Attention to Detail
Attention to detail is on a 1 - 10 scale, and is scored based on the rate, and severity, of errors committed by the clinic according to the patients.
For example, a severe error might be failing to inform a patient of critical information, while a small error might be failing to call a patient with results.
CDC Success Rates
This is the most recent data from the CDC. The CDC cautions that it should not be used to compare doctors and clinics. This data represents the outcomes of IVF cycles when using a person's own eggs.
For more information please see our FAQs.
Where you see a “?” on the chart, a clinic has done fewer than 20 cycles in this category and age range, so the CDC says showing percentages from this small data set would be misleading and unreliable.

The experience was top tier and I would recommend CU’s medical care to anyone. Personally, a key reassuring component of my care was knowing that I had a network of doctors with various specialties available as needed. Being bounced around to navigating different offices and insurance protocols is one of the most stressful things about seeking healthcare— CU’s system provided a seamless patient experience that gave me the space to focus on my health.
How was your experience with Ashley Wiltshire at Columbia University?
Words cannot express how grateful & I am to have had Dr. Wiltshire as my doctor, but I will surely try! I emphatically recommend selecting Dr. Wiltshire for your fertility journey. I began my journey nervous, overwhelmed and with many questions. Yet, all nervousness dissipated in lieu of the extremely knowledgeable, empathetic and professional bedside manner of Dr. Wiltshire. During our initial consultation, she took my personal history with care, answered every question I had -no matter how small, and laid out a clear plan of care.
During the hormone cycle, the nursing/ medication staff becomes your main contact, but Dr. Wiltshire’s attention to my case and quality of care did not waiver. When I had questions about my treatment, symptoms etc. via email or voice message, Dr. Wiltshire swiftly responded, with an attention to detail I’ve never experienced under any doctor’s care. Dr. Wiltshire and the supporting staff acted so synchronously that I was never concerned about falling through the cracks.
Day of my egg retrieval, Dr. Wiltshire was literally the last confident & reassuring voice I heard (responding to my last nervous procedural question) before the anesthesia kicked in, and the first staff person I remember speaking to in post-op recovery.

Describe the protocols Ashley Wiltshire used in your cycles at Columbia University and their degree of success.
We initially requested a consultation via email/ the CU website and the initial consultation was promptly scheduled by her team. During our initial consultation via video chat, Dr. Wiltshire took a thorough personal and family medical history. We also discussed what the motivations and desired outcomes were for our fertility treatment. Lastly, Dr. Wiltshire walked us through the next steps and answered any additional questions we had.
Our next steps included blood panels to tests, currently fertility, health status, and any pre-existing genetic conditions. After the needed tests were complete & explained, we began the fertility medications. The medication treatment plan and administration was explained in great detail and had videos to provide step by step instructions. The staff checked in with me regularly and often and Dr. Wiltshire swiftly returned insight to any questions I had.
As retrieval day got closer, check-ins and blood work became near daily and the team was amazing the whole time. In the days leading up to extraction, pre & post-care operation was clearly walked through.
Lastly, Dr. Wiltshire provided day by day updates and the final results of our egg retrieval cycle.

Describe the costs associated with your care under Ashley Wiltshire at Columbia University.
I don't ,in full ,remember the total costs, but have a ball park of $12-25k all in. I am unsure since the billing department did an amazing job of checking/ running everything through insurance. From the costs that were paid out of pocket, since we do have a robust healthcare plan, we spent an estimate of $4-8k.

How was your experience with Alex Robles at Columbia University?
During the ups and downs of the fertility treatments, Dr. Robles was a constant source of support. He would be present at every single appointment, offering guidance and encouragement, which made even the most challenging days feel more manageable. I can vividly recall walking into his office feeling anxious and leaving with newfound hope and a smile, knowing that I was in the hands of someone who genuinely cared.
As mentioned before there was one particular moment that will forever stay with me. On the day of my scheduled egg retrieval, I received news that Dr. Robles wouldn't be available due to prior commitments. My heart sank at the thought of having someone else perform the procedure. I shared my concerns with Dr. Robles, and he listened with utmost compassion.
To my amazement, on the day of the procedure, which happened to be a weekend, Dr. Robles came in specifically to perform my egg retrieval. The relief and gratitude I felt were overwhelming. It was a clear testament to his dedication and unwavering commitment to his patients' care.
Dr. Robles prioritized understanding my medical history and tailored a protocol specifically suited for me. When I sent him my fertility medical records from another clinic, it was a significant amount of information, albeit disorganized and challenging to follow. Nonetheless, Dr. Robles dedicated time to thoroughly study and comprehend every record and data point from my fertility journey.
Despite the potentially tedious nature of regular check-ins, I found myself eagerly looking forward to each appointment under Dr. Robles' care. As time progressed, my trust and confidence in him only deepened. Dr. Robles demonstrated unparalleled attention to detail, recollecting every aspect of my case and monitoring my progress closely.
I always had numerous questions and a strong desire to know the results of my bloodwork at each appointment. Dr. Robles ensured that I received those numbers after every visit, providing a written summary of the session and clear instructions for the following days. He remained flexible, making adjustments to the treatment plan based on my body's responses.
One aspect that truly stood out was Dr. Robles' accessibility and responsiveness. He was always available and promptly replied to my emails. If I needed to talk to him, he would call me back the same day. This constant availability made me feel genuinely cared for and instilled confidence in the quality of care I was receiving.
Moreover, Dr. Robles displayed an extraordinary ability to remember even the minutest details about my case, following up on them during subsequent visits. This level of attentiveness made me feel valued as a patient, reinforcing the trust I had in his expertise.

During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Alex Robles at Columbia University?
My experience with Dr. Alex Robles has been nothing short of spectacular. From our first consultation, I just knew I was in great hands. Dr. Robles’ in-depth knowledge was immediately apparent. With a sterling clarity of thought, he transformed medical terminologies into simple, comprehendible information. His empathetic and knowledgeable approach not only alleviated my anxiety but also filled me with hope for the future. Words cannot do justice to his level of care and expertise, and I can't imagine going through the experience with another doctor. The pronounced improvement in the number of eggs retrieved and eggs matured during my initial egg retrieval at another highly regarded fertility center was truly astounding. This only further underscored the efficacy of Dr. Robles' individualized approach and protocol, attesting to the fact that it genuinely works for each patient
Dr. Robles personally made sure I felt taken care of every step of the way. During our first consultation, I told him about my experience with my first fertility Doctor and my concerns about her lack of involvement during the whole process. Every appointment was delegated to a different nurse I never saw a doctor until the day of my retrieval and it wasn't performed by my doctor. I felt like a nuance through the process. From the very beginning, Dr. Alex Robles was there for every single appointment, from bloodwork to ultrasound, never relegating me to the care of someone less familiar with my case. He was always fully present, listening attentively to my concerns, and answering my questions with patience and thoroughness. There was a level of personal care and attention to detail that was so consistent, it was almost like he was entirely dedicated to my case alone. Moreover, his ability to recall specifics about my medical history without even a glance at his notes was astonishing. It created a sense of continuity and personal connection that was deeply reassuring. It was as though every nuance of my case was always at the forefront of his mind. He didn't just listen; he engaged, understanding my medical history and current concerns with the thoroughness that is a rare find in today's fast-paced medical environment. What I also greatly appreciated was Dr. Robles respect for my input. He valued my thoughts and perspective, making me feel like an active participant in my healthcare, rather than just a passive recipient of it. His approach was highly patient-centric.
What struck me most about Dr. Robles was his genuine interest in my well-being and his unwavering commitment to achieving excellent results. Throughout the entire process, I had the privilege of seeing Dr. Robles during every single one of my appointments. On challenging days, he was there to guide me, offering support and reassurance. After each visit, I always felt better, leaving with renewed hope and a smile. However, during the last consultation before my scheduled egg retrieval, I received unexpected news that another doctor would be performing the procedure as Dr. Robles was not available that weekend. I couldn't help but feel a sense of sadness, as I had grown so comfortable and confident with Dr. Robles by my side. Remarkably, on the day of the procedure, which was a Sunday, Dr. Robles surprised me by coming in solely to perform my egg retrieval. The relief and happiness I felt were beyond words. This act of kindness and dedication demonstrated just how much Dr. Robles truly cares about his patients and how he goes above and beyond to ensure their well-being and comfort.
I am forever grateful for Dr. Robles' exceptional care and commitment to my journey toward parenthood. He is more than just a remarkable physician; he is a compassionate and extraordinary human being.

I'm so thankful I had Dr. Wiltshire as my physician. She is smart and knowledgeable, answer all my questions, and most importantly she talked me through all my options at each step of the process and supported my decisions around treatment. I did two cycles of egg freezing due to cancer. The first cycle was unsuccessful, and I was somewhat unsure about trying a second time. Dr. Wiltshire met with me twice before I made a final decision. I never felt pressure from her either way, she was completely supportive of whatever decision I choose to make. Ultimately, I decided to do a second cycle, and Dr. Wiltshire carefully walked me through the adjustments in protocol and answered all my questions.

Dr Forman made me feel like I was his only patient (even though I know I was one of many.) He answered every single one of my questions and never made me feel silly for asking any questions no matter how minor or silly I knew they were. Whenever I had concerns about anything he would respond quicker than I could have ever asked for. He truly has the best bedside manner of any doctor I have ever seen and when having to go through IVF and all the unknowns that come with it; having a doctor you can talk to is so important. Columbia overall is fantastic. I never had to wait for anything or be put on hold like so many other doctors offices do to you. Everything runs so well and they make sure that everything that’ is needed gets done for you. The morning monitoring appointments you’re literally in and out in less than 20 mins. All the doctors seem great and Dr Forman tried to make all my appointments himself...Christine was the primary nurse I interacted with and she was amazing. Always answered all questions no matter how silly they were and made me feel like I was a friend instead of a patient.

Dr Forman is the best doctor I’ve ever had. Before starting IVF I researched many doctors with Dr Forman being my #1 and hoping he would take my insurance. After having my first consultation with Dr Forman, I realized I 100% made the right decision. He never wasted my time & had me on a schedule of all the necessary tests needed to complete an egg retrieval as soon as I could. He spent time answering all my and my husbands and questions and anything I felt I forgot to answer at the time he would email me back right away with an answer. He gave realistic expectations while still keeping me optimistic throughout and he was always right.

Describe the costs associated with your care under Eric Forman at Columbia University.
For the initial consultation, other virtual appointments, blood work, genetic testing, and my HSG, totaled over $6,000 thankfully our insurance covered majority of it.
Dr. Karipcin is the best of the best. Despite how busy she is, she never makes you feel like a burden. She is always there to answer your questions. Not only that, she genuinely cared about me and my husband. She feels like family now...her guidance was impeccable. We did a modified natural cycle and it worked. I am pregnant currently. Not only is Dr. K an amazing doctor, but she is an extraordinary human being. I adore her and would recommend her a thousand times over for anyone's treatment.
[Columbia University is] Clean, efficient, welcoming. All of my appointments there have been smooth. The nurses doing something as simple as my bloodwork were always friendly and making conversation with me. Despite it being a large facility, you don’t feel like just a number here. You truly feel cared for because of the amazing doctors and staff members...[nurse] Sam and the team at Columbia were always so on top of everything. I knew I was in the best hands. I love the staff at Columbia Fertility.
How was your experience with Sinem Karipcin at Columbia University?
As mentioned, Dr. K is incredible, humane, thorough, and kind. She is the exact kind of person you would want to work with during something as sensitive as IVF treatment. Our case was a bit unique, as I did IVF to ensure I didn’t potentially pass along a genetic disease to my children that is in my family. However, I didn’t want to know the status of whether I have the gene or not. This happens through a process called nondisclosure genetic testing. I did research and saw that Dr. K had experience in this domain. Columbia is also pioneers in this field. I feel incredibly blessed that I went with Dr. K for this extremely important and life-changing process. She is knowledgeable and made myself and my husband feel comfortable every step of the way. Though she wasn’t able to do my second retrieval or the transfer just based on when the dates fell, I felt her presence every step of the way. Between both retrievals, I had 8 perfectly healthy embryos that we were able to freeze. Her guidance through the whole process was absolutely spot on. I wanted to do a natural frozen embryo cycle rather than medicated, and she made it work for me. Again, her guidance was impeccable. We did a modified natural cycle and it worked. I am pregnant currently. Not only is Dr. K an amazing doctor, but she is an extraordinary human being. I adore her and would recommend her a thousand times over for anyone's treatment.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Sinem Karipcin at Columbia University?
Dr. Karipcin is the best of the best. Despite how busy she is, she never makes you feel like a burden. She is always there to answer your questions. Not only that, she genuinely cared about me and my husband. She feels like family now.
Describe your experience with the nursing staff at Columbia University.
Always kind in their emails, clear instructions for any steps moving forward. I was never confused with what to do next. IVF is filled with medications, directions, and specific times. The nurses made everything clear and were easily accessible whenever I did have questions. Sam, my care coordinator, has helped me on so many occasions. She was patient, efficient, and also so kind. Since I don’t live in Manhattan and I’m a teacher, I needed to do some outside monitoring at a local facility during my IVF process. This involved Sam sending me requisition forms and also making sure Columbia received the results from my local facility in a timely manner to give me instructions. Sam and the team at Columbia were always so on top of everything. I knew I was in the best hands. I love the staff at Columbia Fertility.
Describe your experience with Columbia University.
Clean, efficient, welcoming. All of my appointments there have been smooth. The nurses doing something as simple as my bloodwork were always friendly and making conversation with me. Despite it being a large facility, you don’t feel like just a number here. You truly feel cared for because of the amazing doctors and staff members.
I had an egg freezing cycle. She [Dr. Ashley Wiltshire] monitored my hormones and my follicle size and adjusted the levels day by day and I responded appropriately. She has the medical expertise to get you to achieve your goal. It was nerve wracking for me since I have to pay out of pocket but I only had successful experiences with her...She was very kind, answered all my medical questions, was never inpatient with me...I was very afraid of how I would manage with my busy schedule but she accommodated every question I had an maneuvered my cycle so I would do it before my vacation and an important exam. I gladly did a second cycle with her because of how easy she made it the first time and because she explained to me the percentage of success with my first cycle. I like that she involved me with the process. She is incredibly smart and I’m so glad I got to experience her care as a patient.
[Columbia University's] strength was that there was 2 locations so I did my ultrasound in one location and the egg retrieval somewhere else which went smoothly with my job schedule. They also allowed me to meet with the doctors virtually. Also they gave me information on how to qualify for the medications with a discount program which was not done at the other fertility center I visited before this one. Basically everything that was initially going to be a barrier was resolved in this clinic (location, visits, and medications).First cycle $10,450. Second cycle $9700...

Describe Ashley Wiltshire's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Columbia University.
Dr. Forman always made us feel like a priority and had exceptional bedside manner...he took the time to walk us through the information we needed, or followed up soon after. He was also very responsive via email, which was helpful in navigating such a challenging process. Finally, when he did have difficult news to relate, he would always call and show the balance of empathy and clinical clarity that we needed...He was instrumental in recommending a course of action that lead to my first health pregnancy after 10 rounds of ivf.
overall a professional and friendly clinic [Columbia University] that always seemed well run. No specific weaknesses come to mind. Their particular model has you seeing different doctors throughout the monitoring stage. This was fine for us because Dr. Forman always checked in around significant results and conducted all of the procedures...Overall a very competent nursing staff that was able to answer most of our questions, especially around drug protocols.
How was your experience with Eric Forman at Columbia University?
I have seen three doctors in total, and consulted with many more. Dr. Forman is among the best and someone that I highly recommend for anyone looking for a doctor who will give you clear guidance and really help inform the decision making. He was instrumental in recommending a course of action that lead to my first health pregnancy after 10 rounds of ivf.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Eric Forman at Columbia University?
Dr. Forman has limited time during monitoring hours, so if you have any follow up questions make sure you reach out over email- he will always get back to you and provide a clear overview.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Eric Forman at Columbia University?

We started with a duo-stim ivf cycle, which was experimental, but did lead to a successful egg retrieval after several cancelled cycles. We eventually made the decision to shift to a donor egg approach, which has it's own set of complications. And Dr. Forman advised us through the donor selection process and then the transfer, which was a dedicated transfer cycle.

I could not have had a better experience. Dr. Ashley always made herself available when I needed, she listened to my hesitations and requests, and worked with me with a lot of care! As a Black woman, it was reassuring to work with someone who looked like me and made sure I was always treated with respect and cared for... She developed a treatment plan that worked with my schedule, optimized to leverage my insurance and have 2 cycles. She answered all of the questions I had
They [Columbia University] were prompt for your assigned time which was great, I did not have to wait long. There was even I time I signed in for the wrong day and they corrected it so I could still be seen. The only unpleasant experience I had was one of the visits, I was late due to waiting for the elevator and they asked me to come back after lunch (I live in Brooklyn), luckily my doctor was there and I was able to meet with her that morning.
How was your experience with Ashley Wiltshire at Columbia University?
Dr. Ashley is a phenomenal doctor! I could not have had a better experience. I was very nervous coming into the treatments and also had a tight deadline due to switching jobs. She developed a treatment plan that worked with my schedule, optimized to leverage my insurance and have 2 cycles. She answered all of the questions I had, listened to my requests with wanting abdominal ultrasounds if possible, and allowed an alternative for drawing blood that eased the process a bit for me personally. She made sure to be there for both of my retrievals which made me feel as though I was truly in great hands.
Can't recommend her enough!
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Ashley Wiltshire at Columbia University?
Be honest about your questions or concerns, no matter how trivial you think they are! Dr. Ashley will answer :)

Describe the protocols Ashley Wiltshire used in your cycles at Columbia University and their degree of success.
The 1st cycle I went through about 10 days of injections, 3 follicles grew quickly (faster than the rest), so she modified the treatment. We were able to retrieve 8 and freeze 3.
I did a 2nd cycle immediately after the 1st. This time, Dr. Ashley adjusted my treatment plan starting with estrogen tablets & clomid at the outset, then I went through about 11/12 days of injections. The adjustments worked and we were able to retrieve 14 and freeze 12!
Describe your experience with your nurse at Columbia University. (Assigned nurse: Kathryn "Kate" Klinger)
My primary nurse, Kate, was great! I had lots of questions around mixing the medications myself and she hopped on a few different video calls with me just to ensure I was doing it correctly.

Dr. Bishop was great to work with on freezing my eggs. She was easy to talk to and get in touch with...was super responsive if I had questions during my injections. I cannot say enough about what a good fit this...treatment was for me. The entire process here was also efficient and manageable for a busy professional like me. I had such a great experience that if I ever do need to use these eggs I know I will be coming back here for the process!
I had a great experience here [at Columbia University]. A different doctor than my doctor did my procedure and I was happy with the results. It did seem a little standardized (like they do this all the time) but I think that's what you want. The people that drew my blood daily and did my ultrasounds were the best. What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Lauren Bishop at Columbia University?
I would tell my friends to trust the process and try to be consistent with the injections. Since I was really new to this process, I didn't know how much pain around my bladder I would have. It was really easy to get in touch with the facility to ask about this side effect but would love to have known upfront since I did think I was getting a UTI. This is honestly such minor feedback. I had the best experience here and was happy with the process and results.

She [Dr. Sinem Karipcin] was a great doctor, very knowledgable and compassionate. She knew exactly what she was doing. Eventhough it is normal that transfers and egg retrievals be done by the Doctor who is present, she changed her schedule and showed up at my frozen embryo transfer and she surprised me and told me she was my support on that day. She made right decisions if necessary even last minutes such as about the time of trigger injection and it made my eggs have a better quality to be retrieved. I asked questions in the emails and she answered a bit later, so if I needed an answer right away, I had to reach out nurse or on call doctor.

During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Sinem Karipcin at Columbia University?
She was very kind and positive throughout the process and knew exactly what our difficulties were in our life and followed up at every visit.
Describe the protocols Sinem Karipcin used in your cycles at Columbia University and their degree of success.
With Sinem she started with 2clomids, 75 unit gonal F and 75 menopour for the stims on day 6 she added cetrotide 0.25 mg and later on she decreased gonal F to 25 and leupron to 37.5 IU. She used leupron for the trigger.
It resulted in 23 eggs and 10 were mature, only two blastocyst.
In the second cycle she changed the gonal F to 50 and 75 iu menopur.and later on added cetrotide. Trigger with half of ovidrel and 40 unit lupron.
Resulted in 13 eggs, 10 mature. 1 genetically normal.
My transfer was modified natural cycle, using letrozole and ovidrel to make sure I ovulate. And day 5 transfering one of my male frozen embryos

I had many issues at some point, because of not having the coverage for pgt test, and at some point I figured that my insurance paid them and they also got it from me. I had to be on the phone with insurance and financial director for a couple of hours to solve this issue. But other than that everything was covered and I did not have many issues.
Describe Sinem Karipcin's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Columbia University.
I think it was the right decision to make to prevent complications of multiples pregnancy and not wasting embryos if it does not work
Dr. K [Karipcin] is decisive, which gave me confidence in her plans. While she gives very clear medical options, I especially appreciated a moment in time where I told her I was upset with our progress (not her fault, but a natural feeling during IVF), and she immediately adjusted our plan to respect my feelings and push forward. She also surprised us by showing up for our second transfer when another doctor was scheduled to run the procedure...
The clinic [Columbia University] does not have a patient portal - they only send encrypted emails which you can't access after a certain period of time, so you have to save everything for your own records...My care coordinator, Sam, was extremely diligent and responsive. I would hear from her immediately after finalizing plans with Dr. K - I never had to chase or follow up myself... The clinic needs to do a better job of making sure care does not stop when a doctor is on leave for any period of time...

During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Sinem Karipcin at Columbia University?
Dr. K felt like a partner in our journey. She was kind to me and my husband. She encouraged us to not only consider our medical options, but to also consider my feelings.

My care coordinator, Sam, was extremely diligent and responsive. I would hear from her immediately after finalizing plans with Dr. K - I never had to chase or follow up myself. She was also flexible and helped find times that worked for everyone. I especially appreciated Sam's care while Dr. K was out of the office on maternity leave, making sure that my appointments continued. I had a couple primary nurses throughout my time, and their communications and instructions were always clear. I also want to mention that the staff who drew blood was kind and quick.
Describe your experience with Columbia University.
The clinic located on Broadway in New York has clean, modern facilities where I was able to go for many services, from blood draw to monitoring, including egg retrievals and transfers. The clinic does not have a patient portal - they only send encrypted emails which you can't access after a certain period of time, so you have to save everything for your own records. The clinic needs to do a better job of making sure care does not stop when a doctor is on leave for any period of time.

I could schedule my appoints online. It was easy to find a time that worked within a broad window. I never had to wait - the staff and appointments were always on time, like clockwork.

I was instructed to begin taking medications during a natural cycle because of a miscommunication. I caught it early so we were able to stop medication and continue with the natural cycle, but I was the one who noticed the error.
Dr. Wiltshire was super thorough and conscientious with my care...Dr. Wiltshire really pushed me to have as many mature follicles as possible while closely monitoring me for hyperstimulation. Several ultrasound techs/providers commented that I might be ready for triggering based on my ultrasounds, but she was super patient and wanted to keep going. I'm at a stage in my career/training where the egg retrieval was a big financial commitment for me, and I really appreciate her careful care so that I could get the most out of this cycle as possible...
[Columbia University] Very efficient and high volume. Doctor was easily reachable and communicative over email. Saw her a handful of times throughout monitoring, which is not necessarily a problem. Morning monitoring appointments very efficient---they were always on time and ultrasounds/bloodwork were always complete within 15 minutes. All of the phlebotomists and techs were very available. I also broke a menopur vial at home once and they gave me a replacement that was lying around, which I really appreciated.
How was your experience with Ashley Wiltshire at Columbia University?
I would recommend Dr. Wiltshire to anyone! She was super communicative and available throughout the whole process, and was really patient and meticulous with my care. The entire clinic as well was well organized, and they offer very early morning monitoring appointments which was super helpful with my work schedule.

He [Dr. Forman] spoke to us on the phone after looking over my charts off-hand and quickly summed up what he thought the process would look like...I am someone who NEEDS coddling, and once i explained this to him- he really went out of his way to do this...The last cycle we did a microdose lupron flare which seemed to yield the best results. We got 10 eggs and out of the 10- 6 of them were viable quality embryos...
The medical staff at Columbia is BEYOND. I wrote an email after the first egg retrieval to the team to send my appreciation...They are emotional superwomen- who have mentally pushed me to keep going when there were days where i felt like i would never get pregnant. Their relationship with Dr. Forman is wonderful...From the medical assistants so the AMAZING sonographers- the team is SO top notch. You go for your doctor, and stay for them...
How was your experience with Eric Forman at Columbia University?
We switched to him after a terrible experience beforehand. He came highly recommended and since IVF is probably one of the most traumatic things as a woman you will go through, it's important to have the right people behind you. He spoke to us on the phone after looking over my charts off-hand and quickly summed up what he thought the process would look like. He is a bit shy, but answers every question you have, and will always answer via email. If you have questions and you prefer to speak on the phone- tell him this, he wants you to have the best experience possible. I am someone who NEEDS coddling, and once i explained this to him- he really went out of his way to do this.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Eric Forman at Columbia University?
He is shy at first, but dont take it personally- it's just him! He really is the BEST doctor, and will help you reach your goal- to get pregnant!!
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Eric Forman at Columbia University?
Dr. Forman is the very best. We switched doctors after feeling like a number at Cornell with a previous doctor. As you will read, he responds to every email, will call you, and explain everything in detail to you. IVF is VERY overwhelming, so make sure your doctor is the doctor you want.
Describe the protocols Eric Forman used in your cycles at Columbia University and their degree of success.
We did three different protocols. The first one, we started off before my period-since i am relatively " young" for IVF there was nothing to be assumed wouldn't be easy. We started off with Gonal F. Menopur, Cetrotide, Leuprolide, Ovidrel- but the Menopur hurt so much that we switched to low dose HCG. The menopur just really burned and i couldnt take it. the first round we didnt get many eggs and the quality wasn't great so he recommended i take Coq10 ( which DEFINITELY helped ) so for the second round we waited to start my period- and did a similar treatment- but i took Clomid first to help. The last cycle we did a microdose lupron flare which seemed to yield the best results. We got 10 eggs and out of the 10- 6 of them were viable quality embryos!

The medical staff at Columbia is BEYOND. I wrote an email after the first egg retrieval to the team to send my appreciation. From the medical assistants so the AMAZING sonographers- the team is SO top notch. You go for your doctor, and stay for them. When you feel like you are doing the same thing over and over, and feel discouraged- it's nice that you have a team of women to keep pushing you. Evelyn, Sabrina, Meghan, Diana, go above and beyond.
The sonographers are also TOP NOTCH- so i Hope that i can write a whole blurb on them especially Margaret who is now like family.
Describe your experience with Columbia University.
THE BEST OF THE BEST OF THE BEST-
Sabrina- who always would draw my blood- since i HATE giving blood. Evelyn, who would push me mentally, Meghan- who was always there for a hug. Diana- who is always there to make you laugh.
The sonographers- Margaret and Natasha, are now family. If it werent for Margaret i don't think i could have gotten through this whole process. She caught me in her arms when i started crying about my embryos, and held my hand when i did my 2nd embryo transfer. They are emotional superwomen- who have mentally pushed me to keep going when there were days where i felt like i would never get pregnant. Their relationship with Dr. Forman is wonderful, and they always reinforced that i picked the best team!
Describe the costs associated with your care under Eric Forman at Columbia University.
Our insurance covered about 90% of everything, since we were doing IVF because we are carriers for Cystic Fibrosis. The PGT Lab cost 3000 out of pocket, plus an additional 400 per embryo.
Describe Eric Forman's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Columbia University.
Dr. Bishop really took the time to get to know me and my partner and our goals...immensely kind, knowledgeable, and responsive throughout the process. She took care to address our concerns - going out of her way to schedule appointments with us to talk things over when we she sensed we were struggling with whether to continue with IUI versus proceed to IVF - and even remembered small details of our lives that we had shared with her...
It is a big clinic [Columbia University] that serves a lot of patients, so you may not always see the same ultrasound technicians or phlebotomists. But I found that its size was a real strength: They were SO efficient at getting patients in on time...And despite serving many patients, the staff always seemed to remember me and were so kind towards me - I never felt like a number or just another patient...
How was your experience with Lauren Bishop at Columbia University?
Dr. Bishop was immensely kind, knowledgeable, and responsive throughout the process. She took care to address our concerns - going out of her way to schedule appointments with us to talk things over when we she sensed we were struggling with whether to continue with IUI versus proceed to IVF - and even remembered small details of our lives that we had shared with her. We felt every step of the way that we were in great hands and that we had a really thoughtful plan in place to help us build a family.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Lauren Bishop at Columbia University?
Dr. Bishop really took the time to get to know me and my partner and our goals. She was so warm and lovely with us, and remembered details about a separate adoption/guardianship process we are going through. We always felt that she took care to make us feel supported and listened to.
Describe the protocols Lauren Bishop used in your cycles at Columbia University and their degree of success.
Our plan was to do three rounds of IUI - with Letrozole instead of Clomid, as I had received a PCOS diagnosis from a past doctor. When my lining wasn't growing enough - and it seemed that our second round of IUI wouldn't work out - Dr. Bishop suggested increasing the dose of Letrozole slightly to help with both follicle growth and endometrial growth. We never had to carry out that plan, as the second round of IUI was successful despite my thin lining (and a low sperm count for that retrieval)! Dr. Bishop told us to be optimistic despite the long odds, and we were grateful for that advice.

I had a wonderful experience at CUFC. It is a big clinic that serves a lot of patients, so you may not always see the same ultrasound technicians or phlebotomists. But I found that its size was a real strength: They were SO efficient at getting patients in on time - a huge deal when you're going through fertility treatments and often have to go in every morning. And despite serving many patients, the staff always seemed to remember me and were so kind towards me - I never felt like a number or just another patient.
Describe the costs associated with your care under Lauren Bishop at Columbia University.
I have a high-deductible insurance plan, so it ultimately cost me about $1,000-$2,000 for two IUI cycles and all the associated testing and appointments. But I believe those with better insurance ultimately didn't have to pay much at all, and CUFC will assign you a financial counselor who can help map out costs etc.
Dr. Turocy always made me feel like a priority. She knew my case backward and forwards. I came to her from a prior clinic, and even before arriving at Columbia, she had read my complete file and was incredibly thorough. In addition, Dr. Turocy always made herself available - whenever I had questions (which was often) I was able to email her directly, and she was always responsive no matter how big or small the question was...
I was assigned a nurse [at Columbia University], and she emailed my blood results/next steps very promptly the afternoon that I had received my blood drawn. She always made herself available, answered all of my questions, and would make sure to confirm with Dr. Turocy if there was anything she was not 100% certain of. I appreciated her empathy throughout the entire process...You schedule your own bloodwork/ultrasound appointments on their patient portal...I was able to schedule them on my own time...
How was your experience with Jenna Turocy at Columbia University?
I came to Dr. Turocy after a grueling fertility journey - I had been to two other clinics, had undergone multiple frozen transfers, IUIs, had two miscarriages, and had multiple hysteroscopies. I came to Dr. Turocy feeling pretty helpless about my journey. She was incredibly empathetic, and she was extremely thorough and clear in explaining her ideas for next steps. Dr. Turocy suggested ideas that had not been previously brought up from the many doctors/consults I had, and she was also always willing to hear my perspective on the course of treatment. I was used to not seeing my doctors so frequently at my scans, but Dr. Turocy was unique in that if she was able to be at a scan, she made sure to be there (and when she wasn't, they were not major scans). After two and a half years of infertility, I found a doctor who exceeded my expectations - in terms of her intellect, thinking outside the box, her clarity on treatment, and most importantly, her empathy and bedside manner.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Jenna Turocy at Columbia University?
Don't be afraid to ask questions about your treatment if you don't understand something - she welcomes questions and is always happy to explain something that may be unclear.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Jenna Turocy at Columbia University?
From my first consultation with Dr. Turocy, through all of the appointments and scans, Dr. Turocy always made me feel like a priority. She knew my case backward and forwards. I came to her from a prior clinic, and even before arriving at Columbia, she had read my complete file and was incredibly thorough. In addition, Dr. Turocy always made herself available - whenever I had questions (which was often) I was able to email her directly, and she was always responsive no matter how big or small the question was.
Describe the protocols Jenna Turocy used in your cycles at Columbia University and their degree of success.
Dr. Turocy started my treatment by conducting a diagnostic hysteroscopy - I had previous hysteroscopies previously (a uterine septum removed, after a D&C), so Dr. Turocy started with that so she could get a comprehensive look at my uterus. After doing multiple medicated frozen transfers, Dr. Turocy decided to do a natural frozen transfer (meaning, my body would ovulate on its own instead of simulating ovulation). Since I have PCOS and irregular periods, I started with letrozole to grow follicles, then moved onto injectables when the letrozole was not so effective. In addition, she placed me on metormin and lovenox (and progesterone suppositories). Lastly, a couple of days before the transfer, she did a new minor procedure (like a pap smear) called a PRP where she injected my hemoglobin (taken from a blood draw) and injected it into my uterus to stimulate additional blood flow to the area.
Describe your experience with your nurse at Columbia University. (Assigned nurse: Sakari joseph )
I had been used to clinics where I either communicated with different nurses each visit, or had non-responsive nurses. When I came to Columbia, that all changed. I was assigned a nurse, and she emailed my blood results/next steps very promptly the afternoon that I had received my blood drawn. She always made herself available, answered all of my questions, and would make sure to confirm with Dr. Turocy if there was anything she was not 100% certain of. I appreciated her empathy throughout the entire process.
Describe your experience with Columbia University.
Some strengths of the clinic:
1. You schedule your own bloodwork/ultrasound appointments on their patient portal - this saved me so much time waiting on hold with reception (compared to other clinics), and I was able to schedule them on my own time.
2. The wait time was far shorter than the prior two clinics I had been to - I never found myself waiting a long time to be seen by a nurse/doctor. The phlebotomist and nursing teams were incredibly efficient.
3. I liked that my blood results came through email instead of phone - as a working person, it was often difficult to answer phone calls at the office especially when I was receiving such important news. Having it come through email made it much easier - of course, if I preferred a phone call, the office definitely could have accommodated that.
Describe the costs associated with your care under Jenna Turocy at Columbia University.
Thankfully, my insurance covered IVF, so I payed a $50 co-pay for each appointment, and there were some copays with medications, and with the hysteroscopy that I had done.
Describe Jenna Turocy's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Columbia University.
Given my age and the quality of my embryos, Dr. Turocy encouraged a single embryo transfer.

How was your experience with Lauren Bishop at Columbia University?
Dr Bishop is a patient person. She is graceful and kind. She is not going to be all over you during the treatment, but you will feel like she is walking with you through out the journey. In my case she educated me on many things I did not know and a lot of misconceptions I had about the process. I liked that she was direct with what her assessment of the problems are and we worked together to come up with a plan of action. She was there for the major procedures but always informed us if she a different doctor would see us instead of her. At this point, we are hopeful that we shall soon have a baby in our hands and we are thankful to her and her team.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Lauren Bishop at Columbia University?
Don't be afraid to tell her exactly how you feel, or what you would like. If it is possible, she will work with you for the best outcome.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Lauren Bishop at Columbia University?
I felt more like a human, because she treated us with respect and was honest with us concerning our issues. She listened to our concerns and opinions, and worked with us to find what would work best. She was empathetic and kind. She always informed us when there would be changes so we were not surprised. She answered our emails promptly.

They are professional and provide expert care.
Weaknesses: I cannot think of any at the moment
Describe the costs associated with your care under Lauren Bishop at Columbia University.
I had to pay out of pocket for the embryo biopsy and pre-genetic testing, since my insurance does not pay for that
Describe Lauren Bishop's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Columbia University.
She preferred to do a single embryo transfer. She educated me on the trade offs
She [Dr. Insogna] is incredibly patient with me, communicates sensitively and promptly yet honestly, considers my whole personhood, answers my questions rapidly, competently, simply and completely, consistently checks in on how I'm doing with the IVF process (physically and emotionally) and beyond...even accommodates my husband's needs, fears, questions, etc. with so much grace...
My nurse, care coordinator and the other nursing staff [at Columbia University] that I interact during visits with are kind, considerate, thorough and great at what they do...clean, efficient and thorough. My only qualm is the communication system. When they are closed and the answering service picks up they will only contact the doctor on call for a short list of reasons and sometimes my needs have fallen outside of that sphere and it has caused me a lot of anxiety and stress...
How was your experience with Iris Insogna at Columbia University?
Dr. Insogna is the most humane physician I have EVER worked with. She clearly works just as hard to treat me with kindness and compassion as she does to meet my physical, medical needs, yet she does that excellently as well. She is incredibly patient with me, communicates sensitively and promptly yet honestly, considers my whole personhood, answers my questions rapidly, competently, simply and completely, consistently checks in on how I'm doing with the IVF process (physically and emotionally) and beyond it, and even accommodates my husband's needs, fears, questions, etc. with so much grace. She is a dream. I love absolutely EVERYTHING about this doctor and it has been an honor to work with her and has literally set a new standard for my medical care going forward. I would recommend her to absolutely anyone I care about.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Iris Insogna at Columbia University?
Share your whole heart with her. Be a whole human, express yourself honestly as such and she will meet you where you are and you will never regret it.

Describe the protocols Iris Insogna used in your cycles at Columbia University and their degree of success.
Timed intercourse because I have PCOS and need help with ovulation so we started with minimal intervention and I only took oral drugs to help me ovulate. When that did not work twice, I asked to move to the next stage of intervention so we attempted an IUI and I never ovulated using Letrozole. Dr. Insogna recommended we move to IVF because she knows I want to get pregnant asap and because more potent ovulation meds might result in multiples given that I have a robust number of eggs. I then did an egg retrieval that resulted in 11 perfect embryos, 5 imperfect but viable and 2 that are not recommended for use and I will undergo my first transfer in 3 weeks.

Everyone I work with at Columbia is great. My nurse, care coordinator and the other nursing staff that I interact during visits with are kind, considerate, thorough and great at what they do.
Describe your experience with Columbia University.
The clinic is mostly great. It is clean, efficient and thorough. My only qualm is the communication system. When they are closed and the answering service picks up they will only contact the doctor on call for a short list of reasons and sometimes my needs have fallen outside of that sphere and it has caused me a lot of anxiety and stress. I think they should have a voicemail box that you can leave a message out during off hours and maybe the ability to text the on call doctor so that they can quickly respond without being inundated with calls.

Describe Iris Insogna's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Columbia University.
Dr. Insogna prefers one egg at at time for me given my embryo number, age, health, etc. in the hopes of my having the safest pregnancy possible and I agree.
What specific things went wrong at Columbia University?
Provided conflicting information
Describe the specific things that went wrong at Columbia University.
I have only once spoken to the on call doctor who told me something slightly different than my own doctor but we are all human and so we will not always align perfectly. The on call doctor also didn't have as much information as my primary physician.
Dr. Bishop is very thorough and detail-oriented, and everyone on the team were super professional and responsive. I was very stressed when I first learned about my diagnosis, and Dr. Bishop listened to me and suggested ways that I could gather reliable information so I don't freak out googling my symptoms online. My husband and I felt very much supported during the whole process...

I really like the five person team and it made me feel secure and know who to talk to if anything comes up...

Dr. Bishop is a wonderful fertility doctor and you won't regret it to choose her!
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Lauren Bishop at Columbia University?
Dr. Bishop is so patient and responsive during the whole process. We never felt rushed or left confused. She makes sure to answer all the questions that we have and she is very attentive to details. We felt our treatment was personalized and she always explains the next step and let us understand why.
Describe the protocols Lauren Bishop used in your cycles at Columbia University and their degree of success.
I was diagnosed with PCOS and anovulation. Dr. Bishop suggested to either IUI and IVF, which both are recommended in our case and it was up to us why one we want to go with. After choosing IUI, I started to monitoring my cycle and was prescribed with 2.5mg Letrozole and 250mcg Ovidrel. I took Letrozole the second day after my period. Then it turned out that I ovulated a week late and when it was time, I did the injection (Ovidrel) at home and went in for insemination the next day. Dr. Bishop suggested to try 5mg Letrozole since it seemed I didn't respond to that for next cycle. However, we got pregnant the first round! We were thrilled.

Columbia is very well-organized. The protocol to assign each patient a five person team makes the treatment and care very much personalized. There are always people on call to answer any questions you may have, even on weekends! So I was never left worried or confused during the whole process. The process of scheduling morning monitoring appointment was so easy that every patient can do it on the app and there were always tons of appointments even in the early mornings, so I never had to worry about it may affect work. I never had to wait a long time. A lot of time it was in and out so the clinic was super efficient. The facility is located in a super accessible area and it was very clean and nice inside. I highly recommend Columbia Fertility!
Describe the costs associated with your care under Lauren Bishop at Columbia University.
We were lucky enough to have our insurance cover all the costs for the IUI. However, we were informed about the costs if we were to pay it ourselves. There were two week period when we didn't have insurance, we were informed about the costs before going in for any tests. So it was very transparent and we know what to expect. The financial coordinator was really helpful when it comes to insurance coverage and costs.
Dr. Brady is an excellent communicator. We always heard back from her directly with any questions or requests we had, usually within 24 hours, even on weekends...always clear with her point of view and her recommendation if things were not perfect and because of that, we trusted her implicitly. She made a typically overwhelming process manageable...you always knew if something was a big deal / concern or it wasn't, which is a huge comfort in an ever stressful situation...
We loved CUFC. [Columbia University] It feels and looks more like a spa than a clinic. The staff works SO quickly for morning monitoring and all appointments, we never had to wait long at all. The staff is friendly and remembers their patients, I honestly enjoyed all of my appointments there...I only met my nurse in person once (covid) but she was always a great communicator and helped answer any questions we had...

Dr. Brady is an incredible doctor and we will continue to see her for any future needs to continue to grow our family. Many other reviewers sing her praises so I would like to point out two things in particular. Dr. Brady is an excellent communicator. We always heard back from her directly with any questions or requests we had, usually within 24 hours, even on weekends. Another thing we really appreciated about Dr. Brady was that you always knew if something was a big deal / concern or it wasn't, which is a huge comfort in an ever stressful situation. Dr. Brady was very specific in her care and treatment. We knew she provided direction based on our unique situation.
Describe the protocols Paula Brady used in your cycles at Columbia University and their degree of success.
We did one egg retrieval which was successful. We used icsi to fertilize the eggs and did genetic testing on the embryos. We were very happy with the number of healthy embryos we were able to freeze.
It took a long time for my body to recover from the retrieval (my ovaries were enlarged) and Dr. Brady worked with us on a plan to recover and try a transfer in the future. Unfortunately our first transfer did not work but our second one did and we are half way to meeting our first child!

We are very fortunate to have great fertility coverage from my company via Progyny. They covered most costs.
Describe Paula Brady's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Columbia University.
Dr. Brady recommends single embryo transfer but is open to multiple should the situation call for it. For our second transfer, Dr. Brady recommended we transfer 2 embryos as one of them did not look as strong as she would've preferred and she wanted to get our potential success rate back up. This plan worked and we are pregnant with one baby!
For us Dr. Turocy wanted us to try naturally. We learned that I have PCOS which was the only cause of us/me not getting pregnant. So after both me and my husband were checked out. We were all set to start me on medication when she discovered I was pregnant! Unbelievable after months/a year of trying. I miscarriage my 1st pregnancy so she watched me very carefully during the 1st 10 weeks. Regular check-ups and ultrasounds. I felt very well taken care of...

How was your experience with Jenna Turocy at Columbia University?
Both my husband and I were extremely nervous about starting this process. But Dr. Turocy really made us at ease. She was amazing! Lucky I/we got pregnant extremely early in the process 😀. Dr. Turocy hardly needed to do anything with me except be there for me while my baby grew. I got the chance to have very early ultrasounds and we were able to hear the heartbeat at 6 weeks! An unbelievable experience! I almost didn’t want to change doctors. I wish she could be my OB as well. She asked for me to stay in contact and I have! I am so grateful to her and when my husband and I are ready to have another baby we will be back!
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Jenna Turocy at Columbia University?
Ask her questions! I promise she’ll take the time to answer you even the ones you feel are dumb. Don’t be afraid to email her she’ll answer you!

After each check up she would sit down in a chair in the room and candidly answer every question me or my husband asked her. If I sent her an email she would respond the same day. And she remembered things about me. Small details I had offhandedly told her.

How was your experience with Eric Forman at Columbia University?
Dr. Forman is a great communicator, which is so needed in an IVF process, which is multilayered and sometimes confusing. He was very responsive to my email queries outside of appointment time as well as in the appointments when I met with him in person. He is personable and empathic but is also very straight and direct about the facts of one's individual case. This forthrightness builds trust.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Eric Forman at Columbia University?
I would highly recommend a client book a consult with Dr. Forman if considering IVF and deciding on a doctor and clinic in NYC.

Describe the protocols Eric Forman used in your cycles at Columbia University and their degree of success.
I was 50 when I met with Dr. Forman for the first time. I wanted to have a child, but my partner had passed away unexpectedly. We had been trying for a child together at this late stage in life but had been unsuccessful. Dr. Forman advised that I would have the best chance of IVF success and a healthy baby with a donor egg, given my age. His team helped me navigate the donor selection process. Once that was completed, embryos were created and tested for viability, and an embryo transfer was scheduled. The embryo transfer was successful on the first try!
Describe your experience with your nurse at Columbia University. (Assigned nurse: Gertrude Wilfred)
All of the nursing staff were warm and empathic. I also found that they were organized and ready and able to answer any of my questions during a visit.
Describe your experience with Columbia University.
I really have no weaknesses to report about this clinic. I found all communications to be organized and well articulated, whether in billing, clinical, care coordination, or admin. I felt very supported by Peri Lowell who helps patients navigate the donor process, which can have multiple steps and decision pathways that feel complex and overwhelming at times.
Describe Eric Forman's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Columbia University.
One of the reasons I chose Dr. Forman was his research and subsequent recommendation for single embryo transfers over multiples. I did not want to take the risk of potentially having twins/multiples through IVF.
Dr. Insogna is the sweetest, smartest doctor ever. Her warmth and support throughout this emotional process carried us through. Her motivation and genuine care is unprecedented in the field. She is beyond personable, relatable, and truly committed to her patients and their partners...She held my hand (both figuratively and literally) during milestone events. My husband and I established a personal relationship with her that felt natural and comforting, unlike anything we have experienced in the medical field

Dr. Insogna was invested in our success. She explained everything thoroughly and with compassion. She held my hand (both figuratively and literally) during milestone events. My husband and I established a personal relationship with her that felt natural and comforting, unlike anything we have experienced in the medical field. Fertility can be lonely but Dr. Insogna and her team made us feel seen and important. Her treatment plan worked and I am successfully pregnant and graduating from Columbia Fertility in the upcoming days. I will continue to check in with Dr. Insogna (as she told us to send updates) and will absolutely return to her for future pregnancies. After all, she made it happen!
I cannot recommend her enough!!! She is a true gem!
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Iris Insogna at Columbia University?
I definitely did not feel like a number. Dr. Insogna is the sweetest, smartest doctor ever. Her warmth and support throughout this emotional process carried us through. Describe your experience with your nurse at Columbia University. (Assigned nurse: Margaret Baazova)
I could write a novel! I established a very special relationship with my core team. I cannot thank them enough for the professional, tender care they provided.
Margaret Baazova, sonographer, has become a friend. She is genuinely invested in my fertility success and has been supporting me from the beginning. We established an incredible connection from the start and she took such great care of me throughout the process. Margaret is extremely knowledgeable, passionate, and professional. She always explained everything thoroughly and was able to answer questions and ease potential concerns. The practice is extremely lucky to have her – she is a true asset.
When I came to Columbia Fertility I had an irrational fear of needles. I would faint from bloodwork. The entire team – Margaret included – accommodated my situation and would prepare an exam room ahead of time for bloodwork so that I could lay down during the routine blood draws. One nurse in particular, Megan, was so patient and kind to me, and took the time to make me feel as comfortable as possible. I felt at ease with Megan and over time the fear subsided. She was understanding of my fear and would walk me through each step, encouraging me to breathe at specific times. This seems trivial but as a patient who would faint previously she really made the process much easier and more tolerable. I appreciated her kind understanding and compassion.
I truly felt SO supported by Margaret and Megan. I never felt like a number at this practice. I am so lucky to have had a dedicated and trustworthy team. I could not have done this without their genuine care! I will continue to check in with them throughout my pregnancy as they were integral to my fertility experience!

He [Dr. Forman] has a sense of calmness to him which i think for folks like me (high anxious) works in his favor. I did not feel like he was pushing me unnecessarily towards any procedure. He performed the necessary tests and clearly explained the results, options available etc...His willingness to provide a clear path of what to expect and who will be involved in your care during each stage. During my process, he was going to be on vacation but he mentioned this to me before we started and gave me the choice.
Clinic [Columbia University] is great ... I think the only part where I had to do a lot more follow up and chasing was on the admin side but otherwise the actual individuals who physically took care of me were great. A couple of times another doctor and fellow had to step in when Dr Forman was not available she felt a bit more transactional with me but otherwise the whole experience has been good...

He performed the necessary tests and clearly explained the results, options available etc. I also had the benefit of comparison because before him i had had my consultation with a doctor at another practice who really felt like a salesman (i.e. just scared me without explaining anything when i asked multiple times). I appreciated that Dr Forman has been upfront and explains things.
2nd - His willingness to provide a clear path of what to expect and who will be involved in your care during each stage. During my process, he was going to be on vacation but he mentioned this to me before we started and gave me the choice.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Eric Forman at Columbia University?
Be open with him, he communicates so likewise just make sure you communicate as well. You're in good hands. He also was Dr to a friend of mine.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Eric Forman at Columbia University?
It really has felt like when Dr Forman communicates he has read your chart, remembers your story and the most important part was the responsiveness and willingness to answer any questions. I am a highly anxious person so i work better when i know what to expect and when things are explained to me regardless or whether the expected outcomes is in or not in my favor. I mentioned this to him in the beginning and so throughout he has been explaining the results and provided a bit more context to questions I had.
Describe the protocols Eric Forman used in your cycles at Columbia University and their degree of success.
For the ovarian stimulation, I was on Menopur 2vials, Follistim 300. My dosage didn't change throughout. I was on same dosage of those for about 11 days before the trigger shot.
Describe your experience with your nurse at Columbia University. (Assigned nurse: Christine)
The whole team is amazing. Again i had the benefit of comparison with another practice. While it is very clear that everyone here is operating on a system, standard emails etc they do take the extra few minutes to explain things when you ask. Very responsive.
Describe your experience with Columbia University.
Clinic is great ... I think the only part where I had to do a lot more follow up and chasing was on the admin side but otherwise the actual individuals who physically took care of me were great. A couple of times another doctor and fellow had to step in when Dr Forman was not available she felt a bit more transactional with me but otherwise the whole experience has been good.
Describe your experience with your monitoring appointments at Columbia University.
The system works. The only piece with me about this process is i wish they provided more context as they were doing the observation. When i asked they responded though so not bad.
Describe the costs associated with your care under Eric Forman at Columbia University.
We were paying everything out of pocket except (insurance didnt cover) for diagnostic testing. For the embryo preservation the cost was about $18k and then medications $6k. On the medications the tip from the nurse was i could order as we go to avoid ordering too much that you dont end up using. The nurse would advise me. This was helpful esp since everything was out of pocket.
At first we weren’t sure about Dr. Bishop, but over time the more we met with her the more we liked her. She isn’t necessarily the warmest doctor, but always gives very full and honest explanations of treatment plans, risks, and success rates...won’t push any options on you, so you’ll have to really think about what is the best option for you and your family.
Columbia is a great facility. The staff is kind and there is great communication. We are glad to have a designated person for each need - care coordination, nurse coordination, financial counseling, and our doctor. We feel like we have a whole team and there is always someone to help if we have questions...Trust your gut. Dr. Bishop won’t push any options on you, so you’ll have to really think about what is the best option for you and your family.

Dr. Bishop doesn’t always come off so warm over zoom, but in person she is bubbly and friendly. She always answers questions honestly and responds to emails in a timely manner.

We had 3 clomid IUIs. I responded well to a low dose the first round and my husband had a good sample, but it failed. The second round I only produced one follicle and my husband’s sample wasn’t as strong, so that failed as well. For the third IUI we did a higher dose and I had a great response - unfortunately my husband had COVID right before the IUI and his sample was very weak so that one failed too.
