This is the most recent data from the CDC. The CDC cautions that it should not be used to compare doctors and clinics. This data represents the outcomes of IVF cycles when using a person's own eggs.
For more information please see our FAQs.
Where you see a “?” on the chart, a clinic has done fewer than 20 cycles in this category and age range, so the CDC says showing percentages from this small data set would be misleading and unreliable.

How was your experience with Jennifer Kawwass at Emory University Reproductive Center?
Dr. Kawwass was informative, empathetic, and knowledgeable. She listened to my story and created a plan that ultimately resulted in healthy twin boys. She adjusted next steps and medicines as needed and always kept me informed. When I learned at an US the first pregnancy was no longer viable, she talked with me in person right afterwards. It was so helpful and comforting.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Jennifer Kawwass at Emory University Reproductive Center?
Make your first appointment before you think you need it; she books up so quickly for new patients.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Jennifer Kawwass at Emory University Reproductive Center?
Dr. Kawwass and her staff knew my name and my story. They were always so pleasant on the phone and in person, and the nurses provided results quickly and clearly. I was in treatment in the height of COVID, and the team didn’t miss a beat.
Describe the protocols Jennifer Kawwass used in your cycles at Emory University Reproductive Center and their degree of success.
I started with IUI because that’s what my health insurance covered and then moved to IVF. It was a difficult decision for me to transition to IVF, as I’d need an egg retrieval, not to mention the out of pocket costs. Dr. Kawwass was great throughout this process.

Rachel was always great at her job—called quickly after results were released and so good at delivering good and bad news. She was a rock in this process.
Describe your experience with Emory University Reproductive Center.
Great new facility in Midtown, kind staff, multiple locations for testing and US. It was hard to coordinate quick communication with the billing team, so if you have to run payments and approval through insurance, start this process as soon as possible.
Describe the costs associated with your care under Jennifer Kawwass at Emory University Reproductive Center.
IUI was covered by my insurance, as were my IVF/egg retrieval drugs. I paid out of pocket for IVF, and I think it was less than $17k from retrieval to one transfer.
Describe Jennifer Kawwass's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Emory University Reproductive Center.
No comments. Given my age, we transferred two embryos, which made sense, in light of my fertility challenges leading to that point in addition to my age.

Dr. Kawwass is hands-down one of the best, if not THE best, doctors we have ever had in any specialty. Her combination of empathy and competence makes her uniquely suited to excel as a reproductive endocrinologist, an area of medicine where emotions run high. Her confidence was contagious and reassuring.

Describe your experience with your nurse at Emory University Reproductive Center. (Assigned nurse: Mary)
My primary nurse changed mid-treatment because my original nurse (Lutissa) left the clinic. My care was not interrupted, and Mary and Nancy picked up where Lutissa left off. Nancy is little more no-nonsense and is reluctant to classify any symptoms or experiences as "normal". I appreciated her willingness to distinguish when patients should or should not be concerned. Mary is very kind, compassionate, encouraging, and competent. Her answers to questions were always reassuring and optimistic (when appropriate). Even when sharing mixed news (e.g. a great, thick lining but a low serum E2), she was reassuring.

Describe Jennifer Kawwass's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Emory University Reproductive Center.
Dr. Kawwass clearly conveyed that a singleton live birth is considered success by the Emory Reproductive Center. It was highly recommended that we transfer one embryo since we did PGS. We felt confident in this decision.

How was your experience with Jennifer Kawwass at Emory University Reproductive Center?
I found doctor Kawwass after trying 2 other clinics int he area and the experience was night and day. I came into the treatment knowing I would be a poor responder to meds due to my high FSH and very low AMH. When my first attempts at injections did not produce the results I was hoping for Dr. Kawwass talked to me on the phone and helped calm me down. She did not make me feel hopeless like previous doctors. She said we would change up the protocol and that everyone was different and we would find something that worked for me. Sure enough we did and this has resulted in my first pregnancy ever. Dr. Kawwass's empathy and kindness were a shining light in a scary and difficult time.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Jennifer Kawwass at Emory University Reproductive Center?
Dr. Kawwass will be realistic but also positive about your treatment options. Trust her. She is very knowledgeable and professional.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Jennifer Kawwass at Emory University Reproductive Center?
This is why I had switched clinics 2 times previously. I never felt like a number at Emory. Each treatment is an individualized approach with a doctor who cares about you and your results.
Describe the protocols Jennifer Kawwass used in your cycles at Emory University Reproductive Center and their degree of success.
1st attempt (IUI) we used letrozole and I produced 3 mature follicles. The IUI was unsuccessful.
2nd (IVF) attempt we used an antagonist protocol with birth control pills. This resulted in only one follicle maturing and we converted to an IUI which was unsuccessful.
3rd attempt (IVF) we changed up my med protocol to estrogen patches (fearing the birth control pills had over suppressed me) Chlomid for 5 days and then lower doses of meds (75 Menopur and 150 Follistim) This resulted in 7 eggs, 6 mature, 2 good quality and transferred back on day 3. 9 weeks of pregnancy with 1 singleton. So far ultrasounds are going well and I have been released to choose regular obgyn.
Describe your experience with the nursing staff at Emory University Reproductive Center.
Very prompt responses. Knowledgeable. I always felt safe trusting their advice and recommendations.
Describe your experience with Emory University Reproductive Center.
Emory does not discriminate based on your initial hormone levels or prognosis. They do not refuse treatment. Even though they are not choosing preferred patients (which is how I felt about the other clinics) their success rates are still some of the highest out there. I was treated by multiple doctors there and I was confident and trusting that each one knew exactly what they were doing and treated me with the upmost care. They each treated me as if they were my primary doctor and this is what has resulted in my pregnancy.
Describe the costs associated with your care under Jennifer Kawwass at Emory University Reproductive Center.
Cost for IUI, meds, and procedure totaled approximately 20-21K
Describe Jennifer Kawwass's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Emory University Reproductive Center.

Just had one mix up over the phone with a nurse on date of an IUI but all was corrected before any damage was done.
Dr. Kawwass felt like we needed to transfer both of our embryos at the same time given my age and to get us pregnant. It worked with 1 of them!...asked us in depth questions other doctors had not asked. She was very sensitive to what we had been through with 1 failed IVF cycle and didn't make huge promises. She was always very candid and cautious but optimistic. Her kind and genuine demeanor made us feel like she cared about us and wasn't trying to "sell" IVF to us or any process. She let us decide how we wanted to try to get pregnant.
Our nurse, care coordinator and all of the nursing staff [at Emory University Reproductive Center] were so kind. They all were pleasant each day we were at their office and knew me by name after my second appointment...The clinic is great about scheduling where you do not wait long at all. I've been to other doctor's where you felt like you were in a "baby mill" because of all of the people waiting. The only weakness is the parking of the Midtown office, but that's to be expected with Atlanta!
How was your experience with Jennifer Kawwass at Emory University Reproductive Center?
Dr. Kawwass loves what she does and it shows. She immediately assessed the diagnosis of our previous doctor and informed me I was not in pre-menopause as the other doctor had stated. She was clear that we had some unexplained reasons for not getting pregnant but checked on things the other doctor hadn't. She was great about reviewing our previous medical history and results and made changes to the protocol that I firmly believe got us pregnant. Her kindness and directness made us feel like she wasn't "selling" us and wanted to make sure we were taking the road we actually wanted to take.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Jennifer Kawwass at Emory University Reproductive Center?
Call her ASAP if you are having issues getting pregnant. She will be honest about your results and will dive into many aspects of your health and medical history to try and find the true reason behind your infertility. She's also extremely sensitive to how hard the process is and you feel like she cares and wants to help.

Dr. Kawwass put me on the max dosage of the stimulation medications, used estrogen patches instead of birth control to set my hormone levels and also put me on the max progesterone injections. Her methods were to get as many eggs as she could given my age.

Our nurse, care coordinator and all of the nursing staff were so kind. They all were pleasant each day we were at their office and knew me by name after my second appointment. Most visits were quick and easy. I did experience one mishap with scheduling, though the doctor and nursing staff were able to accommodate me anyhow. Billing was sometimes slower than I would have liked, but we received detailed invoicing and plenty of time in which to pay our bills.

I went to the pharmacy and my rx wasn’t there - the issue was corrected in less than 12 hours! This did not cause any issues for me or delay treatment! It was not one of my main fertility meds.
Dr. Kawwass always treated you like a person first...first attempt was to do a fresh embryo transfer so medication protocols for myself and the donor had to sync up timing-wise...tried another transfer a few months later with the next best rated/grade embryo, which had been frozen
The messaging system is great with Emory. You can send a quick message and get a reply rather than having to wait to get someone on the phone. The financial office is difficult to work with...coordinators were always nice and available...felt like I was always asking questions instead of more proactive check-ins
How was your experience with Jennifer Kawwass at Emory University Reproductive Center?
Dr. Kawwass is the best doctor-patient relationship I have had. She is caring but knowledgeable. The IVF process is so complex, that I think it is hard to cover every scenario but she did her best to explain it in a way you could understand. I knew I could come to her if I needed a question answered or support. She also celebrated with us when we got good results and reached out to support us when we got bad results.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Jennifer Kawwass at Emory University Reproductive Center?
Ask a lot of questions. I think she tries not to overwhelm you with information, but she's willing to answer anything so just come in to conversations with her with all your questions.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Jennifer Kawwass at Emory University Reproductive Center?
Dr. Kawwass always treated you like a person first. She cared about you and what you wanted and would explain options / answer questions along the way.
Describe the protocols Jennifer Kawwass used in your cycles at Emory University Reproductive Center and their degree of success.
We explored both fresh and frozen egg donation options for our IVF journey as I did not have viable eggs to use. We ultimately chose fresh as we thought we'd have a better chance of getting more embryos in one round with a fresh egg donor than purchasing sets of frozen eggs. I didn't realize at the time the extra complexity and delayed timing that might be involved so I share that with anyone who asks about going one route or another.
Our first attempt was to do a fresh embryo transfer so medication protocols for myself and the donor had to sync up timing-wise. We both also had several appointments to make sure everything was on track. It worked out fine for us both, but had something come up in testing either of us we would have had to the route of freezing the embryos and planning a transfer for when my body was ready.
They were able to get 16 eggs from the donor, but as they went through testing, were created into embryos, and matured, we ended up with 4 viable embryos. We transferred the one that had the best grade during the first fresh transfer. We were excited to be confirmed pregnant after the dreaded 10 day wait, and confirmed again after the next round. Unfortunately we lost the pregnancy around 6-7weeks when we could not find a heartbeat.
We tried another transfer a few months later with the next best rated/grade embryo, which had been frozen. The medication protocol for this was a lot easier, first because my cycle/lining seemed to be at a good place when we first checked and also because we were not trying to align with timing of a fresh egg retrieval. I am happy to report that we have a healthy baby boy from this second attempt!
Describe your experience with your nurse at Emory University Reproductive Center.
The coordinators were always nice and available. We switched people as there was one coordinator for fresh transfers and one for frozen so we had both. Sometimes we felt a little lost through the process so I felt like I was always asking questions instead of more proactive check-ins, but that may have just been their method of not overwhelming people.
Describe your experience with Emory University Reproductive Center.
The messaging system is great with Emory. You can send a quick message and get a reply rather than having to wait to get someone on the phone. The financial office is difficult to work with, so be prepared to track them down and have a sub-optimal experience on that side.
Describe the costs associated with your care under Jennifer Kawwass at Emory University Reproductive Center.
Our IVF procedures were not covered by insurance. In total between appointments and procedures for myself, my husband, and the egg donor, plus medications this has cost us over $40k.
Describe Jennifer Kawwass's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Emory University Reproductive Center.
At first I wondered why they wouldn't try multiple, but after talking through the recommendations and risks I agreed that one embryo transfer sounded like the wise choice. I also didn't necessarily want multiples, so that seemed like a route to a better chance of that.
During our first consultation, [Dr. Jennifer Kawwass] asked me about my fertility goals and fibroid symptoms in detail...robotic myomectomy followed by egg freezing...convinced us to go for embryo freezing vs egg...She drew our diagrams and provided numbers for rates at each stage given my >35 age
Emory [University Reproductive Center] midtown was convenient and like a well-oiled machine...staff was also very friendly and helpful...found the initial protocol explanations confusing with the written explanation Emory provides but after speaking to 2 nurses, they answered all my questions.
How was your experience with Jennifer Kawwass at Emory University Reproductive Center?
I waited for a long time to see Dr.Kawwass. I think the wait was around 3 months and it was worth it. During our first consultation, she asked me about my fertility goals and fibroid symptoms in detail. I felt very listened to as we jointly laid out a plan to see if I would be a good candidate for a robotic myomectomy followed by egg freezing. Turns out I was and after that surgery (performed by Dr. Hill at Emory) there was a smaller fibroid remaining. She actually performed the vaginal procedure to remove it. From there, we went through 2 embryo freezing cycles; She's actually the one that convinced us to go for embryo freezing vs egg. She drew our diagrams and provided numbers for rates at each stage given my >35 age. After a somewhat disappointing first cycle, she was so quick to send reassuring words and adjust a small part of the treatment. After we moved away from Atlanta, we even reached out to ask her advice and she always responded quickly and with so much warmth. When we became pregnant naturally, I still msged her to let her know. She's the best doctor I've ever had. Insanely smart and compassionate.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Jennifer Kawwass at Emory University Reproductive Center?
Be prepared to not have Dr.Kawwass actually perform the procedures. Emory schedules things differently and its more of a shift/on-call based thing. You'll basically create a plan with her and the team handles the rest.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Jennifer Kawwass at Emory University Reproductive Center?
Dr.Kawwass is an exceptional fertility doctor. Her dedication to my care and approach truly set her apart. She took the time to listen to my needs (and fears) and literally drew out treatment options. She provided detailed explanations, breaking down the data for me to help make decisions. I believe at the time she was facing her own health-related treatments, but her top concern was for her patients. She's known as a top fertility Dr for a reason.
Describe your experience with the nursing staff at Emory University Reproductive Center.
Every time I came into the clinic, the staff was also very friendly and helpful. I appreciated that they were quick to schedule things and sequenced things like blood work along with Drs visits so I didn't have to come in over and over again. I found the initial protocol explanations confusing with the written explanation Emory provides but after speaking to 2 nurses, they answered all my questions. I would recommend being proactive with reaching out.
Describe your experience with Emory University Reproductive Center.
Emory midtown was convenient and like a well-oiled machine. They're so used to the high volume of patients; it initially felt a little mechanical but then I honestly appreciated it. If you're working while going through treatments, you want them to be on time, fast and efficient. They were still fun and kind of course. You definitely get to know each other coming in so often.

I was told after my robotic myomectomy that I was clear for a natural birth. However, now that I'm pregnant, from the post-op report, it looks like it would still be risky (due to uterine rupture) and have been recommended to go for a c-section.
Dr. Schirmer is very patient in explaining the medical process as well as potential reasons behind each procedure...Every procedure he did was a success...the simulation and egg retrieval was not a pain to me at all...clinic does not allow multiple embryo transfer...I especially like that he presents me scientific statistical results for my decision making
[Emory University Reproductive Center] is the only clinic i have been to. I think it is good. I chose it because it is not held by PE, and the doctors should have less pressure for profitability...Tadzia calls and messages me through my chart with very detailed explanation. Every procedure he did was a success, and the only successful first transfer was with a different doctor. So I 100% trust him. In addition, the simulation and egg retrieval was not a pain to me at all, not as what the internet described. My believe is that Dr Schirmer knows when to balance having a good result and minimize the pain it may cause.

[Dr. Jennifer Kawwass] was very attentive and responsive...easy to work with...At one point I thought I was having a complication and she brought me in the next day for an US which comforted me...Do the PGT consent forms in the office with her...
The entire team at Emory treated me with respect and compassion...Appointments always run on time or early...The staff is friendly and the location is clean and relaxed...technicians are wonderful to work with. I felt a little confusion when dealing with the financial team but it was all cleared up
