This is the most recent data from the CDC. The CDC cautions that it should not be used to compare doctors and clinics. This data represents the outcomes of IVF cycles when using a person's own eggs.
For more information please see our FAQs.
Where you see a “?” on the chart, a clinic has done fewer than 20 cycles in this category and age range, so the CDC says showing percentages from this small data set would be misleading and unreliable.
He [Dr. Bill Meyer] found out our insurance would cover most of our in-vitro and felt confident that this was the first step to making our dreams come true. Our in-vitro did not work out the way Dr Meyer and also my husband and I wanted. They retrieved about 5-6 eggs from me and with my husbands sperm were able to make 2 decent embryos...I immediately received a call from Dr. Meyer personally and he was so sweet. Encouraged us to not give up and to come back in a couple weeks to hear a new treatment plan he had for us. That gave me so much hope. We returned and he talked to me about embryo adoption. How was your experience with Bill Meyer at Carolina Conceptions?
My husband and I had a miscarriage thru natural conception in 2012, which led us to our doctor and that is when we found out that my husband had very low sperm count and I had low AMH (poor egg quality). We were referred to Carolina Conceptions. after hearing our devastating news we both felt like our dreams were shattered. Our very first consultation was with Dr. Meyer and I automatically felt comfortable and safe to share my feelings with him. He constantly assured us that we will have our miracle baby. He found out our insurance would cover most of our in-vitro and felt confident that this was the first step to making our dreams come true. Our in-vitro did not work out the way Dr Meyer and also my husband and I wanted. They retrieved about 5-6 eggs from me and with my husbands sperm were able to make 2 decent embryos. On the way for our transfer we received a call from Carolina Conceptions letting us know that those 2 embryos didn't make it. So our in-vitro was cancelled. I immediately received a call from Dr. Meyer personally and he was so sweet. Encouraged us to not give up and to come back in a couple weeks to hear a new treatment plan he had for us. That gave me so much hope. We returned and he talked to me about embryo adoption. Because of my low quality eggs and my husbands low sperm he felt like this would provide us with the best chances of pregnancy. So that is exactly what we did. They put 2 frozen embryos in and 1 beautiful embryo stuck which resulted in the birth of my sweet 3 year old daughter. Dr. Meyers showed so much compassionate thru all this and never stopped caring about our situation. Also Mrs. Terry Hunter who works there helped me so much as well. I have sent several of my friends to Carolina Conceptions and they have received there blessings as well. My little girl wants a baby brother or sister so bad so I hope to return to Carolina Conceptions for future treatment :)
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Bill Meyer at Carolina Conceptions?
I would let them know to trust there doctor and never ever give up on there dreams. Anything is possible and miracles happen everyday.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Bill Meyer at Carolina Conceptions?
Dr. Meyer was very compassionate towards my husband and I. I have low AMH (poor egg quality) and my husband has low sperm count so our first in-vitro cycle did not take. Dr. Meyer was amazing thru this process and was very honest with us. He devoted 110 percent of his time to assure us we will have our miracle baby. We then did embryo donation which resulted with us having a sweet baby girl. He took time out to answer all our questions and even followed up with me with an apology phone call after our in-vitro didn't work. He has great tactics and bed side manners and always assured me that he will use the best of his knowledge to make our dreams come true :)

Describe Bill Meyer's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Carolina Conceptions.
I am thankful we transferred 2 embryos to better our chances for conception
Dr. Meyer was knowledgeable and blunt, which is why I asked for him to be our doctor. I saw just about every doctor at the clinic and he is not the most warm and fuzzy person there, but I completely trusted his medical advice and I would choose him again in a heartbeat. Great communicator - responded to emails in minutes...exactly what I expected after reading reviews...
Strengths [at Carolina Conceptions] are location and patient volume - I felt like I was in good hands because they were so experienced. The only weakness I can think of is the fact they close at 4pm - one day I missed an important call while at work and couldn’t get our results until the next day......With military discount, our IVF cycle with PGT-A, medications and visits added up to be approximately $16-18K....

Describe the specific things that went wrong at Carolina Conceptions.
At one early appointment there was some confusion about whether I had already had my saline ultrasound (I had, but it had been some time prior and with a different doctor). The nurse caught it and figured it out before I even had to speak up, though.
Dr. Meyer always took time to answer my questions and explain things to me. He was always available by email - no matter the time of day, and was quick to respond. He never lost patience with all of my questions and worries!...was very direct with me (which I appreciate!) and spoke with me like I was a person, and not a number. I felt that he was very personable, understanding what I was going through and understanding where I was coming from, and took time with me. He was always available and very patient. In the end, I trusted him to do my transfer only as he was so dedicated and optimistic. He continually told me not to worry and I felt comfortable and at ease with him.
All of the nursing staff [at Carolina Conceptions] was excellent. In particular, Dr. Meyer's nurse Terry was extremely good. I trusted her and felt comfortable with her. She always took time to answer questions and ensure I understood my treatment...Extremely friendly and clean clinic. Everyone is always smiling and happy to see you. Felt at ease the entire time and always felt that everyone was working hard towards the same goal, to get your pregnant. Really appreciate all of the front office staff, financial team, nurses, and doctors.

I wish I had seen him [Dr. Meyer] more, I saw him for a rushed consult, then again for checking uterus shape, egg retrieval, and embryo transfer. But at the end of the day all I care about is results which I got. His bedside manner was really good during the procedures....I started with BAC pills to control my cycle, followed by 5 days of testosterone patches. Then I started Lupron for a few days and added the super expensive drug
Very personable staff [Carolina Conceptions], also great office very clean and well put together. I wish it was easier to get a real person on the phone though. It seemed like getting a call back after I was “done” So I could get records or a referral was near impossible....I had a hard time getting my files sent to my obstetrician after choosing a provider.... They were all wonderful and very skillful (only painless blood draw I’ve ever had).

I had a hard time getting my files sent to my obstetrician after choosing a provider.
Dr Meyer was very personal at every appointment. I felt like he truly wanted to help us conceive...I had conceived twice naturally but both ended in miscarriage. My first miscarriage was 15 weeks and Dr Meyer wanted to know why and did tests to confirm a uterine septum. My Regular OB did no further investigation after my miscarriage. De Meyer and Dr Couchman did the surgery to repair it. After that we still had trouble conceiving. We did three years of pills, injectables, a failed IUI, failed/ cancelled cycle for Invocell and 2 cancelled attempts for egg retrieval finally after medication changes the third attempt gave us the results we wanted with 15 eggs retrieved and 7 embryos. We did a frozen cycle after PGD and our first transfer was a success and now we have a beautiful healthy baby boy! Dr Meyer didn’t give up on us and every road block he came up with a detour! We’re super thankful for him and would (and have) recommend him to anyone with infertility.

I stated on 150ui Follistim. Second month the same only to find out they changed it to 225ui and no one told me. We talked and went over the entire process and what she recommended for me. She didn’t sugarcoat anything and made sure I understand everything and answered all my questions.... I had a saline ultrasound done which showed I had over 15 follicles on each ovary which was great for my age of 41. We started a plan to move onto ivf which I will be starting next month.
The nursing staff [Carolina Conceptions] was great and friendly. I felt comfortable with them.... Strength is professional and great customer service and the only weakness I can even think of is accidentally scheduling me for an appt that I had no idea what. Everyone is just so nice even down to the lab that did all my bloodwork.... She [Dr. Couchman] took her time to talk to me and explain the process. She was awesome and very real as related to expectations. Loved her

I think he [Dr. Meyer] was straight to the point about what was needed and the potential outcomes. They weren’t all what I wanted to hear, but I appreciated his honesty. When I had questions on my treatment, I was able to email him and get a response right away. I’ve never experienced this with any other doctor before so this was greatly appreciated.... The only treatment I was given was progesterone and Letrozole. Each was very self explanatory.

Although I did not get to meet Dr Meyer, he was quick to respond to emails regarding my card. My consult was a phone call presumably because of covid and I was okay with that because we live two hours away.
Describe the protocols Bill Meyer used in your cycles at Carolina Conceptions and their degree of success.
Although he did not test my amh when I went under his care, I was able to provide a previous Dr's health records regarding my low amh. Last checked it was .53 in Jan 2020. I had surgery to remove polyps.
Dr. Meyer put me on Follistim 900 and 7.5 mg letrozole., ovidrel for trigger and ganirelix to prevent premature ovulation.
7.5 mg Letrozole CD 3-7
300 Follistim CD 3-9.
I went to my CD 10 scan and I had 4 mature follicles, Dr. Bowling did my scan. I asked if we could trigger the next day instead to give my follicles another day to grow this time. I triggered on CD 11 and IUI 36 hours later.

Great staff and i would recommend. My good friend got her BFP 3 months before me from care at this clinic after trying for 8 years. I have been ttc for 2 years. Dr. Meyer never once suggested donor eggs. He never suggested I couldn't get pregnant with my low amh as my last DR did which scared me to death. I never thought this was possible. Without the help of CC I wouldnt be pregnant today. Aside from the extreme nausea and vomiting I am over the moon.
Thank you All including the PA that did my IUI! I would totally kiss you if I could!
Describe the costs associated with your care under Bill Meyer at Carolina Conceptions.
First IUI my insurance covered. IUI was around $150 after insurance coverage, Meds were $350 with insurance, ultrasound were $209 monitored at another location and paying the monitoring fee of $200.
2nd IUI- my company switched insurance companies so no fertility coverage.
Medications were $2800
ultrasound $250 X 2
US monitoring fee $200
IUI $530
He [Dr. Bill Meyer] took the time to congratulate on my pregnancy even though he was on vacation and the treatment plan was very detailed...I did not see Bill Meyer a lot, but I think he was out of the office due to COVID-19 restrictions because of his age. He was very nice, responsive, and was very compassionate...I did IUI with fermara (7.5mg). I had an ultrasound on CD1 and then another ultrasound CD12 after taking Femara on CD 3-7. On CD13, I administered a trigger shot on myself (Ovidrel) and then on CD14, I underwent the insemination.
The clinic [Carolina Conceptions] was full of compassionate and knowledgable people. The only weaknesses were the COVID-19 restrictions, but that was not their fault. The costs of the ultrasounds were billed through my insurance which was just a specialist visit around 60 dollars. The IUI was 500 dollars. Blood work was not billed and medication costs were 180 for trigger shot and around 5-10 dollars for Femara meds.

Dr. Meyer was friendly and understanding. He was sympathetic to our experiences with infertility, and tried to help us to get the treatment we needed at the most affordable price. He was helpful in guiding us in the right direction, and made us feel that he would make the same recommendations for his own children or family.... Most of the nursing staff [at Carolina Conceptions] were very kind. Some of them made me feel like they had no compassion and were sort of "burned out."... The clinic is very inviting, clean, and comfortable. I feel that they are aggressive, but they are pretty costly as far as services go.

How was your experience with Meaghan Bowling at Carolina Conceptions?
Dr. Bowling is an empathic physician. She was blunt in giving us our odds, but then appropriately optimistic when things went differently. We accidentally got some results emailed to us before she had a chance to contact us about the results, and she was apologetic for the mix up and not being able to be the one to deliver the news. She is prepared for each meeting with details of our IVF history.

Describe the protocols Meaghan Bowling used in your cycles at Carolina Conceptions and their degree of success.
Because of a low AMH level, I was on max doses of Gonal, Menopur, and Cetrotide. Dr. Bowling prescribed Pregnyl as the trigger. For my second round, she added human growth hormone. For the third round, this was eliminated since there wasn't an improved follicular response. For the second round, she recommended DHEA and CoQ10. For the 3rd round, she recommended Acai and TUDAC supplements.
Describe your experience with your nurse at Carolina Conceptions. (Assigned nurse: Sarah Yon)
I visited the satellite clinic for Carolina Conceptions in Wilmington. Sarah Yon and the clinic staff are very kind and friendly. They communicated their schedules and were considerate in trying to get every US done on weekdays when the Wilmington clinic was open.
Describe your experience with Carolina Conceptions.
Carolina Conceptions has a portal that makes it very easy to keep your cycles organized and communications open. Their expansion to Wilmington has made it much more accessible. The staff at the clinic are friendly and helpful. Communication regarding the next steps is not always the most clear. Occasionally, I have had to reach out to find out what I should expect next. For our subsequent rounds of IVF, I brought up some newer, lesser studied therapies that have some researched support, but not widespread integration. CC seems to stick to the tried and supported therapies, allowing other clinics to conduct the research needed to fully support those treatments. This results in a level of trust that they aren't taking advantage of a vulnerable population (people dealing with fertility issues), but also eliminates the option of trying newer therapies for the sake of "leaving no stone unturned". I would also love to see them continue to expand their treatment at the Wilmington clinic. Overall, a very positive interpersonal and scheduling experience.
Describe the costs associated with your care under Meaghan Bowling at Carolina Conceptions.
Our first round of IVF cost approximately $12000 for clinic fees (US, appts, egg retrieval, embryology, genetic testing) and medications (Mandell's). Our second round of IVF cost approximately $4770, which included some rollover from the first round, since we did not have a FET for the first round.
Describe Meaghan Bowling's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Carolina Conceptions.
We have not gotten to the point of FET, yet. So far, Dr. Bowling has stated that the ASRMs standard is single embryo transfer.

Describe the specific things that went wrong at Carolina Conceptions.
Before our first IVF round, we had a virtual RN education class. During this class, I asked about the best way to look for affordable specialty pharmacies. I felt like the nurse told me to just use Mandell's pharmacy, because they work well with the clinic and expediting medications to patients. Before our second round, the nurse at the Wilmington clinic told me to check into a different pharmacy available in the area. This change saved me $2500. I was grateful for the information, but wish it would've been available for both rounds.
After the PGT of our embryos on one round of IVF, I received negative results via email from the testing center before hearing from the clinic. The reproductive endocrinologist was deeply apologetic for not intercepting the results on our next meeting.
Dr. Park is thorough in explaining everything during consultations...have a good bedside manner...felt he was compassionate and sympathetic...However, I did not see him often...didn't feel like the protocol was very individualized towards me specifically. I have PCOS and I felt like I was just given their standard PCOS protocol.
Strengths [of Carolina Conceptions]...offered monitoring at my local OBGYN...Negatives...like a factory with little consideration given to your specific situation....unwilling to adjust protocols...have to have a nurse teaching class before every retrieval and transfer...So between IVF / failed transfers, it took 3-4 months before you could start your next transfer.
How was your experience with John Park at Carolina Conceptions?
Dr. Park is thorough in explaining everything during consultations and did have a good bedside manner and I always felt he was compassionate and sympathetic towards what I was going through. However, I did not see him often. I saw many other providers and even when getting disappointing news, this was most often delivered by another doctor or nurse. I felt mostly like a number at Carolina Conceptions.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of John Park at Carolina Conceptions?
If you are going to go to Carolina Conceptions, be sure to advocate for yourself.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with John Park at Carolina Conceptions?
Over the course of 2 years, I saw Dr. Park for a total of 2 telehealth appointments, and 1 embryo transfer. I was shuffled around between doctors and nurses frequently. They have so many patients that it doesn't feel like the doctors or staff really know or care much about you or what you are going through.
Describe the protocols John Park used in your cycles at Carolina Conceptions and their degree of success.
1 round of IUI with letrozole and menopur was unsuccessful. One round of IVF (antagonist protocol using 75 IUI of Gonal F and 150 of Menopur with cetrotide and then lupron trigger). I didn't feel like the protocol was very individualized towards me specifically. I have PCOS and I felt like I was just given their standard PCOS protocol. They did not do any testing prior to starting IVF to even know what protocol would be best.
Describe your experience with the nursing staff at Carolina Conceptions.
I was monitored at my local OBGYN, so I didn't have a ton of interaction with the nurses, but I don't have anything negative to say.
Describe your experience with Carolina Conceptions.
Strengths - They were convenient as they offered monitoring at my local OBGYN.
Negatives - They are very much like a factory with little consideration given to your specific situation.
They are unwilling to adjust protocols when things are not working (ex. I had 2 failed embryo transfers and scheduled consult to discuss alternative transfer protocols and was told they don't have any other options except the 1 standard protocol that everyone uses.)
You have to have a nurse teaching class before every retrieval and transfer. I was unable to do a fresh transfer due to only have day 6 embryos and was told I had to schedule a nurse class to schedule my frozen transfer, which was several months out each time. And then at the class the first available transfer date was usually further out as well. So between IVF / failed transfers, it took 3-4 months before you could start your next transfer.
Describe the costs associated with your care under John Park at Carolina Conceptions.
Insurance covered the majority of my care, so this was not an issue for us.
Describe John Park's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Carolina Conceptions.
They would only transfer 1 embryo at a time. I was fine with this.
What specific things went wrong at Carolina Conceptions?
Failed to call with results
Describe the specific things that went wrong at Carolina Conceptions.
When treatment protocols were unsuccessful, they were unwilling to consider adjusting my protocol. They wanted to continue to do the same protocols that were not working. When I scheduled a consult to discuss, any options I asked about were quickly shot down without much explanation as to why except for saying that our protocol and what we have seen best success with (without consideration for the individual patient/diagnosis). There was an unwillingness to even try anything different.
