Attention to Detail

Attention to detail is on a 1 - 10 scale, and is scored based on the rate, and severity, of errors committed by the clinic according to the patients.

For example, a severe error might be failing to inform a patient of critical information, while a small error might be failing to call a patient with results.

CDC Success Rates

This is the most recent data from the CDC. The CDC cautions that it should not be used to compare doctors and clinics. This data represents the outcomes of IVF cycles when using a person's own eggs.

For more information please see our FAQs.

Where you see a “?” on the chart, a clinic has done fewer than 20 cycles in this category and age range, so the CDC says showing percentages from this small data set would be misleading and unreliable.

Dr. Robles was very thoughtful throughout the care...he tried to attend as many of the visits and procedures...thoroughly answered my questions and explained options and results to me...was a great communicator and put us at ease...made sure that the treatment we were getting was customized to our needs
moved to Columbia and was thoroughly impressed with the care, the staff...really helped make me feel at ease and helped through some issues around receiving medications and other questions...area of opportunities I would say is enabling patients to see their lab results themselves
How was your experience with Alex Robles at Columbia University?
As mentioned in my previous comment, we were very appreciative our care with Dr. Robles. He was a great communicator and put us at ease during a time that can be quite stressful. You could also tell that he truly cared about us as his patients and made sure that the treatment we were getting was customized to our needs. He was also very good about thoughtfully answering our questions and clearly explaining different steps.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Alex Robles at Columbia University?
Definitely go see him!
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Alex Robles at Columbia University?
Dr. Robles was very thoughtful throughout the care. While very busy, he tried to attend as many of the visits and procedures as we could and also thoroughly answered my questions and explained options and results to me.
Describe your experience with your nurse at Columbia University. (Assigned nurse: Haley Roche and Sophie Clark)
All of staff that worked with Dr. Robles were great. They also really helped make me feel at ease and helped through some issues around receiving medications and other questions. Really appreciate them!
Describe your experience with Columbia University.
I had used another clinic for my first pregnancy and, while it turned out to be successful I had some concerns with the experience. I then moved to Columbia and was thoroughly impressed with the care, the staff, and Dr. Robles. I will plan to go there for future transfers and look forward to recommending it to all friends going through fertility treatments. My only area of opportunities I would say is enabling patients to see their lab results themselves vs. only through communication from the nursing team would be very nice for those that like to review their results. Additionally, there were a few times where I did ask non-urgent questions and did not end up receiving answers. Again nothing that took away from the care, but areas that I would say could be improved.
Describe the costs associated with your care under Alex Robles at Columbia University.
My treatment was covered by insurance - but I did need to pay for copays for each visit and then for PGT-A.
Describe Alex Robles's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Columbia University.
We did eSET, which is what we wanted so multiple embryo transfer was not discussed

Dr. Forman always showed compassion and understanding...made sure we were aware of the potential outcomes...had realistic expectations throughout the process...took the time to explain the X linked genetic disorder I had and how to minimize the possibility of passing it to my children
[Columbia University is] Very nice clinic, feels new and sanitary...weakness...at times, they would be very busy and appointments would be running behind so there would be a bit of a wait...majority of the time, I would be in and out in 15-20minutes...Nursing staff were very supportive during the process
How was your experience with Eric Forman at Columbia University?
While Dr. Forman always showed compassion and understanding, he also made sure we were aware of the potential outcomes and had realistic expectations throughout the process which was very helpful during this rollercoaster of a journey. He took the time to explain the X linked genetic disorder I had and how to minimize the possibility of passing it to my children. Dr. Forman also made himself available to answer any questions during the process and was extremely prompt in responding to emails. I liked being able to contact him directly for certain things.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Eric Forman at Columbia University?
He does not make any promises and give unrealistic hopes, but he is positive and encouraging. Our outcomes were very much in line with what he had predicted given our case so even certain difficult news were not necessarily surprises.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Eric Forman at Columbia University?
I received personalized care, and all pertinent information was communicated to me personally by Dr. Forman and he took the time to answer my questions while always remembering the details about our case and our goals.
Describe the protocols Eric Forman used in your cycles at Columbia University and their degree of success.
Leading up to the egg retrieval, we did stims which were adjusted after a few bloodwork appointments. Then for frozen embryo transfer, he walked me through the various options and suggested that I am a good candidate for modified natural so I did not take additional medication that weren't necessary for my case. That was very appreciated.
Describe your experience with the nursing staff at Columbia University.
Nursing staff were very supportive during the process. Typically after a bloodwork and/or ultrasound appointment, the nurse emailed the results. It was timely and with plenty of information and instructions. If I had follow-up questions, they were prompt to respond but I rarely had any questions as the emails were thorough. They also included encouraging language and smiley faces when warranted.
Describe your experience with Columbia University.
Very nice clinic, feels new and sanitary. It is also in a good location which is easy to access. One weakness is at times, they would be very busy and appointments would be running behind so there would be a bit of a wait. However, majority of the time, I would be in and out in 15-20minutes. This is important as it can be a very time consuming process and stressful to manage the calendar if you have a job or other obligations.
Describe the costs associated with your care under Eric Forman at Columbia University.
Columbia/Dr. Forman were in network for my health insurance and I had fertility benefit so the out of pocket costs were minimal.
Describe Eric Forman's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Columbia University.
We wanted single embryo transfer and he supported that approach given the research.

Dr. Wiltshire was very kind and helpful throughout this process...explained what the process would look like to the plan of action...addressed all of my concerns and answered every question...2 powder vials of Menopur and 150 units of Gonal. Don't quote me, but I believe 1 Ganirelix was added to the rotation close to the start of week 2, all to stimulate follicle growth. Lupron 4 mg 2 nights before my retrieval
[Columbia University] was efficient regarding time...I feel that something that could be worked on is the scheduling of doctors to their patients...Kate was really great as she was the one primarily giving me my medication instructions everyday...Lauren was my care coordinator and she was helpful from the start. Always pleasant to talk to and super patient
How was your experience with Ashley Wiltshire at Columbia University?
Dr. Wiltshire was very kind and helpful throughout this process. She explained what the process would look like to the plan of action and was happy to take more time to discuss. She addressed all of my concerns and answered every question I had. She had a very positive take on all of it and that eased my nerves for sure. My experience as a patient was good. Going into this I was nervous because I didn't totally know what to expect, but I felt that I was being taken care of. Getting blood drawn every other day can be irritating, but it is a part of the process so I was not mad at it. I was very supported at home, but also felt equipped with resources at the clinic that could support me as well. It was a great experience for me.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Ashley Wiltshire at Columbia University?
She's pushing for your success!
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Ashley Wiltshire at Columbia University?
I very much felt like a human because Dr. Wiltshire and her team always answered when I asked. Going into this process, I had A LOT of questions, even had questions that I didn't think I would have. This wasn't an issue because whenever I needed separate time with Dr. Wiltshire or a quick call with my nurse, it wasn't a problem and I didn't feel like a bother. There was also a situation where I wanted to pause the process and I was assured that however and when I wanted to start, was totally up to me. That was super important because an egg freezing cycle has the potential to become high pressure, but I felt very comfortable. Dr. Wiltshire has a very pleasant bedside manner and is super helpful and accommodating and I would recommend her and her team again and again!

Describe your experience with your nurse at Columbia University. (Assigned nurse: Katherine Klinger/Lauren Rosero)
Kate was really great as she was the one primarily giving me my medication instructions everyday. She was very detailed and made sure I understood everything before I needed to take my dosage. Lauren was my care coordinator and she was helpful from the start. Always pleasant to talk to and super patient.
Describe your experience with Columbia University.
I believe that the clinic was efficient regarding time. I had to come in pretty frequently for monitoring and I hardly waited more than 5-10 minutes and when I was seen, I was in and out. I think that part is down to a science. I feel that something that could be worked on is the scheduling of doctors to their patients. I understand it isn't able to happen every time, but think it could be more frequently.
Describe the costs associated with your care under Ashley Wiltshire at Columbia University.
Because this was not covered under my insurance, but a reimbursement program, I had to pay the out of pocket package cost of $8K. Anesthesia and medication was an additional $4K.

Dr. Insogna is thoughtful, kind, patient, extremely well informed, and cares deeply for her patients...recommended IVF and laparoscopic GYN-surgery to have the hydrosalpinx removed...set appropriate expectations and was there to answer questions every step of the way
At Columbia, each patient has a single doctor overseeing their care, but the doctor performing the retrieval or transfer varies based on who is on the schedule for procedures on the day you are ready...All receptionists, embryologists, doctors, nurses and phlebotomists were kind, caring and optimistic
How was your experience with Iris Insogna at Columbia University?
Dr. Insogna is thoughtful, kind, patient, extremely well informed, and cares deeply for her patients. She gives her patients the information and data they need to make the best decision for them. She always made her recommendation clear but indicated that she would be supportive if I was not ready to take a step right away. It always felt like we were a team. I first saw Dr. Insogna in March 2023 for an initial fertility consultation. Things looked good, despite one hormone being a little low, and we began trying to conceive shortly after. After 7 months without success, my husband returned for a consultation and no issues were detected. We met with Dr. Insogna who shared she was optimistic and thought it would only be a matter of time, but still offered the option to complete HSG testing to examine by tubes and uterus. Unfortunately, the HSG testing revealed tubal blockages on both side with a hydrosalpinx in one tube. Dr. Insogna recommended IVF and laparoscopic GYN-surgery to have the hydrosalpinx removed. While selecting a surgeon that I felt comfortable with, we kicked our an egg retrieval. IVF is not the most fun process but Dr. Insogna set appropriate expectations and was there to answer questions every step of the way. At Columbia, each patient has a single doctor overseeing their care, but the doctor performing the retrieval or transfer varies based on who is on the schedule for procedures on the day you are ready. I had an egg retrieval in February 2024 (retrieval conducted by Dr. Forman), surgery in March 2024 (not conducted at Columbia Fertility) and a transfer of one embryo in May 2024 (conducted by Dr. Robles) after recovering from surgery. I am now 9 weeks pregnant and hopeful for the best. We are so grateful to Dr. Insogna and the team at Columbia. All receptionists, embryologists, doctors, nurses and phlebotomists were kind, caring and optimistic.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Iris Insogna at Columbia University?
Share all of your concerns and ask all your questions!
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Iris Insogna at Columbia University?
Dr. Insogna treated me with the utmost respect and care throughout our time working together. She was extremely patient, made herself available to address my concerns before after and during procedures, and treated all of my concerns as valid. She was also extremely knowledgeable and shared the stats and research to go along with each recommendation. I really appreciated that she gave me the information I needed to make an informed decision at every step on the process.
Describe your experience with Columbia University.
At first, I was put off that I would not see my doctor for every scan. But as I went through the many appointments required in an IVF and transfer cycle, I was grateful for Columbia's easy scheduling for morning monitoring and pooled doctors for procedures so that somebody was always available.

[Dr. Jenna Turocy] is caring, compassionate and delicate...am 51 today but once I read her publications and accomplishments I knew she will help me in this process...took the time to reply to my questions. Once the first transfer failed she took the whole work in her hands on the second transfer
[Columbia University] is very clean. They have various nurses for blood work and more. The waiting time is short...nurses ready for help from medication, to blood work and mote...will follow with the results the same day...spent about $55000 for this process...quality of services and my baby worth the price I paid
How was your experience with Jenna Turocy at Columbia University?
Dr Turocy is a fertility doctor at Columbia. I have a positive Ivf procedure at 51. The first time I met her after 2 failed Ivf in Spain, I knew I found my helper. She is caring, compassionate and delicate. She will not only check on me after a positive pregnancy but walked with me at 7:30 am in the morning to give me some advices to fight the morning sickness. I truly recommend her as your next fertility doctor.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Jenna Turocy at Columbia University?
Please ask Dr Turocy to follow all the steps of the procedure
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Jenna Turocy at Columbia University?
The first I met Dr Turocy in February 2023, I knew she will help me to have my miracle baby. I am 51 today but once I read her publications and accomplishments I knew she will help me in this process. She took the time to reply to my questions. Once the first transfer failed she took the whole work in her hands on the second transfer. Even when I have a positive pregnancy she was there from phone calls to e-mails. She went over the challenge to her the heart beat of my baby before I graduated from the clinic. I don’t have the words to express the joy I felt when I heard this heart beat 4 times. I truly recommend Dr Turocy for fertility procedure. It’s a very exhausting process an a patient need to work with a caring doctor like Dr. Turocy.
Describe your experience with your nurse at Columbia University. (Assigned nurse: Joseph Sakari)
Every time I need help on medication, she will make a quick to the Dr for clarification. Dr Turocy will call right the way. Every time I went for bloodwork or scan . She will follow with the results the same day.
Describe your experience with Columbia University.
The office is very clean. They have various nurses for blood work and more. The waiting time is short. Dr Turocy was very delicate and focus. The nurses ready for help from medication, to blood work and mote
Describe the costs associated with your care under Jenna Turocy at Columbia University.
It is very pricey for middle class family. I spent about $55000 for this process compared to $9000 in Spain. The quality of services and my baby worth the price I paid

Dr. Brady was pleasant and easy to communicate with via email...appreciate blunt doctors with bedside manners and that’s Dr.Brady...no communication regarding what shoes would be like when I was in clinic. For example, that a different doctor would be doing my scans. I expected to meet with my doctor
[Columbia University are] great and get the job done. I’d you’re looking for a smaller office with a warmer feel I wouldn’t go here...staff at the white plains location was so friendly and warm but I can’t say the same for the Manhattan location...Angela aaa a great nurse and was easy to communicate with via email.
How was your experience with Paula Brady at Columbia University?
Dr. Brady was pleasant and easy to communicate with via email. I appreciate blunt doctors with bedside manners and that’s Dr.Brady. There was no communication regarding what shoes would be like when I was in clinic. For example, that a different doctor would be doing my scans. I expected to meet with my doctor and was ok not to but a heads up about that would have been appreciated. That’s my only complaint though which is not a large one.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Paula Brady at Columbia University?
Dr. Brady is great, when you finally get to meet her. There is a lot of changing of doctors which I guess is expected during treatment but this should have been communicated.
Describe the protocols Paula Brady used in your cycles at Columbia University and their degree of success.
Natural IVF cycle. Progesterone and bloodwork. I had the option to choose my cycle.
Describe your experience with your nurse at Columbia University. (Assigned nurse: Nurse was Angela and coordinator was Diamond )
Angela aaa a great nurse and was easy to communicate with via email. I recieved most my treatment at the White Plains location where the staff was absolutely phenomenal. I almost switched clinics due to my coordinator, Diamond. She was unpleasant and very cold whenever we spoke. I always had to reach out to her to schedule appointments because she never reaches out to me as I was told she would. The staff at the white plains location were so nice I decided to stay.
Describe your experience with Columbia University.
They’re great and get the job done. I’d you’re looking for a smaller office with a warmer feel I wouldn’t go here. It’s not for everyone but I trusted my doctor and would return. The staff at the white plains location was so friendly and warm but I can’t say the same for the Manhattan location. Overall, it was a good experience and I ended up with the results I wanted. The biggest down fall was the care coordinator, Diamond. But I never saw her so it was no big deal.

Dr. Brady is a caring and compassionate doctor... chemotherapy...was reassuring, knowedgable, and optimistic, while also being candid about the odds of success...communicated clearly and frequently with me and my husband...She also attended both egg retrievals and our transfer...modified the IVF protocol to enhance our odds
[At Columbia University] Everyone from the phlebotomists to the receptionists were friendly and efficient...responsiveness was greatly appreciated...Angela is a great nurse. We communicated primarily over email and over the phone about the medication protocol. She was always professional, warm, and knowledgable.
How was your experience with Paula Brady at Columbia University?
My husband and I had a consulatation with Dr. Brady soon after I completed chemotherapy. We came to Dr. Brady worn out after my cancer treatment and fearful-- there was a 50/50 chance the chemotherapy I received would cause early menopause. Also, the first reproductive endocrinologist we worked with at a different Manhattan clinic told me after our first egg retrieval that we should consider an egg donor. Ouch. Thankfully, we found Dr. Brady through a referall from Memorial Sloan Kettering. She was highly recommened to us and is one of best doctors I've ever had (it's a short list). During my time with Dr. Brady she was reassuring, knowedgable, and optimistic, while also being candid about the odds of success. During each step of the process Dr. Brady communicated clearly and frequently with me and my husband. Luckily, my schedule allowed for me to schedule many of my embryo transfer cycle montiring appointments with Dr. Brady. She also attended both egg retrievals and our transfer. Having that continuity of care made me feel reassured and confident. I trust Dr. Brady and her medical advice implicitly. There were so many instances where Dr. Brady went above and beyond to ensure that we would be scheduled with her for important moments, which I greatly appreciated. She modified the IVF protocol to enhance our odds, and if there was something I wanted to do that wouldn't work, she explained why it wasn't the best thing for me. And it worked! I just "graduated" from the IVF program and I am 11 weeks pregnant. It all feels like a miracle.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Paula Brady at Columbia University?
Dr. Brady is an amazing doctor. I would recommend her to anyone, especially former cancer patients. If you feel unsure or concerned, ask questions.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Paula Brady at Columbia University?
Dr. Brady is a caring and compassionate doctor. She is easy to connect with person-to-person and her bedside manner is warm and friendly. Dr. Brady listened to all of my concerns and questions and answered each and every one-- in person during exams, over email, on video consult-- in a warm, thorough, and thoughtful manner. I felt that my concerns and questions were taken seriously and that Dr. Brady expressed empathy and patience when I felt stressed and worried. Best of all she celebrated our wins with us and helped to make our transfer day feel special. I expected the embryo transfer procedure to feel clinical and sterile, but it was a beautiful and moving day that my husband and I will cherish.
Describe your experience with your nurse at Columbia University. (Assigned nurse: Angela)
Angela is a great nurse. We communicated primarily over email and over the phone about the medication protocol. She was always professional, warm, and knowledgable. One instance that stands out is a phone call we had close to Christmas. We were starting the progesterone shots and felt a bit intimidated by it all. Angela walked us through the procedure over the phone and answered all of our questions. Angela was responsive to my questions and concerns and always returned with a response in a timely manner. If she was out of the office, the nurse covering her was equally as responsive and professional. Dr. Brady's support staff was wonderful as well.
Describe your experience with Columbia University.
I had a great experience at CUFC. The Columbus Circle location is busy but efficient. I was always able to get an appointment at my prefered time and it was easy to schedule or modify appointments online. Everyone from the phlebotomists to the receptionists were friendly and efficient. I prefered the White Plains location because it was quieter and intimate, but just as efficient and professional. I found the staff in White Plains to be extremely warm and welcoming. Strengths: the on-call doctors assigned to the after hours number were always helpful. I had to call several times and the responsiveness was greatly appreciated. At the Columbus Circle location they play instrumental covers of pop songs a la Bridgerton. It was always fun to sit in the waiting room and try to figure out what I was listening to. "Is that an all violin version of 'Womanizer' by Britney Spears?"
Describe Paula Brady's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Columbia University.
Due to my medical history (age, cancer treatment) I wasn't eligible for a multiple embryo transfer (and I didn't want that anyway).

[Dr. Sinem Karipcin] was very validating and took us seriously during the first appointment...tested hcg, progesterone and TSH levels. I asked to be put on progesterone, and I was put on Synthroid for slightly elevated TSH during pregnancy...did not test for blood clotting disorders, endometritis, endometriosis...full thyroid panel, other autoimmune disorders associated with loss
[Columbia University] Wait time wasn’t bad when I went in person. Don’t be afraid to do a few consults with multiple doctors...nurse did not call or email me with blood test results to confirm appropriately rising hcg levels. I had to follow up a few times via phone call
How was your experience with Sinem Karipcin at Columbia University?
Went to Dr. K after two pregnancy losses, knowing that something did not feel right. She was very validating and took us seriously during the first appointment. She said she would do an RPL panel work up, including an HSG and ultrasound. I got pregnant naturally shortly after testing was completed. Dr. K insisted everything looked normal, even though I questioned some of the test results based on previous ultrasounds and testing. She breezed through the review of test results, and seemed annoyed when I asked her for weekly early pregnancy scans. Each scan was 3 minutes or less, Dr. K even telling me once that “I should be happy to get pregnant this way” as she walked out the door after a scan. She made me feel like my concerns and worries during the third pregnancy weren’t valid. I found out I lost that third pregnancy at 12 weeks. I met with her once afterward, for her to then suggest a couple additional tests? I was and still am furious those tests were not run to begin with as part of the RPL work up.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Sinem Karipcin at Columbia University?
Don’t go to her unless you feel like you have no other option.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Sinem Karipcin at Columbia University?
Consult appointment was good, very empathetic. Went downhill from there, Dr. K was constantly out of the office for days at a time and my questions were always directed back to her. I got pregnant naturally right after my recurrent pregnancy loss workup, and Dr. K acted like the weekly ultrasounds I requested were an inconvenience for her. She was in and out within 3 minutes, and answered our questions in a condescending manner.
Describe the protocols Sinem Karipcin used in your cycles at Columbia University and their degree of success.
Recurrent pregnancy loss panel, suspected PCOS and endometriosis. Tested: AMH, check tubes are open (HSG), follicle count (ultrasound), STDs, glucose, insulin resistance, TSH, karyotyping, CBC. For some reason, Dr. K did not test for blood clotting disorders, endometritis, endometriosis (can be seen on an MRI with the right doctor or technician), full thyroid panel, other autoimmune disorders associated with loss. I have since learned many other doctors test for these in their RPL workups. In early pregnancy, Dr. K tested hcg, progesterone and TSH levels. I asked to be put on progesterone, and I was put on Synthroid for slightly elevated TSH during pregnancy. Pregnancy resulted in a loss, missed miscarriage at 12 weeks (fetus stopped growing at 10 wks)
Describe your experience with your nurse at Columbia University. (Assigned nurse: Sam)
Worked with Sam for any immediate or urgent concerns, although she often deferred to Dr. K who was hard to reach. Nursing staff who shared my blood test results during pregnancy were good, quick and responsive, for the most part. A couple delays in sharing results which was anxiety inducing especially when pregnant after loss.
Describe your experience with Columbia University.
Earlier start times result in earlier office end times for appointments and getting in touch with their staff. One phlebotomist there was awful, I normally have no issues with blood draws but I ultimately made sure not to get her anymore when I went. Wait time wasn’t bad when I went in person. Don’t be afraid to do a few consults with multiple doctors.
Describe the costs associated with your care under Sinem Karipcin at Columbia University.
Diagnostic testing (RPL panel), early pregnancy monitoring covered under my insurance. Paid for insurance co-pays. Some of the services were coded such that the diagnostic testing was put toward my insurance’s lifetime fertility benefits, definitely keep this in mind and see if the doctor can code such that insurance fertility benefits remain for actual fertility treatments rather than diagnostic testing.
Describe Sinem Karipcin's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Columbia University.

Describe the specific things that went wrong at Columbia University.
During pregnancy, nurse did not call or email me with blood test results to confirm appropriately rising hcg levels. I had to follow up a few times via phone call, and then again to make sure they emailed me a record of the blood test results after they told me over the phone.

When I had concerns about an upcoming transfer, [Dr. Eric Forman] personally did my scan and addressed any concerns I had...1 retrieval cycle...recommended estrogen priming and once I started stims, it was clomid, gonal, and menopur...Dr.Forman is in favor of eSET.
CUFU is a busy IVF clinic...never waited more then 15mins to be seen. Everyone there is nice and efficient...you can schedule your appointments on mychart....communication via email which is great...Christine was reachable by email to answer any questions and her instructions were clear and easy to understand
How was your experience with Eric Forman at Columbia University?
When I had concerns about an upcoming transfer, he personally did my scan and addressed any concerns I had. You don't always see your doctor during morning monitoring but if there is a concern, he will try to address it as soon as possible.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Eric Forman at Columbia University?
You are in good hands with Dr.Forman. He truly cares about his patients and will tell you what he thinks are the best treatment options.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Eric Forman at Columbia University?
Dr.Forman is very responsive. He is easily reached via email when I had questions/concerns.
Describe the protocols Eric Forman used in your cycles at Columbia University and their degree of success.
I did 1 retrieval cycle at Columbia. Dr.Forman recommended estrogen priming and once I started stims, it was clomid, gonal, and menopur. My doses for gonal and menopur weren't as high as my previous retrievals from a different clinic. His reason for estrogen priming was to try to get the follicles to grow at the same pace to hopefully get more mature eggs.
Describe your experience with your nurse at Columbia University. (Assigned nurse: Christine)
Christine was reachable by email to answer any questions and her instructions were clear and easy to understand.
Describe your experience with Columbia University.
CUFU is a busy IVF clinic but I never waited more then 15mins to be seen. Everyone there is nice and efficient. I also like how you can schedule your appointments on mychart. They do most of their communication via email which is great, no need to play phone tag and wait for a call back.
Describe your experience with your monitoring appointments at Columbia University.
They had multiple times for morning monitoring. I think they start at 7am- 11am for morning monitoring. They're efficient, I don't think I waited more then 15mins for morning monitoring.
Describe the costs associated with your care under Eric Forman at Columbia University.
I was self pay for retrieval with pgt and transfer cycle. I retrieval cycle cost about 15K, pgt was 300 per embryo, retrival meds were 4k, transfer cycle was 5k.
Describe Eric Forman's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Columbia University.
Dr.Forman is in favor of eSET.

Dr. Brady is caring and brilliant...explained the egg freezing process simply and clearly to me and answered all my questions...was patient and nothing ever felt rushed...so attentive and accessible: she would respond promptly to all my many initial questions...made key strategic and personalized decisions throughout the process on my dosages
Columbia was absolutely phenomenal...facilities are clean and state of the art, and every single nurse and staff member...was incredibly compassionate, patient, and smart...made me feel cared for and when I was nervous, the nurses would crack jokes to make me feel more comfortable.
How was your experience with Paula Brady at Columbia University?
Dr. Brady is caring and brilliant. In my initial consultation with her, Dr. Brady explained the egg freezing process simply and clearly to me and answered all my questions (and I had many!). My father (who is also a physician) joined the initial consultation call, and she answered all his questions as well. She was patient and nothing ever felt rushed with her. My father noted to me after the call that he found her to be very impressive and kind. From start to finish of the egg freezing process, Dr. Brady was so attentive and accessible: she would respond promptly to all my many initial questions about which vegan prenatal vitamins are best to use and which skincare was OK for me to use during the egg freezing process. She also made key strategic and personalized decisions throughout the process on my dosages, how much further to push, and which trigger to take. I know she has a very busy practice and so many patients, but she was so accessible and responsive that she made me feel like I was her only patient. Since my actual retrieval day fell on a weekend, another doctor (Dr. Bishop--who was absolutely amazing) did my retrieval. Thanks to Dr. Brady's key strategic decisions and personalized dosing plan for me, I obtained an excellent result especially for a 35.5 year-old: 23 retrieved eggs, 22 of which were mature. The process was seamless for me--I never had physical discomfort or any mental health issues throughout my egg freezing journey thankfully. I think that is due in part to Dr. Brady's excellent dosing and her and her team's care.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Paula Brady at Columbia University?
Don't hesitate to reach out to her with any questions--she responds to emails quickly and is very patient!
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Paula Brady at Columbia University?
Dr. Brady is a warm and approachable person with excellent bedside manner. Everything felt personalized with her. In the initial consultation, Dr. Brady explained the process so well to me and answered all my questions. Describe your experience with your nurse at Columbia University. (Assigned nurse: Angela Pugliese)
Nurse Pugliese was excellent. She was thorough and responsive, sending me instructions for the next day on time and answering any questions I had. She took the time out of her busy schedule to have a couple phone calls with me to discuss my questions.
Describe your experience with Columbia University.
Columbia was absolutely phenomenal. The clinic facilities are clean and state of the art, and every single nurse and staff member I interacted with there was incredibly compassionate, patient, and smart. No issues at all. They all made me feel cared for and when I was nervous, the nurses would crack jokes to make me feel more comfortable.

[Dr. Sinem Karipcin] is a super positive doctor, and she always has a smile...same sex couple with no infertility...answers emails quickly and is really good at listening to what you...willing to move as quickly as you want to...did RIVF...got 25 eggs, all mature, 19 fertilized, and 12 great embryos...I’m currently 11 weeks
[Columbia University] a well-oiled machine...location is easy if you live on the west side of Manhattan...pricing is very straightforward...only issue is: they definitely do run behind on procedure days occasionally, leaving lots of people with full bladders...Everyone was prompt, kind, and clear. Our only issue was with billing
How was your experience with Sinem Karipcin at Columbia University?
Dr. K is a super positive doctor, and she always has a smile. To be fair, we had a very easy time with IVF as a same sex couple with no infertility, but it’s still not a fun process. She answers emails quickly and is really good at listening to what you as the patient want, while also balancing her knowledge of what works. She’s willing to move as quickly as you want to, which was important to us
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Sinem Karipcin at Columbia University?
Just make sure you’re ok working with an optimist! If you’re someone who prefers a pessimist, she’s not your doc.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Sinem Karipcin at Columbia University?
Dr. K got to know us very well, very quickly and responded to our particular desires for family building, and tried to save us money along the way!
Describe the protocols Sinem Karipcin used in your cycles at Columbia University and their degree of success.
So we did RIVF. My wife’s egg retrieval was a pretty standard stim cycle of 150 menopur/150 follistim plus ganirilex. She stimmed for only 7 days at which point we got the ok to trigger! We got 25 eggs, all mature, 19 fertilized, and 12 great embryos! Dr. K did not recommend ICSI or PGT testing due to our background, and I really appreciate that decision (saved us money and wouldn’t have helped our success rates). For my first FET, we tried a medicated cycle due to my short luteal phase and that was unsuccessful. She immediately wanted to try a natural FET with PIO and that was the winning combination. I’m currently 11 weeks
Describe your experience with your nurse at Columbia University. (Assigned nurse: Katrina Leong )
We had a few different people email us at points. Everyone was prompt, kind, and clear. Our only issue was with billing (Jenna is extremely nice but you need to be on her!)
Describe your experience with Columbia University.
Columbia is able to move and groove! We did our consult in July and we’re doing a FET by October. It’s a well-oiled machine. The location is easy if you live on the west side of Manhattan. The pricing is very straightforward. My only issue is: they definitely do run behind on procedure days occasionally, leaving lots of people with full bladders. The other thing (this was a pro for me) is they don’t give you your full lab values. Just “good”. I feel like this helped my anxiety, but if you like to know, you won’t like this.
Describe the costs associated with your care under Sinem Karipcin at Columbia University.
Insurance covers very little for us (not infertile, just gay), so total out of pocket for the egg retrieval (including donor sperm) was around 15k. My two transfers were another 6k. Basic testing was another 5k.
Describe Sinem Karipcin's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Columbia University.
Dr. K made it VERY clear from our consult that we would only do a single embryo transfer. She reiterated this at several points. We had no issue (no desire to risk twins).

Dr. K [Karipcin] is very knowledgable and stays on top of the latest research and methods in the field...thyroid problems...visits were sometimes pretty quick, we could always follow up with questions. [Columbia University has] a fast paced setting...will likely see different nurses/practitioners for each of your bloodwork/ultrasound visits...may sometimes feel a bit impersonal, but it's not unusual for a research clinic/hospital...Katrina is very warm and detailed...clinic has manuals for all the steps of the process, but Katrina always personalized her communication with us.
How was your experience with Sinem Karipcin at Columbia University?
Dr. K is very knowledgable and stays on top of the latest research and methods in the field. As I have thyroid problems, I appreciate her holistic, methodical approach. She has the right combination of scientific focus and care. While the visits were sometimes pretty quick, we could always follow up with questions. Dr. K provided detailed responses even on the weekends. The clinic scheduled another doctor to do our transfer, so we were particularly moved that Dr. K came in on her day off and did the transfer. Overall, Dr. K is very dedicated, and we felt we could trust her.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Sinem Karipcin at Columbia University?
If you have any questions, no matter how small or silly, it's easy to go down the internet rabbit hole. Instead, don't be afraid to ask Dr. K. She is very steeped in all the latest trends and research. We had lots of questions, so we suggest compiling your questions vs sending many individual emails. Dr. K will respond providing a detailed answer(s) in a timely manner.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Sinem Karipcin at Columbia University?
We have worked with two other doctors before meeting Dr. K. Our previous experiences gave us a grasp of the process and methods used at different clinics. While Columbia is a busy place, Dr. K and her team always showed immense care and paid attention to the details of our case across all three cycles. We trusted Dr. K's expertise and we appreciated that she was always hopeful and remained positive even when our results were suboptimal.
Describe the protocols Sinem Karipcin used in your cycles at Columbia University and their degree of success.
The clinic favors a protocol, but Dr. K made changes to it with each cycle. We did Clomid+an antagonist cycle adjusting meds each time. Two of our cycles were DuoStim.
Describe your experience with your nurse at Columbia University. (Assigned nurse: Katrina Leong)
Katrina is very warm and detailed. The clinic has manuals for all the steps of the process, but Katrina always personalized her communication with us. If there were any problems, she was also available by phone. Samantha, the care coordinator, was very efficient. While once or twice there were issues with our meds order, the team made sure to address them quickly.
Describe your experience with Columbia University.
It's a fast paced setting. You will likely see different nurses/practitioners for each of your bloodwork/ultrasound visits. Your doctor will review the results in the afternoon and email you. This may sometimes feel a bit impersonal, but it's not unusual for a research clinic/hospital. In return for this small inconvenience, you will have access to some of the best doctors/medical teams in the city.
Describe the costs associated with your care under Sinem Karipcin at Columbia University.
Everything except the PGT-A tests ($2.5k) was covered through my insurance.
Describe Sinem Karipcin's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Columbia University.
Our understanding is that the clinic does single embryo transfers only.

Doctor Bishop was very patient and a good communicator...adjusted the treatment a few times and each time we saw improved results...took the time to explain the procedures substantiated by latest research...third time we transferred two and now we are 12 weeks pregnant...called the insurance and advocated on our part and we ended up doing ICSI and the insurance covering it
[Columbia University] seems small initially, but looking back maybe it is just the right size. Your assigned doctor is in charge of all your treatment adjustments but in the process you see many other doctors. Everything is very clean and high tech. Sometimes the waiting time for ultrasounds is not consistent.
How was your experience with Lauren Bishop at Columbia University?
Doctor Bishop was very patient and a good communicator throughout the process. She also adjusted the treatment a few times and each time we saw improved results, with our first egg retrieval we only had one embryo to transfer, while with our second one we got 5. I believe I was a tough patient, with a lot of opinions, but doctor Bishop took the time to explain the procedures substantiated by latest research. My insurance didn't cover ICSI (2 subpar sperm samples were required), so we weren't planning to do it, however the sample collected on the day of the egg retrieval/fertilization was subpar. Doctor Bishop called the insurance and advocated on our part and we ended up doing ICSI and the insurance covering it. She cares a lot about her patients.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Lauren Bishop at Columbia University?
Please feel free to ask any questions you may have, she also answers emails fast and thoroughly.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Lauren Bishop at Columbia University?
Doctor Bishop was on top of the treatment, and called many times to explain results. When the treatment was predictable time wise (medicated FET), she was the one to do the transfer/egg retrieval. All staff is attentive and professional though, so we got to interact with quite a few other doctors at the practice during our journey and they did not disappoint.
Describe the protocols Lauren Bishop used in your cycles at Columbia University and their degree of success.
I took medication for IUI 4 times, one time we just tried without the insemination (I had some liquid), the other 3 we had the insemination. All these failed. We used various doses of Clomid/Letrozole. Then we had 1 egg retrieval, that resulted in only one transferable embryo. This was transferred but the pregnancy test was negative again. We had another transfer that resulted in 5 embryos. We transferred one and the pregnancy result was again negative. The third time we transferred two and now we are 12 weeks pregnant, we have graduated from Columbia and moved to a usual obgyn. The transfers were a mix of medicated and natural, all embryos were frozen before transfer for at least a few days.

My insurance covered almost everything. We had to pay for assisted hatching and one of the IUIs but costs were clearly stated beforehand.

Recently he scheduled a next-day scan in response to my report of unexpected bleeding.
Describe the protocols Alex Robles used in your cycles at Columbia University and their degree of success.
1. Initially I was diagnosed with a cyst, I received medication from Dr. Robles, and the cyst resolved the next month. 2. Dr. Rudick was very data-oriented, fact-based, and direct. She helped navigate results from another clinic from travel for some monitoring, and was very detailed in her communications. I had a lot of specific questions, for which [she] was specific in responses - and again, always grounded in facts...very direct and outcome oriented. I liked that style, which may be in contrast with someone who might lean more empathetic from the beginning.
Columbia is definitely a big practice. I experienced it when we first froze embyros and experienced it again now - it's a machine. Not really personal, but efficient and things move quickly. The team is very nice but again, very New York...I learned that peanut oil is a common part of progesterone tablets, and even though I am allergic to peanuts, was originally prescribed a version that did ultimately have peanut oil. I notified the team though who immediately called in an order to a compounding pharmacy that does a peanut-oil free version

I believe insurance covered all of the transfer costs. When we initially froze embryos, I believe we did have to pay for PGS testing and a co-pay on some of the treatments. We've paid for embryo and sperm storage out of pocket.
Describe Briana Rudick's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Columbia University.
I think Columbia just does eSET.

Great and timely sending out of requisitions [at Columbia University]. One time I was not told when my next monitoring date had to be, so I couldn't get an outside monitoring appointment in time. Howev, other than that they are very professional and clear and rely a lot on email. Before starting an IVF cycle there and before paying for the cucle, it is extremely hard to ask questions or clarify details about the cycle. Be prepared to have to be persistent
How was your experience with Zev Williams at Columbia University?
He is extremely warm and motivated to help patients exactly in the way theyvdream yo become parents. He is very candid with probabilities of success with each procedure, but he will think outside the box always to make your dreams come true. Fertility is a very personal and emotional journey and he respects that while providing non-judgmental, world-class care. He is very busy, but I admire all of what he does as chief of the department and researcher, so I rely more on communication with the nurses knowing he is out there trying to make Fertility outcomes better for patients!
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Zev Williams at Columbia University?
Be prepared for the best Fertility doctor there is! Be patient with the communication part as he is busy- you won't regret it.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Zev Williams at Columbia University?
He is incredibly compassionate, and motivated to think outside the box because my results really matter to him. He did not have to, but recided yo personally do my embryo transfer. His bedside manner is outstanding and warm. I suffer from the effects of age and PCOS, and even with these diagnoses, he is open and respects patients' true choices in their hearts... to become parents with their own egg and sperm. He is extremely well educated and knowledgeable, but also spiritually connected somehow.

Letrozole and low dose gonal F/menopur- did not take advantage of the still large egg reserve I have! So we changed it do higher doses of Gonal F and Menopur with Cetrotide as I am at risk of OHSS ++
Describe your experience with your nurse at Columbia University. (Assigned nurse: Laura Lodico)
Very efficient and on top of my care. I would have just preferred to talk to her on the phone a bit more. But there was a sense of pressure offloaded (I did not need to jump out of work to answer calls!) with the email communication!

Between the front desk, the phlebotomist, the nurses, and all the doctors at Columbia have created a safe and positive experience during my visits. I am grateful for everyone's kindness, empathy, and patience. As a patient, it's important to advocate for your needs and not be afraid to ask questions. At Columbia, I was able to comfortably do that and feel heard. The process can be overwhelming and there is a lot of information to process and remember but the staff has always been willing to help.
Describe the costs associated with your care under Paula Brady at Columbia University.
Fortunately, most of the cost of my care was covered by my health insurance. However, the genetic testing and embryo preservation were not. For my first cycle, I used my savings to pay for the genetic testing and embryo preservation. However, for the second cycle, I worked with the clinic to have a payment plan.

Dr. K' has the ability to listen attentively, address my concerns, and tailor a personalized treatment plan significantly contributed to the positive experience (i.e when to switch from IUI to IVF, or how to adjust the treatment for better results between retrievals/transfers)...Her kindness, empathy, and understanding made an emotional and challenging process feel more manageable. Clinic [at Columbia University] is beautiful, great location (close to all subways), inviting and clean. How was your experience with Sinem Karipcin at Columbia University?
From the moment I stepped into the clinic, I felt reassured and supported, and that feeling persisted throughout both processes (successful IUI in 2020 and successful IVF in 2023). Dr. K' has the ability to listen attentively, address my concerns, and tailor a personalized treatment plan significantly contributed to the positive experience (i.e when to switch from IUI to IVF, or how to adjust the treatment for better results between retrievals/transfers).
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Sinem Karipcin at Columbia University?
Don't be afraid to ask Dr. K anything.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Sinem Karipcin at Columbia University?
I wanted to take a moment to express my heartfelt gratitude for Dr K's (and her amazing team) exceptional care and support during my IUI/IVF journey which resulted in 2 beautiful daughters (1 IUI + 1 IVF). Her expertise and guidance were invaluable, but it was her compassionate approach that truly made a profound difference. Throughout the ups and downs of fertility treatment and the joyous arrival of our babies, she treated me not just as a patient, but as a human being. Her kindness, empathy, and understanding made an emotional and challenging process feel more manageable. Her ability to combine medical expertise with genuine compassion is a rare gift. Highly recommended for anyone facing the journey.
Describe the protocols Sinem Karipcin used in your cycles at Columbia University and their degree of success.
Baby 1: Diagnosis- PCOS Treatment- IUI Result - 1st IUI worked Baby 2: Diagnosis- Unexplained fertility (PCOS cycle was corrected following baby 1) Treatment- 1. Started with 3 unsuccessful IUI cycles. 2. First egg retrieval resulted in 3 embryos (1 good , 2 mosaic). 1 failed transfer 3. Second egg retrieval resulted in 8 embryos (5 good ,2 mosaic, 1 PGT positive) followed by a successful transfer. Note: Between 1st and 2nd eggs retrieval, Dr K adjusted the treatment which resulted in many more good embryos.

I received timely responses via email from [Dr. Karipcin] and her care team...As a patient with severe endometriosis, the doctor suggested daily dosage of 225iu Gonal F and 1 powder vial of Menopur to stimulate eggs during embryo freeze all cycle. This resulted in 4 embryos making it to blast but only two embryos had a PGT tested normal result. For my embryo transfer cycle, the only fertility treatment used was daily estradiol and progesterone shots. This transfer resulted in my first current pregnancy.
The clinic [at Columbia University] is very nice and compassionate to their patients. I love the clean facility and advanced technology that is used for fertility treatment, pregnancy scans, and organized manner in how the monitoring appointments are put together. The only weakness is not having a centralized user friendly portal to quickly view your own medical reports, ultrasounds, and bloodwork results. There is only a portal patients can use to schedule your appointments.
How was your experience with Sinem Karipcin at Columbia University?
Dr. Sinem Karipcin was a great choice for my fertility journey. I was referred to Dr. Karipcin by my regular gynecologist. She listened to all my concerns and answered all important questions that I had during my egg retrieval and embryo transfer procedures. I respected the compassion she shown to my husband and I during the office visits. I received timely responses via email from the doctor and her care team. Medications were sent to my pharmacy on time without any issues. I liked that she was caring and understanding of my fertility issues and suggested appropriate protocols to help me get pregnant. I felt comfortable with Dr. Karipcin as her patient.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Sinem Karipcin at Columbia University?
Be patient through the entire process as you work side by side with Sinem Karipcin in your fertility journey. Share as many questions and concerns as possible. Make sure you have complete understanding of her recommended fertility treatment and protocols.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Sinem Karipcin at Columbia University?
Dr. Karipcin was very helpful and communicative throughout my entire IVF egg retrieval process and transfer procedures. I was treated with great care and received personalized treatment virtually and in person.

Describe your experience with the nursing staff at Columbia University.
Nursing staff were very respectful and kind throughout my IVF frozen embryo cycle and embryo transfer procedures. The monitoring appointments were on time and I was seen right away without any delays in schedule. Following the office visits, communication was given via emails with instructions of "next steps" after every appointment. Staff communicated bloodwork results in a timely manner. The only negative comment I wanted to share is relating to the staff that is responsible for blood draws during the monitoring appointments. I had an issue with one staff who was doing a terrible and painful job drawing my blood every time I went. I didn't like that some staff do not take their time to find appropriate vein locations. Additional training for blood draws and training staff to not use an old injection site to keep drawing blood is appropriate.
Describe your experience with Columbia University.

Describe your experience with your monitoring appointments at Columbia University.
Monitoring appointments were very quick and easy to schedule. The blood draws were very painful depending on the staff who was performing it. Your name is called pretty quickly and the appointments were always 30 minutes or less.
Describe the costs associated with your care under Sinem Karipcin at Columbia University.
All costs for frozen embryo IVF cycle was paid out of pocket 12k procedure and 3k for medications. The cost for the embryo transfer consisted was close to 3k for the entire process.
Describe Sinem Karipcin's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Columbia University.
My FET cycle consisted of a single embryo transfer with estradiol and progesterone shots. My fully medicated protocol led to a successful transfer with a positive pregnancy test.

Dr Robles is an amazing practitioner! He took time to be present in every appointment including early ultrasounds in the beginning of my IVF cycle. I was struck by the fiercely warm smile he greeted me with during each appointment. It was disarming and calming which is exactly what I needed. Other things that stand out is he called me by first name, explained all aspects of my treatment in great details and showed genuine care in regards to my questions and concerns. Lastly, he made himself available for questions via email and always provided quick responses.

Dr. Robles’ knowledge, precision for details and guidance through the IVF process were all instrumental in my successful pregnancy (and it happened on my first IVF cycle and first single embryo transfer). As a person slightly over 40, this is just remarkable results! I truly thank God for Dr. Robles!

Hayley Roche and Sophie Clarke are a dynamic duo! They both took great care of me with treatment and appointment updates as well as answering any questions I had. Truly appreciate them!
Describe your experience with Columbia University.
Glow- friendly staff Grow- sometimes when patients were being called during morning monitoring, people who arrived and checked in first were skipped. I always tried to make sure I sat in the area near the water dispenser when names were called. It can be difficult for patients sitting on the opposite end because of the music and names are not being said loud enough.

Dr Karipcin was amazing and I'm so grateful for her help. She worked with me and during setbacks she adjusted the course of action. She recommended different strategies to help me achieve a positive pregnancy after multiple losses. She is a doctor that truly cares about her patients. I transferred to her after being unsuccessful at a different clinic and she truly took the time and continued to work with me and always had a personal touch that made me feel that she truly cared and I wasn't just another patient to her.
[Columbia University had] zero wait times, able to answer any questions, compassionate, always available. Wish they had a long island branch where i could do some bloodwork instead of having to go into the city each time . Able to do procedures in the same office, which was very convenient. Everyone was friendly, never had an issue...Dr K ( Karipcin) was very empathetic, and from day 1 took the time to get to know my history and background. She has a personal touch that shows you she is working towards a successful result, and never once made me feel like just another patient, or that I didn't have options.

I met Dr. Bishop a few years ago when I was thinking about freezing my eggs. I remember how patient and kind she was while I was going through a whirlwind of emotions. We decided to revisit freezing at a later time. I always knew that she would be the person to take care of me when I became pregnant. She has a lovely, calming energy to her...I had reached out to see if I could get an updated fertility evaluation/assessment. The universe had other plans, and I actually got pregnant before I was able to start the process. Because I wanted to change my ob/gyn, she was kind enough to perform my two scans before I graduated from the practice. I am truly thankful.
The [Columbia University] practice was very efficient and organized. Location is great, front desk staff was great, the blood draw nurses were great. All in all, definitely recommend. Dr. Robles was patient, detail oriented, and incredibly empathetic. I felt supported, listened to, and understood the whole way. I was at increased risk of hyper stimulation and Dr. Robles helped walk me through each care decision he...made to derisk any unpleasant symptoms...checked in frequently, including over his weekends and outside of typical office hours to see how I was feeling. Even post-retrieval, he sent helpful emails and resources about follow-up questions on my mind. 10/10 medical experience and would highly recommend anyone uncertain about their fertility journey to pay him a visit.
Columbia nursing staff was excellent including over email, via daily monitoring, and the phlebotomy team. I heard back promptly on any questions, had multiple methods to contact them (phone, email, etc.)...Top medical experience I have ever had. AM monitoring can be a bit busy/fast but I appreciated the speed and efficiency. 10/10 experience - highly professional, compassionate care the whole way. New patients should know that the Dr. may not be present at every single morning monitoring (although I did not ask them to be) but I felt in great hands with the nursing staff and the Dr. was always available when I asked or if I booked an AM monitoring appointment late enough that their day had started.

During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Alex Robles at Columbia University?
Dr. Robles was incredible - he remembered small details about my life/career plans not specifically related to treatment and you could tell he was always listening. He called multiple times outside of typical office hours to see how I was doing, emailed promptly, and called me on a weekend evening before my retrieval to check-in. Truly the most kind and attentive healthcare experience I have ever had.
Describe your experience with the nursing staff at Columbia University.
Columbia nursing staff was excellent including over email, via daily monitoring, and the phlebotomy team. I heard back promptly on any questions, had multiple methods to contact them (phone, email, etc.), and felt true continuity of care even if I did not see same nurse for every AM monitoring. AM monitoring was very efficient and when possible the Dr. would stop-in to visit and answer questions, especially at key visits.

Dr. Brady is a very compassionate doctor. I came to her without having any understanding of how fertility treatments work. As an aspiring single mother by choice, she really made me feel supported and I never felt awkward for not having a partner in the process. At each stage of the treatment, she would explain what to expect and what my options were and what she recommends and why. I quickly realized how lucky I was to have found her and how much I came to trust her advice.
The [Columbia University] clinic is very efficient - most of the times I was in and out of the clinic in 15 mins during morning monitoring appointments. It is busy, but over time, the staff gets to know you and I always felt welcomed and seen...Angela was the most caring nurse I could have asked for! She was so patient with all my questions and always knew how to calm my nerves. I truly felt like she was holding my hand throughout the process and making sure all my concerns were addressed! Just like Dr. Brady, I truly felt like she was rooting for me every step of the way!

I had success with both my retrievals. Just before the transfer, we found a fibroid in the uterus during the saline ultrasound and Dr. Brady referred me to another doctor so I could have a surgery to take care of it quickly without impacting the transfer timeline by a lot. She truly guided me at every step and I fully attribute the success of my treatment to her! I truly felt that she and the rest of the team had my back and were always rooting for me!
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Paula Brady at Columbia University?
You may not see her as often as you’d like during the treatment, but rest assured she is always reviewing your results and checking in with you - she truly wants what’s best for you - trust her advice!
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Paula Brady at Columbia University?
Dr. Brady always answered all my questions patiently and never made me feel stupid or rushed me - I may have even asked the same questions multiple times and she would still answer them very patiently.
Describe the protocols Paula Brady used in your cycles at Columbia University and their degree of success.
For both my retrievals, I was on Gonal-F, Menopur, Cetrotide, and Lupron trigger shot. For the transfer, I was on a fully medicated cycle with estrogen and progesterone.

Describe the costs associated with your care under Paula Brady at Columbia University.
I had to pay for the IVF freeze all cycle and the transfer cycle out of pocket. The freeze all cycle was ~$14K and the transfer cycle was $4,500. Genetic testing of embryos was $300 per embryo and this amount was paid directly to the lab.
Describe Paula Brady's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Columbia University.
I wanted a single embryo transfer and that is what Dr. Brady recommended too!
