Attention to Detail

Attention to detail is on a 1 - 10 scale, and is scored based on the rate, and severity, of errors committed by the clinic according to the patients.

For example, a severe error might be failing to inform a patient of critical information, while a small error might be failing to call a patient with results.

CDC Success Rates

This is the most recent data from the CDC. The CDC cautions that it should not be used to compare doctors and clinics. This data represents the outcomes of IVF cycles when using a person's own eggs.

For more information please see our FAQs.

Where you see a “?” on the chart, a clinic has done fewer than 20 cycles in this category and age range, so the CDC says showing percentages from this small data set would be misleading and unreliable.

How was your experience with Shane Lipskind at Arizona Center for Fertility Studies (CCRM Network Clinic)?
Dr. Shane is the doctor that you wish was your friend. He is so smart, charismatic, caring, honest, and so dedicated to your success. I'll never forget when he opened the office for us just to see how close we were to needing a trigger shot for an egg retrieval. Above and beyond. This is a doctor who truly invests in his client's success and cares about your well being. He is beyond amazing!
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Shane Lipskind at Arizona Center for Fertility Studies (CCRM Network Clinic)?
Call now and meet with Dr.Shane. Trust his guidance. Accept the love of this really special place.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Shane Lipskind at Arizona Center for Fertility Studies (CCRM Network Clinic)?
From the very start, Dr.Shane sat in his office and we were on the couch. There was no big desk and no biology lesson. Instead he asked insightful questions, really listened, and connected to who we are as individuals, as a couple, and our goals. We felt an instant connection to Dr.Shane and his staff and always felt like they all genuinely were cheering for us and supporting our journey. From Jennifer, the nurse that we loved seeing, to Elizabeth who helped with billing, we felt like we were in the best hands.
Describe the protocols Shane Lipskind used in your cycles at Arizona Center for Fertility Studies (CCRM Network Clinic) and their degree of success.
Things I remember: a consult, bloodwork, semen analysis, lots of 'wand' appointments, procedure at SMIL, picking up medications, schedules the the office gave, and egg retrieval. Then the embryologist (ALSO INCREDIBLE) Drew filled us in with how many eggs made it to day 5, how many were sent for testing, how many were frozen. Then more drugs and bloodwork, and checking out the uterus until it was ready for the actual IVF. We went in for bloodwork after the 'two week wait' and then I waited for the call to know if I was pregnant. Then we were in the office every other week or so to monitor development until it was time to head to our 'regular' OBGYN.
Describe your experience with your nurse at Arizona Center for Fertility Studies (CCRM Network Clinic). (Assigned nurse: Jennifer)
Jennifer is so sweet, kind, patient, loving, and supportive. I was so nervous about my first shot (ever) and she drew hearts so that I knew where I had to inject myself. Jennifer took the time to show me EVERYTHING. When it was time to leave the office and go to the OBGYN, I literally cried saying goodbye to her!
Describe your experience with Arizona Center for Fertility Studies (CCRM Network Clinic).
I've poured my heart out about why this clinic means the world to us. We are looking forward to returning to ACFS to continue building our family. This is a family and team who all work together to provide you ultimate care.
Describe the costs associated with your care under Shane Lipskind at Arizona Center for Fertility Studies (CCRM Network Clinic).
Dr. Shane has all of the ACFS pricing on the website. It is clear to understand. Since our insurance doesn't cover any of this, we also had to pay for any lab work outside of the lab and we also paid out of pocket for the medications/supplements.
Describe Shane Lipskind's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Arizona Center for Fertility Studies (CCRM Network Clinic).
Dr.Shane was really articulate and caring when explaining why eSET was a better fit for our scenario. I trusted every direction and am glad that I did because I'm now a happy mother.

[Dr. Shane Lipskind] extremely knowledgeable...explains all your testing and procedures in great detail that’s digestible for you to understand...adjusts course as necessary for best success rates...is gentle, and kind. He always hears your concerns, and is extremely empathetic...diagnosed me with MTHFR gene and prescribed me meditation to help
[Arizona Center for Fertility Studies] is exquisite...calming and homey...front desk staff is exceptional...run on time 99% of the time, and I’ve only ever had to wait once...app which makes it easy to communicate, my only downfall is occasionally I would like to be able to contact the front desk for a question, and I don’t think they have a line
How was your experience with Shane Lipskind at Arizona Center for Fertility Studies (CCRM Network Clinic)?
He’s extremely knowledgeable and explains all your testing and procedures in great detail that’s digestible for you to understand. He adjusts course as necessary for best success rates. I have already recommended him to several friends.

Book the consult.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Shane Lipskind at Arizona Center for Fertility Studies (CCRM Network Clinic)?
Dr Shane is the best. He is gentle, and kind. He always hears your concerns, and is extremely empathetic. He doesn’t rush your appointment, smiles at you if he sees you when you’re getting blood work or in the waiting room, and his team of nurses is exceptional. They get back to you quickly and honestly, never making you feel silly for any questions.
Describe the protocols Shane Lipskind used in your cycles at Arizona Center for Fertility Studies (CCRM Network Clinic) and their degree of success.
We started after our testing on a specific vitamin regime for my husband and I. The vitamins for my husband were to help the sperm, and mine to help egg quality. He actually diagnosed me with MTHFR gene and prescribed me meditation to help. During our IUI, we used Letrozole and a trigger shot. Our first IUI was unsuccessful and our second just occurred so still too early to tell.
Describe your experience with Arizona Center for Fertility Studies (CCRM Network Clinic).
The clinic is exquisite. It’s very calming and homey. The front desk staff is exceptional. They run on time 99% of the time, and I’ve only ever had to wait once (which is fine, things happen and sometimes we fall behind schedule - no big deal in my opinion). They have an app which makes it easy to communicate, my only downfall is occasionally I would like to be able to contact the front desk for a question, and I don’t think they have a line - but this isn’t a make or break for me because they message back through the app quickly and call if needed. I’ve also seen Dr Rashef twice due to a scheduling conflict with myself. Once for a monitoring appointment and once for my HSG. He was also fantastic (and so was his nurse).
Describe the costs associated with your care under Shane Lipskind at Arizona Center for Fertility Studies (CCRM Network Clinic).
My testing cost roughly $600 for my HSG, ultrasound and bloodwork. My husbands Sperm Analysis was $500, and our genetic testing was $395 I believe. To my knowledge they run everything through insurance when available and that may change someone else’s cost. My insurance does cover fertility treatment once deductible is met. My IUIs were $100 out of pocket + $100 for trigger shot (cash pay). However, the total was around $1100 that got sent to insurance. That covered the whole cycle.

I wanted an HSG done to confirm my right tube was open...[Dr. Lipskind] was comforting throughout the procedure and made sure I was okay afterwards...After another miscarriage I was referred back to ACFS for additional testing and options. Dr Lipskind remembered me from nearly 10 months prior...I see [him] every time I visit the office. He takes the time to address my concerns and never seems rushed...
They’re very efficient and keep patients moving in and out of the clinic [at Arizona Center for Fertility Studies] quickly. They have also been very informative about upfront costs and what will be billed when. We talked about general timing of IVF basics but I would have loved to have seen a more detailed calendar...extremely responsive and get back to me within minutes of submitting questions on the patient portal
How was your experience with Shane Lipskind at Arizona Center for Fertility Studies (CCRM Network Clinic)?
I was first referred to ACFS after experiencing a ruptured ectopic pregnancy and loss of my left tube in my first ever pregnancy. I wanted an HSG done to confirm my right tube was open before I felt comfortable trying again. Fortunately my right tube was completely clear but I found the test to be extremely painful, to no fault of Dr Lipskind’s. He was comforting throughout the procedure and made sure I was okay afterwards. After another miscarriage I was referred back to ACFS for additional testing and options. Dr Lipskind remembered me from nearly 10 months prior (probably hard to forget me screaming during the HSG) and jumped right in to assess our case and present us with options. After mentioning the need to perform a saline sonogram, he noticed my unease and assured me that this time I would have the proper pain management to make the exam more comfortable. And that’s exactly what happened! I was slightly worried when becoming a patient that I would be just a number shuffling in and out to see nurses and staff but I see Dr Lipskind every time I visit the office. He takes the time to address my concerns and never seems rushed.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Shane Lipskind at Arizona Center for Fertility Studies (CCRM Network Clinic)?
Don’t be afraid to ask questions and utilize the time that is rightfully yours! He is always more than willing to spell everything out for you.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Shane Lipskind at Arizona Center for Fertility Studies (CCRM Network Clinic)?
While the clinic is often very busy and it’s clear Dr Lipskind and the other doctors in the practice are booked back to back all day, their level of care is noticeable. I’m always met with kindness and compassion. I’m always asked if I have any questions and whenever I do he is more than willing to answer any question in detail until my husband and I are comfortable. Dr Lipskind’s team is extremely responsive and get back to me within minutes of submitting questions on the patient portal. What stood out most was our initial consultation. Dr Lipskind spent the full hour on the call with us detailing all of our options. He helped us understand exactly what may work best for us given our circumstances and made us feel comfortable moving forward with our choice to skip IUI and go straight to IVF.
Describe the protocols Shane Lipskind used in your cycles at Arizona Center for Fertility Studies (CCRM Network Clinic) and their degree of success.
We are currently in our first IVF cycle leading up to an egg retrieval. I am currently on a 375ml injection of Follistim each day + Ganirelix and ultimately PregNyl. Because of the follicle progression seen in my first scan, Dr Lipskind modified the course of treatment and started Ganirelix two days earlier. That is currently as far as we have come.
Describe your experience with the nursing staff at Arizona Center for Fertility Studies (CCRM Network Clinic).
I have seen a few of Dr Lipskind’s nurses during my visit and all have been great. They’re friendly, kind and very helpful. I’m most grateful for how quickly they answer my questions in the patient portal. It eases my anxiety and makes me feel heard.
Describe your experience with Arizona Center for Fertility Studies (CCRM Network Clinic).
They’re very efficient and keep patients moving in and out of the clinic quickly. They have also been very informative about upfront costs and what will be billed when. We talked about general timing of IVF basics but I would have loved to have seen a more detailed calendar (not specific to me but like a typical series of events) sooner than when I received my personalized calendar so I had a better idea of what I was in for.
Describe the costs associated with your care under Shane Lipskind at Arizona Center for Fertility Studies (CCRM Network Clinic).
We have minimal insurance coverage for fertility so our first round of treatment was $4k. This included a $1k deposit for the surgery center for hysteroscopy/egg retrieval. Luckily all our medications/injections were fully covered by insurance.
What specific things went wrong at Arizona Center for Fertility Studies (CCRM Network Clinic)?
  • Failed to consider drug intolerance
Describe the specific things that went wrong at Arizona Center for Fertility Studies (CCRM Network Clinic).
Super minor. I’m allergic to Ibuprofen and therefore stay away from NSAIDs but was told to take Aspiring as part of my pre-retrieval regimen. I wasn’t worried or offended by this. Just thought it would be seen in my chart.

He always spoke to me like we were friends and I appreciated that, because I was always so nervous and humor helped the situation. He performed every single procedure and I saw him for every visit, even if it was a quick ultrasound. I loved that I knew I’d see him each time in case I had any questions, he’d always be there to answer. He would explain everything he was about to do prior to doing it and that eased my nerves every time. He never failed to explain things to me and took the time to answer all my questions.
The [Arizona Center for Fertility Studies] front desk staff was so incredibly kind, warm and welcoming. My only issue is the billing...Nursing staff was awesome. They were always so kind and gentle with me. I really appreciated their bedside manner in the room with Dr. Patel...Every time I met with Dr. Patel he was always so kind and made me laugh! I enjoyed his sense of humor and it made me more comfortable each time. He did have to ask me each time what my age was and if he’s seen me before (I couldn’t tell if he was joking or not) but I kindly reminded him briefly of my medical history to quickly loop him in. I understand he sees many individuals and couples daily!

It’s just unfortunate my body never wanted to respond properly and each procedure failed. One negative I didn’t like was that he let me pick my iui dates both times. I wish he would’ve told me which date he recommended versus letting me pick because now that they both failed I feel like if I would’ve picked the other date maybe they would’ve worked.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Ketan Patel at Arizona Center for Fertility Studies (CCRM Network Clinic)?
Don’t be offended if he asks you to remind him of your brief history each time you visit. Meet him with compassion, because he means well and is just very busy (which is a good problem to have)! Expect him to hit you with stats and facts and to not sugar coat anything. Go into your appt expecting to have a little laugh here and there and it will go more smoothly than a serious visit.

Describe your experience with Arizona Center for Fertility Studies (CCRM Network Clinic).
The front desk staff was so incredibly kind, warm and welcoming. My only issue is the billing. I had a cancelled iui cycle in which I prepaid $850 and they only credited me $200 back even though I only had an ultrasound.. that’s a very expensive ultrasound. Til this day they are saying I owe $600 for an iui and I already paid them $850 for it. Just weird billing errors. Or they’ll try to charge you the iui charge when you’re leaving your appointment and you have to remind them you already paid. You just need to have all your financial receipts ready and be prepared to advocate for yourself so you don’t get overcharged.
Describe the costs associated with your care under Ketan Patel at Arizona Center for Fertility Studies (CCRM Network Clinic).
I believe each iui was $850 and HSG and SHG were around $200-$350

Dr. Lipskind spend ample time with you and is empathetic when results don’t turn out as you hoped. He was also compassionate when discussing pre-existing conditions...Since all of my lab work has come back normal except for an autoimmune condition, he suggested we do three rounds of IUI. The first cycle we did a standard 50 mg of clomid for five days...That didn’t work so he doubled the amount of clomid to try to increase the number of follicles produced, explaining that if there were more than 2-3 follicles he would likely cancel for risk of multiples
[the Arizona Center nurses] are friendly and communicative. They also do a good job of responding to questions submitted through the portal...They are well organized and very receptive to phone calls. There tend to be quite a few receptionists working and yet sometimes it takes a while for them to get to you. They could be slightly friendlier, but overall they’re fine and I’ve had no real complaints...
How was your experience with Shane Lipskind at Arizona Center for Fertility Studies (CCRM Network Clinic)?

Since all of my lab work has come back normal except for an autoimmune condition, he suggested we do three rounds of IUI. The first cycle we did a standard 50 mg of clomid for five days. It resulted in one follicle and we did a trigger shot and IUI. That didn’t work so he doubled the amount of clomid to try to increase the number of follicles produced, explaining that if there were more than 2-3 follicles he would likely cancel for risk of multiples. At our first ultrasound it showed that I had numerous follicles and so he suggested I come back in a few days to see if they naturally reduced. They did and I have 1-2 dominant follicles so we proceeded with the IUI. It did not work and I decided to take a couple of months off to address my autoimmune disorder before attempting our final IUI.

The IUI procedure was around $850 for three ultrasounds, semen wash, and insemination. Clomid was very cheap, maybe $20-30 and the trigger shot was around $90. They estimated that it would cost around $1000 per IUI and it has been pretty much that.

My medical history is complicated, but they took the time to collect every detail, and got it right! Dr. Lipskind was the same. He took the time to listen to our concerns, and to explain his thoughts. He was very nice in his manner, but straightforward with his opinions about treatment...I appreciated his willingness to take into account my entire history and create a plan that best fit my body and treatment needs
I felt well taken care of [by Arizona Center for Fertility Studies], even though my treatment was on hold. My nurse called to checkin on us more than once. We were able to continue lab testing by mail as to avoid any delays, and my medications I needed were already called in before I thought to ask. They even called to remind my spouse to send a test back. Great communication!
How was your experience with Shane Lipskind at Arizona Center for Fertility Studies (CCRM Network Clinic)?
I was impressed by his knowledge of the newest treatments and his skill. I appreciated his willingness to take into account my entire history and create a plan that best fit my body and treatment needs. He’s gentle in his manner, but clear on what he’s saying. Answered all of my questions, and took time to explain things. Most importantly, each visit he was very reassuring - that we are going to work together to create a healthy baby!!!

Dr. Lipskind was the same. He took the time to listen to our concerns, and to explain his thoughts. He was very nice in his manner, but straightforward with his opinions about treatment. Which for us, was perfect. I feel like my treatment is NOT a one-size-fits-all like with other doctors in the past, but was designed with our specific needs in mind to get the best results for us.

Not including medications my treatment will be roughly $10k. This was broken up into two payments. Medications were through the pharmacy. I was given information through the clinic to apply for a discount program for medications, and I was able to get 70% off stimulation medications.
Describe Shane Lipskind's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Arizona Center for Fertility Studies (CCRM Network Clinic).
Yes, I’m my case one because of my age. He prefers eSET.

Dr. Lipskind was very kind and caring during the 2 times we met with him...we had an online consultation where he reviewed our past medical history and discussed treatment moving forward...He was very thorough and wanted to make sure that my diagnosis of PCOS was accurate...He reviewed all our medical history and told us frankly that he would only recommend IUI for up to 3 months before recommending IVF
[The staff at Arizona Center for Fertility Studies] were very helpful with the vitamin prescriptions...have called to check on me and remind me to call when my next cycle begins to check on the status of fertility treatments...the consultation fee. It is $300, which is then applied to your account to use on further treatments...They have an online portal which makes completing new patient paperwork very easy and I was given guidance on how to access prescriptions
How was your experience with Shane Lipskind at Arizona Center for Fertility Studies (CCRM Network Clinic)?
Dr. Lipskind was very thorough during our consultation. He reviewed all our medical history and told us frankly that he would only recommend IUI for up to 3 months before recommending IVF. I felt like his main goal was to help me get pregnant. He was very up front that my current diagnosis of PCOS might not be accurate. Dr. Lipskind wants more testing to determine if there are any other factors contributing to me not being able to get pregnant. Right after our consultation, COVID-19 hit and the ASRM recommended postponing all fertility treatments. We have not been able to be back to see him yet, but I am confident that once we can, I will have further testing to determine the best course of action.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Shane Lipskind at Arizona Center for Fertility Studies (CCRM Network Clinic)?
The only advice I can think of is to be prepared with questions for your consultation. My husband and I thought of a lot of questions, however, Dr. Lipskind answered many of them before we even asked.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Shane Lipskind at Arizona Center for Fertility Studies (CCRM Network Clinic)?
Dr. Lipskind was very kind and caring during the 2 times we met with him. We first met him at a Fertility 101 happy hour class and he spent the first 15 minutes speaking with me and my husband. He took the time to get to know us and our situation before the class began. Then we had an online consultation where he reviewed our past medical history and discussed treatment moving forward. He was very thorough and wanted to make sure that my diagnosis of PCOS was accurate. He recommended a treatment plan as well as further testing in order to provide us with the most accurate information.
Describe the protocols Shane Lipskind used in your cycles at Arizona Center for Fertility Studies (CCRM Network Clinic) and their degree of success.
We have not had treatment with Dr. Lipskind yet. I did 3 cycles of letrozole (2.5 mg the 1st cycle and 5mg the next 2) along with ovidrel trigger shot with my OBGYN before seeking out Dr. Lipskind.
Describe your experience with the nursing staff at Arizona Center for Fertility Studies (CCRM Network Clinic).
I have only spoken to the nursing staff over the phone due to the pandemic. They were very helpful with the vitamin prescriptions that Dr. Lipskind recommended as well as answering any questions I have had. They also have called to check on me and remind me to call when my next cycle begins to check on the status of fertility treatments.
Describe your experience with Arizona Center for Fertility Studies (CCRM Network Clinic).
While I have not been able to go to the clinic yet, everyone I have spoken to has been extremely helpful and compassionate about the current situation. They have an online portal which makes completing new patient paperwork very easy and I was given guidance on how to access prescriptions.
Describe the costs associated with your care under Shane Lipskind at Arizona Center for Fertility Studies (CCRM Network Clinic).
The only cost so far with Dr. Lipskind has been the consultation fee. It is $300, which is then applied to your account to use on further treatments.

He [Dr. Lipskind] spends as much time with you as you need. He thoroughly explained everything to me (sometimes several times)...We were with another fertility doctor and did everything but IVF with no success or answers. When we saw Dr Lipskind he diagnosed me with endometriosis and a uterine septum. We did surgery to correct the septum. We did IVF, I had 2 tested frozen embryos. We did our first transfer and are now pregnant for the first time ever!! Dr Lipskind made my husband and I feel comfortable and listened to throughout the entire process. He is an awesome doctor but also has great bedside manner, I find that rare.
The nurses [at Arizona Center for Fertility Studies] and Dr Lipskind are amazing. Everyone in that office knows their stuff and are incredibly friendly too. The office is a little outdated but that doesn’t really bother me, I’m not seeing them for the decor!...All of the nurses are kind and knowledgeable. They have gone above and beyond for me. They treat me like a friend every time I go in to the office. I can call or email with anything and they always get back to me quickly.

We were lucky, our insurance covers part of our treatment. We have not completed the process yet, we are pregnant but only 5 weeks. I think it will end up being close to 15k. But I also had to have uterine surgery that added to the cost

We only had 2 embryos and had never been pregnant so we wanted to do 1 embryo at a time.

Success w/ Doc Too early to know
He [Dr. Lipskind] was on time for our appointment and reviewed our paperwork in detail with each of us (my husband and I). He never seemed rushed. He was careful to explain everything in simple terms with support and compassion. He was optimistic and hopeful for us, which I appreciated. He explained a few options in detail about what the procedures and process entailed, gave us his thoughts on next steps and WHY, and seemed very open to either direction and didn't push us.
[Costs at Arizona Center for Fertility Studies are] Approx $950 for an IUI with Clomid or Femara (including ultrasounds, sperm prep and insemination) but not including cost of drugs)...Every member of the staff I talked to on the phone, emailed, and saw in person at the clinic was so kind and compassionate. A welcome relief from the typical staff who's curt, hurried and insensitive. They were communicative, proactive, and organized, and they did it all with a smile on their faces! The literal only drawback I've experienced so far: the office is dated and the waiting room a bit dark. The facility could use a facelift.
How was your experience with Shane Lipskind at Arizona Center for Fertility Studies (CCRM Network Clinic)?
We've so far only seen Dr. Lipskind once for our initial consultation. He came as a personal recommendation from my OB and I felt very confident in her trust in him. He was on time for our appointment and reviewed our paperwork in detail with each of us (my husband and I). I appreciated his suggestion to take a more conservative approach to see how my body responds to the fertility medications before jumping straight in to IVF. I felt heard, cared for and ready to move forward with confidence.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Shane Lipskind at Arizona Center for Fertility Studies (CCRM Network Clinic)?
Do your own research ahead of time. Come to the appointment informed about different treatment options. I realized later that he talked about an IUI, which I knew all about, but didn't fully explain what that was to my husband. I filled him in after. :)
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Shane Lipskind at Arizona Center for Fertility Studies (CCRM Network Clinic)?
Dr. Lipskind took the time to answer all of our questions, present all of our options, suggest his thoughts on course of action, but was completely open to what WE wanted to do next. He is kind, thoughtful and I didn't feel like he jumped to any generic treatment, I felt like he took all our factors into consideration and made treatment suggestions based on us as human, not as numbers, or jumping straight to IVF. He did not seem rushed to get the appointment over with. The staff at his office are amazing as well. So kind, caring and thoughtful.
Describe the protocols Shane Lipskind used in your cycles at Arizona Center for Fertility Studies (CCRM Network Clinic) and their degree of success.
We've only just started, this is our first cycle with Dr. Lipskind. Our treatment protocol will be to start with at least one IUI cycle. While I assumed we'd jump straight into IVG, the rationale to start with IUI is to see how my ovaries respond initially to the fertility drugs. That will give us a better course of action before we move to IVF, if necessary. We will know on day 3 after ultrasound which drugs and dosage. His initial thought is likely Clomid.
Describe your experience with the nursing staff at Arizona Center for Fertility Studies (CCRM Network Clinic).
I only saw one nurse but she was wonderful and kind.

The doctor [Lipskind] is an excellent communicator and caring. He explains all the procedures and always supports us in all the choices we make. He is patient and explains everything so that we fully understand what is going on giving us our best chances to conceive. ... The doctor suggested we have an HSG procedure that was done at an imaging location. This was done to check for any blockages or issues with the uterus and tubes. Lastly we had a series of ultrasounds done in office to check the follicle count and growth before using a trigger shot to trigger ovulation and attempt the IUI.
They [Arizona Center for Fertility Studies] are often busy but will work with you on scheduling and will always maintain great communication though the whole process. As a new patient you will be charged a consultation fee but that is then credited to your account to use later on other procedures. ... The nurses were very kind and professional. They were understanding and knowledgeable. They were always smiling and remembered us when we came in.

Describe the protocols Shane Lipskind used in your cycles at Arizona Center for Fertility Studies (CCRM Network Clinic) and their degree of success.
We had an IUI with out first child and used a natural cycle. Even though we did not use fertility medication we still used vitamins and supplements that the doctor prescribes (prenatal, vitamin D, COQ10 and baby aspirin). These were used to help maintain a healthy chance for pregnancy. We also had routine bloodwork for both myself and spouse in order to rule out any illness or other concerns. The doctor suggested we have an HSG procedure that was done at an imaging location. This was done to check for any blockages or issues with the uterus and tubes. [Dr. Nemiro] was kind, honest, and committed to success and safety!...frank even when it was hard and helped me make decisions that aligned with my values and not just my heart...always spent the necessary time with me...often was running behind, due to the time he spent with other patients. That was difficult at times, but I also appreciated and benefitted from his extra time...He let me lead and do what I felt would be best for me. We tried multiple protocols.
Dr. Nemiro and his staff [at Arizona Center for Fertility Studies] were always kind...knew me by name, asked about my life, worked with me when I needed help, and provided support when I experienced pregnancy loss. I always felt cared for and like I mattered to them...The clinic was beautiful...always clean, but didn't feel sterile. The rooms are comfortable and homey. I like that they use cloth sheets to cover up, most rooms have a private bathroom. The clinic could be kind of a maze and hard to navigate. Clinic staff were always kind and helpful, and totally willing to work with you when you need help.

As an IUI patient, I never saw Dr. Nemiro. I saw him twice and once was for the consultation. He was not involved in my care aside from approving medication.... He was not open to changing my dosage throughout a cycle (so if you're on 150 Follistim, you will stay on 150 Follistim, it won't increase or decrease according to your response). I felt like he was not flexible and treated me according to a pre-set formula of how a woman my age should respond, rather than recognizing I wasn't responding (6 times) and my treatment was never aggressive enough due to my age and high AFC.
There is a difference in cost for IUI cycles with injectibles and IUIs with oral medication [at AZ Center for Fertility]. The IUI itself is only $248 regardless of injectibles or oral meds. Sperm thaw is $100. Sperm wash is $256. Monitoring for oral med cycles is $327. Monitoring for injectible cycles is $540. So IUI costs can range from $931-$1144, which doesn't include the cost of medications.
How was your experience with Jay Nemiro (retired) at Arizona Center for Fertility Studies (CCRM Network Clinic)?
Dr. Nemiro is very intelligent, but he was not at all involved in my treatment aside from assigning medications.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Jay Nemiro (retired) at Arizona Center for Fertility Studies (CCRM Network Clinic)?
Ask questions and demand to see him if you're doing IUIs. You can get a lot of valuable information from him and explanations, but you have to call him yourself or ask to see him specifically, otherwise you will likely never see him. He is a nice man, but the lack of flexibility in medications and lack of communication was not for me.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Jay Nemiro (retired) at Arizona Center for Fertility Studies (CCRM Network Clinic)?
As an IUI patient, I never saw Dr. Nemiro. I saw him twice and once was for the consultation. He was not involved in my care aside from approving medication. I felt like a number since I was hardly ever spoken to by my doctor. However, his RN, Jennifer, was lovely and very caring. She was understanding and positive about our situation.
Describe the protocols Jay Nemiro (retired) used in your cycles at Arizona Center for Fertility Studies (CCRM Network Clinic) and their degree of success.
I started with 50 mg Clomid with IUI, then second cycle 5 mg Femara with IUI, then 5 mg Femara with home insemination, then 5 mg Femara with IUI, then 75IU Follistim and finally 150IU Follistim.
Describe your experience with your nurse at Arizona Center for Fertility Studies (CCRM Network Clinic). (Assigned nurse: Jennifer)
Jennifer has been through infertility herself and therefore was very compassionate and caring. She is a highly detailed person, which I very much appreciated about her. I wouldn't have wanted to go through treatment with anyone else. While I was disappointment in Dr. Nemiro's lack of involvement, I very much trusted and appreciated Jennifer.
Describe your experience with Arizona Center for Fertility Studies (CCRM Network Clinic).
This clinic can be a bit disorganized at times and details can slip through the cracks. Scheduling is very easy and quick, I never had a problem getting an appointment when I needed it. Everyone seems to care and want you to be successful, as a whole, I liked the clinic, but I'm moving onto another doctor that I think might be a better fit for me.

Describe the specific things that went wrong at Arizona Center for Fertility Studies (CCRM Network Clinic).
Our IUIs were often running late (and this clinic does IUIs later than most clinics, at 42-43 hours. Often my IUIs were scheduled for 42 hours, but didn't occur until 43-44 hours. I question the quality of some of the equipment at this clinic, one room has updated equipment and the rest of the rooms are a bit lacking in this area and seem to be stuck in the 1980s. Due to the continuous low counts using donor sperm from multiple donors and from multiple clinics, I question equipment quality and/or staff that are responsible for sperm washing. We were initially told that IUIs were much cheaper than they actually ended up being since they failed to include the costs for monitoring, along with sperm thaw and sperm wash (thaw and wash are something that many clinics do not charge for in this area).

I like how analytical Dr Nemiro is. He really give me the realistic numbers when we were trying to decide what was next for us. His expert advise is what we need to make an educated decision and not waste our time, emotions or our money.... for the egg retrieval we did an ovarian stimulation protocol with viagra suppositories 25 mp 4x day for 2 wks, growth hormone 1/2 cc once day for 2 wks, luprion 20 units for 10 days and then 10 units for 2 wks, estrace 2mg tab once a day for 2 wks, cetrotide 50 units for 2 wks & FSH 10 vials once a day for 2 wks. I also had to take cabergoline .5 mg after the retrieval & more luprion 20 units once a day until my next mense. This was because my estrogen levels were at 6400 after the retrieval.
All of the nursing staff [at AZ Center for Fertility Studies-Scottsdale] showed me compassion, from my primary nurse, financial coordinator to the front desk staff. They are all wonderful.... The office layout can be confusing but the result is a private space and keeps it from feeling clinical or cold. The office does not feel like it is sterile and cold as other clinics do. Makes it feel almost homey.

What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Jay Nemiro (retired) at Arizona Center for Fertility Studies (CCRM Network Clinic)?
Do your own research and ask questions. As educated and wonderful a doctor may be, asking smart questions will always be in your best interest. It also allows the Doctor or staff to help you better when they know what you are thinking.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Jay Nemiro (retired) at Arizona Center for Fertility Studies (CCRM Network Clinic)?
The staff is amazing and always available by phone or email with question. Dr. Nemiro spent several evenings on phone calls with me to answer all of my questions and give me hope.
Describe the protocols Jay Nemiro (retired) used in your cycles at Arizona Center for Fertility Studies (CCRM Network Clinic) and their degree of success.
I can't recall the protocols used for my IUIs other than that the first one only one vial was used for my injections and the second we used two vials per injection. for the egg retrieval we did an ovarian stimulation protocol with viagra suppositories 25 mp 4x day for 2 wks, growth hormone 1/2 cc once day for 2 wks, luprion 20 units for 10 days and then 10 units for 2 wks, estrace 2mg tab once a day for 2 wks, cetrotide 50 units for 2 wks & FSH 10 vials once a day for 2 wks. IUI's were around $1500 to $2000. The egg retrieval was about $10,000 or so which includes a 20% discount on provider services because our infertility was due to my husband's cancer treatments. medications were an additional $5,00 to $6,000.

I don't know his approach just yet but I do know that he has advised that we transfer no more than two embryos.

He [Dr. Nemiro] is extremely kind and cared about me and spent tons of time w me I like him very much but his office doesn’t run smoothly and this resulted in several serious oversights/mistakes that caused me to have to repeat the transfer.... He offered a discount after I politely confronted about some mistakes they’d made on my cycle and He offered a 20% discount but didn’t clarify that was only a discount on his portion of the bill which was, I felt, deceptive and I may not have cycled again w them had I know the discount would be next to nothing.
Strengths: willing to work with tough cases. Weaknesses: not a very organized office and too few people on staff and too many involved in each cases there should be one nurse to go to. The clinic [Arizona Center for Fertility Studies] is very dated inside in some areas and old can sometimes mean hard to clean so it reflects badly on their clinic.... My nurse was the donor coordinator and she’s very good and compassionate and doesn’t miss much. Loved her.
How was your experience with Jay Nemiro (retired) at Arizona Center for Fertility Studies (CCRM Network Clinic)?
It’s very crazy there and they follow old processes for paperwork and such that has too many fingers in the pot and things get missed. He offered a discount after I politely confronted about some mistakes they’d made on my cycle and He offered a 20% discount but didn’t clarify that was only a discount on his portion of the bill which was, I felt, deceptive and I may not have cycled again w them had I know the discount would be next to nothing. After spending almost 100k with them, that discount should have been more fair.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Jay Nemiro (retired) at Arizona Center for Fertility Studies (CCRM Network Clinic)?
I would look twice and consider practices because some things are very expensive there and consider an office w more nurses to handle cases and one w more fair transfer pricing.

He is extremely kind and cared about me and spent tons of time w me I like him very much but his office doesn’t run smoothly and this resulted in several serious oversights/mistakes that caused me to have to repeat the transfer. And his transfers are Much too expensive compared with much of the industry these days.

For transfer, I had to have prednisone perhaps due to all my prior losses and was supposed to have intralipids also but couldn’t get them wher I lived. I think many things he does (treating for immune) is excellent.

The clinic is very dated inside in some areas and old can sometimes mean hard to clean so it reflects badly on their clinic. People laugh about the main doc being too cheap to update it and that’s not good. It doesn’t have to be posh but 1980’s decor in some of the areas does not instill state of the art care in ones mind. It just doesn’t. L
Describe the costs associated with your care under Jay Nemiro (retired) at Arizona Center for Fertility Studies (CCRM Network Clinic).
Regular cycles for retrieval and egg banking/freezing we’re 11k a cycle. When everything was fertilized on the last cycle, it was probably around 15K. Donor cycle was very expensive. PGS is reasonable there at $2000,00 for up to 8 embryos, but transfers of any embryos are $4,400 which I found to be very very high.
Describe Jay Nemiro (retired)'s approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Arizona Center for Fertility Studies (CCRM Network Clinic).
My doctor is progressive on this - he believes over say 43 & up the incidence of twins is low so why not put two in. I put two in both times and by the 2nd transfer, one did stick so it supported his theory.

They mixed me up w someone else and changed my protocol to match that other person’s history I believe and denied me a drug I needed for my transfer based on false info. I had a CP. That may have contributed to the CP. They also missed a small procedure I needed to have done for the 1st transfer and that probably didn’t help either. They just flat-out forgot to tell me to get I done. It went better for the 2ns transfer...

I saw Dr Nemiro maybe twice throughout the many IUI’s I did with the practice. He has a canned speech he gives everyone and pushes for high tech procedures. He runs very late and the waiting room is packed...If you are ready to jump straight to IVF then he may be the Dr for you...He put me on oral meds for 2 cycles and then to daily HMG injections. The thinking being more eggs giving higher chance of pregnancy. I produced 4 follicles each time and did IUI’s.
The nurses [at Arizone Center for Fertility Studies] ran the show. Gina was very nice and caring. Unfortunately the clinic was missing my ovulation each time so the IUI’s were a waste of time and money. The clinic makes you come in on cycle day 1-3 for a baseline US and then every other day and still this mistake was made. The amount of time put in to getting so many ultrasounds was very difficult on me. Michelle the financial coordinator was very brash and came across as uncaring. They will not work with your insurance at all for any testing.

He [Dr. Lipskind] was so friendly and truly cared about us. I personally saw him at all of my appointments unless he was out of town. One time when he was out of town, he spoke with me on the phone after I checked in with the nurse. Not only is he a wonderful doctor, but he truly cared about us...He personally called with test results if we received bad news, but always had a plan in place on something we could do differently the next time. He truly cared about how I was feeling and understood how emotionally difficult the infertility process can be...
Everyone [at Az Ctr for Fert Studies] was so friendly from the front office staff to the financial consultant to the embryologists to the doctors. I felt like they were our cheerleaders. They were for us when we received good news and were compassionate when we received bad news. I actually miss going into the office to see everyone...I worked with a few nurses in the office, but primarily with Jennifer. All of them were fantastic. They were so compassionate and caring. If I called or emailed with a question they made sure to get back to me the same day...
How was your experience with Shane Lipskind at Arizona Center for Fertility Studies (CCRM Network Clinic)?
I had a wonderful experience with Dr. Lipskind. My specific problem had to do with thin uterine lining. Shane tried everything to try and thicken up my lining. We had a lot of setbacks, but he worked so hard to try and find a solution so that we could do an embryo transfer. He called clinics all over the country and developed a protocol that ended up working for me. We got pregnant on our first transfer. My husband and I could not have been happier with Shane. He was so friendly and truly cared about us. I personally saw him at all of my appointments unless he was out of town. One time when he was out of town, he spoke with me on the phone after I checked in with the nurse. Not only is he a wonderful doctor, but he truly cared about us.

We tried a few different protocols, but the one that worked was a Lupron prep cycle with heparin, Trentnal (to try and boost blood flow for lining) and estrogen patches.

Dr. Lipskind suggested two embryos to transfer to get us the success rate we needed and it worked for us...He was the only doctor I have encountered that spoke to us as people and not just another number. We really appreciated this attentiveness. When I was pregnant and had questions, he still was kind and patient to answer them. First cycle the eggs were frozen and during second cycle the eggs were fertilized and genetically tested [at Arizona Center for Fertility Studies]...did a infusion at the lab that treated me for immunodeficiency...They [nurses] were wonderful. He is an excellent doctor. We love Dr. Lipskind and he was so great with us especially when fertility issues can be difficult especially when you are desperately trying to conceive. For our free second opinion Dr. Lipskind was kind to go over my previous medical chart and help me understand the reasons for our difficulty for conceiving. He was very patient and answered my questions. I went to this appointment alone. He allowed me to bring my husband for the second appointment so that my husband. He was kind to go over the information with my husband and this lead us to making our decision to stick with Dr. Lipskind. He was the only doctor I have encountered that spoke to us as people and not just another number. We really appreciated this attentiveness. When I was pregnant and had questions, he still was kind and patient to answer them. I will never forgot his kindness and patience with us during our fertility journey. Describe the protocols Shane Lipskind used in your cycles at Arizona Center for Fertility Studies (CCRM Network Clinic) and their degree of success.
We did two egg retrievals as I was borderline for having enough eggs for genetic testing. We did lupron for 14 days which quiet my whole system down. I was also on birth control to help with the cycle to fit into the retrieval cycle. The fertility drugs I was taking was FSH (10 vials mixed with one water vial for about 12 to 14 days) and Centurion one vial mixed but split into two 50 ml doses on a 29 gauge needle. The doctor and nurse monitored the cycle through ultrasound and assessed when the eggs were ready to be retrieved. I was around a 12 day cycle for retrieval. First cycle the eggs were frozen and during second cycle the eggs were fertilized and genetically tested. I then had a normal period and waited for my next cycle to do the lupron again. I did lupron for 40 days. Then we did the histogram to check my uterus to make sure no obstruction before transfer. I had some small polyps that Dr Lipskind removed. Once that was done, I moved onto Heparin at 20 days into the cycle. I did labs one time and then agian 2 days later to make sure the dose was right. If not I had to readjust and redo labs. I then did a infusion at the lab that treated me for immunodeficiency. I then started my progesterone oil shots about 2 or 3 days before my transfer. I had to continue Heprin, lupron and progesterone shots twice a day for the next 14 days along with Estrace and another drug until pregnancy test. I also had to take a lot of vitamins during my whole IVF journey. This was the most aggressive IVF plan I have gone through.

He [Dr. Jay Nemiro] met with me personally to go over game plan before each IVF, listened to my concerns, and was candid about why he recommended what he did recommend. He even met with me, free of charge, in between children, for a question I had. He stayed in the office to call le with test results as late as 7 pm one Friday night, so I wouldn't have to worry all weekend. I always felt like I was a person (rather than a number or a statistic) and that we were a team with a stake in the fight to get me pregnant.
Strengths [of Arizona Center for Fertility Studies], caring staff, tho some seemed a bit overworked, they always made sure I was taken care of....He [Dr. Jay Nemiro] is very compassionate and direct. I always felt respected, even though I obviously did not have his level of training and experience. I always felt he very strongly wanted to get me pregnant . (& then he did. And did again).

He [Dr Jay Nemiro] is very direct, and will lay all his cards out on the table. It can be a bit of a shock at first, but he will fight to get you pregnant...I felt listened to, respected, and like he was personally rooting for me. Prior to getting pregnant, I needed surgery on my uterus and he called results at 6:30 on a Friday night so I wouldn't have to be in limbo all weekend. He spoke to a friend of mine who liveswho lives across the country over the phone who had suffered RPL and was near giving up. (She's a Mom now, too)!
My phone calls [at Arizona Center for Fertility Studies] were returned in a timely manner (not the case at my first clinic). All my options were discussed beforehand. When I had concerns (which I think happen most of the time doing ART), I knew I could get thru to Dr. Jay and have satisfaction of an answer. Strengths: they fought with me to get me pregnant and most of the staff I came in contact with seemed to care about my getting a successful outcome. Weakness: sometimes a bit of a support staff turnover. Not really anything that effected my getting pregnant, tho.
How was your experience with Jay Nemiro (retired) at Arizona Center for Fertility Studies (CCRM Network Clinic)?
I feel like he is very honest and candid, along with very knowledgeable. My first RE was apathetic and dishonest and I was not given the benefit of someone fighting to get me pregnant. I felt listened to, respected, and like he was personally rooting for me. What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Jay Nemiro (retired) at Arizona Center for Fertility Studies (CCRM Network Clinic)?
He is very direct, and will lay all his cards out on the table. It can be a bit of anshock at first, but he will fight to get you pregnant.

Describe your experience with your nurse at Arizona Center for Fertility Studies (CCRM Network Clinic). (Assigned nurse: Gina)
Gina is amazing! She is compassionate and caring. She gave up her lunch one day to sit with me when I was scared and alone for a procedure and talked about her pets so I wouldn't be alone. I have poured my heart out to her and she listened and cared. Jenn is very compassionate and caring and sweet.

Dr. Lipskind reversed my tubal ligation back in March of 2015. I am now holding our newest addition, a healthy 10 week old little boy. He helped us through the entire journey and made us feel so comfortable. Even when we miscarried back in 2016 he was a great support. I tell everyone I know that is looking for a fertility doctor to go see him. He gave us what we thought we could never have...another baby. He is amazing.
They [AZ center for Fertility Studies] do a great job at making the journey as easy as possible. Great place and great staff. I did not experience anything I would want to be changed. I felt like everything was open, honest, and up front..... We had a reversal so it was one surgery. He did walk us through every step of the procedure beforehand and on the day of surgery. After I got pregnant he monitored me until I was 12 weeks to make sure the baby was where is needed to be.

Jay [Dr. Nemiro] was very personal and talked and treated us like we were friends. He was compassionate and friendly...missed a large cyst during an ultrasound resulting in the okay moving forward with a cycle of injections. This created the cyst to grow substantially larger requiring us to cancel the cycle...His treatments however were to the book. He did what worked for most people...explained everything to us. He was very late to most appointments but made up for it as he would spend as much time with you during the appointment as needed. Never felt rushed with him.
The clinic staff [at Arizona Center for Fertility Studies] was the best I have ever had. They know each and every patient and made them feel welcomed. The clinic is very outdated and they use paper and pen for documentation which sometimes caused a delay in certain stuff...HMG and HCG for timed intercourse, heparin 2x a day for MTHFR, prednisone (steroid), and intralipid infusion...The nurses and office staff were the best. I felt like they were family. They greeted my husband and I by first name when we came. They showed compassion and were always a phone call away if we needed anything.

Dr Lipskind was very compassionate and personable during our care. He was quick to return my calls and emails when we weren’t in the office. When we were in the office, he took all the time we needed to go over everything each time we had an appointment. ... We did a very high dose of menopur because Dr Lipskind wanted to approach our cycle more aggressively.
We loved this clinic for the people and their work! The office itself is very old though and doesn’t have a super warm/inviting feel to it. I wish they had more upgraded rooms/equipment/etc The clinic seemed to function really well together though. Everyone knew their role and got done what was needed! ... ACFS does price matching for other local clinics. Our IVF cycle was $8500.

He [Dr. Lipskind] was very personable and very thorough. He made every effort to do as much as possible with my long travel to his office. He coordinated outside lab work and HSG testing to be on the same day as my appointments with him. He went above and beyond what he had to do. When it was time to discuss our results he spent as much time as we needed and answered every question. He did not rush or make us feel rushed and uncomfortable.
The clinic [Arizona Center for Fertility Studies] to me did not have any weaknesses. They were all very personable and knowledgeable. They had answers for any questions that we had which was very comforting. They followed up phone calls and emails the same business day which is also a huge plus...I dealt more with the Dr himself during my visits but what interaction I did have with the staff they were all nice and professional

with the results he got of my HSG testing he wanted to do a surgery before we started the fertility treatments. At the time I did not have insurance and it was going to be around another $40,000 due to it needing to be done at a hospital and not in office. Due to financial reasons, this is the only reason we have not proceeded.

Dr Lipskind is super amicable. Very smart and excellent at what he does. He was very very throrough- he noticed things my previous dr missed. I am forever grateful to him. He is very warm and while fertility treatment can be isolating he makes you feel very comfortable and connected.... I could feel that he and his staff were emotionally connected with our achieving pregnancy. I had a scare (subchorionic hemotoba) and I felt totally connected and supported and then relieved after he did an immediate ultrasound and diagnosed the hematoma.
It [Arizona Center for Fertility Studies-Scottsdale] looks pretty 80’s. But I’d much rather have up to date equipment and drs at the top of their field and give that money to their pocket as opposed to new decor and a higher rent rate which adds nothing to the level of care or success rate.... We were advised on the new recommendation of transferring one- and given the option to do up to two but this was based on our desire to have a large family- and our ability and willingness to care for multiples.

Dr Nemiro is very responsive to any questions or concerns you might have. He’s upfront and honest but very good bedside mannered. He really does care about getting you the ultimate outcome which is a baby...Expect upfront honesty from Dr Nemiro. but not in a mean way :) he’s great!... incredibly nice and always took the time to listen and answer any question I ever had as well as very honest.
The only weakness [at Arizona Center for Fertility Studies] I can think of if I have to pick one is maybe oldish machines but they do the job so no complaints really. A clinic does not have to have top notch brand new equipment to do a good job. Great clinic, great staff, GREAT Dr! :)...They [nurses] are awesome, funny, and that you like a friend. They answer all questions either via phone or email by the end of each day if not sooner.
