Attention to Detail

Attention to detail is on a 1 - 10 scale, and is scored based on the rate, and severity, of errors committed by the clinic according to the patients.

For example, a severe error might be failing to inform a patient of critical information, while a small error might be failing to call a patient with results.

CDC Success Rates

This is the most recent data from the CDC. The CDC cautions that it should not be used to compare doctors and clinics. This data represents the outcomes of IVF cycles when using a person's own eggs.

For more information please see our FAQs.

Where you see a “?” on the chart, a clinic has done fewer than 20 cycles in this category and age range, so the CDC says showing percentages from this small data set would be misleading and unreliable.

Success w/ Doc Too early to know
I feel that under Dr. Fay's care, they [Carle staff] get to know you & know what works best for you. ... When I first came to Dr. Fay, I met with my other doctor & then with her. She was very personable & laid everything out for us. She was willing to answer any questions that we had & she is always available for questions. She got to know my husband & I during that time.
I feel that this is a great clinic [Carle]. The staff is very friendly. It is a clean facility. I would recommend this place to anyone. They are willing to open up early & stay late. I think that I would tell a new patient that they are in great hands at this facility. ... I like that Teresa [nurse] can be straight forward though. If you ask her something & you want a direct answer, she is willing to do that. She is always in a good mood & she is very positive. I love that she is flexible.

Describe the protocols Nancy Fay (OB/GYN) used in your cycles at Carle OBGYN and their degree of success.
I first started out on Femara with a dosage of two 2.5 pills for 5 days. I also did the Ovidrel shot CD 13. This did the job that it needed to, but did not produce a pregnancy. Next cycle we did the same thing with Femara & Ovidrel, but added in IUI. I was growing good sized follicles, but no pregnancy. I am currently on my 3rd cycle of doing Femara, Ovidrel & IUI.
Describe your experience with your nurse at Carle OBGYN. (Assigned nurse: Teresa Majers)
Teresa Majers is amazing. I feel so blessed to have her as my primary person. She is very open & willing to answer any questions. I like that Teresa can be straight forward though. If you ask her something & you want a direct answer, she is willing to do that. She is always in a good mood & she is very positive. I love that she is flexible. She is willing to come in at 6:45, just to get patients an early appointment time.

Describe the costs associated with your care under Nancy Fay (OB/GYN) at Carle OBGYN.
With my insurance, the costs were rather low. I would say I spent around $100 - $200 per visit. That included sonogram & visit with the nurse/doctor.

She really takes the time to listen and investigate. I came to her having felt dismissed by my regular ob/gyn but felt heard by Dr. Fay, who confirmed that my suspicions were warranted. I also appreciate that she’s willing to be as aggressive with treatment as you want her to be. I truly believe she wants us to have a baby as much as we do...I always feel like I know what to expect. Questions are always answered thoroughly. I feel like my unique situation is being looked at as opposed to being treated like a number. She listens and responds with compassion and knowledge at every visit.
I love the nurses at the clinic [Carle]. They’re always so kind and compassionate. It truly starts to feel like a family there after awhile. It always feels like they’re rooting for our success and grieving our failures right along with us...They are fairly busy as a small department in a large clinic so be prepared for a wait to get an initial consult. Costs can be high, but it really depends on your insurance coverage. Check with your insurance to know what to expect. The clinic does provide an estimate of charges, which is helpful in making decisions.

What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Nancy Fay (OB/GYN) at Carle OBGYN?
Come prepared with questions to make the absolute most of your visit. She will take the time to listen and answer. She’s so knowledgeable so I’d certainly take advantage of the ability to pick her brain.

We tried a few cycles of letrozole to stimulate egg production and ovidrel to trigger ovulation. I believe letrozole was started at 5mg and was upped to 7.5 for a couple cycles. Egg production was fairly good. I was very tired on the 7.5mg dose though. After a few rounds of that, they added Follistim to further encourage egg production. I’ve only used Follistim for one cycle so I can’t be sure it’s the culprit, but I did have a horrible migraine the morning after my first dose. It did produce the best eggs we’ve had so far though. However, since that didn’t work and because of the side effects we were encouraged to try IUI next.

Success w/ Doc Too early to know
Dr. Fay seems very busy and is hard to schedule with and there are a few instances where our appointment was changed the day before we were set to see her. But when we finally did meet, she is a great doctor and explained everything she was doing during the procedure and surgery. I just wish her availability was better...Don't be afraid to schedule with Dr. Fay's PA's or nurses if Dr. Fay isn't available...
Each person at Carle that I interacted with was pleasant. I had to come in to different areas and locations of the hospital for different things and the only bad experience was my bloodwork. The first lab I went to couldn't to all the draws so I ended up going to the main hospital...The nurses are extremely helpful each time I need to call with a question...Don't be afraid to schedule with Dr. Fay's PA's or nurses if Dr. Fay isn't available...

I can tell Dr. Fay is extremely busy. She's very hard to schedule with and we had appointment times canceled or switched due to her availability. As we know, each month is crucial, so it's a big let down each time something needs to get pushed to the next month.
Describe the protocols Nancy Fay (OB/GYN) used in your cycles at Carle OBGYN and their degree of success.
I'm still at the early stage of treatments but I had a full range of blood work done, then a HSG, then surgery to remove irregular tissue in my uterus. Now that I'm healed, I'll start letrozole and have an ovulation shot in my next cycle.

We were advised toward ivf due to a tube blockage. We tried a cycle with femera and a trigger shot [with Dr. Fay]. It was unsuccessful. We were told to lose weight and for my husband to quit smokingto increase out chances. We both ibhave followed advice but are seeking another doctor for ivf...I had a good experience with Nancy as a surgeon but as a infertility doctor I found her to be less than hopefull for our prognosis. I was always treated with respect although at times I hoped for more guidance where our treatment was concerned. I was told to lose weight as a catch all for solving infertility. It was kind of offensive.
They [nurses at Carle] always communicated well and showed compassion...I wish this clinic felt more personal. She [Dr. Fay] is a very sweet and caring doctor. Didn’t worry about weight at all. Made me feel at ease!...I really loved being a patient of Dr. Fay and recommend her to everyone. She ran lots of tests and found a lot of issues-proceeded with time ovulation with trigger cycle and then endometriosis surgery along with hysteroscopy and HSG...She used letrozle-Femera for timed cycle with ovidrel for trigger. PIO for luteal phase support.
[Carle is] Really expensive. 1,000+ each ultrasound and timed cycles were crazy. They didn’t offer much help or advice...Pricey clinic because it’s based out of Carle Hospital. Self pay options are unreasonable! I wish there was more of a discount available. If you have coverage then of course it would be good!! I wish they had informed me how to obtain insurance in IL...They [nurses] were nice and prompt! All answer messages on time & send in script the same day.
