This is the most recent data from the CDC. The CDC cautions that it should not be used to compare doctors and clinics. This data represents the outcomes of IVF cycles when using a person's own eggs.
For more information please see our FAQs.
Where you see a “?” on the chart, a clinic has done fewer than 20 cycles in this category and age range, so the CDC says showing percentages from this small data set would be misleading and unreliable.
From the minute I walked in he made me feel comfortable. They did every test they could to figure out I couldn't get pregnant. Then I had my surgery to remove A polyp in my uterus. I was so scared but when he came in the room all my fears were gone. And I was pregnant two weeks later with my beautiful almost three old. I cried when I left them to go to my obgyn

Dr. Bush did a great job of explaining all of our options up front. He told us what he recommended but that we didn’t have to do what he recommended in the order he recommended it. He let us choose which route would be best for ourselves emotionally and financially. He answered all of my questions during our consultation appointment. We felt like he genuinely wanted us to get our baby.
[Conceptions Reproductive Associates] Strengths: easy to contact, easy to get an appointment, very accommodating for working schedules, super friendly and compassionate nursing staff, very knowledgeable embryologists, really helpful IVF class that got us ready to dive into IVF. Weaknesses: honestly the only weakness I can come up with would be Dr. Bush’s blunt and clinical nature-I can see how that would be off putting to some people. We were successful on our first round of IVF, which I know isn’t always the case, so we were overly thrilled with our experience.
How was your experience with Mark Bush at RMA of Colorado - Conceptions Reproductive Associates?
Dr. Bush was prompt and efficient. When we first met with Dr. Bush we had already gone through 3.5 years of trying on our own and a year of Clomid and other measures with my OBGYN. Dr. Bush reviewed all of our screenings and tests before our initial consultation so we felt like our time wasn’t wasted. He was very clinical and frankly quite blunt but we actually appreciated that approach. We weren’t looking for someone to beat around the bush at this point. Dr. Bush was very confident that despite a diagnosis of unexplained infertility he would get us a baby of our own. He was very proud of his clinic. The initial impression definitely came off a touch cocky, honestly. But we were glad to know we were with a doctor who was very confident in his practice. In our consultation appointment, I came with a full list of questions and he actually took the page from me and went down and specifically answered every single question. We felt very confident in his ability to treat our case. We felt like he genuinely wanted us to be successful.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Mark Bush at RMA of Colorado - Conceptions Reproductive Associates?
Don’t be turned off by his clinical nature. Despite a blunt delivery, he truly cares about his patients’ success.

Describe the protocols Mark Bush used in your cycles at RMA of Colorado - Conceptions Reproductive Associates and their degree of success.
Dr. Bush recommended going straight to IVF. Due to insurance and financial matters, we opted to try IUI first. We did three rounds of IUI. I honestly don’t remember our IUI procedure other than doing a trigger shot 24 hours before the IUI.
We moved on to IVF after 3 unsuccessful IUIs. IVF protocol started with birth control. Due to my chronic hypertension, I can’t birth control pills so I requested an alternative option. I was able to use NuvaRing instead of the pill prior to egg retrieval and transfer. I did 9 days of stimulation prior to egg retrieval. I took Menopur, Omnitrope, and Gonal-F every day. I was also taking synthroid and vitamin because some test results showed I had low thyroid and vitamin d levels. I took a trigger shot before egg retrieval. They retrieved 18 eggs, 10 were mature, and 5 were successfully fertilized using ICSI. By day 5 only 3 were ready for freezing. We did PGT-A testing and 2 came back normal.
After retrieval I had a trial embryo transfer and hysteroscopy. The TET went very well but the hysteroscopy showed that I had several uterine polyps that would have to be removed before transfer. I chose to have this done with my OBGYN because of insurance/financial reasons. After polyps were removed we were cleared for transfer. Then COVID-19 happened and our clinic was forced to shut down which canceled our transfer. We were able to get rescheduled 2 months later when the clinic reopened. I did a normal transfer protocol plus omnitrope. I asked about intralipid infusions but Dr. Bush said he didn’t think it was necessary. I heeded his recommendation here and we did not do the infusions. I did do acupuncture for three weeks leading up to transfer, immediately before and after transfer and for three weeks following transfer. Our embryo went through thawing and assisted hatching before transfer. Our transfer was successful and I gave birth to our healthy baby boy in February 2021!
Describe your experience with your nurse at RMA of Colorado - Conceptions Reproductive Associates. (Assigned nurse: Veronica (IVF) and Jessica (Transfer))
I can’t sing enough praises for Veronica and Jessica and the other nursing staff at Conceptions. Veronica and Jessica both were exceptional communicators. They answered my millions of emails promptly and with compassion. Veronica and explained all of the medications and when to take them very well. Jessica even showed us exactly where to do the PIO shots. The phlebotomist at the Lone Tree location was so sweet and I felt like she was as invested in this journey as I was. The phlebotomist at the Littleton location could be a little chatty and sometimes shared too much.
Veronica and Jessica are on our favorite people list.

I was in and out within 15 minutes and the ultrasound tech and phlebotomist were the sweetest!

Describe Mark Bush's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at RMA of Colorado - Conceptions Reproductive Associates.
We agreed with Dr. Bush’s recommendation of transferring one embryo because he and his team showed pretty convincingly how their high rate of pregnancy could lead to a high rate of multiples. And we definitely were not trying for multiples.

Describe the specific things that went wrong at RMA of Colorado - Conceptions Reproductive Associates.
Because of my chronic hypertension, I cannot take birth control pills. I had to ask for another birth control option.
Dr. O strongly believes in a single transfer. She is open to a 2-embryo transfer in my case now with so many failed attempts, but still STRONGLY prefers a single transfer approach...She is very straight-forward and to-the-point. She is up on her research, able to cite the latest studies when giving her plan for the best course of action. She’s not warm and fuzzy though, at all. When I had a miscarriage she didn’t call or email to reach out, we didn’t hear anything from her until our follow-up almost a month later. I appreciate her honesty, but in the world of infertility a little compassion goes a long ways
A full IVF cycle [at Conceptions Reproductive Associates] including all lab work, ultrasounds, retrieval, embryo testing, and 1 frozen transfer was around $19,000...19 eggs were retrieved, 16 fertilized, 11 made it to day 5 for PGS testing and freeze...You are assigned a nurse at the beginning during any preliminary testing and for paperwork. When that’s all completed and you’re ready for an IVF cycle, you are assigned a nurse who is in charge of all communication and questions for your cycle. Then you are assigned a nurse who only does frozen embryo transfers who handles all your scheduling and questions and communication during that step. Conceptions has their nursing staff well-allocated and stream-lined for a great experience
How was your experience with Althea O'Shaughnessy at RMA of Colorado - Conceptions Reproductive Associates?
Dr. O is highly skilled and extremely knowledgeable. She is very straight-forward and to-the-point. She is up on her research, able to cite the latest studies when giving her plan for the best course of action. She’s not warm and fuzzy though, at all. When I had a miscarriage she didn’t call or email to reach out, we didn’t hear anything from her until our follow-up almost a month later. I appreciate her honesty, but in the world of infertility a little compassion goes a long ways. I don’t think she’s mean or rude, nothing like that, but she just feels cold.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Althea O'Shaughnessy at RMA of Colorado - Conceptions Reproductive Associates?
She’s from New York. She has the brusque abruptness that I’ve heard New Yorkers often have lol. She’s a great doctor though, knows her stuff and gets things done efficiently.

Dr. O doesn’t know specifics about me until the start of our appt when she’s going through her notes. I know she sees a ton of patients, so I don’t expect her to remember personal things of course, but it would help me to feel less like another number
Describe the protocols Althea O'Shaughnessy used in your cycles at RMA of Colorado - Conceptions Reproductive Associates and their degree of success.
During the IVF cycle, I had an antagonist protocol with omnitrope. I did 1 vial menopur and 300 gonal-f pretty consistently. I had a lab draw and ultrasound on days 2 and 6, then daily on cycle days 7-13. 19 eggs were retrieved, 16 fertilized, 11 made it to day 5 for PGS testing and freeze, 8 embryos passed the testing. Dr. O saw on hysteeosalpingogram that my tubes were hyrdrosalpinxed and they were removed, then I had a frozen embryo transfer 2 months later. It resulted in a negative pregnancy test. We had another transfer a couple months later that was positive, and I miscarried at 6 weeks for unknown reason. Repeated hysteroscopy and some blood work, and ready to try another transfer in 2 months

Dr.Greene was approachable and understanding throughout all of our treatments. After our egg retrieval none made it past day 2 and I felt like he was able to share that disappointment with us...also able to talk about next steps without making it intimidating while honoring what we had just been through and the failure we experienced...explains why he is changing protocol and is able to discuss what did not work after a failed cycle.
[Conceptions Reproductive Associates] did a really great job with scheduling and remaining flexible. I was able to go to 3 different locations...They would schedule me for labs and ultrasounds at whatever location was most convenient for me and this was incredibly important given the number of appointments we had. The people in the labs were great...all of the nurses are helpful, compassionate and communicative. I felt like they took time to really talk to me and put me at ease throughout my treatments.

Dr.Greene made my husband and I feel very comfortable. He is warm and thorough while remaining open about what outcomes could potentially be. He also explains why he is changing protocol and is able to discuss what did not work after a failed cycle. I have PCOS and prior to egg retrieval my Menopur to encourage egg growth as we were hoping for them to develop more and were nearing 2 weeks on medications. We ended up going in for retrieval shortly thereafter because he did not want me to have OHSS. I felt like he really monitored me progression to keep me healthy while getting the best results. I was also taking Cetrotide to prevent ovulation.

I felt like they did a really great job with scheduling and remaining flexible. I was able to go to 3 different locations which was very convenient for me and they were completely supportive. I did this because my doctor is in Lafayette but my job is in Denver and it was easier for me to go to the Denver location for treatments. They would schedule me for labs and ultrasounds at whatever location was most convenient for me and this was incredibly important given the number of appointments we had. The people in the labs were great and so were the nurse. I have nothing but positive things to say.
Describe the costs associated with your care under Robert Greene at RMA of Colorado - Conceptions Reproductive Associates.
For IVF with genetic testing and more that 10 eggs retrieved we payed around $26,000. We did not transfer any embryos as the eggs fertilized but did not make it past day 2 due to an egg quality issue.
Describe Robert Greene's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at RMA of Colorado - Conceptions Reproductive Associates.
Dr.Greene prefers to transfer one embryo but is open to transferring two depending on the situation. He is not willing to transfer more than two due to health risks.

How was your experience with Natalia Grob at RMA of Colorado - Conceptions Reproductive Associates?
We initially chose Dr. Grindler based on her nutritional and environmental approach to infertility. As I imagine it is with every couple, it was a hard struggle to accept infertility was our reality. As someone who doesn’t even like to take Advil, I was facing a battle against my values knowing I would have many rounds of medications and injections. Dr. Grindler shared numerous articles and research on diet and lifestyle recommendations that made the whole process a little easier to swallow.
While we only physically saw Dr. Grindler a handful of times over the course of our treatment, each visit she came prepared with all lab results and a plan of action for moving forward. She explained in detail our results and was readily available for any questions we may have.
We were diagnosed with mild diminished ovarian reserve and a slight male factor, Dr. Grindler recommended IVF as our best course of action however, respected that we wanted to try IUI before taking the plunge into the scary and overwhelming world of IVF. While our two rounds of IUI were unsuccessful, Dr. Grindler treated us with the upmost care and respect and never made us feel that our chosen path to treatment was wasteful. While I communicated with nurses daily, I knew Dr. Grindler’s expertise and extensive knowledge was at the backbone of our treatment and played a high role in our successful egg retrieval.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Natalia Grob at RMA of Colorado - Conceptions Reproductive Associates?
Put your trust in their hands - Conceptions is highly regarded and has the best live birth rates in the country. Their facility, practice and doctors are ahead of the game, paving the path to success.

Dr. Grindler has such a kind heart and warm smile, from the moment we met with her for our initial consultation, we felt like we were in caring hands. Dr. Grindler explained the full process right from the start and mapped out all of our options for us, giving her best recommendation but also respecting our choices along the way.
Describe the protocols Natalia Grob used in your cycles at RMA of Colorado - Conceptions Reproductive Associates and their degree of success.
Prior to starting treatment, various diagnostic testing is preformed to ensure the best course of treatment: Pap Smear, Ovarian Reserve Testing, Vitamin D, Thryoid, Infectious Disease, HSG and Semen Analysis.
We were assigned the Antagonist protocol, Conceptions uses a three phase treatment cycle for IVF and requires you and your partner take an IVF class prior to retrieval. Here they explain the full IVF process and show you how to administer medication. This class was SO helpful and relived a lot of anxiety I had for administering injections. My overall experience was so much better than I expected – I had truly expected the worse out of IVF however, I the class helped me to overcome my fear of administering injections, I ended up giving myself all shots with the exception of the Trigger. I even found that the egg retrieval wasn’t as painful as I had expected, recovery was quick and I was back to work the next day. We had a great outcome, we started with 26 eggs being retrieved, 16 of which fertilized. We ended up sending 8 embryos off for genetic testing, 5 of which came back as viable embryos to transfer.
Phase 1 is IVF Stimulation and Embryo Development. During this phase, I was placed on birth control for a couple weeks followed by 1.5 weeks of twice daily home injections and daily blood and ultrasound visits. I had two trigger shots once my ovaries had reached their peak in stimulation and egg retrieval followed. Conceptions uses ICSI for the insemination technique and freezes all viable embryos. Their You’ll learn the number of eggs retrieved the same day of your retrieval, their Embryology Lab calls you the next morning with the number that fertilized overnight and a second phone call a few days later confirming how many embryos developed. Embryos are then sent off for genetic testing, which takes about two weeks to get results back.
Phase 2 they call the “Wash Month”, which allows hormone levels to return back to normal and ovaries to recover from stimulation. I was placed back on birth control for a few weeks and had three uterine procedures: Hysteroscopy (this I found to be the most painful of everything related to IVF), Trial Embryo Transfer and Doppler Ultrasound (all done on the same visit). This phase is where you’ll learn the genetic screening results confirming the final number of viable embryos, if you had testing preformed.
Phase 3 is the Frozen Embryo Transfer, which takes 6-8 weeks. I’m currently at this stage, which unfortunately got put on hold due to COVID-19.

Describe Natalia Grob's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at RMA of Colorado - Conceptions Reproductive Associates.
Conceptions recommends transferring one embryo at a time for the best outcome as well as the health and safety of the baby and mother. However, they do not prohibit multiple embryo transfers if that is what the patient prefers. They explain the risks involved with transferring multiple embryos and that there is a chance for the embryos to divide resulting in triplets or even quadruplets.

Failed to call in prescriptions to pharmacy
Lost appointments
Describe the specific things that went wrong at RMA of Colorado - Conceptions Reproductive Associates.
While going through daily blood and ultrasounds for Phase 1 of IVF Stimulation, I had testing done at their Denver Rose office as it was in close proximity to my work. My nurse had scheduled and confirmed all my appointments with me however, the appointments to have my blood drawn each day did not transfer over to the Denver Rose location. While I knew that I needed blood drawn every day, some patients may have just trusted what the front desk had on their calendar. This also caused a delay in their schedules as they didn't have me scheduled and had to build in time while I was there.
I'm a bit of a perfectionist, and for good reason - while reviewing medication orders at our IVF class, I realized that the names of the trigger shots they were discussing were not listed on my prescription list. Luckily I had caught the mistake and had time to get the shot mailed to me. However, that mistake could have been drastic if it wasn't noticed as the trigger shot is the most important and timely shot of them all.
Know that you are in for an in depth conversation [with Dr. Mark Bush], very specific to your body and it's needs. Come with knowledge of the process and common IVF acronyms. It will help expedite the consultation and provide opportunity for you to ask questions...After being diagnosed with ashermans and having multiple surgeries to resect the scar tissue, I was on hormone therapy using estradiol 2 mg pills twice a day and del estrogen injections to rebuild the lining. We tried a couple different protocols, using Viagra or Cialis with pentoxy to help encourage uterine lining growth. The final successful cycle involved Viagra, estradiol 2mg, pentoxy, del estrogen and HCG (new study released Dec 2017). I used acupuncture during all if my treatments and it was an integral part of our success and highly recommended by Dr. Bush.
They [the nurses at Conceptions] supported me through happy days and sad. Whether they we're greeting me in passing, drawing my blood, explaining test results, reviewing medication, or grieving with me, they all provided perfect care...In seven years, one egg retrieval, four transfers and four surgeries, and lots of medication, we spent around $50,000. Elevators are available when walking the stairs wasn't recommended. Easy access to blood draw area and waiting room always had something for me or my son (first IVF baby of ours) to do.
How was your experience with Mark Bush at RMA of Colorado - Conceptions Reproductive Associates?
He was straight forward, yet took the time to explain all the ins and outs, acronyms, processes, possibilities with us. Tried IUI with estradiol, letrozole and luteal HCG because we hadn't tried IUI yet and infertility was unexplained. When that didn't work (twice), we began egg retrieval stimulation using follistem, menopur and saizen (saizen due to suspected poor egg quality). We froze all embryos for PGD since we didn't know why I couldn't get pregnant, nor why I miscarried. Around retrieval time, I also took doxycycline, nexium and a novarel trigger. The trigger was a half dose due to my high estradiol results. I needed ganirilex injections as I was very close to ovarian hyperstimulation. The next month, I started birth control pills to calm my own hormones and allow doc to control them with meds. For the transfer, I was on lupron, estradiol, and progesterone in oil with medrol right around transfer.

Describe Mark Bush's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at RMA of Colorado - Conceptions Reproductive Associates.
He was open to our decision but encouraged us to transfer one at a time when we asked him what he would do if he were in our position.
He [Dr. Mark Bush] was very helpful and encouraging. Honest approach and matching to patients real life needs without pushing hai own opinions. I was going through divorce and I needed to save my eggs, and he listened to my needs and goals without judging me...Dr.Bush was able to understand what I’m going through and accepted my choice which was to “save my eggs first before I reach 41 years old”. Women should have right to make decision by themselves. I have only one ovary, so it made sense for me to do egg freezing and get as many eggs out as possible instead of doing whole IVF cycle with just one or two eggs.
This clinic [Conceptions Reproductive Associates] has great team work and collaborating very well with each other! Every one is well trained and provided excellent service! I felt like I’m on good hands, and I could enjoy the process because I trust the staff! Staff is very supportive and they would answer every question with so much patience unlike the mean staff of CRM...The staff was excellent! They knew exactly what they are doing! Especially nurse Erica was so good in communicating with me through email and planning early so I could prepare well.

I was going through divorce and I needed to save my eggs, and he listened to my needs and goals without judging me unlike CRM Dr.Sarah Barton who said I have low quality eggs in front of my husband and who was going through depression which made the situation even worse. Fertility doctors please don’t do that! Please treat patient as human not as money! Dr.Bush was able to understand what I’m going through and accepted my choice which was to “save my eggs first before I reach 41 years old”. Women should have right to make decision by themselves. I have only one ovary, so it made sense for me to do egg freezing and get as many eggs out as possible instead of doing whole IVF cycle with just one or two eggs.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Mark Bush at RMA of Colorado - Conceptions Reproductive Associates?
Do your homework first, be well prepared. Ask Dr.Bush the options you have. Take some time to reconsider the options, and make the choice that you agree with!
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Mark Bush at RMA of Colorado - Conceptions Reproductive Associates?
He was very honest, and listened to my needs.
Describe the protocols Mark Bush used in your cycles at RMA of Colorado - Conceptions Reproductive Associates and their degree of success.
I could tell every cycle they were using different strategies and really monitoring the follicles growth. They were manipulating the growth of my follicles by increasing and decreasing the injections unlike Dr.Sarah Barton from CRM who never cared to even manipulate my doses and give me the same dosage of injections until the end.
Describe your experience with your nurse at RMA of Colorado - Conceptions Reproductive Associates. (Assigned nurse: Erica )
The staff was excellent! They knew exactly what they are doing! Especially nurse Erica was so good in communicating with me through email and planning early so I could prepare well.
Describe your experience with RMA of Colorado - Conceptions Reproductive Associates.
This clinic has great team work and collaborating very well with each other! Every one is well trained and provided excellent service! I felt like I’m on good hands, and I could enjoy the process because I trust the staff! Staff is very supportive and they would answer every question with so much patience unlike the mean staff of CRM!
Describe the costs associated with your care under Mark Bush at RMA of Colorado - Conceptions Reproductive Associates.
It was costly, but they never canceled the cycle due to delayed payment. We had great trust developed and I did 6 egg freezing cycles in a row. Sometimes paperwork were not fast enough but still nobody stopped me and choose to trust that I will pay.
Describe Mark Bush's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at RMA of Colorado - Conceptions Reproductive Associates.
[Dr. Mark Bush's] Strengths: Transfer skills and monitoring Weaknesses: Everything else. Zero flexibility to your needs, he is not willing to try different protocols, accept embryos from any other facility you may transfer from, take a closer look or customize to you -the problem is going to be “you”- it’s never going to be anything else...If you’re looking for a doctor who will fight hard and have a “whatever it takes” attitude to be flexible to regiments/protocols for you, he is not it. One size fits all for Dr Bush,
[Conceptions Reproductive Associates] Strengths - You will get in and out of apointments quickly, billing wasn’t a headache, polite front desk, blood draws and ultrasounds Weaknesses- overall lack of compassion and testing you humanly. When my transfer failed, I heard nothing from the doctor and they just nonchalantly tried to schedule me to speak to the doctor 30 days out...Communication from my main two nurses was often arrogant, and lacked compassion
How was your experience with Mark Bush at RMA of Colorado - Conceptions Reproductive Associates?
If you’re looking for a doctor who will fight hard and have a “whatever it takes” attitude to be flexible to regiments/protocols for you, he is not it. One size fits all for Dr Bush, he is skilled, and will give it a try as long as you don’t hurt the clinics numbers . If you require customization beyond the basics that should get you pregnant- you won’t get it from him.
From my very first consultation with him, I was discouraged but moved forward because of the clinic’s track record (which I now am a bit unsure about because they do not report to SARTS).. I told myself his blunt communication was honesty, and even though the consultation me feeling discouraged I told myself compared to to other consultations that I had with other doctors who had been more encouraging perhaps he was the real
deal for not trying to “sell” to me. What I didn’t realize is he was really just showing me from the very beginning that his true focus is who might fit in the clinics successful statistics or not. I wish I would have listened to my intuition in my first consultation which was bleak and had the tone of “why havent you had success” instead of “we’re going to do what is needed to help you”.
He had me do a work up to see if he would even “accept” me. After the consultation, I was only able to communicate with him directly two more times on transfer days. I emailed him once and got a response from his nurse that he communicates through them only.
Strengths: Transfer skills and monitoring
Weaknesses: Everything else. Zero flexibility to your needs, he is not willing to try different protocols, accept embryos from any other facility you may transfer from, take a closer look or customize to you -the problem is going to be “you”- it’s never going to be anything else.
Bottom line- He has a well ran machine and formula I’ll give him that - but if you don’t fit his set formula he will just tell you that quote unquote: “you just fit in the percentage that’s not successful” at their clinic and emphasize their clinic numbers that ARE successful. Which will make you feel more horrible as a failure. Emphasizing clinic success rates as an answer at the time of someone’s failure and need to know what they can do to be successful is inconsiderate and arrogant. It was a VERY low point for me. I read he did this in others reviews and it should have been another red flag to me. But I hoped I would be on the other side of his clinic’s questionable statistics to not have to deal with that.
I can’t emphasize enough that he only cares about the clinic’s numbers. If you fit the formula, he can bring you success. **If you need customization to get success - he will not be willing to customize for you.**
With this doctor you either fit in his preset formula…. or you don’t. That’s it.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Mark Bush at RMA of Colorado - Conceptions Reproductive Associates?
Take a look at other reviews and see that there are stark differences in initial consultations. Some will say how positive he was and reassuring that he could help him. Others like mine are the complete opposite. If you don’t get a decent positive tone of wanting to help you in your consultation- run. Don’t take it as honesty and move forward like I did. Because what that tone is telling you - is that he doesn’t think you may fit into their set formula of protocols and ideal patient candidates. And if you don’t fit, he is not going to be flexible or customize anything for you- so you’re wasting your time. Stop and find another doctor at that point.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Mark Bush at RMA of Colorado - Conceptions Reproductive Associates?
Communication was overall bland, arrogant and lacked compassion. I wasn’t able to communicate with the doctor except by delivering a message through the nurse and at transfer.
Describe the protocols Mark Bush used in your cycles at RMA of Colorado - Conceptions Reproductive Associates and their degree of success.
I did two rounds and protocols were pretty much the same regardless of results. Rationale was never given for the protocols. We got 1 embryo from the first round and 0 embryos from the second round before I moved forward to donor eggs.
Describe your experience with your nurse at RMA of Colorado - Conceptions Reproductive Associates. (Assigned nurse: Kristine and Charly )
Communication from my main two nurses was often arrogant, and lacked compassion. They did respond quickly for the most part by email. For the office staff, people were friendly.
I don’t recommend seeing this office for out of town patients, appointments sometimes changed considerably making it difficult to plan and travel. They were sometimes even moved around the day of my travel or day of my appointment.
Describe your experience with RMA of Colorado - Conceptions Reproductive Associates.
Strengths - You will get in and out of apointments quickly, billing wasn’t a headache, polite front desk, blood draws and ultrasounds
Weaknesses- overall lack of compassion and testing you humanly. When my transfer failed, I heard nothing from the doctor and they just nonchalantly tried to schedule me to speak to the doctor 30 days out. They had zero consideration that no one should have to wait that long to hear from a doctor after a failed transfer. I had to really advocate for myself to them, if you’ll let them - they will treat you like just another number.
I also had the same first name as an office associate and got emailed details on other patients information more than once which showed a huge lack of carefulness with patient information and violates HIPAA laws.
Primary nurses are just as arrogant as the doctor and overall communicate with a condescending tone, they show zero compassion and will also not try to really treat you like you’re anything but another number. They make it clear they are just a messenger and could care less about you. Scheduling is sometimes subject to change without much warning making it hard for out of town patients, for example- my appointment was moved up with just a few hours warning to meet their scheduling needs even though they knew I was an out of town patient. Luckily I had just flew in and had to rush over. I was also once switched to another office without warning, and had to pay extra Uber fees to get over there as I was from out of town and only flying in and out for the day’s appointment.

He allowed me to transfer two pgs tested embryos in my donor egg round, which resulted in a chemical pregnancy.
What specific things went wrong at RMA of Colorado - Conceptions Reproductive Associates?
Dr Chiang is both kind and considerate. She is still in the process of helping us reach out baby goals...She’s been absolutely amazing & so supportive of all the hiccups in our case & the poor timing of covid. We’re close now to having our first transfer with a donor embryo...Trust her judgment & know she’s in it for you & your family...she felt a donor embryo would be the better option as we just wanted a baby, period. So now we’re in the process of the mock transfer & getting ready to start hormone therapy. We’ve already reserved our embryo & she’s just waiting for the day like us
I don’t have any weaknesses for them [Conceptions Reproductive Associates]. Communication is great, the flow of steps they’re taking is well calculated & smooth. It’s definitely a well oiled machine. They know what they’re doing. I would say to a new patient to ask any kind of questions you have to the staff because they’re so kind and will figure out an answer for you...Through the whole process every aspect/team member has been kind & so well informed.

Because of my age, I have poor egg reserves, so the option was always a donor egg regime with my husband’s sperm. Then covid hit and everything kind of fell apart. Once we were able to go back she felt a donor embryo would be the better option as we just wanted a baby, period. So now we’re in the process of the mock transfer & getting ready to start hormone therapy. We’ve already reserved our embryo & she’s just waiting for the day like us 😊

We personally had a great experience with Dr Bush. He is very confident in his abilities and we had success twice over with him. You don’t have much interaction with your doctors but the interactions we did have with him were pleasant and professional and he has a good sense of humor...Do not expect to see him every appointment. Dr Bush was very personable during consult/transfer but that was all we interacted. His team did the work to make me feel more like a human and not just a number.
Describe the protocols Mark Bush used in your cycles at RMA of Colorado - Conceptions Reproductive Associates and their degree of success.
Due to my age, he had me do testosterone gel prior to starting my round of IVF. He also had me use HGH in combination with all of the other hormones in the antagonist protocol and with both transfers (second transfer was to my wife). We were able to get 3 normal embryos and after two transfers 2 healthy babies.

How competent was RMA of Colorado - Conceptions Reproductive Associates at LGBTQ+ care?
They were welcoming and respectful. I mentioned the forms previously… the forms are so heteronormative. Even filling out the information for embryo testing didn’t have a place to mark that you were using donor material. So we put my wife in even though it wasn’t her genetic material.

They had us meet with a therapist to talk about using donor material and talking about that with our children. Otherwise they handled everything with Cryogam well.

My husband and I have had nothing short of an amazing experience with Dr. Bush and his team at Conceptions. We are 3 for 3 with our frozen embryo transfers and have 3 amazing children that we can't imagine living without. We are about to move forward on transferring our 4th and final embryo and trust that this cycle will be as successful as the first 3. Dr. Bush is intelligent, kind and is truly an expert in his field. We live in Tampa, Florida and chose Conceptions in Colorado because none of the doctors we interviewed compared to Dr. Bush. He is thorough, straight-forward and detail oriented. We have zero complaints. If you choose Conceptions, you will not be disappointed.

We only had singles transferred. Dr. Bush was confident that a single would be successful and it was. This was important to us because we did not want multiples.
I think Dr O has been doing this so long she's set in her ways and probably headed towards retirement. I wouldnt recommend her...stonewalled me when I tried to go around tests I felt were unnecessary. I thought genetic testing was optional but she made it seem like she wouldnt work with us if we didnt do it.
You may get pregnant [at Conceptions Reproductive Associates], but prepare yourself for being treated like a number and concerns falling on deaf ears. I left with medical trauma and distrust of this place. When I tried to bring my concerns to those in charge they were dismissive and excused all the errors because "at least you are pregnant now." I have other embryos which I will be transferring to another clinic because the thought of going back here is untenable.
How was your experience with Althea O'Shaughnessy at RMA of Colorado - Conceptions Reproductive Associates?
As stated earlier, Dr O stonewalled me when I tried to go around tests I felt were unnecessary. I thought genetic testing was optional but she made it seem like she wouldnt work with us if we didnt do it. When she required me to go for an additional consult with a maternal fetal medicine doctor she did not provide a referral just said to "find someone in my network." I wanted a referral because I did not totally understand the purpose of the consult and wanted someone they had worked with previously so they would be familiar with the request.

It felt pretty clear she did not remember who me or my partner were whenever we met with her. She was dismissive when I suggested we did not need to do genetic testing after I revealed to her I already knew I was a genetic carrier for cystic fibrosis but my partner was not so it would be redundant for us to pay $200 to do it again. It was often like talking to a brick wall

I was not given specifics or explained much of anything. It felt very robotic.
Describe your experience with your nurse at RMA of Colorado - Conceptions Reproductive Associates. (Assigned nurse: Vanessa, Sara Lee, Kate )
At conceptions you get a different nurse at each stage. I had a truly terrible experience with nearly all the nurses except for my final FET nurse. Veronica, my IVF nurse, did not answer my questions, sent me the wrong information (ie which pharmacy she sent my meds to) and was very obviously using form emails she sends to all her patients without bothering to update all the relevant data points to personalize it to me. Kate, a nurse I dealt with when I called the emergency line about severe pain in my leg, did not listen to my concerns, overspoke me when I tried to explain what was happening to me and told me I was just having a negative reaction to my progesterone injections and to switch meds. I listened to her advice until I could not take the pain any longer and went to the ER it turns out I had an abscess and I was hospitalized for 3 days. When I brought up my concerns to both her and her boss, Sarah Lee, they both blamed me for not providing enough detail on the phone (I wasnt even asked questions, Kate jumped to conclusions) and how hard it is to do telemedicine, which is a great deal of the care you receive at conception's and something they do daily.

my experience with her [Dr. Grob] has been very disappointing in terms of feeling supported and catered to as an individual. She does not seem to like to be questioned and does not offer much information, either upfront or when directly asked...For all retrieval cycles, we used a protocol involving Menopur and Gonal-F, with Ganirelix added in and a HCG trigger with Lupron shots. Omnitrope was used as an adjuvant to hopefully help egg quality, and estradiol was employed for priming. With a high number of eggs retrieved each time, this protocol succeeded on that front, which seemed like the main objective- quality, on the other hand, did not seem to have much evidence for ways in which it could be improved
the clinic [Conceptions Reproductive Associates] seems designed to deal with the volume of patients by having the doctor be as hands-off as possible, with the nurses responsible for 95% of patient contact...Calls to the clinic's dedicated nurse line are never answered; they go to voicemail and are responded to generally within the day, but it can be frustrating to have no way to access a person directly with urgent matters...The incorrect protocol and medications were sent by my nurse on multiple occasions. Routine bloodwork was lost and had to be redone...
How was your experience with Natalia Grob at RMA of Colorado - Conceptions Reproductive Associates?
Dr Grob seems like a smart, capable doctor who is keen on getting results and being on the forefront of this field. However, my experience with her has been very disappointing in terms of feeling supported and catered to as an individual. She does not seem to like to be questioned and does not offer much information, either upfront or when directly asked. If you are not fully prepared for a consult with everything you want to know, it is very difficult to get satisfactory answers or information afterwards via email, and you will be asked to set up another (paid) consult. As a person who struggles with anxiety and likes to know the ins and outs of what is happening to my body, I found her less-is-best approach to explaining her reasoning on protocols to be very frustrating and stressful.
In my experience, it also seems like Dr Grob might err on the side of throwing the kitchen sink at this process, medication-wise. With only my age as a clear factor, my first stim protocol started at the highest level of medications (according to general consensus of information including the FertilityIQ education pages) but to Dr Grob this was what she deemed standard, and despite a retrieval of MANY eggs, her second stim protocol employed yet an even higher dosage of medications. For the FET phase, a fully-medicated protocol- with every single medication you can possibly use for it- was the only one she offered, with no indication that there was any other way to do it. My concerns about the safety/necessity/efficacy of these protocols were repeatedly dismissed in a way that unfortunately eroded some of the vital trust, adding a lot more stress to this process.
There was little that she offered in our consults to make me feel as if I was getting treatment tailored to me as an individual, or using the information gleaned from all the tests and procedures to determine the best way to proceed. It feels very one-size-fits-all and with her direct, very scripted manner, it definitely does not lend itself to feeling like you are working as a team with your doctor. I have no doubt that she can generally get good results, but the way in which it is undertaken leaves me feeling like I'm a statistic she's hoping to add to her success column. If you do not need reassurance or support and are happy to place complete faith in your doctor without requiring much information, Dr Grob might be great for you. Likewise, if you are willing to do your own research, prepare thoroughly for consults, and fiercely advocate for yourself, you might also get good results working with her, albeit in a more DIY manner. If you fall somewhere in between, then you might find what is already a very emotional, stressful experience exacerbated by your own doctor.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Natalia Grob at RMA of Colorado - Conceptions Reproductive Associates?
Inform yourself on medications, protocols etc so you can fully discuss any concerns or thoughts you might have, as not much detail may be offered by Dr Grob. Be prepared to advocate for yourself if you are not feeling aligned on things- and instead of much reasoning, you may well get told the doctor version of "Because I said so".
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Natalia Grob at RMA of Colorado - Conceptions Reproductive Associates?
In the first meeting, Dr G came across as friendly and fairly warm, if a little brief and breezy. However, subsequent communication revealed a pattern of very scripted, short responses and unwillingness to directly answer questions or go into detail at all, and a real lack of proactively offering information, to the point of frustration. We have only had a handful of consults with her, mostly via video, and absolutely none of my procedures (ultrasounds/hysteroscopies/egg retrievals etc) have been handled by her personally. This lack of contact during my time as a patient has left me feeling very unsupported and disconnected from her as "my" doctor.
Describe the protocols Natalia Grob used in your cycles at RMA of Colorado - Conceptions Reproductive Associates and their degree of success.
For all retrieval cycles, we used a protocol involving Menopur and Gonal-F, with Ganirelix added in and a HCG trigger with Lupron shots. Omnitrope was used as an adjuvant to hopefully help egg quality, and estradiol was employed for priming. With a high number of eggs retrieved each time, this protocol succeeded on that front, which seemed like the main objective- quality, on the other hand, did not seem to have much evidence for ways in which it could be improved, so the only change suggested was to add CoQ10 supplements (which require at least three months to have any potential effect; it would've been good, given my age factor, to have been told that at the very beginning of the process).
Describe your experience with your nurse at RMA of Colorado - Conceptions Reproductive Associates.
The nurse I was assigned for my retrieval phase started out very personable and communicative over email. However I never received any of my updates/instructions/results over the phone from her, and despite her apparently being in the office during my visits, I saw her in person on only one occasion and only after being bounced to other staff for 20min. I was always asked "who is your nurse?" when I had any questions or issues, so it seemed the clinic's system is designed to have that person handle all your stuff, but I invariably ended up being handled by another nurse in every way except via email.
My nurse also very quickly became unreliable in keeping my protocols straight. I was prescribed the wrong medications and sent the wrong dosage instructions on multiple occasions, and communication seemed to have a disconnect between the doctor and the nurse. What should've been simple directions took many exhaustive emails to try to untangle and I had to be vigilant and double check any change against previous instructions- had I not done this, I would have had to cancel a cycle or carried out an incorrect one due to the nurse's errors.
The other nurses I dealt with over the phone and in person for my updates/instructions etc were all quite lovely and helpful. The few occasions I had to call on the after-hours nurse for help, the person on duty was very kind and patient and made me feel supported in a way that I craved to have on the day-to-day basis!
Describe your experience with RMA of Colorado - Conceptions Reproductive Associates.
Conceptions certainly seems to have strong success stats that make you feel like you're in good hands, so that's a reassuring start. The office experience itself is not particularly luxe and cutting-edge but more comfortably standard, and there's certainly a lot of people coming to them for help.
However, based on the experience with my doctor (other doctors there *may* be different), the clinic seems designed to deal with the volume of patients by having the doctor be as hands-off as possible, with the nurses responsible for 95% of patient contact. If your doctor having first-hand knowledge of you, your body and your case by performing ultrasounds or uterine procedures or trial transfers etc is important to you, you are likely not going to get that here. It lends a little of an ivory-tower feel, where the doctor is an untouchable figure who shows up only to dispense protocol at the start and retrieve the eggs/transfer the embryo at the end, so the nurse who is assigned to you plays a vital role in crafting your experience of this process.
As mentioned previously, you are assigned a nurse, which is great in theory. However, in practice, this still oftentimes results in getting information and care from whomever is available. Calls to the clinic's dedicated nurse line are never answered; they go to voicemail and are responded to generally within the day, but it can be frustrating to have no way to access a person directly with urgent matters.
The financial department will also assign someone to your case to whom you can direct billing questions and issues, but our contact left and it took a number of queries to have someone realize that and reassign us. Our contact has been friendly and helpful, but there seems to be a huge disconnect between departments and/or disarray that has led to every bill we have received being incorrect, and our insurance being billed when we are also charged for self-pay.
The upshot of these issues are that while you might get top-level medical insight in a fairly well-oiled machine, you have to be prepared to be in charge of your care to ensure you are getting the correct information and the financials are billed properly.
Describe the costs associated with your care under Natalia Grob at RMA of Colorado - Conceptions Reproductive Associates.
Our insurance included a fertility coverage with a lifetime max- this fortunately also covered medication as "pharmacy" , so these did not contribute to the lifetime max. After our max was reached- with the insurance out of pocket of $6700- we also did a cycle retrieval package rate that was around $10k. Genetic testing was additional and charged for additional embryos over a certain amount plus shipping fees, and cyro-storage for embryos is charged at around $65/month. Frozen transfer is charged as a separate entity.
Describe Natalia Grob's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at RMA of Colorado - Conceptions Reproductive Associates.
Dr Grob advocates for single embryo transfer; it was presented as a given due to my age and the higher risks.

Describe the specific things that went wrong at RMA of Colorado - Conceptions Reproductive Associates.
The incorrect protocol and medications were sent by my nurse on multiple occasions. Routine bloodwork was lost and had to be redone, but I was also questioned as to whether I had actually done it in the first place (no matter how many times you get blood drawn, you really don't forget when you've been stabbed in the arm!) Prescriptions that my nurse said had been sent to the pharmacy were in fact not on several occasions, and I'd have to follow up on it.
Dr. Chiang listened carefully to our infertility story. She wanted to understand the type of family we wanted to build, and what we were willing to undergo to get there. At every step, she gave patient advice and empathetic responses to our concerns...In the end, of those 16 mature eggs, 14 fertilized, but only 2 made it all the way to the embryo state via successful cell division. Of those 2, only 1 was genetically normal. So we went from worrying we had too much, to being devastated we only had once chance.

How was your experience with Jasmine Chiang at RMA of Colorado - Conceptions Reproductive Associates?
Dr. Chiang is excellent and I really can't say enough good things about her. She is kind and compassionate. She listens well and makes you feel so personally cared for. She is smart, confident and practices evidence based medicine. I really appreciated how she explained studies and statistics to us.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Jasmine Chiang at RMA of Colorado - Conceptions Reproductive Associates?
Know what questions you want to ask because she will answer all your questions and give you valuable feedback. Know what your family building goals are and what you are willing or not willing to do to get there, because she will often ask you what you want to do/are willing to do next.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Jasmine Chiang at RMA of Colorado - Conceptions Reproductive Associates?

Describe the protocols Jasmine Chiang used in your cycles at RMA of Colorado - Conceptions Reproductive Associates and their degree of success.
For IUI we used clomid, but I had a hyper-response to this resulting in a cancelled IUI cycle when I had too many follicles. We then switched to letrozole. Overall, we did 1 IUI with clomid, 1 cancelled IUI on clomid and 2 IUIs on letrozole. For IVF we did a down-regulation on lupron followed by estrogen pills/suppositories and progesterone IM shots.
Describe your experience with your nurse at RMA of Colorado - Conceptions Reproductive Associates. (Assigned nurse: Cate Kopels )
At conceptions I had a different nurse for every phase: one primary nurse for IUI (Camille Rastrelli), on primary nurse for IVF/egg retrieval (Lindsay Dole) and one primary nurse for FET (Cate Kopels). Camille had wonderful bedside manner and was extremely compassionate, but was disorganized. For example, my medication calendar did not match the directions on the pill bottle when I got them. Lindsay was organized, but not compassionate. I found her to be pushy and impatient. I went through my hardest stage of infertility while under the care of this nurse: finding out I had polyps and having my entire FET cycle cancelled/delayed for surgery. I felt like Lindsay got annoyed when I was calling back and forth between Conceptions and my local OB trying to figure out where I could get in sooner for the surgery, whereas Dr. Chiang literally encouraged me to do my surgery with my local OB if that was more convenient for me. I felt like Dr. Chiang cared more about me than getting the money from my surgery and Lindsay only cared that my indecision/checking into all my options was causing more work for her. Lindsay would often send one sentence emails back to my paragraph long emails, usually only answering one of my maybe 3 questions and completely ignoring the rest. Cate was extremely variable. When I had first trimester bleeding, I felt like she was so compassionate. When I started getting my labs drawn locally so that I would not have to drive the 2 total hours for a 5min blood draw (which was an option offered to me by another nurse at the clinic) she seemed defensive and annoyed saying things to me like, quote "I am not privy to every conversation that you have" when I said another nurse told me I could do this as well as sending me snappy one sentence emails about how much work it was for her to track down my labs results.
Describe your experience with RMA of Colorado - Conceptions Reproductive Associates.
Strength is that we got pregnant on our very first FET with this clinic. Another strength is that they were very responsive when we had to call the emergency RN line for a medication question. Con is that everything seems to take forever at this clinic and I think that's because a good end result is more important to them than time. You have been your own patient advocate here. There are many many appointment where you only see the phlebotomist and the US tech and leave. Maybe you get to talk to a nurse. Maybe not even your nurse or one who knows your case. My doctor was excellent so I felt well prepared here. The two times I didn't feel fully prepared was 1) when we had forms given to us with extremely serious questions like "what do you want to do with frozen embryos if your spouse dies? Can they use them with a new partner?" thrown at us with a demand for a 24hr turn around to getting the form back and 2) going into our egg retrieval. We didn't know that they would be collecting both mature and immature eggs under the chance that some might appear more mature under the microscope. We were told by the other doctor who did our retrieval as I was waking up from anesthesia that we got 24 eggs with no other contextual information. We were shocked and almost upset like "what are we going to do with 13 embryos?!" We felt like morally we wouldn't have wanted to create that many had our values and wishes been further discussed. It wasn't until our first embryology update phone call that we learned we actually only got 16 mature eggs. In the end, of those 16 mature eggs, 14 fertilized, but only 2 made it all the way to the embryo state via successful cell division. Of those 2, only 1 was genetically normal. So we went from worrying we had too much, to being devastated we only had once chance. We didn't feel like we were prepared for such a poor outcome. Now that I follow lots of fertility social media accounts, I can see that having to do more than one egg retrieval is very common in IVF. We didn't really know that going in. We ultimately chose not to cycle again and did get pregnant with our one embryo. I wonder if I had been better prepared that most women have to cycle more than once, if I would've been more willing to do it? At the time, I felt so blindsided by our poor outcome I didn't feel like I could go thru it again.

Dr Greene is compassionate and has walked in my shoes with his own experiences and knew what to say and what not to say to make me feel comfortable and confident in him. When our recent transfer failed he expressed and emphasized how it was not my fault which gave me peace.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Robert Greene at RMA of Colorado - Conceptions Reproductive Associates?
During consults or follow ups have an agenda to follow so you make sure you cover all concerns abs questions. I am fairly comfortable with our Dr. But I always seem to freeze up during consultations and lose my voice. An agenda helped keep me on track without becoming too emotional.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Robert Greene at RMA of Colorado - Conceptions Reproductive Associates?
Dr. Greene would not proceed with our care until I felt 100% confident in him and trusted his care and his practice. This was not the case at our previous clinics.
Describe the protocols Robert Greene used in your cycles at RMA of Colorado - Conceptions Reproductive Associates and their degree of success.
• ERA, SHG, HSG , TET tests prior to transfer
Protocol:
• Birth control pills the cycle prior to FET - down regulation
▪︎ Lupron injections for 4 weeks – this and birth control work as my down regulation cycle. This combo will shut down (suppress) my ovaries and allows my clinic to control my cycle.
▪︎ Omnitrope injections for 10 days - we added this to my protocol with Sunny due to implantation failure in previous cycles. This drug can help your uterine receptivity become more favorable for an embryo. Essentially this is the welcome party drug for our embryo.
▪︎ Progesterone in oil injections begin 6 days prior to FET and continue through 12 weeks of pregnancy – helps prepare the lining of the uterus and helps maintain a healthy level during pregnancy
▪︎ Estrace pills vaginally twice a day – helps build the endometrium lining nice and thick
▪︎ Vivelle (a.k.a estrogen patches) 1 patch, increased to 4 patches then decreased to 2 - helps build lining
▪︎ Baby aspirin – improves blood flow to implantation site
▪︎ Intralipid Infusion 1 week prior to fet and aging at 7 weeks pregnant
Next fet cycle we will repeat an shg and do a microbiome test

Describe Robert Greene's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at RMA of Colorado - Conceptions Reproductive Associates.
He strongly advises against multiple embryo transfer because of his success and even after our very recent failed cycle with him he advised against increasing embryos
Dr. Grindler was very straightforward at our initial visit and went over our desired family size and the results I already had from diagnostic testing done by my ob/gyn...I had some problems with my trial embryo transfer and despite my bringing up my concerns, Dr. Grindler mostly brushed them off and was confident that I would not have any problems. Unfortunately my first embryo transfer had to be cancelled at the last minute (literally while I was on the procedure table) due to the same problem. After that Dr. Grindler took steps to address the issue and made sure it would not be a problem the next time around and the next embryo transfer went very smoothly and was successful.
I think the communication from Conceptions isn't always great. Especially during the diagnostic phase before beginning IVF, there were times when I wasn't sure what we were waiting on and no one would reach out to contact me. There have also been multiple instances of my nurse telling me that I need to have bloodwork when I come in for something else, but then there were no orders for bloodwork when I arrived. I think Dr. Grindler and all the nurses, phlebotomists, and other staff I encountered were great but you do need to advocate for yourself if you have questions or concerns.
How was your experience with Natalia Grob at RMA of Colorado - Conceptions Reproductive Associates?
Dr. Grindler was very straightforward at our initial visit and went over our desired family size and the results I already had from diagnostic testing done by my ob/gyn. I had some questions before starting IVF and we were able to schedule a virtual visit with her to go over everything. I had some problems with my trial embryo transfer and despite my bringing up my concerns, Dr. Grindler mostly brushed them off and was confident that I would not have any problems. Unfortunately my first embryo transfer had to be cancelled at the last minute (literally while I was on the procedure table) due to the same problem. What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Natalia Grob at RMA of Colorado - Conceptions Reproductive Associates?
Communicate any questions or concerns you are having and if you are concerned about something make sure it is addressed. Also grab one of her cards at some point - at the end of my appointments with her she would always tell me to email her if I had any questions, but I didn't have her email address until I grabbed one of her business cards off the front desk at one of my last appointments! (Also I could have just asked her for her email address!)
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Natalia Grob at RMA of Colorado - Conceptions Reproductive Associates?
When I first started with the egg retrieval it felt a lot like a one-size fits all plan and the communication about what all the different medications were and what they were for was not great. But Dr. Grindler and my IVF nurse (Lindsay) took the time to answer my questions. It felt similar as I started going into my embryo transfer cycle, but I think at that point I had gotten better at asking for more information when I needed it.
Describe the protocols Natalia Grob used in your cycles at RMA of Colorado - Conceptions Reproductive Associates and their degree of success.
I think I got a version of the standard starting stimulation protocol used at Conceptions for my egg retrieval. I used injectable menopur in the mornings and gonal-f in the evenings and added in ganirelix when my follicles were getting large. I used a lupron only trigger for my egg retrieval because they were worried about OHSS. The egg retrieval was successful and we had 4 euploid embryos at the end.
I did 2 (mostly) unmedicated/natural FET cycles (the first one was cancelled at the last minute). I went in for a lot of monitoring to check my lining and follicles and when I was ready to ovulate on my own I triggered with pregnyl and used progesterone suppositories. So far the second FET cycle has been successful. I will stop taking the progesterone suppositories soon, when I am 10 weeks pregnant. We graduated from Conceptions after our 9 week ultrasound showed that everything looked normal with the pregnancy so far.
Describe your experience with your nurse at RMA of Colorado - Conceptions Reproductive Associates. (Assigned nurse: Lindsay (IVF), Jessica (FET))
My IVF nurse, Lindsay, was great! I was nervous and had a lot of questions at the start and she took the time to answer them. I had trouble receiving phone calls at work and she always emailed me my medication instructions since that worked so much better for me.
My FET nurse, Jessica, was also great! I had a work conflict at the start of my first FET cycle and she made sure to schedule things so that I wouldn't have to cancel anything. We did have some miscommunication about a trigger shot, and some problems with prescriptions not getting to the pharmacy ahead of time, but everything was fine in the end (and by this point I had learned to double-check everything anyway).
Describe your experience with RMA of Colorado - Conceptions Reproductive Associates.
I think the communication from Conceptions isn't always great. I think Dr. Grindler and all the nurses, phlebotomists, and other staff I encountered were great but you do need to advocate for yourself if you have questions or concerns.
My financial counselor, Hannah, was also great! She was always super helpful anytime I had billing questions. If you ever have a question about the cost of something or if the front desk staff said you would have a co-pay but you think they're wrong, reach out to someone from billing and they should be able to help!
Describe the costs associated with your care under Natalia Grob at RMA of Colorado - Conceptions Reproductive Associates.
Our IVF self-pay package was $17,875 (included egg retrieval, ICSI, PGS testing of up to 5 embryos, pre-FET diagnostic testing, and 1 FET cycle). We also paid an additional $1400 for testing additional embryos.
Anesthesia for the egg retrieval was $400; IVF medications were about $3600; and FET medications (for 2 unmedicated/'natural' cycles) were about $1200.
The embryo storage fee at Conceptions is currently $62.50 per month.
Describe Natalia Grob's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at RMA of Colorado - Conceptions Reproductive Associates.
We preferred to transfer only one embryo. I think we were told that if we really wanted to we could convince Dr. Grindler to transfer 2 embryos.

Describe the specific things that went wrong at RMA of Colorado - Conceptions Reproductive Associates.
I had a miscommunication with my trigger shot dosage for an FET cycle (I was told 2 different dosages) that was compounded by my trigger happening on Christmas eve and there not being any instructions in my file for the on-call nurse to use to help me. It worked out in the end, but was very stressful in the moment.
For another FET cycle, my nurse had not called in my methylprednisolone and valium prescriptions to my local pharmacy before I was ready to trigger (and she happened to be off on the day I was ready). But those were filled very quickly so it worked out ok.
I needed another medication for a trial embryo transfer and mismatched dosages/instructions were sent in to my local pharmacy. I finally figured it out when it was taking several days to fill instead of several hours. I think Walgreen's may have been trying to contact Conceptions about the mismatch but wasn't getting through. When I pointed it out to my nurse she got it fixed and everything was ready before I needed it.
Dr. Greene took the time to explain everything, multiple times, if needed in order to give us the level of understanding we wished for...We were given the option for a multiple embryo transfer...Every thought process of ours was critical to him, even just talking out what-if scenarios that were very unlikely but needed discussed for peace of mind. In follow-up appointments, he remembered personal things about us that made us feel important, and memorable, and human
the initial IVF protocol that includes PGT-A screening, ICSI, and frozen embryo transfer (FET): is $17,875 Anesthesia: ~$400 Medications over our entire cycles probably ~$3000-5000...[the Conceptions Reproductive staff] goes above and beyond to ask questions to make you feel comfortable and that your experience is a great one...My anesthesiologist was so friendly and jovial. I've never been put under before so he explained everything so clearly and concisely about what would happen, it would feel like, what he was doing/would do
How was your experience with Robert Greene at RMA of Colorado - Conceptions Reproductive Associates?
Due to the Covid pandemic, 90% of all our appointments were via telehealth appointments, but he made sure they were warm and inviting and friendly. Even with a technological setback where we couldn't get volume to work, he called in on our landline to speak with us while presenting the slides on the computer.
The only time we got to see him in person was during our embryo transfer which was amazing, and made us wish we could've been in the same room with him throughout the entire process. He was genuinely excited for us, took time to explain, to encourage, to include. Everything was well communicated, he made it a point to tell us what we were looking at on the screen, made sure to pause the process (where possible) so my husband could get pictures of our little embryo being shown to us, get videos of the nurse bringing the loaded catheter in, everything that would help us remember and honor our journey.
Since you have to have a full bladder for the procedure, I was naturally a little uncomfortable and he cracked a joke that made us all laugh. I warned him that he was in a danger zone for making me laugh and if he kept it up, I might accidentally pee on him. He laughed even more and said that "I fully believe laughter is good for the soul. If laughing gets you this baby and gets me soaked, I'm fully willing to take that one for you!"
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Robert Greene at RMA of Colorado - Conceptions Reproductive Associates?
Ask him anything. I have a crazy good immune system and hardly ever get sick and, although I "knew" the answer, I needed his professional reassurance that it wasn't my own body working against me for the failed natural conception or IUIs. He took so much time and explained how my immune system was such a good thing in this case and went into the process of immune issues that would cause problems just so that I would have peace of mind.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Robert Greene at RMA of Colorado - Conceptions Reproductive Associates?
Dr. Greene took the time to explain everything, multiple times, if needed in order to give us the level of understanding we wished for. He willingly (and unasked for) tied in artificial insemination of cattle (of which my husband is well versed) into our process to draw parallels we could understand.
Our previous doctor would skip over things, seemingly write us off as ignorant and not even knowing the basics of conception, and our questions unimportant, but not with Dr. Greene. Every thought process of ours was critical to him, even just talking out what-if scenarios that were very unlikely but needed discussed for peace of mind.
In follow-up appointments, he remembered personal things about us that made us feel important, and memorable, and human and that we were not only patients, but friends he cared about helping.
Describe the protocols Robert Greene used in your cycles at RMA of Colorado - Conceptions Reproductive Associates and their degree of success.
Egg retrieval:
Menopur 75 units subcutaneously daily as directed (for 15 days, I think)
Gonal-f RFF Inject 75- 450iu subcutaneously daily as directed (don't remember the length of time)
Ganirelix Acetate 250 mcg, Inject subcutaneously daily as directed
Leuprolide - Inject 4mg (0.8ml) subcutaneously at the appropriate time as directed for trigger and repeat the same dose 12 hours later
Chorionic Gonadotropin (HCG), 1000- 10000iu IM as directed for trigger
For the FET cycle:
Birth control pills for 24 days. Active pills only, no placebo.
Lupron for 27 days, 10 units.
On Day 1 of the cycle: baby Aspirin (81 mg), Metformin, Vitamin D, and prenatal vitamin throughout the first 3 trimesters, stopping at the advice of my OBGYN.
Pregnyl 10000 units, Inject 5000 units IM for trigger before transfer
Estrace 2 mg tablet, altered between dosages and whether orally or vaginally until desired hormone level was reached
Vivelle-Dot 0.1 mg patches, Applied anywhere from 2-4 patches for the first trimester per doctor's orders
Progesterone in Sesame Oil 50 mg, Inject 1.5 ml intramuscular for first trimester, slowly weaning off per doctor's orders
I'm sure I'm missing something, but that's as close as I can recall at the moment!
Describe your experience with your nurse at RMA of Colorado - Conceptions Reproductive Associates. (Assigned nurse: Lindsay Dole was our egg retrieval nurse, Jessica Rico was our FET nurse)
Lindsay was amazingly caring and thoughtful. I'm a really petite person and when I first walked into the office, she took one look at me said she would write an Rx for 1" needles versus the 1.5" that are usually recommended due to my small stature. It made such an amazing difference during the PIO shots!
Jessica was so kind and caring during our FET cycle. When we were confirmed pregnant and came for our 7 week appointment, she saw our names on the check in list she found out which room we were in and stopped by to congratulate us in person.
The phlebotomists were so friendly and professional. Linda was an absolute gem and I loved chatting with her during my blood draws.
Tammi and Shari would my usual ultrasound techs. Despite the fact they're all up in your business, they made sure to remain professional while not being cold or uncaring. They were warm and friendly and chatted with you in order to keep you informed of what you/they were seeing, etc. Due to Covid, my husband couldn't be in the room but they made sure to allow me to Facetime him and allow him to see/hear what was going on and answered any questions he had during the process.
For a few questions I had concerning our embryos and their disposal or storage, embryologist, Hannah, made sure to call me personally to answer my questions and tell me in real time versus an email, their process in order to calm any fears I had.
My anesthesiologist, Mr. Higgins was so friendly and jovial. I've never been put under before so he explained everything so clearly and concisely about what would happen, it would feel like, what he was doing/would do, and answered any and all questions my husband and I had. He was professional and yet still made time to get to know me -- turns out he worked in my hometown with my doctor grandfather long before I was born, as well as the doctor who delivered me!
Describe your experience with RMA of Colorado - Conceptions Reproductive Associates.
Highly professional yet friendly. You feel as though you get to know the staff, and they you, and you're not just a random face in a crowd but someone they are excited to see succeed. Everyone goes above and beyond to ask questions to make you feel comfortable and that your experience is a great one.
We, honestly, breezed in and out of our cycles with no issues and were a seemingly "easy" case, so we didn't ever run into anything challenging during our time there.
Describe the costs associated with your care under Robert Greene at RMA of Colorado - Conceptions Reproductive Associates.
I've never kept detailed track of what cost what, but I know the initial IVF protocol that includes PGT-A screening, ICSI, and frozen embryo transfer (FET): is $17,875
Anesthesia: ~$400
Medications over our entire cycles probably ~$3000-5000
Acupuncture for transfer day - $100
Embryo storage fee: $62.50 a month
When speaking with the clinic's pharmacy, they recommended a program that could potentially help with payments based on income levels and went above and beyond to do everything they could to help keep costs as low as possible.
Describe Robert Greene's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at RMA of Colorado - Conceptions Reproductive Associates.
We were given the option for a multiple embryo transfer, but we would have to "plead our case" and do a good job with logical reasonings behind why we though it would be a good option, etc. before Dr. Greene would approve it for us. We didn't wish to do more than one embryo since we didn't know how my body would respond to a pregnancy, so kind of N/A for us
He [Dr. Bush] is direct, confident and generally not "warm and fuzzy". BUT he is brilliant and you are hiring someone to make you a parent, not become your best friend...He knew us by name, knew our story and our journey, and provided optimism and hope that kept us on the path to parenthood...PCOS diagnosis- Agonist protocol...Third transfer- addition of blood thinner, additional growth hormone, and hydroxychloroquine. Transferred two tested embryos, both stuck...
Tanya [nurse at Conceptions Reproductive Associates] was amazing and stuck with us through a long and challenging journey with lots of setbacks. Her case load was likely too large to provide the kind of constant 1:1 care that she clearly is able to do (and likes to do) and was therefore sometimes difficult to reach...But she was organized, honest, optimistic, thorough and kind...
How was your experience with Mark Bush at RMA of Colorado - Conceptions Reproductive Associates?
Dr. Bush, from the outset, gave us hope and optimism that parenthood could be achieved. While it took a while, he ultimately made that dream come true and we are forever indebted to him for it. We met with him a handful of times through the journey -- but were lucky enough to have his expertise for the egg retrieval and all three transfers. When faced with setbacks or disappointment, Dr. Bush welcomed us for WTF conversations and adjusted the plan to produce better results. We absolutely would recommend him to anyone wanting to achieve the ultimate goal of parenthood. Dr. Bush made it happen.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Mark Bush at RMA of Colorado - Conceptions Reproductive Associates?
Don't be taken aback by Dr. Bush's demeanor in the meetings in his office. He is direct, confident and generally not "warm and fuzzy". BUT he is brilliant and you are hiring someone to make you a parent, not become your best friend. Once I reminded myself of that, my expectations of our interactions were adjusted and I came to appreciate his approach, confidence and care.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Mark Bush at RMA of Colorado - Conceptions Reproductive Associates?
Dr. Bush did a good job of ensuring that we felt listened to and valued as individuals despite the fact that he runs a busy fertility practice with thousands of patients. He knew us by name, knew our story and our journey, and provided optimism and hope that kept us on the path to parenthood.
Describe the protocols Mark Bush used in your cycles at RMA of Colorado - Conceptions Reproductive Associates and their degree of success.
PCOS diagnosis- Agonist protocol for IVF following three failed rounds of IUI.
Egg retrieval resulted in 18 eggs, 12 fertilized, 8 made it to day 6-7. Of those 8, 6 tested genetically normal and were frozen.
First transfer- resulted in positive pregnancy test and graduation from clinic. However, miscarriage at 12 weeks occurred.
Second transfer- adjusted protocol to include intralipid infusion. Resulted in a negative pregnancy test.
ERA cycle- resulted in normal results but helpful for diagnostic puroposes and for me getting focused and centered as the patient.
Third transfer- addition of blood thinner, additional growth hormone, and hydroxychloroquine. Transferred two tested embryos, both stuck. Positive pregnancy test resulting in the healthy birth of boy/girl twins.
Describe your experience with your nurse at RMA of Colorado - Conceptions Reproductive Associates. (Assigned nurse: Tanya)
Tanya was amazing and stuck with us through a long and challenging journey with lots of setbacks. Her case load was likely too large to provide the kind of constant 1:1 care that she clearly is able to do (and likes to do) and was therefore sometimes difficult to reach. She simply had too many patients to manage. But she was organized, honest, optimistic, thorough and kind. When we lost our first pregnancy at 12 weeks (after graduating from the clinic) we were able to reach Tanya by phone on the drive home and she talked us back from the cliff. She was initmately involved in the D&C process, management of the miscarriage and procedure for next steps. And when we had success, she was there to cheer us on and celebrate with us. Ultimately, she did an amazing job and was very patient with me, and we're grateful for her.
Describe your experience with RMA of Colorado - Conceptions Reproductive Associates.
If you're a patient of Dr. Bush's, it seems you are likely to have high-quality, personalized and optimistic treatment that results in success. Dr. Bush is clearly respected highly within the practice, and it seemed that staff did an exceptionally good and careful job with his patient (me). The nursing team is over committed to too many patients, and could use some reprieve. It can be difficult to reach them by phone or email due to volume. But everyone we interacted with was ultimately great. The billing department can be a real challenge, but we did most of our interactions with Taunya at the front desk of the Lone Tree office and she was amazing.
We loved all the staff-- phlebotomist, sonographer, PAs, midlevels, etc who cared deeply for our successful conclusion.
Describe the costs associated with your care under Mark Bush at RMA of Colorado - Conceptions Reproductive Associates.
We spent about $50k to achieve our highest goal of becoming parents. We ended up with twins, and even if it had been only one baby, we know it was worth every penny.
Describe Mark Bush's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at RMA of Colorado - Conceptions Reproductive Associates.
Dr. Bush was clear that multiple embryo transfers were off the table until all other options had been exhausted. First two transfers were eSET. Third transfer utilized two embryos to increase the chance of success, and resulted in fraternal twins. Dr. Bush was clear with us about the potential risks of a multiple embryo transfer and we ultimately let him decide on transfer day if one or two would be used. We are thrilled with the result.

Overall it was a great experience at a wonderful clinic. Being happy success stories makes the challenges seem miniscule.

So far, I’ve done quite a bit of testing. Bloodwork, sonograms and uterine testing. I’m now on a birth control pill. I will soon take progesterone and lupron prior to my transfer.

Describe the costs associated with your care under Althea O'Shaughnessy at RMA of Colorado - Conceptions Reproductive Associates.
With the donor cycle, it’s been around 25k. We were told at a previous clinic that it would be closer to 60k, which would have been out of reach for us.
Describe Althea O'Shaughnessy's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at RMA of Colorado - Conceptions Reproductive Associates.
With my age in consideration, we are only doing a single transfer, which is what the clinic suggests.
Dr. Grindler did bloodwork and ultrasound to determine my baseline strategy. She took my age and health factors into consideration...is very good at managing expectations to just focus on the step at hand. Because so much of this process is beyond control and results driven, she doesn't like to get ahead in the process of planning next steps...felt "firm but fair". She was very thorough, but lacked warmth. Fortunately, I prefer a blunt, more candid doctor. She is very smart and forthcoming and I feel like she knows what is best for me and will do what is best for me. At no point did I ever feel like just a number with Dr. Grindler. I understand that in her line of work, she is required to be detached and not give false hope to those who are so invested.
the clinic [Conceptions Reproductive Associates] does practice multiple embryo transfer and that the decision to do that is up to the patient... Every single encounter I have had at the clinic has been a compassionate, positive, forthcoming, and easy experience. Everyone at Conceptions, from the receptionists to the phlebotomists, to the embryology team, to my doctor, to the whole nursing staff, is wonderful. I have felt fully supported throughout this whole experience. I did not feel like a number or cattle being herded. I felt like a human being that they truly cared about. No question was too dumb or too silly.
How was your experience with Natalia Grob at RMA of Colorado - Conceptions Reproductive Associates?
Dr. Grindler comes off as very smart, educated and competent. I think those are her strengths. She is also quite thorough and provides info in a calm and objective manner. What she lacks in warmth, she makes up for in comprehensiveness. I never left her office without fully understanding a diagnosis, procedure, or with any open questions.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Natalia Grob at RMA of Colorado - Conceptions Reproductive Associates?
A little warmth goes a long way. This process is so emotional for a newcomer to infertility. Initially, maybe acknowledge that fear, trepidation and nervousness about the process before delving into the specifics of the consultation.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Natalia Grob at RMA of Colorado - Conceptions Reproductive Associates?
I know that this clinic sees A LOT of patients. Dr. Grindler felt "firm but fair".
Describe the protocols Natalia Grob used in your cycles at RMA of Colorado - Conceptions Reproductive Associates and their degree of success.
Dr. Grindler did bloodwork and ultrasound to determine my baseline strategy. She took my age and health factors into consideration. I have Hashimoto's so she was looking for specific thyroid factors in the bloodwork. After that came back, she then suggested we do an HSG to determine if my anatomy was a factor in my infertility. The HSG showed a blocked tube, so essentially she gave me the option of IUI or IVF. My chances of conceiving naturally she determined were about 1-2% a month, given my age and hydrosalpinx. She gave the IUI a 10% chance of success and IVF a 70-75% chance of success. She agreed that IVF would be the best bang for our buck, so we started right away. She had me do more blood work and determined that I would prime with estrogen. on Cycle Day 2, we started with injections: 4 vials Menopur & 0.7 cc of Omnitrope AM and 300 IU Gonal-F PM. We slowly increased the Gonal-F throughout the cycle from 300 to 375 and then finally to 450. On cycle day 8, I started with Cetrotide and continued with the protocol until we triggered on Day 12. Overall I came away with 12 follicles. We retrieved 9 eggs, 5 were mature and 5 fertilized. Of those 5 embryos, 4 made it to blastocyst on day 5 and day 6, respectively. We biopsied all 4 and sent them to Natera for PGS testing. 3 came back abnormal with trisomy 16, 21 and deletion of chromosome 7. One came back PGS "normal" with an 85% confidence on chromosome 13. That embryo is currently frozen. Because of the confidence, Dr. Grindler agreed with my decision to do a second retrieval cycle to try to get more healthier embryos to potentially transfer. She is changing my second retrieval to prime with Estrogen, Cetrotide and Omnitrope and will start my Gonal-F at 450 IU from the start. She will also have my take the Omnitrope for longer. Unfortunately, my insurance company denied my second cycle and wants me to transfer my 85% confidence embryo first before they approve a second cycle. That is currently where I am with my protocol.
Describe your experience with your nurse at RMA of Colorado - Conceptions Reproductive Associates. (Assigned nurse: Erika Peksens)
I loved Erika. She was incredibly compassionate, funny, real, and made me feel like a human during this process. She wasn't afraid to show her emotions or support during this process. Without her, I would have felt so lost! Every single nurse that I spoke with was transparent, thorough, and communicated very well about every step. I feel that the nursing staff is one of the biggest strengths of this clinic.
Describe your experience with RMA of Colorado - Conceptions Reproductive Associates.
Fortunately for me, the closest fertility clinic recognized by my insurance as a "center of excellence" and therefore approved, was Conceptions in Littleton, CO. They are one of the top fertility clinics in the country and I can see why.
They always called me when they said they would and made sure I felt good about the process every step of the way.
I highly recommend Conceptions. Their strengths are with their incredibly caring nursing staff, and with their knowledgeable doctors on staff. I truly feel the doctors at Conceptions are at the forefront of fertility research. They included cutting edge meds in my protocol that many other clinics do not. For these reasons, I feel that they score so high in all fertility clinic surveys and with results.
Describe the costs associated with your care under Natalia Grob at RMA of Colorado - Conceptions Reproductive Associates.
I believe my insurance has covered about $38k to date. I have a $55k lifetime fertility benefit. Out of pocket I have paid just under $10k for medications not covered and the PGS genetic testing that is not covered.
Describe Natalia Grob's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at RMA of Colorado - Conceptions Reproductive Associates.
Dr. Grindler said that the clinic does practice multiple embryo transfer and that the decision to do that is up to the patient. Dr. Grindler is very good at managing expectations to just focus on the step at hand. Because so much of this process is beyond control and results driven, she doesn't like to get ahead in the process of planning next steps. She redirected conversations about transfer back to the retrieval process. She knows that patients can get ahead of themselves and therefore their expectations can be shattered. She is very good about having patients temper their expectations and focus on the present task. As such, we never had an in depth conversation about multiple embryo transfer other than what I stated above.
What specific things went wrong at RMA of Colorado - Conceptions Reproductive Associates?
Canceled a cycle due to clinic error
Describe the specific things that went wrong at RMA of Colorado - Conceptions Reproductive Associates.
I don't think this was the clinic's fault, but less than a week before I was scheduled to start my second retrieval cycle, they called me and told me that my insurance denied the second cycle because technically I have a "transferable" embryo frozen from my first cycle. Because the confidence was only 85% on that embryo, we all agreed I should do a second cycle to try for a healthier 100% confidence PGS normal embryo for transfer. Unfortunately, I had already purchased about $2500 worth of medication that cannot not be used for a second retrieval and now I must have a salpingectomy and hysteroscopy ahead of schedule so that I can schedule the FET before the end of the year. It's disappointing, but I truly don't feel this is the clinic's fault.
Dr. O'Shaughnessy is very blunt and also very smart. That side of her is much appreciated. What's not appreciated is her lack of bedside manner and what seems to be lack of understanding. I went into the appointment very excited and with a list of questions. Her immediate personality turned me away from wanting to ask any of those questions...she made me feel as though my question was dumb... didn't feel like I got everything I needed out of the consultation when I was looking for a fresh start.
The clinic [Conceptions Reproductive Associates] is great! The receptionists are super helpful and have wonderful energy which you need when you're going through infertility. The clinic itself is clean and everything is in one place (Littleton office)...I have reached out to my nurse on several occasions and have not heard back either at all or after days. In addition, I feel like I have had conflicting answers which could cost us time and time is everything with this process...

I have only gone in for my first consultation and I am currently finishing up diagnostic testing. She has wanted to test my blood levels of many different tests as well as run an HSG test on me. My previously sonohysterogram showed a focal adhesion or polyp, she reviewed the test itself (ultrasound video), and immediately said "that has to be removed". I went in for the HSG and the HSG test showed that everything was normal—no adhesions or polyps.

Dr. Bush was great in the initial consultation, he made me hand my husband feel optimistic about our potential to get pregnant. We were nervously excited about the process and were disappointed that after that meeting we would not see or speak with Dr. Bush again until the egg retrieval. It is also requires an act of congress to even speak with Dr. Bush even if requested. Although I know he's a great doctor, his success rates can speak for themselves, it was a bit of a disappointment to not be working with him as much as we had thought.
It was challenging to communicate with my nurse [at Conceptions Reproductive Associates] because I did not have a direct phone number for her. They method of communication was to call the main line and leave a message to have her call me back within 24-48hrs or send an email. Typically the response was well within the 24 hour window but it was a very frustrating method of communication. Additionally, she did not work on Thursday's so if something came up Wednesday evening or Thursday I would have to wait until Friday sometime to get in contact with her.

The clinic is very segregated meaning that your nurse will not be able to help you with any of the finance questions and simply refers you to the finance line which again requires you to leave a message and wait for them to call back. Beyond that I felt like I had to tease out of them how much I would need to pay and if I was eligible for the refund program.

Describe Mark Bush's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at RMA of Colorado - Conceptions Reproductive Associates.
Dr. Bush strongly suggests eSET due to the riskiness of multiple birth pregnancies.
My consultation with Dr Bush was by phone (am out of state). He had clearly taken the time to read over all my records and he had a plan in place for me specifically. I had done consults elsewhere where I felt like I didn’t matter...I only met Dr Bush in person at the time of egg retrieval. But it was very clear that he was personally directing the day to day management of my cycle. He is meticulous. I never felt like I was being pushed off to a nurse or secretary.
Initial consult [at Conceptions Reproductive Associates] was 175$. IVF cycle with PGS was about 16K. Nurse coordination fee around 1000...Transfer of donor sperm vial from old clinic to new clinic 750$...This is my 2nd clinic. Was very easy to set up the consult and then make the plans to start cycle remotely. They communicated with my old clinic. They sent reqs for blood work as needed. They were responsive. They helped me with alternatives for meds. The out of state planning/travel etc was so much easier than I thought it would be.

Dr. Bush has vast experience in fertility. He talks fast and often explains things at a high level. If you have any questions at all about what he's explaining or why he wants you to do a certain test or take a certain medication be sure to ask him to elaborate further and in simpler terms if necessary. He is a Dr. that uses a more scientific approach rather than a holistic one.

When we first met with Dr. Bush we had already had several other procedures with other doctors. He had studied my history, empathized with my current situation, and outlined how we could be successful going forward. I felt like he genuinely cared about our case and was very confident in his capabilities.
Describe the protocols Mark Bush used in your cycles at RMA of Colorado - Conceptions Reproductive Associates and their degree of success.
Before scheduling my embryo transfer Dr. Bush performed a hysteroscopy and saw that there was a build of scar tissue in my uterus. He performed surgery to remove that scar tissue and then used estrogen to thicken my uterine lining for a couple of months prior to transfer. He also used Viagra to raise the volume of blood flow to the uterus. It was very important to him that my uterus lining was thick enough to allow for successful implantation

I had a primary nurse but we worked with two or three others as well. Most communication was done via email and the emails were typically detailed and well organized. Sometimes they would send things that I had already done or instructions on things I had done in the past which made me think they didn't know my case as well as I would have liked.

IVF is expensive but they do take most insurances. If you don't have insurance coverage one IVF cycle will be 25-35K depending on your specific protocol.
Describe Mark Bush's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at RMA of Colorado - Conceptions Reproductive Associates.
Dr. Bush will only allow up to two embryos to be transferred at one time. Typically, only one is recommended but in some cases they will support implantation of two depending on the case. In my situation we transferred two embryos and had one healthy implantation.
