This is the most recent data from the CDC. The CDC cautions that it should not be used to compare doctors and clinics. This data represents the outcomes of IVF cycles when using a person's own eggs.
For more information please see our FAQs.
Where you see a “?” on the chart, a clinic has done fewer than 20 cycles in this category and age range, so the CDC says showing percentages from this small data set would be misleading and unreliable.
I only saw Dr Gago at my original consultation and my mom-IUI procedures (sonohysterogram and polypectomy). ... We are using donor sperm for IUI as I do not have a partner. We are doing medicated IUI because of my PCOS and irregular cycles. We even switched to hybrid medicated IUI due to the first two being unsuccessful.... You don’t see Dr Gago often, but her staff is extremely capable and knowledgeable.
They [Gago Center for Fertility] are very understanding of differing family types, never making me feel uncomfortable being a SMC. You don’t see Dr Gago often, but her staff is extremely capable and knowledgeable. Everyone is very nice and willing to work with insurances too.... The office staff were very knowledgeable and kind. I am happy knowing the staff is so capable. I understand I don’t have to see the doctor for every thing so I appreciate the ease at getting my questions answered by the office staff, rather than waiting for doctor availability.

Describe Laura April Gago's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Gago Center for Fertility.
I always felt like a human with Dr. Gago...was very compassionate and understanding. I stayed with the clinic because I loved her as a doctor. She was able to be blunt, informative while still umderstanding how difficult this journey is...She recommended an ERA first before a transfer due to my PCOS. My results showed I needed 30 more hours of progesterone which pushed my transfer back by a day. Those results are the reason why my first transfer resulted in a successful pregnancy.
I only have 1 working ovary and had 25 eggs retrieved [at Gago Center for Fertility]. 17 were mature, 14 fertilized, and 6 made it to blastocytes. We did PGS testing and sent out 6 embryos to be tested...While Jenny was the nurse in charge, I did not always get to communicate with her. Jenny was a great nurse, but the other nurses I had issues with. They would contradict what I had been previously told or forget to schedule a test that was needed.

Dr. Gago was very compassionate and understanding. I stayed with the clinic because I loved her as a doctor. She was able to be blunt, informative while still umderstanding how difficult this journey is. Dr. Gago had another physician there when I began IVF and he was the one that was the doctor on my case. He wrote up the protocol, and did the egg retrieval. However, there had been a breakdown in communication of what happens after the retrieval. Dr
Gago got involved to help settle things, and ended up taking over my case. She recommended an ERA first before a transfer due to my PCOS. My results showed I needed 30 more hours of progesterone which pushed my transfer back by a day. Those results are the reason why my first transfer resulted in a successful pregnancy.

During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Laura April Gago at Gago Center for Fertility?
It depwnded on the staff member on whether I felt like a number or a human. I always felt like a human with Dr. Gago, Jenny (nurse), and Erin. With the IVF nurse I felt like a number, as well as with members of the front office staff.
Describe the protocols Laura April Gago used in your cycles at Gago Center for Fertility and their degree of success.
At first I was on birth control for 2 months prior to starting the IVF meds to reset my hormones. I took 300 units of Gonal F, and 150 units of Menopur to mature the eggs nightly over 11 days. I was Ultrasound every 2-3 days to check growth. I was also taking 500mg of Metformin ER daily to help combat my PCOS symptoms. I was given cetrotide for 2 nights before triggering. I triggered over 2 nights. First night was with Ovidril and lupron, and second night with lupron. I was given valium and motrin prior to the retrieval to relax the uterine muscle, help with pain, and inflammation. I was also on 2mg of estradiol but cannot remember when I took it during the stimming. I only have 1 working ovary and had 25 eggs retrieved. 17 were mature, 14 fertilized, and 6 made it to blastocytes. We did PGS testing and sent out 6 embryos to be tested. 2 came back normal and both were boys. The month prior to the transfer we did the ERA test which showed I needed 30 more hours of PIO to be receptive. My transfer date was pushed back a day. To prep the transfer I took estradial 2mg, and injected lupron daily. 6 days to transfer I stopped the lupron, and began PIO injections. My first transfer was successful.

While Jenny was the nurse in charge, I did not always get to communicate with her. Jenny was a great nurse, but the other nurses I had issues with. They would contradict what I had been previously told or forget to schedule a test that was needed.
Describe your experience with Gago Center for Fertility.
Their strength is Dr. Gago, Jenny, and a couple other staff members. Their weaknesses are being pricier than other clinics, communication, and organization. I found that they are one of the most expensive clinics. While they do have multiple cycle options, they do not have a reduced rate for uninsured treatments, and no payment plans. Everything has to be paid in full and up front before they will send the meds out to the pharmacy.
Describe the costs associated with your care under Laura April Gago at Gago Center for Fertility.
Dr. Gago uses Univfy to help predict your success rate per cycle. Depending on your rating you would be offered different programs. To get qualified for the refund program you have to have a success rate of 65% or higher for the first cycle. Our rate was 64%, but due to the issues we had she manually approved us for the refund program. The refund program costs $29,500 and you get 3 retrieval cycles with unlimited frozen transfers. With the 2nd and 3rd retrieval you had to pay $500 for anesthesia. All ultrasounds, blood work, icsi, semen analysis with wash included. If you have a successful pregnancy past 10 weeks of gestation you were refunded $5,000. However you no longer have the option of a 2nd and 3rd retrieval. If you went through all 3 cycle retrievals, and transferred all frozon embryos with no successful pregnancy in 2 years, you would be refunded 50% of $29,000. We also did PGS testing out of pocket through Coopergenomics which cost us $2,050, and did ERA out of pocket for $800. The $29,500 had to be paid up front and in full before they sent out your medications to the pharmacy.
Describe Laura April Gago's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Gago Center for Fertility.
Dr. Gago will only transfer 1 embryo at a time if you are under 35. Also we only had 2 embryo's, and were high graded embryo's. She did not want to risk multiples.

Describe the specific things that went wrong at Gago Center for Fertility.
There was a major miscommunication between staff members, and then with myself. I was given contradictory information after retrieval, not called back, and prescription not sent in. I also did not have my mock transfer/hysteracopy scheduled after the retrieval.Once that was discovered I was told that they had no openings to do a traanfer until June
My retrieval was in January. I did contact the office manager about this right away who was very sympathetic and had Dr. Gago get involved. The office manager scheduled my hysterscopy for March, and scheduled a transfer for April. At the time of the miscommunication, and of my retrieval I was actually under the care of Dr. Ayers at the clinic. Dr. Gago took my case over from Dr. Ayers due to the issues I had with his nursing staff.
She [Dr. Gago] recommended IVF with ICSI and PGS testing...I felt like a human because she took the time to discuss my treatment options with me and reviewed why my IUI's were unsuccessful. She spoke to me about my anxiety with the medications and made me feel confident I could do it...She was about 45 min late to our consultation...The next appointment I came back for blood work and a hysteroscopy with an ultrasound. I was taken back promptly, but then waited at least 30 minutes for Dr. Gago before she came in to perform the procedure. She did not seem rushed when she finally came in and took time to answer my questions.
The nursing staff is one of the reasons I stayed [at Gago Center for Fertility]. You see them for a majority of your appointments. They do the ultrasounds and blood draws, they do a majority of the communication both on the patient portal and phone...IUI was $500 plus medications IVF is $13,770 plus medications, monitoring, bloodwork...Doctor tends to run behind at least 30 minutes, since losing a doctor it appears they are overbooked as communication has gone down, taking longer than 2 days to respond to emails through the portal, and have not received a return call from the financial department, water fountain feature at Brighton office is very loud

Following a procedure Dr Gago wanted me to continue taking Doxycycline and the prescription wasnt called in until I called the office to remind them.
She [Dr. Laura April Gago] was compassionate during my miscarriage and reached out to follow up. Provided me with full details. Called again to check on me. She even hugged me which showed me she cared. Made this horrible experience a little more tolerable. Didn’t see her during all of my treatments though, Just the nurses. Wish I would have received more time with her and further next plan steps...Hybrid cycles using Letrozole 2.5 Mg and Gonal-F redi-Ject 450 unit/0.75 injections and ovidrel 250 McG/0.5 as the trigger shot. None were successful cycles. Did 5 of them . Then did the all the same as above with IUI which resulted in an ectopic pregnancy .
Nurses never answered the phone [at Gago Center for Fertility]. Always had to leave a voicemail. Nurses would ask me the same questions and I felt like they forgot who I was each time I arrived for treatment...Had to call a few times to have them renew my scripts after an approved cycle. Scripts were never sent to the correct pharmacy. They were sent wherever they chose, even though in my chart it shows my preferred pharmacy...

Weaknesses would be that they never answer the phone there. The receptionist never answers the phone. Isn’t that the job of a receptionist.... Always have to leave voicemails which is extremely frustrating. Strengths would be that they are good with time. Appointment times are close to when your appointment occurs.

Dr. Gago has a warm bedside manner, and most of her staff have excellent bedside manner as well. Dr. Gago personally performs all of my major procedures (D&C, ERA biopsy, egg retrieval, transfer). How was your experience with Laura April Gago at Gago Center for Fertility?
Dr. Gago is very warm and caring, and takes the time to patiently answer our many questions. She performs all major procedures (except our IUIs). She personally called us with our PGS results and I anticipate she will call with our beta results after my upcoming transfer. My only bad experience was during a recent hysteroscopy when we waited in the waiting room for a long time, and then the doctor and five other staff rushed in and hurriedly went about the procedure. It felt very frantic and was stressful. Every other time, Dr. Gago has been very calm.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Laura April Gago at Gago Center for Fertility?
Take the time to get to know the nurses. You will primarily be communicating with them.

Bromocriptine and Prometrium after retrieval. Results: 18 eggs retrieved, 11 fertilized, 11 embryos frozen and biopsied; 4 PGS normal embryos.
-Transfer #1 (ongoing): Lupron 20iu daily. Estrace 1 tab vaginal for 2 days, increase to 1 oral/1 vaginal for 3 days, increase to 2 oral/1 vaginal for rest of cycle. Progesterone in oil 2cc beginning 6 days before transfer (earlier due to ERA results) and through end of cycle. Transfer is scheduled for next week.

IUIs were around $500 each; we paid about $350 after insurance covered the semen sample prep. Not including medications.
We paid ~$23,000 for a multi-cycle IVF package with ICSI - includes two egg retrievals and unlimited transfers until viable pregnancy achieved. We paid an additional ~$2,000 to a lab for PGS. These costs do not include medications or monitoring, which fortunately were covered by our insurance with co-pays.
Describe Laura April Gago's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Gago Center for Fertility.
Dr. Gago strongly recommended PGS so we could confidently transfer one embryo at a time. She said her policy is never to transfer more than two embryos.
Be patient and prepared. You will not get much time with Dr. Gago...Whenever we were finally in a room with Dr. Gago we always felt like her most important patient. But always leading up to that, we were dealing with nurses or ultrasound technicians (who are pleasant but not very caring), then waiting for excruciatingly long times in our patient room for Dr. Gago to come in and explain things to us. This was our experience. The amount of waiting involved with visits, phone calls and call backs, and the lack of face time with Dr Gago remains a bitter memory for me.
In general, the Brighton [Gago Center for Fertility is] spacious and clean. I loved that they used actual sheets and plush robes, not hospital style paper sheets and thin open back robes. There is a strangely loud and intense water fountain/waterfall in the waiting room that I distinctly remember... The Ann Arbor clinic is much smaller but very conveniently located and gets the job done.

Dr. Gago is very put together and she genuinely shares the same goal as her patients. She will make you feel like you have someone you can rely on to help you have a healthy baby. She is good at explaining complicated matters. She has excellent bedside manner. She is confident and you will feel safe in the operating room with her. And in general she has set up her clinic to feel comfortable yet clean.

Describe the protocols Laura April Gago used in your cycles at Gago Center for Fertility and their degree of success.
Our fertility issue is recurrent pregnancy loss and not a lack of ovulation, but she recommended a very low dose of Femera (2.5mg) for 5 days from cycle day 3 to 7. She explained that this could help control egg maturation and therefore quality. Then, with monitoring I was told when to self-administer Ovidrel and had timed-intercourse. This resulted in a pregnancy but did not result in a live birth. Our baby had a random chromosomal abnormality (like the previous two). At our six week scan the baby was measuring 5 days smaller and his heartrate was 114. Since we knew exactly when he was conceived, the size variance was very concerning. Ten days later we went back in to confirm, either way, and his size was only a few days older and his heart was no longer beating. His genetic test results came back Trisomy 16, XY.

I don’t have any good memories of them, and didn’t really enjoy interacting with them. Only on the day of my surgery did the nurses really seem attentive, and yet I still don’t feel like we connected.

I was told that I needed to continue my antibiotics from the current 2 days (given for my HSG) for another 10, totaling 12 days, to eradicate the micropolyps Dr. Gago found on my hysterscopy. I found out, when I called CVS to ask why I still hadn’t received text message notification that my prescription was ready for pickup, that no one ever called in the prescription. The office was already closed and it took a while to get handled. In the end, this mistake caused me to miss the appropriate timing of my antibiotics, the micropolyps developed resistance, and a second hysteroscopy showed they were still there. I then needed to take stronger antibiotics for another 12 days, as well as get a “fertility D&C” to physically slough off the micropolyps (for extra measure).
I was assigned to a different provider in Dr. Gagos office because my case wasn't "enough" to be seen by Dr. Gago. After going through my diagnostic testing, the other provider realized that I had underlying fertility issues that she could no longer treat. I was set up with a diagnostic surgery with Dr. Gago without even meeting her. At the appointment date for my surgery, Dr. Gago was pleasant. But she explained the risks of my procedure quickly and moved on as if I was almost bothering her. After my surgery with her, she told me that I would need to have an actual surgery to remove cysts and endometriosis from my ovaries before I could continue fertility treatments. She explained that her schedule was way to busy that I would have to wait almost 6 to 7 months in order for her to do the surgery.
Coming into the office [Gago Center for Fertility], the nursers are the ones who complete the consult. They go through pricing, what to expect during your cycles, and do almost all the communication for the doctor. They were not the friendliest people and if you asked questions it felt like you were annoying them. The nursing staff is the one who performed my ultrasounds and IUI. Upon arrival for my IUI, they performed an ultrasound and realized that my follicle was already showing signs of ovulation. They told me this, followed by telling me that it is ok to go through with the treatment plan. None of the nurses could instruct me about the trigger shot because they claimed that I already had ovulated. Upon receiving my negative result, I called the office to let them know and the nurse stated "ok" and hung up.

This office never contacted me after surgery to see how things went. She never told me when to follow up with her.
After getting the ok from the OB to continue fertility treatments, I called the office to make a follow up appointment. (It had been months since I was last seen in their office.) They told me that I did not need to have a follow up appointment that we could automatically start clomid on my next cycle.

You have to be your own spokes person. She will not give direct instructions for follow ups. Please ask questions!

Dr. Gagos office expected payment before being called into the back. After being in the back everything was rushed and no one took their time to explain every situation.
Describe the protocols Laura April Gago used in your cycles at Gago Center for Fertility and their degree of success.
When first starting at her office I was supposed to have diagnostic work done and then move quickly into a Clomid cycle. The diagnostic work caught underlying fertility issues that needed to be addressed before moving on to try to conceive.

The clinic itself is beautiful. Has a spa like autmosphere. The tranquaility of the clinic makes you feel very comfortable and at ease.
How the clinic is ran though is really discouraging.
I do not feel like the clinic as a whole, takes everyone individual case into accommodation. I had expressed to everyone involved, that I believed that I was ovulating on or around day 9. But they all claimed that because most women do not, that they would follow through with the normal schedule.

Like I had stated earlier, I just feel like as a whole clinic, they do not listen to individual cases. They are very money hungry.
I saw Dr. Gago THREE times throughout our treatment. Two of those were surgery settings. One was to talk about the plan. She seemed to not remember much about our specific case most times due to this. Her nurses knew us by name and knew about us. Many people glowed about how wonderful she is and how caring and hands on of a Dr. she is. That was not what we experienced...
Very organized [AT Gago IVF - AA], but they do seem to have more patients than one Dr. can handle. If you go in at the end of the day, you'll be waiting 2 hours or more for your appt. time...Most of the nursing staff was awesome. Very knowledgable and kind...For the cycle with ICSI it was around 13,500. We had additional testing done with tacked on an additional 5,000. On top of medications that were near 5,000...
How was your experience with Laura April Gago at Gago Center for Fertility?
The clinic seems to be in a current state of having way too many patients than what they can handle. Dr. Gago needs to add another Dr if she wants to continue. We hardly saw her, had no idea about what was going on through the course of treatment, and only spoke with nurses. We went from 8 embryos on day 3 to 1 on day 5 (they gave one extra day and we had 3 total.) and were given no reasoning as to why. We then had them tested and were not told why we were only given results of two embryos. 5 minutes before the transfer we were told we only had one embryo left. Hardly enough time to decide if we wanted to continue at that point. The after care after the failed cycle has been the WORST. I was called by Dr. Gago 5 days after we found out the pregnancy test was negative. I asked her about further testing to find out what went wrong and was told "we don't want to point fingers." No further testing has been done and none was ordered. I have tried to reach the clinic to get a receipt for insurance purposes and have not heard back 11 days later. (Despite 1 phone call and 2 emails.) Overall, I'm very disappointed in not only how our cycle went, but the level of care we were given. It was the opposite of what many people who had so highly recommended her had experienced. Save yourself the extra money she charges and go to another clinic.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Laura April Gago at Gago Center for Fertility?
Save your money and find another clinic that doesn't charge the ridiculously high prices she does.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Laura April Gago at Gago Center for Fertility?
I saw Dr. Gago THREE times throughout our treatment. Two of those were surgery settings. One was to talk about the plan. She seemed to not remember much about our specific case most times due to this. Her nurses knew us by name and knew about us. Many people glowed about how wonderful she is and how caring and hands on of a Dr. she is. That was not what we experienced.
Describe the protocols Laura April Gago used in your cycles at Gago Center for Fertility and their degree of success.
We were never told what our treatment cycle would be. Just given the list of medications to order. No rationale was given either.

Dr Gago is absolutely amazing. She is thorough, efficient while being incredibly caring. You truly get the sense that she is invested in you and your journey to becoming a parent. I would recommend her to anyone looking for fertility treatment.... I went to another clinic before and wish I would have went to Dr. Gago first. I believe her attention to detail and treating my specific needs are what resulted in the birth of my son. She is the most compassionate and knowledgeable doctor I have ever worked with.
Sometimes I struggled with the staff [at Gago Fertility] but overall felt it was worth it to be treated by dr. Gago. She gives her full attention and efforts to each patient while she is with them. I would send anyone I know to her for treatment... She treated me with auto immune protocol since I have rheumatoid arthritis and I believe this was one of the key reasons our transfer worked with her and not with our previous doctor. He didn't do anything differently than his other patients. With Dr. Gago she treated me and my specific needs

One piece of advice I would give any new patient is to make sure that you are well aware of all the costs that go into fertility treatment. I feel that it is important to know and have a good understanding of this. One thing I would suggest is trying to understand what the cost of each step will be so that you are well prepared. A clinic strengths were in the willingness to speak with you and their compassion.
I cannot express strongly enough what a wonderful doctor and human Dr. Stentz is. She is obviously incredible intelligent, but is able to make a difficult and sometimes confusing process more understandable. Dr. Gago seems very smart and passionate about care. She is very detailed oriented and does not leave any stone unturned. She works well with her staff to develop individualized treatment plans and does not stick to just one standardized treatment protocol. She has gone through infertility herself and therefore can show empathy and gives everyone a chance at reaching their fertility's goals, regardless on the odds for success even though it may hurt her overall success numbers. She can be quick at bedside, but I get the impression she would stay longer as bedside if she felt like it was needed.
Gago Center for Fertility is a smaller clinic with it's own IVF lab. Once consultation was done, action plan was engaged quickly that was personalized. During cycle is it mostly communication with ultrasound technicians and IVF nurses, though they say results is reviewed with Dr. Gago after each monitoring appointment. Calls were short but always able to text questions in and get a call back.

Describe the protocols Laura April Gago used in your cycles at Gago Center for Fertility and their degree of success.
I do not understand the specific of each protocol, but she did adjust during the first cycle the dose. The 2nd cycle she adjusted further to try and improve maturity of eggs. I felt I was kept on track and thankfully never had a cycle canceled. Will be working on plan for 3rd cycle and what needs to be adjusted.
Describe your experience with the nursing staff at Gago Center for Fertility.
Nurses were available to review cycle calendars and review each one in detail. I heard from the nursing staff after every monitoring appointment to follow up on results and next steps. I never felt lost or unsure with what I was doing with protocol.
Describe your experience with Gago Center for Fertility.
Strengths: Small clinic so you are not just a number. They have safety in mind and will not take on more patients than they can handle. IVF lab in the building so embryos feel safely stored and monitored by embryology. Clear, detailed calendars and paired up with friendly and amazing fertility's pharmacy. Staff has come in early twice for monitoring to help with my work schedule.
Weakness: The front staff desk as a lot of turn over. Current person is friendly and organized, however. They use an online text system, which is great to send a message at any time and keeps track of all text conversations, but sometimes it would feel nice to be old school and be able to call and have a person pick up. This is more of just a change in communication, but the staff eventually always calls back. The back end of the office is the surgery suite. The pre and post op rooms are close together and sometimes can over-hear conversation. As a clinic, they are always asking for suggestions on how to improve care, so I recommend noise machines.

Describe Laura April Gago's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Gago Center for Fertility.
We have not gotten that far yet, however I suspect she is by the book and following the ASRM guidelines. Goal it healthy baby and healthy mom without going through unnecessary risks.
We have discussed this and in my case single embryo transfer is the best approach...She [Dr. Gago] has been compassionate, but frank, answered our questions thoroughly, and didn’t pressure us to move quickly to IVF...She gave us a list of recommended supplements at the beginning of our treatment to improve egg quality and more..
Two retrievals and “unlimited” transfers is about $20,000 plus meds and monitoring appointment costs. This includes ICSI, storage, etc...It’s really meaningful to me that I have the same doctor for everything. They [Gago Center for Fertility] did a good job processing charges through my medical insurance when they could (I do not have fertility coverage). Their good relationship with fertility pharmacies definitely made the med process go smoothly and I believe I received a discount on some meds for it.
How was your experience with Laura April Gago at Gago Center for Fertility?
From our first consult Dr. Gago moved quickly, which was appropriate on our case. She discovered my uterine factor challenges quickly and addressed them through multiple surgical hysteroscopies. I have since learned that her surgical technique is in line with the top doctors doing these kinds of procedures and I feel fortunate. She has been compassionate, but frank, answered our questions thoroughly, and didn’t pressure us to move quickly to IVF (although ultimately we did).
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Laura April Gago at Gago Center for Fertility?
Get as many of your questions as possible answered by Dr. Gago in person. She is great at responding to questions and I have always felt like I understood if I spoke up and asked/clarified. Instances when I left with questions made it difficult to get clearer between times with her.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Laura April Gago at Gago Center for Fertility?
Dr. Gago and many of the nurses and others remember me, my case, encourage me and avoid being overly clinical.
Describe the protocols Laura April Gago used in your cycles at Gago Center for Fertility and their degree of success.
Dr. Gago first spent time treating and removing uterine scarring from previous c-section, myomectomy, and d&c. She was educated about best practices and prescribed estrogen therapy to heal the uterine lining. She gave us a list of recommended supplements at the beginning of our treatment to improve egg quality and more. At the time it seemed strange to me and a little presumptuous, but I’m grateful because it meant I was on those supplements for months in the lead up to my eventual egg retrieval.
For my stim cycle, I didn’t ask many questions about the protocol. It was based on my age and the knowledge that despite my age I had healthy AMH, etc. Side effects were minimal. We retrieved 25 eggs and await further results.
Describe your experience with your nurse at Gago Center for Fertility. (Assigned nurse: Kenzie and Mary)
I think the nurses and other medical staff are great. Compassionate, smart, and seem happy to work there. There are some shortcomings of process between them and office management that would improve care coordination.
Describe your experience with Gago Center for Fertility.
It’s really meaningful to me that I have the same doctor for everything. They did a good job processing charges through my medical insurance when they could (I do not have fertility coverage). Their good relationship with fertility pharmacies definitely made the med process go smoothly and I believe I received a discount on some meds for it. The clinic’s facility is nice, clearly owned/operated thoughtfully. I have been able to do most of my monitoring appointments at a location closer to home and travel to Brighton for surgeries, egg retrieval and only occasional monitoring appointments.
Describe the costs associated with your care under Laura April Gago at Gago Center for Fertility.
Our fertility situation qualified us for a package. Two retrievals and “unlimited” transfers is about $20,000 plus meds and monitoring appointment costs. This includes ICSI, storage, etc.
Describe Laura April Gago's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Gago Center for Fertility.
We have discussed this and in my case single embryo transfer is the best approach. I don’t know if she would counsel to transfer multiple embryos in a different circumstance.
What specific things went wrong at Gago Center for Fertility?
Lost paperwork
Failed to order appropriate test
Failed to convey critical information
Describe the specific things that went wrong at Gago Center for Fertility.
The things that went wrong were annoying without having more significant impacts. There was a snafu that the wrong blood test was run so I had to go back. Another frustration was that I had to tell the receptionist what to schedule me for but I didn’t use the right terms, the appointment was scheduled wrong. It would have been better if the receptionist could have had my protocol calendar in front of her to avoid that. I didn’t have enough meds at one point but the office helped me. The finance side of things is overwhelming and the contact we had was less than warm, failed to follow up on some significant parts of the process.
Dr. Gago has always made time to understand my personal situation, explains every step of the process thoroughly, and makes you feel cared about throughout your time with her office. ... My insurance covers fertility issues, so I’ve been pretty lucky. Without insurance, IVF can run from $12,000 to $15,000 depending on testing and other special choices for embryos. They also charge separately for anesthesia with a $500 fee. Patients should be able to submit to insurance if they’d like.

Describe the protocols Laura April Gago used in your cycles at Gago Center for Fertility and their degree of success.
We did a endometrial scrape to try to get my endometriosis under control. We also did a water test through my Fallopian tubes to make sure everything was working correct there. We did multiple vaginal ultrasounds to look at my ovarian cysts and uterine fibroids. They sent my husband to a urologist to help diagnose his sperm issues and we tried 2 rounds of anastrottle and clomid to increase results, but it did not work.

Describe the costs associated with your care under Laura April Gago at Gago Center for Fertility.
The total treatment for us to go through IVF is 19,600 and some change. $5-$7000 of that is medications, lab fees 5-8,000 for the doctor and procedures of egg retrieval and putting them back after embryos are made. The rest are lab fees.
We paid about $400 out of pocket for the Fallopian tube testing
Describe Laura April Gago's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Gago Center for Fertility.
We have no reached this step in our IVF but from discussion we are going to be doing a multiple embryo transfer because my eggs are good
I started yoga, prenatal vitamins, co q 10, folic acid, vitamin c, vitamin d, and added mor fruit and veggies into my diet. Dr. Gago said it was good to be holistic and include modern medicine together. I had a hesteroscopy and it discovered scar tissue so I had surgery to remove it. I had two IUI cycles with Ovidril. The second one I had to take progesterone after, because my level was low. The third IUI cycle was a hybrid cycle so I had different medications/shots and ovidri
With Dr. Gago [at Gago Center for Fertility- Brighton] our insurance helped cover IUI we were about $250 out of pocket costs for each try. For the surgery I had a co pay of $100. All very reasonable, until IVF then our insurance wouldn’t cover it. They would be $21,000 for one cycle or $24,000 to try two cycles (or just one if the first was successful) .... Strengths: professional, knowledgeable, compassionate, good online patient portal, wonderful nursing staff, even the waiting room is nice Weakness: cost with IVF, to be a little better about communicating official diangonisis in person (versus on paper)
How was your experience with Laura April Gago at Gago Center for Fertility?
Dr. Gago was compassionate and talked with us about our situation. We had multiple consults with her. Sometimes we would have to adjust treatment. We tried IUI two times and were not successful so we were more aggressive with the third IUI trial. I also had surgery to remove scar tissue twice. The first time I really didn’t know why I had it and would’ve wished she talked to me about it. The second time I knew more and when she updated her technique and it was much smoother! Also during my hesterosocpy I was nervous and she was compassionate and we took a break during it and she got me a cold compress. Overall I was pleased to be Dr. Gago’s patient.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Laura April Gago at Gago Center for Fertility?
Have questions to ask beforehand so that you are ready for the appointment. For any prospective fertility patient in general just know that it’s a journey and a process. Ask if you need a break it’s no big deal if you need to take time away from treatment and let them know when you are ready again.

I felt like we were treated as a human, because the nurses were always so sweet. Everyone was professional.

The second one I had to take progesterone after, because my level was low. The third IUI cycle was a hybrid cycle so I had different medications/shots and ovidril. It was unsuccessful. I had another hysersocopy and it discovered more scar tissue so I had it removed. She said with our numbers it would make more sense to do IVF versus more IUIs but we were still welcome to keep trying if we wanted. Then we were going to start IVF, but it was so far out of our budget that we decided to have a consult with another clinic.

They gave us a form with our data and potential success rates, but no one sat with me and Specifically and said what it means to have uterine adhesions. However they did say I had scar tissue so they did tell me important information.
Dr. Gago is great at conveying intention, care, knowledge, recommended treatment. She sees a lot of patients and most times runs behind or isn’t available to communicate with. At times procedures seem rushed but when you get her she will listen and respond to as many questions as you need.... Set up egg retrieval, 5 day frozen with genetic testing, transfer, ERA biopsy after first failed transfer and adjusted meds for second FET which has failed
Staff [at Gago Center-Brighton] was never available to contact by phone only by voicemail or email, most return calls would take hours, billing was always disorganized, my assigned IVF nurse never followed through with care or concerns, I did have 3 staff members; Erin, Brittany and Jenny, that were consistently following through and addressing my needs that had been dropped by others, caring and making up my experience at this office.

Due to my surgeons recommendation IVF was my only recommended option due to lack of time for fibroids growth and my age. Miscommunication with billing, delayed return phone calls, requested billing letters that were never received, sitting in an appointment room for 45mins while waiting to have IM injection circles drawn on by my IVF nurse, requested copies of treatment paperwork and once coming in to pick it up paperwork was never prepared, 2 different calls with two different procedure protocols to follow after hours...
[Dr. Stentz] seems to genuinely care about my experience. It feels like she’s truly disappointed and frustrated when things don’t work out and she’s talked to her peers and others for other ideas to help us...She has tried different options, talking with different doctors, and pushed hard for us...After 3 failed iui’s we moved on to IVF which was our choice but also suggested by Dr Stentz...I know she only wanted to transfer one embryo but we never got to that point because none of our embryos matured.

During the last visit, when we were given the news of the cancellation of the cycle, I felt a little rushed out of the office....
