This is the most recent data from the CDC. The CDC cautions that it should not be used to compare doctors and clinics. This data represents the outcomes of IVF cycles when using a person's own eggs.
For more information please see our FAQs.
Where you see a “?” on the chart, a clinic has done fewer than 20 cycles in this category and age range, so the CDC says showing percentages from this small data set would be misleading and unreliable.
Dr Hatch is very invested in her patients having success...communicates effectively and is open and honest about all outcomes...very positive and uplifting energy...was on lupron to help with endometriosis and to keep me from ovulating during a cycle. follistim or gonal-F was used, menopure, and Omnitrope...prenatals, DHEA, vitamin D, fish oil(DHA). all were used for follicle/egg development
[Fertility Center of Southern California has] Excellent nursing staff. Always friendly and helpful. I enjoyed working with her staff every time i was in the office...only small complaint is that communication would fall short at times...would make things more stressful on my end but that was only minor compared to the overall experience.
How was your experience with Ilene Hatch at Fertility Center of Southern California?
Dr Hatch is very invested in her patients having success. she communicates effectively and is open and honest about all outcomes. She has a very positive and uplifting energy and makes you feel cared for at every stage of ivf journey. she is everything i was looking for in a physician, she is committed, hard working, and honest. After having a terrible experience with our first fertility Dr/clinic, it was refreshing and gave us hope again being under Dr Hatchs care.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Ilene Hatch at Fertility Center of Southern California?
It can be overwhelming at times , trust the process. she is one of the best fertility Drs in orange county, your in great hands.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Ilene Hatch at Fertility Center of Southern California?
Dr Hatch was extremely invested in our success as patients of hers. The communication was good, the staff was friendly, overall a really good experience. Even though we didn't get our expected result.
Describe the protocols Ilene Hatch used in your cycles at Fertility Center of Southern California and their degree of success.
Dr Hatch had me go on DHea for months and also tried different estrogen priming methods to see if it effected follicle growth before starting a stim cycle. she would check me every cycle and we would discuss whether this was the cycle or not based on my follicle count and my fsh number for that month. we waited until the month came where we thought it was our best chance at growing the most follicles and ultimately retrieving the most eggs possible. My body was resistant to some of the medications used during retrieval protocals so i know i was on very high doses of the following. I was on lupron to help with endometriosis and to keep me from ovulating during a cycle. follistim or gonal-F was used, menopure, and Omnitrope. I was taking prenatals, DHEA, vitamin D, fish oil(DHA). all were used for follicle/egg development during the egg retrieval process. she also did estridol priming before i started stiming since my natural estrogen levels were low, which included 3 pills twice daily and 2 estrogen patches. I had a hysteroscopy to remove pollups from my uterus before doing an embryo transfer. the medications used for transfer protocol were estradiol and progesterone, baby aspirin, minivelle patches, dexamethasone, doxycycline, folic acid 2mg twice daily, medrol, and heparin(steroid). the embryo transfer was unsuccessful and i know she had mentioned if there was another transfer she would use the same protocol but would add treatment of endometriosis as well.

Describe your experience with Fertility Center of Southern California.
Speak up and ask questions. These clinics are seeing so many patients so it is imperative to advocate for yourself and make sure your voice and concerns are heard. its easy to feel like your just being shuffled along and your just a number in a sea of women all trying for the same result. Id recommend taking notes and writing down any questions you may have for Dr Hatch or staff at your appointments.
Describe the costs associated with your care under Ilene Hatch at Fertility Center of Southern California.
ivf cycle cost us around 18k and then roughly 10k in medication.
we don't have covered insurance for ivf so every office visit was a copay of 40 dollars. anytime estriodol, vitamin D, or FSh levels were needed we paid out of pocket which would be around 500$ each time. i also did an introlipid infusion which was 275$. we also had to pay for the hysterocopy which had to be done in the surgery center and i believe that was 1800$. the embryo transfer I believe was around 5K and thats not including the two weeks of unpaid leave i had to take from work. I think we probably spent close to 45-50k for all medications and procedures, drs visits during our time with Dr Hatch.

Describe the specific things that went wrong at Fertility Center of Southern California.
some confusion on pharmacy having certain medications needed and being time sensitive.
[Dr. Hatch is] compassionate, genuinely caring, invested and takes time to understand each case, tailors treatment to patient, comprehensive knowledge, up to date on latest research, and aims to produce the best results possible for her patients...We initially tried using estrogen patches but my diminished ovarian reserve was too sensitive to it. For our successful IVF round, we did lower dose of Follistim (150IU) and high dose of Menopur (4 poweder vials).
Overall the [ Fertility Center of Southern Cal] nursing staff is great and responsive, but like any IVF office it is fast paced and patients still need to keep abreast of their own treatment and to follow-up with office staff when needed...Fairly easy to reach a live person at the office which was not always the case at a couple of the other IVF offices I have done retrievals with. The staff are all very friendly and caring. Dr. Hatch personally reviews all patient labs, tests, and ultrasounds (if she is not personally performing the ultrasounds)...

Most of what I appreciate about Dr. Hatch was described in my earlier comment in this survey but here is a quick list: compassionate, genuinely caring, invested and takes time to understand each case, tailors treatment to patient, comprehensive knowledge, up to date on latest research, and aims to produce the best results possible for her patients.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Ilene Hatch at Fertility Center of Southern California?
Patients are in reliable and good hands with Dr. Hatch. Her office wait times are on the longer side sometimes but it is worth it.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Ilene Hatch at Fertility Center of Southern California?
After having a terrible experience with Dr. Anderson in Newport Beach, we were very focused on finding a fertility doctor who genuinely cared about his/her patients and would be invested in the patient's individual circumstances and obstacles. Specifically, a doctor who would tailor the IVF approach and hormones to the patient. Dr. Ilene Hatch is exactly such a doctor!! It was very refreshing to find a doctor who did not treat her practice like an IVF mill and who sincerely wanted to, and was able to, help her patients achieve the best possible IVF results. For me, it was egg retrieval for embryo freezing due to my diminished reserve and inability to carry a child due to a having systemic lupus where I have severe flares that have required chemotherapy rounds in the past.

Dr. Hatch's pricing is very reasonable.
Describe Ilene Hatch's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Fertility Center of Southern California.
Due to my diminished ovarian reserve and age, Dr. Hatch suggested I freeze my embryos on day 3. As such, she said I may want to consider transferring 2 embryos into a surrogate.
Dr. Hatch was very optimistic when we had our first consultation...did not perform all of my appointments or procedures, but even if she was walking by you in the hallway she always would say hello...she never made me feel bad for taking an extra few minutes of her time even though she was always extremely busy...When none of our IUIs worked and we had our IVF consultation, she was genuinely empathetic

How was your experience with Ilene Hatch at Fertility Center of Southern California?
Dr. Hatch was very optimistic when we had our first consultation with her. She is a very confident person and her enthusiasm is infectious. She has great bedside manner but is also very honesty does straightforward. It’s a perfect combo for a reproductive endocrinologist, if you ask me. Dr. Hatch did not perform all of my appointments or procedures, but even if she was walking by you in the hallway she always would say hello so I still saw her frequently. She always answered every single one of my questions (I always came prepared with a list) and she never made me feel bad for taking an extra few minutes of her time even though she was always extremely busy. When none of our IUIs worked and we had our IVF consultation, she was genuinely empathetic and it was beyond comforting to see in her eyes that it pained her that we were still in the unexplained infertility category. I can not recommend Dr. Hatch highly enough and I have high hopes that she will help us successfully conceive via IVF, whenever that time comes.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Ilene Hatch at Fertility Center of Southern California?
Be prepared for long wait times. It’s not always busy but when it is the wait can be long. However, other times I was in and out of the clinic very quickly. It just depends on the day. Come prepared with any questions you may have.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Ilene Hatch at Fertility Center of Southern California?
Dr. Hatch’s office and staff always treat you like a human. I genuinely felt as if they had gotten to know me and cared for me. Whether I was crying in a treatment room or laughing in the blood draw area, I always felt seen and taken care of by Dr. Hatch and her staff. They also take the time to get to know you which is invaluable.
Describe the protocols Ilene Hatch used in your cycles at Fertility Center of Southern California and their degree of success.
Brief background - we had been trying to conceive for over 4.5 years when we first met with Dr. Hatch. She is the only reproductive endocrinologist and fertility specialist we have seen.
Cycle 1:
Our initial consultation with Dr. Hatch was early enough in my cycle that I hadn’t ovulated yet. She suggested we do an unmedicated IUI and I came in daily to track when I was about to ovulate. We had a post coital test which showed zero sperm in cervix and all sperm in the vagina were dead, which we were told indicated hostile cervical mucus. The very next day we had our first IUI but the sperm count from my partner’s sample was zero. Looking back I would not have gone through with the IUI, however, even though I knew it probably wasn’t going to work it helped me to feel like I would be more prepared mentally for my next IUI. This cycle resulted in a negative pregnancy test.
Cycle 2:
Dr. Hatch recommended we start with Letrozole. I took two 2.5 mg pills nightly from cycle day 4 - cycle day 8. Dr. Hatch performed an HSS on my cycle day 12. All was normal. Dr. Hatch confirmed via vaginal ultrasound that I only had one follicle that would be large enough for ovulation. I decided to wait to perform our next IUI when I had more than 1 follicle ready.
Cycle 3:
We were on vacation out of state during the time I was ovulating, so Dr. Hatch recommended that we do an unmonitored letrozole cycle. I took three 2.5 mg pills nightly from cycle day 3 - cycle day 7. I also took mucinex per Dr. Hatch’s recommendation from cycle day 12 - cycle day 17. This cycle resulted in a negative pregnancy test.
Cycle 4:
Dr. Hatch recommended we switch from letrozole to clomid. I took two 50 mg clomid nightly from cycle day 3 - cycle day 7. Dr. Hatch had me start estrogen patches beginning cycle day 11 to help thicken my lining. I switched these out every other day. We had our IUI on cycle day 14. This cycle resulted in a negative pregnancy test.
Cycle 5:
We continued with clomid since I responded the best to this. I took two 50 mg clomid nightly from cycle day 5 - cycle day 9. I started estrogen patches on cycle day 12. Our IUI was on cycle day 17. I had two promising follicles. This cycle resulted in a negative pregnancy test.
Cycle 6:
We knew going into this cycle that it would be our last IUI cycle so i requested we try injectables. I took two 50 mg of clomid nightly from cycle day 3 - cycle day 7. I began follistim injections with 100iu from cycle day 8 - cycle day 10. Dr. Hatch switched my follistim to 75iu from cycle day 11 - cycle day 12. We had a double IUI on cycle day 14 (fresh sample) & 15 (frozen sample). I had around 10 promising follicles and we discussed the risk for multiples and the potential need for a pregnancy reduction if multiples occurred. I began taking progesterone 200mg x1 in the AM and PM starting on cycle day 17. I also took estrogen 1mg x3 AM and PM starting on cycle day 17. This cycle resulted in a negative pregnancy test.

The nursing staff are great and I’m very thankful for them. They are warm and friendly. They usually could make me laugh and always made me feel comfortable.
Describe your experience with Fertility Center of Southern California.
The clinic has a small number of staff which can make the wait times long. However, you get to know each and every person at the clinic and you feel like a person instead of just a number. A downside to having a small clinic (at least in this case) is they don’t offer in-house financing. However, you get a tailored treatment plan made just for you and that is worth a lot.
Describe the costs associated with your care under Ilene Hatch at Fertility Center of Southern California.
Our insurance didn’t cover much due to our infertility diagnosis. Monitoring visits were around $125 each. IUIs were around $350 each. Follistim was about $300 for one pen. Our IVF cost including PGT-A testing is estimated to be between $25,000-$30,000 total.
Dr. Hatch is someone you can hear coming around the corner of the office while waiting in your room. She is laughing and smiling with her staff and she loves what she does for work and it shows...gives you 100% attention...tendency to run late...but when you understand that the reason she is behind is because she is treating ALL her patients with love and care, you become more accepting of it...Currently we are 10 weeks pregnant for the first time and I owe all the success to her willingness to constantly customize my protocol for my body and its' needs.
[Fertility Center of Southern California] is very friendly and well managed...maintain a good level of communication. A weakness would be time management but I think that it is a trickle down effect from Dr. Hatch...when you understand that the reason she is behind is because she is treating ALL her patients with love and care, you become more accepting of it...a couple of times were blood results not passed along or delayed...added stress to an already overwhelmingly stressful situation.
How was your experience with Ilene Hatch at Fertility Center of Southern California?
Dr. Hatch is someone you can hear coming around the corner of the office while waiting in your room. She is laughing and smiling with her staff and she loves what she does for work and it shows. She gives you 100% attention while in the room with you and listens to your specific case and remembers the conversations that take place. She doesn't make you feel like a number at all. We have laughed and cried with her many times and the connection that she allows at her office is something that should be awarded. She has shared her hobbies and has interest in her patients as well and I have never seen her look at the clock while in the room with you or make you feel rushed. That would lead into her fault, time management. She has a tendency to run late and getting early appointments is key but when you understand that the reason she is behind is because she is treating ALL her patients with love and care, you become more accepting of it.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Ilene Hatch at Fertility Center of Southern California?
Get early appointments and prepare to run late that can cause other parts of your day to suffer.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Ilene Hatch at Fertility Center of Southern California?
Dr. Hatch is a very genuine human being and health care provider. She absolutely makes you feel like you're the only person that she is dealing with while in the room with you. She cares about your specific case and difficulties that you have faced through this process and speaks to you as a friend and caring family member while also providing excellent medical care.
Describe the protocols Ilene Hatch used in your cycles at Fertility Center of Southern California and their degree of success.
0.1 mg Vivelle patch (wearing 2 at a time) changed every other day
3mg oral estrogen, 4 times a day
1mL progesterone of Progesterone BID
Balancing my estrogen with my uterine lining thickness has been the key point of my treatment with Dr. Hatch. She has been willing to change from estrogen injections from my previous Dr. to oral and seen a much better response. She has been the first Dr. to "assist" my body and its' natural cycle if you will when all the other Dr's seemed to prescribe a protocol for everyone and force it to work...which it did not. Currently we are 10 weeks pregnant for the first time and I owe all the success to her willingness to constantly customize my protocol for my body and its' needs.
Describe your experience with the nursing staff at Fertility Center of Southern California.
The nursing staff is very friendly and seem to have similar personalities that Dr. Hatch has i.e. happy to be there/smiling/compassionate. Often Dr. Hatch was doing the procedure but when she was not, you felt that you would be taken care of and a good line of communication was established between all staff members.
Describe your experience with Fertility Center of Southern California.
The clinic is very friendly and well managed. Everyone seems to know their specific job and talk freely to each other to maintain a good level of communication. A weakness would be time management but I think that it is a trickle down effect from Dr. Hatch and her time management.
Describe the costs associated with your care under Ilene Hatch at Fertility Center of Southern California.
We had two transfers with Dr. Hatch. The first one was a frozen PGS tested embryo that was retrieved from our previous Dr. After that was unsuccessful, we did a full med cycle for a retrieval and used a fresh embryo transfer from that time to ultimately become pregnant. Many of the costs were spread out with the surgery center, her office visits, embryo lab and the medications. Approximate total of infertility treatment was around $35,000.
Describe Ilene Hatch's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Fertility Center of Southern California.
We did mention that we might be interested in a multiple embryo transfer when we first met with her due to our "late start" and she was hesitant for many reasons that all made sense to us and the overall health of our child and mother was her primary concern. I'm sure she has and will do multiple transfers in the past and future but they would be case by case specific.
What specific things went wrong at Fertility Center of Southern California?
Failed to call with results
Describe the specific things that went wrong at Fertility Center of Southern California.
Only a couple of times were blood results not passed along or delayed. This was important based on the constant changing in medications for my specific protocol. Hindsight is that it did not alter the results and only added stress to an already overwhelmingly stressful situation.
I found Dr. Hatch through 3 unique referrals from different sources that were quite credible and who had experienced successful pregnancies...The only negative I can say is that she can get extremely busy. So I did not see her on every visit and you need to sometimes be proactive in your follow-up with her...She tries to squeeze you in and sometimes, it can mean an extra 1-1.5 hour if you need to see her.
Great supportive staff [at Fertility Center of Southern California], friendly warm environment...Downsides, initial counsel as a new patient can take awhile to get on the calendar...Once you begin, then able to get an appointment relatively quickly. Wait times can be long...need to be patient; there's a reason for the wait. You do not feel like a number and your treatment is unique to your body/chemistry.
How was your experience with Ilene Hatch at Fertility Center of Southern California?
I found Dr. Hatch through 3 unique referrals from different sources that were quite credible and who had experienced successful pregnancies. I appreciate her willingness to listen and answer my numerous questions, for assuaging my worries, and trying to counter my worry-wart/pessimistic nature to instill hope in the process. The only negative I can say is that she can get extremely busy. So I did not see her on every visit and you need to sometimes be proactive in your follow-up with her and the office.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Ilene Hatch at Fertility Center of Southern California?
Take ownership of your treatment, be prepared with your questions, and be proactive with your follow-up. Also, be patient as the wait times can get long. She tries to squeeze you in and sometimes, it can mean an extra 1-1.5 hour if you need to see her.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Ilene Hatch at Fertility Center of Southern California?
Dr. Ilene Hatch has great bedside manner and understands the different patient personalities and the type of information they need to hear. She expressed a lot of empathy when we learned that none of my embryos did not survive.
Describe the protocols Ilene Hatch used in your cycles at Fertility Center of Southern California and their degree of success.
For IUI - Day 2 ultrasound to see how many follicles/potential eggs for the cycle. Starting Day 10, ultrasound + blood test (daily) until notice ovulation, start estrogen patches (Dotti, 0.05 mg/day, ) 1 patch, replace every other day, 1 low dose (81mg) baby aspirin daily. Once see evidence of ovulation, then IUI. Stop patch, start Estradiol 1 mg tablet (2 tablets, twice daily). Week later, blood test to track Estrogen and Progesterone levels. Adjust hormone medication and dosage if necessary. Another week later, blood test for pregnancy.
Describe your experience with the nursing staff at Fertility Center of Southern California.
There aren't really nurses. Aside from Dr. Hatch, I've mostly interacted with a PA, a receptionist, and 2 team staff members that serve as primary phlebotomists.
Describe your experience with Fertility Center of Southern California.
Fertility Center of Southern California is located in Irvine, CA. Great supportive staff, friendly warm environment. I feel lucky to have found it and be a patient. Downsides, initial counsel as a new patient can take awhile to get on the calendar. If you're thinking of potentially going down this route, then schedule it in advance. Once you begin, then able to get an appointment relatively quickly. Wait times can be long as they experience a high volume of patients and the doctor takes a good amount of time with each patient. So need to be patient; there's a reason for the wait. You do not feel like a number and your treatment is unique to your body/chemistry.
Describe the costs associated with your care under Ilene Hatch at Fertility Center of Southern California.
Don't recall. Would say they are not cheap. Think egg freezing was about $15-16K, IUI is about $1K.
Describe Ilene Hatch's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Fertility Center of Southern California.
She recommends single embryo transfer, particularly for women of advanced age.
Dr. Hatch is very caring and easy to talk to. She is extremely knowledgeable and through. She did a very detailed workup of both myself and my husband. Communication and plan set up was wonderful at the initial appt but tended to lack for the few monitoring cycles prior to starting the IVF cycle. We did get a bit frustrated during this waiting period if 3 cycles as we didnt really know what we were waiting for. Once the IVF cycle started I felt that the line of communication opened back up and everyone was on the same page. She tends to run late but otherwise I would highly recommend her.
The clinic [Fertility Center of Southern California] has very accommodating hours, I work full time and had to go in prior to work most days and they were able to schedule 6:30 am appts to accommodate...They [nursing staff] were very friendly and always were happy to see you, the blood draw station was very efficient and they are very good at what they do.

I am not sure of the protocol name but I used Minipur, Cetrotied and Gonal F. These were used to create an increased number of mature follicles and hold ovulation until 36 hours prior to the retrieval time. They were all injections and we were coached on how to do self injections prior to starting.

Describe Ilene Hatch's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Fertility Center of Southern California.
She gave us a choice of doing 1 or 2 embryos at a time and told us the risks of both.
Getting into the initial consultation with Dr. Hatch can take months and there is definitely a wait even once you are in the office for your appointment. While the wait is frustrating it is worth it once you are a patient. She really goes above and beyond to treat both partners...She is always a text away when I have a question, and unlike previous clinics she is the one there for every procedure.
The office [at Fertility Center of Southern California] is always busy, but that doesn’t mean you are ignored or missed. There is at times a long wait that needs to be planned for, you could wait over 20 minutes to go back...The staff is always smiling and compassionate no matter how early in the morning it is (630 am is the earliest appointment)...The billing coordinator is quite helpful and so is the person who works with insurance for preapproval.

Dr. Hatch and her staff do more than remember the details of your treatment, they remember the things about your personal life that matter. There is no rush, she will explain as many times as needed and never makes you feel like it was a stupid question.
Describe the protocols Ilene Hatch used in your cycles at Fertility Center of Southern California and their degree of success.
My stim protocol consisted of folistim and menopur for 11 days and there were a lot of eggs (just under 40). I did hyperstim, but was treated with cabergolem. Out of the 19 embryos only 4 were genetic normal and we transferred 1 each transfer.
First transfer I was on progesterone, estrace, vivelle dot patches, and low dose aspirin. We did 6 days of progesterone and transferred a single embryo. I had a miscarriage at 5 weeks.
Second transfer I was put on doxycycline, heparin, low dose aspirin, progesterone, estrace, vivelle dot patches, antioxidants, prednisone and vitamin d. We transferred a single embryo and am currently 5 weeks pregnant.
Describe your experience with the nursing staff at Fertility Center of Southern California.
The staff is always smiling and compassionate no matter how early in the morning it is (630 am is the earliest appointment). The blood draws are quick and low pain, and they are even patient with a squeamish partner who is deathly afraid of needles.

Describe the costs associated with your care under Ilene Hatch at Fertility Center of Southern California.
I went through insurance which covered all expenses after $1500 out of pocket. Unlike other clinics Dr. Hatch courtesy bills insurance even for out of network and only requires you cover your portion instead of trying to get reimbursed from insurance.
Dr. Hatch is the most thorough and detailed fertility dr I have seen. She is kind, caring and made me feel very comfortable. She asked hard questions kindly, and is patient with emotions that come up...I went to Dr. Hatch for a donor egg cycle. She still took time to look over my personal medical history, and also did an exam to have the full scope of understanding my decision. She was very supportive and encouraging of me, and also offered her professional opinion without being pushy. I didn’t wind up going through with that donor cycle due to other life circumstances, but I will be going back to Dr. Hatch when I begin treatments again.
tends to be a pretty long wait before your appointment [at Fertility Center of Southern California]. I have experienced, though, that this is due to the fact that the staff, including Dr. Hatch, don’t rush patients out the door. They take time to really listen to all of your questions and concerns, even if that means they run a little behind. I appreciate that same care, so I don’t think it is something much to complain about, just to expect it to take a little longer than you would initially...The nursing staff was all very kind and helpful. They were happy to answer any and all questions, and go out of their way to help you feel at ease.

Dr. Hatch took an extensive amount of time to talk to me, and go over my medical history. She looked over my previous medicated cycles, and asked me if I had any questions in regards to the outcome. She explained in more detail than my previous doctor (who oversaw the cycles) why they were unsuccessful. She was kind, caring, and eased all of my worries. She gave me her direct contact information so I could reach her directly with any questions that come up. I felt seen, heard and cared for in her office.
Describe the protocols Ilene Hatch used in your cycles at Fertility Center of Southern California and their degree of success.
I went to Dr.
Describe your experience with the nursing staff at Fertility Center of Southern California.
The nursing staff was all very kind and helpful. They were happy to answer any and all questions, and go out of their way to help you feel at ease.
Describe your experience with Fertility Center of Southern California.
The only weakness I can think of is that Terr tends to be a pretty long wait before your appointment. I have experienced, though, that this is due to the fact that the staff, including Dr. Hatch, don’t rush patients out the door. They take time to really listen to all of your questions and concerns, even if that means they run a little behind. I appreciate that same care, so I don’t think it is something much to complain about, just to expect it to take a little longer than you would initially.
Dr. Hatch is pretty gentle and she seems like she is on your side and that she is here to help me in any way she can. ... She seem to treat evert individual differently. ... Due to those results, Dr. Hatch has put me in a diet plan and suggested that I get my A1C below 5.7. ... She is not always on time, that's the con but I understand that she is a very busy doctor. Her treatment center is aboitb10 to 15 minutes away from her actual office so she will have to travel for her appointments.
All staff [Fertility Center of So Cal] are nice. I just think some times they get overwhelmed so they don't talk too much but they try their best. ... The girls that draw your blood isn't great. If you have veins that are hard to find, you will need to let them know. ... Tasha is the main front desk person and she is knowledgeable. She is only there Monday through Friday. ... Very expensive. 2 rounds of IVF plus doctor visit cost over 50k with meds. ... Personally, one at a time approach will be my approach because I don't want to waste my embyos.

Dr. Hatch is pretty gentle and she seems like she is on your side and that she is here to help me in any way she can. Although, I don't see her at every appointment, she is aware of my situation. She will call and give me update when after lab work. She conducted all my procedures thus far. She is not always on time, that's the con but I understand that she is a very busy doctor. Her treatment center is aboitb10 to 15 minutes away from her actual office so she will have to travel for her appointments.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Ilene Hatch at Fertility Center of Southern California?
Have lots of patience and gice yourself at least 2 hours when you go to your appointment. The girls that draw your blood isn't great. If you have veins that are hard to find, you will need to let them know.

Dr. Hatch seemed to really care about me. She seem to treat evert individual differently. When I was at Kaiser, it seemed to be by the book and I believe that each patient is different. We are all unique.
Describe the protocols Ilene Hatch used in your cycles at Fertility Center of Southern California and their degree of success.
She tried a few treatments on me. Monitoring cycle with intercourse, a mucus test to see if the sperm get through the mucus walls, first IVF cycle resulted in one normal embryo that is currently frozen, the second IVF cycle resulted in 2 mosaic embryos that are currently frozen. Due to those results, Dr. Hatch has put me in a diet plan and suggested that I get my A1C below 5.7. Then we will try another retrieval again. Praying for 2 more normal embryos so we can transfer them.

How was your experience with Ilene Hatch at Fertility Center of Southern California?
Initially Dr. Hatch seemed wonderful, she claimed we had an 80% chance of pregnancy with IVF which we desperately wanted believe even though everything I read said a woman my age, 38, was in the less than 20% range. Our close friends went to Dr. Hatch and successfully conceived both of their children so we believed in her. However my friend and I have very different circumstance. I have Endometriosis, and have had surgery for that, and have also had two ectopic pregnancies which thankfully were both treatable with methotrexate. As our treatments progressed it was undeniable we were just a number in that office, the long waits, the confussion on where we were in the process, the missing appointments on the books. But we kept going because the natural desire to reproduce convinced my husband and me we were doing the right thing. Their appointment schedule is booked so full I had to plan for at least an hour wait for every appointment, one time I actually waited over three hours. I watched an entire movie in the waiting room. I left their office crying a few times because all of the hormones induced ongoing, almost daily, ocular migraines which they had no answer for. When I'd bring them up Dr. Hatch would tell me that migraines aren't normal and I need to see a neurologist. I could go on, and on but I think you get the point. We were informed on 11/10/18 that our transfer failed (via Andrea, Dr. Hatch's PA) and it's now 01/10/19 and I'm still getting terrible migraines several times a week. I have no idea when my body is going to go back to normal because if your transfer fails they really don't care what happens to you...they just want you to come back on day two so they can pitch you to do another round of IVF and to drop another $20k+. This is a racket. It's SO unethical in my opinion to even imply this is a medical facility.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Ilene Hatch at Fertility Center of Southern California?
If you are really determined to do IVF....go somewhere else. If you're a female, over 35, with Endometriosis and a history of ectopic pregnancy read about your the scientific percentage of success.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Ilene Hatch at Fertility Center of Southern California?
It's common practice to wait at least 45 minutes, often longer, to be seen by Dr. Hatch's PA. The PA usually had to ask where I was in my cycle and/or it would be totally unclear what I was supposed to do at some of the appointments, e.g. just blood work or blood work / ultrasound. I received two, that I recall from memory, incorrect bills that were hundreds of dollars more than they should have been. The final blow, after being told repeatedly by Dr. Hatch that we had an 80% chance of pregnancy- which I knew was inaccurate but desperately wanted to believe, was to receive the negative pregnancy call from a PA with no follow up call from Dr. Hatch. She did call after I sent a letter stating "do not contact me again" with our final payment. Our final payment accompanied an inaccurate bill, erroneously stating we owed $610 more than we actually did. This office is a disaster. I've contemplating reporting them to the medical board but I don't want any further contact...I just want to put this behind us.
Describe the protocols Ilene Hatch used in your cycles at Fertility Center of Southern California and their degree of success.
There were numerous Ultrasound / Bloodwork appointments before, during, and after STIM. I didn't keep completely accurate records of those so I haven't listed them.

Describe your experience with the nursing staff at Fertility Center of Southern California.
I saw Andrea, Dr. Hatch's PA, frequently and she seemed more compassionate about the process than Dr. Hatch. The Phlebotomists were also pretty friendly and would answer questions I had after a confusing appointment. A few times I found myself standing in the hall after being hurried out of an exam room not sure if the appointment was over an the Phlembotomist would go confirm it was. I think the work load at this office is unmanageable, so any short comings of the staff I would attribute to Dr. Hatch's poor management of time.
Describe your experience with Fertility Center of Southern California.
The consultation, where Dr. Hatch and staff, initially explained the reproductive medical assistance was excellent. She spent over an hour going over everything with us. It was like drinking from a fire hose. I did like Dr. Hatch's personality when there were no issues, she was very cheery and has a contagious laugh. Their weaknesses are basically everything else, scheduling, "medical" treatment, explaining the process in a clear and decisive way, billing, empathy.
Describe the costs associated with your care under Ilene Hatch at Fertility Center of Southern California.
In total Dr. Hatch was paid $8,900 including a cash payment of $6,500 and an additional $2,400 from my insurance. This does not include blood work, genetic testing, or anything other than office time.
Describe Ilene Hatch's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Fertility Center of Southern California.
We only had one embryo.
What specific things went wrong at Fertility Center of Southern California?
Dr. Hatch does not batch cycle and pays very close attention to your cycle so she can create a unique protocol to get the best results. She would personally call me, sometimes as late as 8pm, to give me my stim med dosage or the results of a test. She has come in to see me on her days off and would have done my egg retrieval on a Sunday if necessary.... Dr. Hatch asks me personal questions and remembers little details about my life I tell her. She has gone through ART and understands the stress of this process from a personal level.
The clinic [Fertility Ctr of SoCal] does a good job communicating with eachother but I don't know what they communication pathway is so I don't always know who to contact for what. I'm learning that emailing the nurses is better than calling the front desk and leaving a message. To me, the clinic always looks disorganized but I'm always pleasantly surprised that things don't fall through the crack and they are generally on top of things.
How was your experience with Ilene Hatch at Fertility Center of Southern California?
Dr. Hatch is a passionate and compassionate person and a darn good doctor. She investigated every aspect of my history and developed a unique treatment plan for me. She is approachable so I feel confident asking questions. I once raised a concern about something and she sat down with me and went over all the details I needed to understand the issue. Sometimes she has so many balls in the air she will make assumptions about what my question is so I have to be sure to advocate for myself if she missed my question. I truly believe that Dr. Hatch is part of my baby making team and I know that she will humbly point me in the direction of someone else if she cannot help me.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Ilene Hatch at Fertility Center of Southern California?
Make an appt a few months before you actually want to see her. It took my 4 months to get an appt. Be prepared to wait 1 hr to see her. She is worth it and will give you all the attention you need.

Describe the protocols Ilene Hatch used in your cycles at Fertility Center of Southern California and their degree of success.
IVF with her "kitchen sink protocol" which includes steroids, blood thinners, antibiotics, and extra folic acid. Mock cycle with hysteroscopy followed by FET.
Describe your experience with the nursing staff at Fertility Center of Southern California.
The nurses are great and do their best to answer my questions. If they are busy or overwhelmed, they never ever show it. They do not appear to pass work off on eachother and any will stop what they are doing to answer my question.

Describe the costs associated with your care under Ilene Hatch at Fertility Center of Southern California.
Insurance covers most of my services. The office was great at getting me cash rates for non covered services or getting pre-auth for necessary procedures. The billing dept does take a long time to actually send a claim to my insurance company.
Describe Ilene Hatch's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Fertility Center of Southern California.
single embryo transfer due to my age and being high risk of miscarriage

Describe the specific things that went wrong at Fertility Center of Southern California.
I didn't receive a call about the results of my hysteroscopy for a few days after the procedure.
I am still under the care of Dr. Hatch and I have been so pleased with her care. At my first consultation she spent so much time with me, didn’t feel rushed, and answered ALL of my questions. I also felt a great connection with her as she was diagnosed with the same condition as me. Premature Ovarian Failure. She is realistic, but not harsh. All of the ladies that work there have also been lovely and I feel like I am finally at the right place.
The ONLY complaint I have is the wait time [Fertility Ctr of SoCal] can be a little long sometimes. Other than that, everything has been a breeze. They have coffee in the waiting room and I’m usually in and out of there in an hour or less from start to finish.... Everyone at the office I have come in contact with has been so sweet. Other offices I’ve been too, I’ve always felt like just another number or money bag. Here, I feel like they all really care and want to help each and every patient.
How was your experience with Ilene Hatch at Fertility Center of Southern California?
Dr. Hatch spends so much time with her patients. Which may be why it takes a little longer in the waiting room, but it’s never been TOO bad. I never feel rushed when talking to her and she always makes a point to call me in the evening the same day of my appointment with my blood results.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Ilene Hatch at Fertility Center of Southern California?
Get a consultation ASAP because her office books out far in advance.

Because my condition is pretty rare and I do not respond well to fertility meds, my protocol is a little different. I am essentially going through premature menopause at 26 and will spontaneously ovulate. So Dr. Hatch likes to see me every couple weeks to see if I’m possibly growing a follicle to catch it before I ovulate.

So far I’ve only had to pay for ultra sounds and blood work which is only around $300 per visit.
Dr. Hatch cares a lot about her patients and she takes the time to talk to you about all your concerns without making you feel rushed....She isn't always the person who sees you on every visit but she is there for the ones that matter.... She gave me injections of progesterone and estrogen during my luteal phase because I was diagnosed with a luteal phase defecit when I first tried to get pregnant. The very first month she gave me these drugs I became pregnant!!
Strengths- the clinic [Fert Ctr of So Cal] is open 7 days a week to accommodate for all female cycles. They make sure to get back to you the same day when you have a STAT lab test even if not until later in the evening. I love knowing that they won't keep me hanging. Weakness is that you can often be waiting a very long time (up to an hour or more) past your scheduled time. While this can be difficult to manage, I feel Dr. Hatch and her team are well worth the wait.

She truly wants to help people get pregnant and that's what matters to her. She isn't always the person who sees you on every visit but she is there for the ones that matter. What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Ilene Hatch at Fertility Center of Southern California?
Call ASAP! She is so popular that she sometimes has a waiting list for about 3 mos just to get in for a consult!
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Ilene Hatch at Fertility Center of Southern California?
I went to a different doctor first for a consult and she was horrible. It was clear that I was just a number so when I found Dr. Hatch she was a breath of fresh air! Her heart is really still in this after so many years of practice... it's apparent all she really cares about is helping people make babies! MORE than the money. I can tell from multiples comments she's made that it's not about the money to her. She is very warm and caring and she never makes you feel rushed and takes the time to talk to you and hear your concerns. She connects with you on a level that just doesn't exist much these days with doctors.

She gave me injections of progesterone and estrogen during my luteal phase because I was diagnosed with a luteal phase defecit when I first tried to get pregnant. The very first month she gave me these drugs I became pregnant!! But my second attempt at pregnancy has not been responsive to these drugs. I had a horrible post c-section infection and she thinks maybe there is damage from that to the fallopian tubes. She thinks IVF is our only option now.
Describe your experience with your nurse at Fertility Center of Southern California. (Assigned nurse: Andrea)
All of the staff there is completely knowledgeable and so good at communicating. They let me explain my concerns and most of the time they can give me answers that they know are what Dr. Hatch would say. If there is ever a situation where they think they need to discuss with her, they do so promptly and get back to me with a quick response.

Describe the costs associated with your care under Ilene Hatch at Fertility Center of Southern California.
I didn't have insurance coverage so she gave me a discount on consults and ultrasounds and labs. At one point, while seeing her, she actually lowered her ultrasound cost for cash patients by $50. So sweet!
Describe Ilene Hatch's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Fertility Center of Southern California.
She completely supports and and claims that there is no better chance with multiples which makes me happy because I absolutely do not want twins!
From the moment we met dr hatch she treated us like family...Dr hatch was the only doctor who agreed to do a Laparoscopy on me to try to find the issue....doctor hatch listened to my concerns and did what she thought was best for me as a patient and friend. Every time we see dr hatch she is very welcoming and compassionate and make you feel like your one of her own kids. We are currently trying to save enough to undergo ivf treatment with doctor hatch
The nursing staff is great. They [Fert Ctr of S CA] show compassion and are well organized. They try to help you with the cost and work out plans that fit you specifically. My nurse stays in contact with me frequently and answers all my questions with love and understanding but also tells me the truth and doesn't sugar cost things...e only downfall of the clinic is the time it takes in the waiting room to be seen...staff take time to speak with you on a personal level.
How was your experience with Ilene Hatch at Fertility Center of Southern California?
From the moment we met dr hatch she treated us like family. We were exhausted from trying to get pregnant with other doctors and not having a reason for my infertility. Dr hatch was the only doctor who agreed to do a Laparoscopy on me to try to find the issue. All other doctors denied the option because they said I was so young that it was a 90 percent chance they would find an issue. But doctor hatch listened to my concerns and did what she thought was best for me as a patient and friend. Every time we see dr hatch she is very welcoming and compassionate and make you feel like your one of her own kids. We are currently trying to save enough to undergo ivf treatment with doctor hatch
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Ilene Hatch at Fertility Center of Southern California?
The clinic sometime takes a while to be seen but don't let that discourage you. The reason the wait can be a while is because she is treating each patient as a person not a number and she makes time to answer questions with you and be there for you.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Ilene Hatch at Fertility Center of Southern California?
So far we have been happy with our doctor. She preformed laparoscopy on me to diagnos my reason for infertility and we are currently in the process to move forward with ivf. She had amazing bedside manner and make you feel like part of her family throughout the whole treatment
Describe the protocols Ilene Hatch used in your cycles at Fertility Center of Southern California and their degree of success.
From the beginning we knew we didn't want to try another round of IUI with dr hatch cause our treatments before with other doctors were unsuccessful. We went into dr hatches office to figure out the reason of my infertility and we did just that. So far we have undergone laparoscopy to diagnose the problem and are currently preparing for ivf cycle 1.

The only downfall of the clinic is the time it takes in the waiting room to be seen. But the wait is worth it because dr hatch and her staff take time to speak with you on a personal level. I recommend bringing a book to read in the waiting room so you don't sit and stare at the clock. Trust me the long wait is worth it. Dr hatch takes extra time with each patient.
Describe the costs associated with your care under Ilene Hatch at Fertility Center of Southern California.
We paid about 500 total for office visits and blood work since we've been seen. Our laparoscopy was covered some under insurance so we payed only 200$ our ivf treatment is set to cost 10,045 plus about 7 k for the medications.
Describe Ilene Hatch's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Fertility Center of Southern California.
She has given us the option to do two embryos if we would like but has informed us of the possibility of multiples.
Dr. Hatch and her staff took the time to explain every detail and spoke to my husband and I with a lot of compassion. Dr. Hatch was also easily reachable via answering service...she opened our minds and hearts to using an egg donor...he saw me each visit and was always honest but at the same time had so much compassion for what we were going through emotionally... She is patient, always smiles and her laugh is infectious.
The clinic [Fert Ctr of So Cal] is extremely busy so the wait time can be excessive, so make sure you allow time in your day for the appointment. The clinic is clean, but the waiting room can get extremely packed so the seating is limited...Andrea and every nurse I saw was extremely patient and always followed up on my questions in a timely manner. They were also very easy to get a hold of...Each visit was approx $500 which included ultra sound and blood work.
How was your experience with Ilene Hatch at Fertility Center of Southern California?
Dr. Hatch was the second fertility doctor my husband and I went to. We initially saw another fertility doctor who treated us like a number. A friend referred me to Dr. Hatch and unlike our last experience with fertility, she took ample time to sit with us, look us in the eyes and explain in black and white what our chances were of conceiving using my own eggs. She also oversaw a natural pregnancy of mine which unfortunately ended in a miscarriage. Throughout that painful process, she saw me each visit and was always honest but at the same time had so much compassion for what we were going through emotionally. It is because of her that my husband and I continue on the fertility journey and are now looking into donor eggs. She is patient, always smiles and her laugh is infectious.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Ilene Hatch at Fertility Center of Southern California?
One piece of advice I would give to a patient seeing any fertility doctor is to do research prior to walking into a fertility clinic. the process is so overwhelming that it's best to really understand the long road ahead. This will only help the doctor in treating you.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Ilene Hatch at Fertility Center of Southern California?
Dr. Hatch and her staff took the time to explain every detail and spoke to my husband and I with a lot of compassion. Dr. Hatch was also easily reachable via answering service. Because of her, we have not lost hope and she opened our minds and hearts to using an egg donor. We are currently looking for a donor with the guidance and help of Dr Hatch's team.
Describe the protocols Ilene Hatch used in your cycles at Fertility Center of Southern California and their degree of success.
Dr. Hatch saw me on day two of each cycle to access whether or not I had enough eggs to move forward with IVF. She had all my records from my previous cycle with our first fertility doctor. Unfortunately my second IVF cycle was cancelled in the middle due to poor response. She suggested that we cancel as she did not think the outcome would a good one and to not continue to waste money on this cycle. I do not remember the amount of medication I took during the cycle.

Describe Ilene Hatch's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Fertility Center of Southern California.
I was informed that Dr. Hatch prefers to do a single transfer unless we are prepared and ok with having multiples.
She’s [Dr. Hatch] so knowledgeable and yet so kind and genuinely interested in seeing her patients get pregnant. I always knew what she was thinking as far as my treatment was concerned and she made every step of the process easy to understand....Knowledgeable, highly skilled, abreast of current research and data.... I had a previous blocked tube with hydrosalpinx and thus only 1 “healthy” tube. Dr. Hatch evaluated everything about my fertility and hubby’s and found us to be very fertile except my 1 tube and we suspected some blockage. We did an HSG to clear it and 1 round of Clomid and IUI.
The only major negative is the waiting. Sometimes you wait in the waiting room for 20 mins or longer. But they [Fert Ctr of So Cal] have WiFi and coffee and tea and it’s never been a concern. Most times we wait less than 10 minutes to be taken into the back. They are well organized and always know who you are and what’s going on.... Everyone seems really knowledgeable and all seem to be well versed on each patient’s treatment course.
How was your experience with Ilene Hatch at Fertility Center of Southern California?
Knowledgeable, highly skilled, abreast of current research and data. No nonsense and yet somehow balances that with being genuinely kind and invested. I never felt like a number to her. I think it’s clear she wants This to happen for us. I honestly don’t have a negative for her specifically.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Ilene Hatch at Fertility Center of Southern California?
Be prepared to wait in the office but part of that is because once you meet with her, she takes her time and genuinely listens to you and wants to hear everything about you. Plus she is really thorough and covers everything with you. You feel valued.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Ilene Hatch at Fertility Center of Southern California?

Dr. Hatch evaluated everything about my fertility and hubby’s and found us to be very fertile except my 1 tube and we suspected some blockage. We did an HSG to clear it and 1 round of Clomid and IUI. Negative. Next cycle we did Clomid and 2 IUI’s and I ovulated 2 eggs (no hormones for me at all either cycle). Pregnant with twins! Both, however, were stuck in my bum tube. Twin ectopic pregnancies. Methotrexate to treat was unsuccessful. Surgery to remove my only tube. Dr. Hatch was devastated on my behalf because the surgery rendered me sterile, except for IVF. So, that’s where we are. Praying for money to come in (hence my filling this out) hoping to start IVF in April so we can have our rainbow.
Describe your experience with the nursing staff at Fertility Center of Southern California.
They all seem kind and considerate too. Some a bit more “business” than Dr. Hatch but I suppose that’s good balance. Everyone seems really knowledgeable and all seem to be well versed on each patient’s treatment course.

Describe the costs associated with your care under Ilene Hatch at Fertility Center of Southern California.
We have 0 insurance compensation but I believe the initial visit was $150. Each ultrasound is $125. Clomid was $50. IUI was $280 I think? I’m not 100% sure on these numbers.
Describe Ilene Hatch's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Fertility Center of Southern California.
I would be sitting in the waiting room and hear her [Dr. Hatch] laugh and knew it would be a good appointment. Her laugh makes me smile. I left every conversation with her feeling confident in her and her staff, that we were making the right decision in treatment for me and my husband. Even when a conversation was difficult she would put it in a way that was understandable, and she always had faith (even when I didn’t) that we would one day have a baby.
This clinics staff [Fertility Ctr of SoCal- Irvine] is beyond amazing. I feel like they truely cared and asked how treatment was going, how I was doing etc. everyone there is very friendly and genuine. Dr hatch is a well sought out doctor so at times there will be a wait, she wants to help as many people as she can so it is not the clinics fault when there is a wait or they have to move your appointment around. So try to go in knowing that they are just doing their best to help everyone.

What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Ilene Hatch at Fertility Center of Southern California?
Some treatments don’t work, everyone’s body is different so my biggest advice is to not give up. Take a break if you need to, but never give up. Keep doing what Dr hatch and her staff recommend and she will get you there!
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Ilene Hatch at Fertility Center of Southern California?
As I was seen and the office staff got to know me, they all felt like family. I loved every single person I met while seeing dr hatch.

Describe Ilene Hatch's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Fertility Center of Southern California.
She told me that unless we for sure wanted multiples to only transfer one embryo. So that is what we did, just one and it stuck!
The waiting room is full all the time, the wait is long and that’s because she takes her time with every patient. The wait time can be frustrating but she means well. She personally calls each patient with lab results and further instructions. She believed she could get me pregnant, and she told us give her one year, do everything she says to do... Dr Hatch and her all women team run a practice, they treat everyone like a family member.
Only thing I can say is be prepared to wait. It’s all worth it. There’s always someone [at Fert Ctr of So Cal] available to help you. If you leave a message you’ll get a call back. If you page someone they’ll call you back. They are skilled at drawing blood, I have crappy veins and they never missed....There were a few times I wasn’t called with lab results. I would then have the doctor paged and she would call me back.

As a premature ovarian insufficiency patient no protocol worked for me, we tried clomid, femara and injectables but tracking ovulation on a natural cycle and doing 2 IUI’s 24 hours apart is what worked.

There were a few times I wasn’t called with lab results. I would then have the doctor paged and she would call me back.
Dr. Hatch has an incredible bedside manner. Our consultation appointment was wonderful - she sat with us for an hour and chatted with us as human beings before getting into what our potential options might be. She was very warm and understanding, and I felt very comfortable with her...I would bear in mind that depending on your situation, you may not see Dr. Hatch often or at all. During my IUI cycles, I had two IUIs that happened to fall on a weekend, of which Dr. Hatch only works one Saturday a month. Also almost all of my monitoring appointments were performed by PAs.
Currently I have gone through three cycles of IUI [at Fertility Center of Southern California]. I felt sometimes that as an IUI patient, I got lost in the shuffle. In all of my 20+ monitoring appointments over the last three months, I have only seen Dr. Hatch three times. 3 out of my 4 IUIs (I did two back to back this last cycle) were performed by her PAs. Also many of my treatment decisions were made by PAs...I did sometimes receive conflicting information from one PA to the next; it seemed like my record wasn't as extensive as it should have been after I had been seen. For example, I had one PA tell me to come in a particular day, and I was called the next day by other PA to tell me I shouldn't be coming in that day, and she didn't even know I had spoken with the other PA the day before. I also was called three times over the course of a month by different nurses to share with me results from my infectious diseases test. It seems like no one is making a record when they share results or information with patients.

I did one round of IUI on 50 mg clomid. My lining was a bit thin so we switched to letrozole the next cycle, and then a higher dose of letrozole for my third cycle. I have yet to become pregnant and we will be moving on to IVF in the coming months.

Describe the costs associated with your care under Ilene Hatch at Fertility Center of Southern California.
Medications were $25-50 for my medicated IUI cycles. Each IUI was $285, any monitoring ultrasound directly related to the procedure was $125, and a blood draw for monitoring was $175. Other things were billed to insurance, like the CD2 bloodwork and beta test. Total for each IUI cycle we spent between $600-1200.

I picked the right office for me I believe. I wasn’t holding out much hope given my age, and Dr Hatch was able to create the right protocol to get many PGS tested normal embryos on the first try. I appreciate that she gave of her time and I felt that she listened to me. She would remember what we discussed from previous meetings and clearly, had a very extensive knowledge of her field. I appreciate her warmth and candor and think it’s rare when you find a doctor who has both.
I think most imrpotantly, this is a office [Fertiliy Center of Southern CA- Irvine] you won’t be treated like a number nor feel like your protocol is McDonlaized. That was important to me to be seen as a human. And even better, I have had great results with this clinic, even though I was terrified of the process, like I am sure many of us are.... The nurses here are all very smart and I feel like they are rooting for me to succeed. They made themselves available after hours for questions and help. I appreciate all that they juggle and keep up on.

Make sure you budget enough time for the waiting room as there can be long waits but know that you’re waiting for a great doctor.

The office staff remembered my name and story after a couple visits. Dr. Hatch, even through she is a popular doctor, would remember details about my case and life.

Again, she is very nice and warm and personable. She overbooks so you wait forever which is really annoying. She diagnosed me right and we did one IUI cycle and got pregnant. She watched me closely through the cycle but then she was out of town the weekend of my IUI so her PA did it. I ended up with 3 fertilized eggs, after which one of them split, so it was a bit of a nightmare at first.
They did care and the staff was very nice. The main issue I had with Dr. Hatch was that she really does heavily overbook. You will wait in her office waiting room and exam room for hours sometimes. For a person with a normal job this becomes very difficult. Especially when you are at a point where you need to go a few times a week for blood draws and such.

Dr. Hatch takes her time with each patient. I felt cared for and hopeful after the consultation alone.
