Attention to Detail

Attention to detail is on a 1 - 10 scale, and is scored based on the rate, and severity, of errors committed by the clinic according to the patients.

For example, a severe error might be failing to inform a patient of critical information, while a small error might be failing to call a patient with results.

CDC Success Rates

This is the most recent data from the CDC. The CDC cautions that it should not be used to compare doctors and clinics. This data represents the outcomes of IVF cycles when using a person's own eggs.

For more information please see our FAQs.

Where you see a “?” on the chart, a clinic has done fewer than 20 cycles in this category and age range, so the CDC says showing percentages from this small data set would be misleading and unreliable.

Dr. K [Kondapalli] is very upbeat and is quite the cheerleader. She is thorough and responds in a timely manner. ... While we had a miscarriage, it was out first successful pregnancy after 4 tries. ... She is just plain awesome. Very update, thorough and honest ... Since I was using donor eggs, my protocol was different. CCRM is very strict on all levels of what you can and can't do.
They are very expensive and thorough so the timing takes a long time. Since I went to U of Utah first and had an ectopic pregnancy, I was not eligible for a refund at CCRM. I have to disagree on this part...everything else was great ... I dealt with kristy and dale. They were both very responsive and easy to talk to. They walked me through every step of the way and showed compassion when I lost the child.
How was your experience with Laxmi Kondapalli at CCRM Colorado?
Dr. K is very upbeat and is quite the cheerleader. She is thorough and responds in a timely manner. The nurses we dealt with were always accessible. They use an online database service that I was not in love with for questions, but they also always returned my calls, no matter what. While we had a miscarriage, it was out first successful pregnancy after 4 tries.

Dr. Barton changed my IUI protocols each cycle. Over time, she realized my uterine lining responded best to stim meds...When I went back for Baby #2, we started with the same successful stim FET, and we ended up adding in vaginal estrogen due to thinner lining...Though she didn't do every procedure, she did a fibroid removal, an egg retrieval, a million IUIs, and her guidance is what led to my successful embryo transfers
CCRM is a well oiled machine. There's a person and a process for everything. It may feel like a BIG machine, but it does work well. You just have to follow each step. You will find the right people to talk to...Kellen and the entire nursing staff do a great job. They communicate quickly and clearly for the most part. That said, at times, they do drop the ball...I had people tell me I'd get results and then never get calls back.
How was your experience with Sara Barton at CCRM Colorado?
Dr. Barton was fantastic. Though she didn't do every procedure, she did a fibroid removal, an egg retrieval, a million IUIs, and her guidance is what led to my successful embryo transfers (even though she didn't do them).
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Sara Barton at CCRM Colorado?
Just realize you won't see Dr. Barton or talk to her that often. Much of the process goes through the nurses/staff which are also fantastic. But Dr. B is leading the charge behind the scenes!
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Sara Barton at CCRM Colorado?
Dr. Barton was SO personal in the times I met with her and talked to her on the phone. I always felt like I was so important to her, not like she had to rush off to someone else. I appreciated her directness but also her compassion. She really helped ease my mind through a very long fertility journey. I owe her.
Describe the protocols Sara Barton used in your cycles at CCRM Colorado and their degree of success.
Dr. Barton changed my IUI protocols each cycle. Over time, she realized my uterine lining responded best to stim meds. When we eventually went to IVF, we immediately knew stim meds would do well for egg retrieval, which they did! 42 eggs retrieved. My first transfer was a somewhat 'standard' protocol I believe. But after that was unsuccessful, Dr B knew right away to do a stim FET since my lining responded better that way. Believe it or not, I got pregnant that 2nd FET (and had a daughter!). When I went back for Baby #2, we started with the same successful stim FET, and we ended up adding in vaginal estrogen due to thinner lining. Unfortunately I got pregnant but it ended in miscarriage. We duplicated the protocol the next round, but Dr B again knew how to change things up. This time we triggered earlier than the last round, and believe it or not, I got pregnant again. I'm now almost 9 weeks pregnant.
Describe your experience with your nurse at CCRM Colorado. (Assigned nurse: Kellen)
Kellen and the entire nursing staff do a great job. They communicate quickly and clearly for the most part. That said, at times, they do drop the ball. NEVER Kellen - but covering nurses made mistakes. I had people tell me I'd get results and then never get calls back. I was told my HCG results 'looked good' when I was miscarrying. Small mistakes, but they had big impact.

Describe the costs associated with your care under Sara Barton at CCRM Colorado.
When I was paying out of pocket, it felt expensive. $2-5k/IUI round depending on meds. Luckily I was able to get on my husband's benefits before doing IVF, and his benefits are outstanding. Costs have been very reasonable.
Describe Sara Barton's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at CCRM Colorado.
I'm glad Dr B went with single embryo transfers. I've heard of so many clinics transferring two, and the risk of twins is just so scary. Grateful for ONE!

Describe the specific things that went wrong at CCRM Colorado.
I had nurses tell me I'd get calls back and then never heard back. Then I'd ask for a call back and STILL no one would call. I also had an instance where a nurse (after hours) said she couldn't share my HCG results (A BIG DEAL THAT THESE WERE MISSED!) but that she remembered the numbers 'looked really good'. Turns out the next day I talked to my actual nurse and my HCG numbers indicated an abnormal pregnancy. I miscarried a week later. It was heartbreaking to deal with the ups and downs of emotions.

How was your experience with Sara Barton at CCRM Colorado?
Dr. Barton has a great bedside manner. She was extremely informative and presented the facts truthfully. She was completely honest about the entire process and never left us in the dark. As many women can relate, IVF is a very stressful journey to be in, and Dr. Barton was no exception in that she kept our spirits up entirely. I really don't have anything to say about the weaknesses. Dr. Barton never ended up being the MD to do the egg retrieval or transfer, but I understand based on their schedules, that was just how it worked out. The other providers at CCRM are all ones you can trust, at least we did. CCRM is a well reputable fertility clinic and if anyone is seeking help for their fertility I would recommend Dr. Barton 10/10 times.

Sara was very kind and truly cared about me during our IVF journey.
Describe the protocols Sara Barton used in your cycles at CCRM Colorado and their degree of success.
Dr. Barton had me on Protocol 5. My workup concluded I had a low ovarian reserve. I am 34 years old with an AMH of 0.35. No issues with sperm. FOR RETRIEVAL: Priming meds -- Estrace (ocp) 2 mg tab daily STIM meds -- Menopur 75 unit vial (**). Gonal F 300 unit pens, clomid 50 mg, cetrotide 0.25 mg, dexamethasone 0.5 mg TRIGGER meds -- pregnyl 10,000 unit vial x 1 & Leuprolide acetate trigger kit x 1 POST retrieval meds -- doxycycline Egg retrieval was 09/02/21. We had 6 eggs collected total, 4 fertilized, 1 made it to 5 and 6 day blastocyst. The embryo cells were sent for PGT testing and was frozen. Our 1 embryo tested normal! FOR frozen embryo Transfer Priming - Estrace pills x ~ 24 days, then had breakthrough bleeding which is what they expect to occur (pre transfer) Leuoprolide acetate kit (pre transfer) Estradiol Patch 0.1 mg (take pre and post transfer) Aspirin 81 mg daily (take pre and post transfer) Endometrin 100 mg suppositories (take pre and post transfer) Progesterone in oil (take pre and post transfer) Medrol (in prep for transfer) Doxycycline (in prep for transfer and complete a few days post transfer) We had our transfer on 12/05/21 and it was a success! I am currently 11 weeks pregnant and we couldn't be more excited! If anyone has a low AMH (low ovarian reserve), I would highly recommend frozen embryo transfer + pre genetic testing as I truly believe this increases your chances of successful pregnancy and low chance for miscarriage related to chromosomal abnormalities. Prior to our IVF experience, I had 2 miscarriages and likely, the issue was poor egg quality (likely chromosomal abnormality).

The only way I can describe CCRM is like a well oiled machine. I traveled from out of state and had my entire one day workup completed within a matter of about 5 hours. Comprehensive tests and lab work were condensed into 1/2 day. The clinic is open 7 days/week for those actively undergoing stim cycles for egg retrieval. This made various protocols an option that were not even available at my local fertility clinic due to the limitations of care in a practice with only 1 physician (not open/available 7 days/week)...
How was your experience with Sara Barton at CCRM Colorado?
I came to Dr. Barton for a second opinion after having 3 prior IVF cycles and 2 failed embryo transfers. During our initial consultation she was very thorough and she had clearly reviewed my extensive prior history. She was very empathetic and easy to talk to. She was honest yet encouraging. After completing a new workup, she developed a natural cycle protocol that she felt would fit my situation better. She made multiple various changes with the expectation of being able to get different results than my prior IVF cycles. She was very thorough during both the stim cycle and transfer and made changes along the way which I think greatly affected the end result. I had one egg retrieval which yielded 26 eggs. My prior retrievals all had only 10 or 11 eggs. We did genetic testing due to my husband and I being carriers of a severe disease. After genetic testing, we ended up with two healthy embryos which again was more than any of my prior cycles. I had one embryo transfer which has resulted in a positive pregnancy and am now currently 12 weeks pregnant. As a physician myself, I really appreciated someone like Dr. Barton who was so knowledgeable yet easy to talk to. My only regret is that I did not start out at CCRM with Dr. Barton from the very beginning of our IVF process.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Sara Barton at CCRM Colorado?
Be open minded and willing to start from the beginning again if necessary.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Sara Barton at CCRM Colorado?
Dr. Barton had thoroughly reviewed my extensive history, including 3 prior IVF cycles and 2 failed embryo transfers, and was readily able to discuss all options going forward at our first consultation. She had empathy for the journey I had already been on.
Describe the protocols Sara Barton used in your cycles at CCRM Colorado and their degree of success.
Dr. Barton used a more "natural cycle" protocol basing it on my own monthly cycle rather than controlling it with birth control pills and artificially timing it. I still had high doses of stimulation medications but had a much better follicle response than on my prior 3 IVF cycles by doing it this way. She also used some different medications than in my prior cycles. Another main difference is that she did a natural transfer as well. I had a successful spontaneous pregnancy in the past resulting in a healthy birth and she felt like I would be more responsive to this. She was right and my endometrial lining developed much better this way than during my other transfers. My two previous transfers at another clinic failed- one never resulted in pregnancy, and the other only resulted in a chemical pregnancy which quickly resolved over a few days. I had one embryo transferred with Dr. Barton resulting in a positive pregnancy that is now 12 weeks.
Describe your experience with your nurse at CCRM Colorado. (Assigned nurse: Tracy)
Tracy was very prompt in responding and was able to adequately convey the important information from Dr. Barton.

Describe Sara Barton's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at CCRM Colorado.
I only had two healthy embryos after this egg retrieval. She felt as though there was a higher chance of a successful pregnancy by transferring one at a time rather than transferring both at one time.

Dr. Barton was amazing to work with. She was open and honest about expectations and guided us on our treatment plan to help us increase our odds of getting the outcome we wanted. She was also willing to make adjustments to our IVF plan to keep us on track (which included a second round of IVF retrieval to increase my odds of hopefully having two kids!). Dr. Barton did not perform every procedure we did as she works with a team of very skilled doctors as part of CCRM. If Dr. Barton was unavailable for any reason, we were still able to get the same care from another Doctor as well (making us feel like we had a whole team supporting and watching over us).
CCRM has a group of clinics that you may go to depending on which location is most convenient, I primarily used their Rose medical and Longmont locations. Note: Their Longmont location is the main location opened on weekends. Both locations were very easy to get to, had easy parking, and were clean...I never waited longer than a day if I had a question that needed an answer.

What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Sara Barton at CCRM Colorado?
Be flexible and willing to adjust as things don’t happen as planned! Also go easy on yourself. This is a crazy process and can be very overwhelming at times. I also found that the process got easier the more and more I talked about it (family, friends, and even coworkers) - it helps having a large support group! My husband and I initially started seeing Dr. Barton after we had been trying to conceive for about a year. We ended up trying to conceive with Dr. Barton’s help using IUI; however, after three tries this was unsuccessful. At this point we decided to change course and start IVF only to have the entire world shut down to the global pandemic! You can’t plan for these things! During this time, Dr. Barton and her team were very up front with what was going on and even started me on a berry supplement to boost my egg quality while we waited for the clinic to resume procedures. We did two IFV retrievals to increase our odds of being able to have two kids, and despite one failed pregnancy my second transfer worked and I’m currently 9 weeks pregnant! Long story short, be flexible and willing to adjust otherwise you will go crazy!! Also open up to others because you will find that you aren’t alone. There are strengths in numbers!
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Sara Barton at CCRM Colorado?
Dr. Barton truly cared about my husband and me throughout the time working with her. She answered all our questions (some we asked multiple times) and seemed to truly care about us as people going through this very stressful, unknown process. Dr. Barton and her team were there for us every step of the way (even during the 2020 pandemic). I felt completely comfortable in her care.

I was comfortable with Dr. Barton’s approach for single embryo transfer, especially since we opted to do advanced chromosomal screening on the embryos increasing our odds of success.

Dr. Barton is incredibly kind and easy to talk to. She explained everything in detail and answered all of our questions thoroughly. It really felt like she had our best interests in mind when talking with us and making recommendations...[she] was open to taking in our opinion with the embryo transfer...I felt we could trust all of the information she provided and that we are able to make the very best decisions for our journey.
Very well-run clinic.[CCRM Colorado is] Very organized and never had to wait long for appointments as they were rarely behind schedule. The finance part of fertility treatment is very confusing and we were a bit discouraged we had to advocate for our refunds when they were owed...Around $54K total for workup, 2 egg retrievals, and 1 transfer

Describe your experience with your nurse at CCRM Colorado. (Assigned nurse: Tracy)
Tracy was very knowledgeable about tests and procedures and was able to answer our questions. It did seem like Tracy was very busy and later we found out she was transferring to another location. There were a couple of times where we did not get a callback with questions or she had forgotten to communicate with the other nursing staff on protocol updates.

There were 2 times when my nurse said she had made an appointment for me but when I showed up to the clinic, there was no appointment on file. The clinic was very accommodating and adjusted however it was frustrating.

Dr. Ehrhart has been through IVF herself, and understands the process not only as a doctor but as a patient. She is very sensitive and thoughtful when listening to her patient's concerns. She takes on your case as HER case, and failure is not an option for her...I have had IVF related procedures done by a variety of medical professionals and Dr. Ehrhart is the only one I trust to do it efficiently and as painlessly as possible.
CCRM is excellent at scheduling appointments with multiple doctors and nurses while also communicating with outside clinics as necessary...Shawna [nurse] was an awesome complement to Dr. Ehrhart. She was very organized, a natural logistical person, and a direct communicator...The fact that they have so many out of state patients (including myself) is proof that they have their business down....
How was your experience with Lauren Ross Ehrhart at CCRM Colorado?
Dr. Ehrhart saw me through my entire IVF process: work-up, egg retrieval, 3 embryo transfers. Thanks to her and her team, I brought home a healthy baby in 2020. She respected my preferences with respect to embryo transfer while also being candid about the quality of each embryo. She was hugely invested in my success, and I felt she was as disappointed as I was when an embryo did not result in a successful pregnancy. I could not have asked for a more engaged, respectful, and committed doctor to guide my family through IVF.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Lauren Ross Ehrhart at CCRM Colorado?
You are lucky to get Dr. Ehrhart! Tell her what you want from IVF, do some research and come prepared with questions. She will tell you how it is going to go based on your health, the embryo health, and your preferences. Take her recommendations and advice seriously.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Lauren Ross Ehrhart at CCRM Colorado?
Dr. Ehrhart has been through IVF herself, and understands the process not only as a doctor but as a patient. She is very sensitive and thoughtful when listening to her patient's concerns. She takes on your case as HER case, and failure is not an option for her. She is an effective doctor and a committed professional. I recommend her all the time. Despite being an excellent desk doctor, she is a wonderful practitioner. I have had IVF related procedures done by a variety of medical professionals and Dr. Ehrhart is the only one I trust to do it efficiently and as painlessly as possible. I cannot recommend her enough.
Describe the protocols Lauren Ross Ehrhart used in your cycles at CCRM Colorado and their degree of success.
Dr. Ehrhart used her standard egg retrieval and embryo transfer protocols for a 33 year old woman with unexplained infertility. I made 23 eggs, grew great lining, and had an uneventful pregnancy resulting in normal delivery.
Describe your experience with your nurse at CCRM Colorado. (Assigned nurse: Shawna)
Shawna was an awesome complement to Dr. Ehrhart. She was very organized, a natural logistical person, and a direct communicator. I really enjoyed working with her.

Describe the costs associated with your care under Lauren Ross Ehrhart at CCRM Colorado.
Egg retrieval + 1 transfer, about $25,000 without the cost of the drugs Subsequent transfers, $3-5,000 each
Describe Lauren Ross Ehrhart's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at CCRM Colorado.
Dr. Ehrhart and I were in agreement that one embryo at a time was the way to go. I was not confident about my ability to carry twins nor the local medical support they could expect if delivered prematurely.

Following our initial testing and consultation with Dr. Barton, she carefully explained why we may not find success on the first (or few) attempts. ... Her honesty, while initially disappointing, helped my husband and I gain the realistic perspective we needed to start IVF. ... With stage 4 endometriosis ... Dr. Barton is undoubtably direct but spoke with both myself and my husband as people. She’s highly aware that infertility is a difficult and emotional subject and she has never diminished our feelings throughout the process.
The billing office [CCRM]. ... I had to remind them several times to send things to me for payment. The other concern I’d love to see addressed is the pharmacy relationships. You’ll be given your protocol and a list of several pharmacies you have to call to price out. ... I was accidentally sent another patients results. How was your experience with Sara Barton at CCRM Colorado?
Foolishly, my husband and I expected we’d be given better “odds” with IVF. Following our initial testing and consultation with Dr. Barton, she carefully explained why we may not find success on the first (or few) attempts. Her honesty, while initially disappointing, helped my husband and I gain the realistic perspective we needed to start IVF.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Sara Barton at CCRM Colorado?
Expect to be communicated to in a direct manner. Her nurse Kate is also incredible so you’ll enjoy working with her as well as Dr. Barton. We joke that she’s Barton’s bonus!
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Sara Barton at CCRM Colorado?
Dr. Barton is undoubtably direct but spoke with both myself and my husband as people. She’s highly aware that infertility is a difficult and emotional subject and she has never diminished our feelings throughout the process.
Describe the protocols Sara Barton used in your cycles at CCRM Colorado and their degree of success.
With stage 4 endometriosis, Dr. Barton recommended an antagonist protocol with mid-lutal estrogen patch priming. We’ve had two delays. The first is a delayed transfer (fingers crossed we get there) because of a uterine cyst and the second was because I developed ovarian cysts during suppression. We’re starting the patches again later this month in hopes that the ovarian cysts have shrunk.
Describe your experience with your nurse at CCRM Colorado. (Assigned nurse: Kate)
Can’t say enough good things about Kate. She’s responsive, easy to work with and informed. We’ve also worked with Katie who subs for Kate when she’s out and Katie has also been a pleasure to work with.
Describe your experience with CCRM Colorado.
The billing office. It’s what everyone says about CCRM and it’s true. They’re nice folks but just seem a little too busy for their workload. I had to remind them several times to send things to me for payment. The other concern I’d love to see addressed is the pharmacy relationships. You’ll be given your protocol and a list of several pharmacies you have to call to price out. This process is cumbersome and adds unneeded stress to the situation. I’d love to see CCRM partner with a couple of pharmacies to make the process of obtaining of drugs simpler.
Describe the costs associated with your care under Sara Barton at CCRM Colorado.
I believe we paid just under 22K for the IVF cycle. We live within 250 miles of her office and it’s our first IVF cycle so we received a slight discount. Our drugs were around 5K, both fees will likely go up as we’ve had delays. I think we paid about 5K in intial testing fees and genetic testing.
Describe Sara Barton's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at CCRM Colorado.
Because of age and potential succes, we’re doing eSET. I believe I was told that research has proven it to be more effective and healthy for baby and mom.

She [Dr. Lauren Ross Ehrhart] was phenomenal! For the first time through this process, I felt like she was honest with us. She wanted this just as much as we did and she showed she was willing to do whatever she could to make this pregnancy attempt be a success! She talked me through every step and went above and beyond to make sure we gave this IVF attempt the best attempt we could. When we did have a successful pregnancy, she was one of the first people at the clinic to congratulate us.
CCRM is the best clinic we have used! I wish we would have started at CCRM! Everything was done with excellence. Everyone was kind and polite. The staff and team members were all helpful and encouraging...This is a top notch clinic who is not only nice looking but their protocols are cutting edge! It was worth every penny... loved working with nurse Dale! She was incredible. She always had time for me and she went out of her way to interact with me every time I was in the office. She was my cheerleader!

Describe Lauren Ross Ehrhart's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at CCRM Colorado.
I like that she trusted us with this decision. When we told her we wanted multiple embryos transferred, she gave us the warnings and dangers but then also looked at my age/health and told me that she would be ok with us making either decision.

I’ve never actually spoken with Dr. K (over the phone Orin person) since my initial appt....I think dr K absolutely knows her stuff and was good at adjusting my treatments each round of my IUIs as she learned new info, however I rarely knew why she was doing what she was doing. I wish I’d had check ins after each one, but that wasn’t offered. I believe she cares deeply and is in her office truly studying my #s and deciding the best course for us
Their [CCRM] facilities are top of the line. Weakness: there Private equity backed and it’s a money making machine- so they are very very lean on staff (too lean) and the nurse I interacted with was not the best....There was a time my nurse told me to go onto a specific medication immediately, and when I got to the pharmacy it was a different medication. There was also a time when I wasn't told to go back on a med and only when I asked 3 days later why I wasn't on it this round did they say- oops, you should be on that!

I wish I’d had check ins after each one, but that wasn’t offered. I believe she cares deeply and is in her office truly studying my #s and deciding the best course for us, on the flip side lots of questions go unanswered since I have zero communication with her.

I’ve never actually spoken with Dr. K (over the phone Orin person) since my initial appt.
Describe the protocols Laxmi Kondapalli used in your cycles at CCRM Colorado and their degree of success.
I’ve done 3 IUIs so far- all failed. 1st IUI- oral clomid and took forever- 5 ultrasounds in total- eventually triggered and did timed intercourse. 2nd- oral clomid followed by menopur shots still took a long time (40+ days)- 4-5 ultrasounds in total- eventually triggered and did timed intercourse. 3rd IUI: oral clomid alongside menopur shots- 1ultrasounds in total- growth was more predictable- triggered and did timed intercourse. Each one took a different course and they seemed to get more streamlined as we progressed.
Describe your experience with your nurse at CCRM Colorado. (Assigned nurse: Angelica)
The nursing staff is clearly over worked with too many patience, so not all the blame falls on them. That said, my particular nurse treated me as if I was on a ‘need to know’ basis and didn’t need to know anything. I felt like a lot of details as well as reasons/rationale were left of, I was oftenleft puzzled testing a friend who had been through this. Also, a couple mistakes were made in regards to medication etc.
Describe your experience with CCRM Colorado.
Their lab and results are great. Their reputation is too notch. Their doctors are well regarded. Their facilities are top of the line. Weakness: there Private equity backed and it’s a money making machine- so they are very very lean on staff (too lean) and the nurse I interacted with was not the best. You have to really stay on top of them.

How was your experience with William Schoolcraft at CCRM Colorado?
If you’re looking for a “warm, fuzzy” feeling from your doctor, then Dr Schoolcraft isn’t who you are looking for. But, if you are wanting an experienced, smart, top in the nation fertility doctor, then he’s your man! After 6 years of infertility treatments, including 2 rounds of IVF, I didn’t care about bedside manner. He is very straight forward in his opinions of your case, and I appreciated that. He may not be the best at expressing emotions, but I can truly say he cares for his patients. Even if he is not in the office, he is checking in on each of his patient’s daily! Knowing he has seen almost every infertility case had a way of putting my worries at ease. I was never afraid to ask questions or add in my own opinions, and he would definitely take those into consideration. Overall, I really love and appreciate him as my doctor.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of William Schoolcraft at CCRM Colorado?
Have your questions written down and ready to ask him and do not be scared to challenge his opinions with your own. Be prepared for his flat affect, whether over the phone or in person. But, don’t let this deter you! He really is great!
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with William Schoolcraft at CCRM Colorado?
Honestly, after dealing with many other fertility doctors and clinics CCRM was like a breath of fresh air. Dr Schoolcraft is very forthcoming with his opinions and diagnoses, which I, personally, prefer. After 6 years of infertility I wanted a doctor who would years of experience, and bedside manner really didn’t matter to me. Dr Schoolcraft isn’t going to give your a “warm, fuzzy” feeling, but he is extremely smart, and I know he truly wants to help women! The nurse I was assigned to is absolutely amazing! She is in constant contact with me, walking me through every step, encouraging me & keeping everyone organized! She is definitely like a friend!
Describe the protocols William Schoolcraft used in your cycles at CCRM Colorado and their degree of success.
Dr Schoolcraft, my husband and myself decided to go the IVM route. Due to my PCO, and my past 2 unsuccessful IVF cycles Dr Schoolcraft’s main focus was to get good quality eggs to be able to freeze. My past 2 IVF cycles, from a different clinic, I had produced almost 30 eggs, but out of those 30 we had none make it to freeze. Dr Schoolcraft wasn’t sure if this was because of egg quality, or lab error or poor response to the fertility medications. Some women do not respond well to the stimulation and their ovaries are not a good host to grow healthy follicles. Because of this, Dr Schoolcraft brought up the option of doing an IVM vs IVF. IVM is often used for women who have PCOS or PCO, which I have! These women tend to produce an over abundance of eggs, and because of this, tend to hyperstimulate (I had experienced hyperstimulation twice with both rounds of IVF). With IVM they use minimum medications to stimulate your ovaries. They then retrieve the eggs at an immature state, continue to grow them in their lab, and, because of this, the woman is essentially at zero risk of Hyperstimulation! We chose to go this route, and my experience was TOTALLY different than my last 2 cycles! I felt great throughout stimming, never felt bloated, no headaches & had a great recovery after my retrieval! I did NOT hyperstimulate, and I felt back to myself after a couple of days! It was just the best experience all around! Even with less stim meds, and retrieving my eggs at an immature state they retrieved 17 eggs! And of those 17 eggs, we were able to freeze 7 great quality embryos! No praying we can get pregnant with one of those embryos!
Describe your experience with your nurse at CCRM Colorado. (Assigned nurse: Sarah)
My nurse, Sarah, is absolutely amazing! She is extremely organized, a great communicator, very compassionate & smart! During our first embryo transfer she came up to give me a hug and bring a small gift for me! She has been such an encourager for me, and she has always been prompt in getting back to me when I call or send a message
Describe your experience with CCRM Colorado.
This clinic is very organized, prompt and have thought almost everything through. I would say there were two staff members at the front desk that we’re not as friendly as they could have been. Working in the medical field myself, I know the importance of having a friendly face to great each patient, and to make them feel like they are your number one priority. Most of the staff made me feel important, there were just two that did not seem happy to be at work.
Describe the costs associated with your care under William Schoolcraft at CCRM Colorado.
It was roughly $20,000 for IVM. It’s abkther $5,000 for another transfer since our first transfer didn’t take.
Describe William Schoolcraft's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at CCRM Colorado.

I think Dr. Schoolcraft is an excellent doctor. He is not the warmest, but he is friendly enough and I appreciate that he is so straightforward and honest. He always explains everything in a way that makes sense to me/my husband, and is willing to sit with us as long as we have questions. He is careful about managing our expectations, so we are prepared for the many different potential outcomes.
CCRM is a really wonderful clinic. It is a nice facility, and everyone working there from the receptionist to the doctors are very professional. I think it's obvious that it is at the cutting edge of new treatments and that the doctors, nurses, techs, etc, are incredibly qualified. The biggest weaknesses are the fact that it is such a big clinic that sometimes I feel like a number/it's not super personal. Additionally, they are so high tech with their treatment and their lab, but they are not that high tech with some of the other simpler things - like calendars! They could easily create digital and more professional looking calendars for patients that adjust with the patient. It sort of drives me crazy that they just have a sloppy, handwritten calendar and I'm expected to add in the dosages and other things as the change. Finally, it is just insanely expensive which is a huge challenge.
How was your experience with William Schoolcraft at CCRM Colorado?
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of William Schoolcraft at CCRM Colorado?
Ask all the questions you can think of - he is happy to answer them and explain everything to you!
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with William Schoolcraft at CCRM Colorado?
Dr. Schoolcraft has always talked to me and my husband about our issues individually - that makes me feel like he sees me as a unique case and individual human.
Describe the protocols William Schoolcraft used in your cycles at CCRM Colorado and their degree of success.
I have done one retrieval so far and will continue on the same protocol for the next two planned retrievals. My protocol at CCRM is called protocol 5 and was described by Dr. Schoolcraft as "the mother of all protocols." Since I have a diminished ovarian reserve, Dr. Schoolcraft wanted me on the highest dosages and most medication to get as many eggs as possible. The stim medications include: 2 vials menopur, 300 units follistim, 100mg clomid... then I added ganirellex and eventually triggered with 10,000 units of lupron and two 800 mg shots of acetate trigger kit.
Describe your experience with your nurse at CCRM Colorado. (Assigned nurse: Sarah )
Sarah has been great - she is always really positive and informative. She is calm and professional. I appreciate that she answers my crazy questions and encourages me to reach out if I have any issues.
Describe your experience with CCRM Colorado.
Describe the costs associated with your care under William Schoolcraft at CCRM Colorado.
Phone Consultation: $325 One Day Work-Up: $2884.50 Blood Tests: $642 Day 3 Tests: $402 First Round Retrieval (including all appts, ultra sounds, blood work, retrieval procedure, etc.): $21,168
Describe William Schoolcraft's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at CCRM Colorado.
I have not gotten there yet - currently trying to get as many embryos as possible so we will transfer after the third round of retrievals

Kind. Empathize with our situation. Compassionate and caring. I felt he [Dr. Surrey] committed to us and was willing to do all he could for us. He genuinely seemed to be vested in us and our outcome. We didn’t visit with him as often as we’d hoped but understand why. ... He spoke to us after all the testing about IUI and what the odds were of a pregnancy with that vs. IVF. I felt like we were well equipped to make a decision
Weakness- Extended wait time for initial consultation [CCRM Colorado]. We waited 60 days for our apt. Weakness- not being about to get anyone on the phone when we had questions. Lots of "hurry up and wait" this is hard when you have already waited so long to have a baby. PRO: compassionate staff from the receptionist to the doctors. Everyone was pleasant, and kind. PRO: organized!

What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Eric Surrey at CCRM Colorado?
Not specific to dr surrey, but just IVF in general, prepare for expensive and emotional treatments
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Eric Surrey at CCRM Colorado?
Was empathetic to our situation, I was dealing with my mother on hospice at the same as infertility and when I cried in his office he was kinder to me than I had ever expected. He just listened and was kind.
Describe the protocols Eric Surrey used in your cycles at CCRM Colorado and their degree of success.
I don't remember specific treatment strategies but I do remember feeling like Dr. Surrey was thorough with the testing he ordered to be done. We did not know what our fertility problem was and before we jumped into IVF we wanted to know if there were other options for us. He spoke to us after all the testing about IUI and what the odds were of a pregnancy with that vs. IVF. I felt like we were well equipped to make a decision about what we wanted to do. He explained with our specific situation that we have a less than 10% success rate with IUI and that we can try it, but he does not feel like it would get us a baby. (keep in mind, my mother was on Hospice and he was trying to be sensitive to the fact that i didn't have a lot of "time" to play with IUI).
Describe your experience with your nurse at CCRM Colorado. (Assigned nurse: Laney)
All were wonderful. The only complaint i would have is that in some cases i was kept waiting for an extended period of time to see someone when i had an apt. In some situations, i was waiting 20-25 min past my apt. time. I felt they were all compassionate, and were patient when we asked many questions. I also received a lot of reassurance from them when i felt over whelmed or afraid. Laney was very easy-going and made an emotional situation that much easier for us.

I never felt shuffled or like someone didn't know what was immediately going on with us.
Describe your experience with your monitoring appointments at CCRM Colorado.
If i showed up at the soonest time, i had to wait longer than if i waited a bit. All apts. were quick but also felt thorough.
Describe the costs associated with your care under Eric Surrey at CCRM Colorado.
We had to do a lot of testing. In total we spent $35,000. I dont remember specific costs for each test or treatment.
Describe Eric Surrey's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at CCRM Colorado.
He left it up to us. We had A+ embryos and had quite a few of them fertilize and split successfully. He left how many we wanted to implant up to us. We ended up going with 1 embryo on a fresh transfer and had a baby girl as a result.

Very straight forward and no nonsense, but he’s [Dr. Schoolcraft] still kind- some may view this as bad bedside manner but I appreciate someone who is straight to the point. Very knowledgeable and appreciated my questions and deligient research ... Antagonist protocol- he wanted to concentrate on quantity over quality (we thought my quality would be good). ... Strong preference to single embryo transfer, but was open to consider two.
I was Very impressed and felt comforted by the staff [CCRM Colorado], their attention to detail, and their friendliness. Everyone was able to answer my questions or immediately find an answer for me. They did not dismiss my concerns. ... Everything was very well organized, all the staff treated me as if I’d known them before even if it was our first time meeting, very thorough, nobody disregarded any of my questions and concerns

My experience with Dr. Ehrhart could not have been more positive. Although my journey to motherhood wasn't always easy, I felt supported, listened to, cared for, and honored along the way. She considered my needs at every step and was responsive to my questions. She made adjustments as needed and was always positive about what was possible while being realistic around the science of what we were trying to do.
The clinic [CCRM Colorado] is very well organized and the systems are clear and easy to follow. They are also able to personalize the experience based on what the patient brings to the process. I appreciate that they clearly communicated what I could expect and how my questions would be addressed...The whole nursing team was always very communicative and also caring when I came into the office.

Dr. G always spoke to us by name and asked personal questions besides just fertility rated questions. He seemed to really want to know us as people and not just patients. He also knew our history and chart during our first consult and didn't have to refer to our chart once.... I'm an out of state patient and so I didn't get to see Dr. Gustofson very often, but he was very responsive to emails (sometimes less than 10 minutes for a response) and very thorough during all of our phone calls. He didn't seem rushed to get through the call and really wanted all of our questions answered.
Because CCRM is so busy, you don't often have the same US techs or nurses when you visit. I didn't mind this, but others may prefer to have some uniformity. This clinic is one of the very best, and the staff is very caring.... Kathryn [nurse] was excellent! She always answered my questions and was thorough in explanations. She was also willing to tell me if she didn't know something instead of making something up.

Describe Robert Gustofson's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at CCRM Colorado.
Dr. Gustofson strongly encouraged eSET, but since we had multiple unsuccessful transfers at another clinic previously, he said he would transfer 2 if we really wanted to. However, he outlined all of the risks of transferring 2 embryos.

Dr. Barton was great to work with. She called me personally after each major update...understood my insurance benefits and history well. We adjusted my fertility plan after the first IUI was unsuccessful. I appreciated her listening to me about my insurance concerns and timeline...I wish she would have performed my IUI...done by a different individual each time but [she] assured me I was in good hands.
Twice my medicine was called in incorrectly...My IUI was scheduled for the wrong date and so was my progesterone follow up. I felt like all of these scenarios were outside the norm for CCRM so I continued to see Dr. Barton... a few times I worked with someone outside my primary doctor/nurse and did not have a good experience. I felt like they did not properly review my file or care to make sure they were communicating the right information.
How was your experience with Sara Barton at CCRM Colorado?
Dr. Barton was great to work with. She called me personally after each major update. She understood my insurance benefits and history well. We adjusted my fertility plan after the first IUI was unsuccessful. I appreciated her listening to me about my insurance concerns and timeline (couldn't try for another IUI right away because of assists, everything took longer than expected). We figured out a plan that worked well for all parties. She was patient and kind. I wish she would have performed my IUI. I had my IUI done by a different individual each time but Dr. Barton assured me I was in good hands.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Sara Barton at CCRM Colorado?
I felt like I could have gotten pregnant after my first IUI if it wasn't for the scheduling mistakes made by CCRM. They scheduled my IUI and follow up progesterone test one week later than it should have been. This was stressful. I showed up at the right time and place (7AM Easter Sunday) and they said I wasn't on the books till the following week. I wish I would have gotten an apology but even Carly (nurse) didn't know what had happened until I told her the following week. It was a substitute nurse who made the scheduling error. The same nurse scheduled my progesterone labs for the week after the wrongly scheduled IUI labs. When Carly (nurse) called to ask about my progesterone blood work, I told her it wasn't till the next week and when I found out it was another CCRM mistake, I felt like it was my fault that I didn't catch these errors. It was my first IUI, I trusted CCRM was doing everything right. By the time I got in to test my progesterone, I was on my period. Progesterone supplements is what helped me get pregnant next time around on IUI #2.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Sara Barton at CCRM Colorado?
Dr. Barton and her team were very personable to work with. They helped me through some tears and smiles. We were all very happy when I got my positive test.
Describe the protocols Sara Barton used in your cycles at CCRM Colorado and their degree of success.
We were going to do three IUI's then IVF. My insurance covered 4 cycles of either IVF or IUI per lifetime. However, I kept getting assists or had other oddities in my cycle that caused us to get postponing IUI. After a few months, we decided we would just do two cycles of IUI and then move on to IVF. I got pregnant on IUI #2.
Describe your experience with your nurse at CCRM Colorado. (Assigned nurse: Carly)
Carly was great. I primarily visited a different office close to my work so I didn't meet Carly in person but that did not matter. We talked frequently on the phone and she got to know me well. She was easy to communicate with and very organized.
Describe your experience with CCRM Colorado.
Per my primary comment, there was a few times I worked with someone outside my primary doctor/nurse and did not have a good experience. I felt like they did not properly review my file or care to make sure they were communicating the right information. I was just a number in those situations.
Describe the costs associated with your care under Sara Barton at CCRM Colorado.
The initial appointment was $375 I think but from there my insurance covered most of my appointments and exams. I just had to pay co-pays until I got pregnant.
Describe Sara Barton's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at CCRM Colorado.
No concerns.
What specific things went wrong at CCRM Colorado?
  • Failed to call in prescriptions to pharmacy
  • Lost appointments
  • Failed to order appropriate test
Describe the specific things that went wrong at CCRM Colorado.
Twice my medicine was called in incorrectly. It was time sensitive medication so this was stressful. My birthday was given wrong to Alto Pharmacy and then clomid once was called in to a pharmacy over 30 minutes from my house. My IUI was scheduled for the wrong date and so was my progesterone follow up. I felt like all of these scenarios were outside the norm for CCRM so I continued to see Dr. Barton.

I’d recommend Dr. Gustafson to anyone struggling to conceive. He’s very knowledable, empathetic, direct and easy to talk to. Infertility is an emotional process, having a doctor who is brilliant and understanding is an important combo. I had confidence in his medical direction at all times.... Dr. G warned us of the risks of transferring two embryos, he was firm that he did not recommend two given our quality of embryo... however my husband and I choose to transfer two. The pregnancy came with many risks, scares, premature babies, nicu time, hellp syndrome, post partum hemorrhage, blood transfusion, c section etc
Top clinic [CCRM Colorado]... brilliant doctors, top of the line facilities and lab. I felt like I was in the best hands possible. Sometimes feel like a number, but at the end of the day I only wanted to get pregnant, and I did!... Nursing staff has a lot of calls, patients etc... and at times you feel like a number as you aren’t always in contact with your primary nurse. In person, nurses were great, but hard to get a hold of on the phone

She [Dr. Sara Barton] was so professional and it felt as though she was a family friend. She was thorough, empathetic and supportive. I wish we had seen her first. She went over all concerns and gave us a realistic and positive chance with IVF.... She's incredible, her bedside manner is to the point but with lots of epathy and clear expectations.... [CCRM Colorado's] Strengths are organized, thorough, clean, professional. They have great business hours even over Holidays.
[CCRM Colorado's] Strengths are organized, thorough, clean, professional. They have great business hours even over Holidays. They are modern in their approach and very knowledgeable. It's almost a one stop shop. Their facilities are exquisite and efficient. 10 stars!... Total cost would be $26,000 for one IVF cycle. (first cycle) They accept insurance.... [the nurse is] A tad impersonal but very professional and thorough. She's fantastic!!

Dr. Barton went above and beyond to make me feel like a valued patient and not just a number at their clinic. She listened to all of my concerns and addressed each one with understanding but also explained the why behind her treatment plan each step of the way...she really felt confident we could achieve a pregnancy with our current treatment plan. Based off that last regroup with her, my husband and I decided to give it one more shot and try the injectable medications with timed intercourse one more time before moving to IVF...

How was your experience with Sara Barton at CCRM Colorado?
I cannot say enough good things about Dr. Barton and CCRM. Dr. Barton was the second doctor I have seen for fertility treatment. I was diagnosed with hypothalamic amenorrhea (lost my period due to various stress on my body). By the time I changed to Dr. Barton, I had been on various hormones for months trying to spark my body to regain my period and already felt exhausted and overwhelmed by the treatment plan I was on and the infertility journey in general. Our first consultation Dr. Barton asked why I was switching clinics and what was my treatment plan from my previous doctor. After a quick summary of the process/ various hormones I was put on, Dr. Barton kindly told my husband and I that there was a very low chance that the current treatment plan I was on would get me to ovulate let alone my goal to a pregnancy. Based off my labs and my husband's analysis she decided the best course of action would be to try Clomid and timed intercourse first. She was very transparent that patients who have Hypothalamic amenorrhea will often not respond to Clomid and if that was the case for me we would have to move to injectable medications to get me to ovulate. I did respond to Clomid on our first cycle and was able to ovulate after using a trigger shot as well. The cycle did not result in a pregnancy but was the first time I ovulated in months so I felt it was great progress compared to the last doctor I saw. We moved onto our second cycle and started with Clomid, unfortunately my body did not respond this time and we had to move to injectables. This round I also successfully ovulated but did not result in a pregnancy. Before our third cycle, I became a little discouraged and thought our best option was to move straight to IVF instead of what I thought was putting off the inevitable. I let my nurse know that we wanted to move forward with IVF and was actually able to get in to see Dr. Barton that week to discuss next steps. During that appointment she explained further some of the risks (OHSS) that could be a possibility for someone like me who was in their 20's and had a high AMH level. She was so kind/supportive during that regroup stating that she would support my decision moving to IVF next but she really felt confident we could achieve a pregnancy with our current treatment plan. Based off that last regroup with her, my husband and I decided to give it one more shot and try the injectable medications with timed intercourse one more time before moving to IVF. I am so happy that we listened to Dr.Barton's advice as the third time was the charm and we are now pregnant with our baby! I am so thankful for switching to CCRM and all of Dr.Barton's care and guidance.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Sara Barton at CCRM Colorado?

She [Dr. Barton] was thorough in all of her explanations. She understands the ups and downs that you go through during treatment. And she makes sure you are ok...kind, compassionate and personable...Understand that you will have a lot more communications with the nurse. But, Dr Barton is always available to you....Initially I wanted two embryos transferred. After discussing with Dr Barton, we decided one was best. I trust her recommendations and don't regret doing only one...
All of my nurses [at CCRM Colorado] were exceptional. They listened to all my concerns. Consoled me on difficult days. They responded to questions and concerns promptly...It seems like there is high turnover with nurses and I didn't know it was changing until one was already gone. With that said, all of my nurses were absolutely fantastic...

Understand that you will have a lot more communications with the nurse. But, Dr Barton is always available to you.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Sara Barton at CCRM Colorado?
There were many times I broke down crying during a phone call or appointment. They took the opportunity to talk to me and make sure I had the support I needed. They were very reassuring the entire process.
Describe the protocols Sara Barton used in your cycles at CCRM Colorado and their degree of success.
We started with IUI since it was less invasive. This included Clomid and timing of my cycle. Lots of ultrasounds and labwork. Next we moved onto IVF. We decided to try it on a natural cycle to reduce the amount of needles I needed to use. I can't remember all my meds.

Describe your experience with CCRM Colorado.
Everyone at the Rose location was outstanding. There were times I needed to go to the Lonetree location and the front desk staff didn't seem as warm there. Also, I have had a few different nurses along the way. It seems like there is high turnover with nurses and I didn't know it was changing until one was already gone. With that said, all of my nurses were absolutely fantastic.
Describe the costs associated with your care under Sara Barton at CCRM Colorado.
I had very good insurance coverage. I believe my total costs for the entire duration of my time at CCRM came to maybe $10k.

Walking into CCRM not knowing exactly what was wrong with me was very frustrating and I felt alone...There were so many times at the beginning of the process when I was not seeing the progress I wanted to see but Dr Barton always reassured me that time is all that was needed...celebrated with all of the progress we had made once the medication started working and was able to personally congratulate us on having a successful pregnancy.
Everyone [at CCRM Colorado] is always so well informed and offers any kind of support or help that parents need...[Phlebotomists] are absolutely out of this world and love you in instant you start to create relationships with them. They really helped me so much more than they will ever know! The ultrasound crew is amazing and you know you are in good hands with them.
How was your experience with Sara Barton at CCRM Colorado?
Walking into CCRM not knowing exactly what was wrong with me was very frustrating and I felt alone. However, once we met through the consultation things were very different and I started building a relationship with her. Knowing that she wanted the very best for my situation and wanting me to take time to trust the process, showed me how dedicated she is as a doctor. Dr Barton took the time when we were struggling with medication and did not see any progress and had so much sympathy for us. However, She celebrated with all of the progress we had made once the medication started working and was able to personally congratulate us on having a successful pregnancy. She is the best doctor I’ve ever gone to and we will be going back to her for future babies.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Sara Barton at CCRM Colorado?
Hold on to the hope of wanting a family because in this place you are welcomed, supported and your dream of having a family will come true. Trust the doctors and nurses as they know exactly what they are doing. Stay determined and you will see progress

Describe the costs associated with your care under Sara Barton at CCRM Colorado.
I have had to do two different cycles: the onboarding one, where they tried the clomid and then the IUI bundle. Overall cost was expensive , however my insurance helped half of the cost. I would definitely do this whole experience again because of the results no matter the cost.

Dr. Barton made me feel extremely comfortable during every appointment. She explained in detail every part of the process and the diagnosis. I left some appointments with paper drawings to ensure I understood what she was telling me and could share with my husband. She made it obvious she was here for me during this process...ensured we fully understood all the components of each test and procedure as well as walked us through results in detail. I felt very comfortable in her care.
CCRM was absolutely fantastic. They were so flexible with scheduling and were always able to get me in when needed based on cycle dates. They were always on time and I never had to wait long for my appointment. I had so much confidence getting treated here because they were so professional and organized... [nurse] Catherine was great! She did the IUI procedure and was very caring and comforting...I’m expecting a healthy baby girl in a month!

How was your experience with Lauren Ross Ehrhart at CCRM Colorado?
She was able to give me the push I needed to get the fertility process going and I ended up appreciating her encouragement. Her motivation saved me time, money, and less disappointment to go through the IUI instead of IVF. If I waited longer, which Dr. Ehrhart recommended not to, I may have had to go through IVF later on.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Lauren Ross Ehrhart at CCRM Colorado?
Do not wait to get your fertility journey going. You may say you're under 35, but if you wait too long, the fertility process may be more difficult, disappointing, and pricey.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Lauren Ross Ehrhart at CCRM Colorado?
She was sensitive to my journey to get pregnant and didn't brush me off.
Describe the protocols Lauren Ross Ehrhart used in your cycles at CCRM Colorado and their degree of success.
I was 32 at the time and was a good candidate for IUI. Dr. Ehrhart started me with the lowest dose (I don't remember the name of the medication) and only got 1-2 good follicles. At that age, I should be getting more than 8 (if I remember correctly). The first IUI was unsuccessful so she increase the dose for the next IUI to develop more follicles. That did the trick. I was pregnant after the 2nd IUI.

Shawna was direct, but compassionate. She explained procedures very well.
