Dr Murrain is a very nice man, but as an GYN instead of an RE is not as skilled or up to date in the reproductive field. I feel that he follows a set plan but does not really understand or attempt to understand the treatment regimens he prescribes. He has a standard protocol and if you vary from it he doesn't know what to expect. He prescribed me such a high dose of drugs that a second opinion doctor was very shocked...
The biggest weakness [at GYFT Clinic - Tacoma] seems to be a lack of knowledge about new technologies or protocols outside of the ones already existing...The nurses are kind and compassionate, they oversee every step of your treatment. They even provided me with a cell number for after hours questions since the clinic doesn't have an after hours line...

Don't go, find a Reproductive Endocrinologist.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Luis A. Murrain at GYFT Clinic (closed)?
At the GYFT clinic I rarely saw the doctor, instead I was treated by the nurses most often. I loved the nurses and stayed at the clinic much longer than I should have because I thought they treatment would be the same everywhere. I only saw the doctor on retrieval day and if I requested a follow up appointment after a failed cycle. I was disappointed the doctor was not more involved.

While attempting to get my ovaries to respond (I have insufficient reserve), he has me on doses that are not recommended for use. I was taking 400IU Menopur and 400IU Follistim in one cycle, he always used Ganirelix to prevent ovulation (antagonist cycle). He does not put a patient completely under to retrieve eggs instead he uses waking sedation, as a result during my retrieval the left side was unable to be retrieved, leaving behind an additional 4 eggs.

Many of my costs were billed to insurance, but the cost of a IVF cycle was approximately $5500 when I was there (excluding meds) and $1200 for an IUI (excluding meds).
