This is the most recent data from the CDC. The CDC cautions that it should not be used to compare doctors and clinics. This data represents the outcomes of IVF cycles when using a person's own eggs.
For more information please see our FAQs.
Where you see a “?” on the chart, a clinic has done fewer than 20 cycles in this category and age range, so the CDC says showing percentages from this small data set would be misleading and unreliable.
Dr. Davies is very hands off...You can only communicate with the nurse not the doctor through email. Unfortunately the nurse could not answer most of my questions. I heard "that is a good question to ask from Dr. Davies" many times with no clear answer...To align the patient with their schedule, they put you on contraceptive pills...They only perform egg retrieval once every two months and you need to wait as long as two months for it which is a waste of time specially for older women in which time is gold...be prepared to wait around 3 weeks if you want to make an appointment from Dr. Davies if you are an established patient...
Their [Davies Fertility & IVF Specialists] egg retrieval is not personalized. They do egg retrieval at a specific time. How was your experience with Susan Davies at Davies Fertility & IVF Specialists?
She is like a robot. You feel she is reading from a paper. She does her best to end the conversation very soon by giving very short answers to the question.
I do not recommend Dr. Davies and Davies fertility center for several reasons (HUGE WASTE OF TIME):
1. From the ultrasound that I did in her clinic, Dr. Davies thought that I had a fibroid and need to remove it by surgery and curettage procedure (D&C). I checked with 3 other doctors; none of them confirmed the fibroid. I even did hysteroscopy with another doctor but they did not find any fibroid too.
2. Their egg retrieval is not personalized. They do egg retrieval at a specific time. To align the patient with their schedule, they put you on contraceptive pills. This messed up my regular cycles. Contraceptives are not good at all for everyone. Why adding extra emotional and physical stress just to align patient with your own calendar and to gather all patients to do egg retrieval? This is not an ice-cream production line!
3. They only perform egg retrieval once every two months and you need to wait as long as two months for it which is a waste of time specially for older women in which time is gold.
4. Dr. Davies is very hands off. No communication with her via email.
5. She does not perform IUIs herself (I checked with the nurse and this is what she said)
6. You can only communicate with the nurse not the doctor through email. Unfortunately the nurse could not answer most of my questions. I heard "that is a good question to ask from Dr. Davies" many times with no clear answer! Does the patient need to set up an appointment with Dr. Davies to ask a question????
7. Please be prepared to wait around 3 weeks if you want to make an appointment from Dr. Davies if you are an established patient! otherwise you might need to wait more than a month. Imagine you are an established patient and have a time sensitive question that the nurse could not answer. No other means of communication with doctor.
8. The staff are very unprofessional except Georgette and Alyssa. Aanal is the worst. She does not answer her phone most of the time and you need to leave a message. It took 5 days for her to respond to my email and she is not friendly at all. Their unprofessional and unfriendly behavior became more clear to me once I switched to a new clinic.
9. Their portal is not working. It was a headache trying to log in multiple times and finally I had to send the documents to the nurse from email. I had to request several times to have my lab and ultrasound reports.
Just avoid them.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Susan Davies at Davies Fertility & IVF Specialists?
Dont waste your time with them. Go somewhere else.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Susan Davies at Davies Fertility & IVF Specialists?
They dont care about you. Specially Aanal is the worst. She does not respond well. She procrastinates. After each conversation I had the feeling that "you are not important to us. Dont take our time".
Describe the protocols Susan Davies used in your cycles at Davies Fertility & IVF Specialists and their degree of success.
They put me on contraceptive to synchronize my cycle with their egg retrieval schedule but cancelled it later since they have procrastinated the applying the insurance on time and the follow-up. Since they dont personalize the egg retrieval with the patient's cycle, I lost that batch of egg retrieval and I had to wait two more months to an other batch of egg retrieval (they do all their egg retrievals once in two months). They are not organized at all.
Describe your experience with your nurse at Davies Fertility & IVF Specialists. (Assigned nurse: Aanal Nanavati)
Alyssa is good but she does not know very much about the methods doctor davies uses so she can not provide answer.
Georgette is nice and professional.
Aanal is the worst. She is not professional and caring at all. She does not respond to emails or calls. After each conversation with her I had the feeling that "you are not important to us at all".
Imagine you see your doctor infrequently, you need to make appointment if you have a question (nurses usually say we dont know the answer you need to ask from Dr. Davies) and it takes around 3 weeks to visit your doctor, there is no other way of communication with her like email and then you need to deal with someone like Aanal who just procrastinate, does not answer emails and unprofessional. They just messed up with my regular periods and that's what they did to me. The only outcome after this long waits to see doctor and to do test was that they confirmed that I need to do IVF. I already knew that due to my previous tests. Maybe they were good one day but now I DONOT RECOMMEND THEM AT ALL. DONT WASTE YOUR TIME with them.
Describe your experience with Davies Fertility & IVF Specialists.
Small clinic. Staff look friendly in the first visit. But their behavior is changed once we started preparing my body for egg retrieval. They usually dont explain well the procedure like when they did water ultrasound they did not provide enough information before hand. I did have lots of lab tests and ultrasound from previous doctor but it seems they even did not check those.
Describe the costs associated with your care under Susan Davies at Davies Fertility & IVF Specialists.
Their prices are more expensive than other clinics with less quality. They prescribed a wrong fibroid. The semen analysis test result was a had written sheet with the least information you could imagine that charged above average of the city.
What specific things went wrong at Davies Fertility & IVF Specialists?
Failed to call with results
Failed to inform you of changes in protocol
Provided conflicting information
Failed to convey critical information
Canceled a cycle due to clinic error
Describe the specific things that went wrong at Davies Fertility & IVF Specialists.
They do no provide personalized treatment. Like for egg retrieval they put you on contraceptives even form 5 weeks just to fit you with their schedule. They do egg retrieval at limited times during the year.
They do not provide the results unless to ask them and you need to be persistent so that someone after lots of emails will send you the results.
Most of the time when you call them you need to leave a message and wait for call back.
They do not provide a specific portal so that you can upload every document you have there. They sent me a link once and it did not work I notified them but who cares.
Although I didn't see Dr. Davies at every visit, she was easily accessible and monitored my entire treatment. When we did speak she never rushed me off the phone or out of the office. She explained everything in detail and always asked if I had any questions. She had a plan from the beginning and gave me her suggestions, but ultimately, it was my decision on what I wanted to do
The [Davies Fertility & IVF Specialists] clinic's strengths is that everyone communicates and they know exactly what needs to be done when you are in the office. They are all friendly and compassionate and very knowledgeable. The only weakness of the clinic is that you can't review your information online, but hopefully in the future you can...The nursing staff was AMAZING. They really made you feel special and like you were the only patient

What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Susan Davies at Davies Fertility & IVF Specialists?
The only advice I would give is to really make sure you understand the process and listen to everything Dr. Davies is telling you. Write everything down because the process can be overwhelming and always ask questions. No question is a dumb question!
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Susan Davies at Davies Fertility & IVF Specialists?
At Davies Fertility, everyone there made you feel special. Everyone in the office knew your name asked how I was doing and really showed they cared about me. Also, Dr. Davies always knew exactly what was going on with me even though I didn't see her very often.
Describe the protocols Susan Davies used in your cycles at Davies Fertility & IVF Specialists and their degree of success.
My plan started with surgery. I was referred to a surgeon to remove my uterine fibroids. Once I was healed and got the clear to conceive from my doctor, we started with our first IUI cycle. I had 3 overall IUIs and once the third one failed, Dr. Davies recommended IVF, which we did. Started late in September, had my egg retrieval in October and transferred in November.

Describe the costs associated with your care under Susan Davies at Davies Fertility & IVF Specialists.
I have a primary and secondary insurance that covered most costs.
Describe Susan Davies's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Davies Fertility & IVF Specialists.
Dr. Davies only recommended we transfer 1 embryo for the risk was greater if more than one embryo implanted. I'm glad I listened. My first transfer stuck and I got pregnant with one.
Approach this as a team project. Dr. Davies has been so willing to work with us, but we have found that we have productive meetings when we come prepared as well (questions, research, etc). It's all a bit of a whirlwind so the more we asked, the more we felt comfortable with the procedures and next steps...she enjoys thinking outside the box as if this were a simple change and not a major treatment plan transition in our benefit
The Glen location is great and the office has a safe COVID procedure. Currently you wait in your car until the office calls you up so there are no more than 2-3 patients inside at one time. The procedures are conducted in Lincolnwood and COVID tests are in Skokie, so there is a bit of driving, but each location is about 20 mins away from the clinic and I believe they help patients who live further away to find testing closer to home. The clinic is tidy, always kept warm (my favorite!), and everyone knows you by name.
How was your experience with Susan Davies at Davies Fertility & IVF Specialists?
We're actually still in the middle of treatment but wanted to add a review because of Dr. Davies' extraordinary care for us. We have 3 pgs euploid embryos after 3 egg retrievals and have started to carefully consider transfer options. Since I am a poor responder we elected to conduct an ERA test. During the ERA test I wound up having a very odd, and nearly unheard of, reaction to the progesterone in oil shots. Understandably this caused us considerable angst since it was yet another setback, and honestly we felt like we were somehow causing the problem with this rare reaction. Dr. Davies came back to us with a fantastic alternative solution, and what's most impressive is that even though this new treatment plan is slightly riskier she was willing to prioritize patient care over her statistics without a second thought. When we thanked her she simply said that she enjoys thinking outside the box as if this were a simple change and not a major treatment plan transition in our benefit! At a time when all I feel is terrible Dr. Davies has been a fantastic support.

During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Susan Davies at Davies Fertility & IVF Specialists?
Dr. Davies has a boutique clinic. During cycles it can feel a bit busy, but there is only one doctor, one nurse practitioner, one nurse, one billing coordinator, and one receptionist, with a very small rotating group of ultrasound techs and phlebotomists. This means that everyone is up-to-date on your treatment plan and you will not have to repeat yourself endlessly. I particularly enjoyed building a relationship with the ultrasound techs and phlebotomists as there were the people I saw constantly and it was nice to look forward to a pleasant conversation during unpleasant monitoring.
Describe the protocols Susan Davies used in your cycles at Davies Fertility & IVF Specialists and their degree of success.
So far I have had 3 egg retrievals, with a fourth planned. I started with 150 menopur, 400 follistim, and then ganirelix, increased to 450 follistim for the next two cycles. I have DOR and am a poor responder, so we reached 2 mature eggs on cycle 1, 5 mature eggs on cycle 2, and 4 mature eggs on cycle 3. Dr. Davies encourages ICSI which helped as we had 100% fertilization rates, and actually had most embryos make it to blastocyst. Our real attrition came with PGS test results, but we are so thankful that Dr. Davies suggested it as we would not have known how few embryos were really euploid if not. With DOR it's really important to bank embryos now for future children so this gives us a clear picture going forward.
Describe your experience with your nurse at Davies Fertility & IVF Specialists. (Assigned nurse: Aanal Nanavati)
As previously noted the nursing staff is lean with just one nurse practitioner and one nurse. This has been hugely helpful as we progress through treatment, particularly by the end of a cycle when you really, really would not want to repeat yourself over and over again.

Describe the costs associated with your care under Susan Davies at Davies Fertility & IVF Specialists.
I have an excellent insurance plan so all procedures were covered. We paid out of pocket for genetic testing (approximately $3,000 per cycle, it's much more efficient if you are able to produce a number of embryos at once unlike us), the ERA (approximately $1,000), and a few genetic tests.
Describe Susan Davies's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Davies Fertility & IVF Specialists.
Dr. Davies has suggested eSET and we fully agree. It's far safer and with the ability to conduct genetic testing and the improvements in embryo freezing technology it really makes more sense.
While Dr. Davies is not at every check-up, she was easily accessible and monitored every portion of my treatment. She was quick to jump in and extremely involved when my first embryo attached in an unsafe place. She met with me and my husband several times and was very clear about our course of treatment during a very scary time. When we did our second transfer, she modified her strategy and it worked. Dr. Davies was very kind and empathetic during a very strange and scary journey.
Jennifer and Aanal are an amazing team [of nurses at Davies Fertility & IVF Specialists]. They are so kind, caring, and fun to be around. No matter what was happening, I felt comfortable and like a true priority...Everyone at this clinic is friendly and kind. I was always greeted with a warm smile and hello. The waiting room can get a little tight so it is best to come on your own if you can manage...obviously, this is not possible for everyone, but just a tip.

When coming for your blood work and ultrasounds, listen to the team on when you should arrive. There can be long waits during certain times of the month. This is communicated to the patient, but it seemed patients chose to ignore these warnings!
Describe Susan Davies's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Davies Fertility & IVF Specialists.
We had always planned to go with one embryo. I believe she has protocols in place for when to perform multiple embryo transfer. We were asked our preference.
Dr. Davies showed compassion whenever we met with her. You can tell she was passionate about her job and helping couples achieve pregnancy. She was welcoming, has a soft spoken voice which is comforting to me and explains everything thoroughly and even with illustrations so we could get a visual of what she was explaining to us. Although we haven't had any actual procedures with Dr. Davies because of the COVID-19 situation, I am confident that Dr. Davies will help us achieve our goal of becoming parents.
You can tell that everyone who works at Dr. Davies's office [Davies Fertility & IVF Specialist] is kind and understanding. Georgette, the receptionist remembered my name after only coming into the office a couple of times. This to me, shows that everyone in the clinic cares for their patients and really takes the time to remember who you are. I don't feel like just another number in their book, but a patient that they truly care about.

Don't be nervous. Dr. Davies is very kind and puts any worry at ease. She is compassionate and you can tell by the way she speaks to you.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Susan Davies at Davies Fertility & IVF Specialists?
Dr. Davies was very sympathetic and understanding to our situation. She did not make us (my husband and I) feel bad with our situation and instead reassured us that we will work together to get that end result of a pregnancy. Her confidence and passion was obvious during our conversation and we could tell that she was on our side. She took her time to explain how her approach was and stopped to make sure that we didn't have any questions. She gave off a warm, motherly feeling.
Describe the protocols Susan Davies used in your cycles at Davies Fertility & IVF Specialists and their degree of success.
As I mentioned in my previous comments, due to the COVID-19 situation we haven't moved forward with any procedures. However, based on our discussions and the treatment strategies we discussed monitoring my cycle, getting my body at the right levels and proceeding with IVF. We discussed freezing the embryos prior to transfer rather than a few days later because studies have shown that when the body has rest from retrieval, there was a higher percentage of getting pregnant.

I believe this will vary depending on one's insurance. However, my office visits varied between $85-$300, Ultrasound was $520, varies lab tests ran between $30-$100. This is what Dr. Davies's clinic charged, however not what i paid because my insurance covered some of it.

every time I met with Dr. Davies she knew my background and was able to make me feel like I was the only patient at that time. I also appreciate how everyone in the office got to know me/my name and their genuine care made me feel very special! This is truly a place that cares about their patients...Initially I went through an egg retrieval with Dr. Davies and at the time we were uncertain if my husband had sperm. He underwent surgery and luckily they found Soren. Dr. Davies team of embryologists were able to create embryos. We tried one transfer with a frozen egg, that’s didn’t result in a pregnancy. So Dr. Davies suggested an ERA (endometrial receptivity analysis), which I did and the results said day 5 was the best for transfer (which is what is typically done). We did another transfer after this and the results were a pregnancy!

I had really great insurance with WIN Fertility. The genetic testing was the greatest cost.
Describe Susan Davies's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Davies Fertility & IVF Specialists.
I feel that the approach of a single transfer makes a lot of sense - I would be appreciative with one healthy baby at a time!
Dr. Davies was very personable and always accessible. Even when I didn’t see her often, I always felt I was just a call away and could reach out to her anytime. When I went in for both my retrieval and my transfer she was personable and made sure I was comfortable and understood everything that was to happen...From the minute we would walk in the office we had a personal 1on1 experience.
The hardest part [of Davies Fertility & IVF] I think was just fighting with insurance but the staff was so helpful at moving that along quickly. Once we were approved and in, everything went smoothly. Going in as a new patient just be ready for lots of ultrasounds and blood work. By the end you won’t even notice. The nurse on staff is great and gets you the first time.

When we confirmed pregnancy they celebrated with us, and on “graduation day,” it was bittersweet. We were so happy to be pregnant and be heading back to our OBGYN, but sad we would not be seeing these wonderful ladies everyday. It was hard not to give hugs to everyone as well, but Covid. We already are looking forward to seeing everyone when we go back for baby #2.

Insurance doesn’t cover everything. Any additional testing on the embryos was a cost to us, as well as freezing for future
We were very impressed with Dr. Davies at the initial consultation. She seemed caring and knowledgeable and eager to help us. Once we started treatment, though, I/we only saw her a handful of times in the 8-9 months that followed, and that includes the egg retrieval and embryo transfer. Roughly 98% of our interactions were with her staff; any time we WERE scheduled to meet with Dr. Davies, everyone acted as if we were going before the Great Oz herself during our appointment, which was... weird.
It's [Davies Fertility & IVF Specialists] a small, all-female clinic, which is nice. The wait times for the early morning ultrasounds and lab work can be quite lengthy, since there are no actual appointments and everybody comes at once...I overheard the staff make catty/disparaging comments about patients on several occasions, within earshot of other patients in the waiting room

With the exception of Aanal, everyone in the clinic was incredibly kind... to my face. However, I overheard the staff make catty/disparaging comments about patients on several occasions, within earshot of other patients in the waiting room. I kept to myself and tried to stay above the fray, but I was not spared from the "Mean Girls" treatment.
I was on the phone with a hospital administrator sorting out a billing error and finalizing a formal complaint (re: said billing error), and was utterly horrified to hear her rattle off the details of my embryo transfer procedure, just as casually as (I'm sure) she heard them.
We decided against filing a HIPAA complaint at the time, because a) we had already been discharged back to our regular providers b) we wanted absolutely nothing more to do with this clinic, and c) we feared retaliation against our remaining embryos. We did look into it after the fact, but apparently all reports of HIPAA violations must be filed within 180 days from the date of the incident.
To answer the question, no-- we were not treated like a number. But in hindsight, I'd rather be a number than fodder for the office gossip any day.
Describe the protocols Susan Davies used in your cycles at Davies Fertility & IVF Specialists and their degree of success.
We were not allowed to try Clomid (apparently my AMH levels are high and that would have caused the drugs to work too well?) and Dr. Davies would only let us make three IUI attempts due to age. She said from the start that we would be very successful with IVF and she wasn't wrong, but I still don't fully understand how moving to IVF as quickly as we did wasn't overkill.
Describe your experience with the nursing staff at Davies Fertility & IVF Specialists.
Nurse Jennifer was definitely the most genuine of the bunch-- she had more of a tough love approach but was a straight shooter who generally said what she meant, and I appreciated that.

It's a small, all-female clinic, which is nice. The wait times for the early morning ultrasounds and lab work can be quite lengthy, since there are no actual appointments and everybody comes at once.
Describe your experience with your monitoring appointments at Davies Fertility & IVF Specialists.
All ultrasounds and lab work took place before 9:00 a.m. and the daily cattle call led to some pretty lengthy wait times. I spent a lot of time in that waiting room.
Describe the costs associated with your care under Susan Davies at Davies Fertility & IVF Specialists.
We don't have health insurance through our employers and were very limited in our options of providers through our Marketplace plan. Even though Dr. Davies' clinic was in-network, the hospital was not, so we paid out-of-pocket for those.
Describe Susan Davies's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Davies Fertility & IVF Specialists.
I definitely didn't want twins, so we decided to transfer one embryo at a time.

Communication overall was not great. I had to call repeatedly to get answers to even the most simple questions. Aanal the PA was particularly difficult to deal with.
At the end only 2 eggs fertilized they were frozen for a cycle and then she [Dr. Davies] decided to transfer both eggs. Only one took...treated me with care and respect... She’s the 1st doctor out of the 3 that took the time to call me and see how I was doing and to give me bad news as well. She was always by my side and trying to make me feel better and relax. I am very thankful and now very hopeful with our baby on the way. I had lost faith and Dr. Davies brought it back.
all the [nurses at Davies Fertility & IVF Specialists] where great. They always answered my questions and took very good care of me. They were all very kind and always remembered my name and my husbands and treated us very kind...There was not much wait. They where always fast, easy and with care. I noticed that once I got a positive result my appointments where scheduled at times when other patients where not there. I wonder if this is, so they wont feel bad because one is happy and they are still waiting.

After our 1st failed IVF with Dr. Davies and our 4th in total. Dr. Davies recommended I tried to relax and do acupuncture. I waited a month and tried to stress less at work, I also did Yoga. I took my prenatal vitamins recommended by Dr. Davies, ate healthier and then followed the injections as instructed.

At the end only 2 eggs fertilized they were frozen for a cycle and then she decided to transfer both eggs. Only one took. This was a good decision on her part.
Gonal F was used for egg retrievals. Because I responded so well, the doses were low. For embryo transfer I did 6 pills of estrace a day along with 2mL progesterone in oil shots a week leading up to the transfer and continuing after. I also was on baby aspirin and prenatal vitamins. I was diagnosed with a certain mthfr mutation that she stated causes blood clots but refused to do blood thinner because it has not been proven to be successful. In all my results have been 2 chemical pregnancies and 2 miscarriages. My wife also went to her and has had similar protocols and results.
I love that it is a small clinic so you do not feel like a number. They make you feel important and there are times you forget they have a bunch of other patients. I think their biggest weakness wold be they recently took on a lot more patients and wait times can be insane, sometimes over an hour. They really need to hire another ultrasound tech because having only one during the IVF cycle time does not allow a quick visit. There were times I was waiting up to an hour. In my experience they are a great group of women to work with that make you feel comfortable, but because it has been several years with no live birth and no real explanation, I can not possibly say I am satisfied with them at this point.
How was your experience with Susan Davies at Davies Fertility & IVF Specialists?
Dr. Davies is a very caring, nice person. My biggest issue is the amount of times I would see her. The only time I would see her is if I scheduled a consultation or the day of my egg retrieval or embryo transfer. I rarely saw her in the office unless it was previously scheduled. In times of heartache and pain, occasionally she would call but for the most part she lets her staff handle.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Susan Davies at Davies Fertility & IVF Specialists?
Ask questions, she is the most patient doctor who will answer any and every question. Demand changes to protocol if it isn't working out.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Susan Davies at Davies Fertility & IVF Specialists?
Davies staff is small, the more you are at their office the more like family they become. It is probably to a fault because it is one of the only reasons we have stayed so long. They are extremely friendly, one of the nicest group of people I have met and they make you feel like you are their only patient.

Like I stated previously, they have too many patients to have only one ultrasound technician. Wait times can be well over 30 minutes when IVF cycles are going on.
Dr. Davies meant well. She was compassionate and explained the process thoroughly; however, when we were not successful achieve pregnancy transfer after transfer she blamed statistics....After each failed transfer she asked us what we were thinking we should do next which seemed strange. She also said she had ideas which were the same each time... she had sceheduled my medications around her clinics schedule instead of my body’s cycles

How was your experience with Susan Davies at Davies Fertility & IVF Specialists?
Dr. Davies meant well. She was compassionate and explained the process thoroughly; however, when we were not successful achieve pregnancy transfer after transfer she blamed statistics. After five embryos (3 transfers), you would expect that you would be pregnant if it were statistics. If we were going to go through another round of stimulation with her she wanted to use the same protocol with the addition of testing my lining prior to stimulation as well as genetic testing on the embryos. After each failed transfer she asked us what we were thinking we should do next which seemed strange. She also said she had ideas which were the same each time. I do know two people who were successful with her however, I still wouldn’t recommend her to friends. When you look at her pluisbed statistics online they are not very good compared to other clinics.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Susan Davies at Davies Fertility & IVF Specialists?
Go onto the online data base where you can see percentages of successful transfers, births, etc for each doctor. It was enlightening for us and ultimately why we switch ed doctors. Her numbers were not published when we started seeing her because her clinic was new.

This clinics strength is the compassion from the nurses and doctor. Their weakness however is the low success rates which in my opinion is the most important thing during this process because above all that is the reason you are there.

I wanted more interaction with Dr. Davies herself. I would go weeks without hearing from her and had to demand to see her when my transfer protocol failed to figure out what happened and see if anything could be done in order to get me ready for an actual transfer. Every time I did speak with Dr. Davies I felt better, but definitely thought I would have a lot more interaction with her along the way. She doesn't even have a voicemail box, which is surprising and disappointing.
I was pretty upset when my first FET protocol didn't work and we had to cancel everything before even getting to transfer [at Davies Fertility & IVF Specialists]. They said "well, that happens sometimes. Bad cycle" and just wanted to wait and try again. I called to speak to the Dr, whom I hadn't interacted with since the retrieval weeks prior,...if I didn't ask for a consult and demand tests to see why it didn't work I would have wasted more time with another FET protocol.

Be your own advocate and ask the questions you need to know.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Susan Davies at Davies Fertility & IVF Specialists?
They knew my name, know my son and his name, and as we got farther into the process they remembered my story and what I was trying to accomplish. I did have to ask A LOT of questions about why I was taking certain drugs or doing it in a certain way, because they often would just give me the protocol with no explanation about it, which was frustrating. But overall they worked with me as a human.

STIMS for 10 days: Days 1-5 were 400 Follistism/Gonal-F and 150 Menopur, Day 6 added 250 Ganirelix through Day 10.
GEEP/FET: 10 Lupron until Day 1 start, then 5 Lupron at night and 1 estrace tablet; Day 6 was 2 estrace tablets and 5 Lupron; Day 10 started 3 estrace in morning and 3 at night and 1 Medrol per day until Day 15, then added 1 estrogen patch and PIO at night until Day 16 with PIO morning and night and only 4 estrace tablets. In that process now and Transfer is scheduled for Day 20.
Describe your experience with your nurse at Davies Fertility & IVF Specialists. (Assigned nurse: Aanal)
Aanal was great, but direct and dry and did not explain why on each med. She also never answered my emails to her but was great with calls. And when I got emotional once she did hug me which was reassuring. I felt badly for her because I would get frustrated I was only speaking to her and not Dr Davies. Update: after my failed transfer Aanal was very compassionate and spent a lot of time with me figuring out next steps. I really appreciated that.

All female office, which is very warm and welcoming. They really worked with my schedule as a single parent and made appointments easy. Shannon in the billing department was super helpful and Georgette at the front desk was always nice. Jennifer, the nurse/PA, is excellent. Erica was a bit rough around the edges; I can tell if she likes you she treats you like gold but you don't want to be on her sh!t list.

She [Dr Susan Davies] looked through my records and she said too many things were done wrong with me. She said first they induced my egg donor too much. I had 32 eggs when she should of had around 14 eggs. That means I was being implanted with too many bad eggs. The eggs should of been genetically tested to get rid of the bad eggs. Then she said my blood wasn't clotting to the embryo. She said all my pregnancies before were chemically pregnancies. She listens and solved my problem BEST PLACE!

She [Dr. Davies] is sensitive, kind, compassionate, and encouraging. ... Every time I had a failed cycle, she herself called me, as opposed to the nurse. When I had a successful cycle, she met with me as well. And she did every IVF procedure herself, which was very comforting. The only thing I might say that I wish she would've done differently would be providing more blunt, straight-forward, factual information after a failed cycle.
Weaknesses [of Davies Fert & IVF Spec] would be their scheduling system. Even though they take appointments, they see patients on a first come first serve basis. So basically, 40 women could have a 7AM appointment. So, what happens is all those women line up in the hallway and are seen in the order in which they arrive. This makes mornings VERY difficult with work. You really do need to arrive extremely early for your appointments.
How was your experience with Susan Davies at Davies Fertility & IVF Specialists?
Dr. Davies is exactly the type of Dr I could ever ask for while going through fertility treatments. She is sensitive, kind, compassionate, and encouraging. Every time I met with her she sat with me for as long as I needed, was understanding of my confusion and questions, and was just such a sounding board for my husband and me throughout this scary process. For example, after my last failed IVF cycle I met with her and asked questions like, "I know that on average it takes 1.9 IVF transfers to be successful. Is that number because most often it's successful on the first try but sometimes it takes on the 3rd? Or is it most commonly successful on the 2nd try?". Her answer was something like, "Yeah, it's all over the board, you just never know." I also asked her about my progesterone in oil process during that failed round, because it was incredibly painful and I worried that it wasn't dispersing properly in my body. I asked if that could've potentially caused issues and she said no. Now...that may be true but they never tested my progesterone levels. And this time around (my successful cycle) the PIO has been WAY better, so I still wonder about that. All that being said, I absolutely adore this woman and would never want to see a different doctor for my fertility needs.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Susan Davies at Davies Fertility & IVF Specialists?
Prepare to arrive to morning monitoring appointments VERY early. Even though they "make appointments" they see patients on a first come first serve basis.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Susan Davies at Davies Fertility & IVF Specialists?
The staff at Davies' office is like family. Georgette at the front desk knows me by name, knows my mom, and my husband too. She remembers who I'm friends with (who have been seen by their clinic in the past) and asks about them. The clinic is very small and I have never once felt like just a number. The nurse and nurse practitioner know my situation well and are always responsive to my needs. Even though I only met with Dr. Davies herself a handful of times, she never made me feel like she didn't remember me; in fact it has always been the exact opposite.
Describe the protocols Susan Davies used in your cycles at Davies Fertility & IVF Specialists and their degree of success.
For the IUIs, I took birth control and Letrizole, with a Lupron trigger. For IVF, I used the antagonist protocol. I stimmed with Menopur, Ganorelix, Lupron, birth control, and on my successful cycle, added in Ecotrin. Then of course Progesterone in Oil and Estrodial before transfer and afterwards. I believe they used this protocol because I have PCOS.
Describe your experience with your nurse at Davies Fertility & IVF Specialists. (Assigned nurse: Jennifer and Aanal)
Aanal is the nurse practitioner and is absolutely wonderful. I believe she may have her hands a little full, but she handles it well. Aanal is kind, compassionate, patient, and smart. I absolutely loved being under her care. She didn't always respond as quickly as I would've liked, but again she is the only nurse practitioner at the office and I'm sure has her hands very full.
Jennifer is the nurse, who took my blood, did a lot of my consults, etc. She is good at her job and is thorough. I didn't feel the warmth from her that I did from Aanal, but she was good at her job and that's all I can ask for.
Describe your experience with Davies Fertility & IVF Specialists.
The strengths are definitely how they treat their patients. While going through such sensitive treatments, I believe this is the most important factor of a clinic. The quality of care I received was above and beyond. I plan to visit the clinic often, and was so sad when I "graduated" because they truly feel like family.

Describe your experience with your monitoring appointments at Davies Fertility & IVF Specialists.
A cattle call with a line around the corner seems like an appropriate way to describe it, unfortunately. This only happened on very busy monitoring days, but women lined up outside before the doors to the building opened, and then lined up in the hallway until clinic doors opened.
Describe the costs associated with your care under Susan Davies at Davies Fertility & IVF Specialists.
My insurance (BCBS HMO) covered this process 100%, aside from PGS testing, which was about $4,000.
Describe Susan Davies's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Davies Fertility & IVF Specialists.
For both transfers, she strongly suggested I transfer only one embryo. She said that because I am young and have not done many transfers, I should continue transferring 1 until the time was right to try 2. After the first unsuccessful round, I wanted to transfer 2 and she respected my decision but was very clear about the risks. I ended up changing my mind and transferring only 1.
After every procedure, Dr Davis made sure to stop by the recovery room to make sure I was being taken cared of well and made sure our questions were being answered. Also, she would make it a point to call us after each major procedure to encourage us and to make sure I was doing well...She was very personable. In order to explain the complicated process of IVF, she would often simplify it by drawing diagrams that would explain clearly our options and adjust our expectations. We felt safe and confident in her abilities...
After our first unsuccessful IVF cycle [at Davies Fertility & IVF Specialists], we were given the option to undergo an ERA procedure in order to determine the best possible implant day...The nursing staff was extremely supportive, thorough and encouraging!...Everything went well [during monitoring]. Staff we very professional and kind...The clinic was super supportive and the staff knew you by name. Know that when you go there, you will surely get a personable experience. There are times when there will be a long wait to get an ultrasound done but they do their best to move as efficiently as they can so that patients get to work on time and to their next appointment.

After every procedure, Dr Davis made sure to stop by the recovery room to make sure I was being taken cared of well and made sure our questions were being answered. Also, she would make it a point to call us after each major procedure to encourage us and to make sure I was doing well. Her medical and office staff was always helpful, supportive and encouraging.
Describe the protocols Susan Davies used in your cycles at Davies Fertility & IVF Specialists and their degree of success.
After our first unsuccessful IVF cycle, we were given the option to undergo an ERA procedure in order to determine the best possible implant day. Although this would postpone our next IVF cycle, my husband and I decided to do the procedure to ensure our next cycle would be more successful. The results revealed that indeed a 5day embryo transfer would produce positive results. We also were advised to complete another round of egg retrieval since we only had one embryo left. Unfortunately, our second round of egg retrieval was not as successful as the first, resulting in zero useable embryos. Despite the news, we continued with our second round of implantation and thankfully our embryo was able to implant and we are currently pregnant.

The clinic was super supportive and the staff knew you by name. Know that when you go there, you will surely get a personable experience. There are times when there will be a long wait to get an ultrasound done but they do their best to move as efficiently as they can so that patients get to work on time and to their next appointment.
Describe your experience with your monitoring appointments at Davies Fertility & IVF Specialists.
Everything went well. Staff we very professional and kind.
I have very successfull experience with Susan Davies. Everything was explained very clearly to me, I was given multiple treatment options...We started with letrozole (do not remember dosage) and IUI. Doctor recommended 3 cycles only stating that chances are low after 3 failed IUIs. Letrozole dosage was always the same. After 3rd failed IUI, I decided to proceed with IVF...Doctor is very cautious about OHSS and conservative with medication dosages to be safe. We did ICSI IVF....Per doctor’s recommendation, all embryos were frozen,..I was recommended syngle embryo transfer.
This is small clinic [Davies Fert and IVF Spec] and every staff member is very friendly and involved with every patient. Office has warm and comfortable atmosphere which helps to feel that you are treated as human ...Appointmens time is flexible and over all I had very positive experience with this office. They tried to minimize stress diring the entire process...Nursing staff was very professional and caring. I have only good commens about every team member...Around $2400 for medicated IUI cycle. Around $17000 for IVF...Everyone is friendly and it feels very comfortable in the office.

We started with letrozole (do not remember dosage) and IUI. Doctor recommended 3 cycles only stating that chances are low after 3 failed IUIs. Letrozole dosage was always the same. After 3rd failed IUI, I decided to proceed with IVF but had to wait one month for eggs retrival so did another IUI while waiting. Eggs retrival was success. Doctor is very cautious about OHSS and conservative with medication dosages to be safe. We did ICSI IVF. Out of 13 eggs retrieved, 11 were fertilized and 6 made to 5 day blastocysts. Per doctor’s recommendation, all embryos were frozen, I was told that success rates are higher if we wait at list one cycle after eggs retrival. We also did PGD testing - 5 embryos were normal. One month after retrival, we did single frozen embryo transfer wich resulted in successful pregnancy. I was on progesterone oil shots and estogen pills for first 10 weeks of pregnancy. After that, I was released to my regular Obgyn.
