarriage. I was originally referred to him and am forever grateful for that referral.... We prepared for IUI with Femara, Novarel and Progesterone as I was just not ovulating like I should've been. Tried 2 months of treatments and took a month off which Dr Gentry said sometimes when taking a month off the meds,
Sometimes, it's hard to get a call back from the front desk receptionist [Advanced Fertility Group]. It's only her which I understand can get busy, but there have been a few times I've had to follow up multiples times to get anyone to answer when trying to make a payment....I love Kayte. She is amazing and Dr Gentry is so lucky to have her as part of his staff. She goes out of her way and texts/calls to check up on you; even on the weekends when she isn't even obligated to check on her patients.
How was your experience with William Gentry at Advanced Fertility Group?
Dr Gentry is the first Dr who showed us any effort and confidence that he would indeed help us get pregnant; which happened, but unfortunately ended in miscarriage. I was originally referred to him and am forever grateful for that referral. I love how down to earth he is and that he truly tells it like it is regardless if it's something you need and/or want to hear. He is always optimistic and is more than determined to get you to the future you want.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of William Gentry at Advanced Fertility Group?
Give him a chance and be patient with him as he is a very busy man but will do everything in his power to achieve the #1 goal you have always wanted.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with William Gentry at Advanced Fertility Group?
Dr Gentry shows that he cares and he proves that by recommending the best advice and suggestions he feels is right for you and your family.
Describe the protocols William Gentry used in your cycles at Advanced Fertility Group and their degree of success.
We prepared for IUI with Femara, Novarel and Progesterone as I was just not ovulating like I should've been. Tried 2 months of treatments and took a month off which Dr Gentry said sometimes when taking a month off the meds, it can sort of jump start your body to do what it's supposed to do in which my body did. I ovulated and got pregnant naturally on our own.
Describe your experience with your nurse at Advanced Fertility Group. (Assigned nurse: Kayte)
I love Kayte. She is amazing and Dr Gentry is so lucky to have her as part of his staff. She goes out of her way and texts/calls to check up on you; even on the weekends when she isn't even obligated to check on her patients. She in my opinion has become more of a friend than just a nurse. Besides my husband, she has been my rock through this whole process; even with having a miscarriage. She needs to know how amazing she is.

Describe the costs associated with your care under William Gentry at Advanced Fertility Group.
Infertility is not cheap. Lets be real. But, with that being said, the costs weren't terrible considering they allow you to make payments as long as you are true to your word and truly make your payments on time and frequent. My husband and I have no issues with the amounts Dr Gentry's office has provided.

Dr. Gentry is very friendly and personable. He gives his opinion, but also lets you guide your own treatment plan. ... When I felt as though our initial plan wasn’t working he talked with me and we came up with a new plan. ... During my procedure he found and removed Stage 2 Endometriosis. ... He even called me personally to follow up on my ultrasound and bloodwork when his nurse was out of the office.
In order to speak with them [nurses] you have to leave a voicemail and they call you back same day or the next depending on urgency. ... I do not like that the phone line closes daily during lunch [Advanced Fertility Group] and you are not able to leave a voicemail during this time. Ultrasounds and bloodwork are first come/first serve in the morning so you never know how busy it is going to be. Most of the time I waited only 5-10 minutes, but one morning I waited 1.5 hours for my US and bloodwork.
How was your experience with William Gentry at Advanced Fertility Group?
Dr. Gentry is very warm and friendly. He is intelligent and supportive. He always answered all of my questions and gave me options, allowing me to be a part of my plan of care. When I felt as though our initial plan wasn’t working he talked with me and we came up with a new plan. He even called me personally to follow up on my ultrasound and bloodwork when his nurse was out of the office.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of William Gentry at Advanced Fertility Group?
Be a part of your treatment plan. Research and ask questions to be best prepared

Dr. Gentry is very friendly and personable. He gives his opinion, but also lets you guide your own treatment plan.
Describe the protocols William Gentry used in your cycles at Advanced Fertility Group and their degree of success.
At first, Dr. Gentry was 100% confident I would conceive without IVF, given I was unexplained infertility. He recommended I proceed with injectables and IUI (I had two previously before switching RE’s). When this IUI failed, I felt like something more needed to be done. Once I explained my irritable bladder, occasional severe cramps & mid-cycle bleeding, Dr. Gentry suggested an exploratory lap. During my procedure he found and removed Stage 2 Endometriosis. After this my husband and I wanted to try to conceive naturally. We tried on our own for two months and then with Clomid/timed intercourse the third month following surgery. When these failed, we did another IUI with injectables, which was also unsuccessful.
Describe your experience with the nursing staff at Advanced Fertility Group.
One of the nurses moved out of state so the Indy locations are currently understaffed. The nurses are friendly. In order to speak with them you have to leave a voicemail and they call you back same day or the next depending on urgency.

My insurance did not cover any costs. I received 20% discount off of my IUI cycles for paying with a check (or cash), which made the cost around $1,500 not including medications.

Dr Gentry is very caring and conversational....he's great about going as far as you want to go, but I feel that sometimes he could have been a little more negative..Tested for blockage first, then surgery for endometriosis. Followed by natural cycles with pills When two of those failed, we tried natural with injections and ultrasound monitoring. When those failed we went to IUI, and tried that twice. Then two rounds of IVF, at which point he told me that I should consider donor eggs.
I would say the only weakness is the ultrasound times. They [Advanced Fertility Group] book everyone for the same time in the morning and then it becomes first come first served. It's not terrible, but on busy days it can get frustrating when people line jump...I loved one of them [nurses], the other was so-so. Not terrible, just not as compassionate.... Billing department is also great and straightforward....iui with meds was around 3,000 per cycle. ultrasounds were around 200. ivf ran around 12-16,000
How was your experience with William Gentry at Advanced Fertility Group?
He's great about going as far as you want to go, but I feel that sometimes he could have been a little more negative. As in, don't just tell me that of course this will work, tell me that it might not!
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of William Gentry at Advanced Fertility Group?
Research beforehand, and know your chances. If your egg reserve is low, go right to IVF instead of IUI's. If you've had previous miscarriages, ask for an APS blood test before your IVF.

When those failed we went to IUI, and tried that twice. Then two rounds of IVF, at which point he told me that I should consider donor eggs. He advised that we could keep trying with my eggs, but that we would spend a lot of money for unlikely results. The clinic worked with me and let me use a friend as a donor. First IVF with donor resulted in brief pregnancy, then failed. APS bloodwork done, another IVF this time with heparin therapy and success! Healthy baby girl born!

Dr. Gentry is friendly and has a good sense of humor, but we didn't see him very often other than initial consultations (we tried 6 rounds of IUI with my wife and 3 rounds of IUI with me, all unsuccessful). He told us my wife would probably get pregnant within 3 tries but we never got an explanation or even a guess as to why we weren't successful after 3 tries.
The nursing staff [at Advanced Fertility Group] is for the most part very caring and friendly. They took time to answer my many questions and they were empathetic when things weren't working....The clinic is in Carmel. For ultrasounds and IUIs, they have you come in around 7:30 am and it's first-come, first-serve. There were some mornings where we waited 2 hours to get an ultrasound or IUI. I would have greatly preferred they schedule specific times for those appointments.

He told us my wife would probably get pregnant within 3 tries but we never got an explanation or even a guess as to why we weren't successful after 3 tries. I felt like we had to do a lot of our own research. He also never brought up anything about lifestyle (smoking, eating, exercise, etc.). I don't necessarily want a doctor to harp on those things but I also feel like they should be brought up when trying to conceive.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of William Gentry at Advanced Fertility Group?
Know that you'll be relying a lot on the nursing staff to answer questions. If you have an idea for something that might help your chances of getting pregnant, share it (for example, I asked if we could do 2 IUIs in 1 cycle and they let us do that).
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with William Gentry at Advanced Fertility Group?
After a few tries, I started feeling like they didn't really care if we got pregnant. Dr. Gentry said we would probably get my wife pregnant within 3 IUI cycles and we had 6 unsuccessful cycles with her, without any explanation about why it wasn't working. We also had 3 unsuccessful IUI cycles with me. We spent over $15,000 overall and have nothing to show for it.
Describe the protocols William Gentry used in your cycles at Advanced Fertility Group and their degree of success.
For both my wife and I, we started with just clomid to help grow follicles and an HCG shot to promote ovulation, followed 1.5 days later by the IUI. With each subsequent IUI, we increased the clomid dosage and eventually added Gonal-F injections along with the clomid. After each IUI, we took progesterone to help with implantation and possibly prevent miscarriage. All 9 of our IUIs resulted in a negative pregnancy test.

Between 6 IUI's for my wife and 3 for me, we've spent around $15,000 (possibly more). The cost of each cycle depended on the amount of medication we needed. They do give a discount on procedures if you pay with cash or check.
What specific things went wrong at Advanced Fertility Group?
  • Lost or damaged samples
Describe the specific things that went wrong at Advanced Fertility Group.
The first time we had sperm shipped to the clinic, apparently the delivery person delivered it to the wrong lab, so when we came in for our pre-IUI ultrasound, the nurse had to sit us down and tell us that they couldn't find our sperm. We were really nervous and angry since we couldn't get more shipped in time for the IUI. Luckily, they found the shipment that afternoon and we were able to do the procedure.

Dr. Gentry is a wonderful doctor and really makes you feel calm through procedures. He was wonderful with talking us through options and weighing pros and cons we had not considered. I love that he personally called me when I showed concern after talking with a nurse about our outcomes of IUI...We started with just naturally trying with supplemental help. After two months of this method we switched to IUI route (due to beliefs we were not on board with IVF and Dr. Gentry did not push). With our IUI rounds we increased dosage and extremity of medicines used each cycle. Overall I was pleased with how they handled our case and our lack of funds trying the least expensive option first.
this facility [Advanced Fertility Group] is rather small so they have to outsource a few procedures and treatments...Nursing staff did 99% of the treatments in the office after the initial consultation so they were more doctors than nurses and these were the faces you always saw in the office. Most were friendly and kind allowing sensitivity to certain situations...This office always allowed us to do the least expensive treatment first. Also they allowed a discount depending on the payment option you chose.

I did several things with Dr. Gentry from clomid, iui's and ivf. we changed things up several times to try and achieve the best outcome possible.... He was always very honesty with what he thought the outcome would be. was willing to run and test or procedures that I thought would be beneficial and if didn't agree he would explain why. he hasn't given up on me and feels we can still have success.... he always gave us the option or 1 or 2 and didn't push us 1 way or another
I have never had any issues with the clinic [Advanced Fertility Group-Indy]. they are all great and have a great process. the only down side is that Dr Gentry had another clinic and is only in town for 2 weeks at a time. this means all cycles are batch cycles but a lot of clinics do this.... The nurses were great. I saw them and talked with them on the phone a lot. they always answered my questions or got with the dr to get answers for me.

Dr. Gentry has had several years experience with infertility. When we first went to him we thought I was going to be the problem. However our lives have changed so much now that it’s my husband is the problem. My husband had a Stem cell transplant that has left him sterile. We were lucky enough to have frozen semen but our only option is IVF.... Our first treatment option was IUI due to low motility. However, my husband was diagnosed with cancer again and had to have a stem cell transplant which has left him sterile.
They [Advanced Fertility Group] can be slow to respond because they have Dr. Gentry review the cases at the specific office. They do always get back to you though. Dr. Gentry has years of experience and has a good sense of humor too.... For IVF the cost is between $12,000-$15,000 IUI is under $700 Semen analysis is $150 Semen storage is $400/year... It can be difficult to get to see him since he has 3 office locations.... He treats each case as an individual person.

Our first treatment option was IUI due to low motility. However, my husband was diagnosed with cancer again and had to have a stem cell transplant which has left him sterile. We were able to save semen and when we contacted Dr. Gentry again he was willing to see us and reevaluate. I went through testing to make sure I was okay. Dr. Gentry even tried clomid and HCG for three months to see if my husband was still producing sperm. He found out that he is in fact sterile and our only option is IVF with our frozen semen.

He [Dr. Gentry] makes you feel important and shows compassion when speaking with you...He suggested different options of what could help. He also explained things in a way you can understand. When you had questions he is willing to sit there and listen until all is answered and you feel comfortable on what you asked. So I feel my experience is great with him...I had an ovarian drilling. As it sounds it seems like it cab ve very painful. Everyone is different but it actually wasn't bad at all. Just tend and sore in the areas the cut you at. This was to help eliminate cyst in the ovaries and help with ovulation. The strategy was that I was a good contender for this since fertility injections didn't help.
They [nursing staff at Advanced Fertility Group] help with what they can. They try their best to answer any questions for you. They communicate well for you to the doctor...The clinic is a small practice so I feel you are well taken care of. They are quick in getting you back for your appointment. If the doctor is going to be late they let you know right away and make sure you are comfortable.

I had an ovarian drilling.
Describe your experience with the nursing staff at Advanced Fertility Group.
They help with what they can. They try their best to answer any questions for you. They communicate well for you to the doctor.

My insurance isn't great so I have to pay a lot. Roughly $2000 just for injection process. They do expect to be paid before seeing him again they may let you go for about 1-2 with out paying but then will refuse after and eventually send you to collections.

Dr Gentry was very nice but we hardly saw him or spoke to him. He referred to me as his problem child... He wasn't there for any treatments I received. I only saw nurses or staff. He never did any of the call backs to talk with us about the treatments not working. He never addressed our concerns with our treatments. It would have been nice to have more day about treatments options...I feel as if they just keep doing the same treatments even after I expressed my thoughts and concerns.
I felt they [Adv Fert - Indy Penn Pkwy] really let us down. It's a hard jurney to be on and when you feel as if the doctor isn't apart of the treatments...[Nursing Staff] They where alright. They changed every time we went. Always a different nurse. The only staff that stayed the same was the ultrasound tech..I was never told any test results without asking. After my surgery they talked to my husband but didn't tell either of us much detail....

I saw Dr Gentry every time I had an appointment. He was always very positive and willing to let me try with my own eggs.... He has a great bedside manner. He was alway very positive and listened to what I wanted as a patient. I wish he would have given me my odds for IVF sooner and I wish I would have started that process sooner. He has a lot of compassion.... I had 3 IUIs one with a known sperm donor with femara and HCG trigger. Another one with a sperm donor, clomid and HCG trigger and the last with a sperm donor, clomid and HCG trigger.
Everyone at the clinic [Advanced Fertility Group] was very nice, very polite and very professional. They always seemed understanding and showed compassion and respect for my wishes. They were always responsive to my calls and my emails.... The IUIs including monitoring, office visits, ultrasounds and medications ran around $900 and the sperm was around $1100.... The nursing staff was always nice and always greeted me. They explained the processes very well and were always responsive.

Lupron and laproscopic surgery were used [by Dr. William Gentry] to unblock tubes, preserve fertility and reduce pain...He was way too concerned about long term fertility than acute issues. He wasnt as up front about potential side effects of my treatment on my daily life. He didnt seem as concerned as he should be about detrimental side effects the treatment was causeing me...I had a very poor reaction to treatment. I felt as though I was clear on my concerns and where I was personally in my life. Then no follow up happened.
Small warm waiting room [at Advanced Fertility Group]. Minimal wait times. Lack of communication once youre out of the clinic and at home. Everything was very clean but also very small. This could either make you feel more at home or congested depending on personal opinion...[nurses were] Effecient and blunt. Not particularly warm...I had a very poor reaction to treatment. He [Dr. Gentry] is an amazing physician...At my first visit after reviewing my medical history he set up an appointment for surgery because he didn’t want to waste anymore of our time like the first fertility doctor did. He knew what needed to be done and assured me he would take great care of me...Very compassionate physician who cares about his patient and their medical outcome...he completed a surgery I was told could not be done. When the scar tissue grew back from surgery he communicated with dr archer to help guide her through doing a repeat surgery to address scar tissue

Dr. Gentry is very professional and caring. He has many years of experience and is knowledgeable.... He is very knowledgeable and understanding of your situation. Dr. Gentry listen to me. He looked through all result from previous doctors. He makes it feel like he knows you personally. He explained what the next step would be but money was the issue so we put it on hold. I have had 3 miscarriages and no children...Tried a few cycle with clomid and femara... we also did injections. My eggs looked good but didnt take. My husband also has a chromosome disorder so he recommends genetic testing on embryos. Financially is our problem.
Make it seem like they have know you for years [at Advanced Fertility Group]...Cost is expensive as expected. Wish they did payment plans in office...reat staff. Great office. Front desk lady can be rude but other than that everything was great. Only wish they could do payment plans. Everyone doesn't have thousands of dollars to spend monthly. My husband and I want to have a family so back but cant afford to keep spending thousands of dollars monthly.

Dr. Gentry is a very kind doctor but tends to stick to a plan and doesn't waver much...My 3 IVF with ICSI resulted in a miscarriage at 6.5 weeks. and then I had 1 FET transfer with 2 frozen embryos that resulted in a negative pregnancy test. My husband has diabetes and low sperm motility and I was diagnosed with PCOS and Hypothyroidism before going to a fertility doctor...I wish after the 1st or 2nd failed cycle that resulted in miscarriage or chemical pregnancy that Dr. Gentry would have suggested getting the embryos genetically tested before doing a transfer. Then I would maybe has a more successful cycle than all of the ones resulting in miscarriage or chemical pregnancy or failed cycle. We would have had a better chance at transferring multiple embryos that were great quality.
The clinic [Advanced Fertility Group] was okay. For the first year or so they were going through a lot of office personal changes so the billing department was kind of all over the place. They did get back to you in a timely manner but a lot of the times the information was wrong in the billing department. I'm not sure about the embryologist because I have nothing to compare him to. He seemed to be good at his job but I had very little contact with him except on retrieval and transfer days. Dr's Gentry's main office is in Indianapolis and that office does not return phone calls in a timely manner. I've only had to call them for 1 thing and it too almost 2 weeks to get them to return phone calls and get information for me.
How was your experience with William Gentry at Advanced Fertility Group?
Dr. Gentry is very caring and seems to be very knowledgable due to his many years as a doctor. I liked Dr. Gentry as a person, but I feel like he is kind of a cookie cutter doctor meaning that he didn't adjust the treatment that much when it wasn't successful. He just added more medications on each time. I kind of felt like he has been so successful with his current approach that he doesn't waver much from the parodical. This was just my experience but I've been told by many other patients that they loved him and had great success.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of William Gentry at Advanced Fertility Group?
Just be aware that going through the process takes time and Dr. Gentry is a very kind doctor but tends to stick to a plan and doesn't waver much.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with William Gentry at Advanced Fertility Group?
Dr. Gentry is very kind and easy to talk to. I felt like he was genuine in his wanting to get us a successful pregnancy.
Describe the protocols William Gentry used in your cycles at Advanced Fertility Group and their degree of success.
Dr. Gentry had us do IVF cycles with fresh transfers also using ICSI for most of my treatments with just upping the doses of stimulating medications as well as medications to stop by body from rejecting the embryos after each unsuccessful cycle or miscarriage. My first IVF is ICSI resulted in a miscarriage at 8.5 weeks. My 2 IVF with ICSI resulted in a chemical pregnancy. My 3 IVF with ICSI resulted in a miscarriage at 6.5 weeks. and then I had 1 FET transfer with 2 frozen embryos that resulted in a negative pregnancy test. My husband has diabetes and low sperm motility and I was diagnosed with PCOS and Hypothyroidism before going to a fertility doctor.

The cost was reasonable and affordable. I never really had a problem with coming up with the money I needed for treatments. Although, I didn't have to do a lot of extra stuff that my insurance didn't cover. I'm not sure what the cost of those electives are.

Describe the specific things that went wrong at Advanced Fertility Group.
Just had conflicting information when it came to the billing department. Was told I owed a specific amount, paid it, then they said I paid too much, then I actually owed more. It was all very confusing and back and forth. Other issue was with his Indianapolis office. They were not quick to get back with you via phone and they took a long time sending over records to another doctor. As well as not sending all the records. ALSO, Dr. Gentry is not very organized in his paperwork. It is all still done on paper only and not entered into the computer so all the notes are just in his hand writing.

I only had 3 embryos from my egg retrieval make it [with Dr. Gentry]. I transferred 2 and it failed...is wonderful. He explains the plan to me so I can understand the next step. For me I am cash price. It’s been a long journey from a cancelled cycle to a failed cycle. My next step is FET WHICH he changed my protocol in order for the embryo to implant...add baby aspirin and heparin along with progesterone and doxycycline and prednisone...First one used Garinellex and my e2 levels crashed and had a cancelled cycle.
[Advanced Fertility Group is a] Small, little outdated clinic. Tv in lobby never works. Be patient on waiting. Always arrive early. Sometimes they are late or behind on calling your labs after hours and sometimes you have to call them...Nursing staff was good. Wish more organized. I know they have a new staff now as well...They were late couple times on calling results. And with my last cycle I told one nurse I was out of Menoupur on a Thursday and Saturday they wanted me to dose one last time and I didn’t order t because the other nurse said that was fine but didn’t tell the other nurse I was out of it. So had to increase my follistim pen more.

Describe the protocols William Gentry used in your cycles at Advanced Fertility Group and their degree of success.
First one used Garinellex and my e2 levels crashed and had a cancelled cycle. 2nd cycle used lupron it was longer but worked. But only follicles retrieved were from the right due to my left ovary being behind my uterus. I wished he had went for those so I could have had more eggs and more chances and was the same price for only using one ovary. 3rd for fet haven’t done yet is Lupron. And add estrace. Then last week add baby aspirin and heparin along with progesterone and doxycycline and prednisone.

Dr. Gentry reminds me a very caring person that wants you to think your going to get a baby and everything is going to go peachy king. But when something goes wrong he can't explain what has happened. To me I never fully got questions answered. It was always a yeah next time it's gonna happen and I never felt like I was heard as far as he goes.... I felt like when talking with Dr. Gentry he could never really tell me why I wasn't getting pregnant.
All of the staff [at Advanced Fertility Evansville] besides Dr. Gentry were great. They all knew you by name and always asked how you were. Clinic was very clean and you knew exactly where to go and how everything was going to go as far as scans and what not

What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of William Gentry at Advanced Fertility Group?
To stay there and get the answers to your questions. Make sure that he fully understands that everything needs to be explained fully and accurately and that means even the bad.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with William Gentry at Advanced Fertility Group?
When first being with Dr. Gentry I really felt like a human and that I was cared about. During my second and third cycles I didn't feel cared about. I felt like I was just told that yeah you look good and that it's all good and then it resulted in no pregnancies. I felt like when talking with Dr. Gentry he could never really tell me why I wasn't getting pregnant. I even had surgery to help but again nothing happens.
Describe the protocols William Gentry used in your cycles at Advanced Fertility Group and their degree of success.
I was on Menapur and Gonal F along with blood thinners and oil injections. I took birth control for the first several days and then I switched to my injections which I did for 7 nights. I took Ganarelix to help stop ovulation.
Describe your experience with the nursing staff at Advanced Fertility Group.
The nursing staff was amazing. They explained stuff better than Dr. Gentry. Tara was the best. She was always there to make sure you felt like you were a human and she knew how to console you.

Describe your experience with your monitoring appointments at Advanced Fertility Group.
About 90 percent of the time it was very smoothly ran and it was about a 5 min wait until you got in because of people in front of you. Most of the time they did a general time for everyone to be there but if you were getting more specific scans done then you were given a specific time to be there.
Describe the costs associated with your care under William Gentry at Advanced Fertility Group.
I had insurance that helped pay for my infertility treatments there so it wasn't bad. I think out of pocket with medicine and treatment costs for our first round it was around 7000 and our other rounds were around 8000 to 9000.
Describe William Gentry's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Advanced Fertility Group.
Dr. Gentry was good about whatever we wanted to do on transfers. We wanted to do 2 each time and he was happy with that. He didn't want to do anymore than 2.

Describe the specific things that went wrong at Advanced Fertility Group.
I was not called on the day of my pregnancy test by one of the nurses to tell me my results. I was specifically told I would have been called that day and she just left and didn't call.

Very little contact with the doctor [Dr. Gentry], mainly dealt with staff. When we did meet, the primary conversation was regarding money...When it came to scheduling, it was pretty much his timing, not so concerned about our timing. Not a great bedside manner....I was in agreement with his protocol of only transferring 2 embyos....My first transfer really should not have happened per the recommendations of the embryologist, but the doctor said to do the transfer, so we did.
Information would change from day to day and person to person....The clinic [Advanced Fertility Group] was not as organized as they could be. Scheduling was very difficult. Phone calls could have been made in a more timely manner....[nurse] Bea was nice and helpful. She also had a good bedside manner...Their schedule was more important than my then husband's and mine and, again, money was their primary focus.
How was your experience with William Gentry at Advanced Fertility Group?
Again, his primary concern was always about money. They added charges for all kinds of things. When it came to scheduling, it was pretty much his timing, not so concerned about our timing. Not a great bedside manner.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of William Gentry at Advanced Fertility Group?
Talk to others. Afterwards, I spoke with only 2 people who got pregnant and delivered babies with him (one of those happened about 15 years earlier and the other one was recent). Most of the people I have spoken to since said they went, did several procedures and never got a baby.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with William Gentry at Advanced Fertility Group?
Very little contact with the doctor, mainly dealt with staff. When we did meet, the primary conversation was regarding money - how much for this and that. The first transfer he told us to proceed with, I later found out in my medical records was an embryo that the embryologist advised against transferring. After that, I had twins that I was told were "perfect" which I ultimately lost. Their schedule was more important than my then husband's and mine and, again, money was their primary focus.

Menopur, Bravelle, Follistim - to produce multiple follicles

The clinic was not as organized as they could be. Scheduling was very difficult. Phone calls could have been made in a more timely manner. My first transfer really should not have happened per the recommendations of the embryologist, but the doctor said to do the transfer, so we did. I think it was just to make more money.
Describe the costs associated with your care under William Gentry at Advanced Fertility Group.
I don't remember specifically the amount, but Dr. Gentry's fee was over $4,000, his clinic fee was over $4,000 and the medications he put me on the first time were about $4,000. The second time, he put me on less expensive medications (about $2,000) and I actually responded much better! Again, he was always concerned about money whenever we spoke to him so I think his going with the more expensive meds first just goes along with that. He should have started with the less expensive (which worked much better for me) first before going for the most expensive meds.
Describe William Gentry's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Advanced Fertility Group.
I was in agreement with his protocol of only transferring 2 embyos.

Describe the specific things that went wrong at Advanced Fertility Group.
Information would change from day to day and person to person. I used to joke that the same person would give conflicting information from the previous conversation.
