This is the most recent data from the CDC. The CDC cautions that it should not be used to compare doctors and clinics. This data represents the outcomes of IVF cycles when using a person's own eggs.
For more information please see our FAQs.
Where you see a “?” on the chart, a clinic has done fewer than 20 cycles in this category and age range, so the CDC says showing percentages from this small data set would be misleading and unreliable.
Dr Clay is the best. He makes you feel like you are a human and not just another number at the clinic. My husband and I needed to do IUI due to previous cancer treatments and we had to use frozen sperm to achieve pregnancy. I went to another doctor before this and she refused to treat me because of my weight, even though she found nothing wrong with me. I was discouraged until I met Dr Clay who agreed to treat me with Femara.
They [Clinic Sofia] are very organized and are never more than 10 minutes late with appointments. It's a smaller clinic but they have everything right on site, including an ultrasound room and lab that does most tests. Some need to be sent out but you get results back the next day...I took Femara cycle days 3-9, had an ultrasound on day 10 and then did a trigger shot when my follicles were ready (usually day 12). i then had an IUI 24 hours after the trigger shot.
How was your experience with David Clay (OB/GYN) at Clinic Sofia OBGYN?
Dr Clay is compassionate and truly cares about you as a patient. He tailors the treatment to you as an individual and is willing to adjust things as needed. Another doctor had to do my first IUI, due to Dr Clay being out of the office that day having surgery of his own. That night, he called me to ask how the IUI went. I was shocked he called me after he had just had surgery to check on me. I didn't get pregnant that cycle but the following one I did. Dr Clay has seen me at every visit and will also deliver my baby in August

A lot of the services were covered by my insurance but ultrasounds were about $300, IUI was around $300. I didn't spend more than $500 out of pocked for 2 IUI's
Dr. Hammers is extremely intelligent. She knows her stuff and was a life changer for me and my PCOS. I saw other docs and they misdiagnosed me multiple times. Dr. Hammers knew immedialty that the testing was skewed and got me diagnosed correctly and was honest with me about my condition and what i needed to do to achieve pregnancy...I am plus size and Dr. Hammets treated me like a PERSON and not a lost cause because i am overweight...I know for infertility meds you need to be atleast a 40 bmi- for me 275lbs.
I cannot think of anything bad [about Clinic Sofia] - they went out of thier way to make me feel SAFE and welcome- and NORMAL- for a plus size gal- this 100% matters. They even helped me find coupons for not covered medications. They had pharmacists they charged less for expensive meds. They called in meds quickly for easy pick up. The clinic showed me how to administer my own shots so i didnt have to come in for shots. Every call to make an appt was done with ease. This place i have told EVERYONE ABOUT!!!

[Dr. David Clay] is a hidden gem and a great first step for women with fertility issues. Kind, compassionate, great listener, knowledgeable...is kind, listens carefully, takes time to understand concerns, respected our preferences without judgement...welcomes any questions...Letrozole with Ovidrel, iui, and timed intercourse
[Clinic Sofia is] very nice, easy to get to, well staffed, welcoming. Front desk staff does an overall great job. Lab staff are great. Scheduling was overall relatively easy. Never terribly difficult to get an appointment...Kind, caring, helpful. Sometimes weren't fully aware of the situation or miscommunicated something minor but overall they were great.

Five stars for Dr Clay. He is a hidden gem and a great first step for women with fertility issues. Kind, compassionate, great listener, knowledgeable. Him and his wife also had an infertility journey (published on the Sofia website) that I think helps him relate to his patients.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of David Clay (OB/GYN) at Clinic Sofia OBGYN?
Applicable to working with any fertility treatment, not just Dr Clay: educate yourself about the risks of multiples based on the number of mature follicles at the time of ovulation. If you want a singleton at all costs, it can be accomplished by skipping cycles with 2-3 or more mature follicles, and working with him to change your letrozole or clomid dosing carefully so you get only 1 in the future. You just need to be a bit more patient. More cycles will be required before a pregnancy, but well worth it in our opinion (we really did not want twins due to increased risks). https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC7183886/ and https://www.fertstert.org/article/S0015-0282(18)30695-2/fulltext

Describe the protocols David Clay (OB/GYN) used in your cycles at Clinic Sofia OBGYN and their degree of success.
Letrozole with Ovidrel, iui, and timed intercourse. Reasoning: letrozole has better risk/reward profile for most, PCOS responds well to iui cycles with letrozole and ovidrel.

Describe the costs associated with your care under David Clay (OB/GYN) at Clinic Sofia OBGYN.
Somewhere around $200-$300 per IUI (vs $3-5k per IUI at local IVF clinic). Plus ultrasound and medication costs, which were covered by our insurance after we met our deductible. Prior to meeting deductible, costs were reasonable.
