Dr. Gibbs has been consistent in providing me with exceptional care. She has been a part of my fertility journey through both the darkest and most joyous moments and has always treated me with dignity and compassion. No matter my question or concern she makes me feel valued and has equipped and empowered me to better understand my body and advocate for my healthcare needs. During appointments where I have a lot of questions, she never makes me feel rushed. She has made herself available to me on short notice and her days off when necessary. If there is ever a concern that she may not be available(like when she will be in the OR) she gives me a specific point of contact for another provider at the clinic, so I am never left hanging. She presents information in a straightforward and easy to understand fashion and works with me to develop a care plan that is both effective and aligns with my personal needs and values. I trust her completely in regards to my fertility care and look forward to her providing my prenatal care as well.

During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Allison Gibbs (OB/GYN) at Anchorage Women's Clinic OBGYN?
I have been a patient of Dr. Gibbs for 4 years and over that time I have come to recognize that she is a sought after provider in my community. I know she has a very busy schedule, full of patients with a wide range of needs. You would never know it when you are in an exam room with her though. When I have an appointment with her, she treats me like I am her only patient. It doesn't matter how many questions I have or how much time I take up, she makes it clear that I matter and that she is invested in this journey with me.
Describe the protocols Allison Gibbs (OB/GYN) used in your cycles at Anchorage Women's Clinic OBGYN and their degree of success.
I utilize a Letrozole, Follistim overlap protocol followed by an Ovidrel trigger shot based off of the results of my follicle study. An IUI is performed 24 hours following the trigger. I use a progesterone supplement starting 72 hours following my trigger for luteal phase support. This protocol was initially developed and implemented by the second provider I saw and resulted in a successful, full term pregnancy after 3 cycles. That provider is no longer at the clinic, but based on my most recent labs and medical history was determined to be an appropriate protocol to resume by my current care team. It has resulted in 3 subsequent pregnancies, all of which have unfortunately resulted in a loss (1 ectopic and 2 miscarriages). We are currently awaiting the results of an RPL panel to determine if there are any modifications needed to my protocol.
Describe your experience with the nursing staff at Anchorage Women's Clinic OBGYN.
Because of the clinic's size, they have a large nursing staff. Over the 7 years I have been a patient there I have only had 2 interactions that I would consider to be negative. Otherwise I have found their nursing team to be friendly, compassionate, and professional. Because Anchorage Women's Clinic is not a fertility center(although they do provide a range of fertility services), and deals primarily with routine gynecological and obstetrical care, many of the nurses are not very familiar with fertility protocols. This can sometimes result in frustration for patients that contact the clinic by phone with questions about their medication or care plans.

The thing I appreciate the most about the clinic are the relationships I have built with the providers there. They care about their patients and are committed to providing exceptional care. I also appreciate the wide range of services they provide. In addition to gynecological, obstetric, and fertility care they provide lab services instead of sending you to the local hospital, which is the normative for many clinics in my area. They have an on staff dietician as well as a counselor that specialized in women's reproductive health issues. They also provide frequent educational classes free of charge to patients covering various stages of womanhood; from puberty, to infertility, to birth, to menopause. The area where the greatest improvements could be made is with the support staff. There have been a number of times where I have gotten lost in the shuffle needed to be overly persistent with my follow through. The support staff, particularly the clerical staff, values adherence to specific processes and procedures that cause them to sometimes be inflexible and insensitive to individualized patient needs. Although I have always been able to resolve these issues, it has required me to be more assertive than I would prefer to be and it erodes my trust in the clinic overall. I also feel that the clerical staff would benefit from some additional information regarding fertility care, terminology, and protocols to better assist patients that undergo fertility treatment there. The providers and administrators have been very receptive to my feedback however and I remain confident in the care that I am receiving.

Dr. Gibbs has been considerate of the fact that most of my treatment is not covered by my insurance. She looks for ways to maximize my insurance benefits when she can and is up front with me about the cost for services. She provides me CPT and ICD10 codes so I can verify coverage with insurance when making decisions about my care. She helps me prioritize tests and treatment when finances are an obstacle.

There was one instance where I needed a refill on a very time sensitive prescription. It took 3 days of me calling to finally get it filled and I almost had to abandon my cycle as a result. There was another occasion where I requested a copy of my medical records. When I called several days later to check on the status of my request I was told they had no record of me requesting them. There have also been a couple of occasions where I have been given conflicting information by the support staff at the clinic. I have easily had over 200 interactions with this clinic in the time I have been a patient there and although these situations have been incredibly frustrating, they are not representative of the care I have come to know and expect from the clinic.
