Attention to Detail

Attention to detail is on a 1 - 10 scale, and is scored based on the rate, and severity, of errors committed by the clinic according to the patients.

For example, a severe error might be failing to inform a patient of critical information, while a small error might be failing to call a patient with results.

CDC Success Rates

This is the most recent data from the CDC. The CDC cautions that it should not be used to compare doctors and clinics. This data represents the outcomes of IVF cycles when using a person's own eggs.

For more information please see our FAQs.

Where you see a “?” on the chart, a clinic has done fewer than 20 cycles in this category and age range, so the CDC says showing percentages from this small data set would be misleading and unreliable.

Success w/ Doc Too early to know
Dr. Gindoff is very honest and candid about the fertility industry and procedures...never out to "rip you off" and was very blunt about my AMH and not in a fear-mongering way...30 years of experience and uses science to back everything up...I appreciate that he didn't want to use drugs initially and we agreed we would change the protocol if we didn't have success...asked him about certain supplements and he's told me that the supplements I've mentioned won't hurt me, but that there isn't any credible studies to back them up. We appreciate the realness.
The nursing staff [at Chelsea Fertility of NYC] can seem a little flustered at times, but never without a smile. They take the time to really explain things to you. I also commend them on their blood draws - I've never had a painful experience with a blood draw from any of the nursing staff. With as many times as you will get poked, this was a big deal for me...small waiting area and sometimes a small wait to be seen.
How was your experience with Paul Gindoff at Chelsea Fertility of NYC?
Dr. Gindoff is very honest and candid about the fertility industry and procedures. He is never out to "rip you off" and was very blunt about my AMH and not in a fear-mongering way. My husband and I appreciate that he has around 30 years of experience and uses science to back everything up. I've asked him about certain supplements and he's told me that the supplements I've mentioned won't hurt me, but that there isn't any credible studies to back them up. We appreciate the realness.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Paul Gindoff at Chelsea Fertility of NYC?
Dr. Gindoff is very candid and trustworthy. He uses science and his years of teaching to back everything he does. Come to your appointments with a list of questions and he will answer them all thoroughly with no sugar coating, which is what you absolutely need during this tough time in your life.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Paul Gindoff at Chelsea Fertility of NYC?
I felt like a human with Dr. Gindoff because he always took his time and explained things to me in a thoughtful manner. I never felt rushed, and he had even extended our meeting time to ensure all of my questions were answered. The staff is always warm and welcoming when you arrive.
Describe the protocols Paul Gindoff used in your cycles at Chelsea Fertility of NYC and their degree of success.
We did an IUI cycle without drugs to increase follicles for our first treatment since I ovulate on my own every month. We triggered with Ovidrel once my follicle was big enough and inseminated the day after trigger. I appreciate that he didn't want to use drugs initially and we agreed we would change the protocol if we didn't have success.

Describe your experience with Chelsea Fertility of NYC.
The strengths of the clinic are the staff and Dr. Gindoff. The weakness is perhaps the small waiting area and sometimes a small wait to be seen. The waiting area is a non-issue for me because I feel like I am in great hands with Dr. Gindoff and his nurses.
Describe the costs associated with your care under Paul Gindoff at Chelsea Fertility of NYC.
My IUI was covered by my insurance and I had a copay of less than $50. The sperm analysis was not covered by insurance and it was under $200. HSG had to be done off-site and insurance covered all but $800 of that test.
Describe Paul Gindoff's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Chelsea Fertility of NYC.
I don't have any comments because we have not done IVF, yet.

Dr. Hartog heard my request, and responded perfectly. I felt heard, and as though the staff cared about our outcome. ... She heard all of my concerns, was able to adjust our plans, and did all my monitoring herself. I felt safe, and like she understood what I was going through. ... She was realistic about my chances, which weren't great, but didn't turn me away despite my age and my history of repeated failures.
It's a small clinic [Chelsea Fertility], they send their lab work out, and there were some hidden fees that I did not anticipate. I am still following up with the lab about billing, as they didn't submit to my insurance. All in all, though, I feel it's worth it for the care that I received. ... I loved the location, the front desk staff, the setting (nice lights, tea, music) and the fact that all procedures are done on site.
How was your experience with Beth Hartog at Chelsea Fertility of NYC?
Dr. Hartog was wonderful. She was realistic about my chances, which weren't great, but didn't turn me away despite my age and my history of repeated failures. She heard all of my concerns, was able to adjust our plans, and did all my monitoring herself. I felt safe, and like she understood what I was going through. That I also found success with her is just the icing on the cake.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Beth Hartog at Chelsea Fertility of NYC?

During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Beth Hartog at Chelsea Fertility of NYC?
I went to Chelsea after a frustrating experience with a huge university clinic. I did not expect success, but was looking to feel like I was cared for, and as though the doctor and staff were invested in my personal outcome. Dr. Hartog heard my request, and responded perfectly. I felt heard, and as though the staff cared about our outcome.
Describe the protocols Beth Hartog used in your cycles at Chelsea Fertility of NYC and their degree of success.
After several failed rounds with estrogen priming at my previous clinic, Dr. Hartog "deprogrammed" me using Ganirelix and progesterone. Then I did lowish dose stims with Follistim and Menopur for a short time - only a week. Triggered with Lupron. She felt that estrogen priming might have over-suppressed me. Though I wound up with fewer embryos ready to transfer than in previous cycles, Dr. Hartog was willing to do the transfer under sedation at my request, which I appreciated. And surprise! It worked.
Describe your experience with the nursing staff at Chelsea Fertility of NYC.
I can't say enough about Elaine, Natasha, and Reena. They were all competent, friendly, caring, and made me feel as though they were personally invested in my outcome. A complete 180 from my experience with the nursing staff at the large clinic. Their skill is part of why I'm now persuaded of the advantages of boutique care.
Describe your experience with Chelsea Fertility of NYC.
I loved the location, the front desk staff, the setting (nice lights, tea, music) and the fact that all procedures are done on site. There were some fees that I didn't anticipate, and I am wrangling with the lab and my insurance company, but overall I felt that the clinic was a wonderful experience. I have sent two friends there already who have shared my frustration with big university clinics.
Describe the costs associated with your care under Beth Hartog at Chelsea Fertility of NYC.
Chelsea took my insurance, which was great. There was a $500 facilities fee that I did not anticipate for the egg retrieval, and I am sorting out the lab billing now, which should have been submitted to my insurance but wasn't.
Describe Beth Hartog's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Chelsea Fertility of NYC.
If I had had a better response, Dr. Hartog would have liked us to let the embryos go to Day 5 and do PGS testing. We wound up with only one still viable on Day 3, and made the call together that day to do the transfer and hope for the best. She actually called me from her car to discuss it. I very much felt like an active participant in my own care, which was great.

She [Dr. Hartog] was the best. My only problem with the experience (so far) was not being able to get her on the phone, I always had to speak to the nurses. But in person she was clear, thoughtful, patient, and knowledgeable.... Because of PCOS, she pretty much insisted on FET as well as ICSI. I loved that she uses only the most current, modern technology available. She made decision making extremely easy.
It [Chelsea Fertility of NYC] is very much a boutique clinic. I liked that everything was laid out on the table financially at the first meeting. There were no surprises and it was all very clear. The consultation was free and I received all the information I needed immediately to make an informed decision....The nurses were wonderful. They were positive, compassionate, and so patient.

Be ready for your appointment- have your questions written down and do your homework ahead of time so you can fully understand the options.

She took my concerns seriously, validated my feelings with past doctors, and was very clear about my options moving forward.
Describe the protocols Beth Hartog used in your cycles at Chelsea Fertility of NYC and their degree of success.
Because of PCOS, she pretty much insisted on FET as well as ICSI. I loved that she uses only the most current, modern technology available. She made decision making extremely easy. We are waiting on genetic testing and will figure out what to transfer and what to save next. The clinic highly recommended the testing which was something I was looking for (ethically).
Describe your experience with your nurse at Chelsea Fertility of NYC. (Assigned nurse: Christina and Elaine )
The nurses were wonderful. They were positive, compassionate, and so patient. They never made me feel self-conscious; I could reach them 24/7; and I always got a thorough answer to my questions. I occasionally wanted to reach the doctor instead, that was my only complaint about this place. But in general, the nurses never steered me wrong.

$9500 for IVF plus apporox $12000 in expenses (medicine, FET, anesthesia, etc)
Describe Beth Hartog's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Chelsea Fertility of NYC.
She allowed multiple transfers, it was really up to me. However I was informed thoroughly of the risk of twins if I wanted to do that.

Dr. Hartog recommended IVF with PGS testing...She emphasized that if we wanted a multiple embryo transfer we would most likely end up with multiples and that it wouldn't increase or decrease our chances of a successful pregnancy...does have a nice bedside manner and does take the time to speak through all of your questions and concerns...She provides a lot of information and most of it can be very clinical and fly over your head quickly.
The nursing staff was helpful and compassionate [at Chelsea Fertility of NYC]...During my HSG exam, the doctor explained a bit of his findings but when I met with Dr. Hartog they had a completely different analysis. They tried to explaine how it meant the same thing, but the whole experience made me feel weary. Additionally, they had ordered a MCAT exam for me without providing the insurance company any specific reason. I was denied coverage 3 times before we could finally get it sorted which I had to facilitate between the clinic and insurance company. Clinic Nps
How was your experience with Beth Hartog at Chelsea Fertility of NYC?
I do think that Dr. Hartog is a good fit for someone looking for one-on-one attention. It's not that I had a bad impression with this doctor, it just didn't feel like the absolute right fit for me. If I'm going to be spending the amount of money that Chelsea Fertility charges, I want to make sure it's the best option.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Beth Hartog at Chelsea Fertility of NYC?
Take notes. She provides a lot of information and most of it can be very clinical and fly over your head quickly.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Beth Hartog at Chelsea Fertility of NYC?
Dr. Hartog does have a nice bedside manner and does take the time to speak through all of your questions and concerns. The whole process is a bit overwhelming so it's hard to look back in hindsight and feel like it was a positive and personal experience.
Describe the protocols Beth Hartog used in your cycles at Chelsea Fertility of NYC and their degree of success.
Dr. Hartog recommended IVF with PGS testing. We are seeking a second opinion and looking at other clinics before proceeding with this treatment.

Describe your experience with Chelsea Fertility of NYC.
Chelsea Fertility is a small intimate setting. I did get the feeling that the cater more towards women in their late 30's / 40's. As someone in their early 30's it didn't feel like I fit in with the normal clientele.
Describe the costs associated with your care under Beth Hartog at Chelsea Fertility of NYC.
Insurance covered most of the testing outside of the HSG. The cost of IVF would have been $20k+

Dr Hartog is very thorough and she takes the time to explain all the details and spends quality time individually with her patients. She answers all the questions and is present at all appointments. She always returns my phone calls and doesn't rush when spoken to...The doctor spends time individually with every patient, personality returns phone calls and is present at all my appointments. My first Mini IVF consisted of Femara/ Menopur/ Ganirelix. The doctor intriduced Ganirelix when my follicles were around 15-16 but the antagonist and Femara suppressed my estrogen too much which resulted in 0 eggs retrieved.
The nurses [at Chelsea Fertility] are amazing and always helpful. They return calls and always happy to help...The clinic and the stuff are great...I believe this clinic consists of an amazing team. During IUI, Dr. Gindoff monitored me every 2 days while on Letrozole and advised me when to do my trigger shot and when to come back in for the IUI...Dr. Gindoff is very knowledgeable and precise. He answers all my questions about "wives tales" and leaves me feeling comfortable. He knows when I am upset & having a bad day and takes me time to explain things to me and comfort me.
If you want a clinic where you feel like a patient and not like a lab rat, go to Chelsea. They are able to spend time with you and better yet remember you. I would take note that most appointments are after 9:30 in the AM and before 2PM so it is not the most convenient if you are working...Chelsea Fertility knows the name the minute you walk into their practice. The entire facility is very personable and it is always easy to get a call back from the doctor or a nurse when you have questions. We are on IUI #3 but always feel at home while at Chelsea.

Dr. Hartog is understanding and loving. She tries to understand what happened in the past and see what she can do. She's willingly to help and succeed in getting you pregnant. Her staff are wonderful have any questions, they are willing to answer. I call the office twice a day if found something in research and ask about it and very understanding and i they don't know the answer they will found out. When my next doctor appointment, they are willginly to over and beyond for their patients.

Doctor [Dr. Gindoff] spent enough time with us to answer our questions in a frank way... He is very knowledgeable but sometimes won’t let you finish your question before answering. He is prepared to find the answer for you. You just need to tell him what you need and he will explain...Low AMH so high doses of menopur and follistim. 8 days of stim. Fresh transfer after 3 days.
Transferred two embryos [at Chelsea Fertility of NYC] due to my age and low AMH levels/probable low egg quality...Busy clinic but mostly on time. The financial team could do a Better job with explaining costs up front. IVF cycle costs are slightly cheaper but there are always ‘add ons’ as you go through the cycle. Reception staff great...Dr Gindoff was absent and we saw his colleague. They provided conflicting information on retrieval for fresh vs frozen transfer.

She [Dr. Beth Hartog] is conservative in the use of medicine...They found water in uterus on egg retrieval and didn’t decide to cancel the transfer. Only when I asked if they would check after the second ivf failure did they find the infection. The dr advised to go ahead with the transfer. Which in my opinion was poor judgment. I lost 3 perfect embryos. I asked them to check if the infection is gone after taking the antibiotics and they didn’t call to tell me that the lab lost th specimen. I am disappointed.
[Chelsea Fertility of NYC was] Friendly and organized. Overall good clinic. I was happy with the clinic. Companionate. When I was feeling ill from an infection they weren’t helpful nor did they call to check on me. They were a wonderful clinic but once I became a cash patient they were not as thorough...She [Dr. Beth Hartog] is conservative in the use of medicine...They found water in uterus on egg retrieval and didn’t decide to cancel the transfer.
