Dr. Peck has a very good bedside manner and when you met with her I never felt rushed and she answered my questions. My concern is that I never felt like the whole overall process was explained to me just the next step each time. I would have preferred an overview before we started as it felt at times like the team was gatekeeping information from me...she was very kind but she left a lot of the contact to her nurse which at times was fine but for some news I would have preferred to speak to my doctor directly

We we kept waiting for our initial appointment for some time but after that we only had one issue with scheduling. My contact in the billing department was a dream to work with! How was your experience with Alison Peck at HRC Fertility?

When we met with Dr. Peck or spoke with her she was very kind but she left a lot of the contact to her nurse which at times was fine but for some news I would have preferred to speak to my doctor directly. I don't feel like she fully informed me of the chances we had with our first round of egg retrieval - perhaps she was trying to keep things positive - but that would have influenced some of the financial decisions we made (not paying for a package up front of services we may not ever get to use). I mentioned something about finances once and she indicated that she thought most people had insurance and she didn't really handle that. I understand that's not her job but I would have preferred some more insight from her about what we should have pre-paid or not.

What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Alison Peck at HRC Fertility?

Ask for an overview of the entire process before you get started so you know what's next. We were told about extra things halfway through the process that I would have liked to known ahead of time.

During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Alison Peck at HRC Fertility?

Describe the protocols Alison Peck used in your cycles at HRC Fertility and their degree of success.

The protocol was pretty straight forward and the first round included Follistim and Menopur. She added ominitrope for the second retrieval. There was never any discussion with us about whether we wanted to be more aggressive or try different medications.

Describe your experience with your nurse at HRC Fertility. (Assigned nurse: Jennifer Montoya)

Our coordinator was always very nice but she definitely made the experience frustrating. First, she took some time to get back to us and we'd have to follow up with questions after a few days. When I had more detailed questions she would often get confused and use terms that were not right for where we were in the process (such as using egg and embryo interchangeably) which led to extreme panic on my end. If I numbered and asked questions very clearly then I'd usually get a better response (a few days later). She did not provide us with an emergency number to reach her at - which I didn't even realize until I met with another nurse a day she was out and their email had an after hours phone number. This did become an issue several month later when she scheduled my partner for an early appointment and no one knew or was at the office. She would call us about embryo results and never asked if I was in a private place (I'd be at my office) or ask I wanted to wait until I was with my husband to get results - which I would have preferred. She also deferred to me for all questions, scheduling, etc. even if it was just for my husband. She was very nice throughout the process and would apologize when she made a mistake.

We did the "Dream Package" for $30,000 in 2022, then another retrieval for $22,000 in 2022 (including PGT testing). We've paid approximately another $13,000 for IVF of donor eggs (which were $15,000).

We've not transferred any embryos yet but my understanding is that Dr. Peck will only transfer one embryo at at time.

My husband had an appointment to give a semen sample for insemination into a donor egg and we were told to be there at 6:30 AM. The office was closed and we had no emergency number to reach anyone, We went to the surgery center that's associated with them and no one was there either. The procedure was then delayed several weeks and it was very upsetting.

HRC [Fertility] has a little bit of a factory feel, but they are doing this day in/day out so it should instill confidence. Billing can be a little tricky and I often had to figure out payments/credits on my own. Scheduling appointments is easy/convenient. But overall they have great success rates and know what they're doing...only issue with the nursing staff is that I have been through so many different coordinators throughout the years (around 5). I now have Shanise and she has been great.

You can trust that he knows what he's doing!! I did a ton of research on my own, but everything I saw/read always lined up with his advice.

We would have appreciated if Dr. Boostanfar was upfront and honest from our first consultation on him not taking my case. He only sees patients who are a candidates for IVF. Unfortunately, I am not a candidate for IVF. On our second consultation, he told us he was not able to help us because he only does IVF. It would have been helpful for him to disclose that on our first visit so we could have gone elsewhere and not wasted precious time and money.

[HRC Fertility is] Disorganized. We were given wrong appointment times by several nurses and staff. Making appointment for testing was difficult. Most times they did not pick up their phone. They took it upon themselves to make appointments for us and then letting us know about it later on...Don't go if you are not a candidate of IVF. Also, his [Dr. Boostanfar] personality is not warm and friendly. He is sarcastic and blunt. This type of personality doesn't work for everyone.

During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Robert Boostanfar at HRC Fertility?

Per our initially consultation with Dr. Boostanfar, he determined I was not a candidate for IVF and noticed that Dr. Boostanfar stopped taking an interest in our case once that was determined. It turned out that Dr. Boostanfar only does IVF. It would have been helpful to know that from the start so we didn't need to waste time doing a follow up consultation.

Describe the protocols Robert Boostanfar used in your cycles at HRC Fertility and their degree of success.

He was the only doctor who did not come up with any strategies or protocol. I went to three other REs after going to see Dr. Boostanfar and they all had a protocol for me to try. Dr. Boostanfar had my husband and I do genetic testing, HSG, sperm analysis and fragmentation. He wanted to find out the cause of infertility. Which other REs did not find necessary since the cause was due to premature ovarian failure do to simple lab work/family history.

Describe your experience with your nurse at HRC Fertility. (Assigned nurse: Yuli Espinosa )

Yuli often did not respond to my emails or forward my results timely. We were given incorrect times/dates/location for fertility testing. It made it very stressful having to chase after her for clarifications on what we needed to do, and getting results back. We were also given an unnecessary follow up consultation followed by it being canceled an hour before our appointment.

After switching to Dr. Alison Peck it was a huge sigh of relief because I felt like we had someone who was really rooting for us. Our consultation was pretty basic just getting all of the information down but from there we saw her at every appointment. She was very detailed in everything she saw in ultrasounds, possible risks and just making sure we had all the information needed to make each decision moving forward.

I really love that everything is in one office here [at HRC Fertility]. I would say the only slight weakness was the response time from billing. They did get back to us and after that one time we haven’t had problems since...The staff has been so helpful and our nurse Ariana is absolutely amazing. She answers every question and had a super quick response time...

I was very hesitant to switch clinics because we were very comfortable where we were at but we felt like we weren’t getting any where and we never saw the same dr at that office. After switching to Dr. Alison Peck it was a huge sigh of relief because I felt like we had someone who was really rooting for us. Our consultation was pretty basic just getting all of the information down but from there we saw her at every appointment. She was very detailed in everything she saw in ultrasounds, possible risks and just making sure we had all the information needed to make each decision moving forward. We are doing reciprocal ivf so my wife went through the egg retrieval. It went really well and Dr. Peck even held my wife’s hand going into the procedure! I don’t know any Dr who would provide that type care and compassion to an overwhelming situation like that. It was very much appreciated. We are still in the middle of a cycle but I tell my wife after almost every appointment that I am so glad we switched clinics.

Don’t be afraid to ask questions. Even if you think of some after the appointment. She is really good at painting a whole picture and not just sugar coating things.

She took the time to get to know us and what our goals were.

After our baseline blood work we started meds for my wife’s egg retrieval. As we went in for the blood work and ultrasounds leading up to the retrieval she changed the dose of menopur and one other to help us get the most out of our retrieval

Describe your experience with your nurse at HRC Fertility. (Assigned nurse: Ariana)

The staff has been so helpful and our nurse Ariana is absolutely amazing. She answers every question and had a super quick response time. She has never made me feel like any of my questions were stupid and even follows up after appointments or procedures just to see how we are doing. I feel so lucky to have these 2 people on our team as we try and have the family we have been trying so hard for.

Dr. Boostanfar can be a little sarcastic but is more enjoyable than disturbing. If needed he has no problem setting up an appointment for reassurance and if he’s not available he pairs you up with someone he thinks will best meet your needs. He might minimize the need for test if you’re young and healthy but also goes over the pros and cons like ruling everything out vs saving money. He meets you where you’re at and let’s you take he lead...He is open to single or multiple but he will tell you what he recommends and pros and cons such as possible complications with twins...

What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Robert Boostanfar at HRC Fertility?

Ask questions and rule everything out. Sometimes saving money ends up being more expensive. Also if you don’t think he’s funny (which he is) tell him and he’s very respectful. He also knows not to be sarcastic during serious situation.

During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Robert Boostanfar at HRC Fertility?

Dr. Boostanfar gave us the time of day and linked us to the care coordinator that best fit our needs. They treated us equally and evaluated both my partner and I. When my partner had bleeding episodes they were available and made time for us to come in. They helped plan our treatment when we moved away to best support us. When we had a miscarriage he was compassionate and helped us rule all possibilities out to best succeed in our second cycle. During the embryo transfer he was gentle and supportive along with his nurses. He explained what was happening with pictures of the embryos.

Describe the protocols Robert Boostanfar used in your cycles at HRC Fertility and their degree of success.

During our first cycle we determined I was healthy we did minimal medication and basic labs. Our retrieval was not as great as we expected. This only left us with three transferable eggs which resulted in two miscarriages. During our second cycle we did more medication, genetic testing, and more follow up on progress this resulted in 8 good genetically tested eggs and one healthy baby after a two embryo transfer.

She was compassionate and available. Would give us advice on what she would do. She held space for us when we needed it. She helped us find affordable medication and supported our schedule.

The medical aspect of the clinic was great. I plan to go back. Unfortunately, the financial aspect aspect of the clinic was terrible for us. They are very unorganized which resulted in getting charged extra or double for things like storage and almost feeling harassed when you try to follow up with them even though you have a receipt. I requested an itemized receipt to request a refund from my insurance and never received it. Our medication was charged before being other and letter billed again. They deliver a package and do not tell you about the hidden fees or additional cost to ultra sounds after a positive pregnancy. They do not call back so you have to call a lot or their main office not at the location and everyone is not on the same page.

We did a total of two cycles. Our first cycle was in the high 20s and the second cycle was in the high 30s due to change in medication, additional test to rule out anything else and remove polyps, and genetic testing.

I wish there was more testing and analysis done on why we were considered "unexplained" before jumping straight to IVF...I don't feel like Dr. T went above and beyond to treat me as a unique case...the next course of action was vague and was simply a small tweak to the current plan (let's just add omnitrope)

I would push your doctor/clinic to do additional testing, and I wish I was proactive and had armed myself with more research. Example: my husband's sperm analysis was deemed "borderline problematic" at HRC, but when showcasing these same results to another doctor at another clinic, they mentioned that the reference and evaluation criteria used are very old.

How was your experience with David Tourgeman at HRC Fertility?

At the time of seeing Dr. T, I was satisfied with every visit and knew what my next steps were. However, now that I've seen 2 other doctors since Dr. T, I've changed my mind as I am now able to compare and contrast the differences. My first IVF round was unsuccessful. We retrieved a good number of eggs, but only a few were mature, and of them, none of them fertilized. It was devastating, especially without previous context and knowledge that this can even be a possibility for me. During the follow up call with Dr. T, I did not feel there was an explanation for what happened, and the next course of action was vague and was simply a small tweak to the current plan (let's just add omnitrope). I was also told I simply have terrible egg quality and to look into Eastern medicine, and we'll reconvene in 3 months. Dr. T did not suggest any further testing to see if there may be other underlying issues. I went and got a second opinion, and that's when the new doctor suspected endometriosis, which was verified by an endometrioma in one of my ovaries. I don't feel like Dr. T went above and beyond to treat me as a unique case.

What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of David Tourgeman at HRC Fertility?

I would push for more testing and to ask the tough questions (e.g. why this treatment protocol, why not this one, what happened when something unexpected occurred, etc.).

HRC and Dr. Tourgeman was the first clinic that I went to (I'm currently at my third). In retrospect, I started this process quite naive, and thought IVF was a guarantee success. Our initial consult was only about 20 minutes long as Dr. T went through a list of standard things. I wish there was more testing and analysis done on why we were considered "unexplained" before jumping straight to IVF.

Describe the protocols David Tourgeman used in your cycles at HRC Fertility and their degree of success.

We used a standard antagonist protocol (Gonal F & Menopur, followed by Cetrotide and trigger shot). Rationale for using this protocol: I was diagnosed by Dr. T as "unexplained," so I believe that is why he prescribed a standard typical protocol. Results: approx. a dozen eggs were retrieved, only a few were mature, and none fertilized.

My nurse was approachable and easy to communicate with. However, I was not given an overall timeline for the treatment when asked. I understand there must be flexibility and things are not set in stone in IVF, but even a rough timeline would be helpful.

The protocol we were on didn't feel specific to my body and she [Dr. Peck] often seemed unsure of what to do. Anything and everything that COULD work she would throw at us, ranging from a mock cycle to an intralipid infusion...she would often appear angry or annoyed if we asked too many questions....I truly felt like I was being experimented on there. I'm not convinced she is up to date on the latest research and I'm not even sure she cares too much about results outside of how it might affect her numbers...

We had 3 nurses throughout our year and a half at HRC, which is part of the problem. The turnover rate there is very frequent. So just when we would get used to one, someone else would take over. The first and last were truly wonderful. The one in the middle made me stressed and angry during a process when I should be as relaxed as possible....

How was your experience with Alison Peck at HRC Fertility?

Dr. Peck seems like a really nice person and I'd trust her with our child. But I wouldn't trust her to create one. I truly felt like I was being experimented on there. I'm not convinced she is up to date on the latest research and I'm not even sure she cares too much about results outside of how it might affect her numbers. My experience at my next fertility clinic with our next doctor was like night and day.

What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Alison Peck at HRC Fertility?

Her bedside manner isn't great, which would be totally fine if her results were. Unfortunately that wasn't the case in our situation. We felt like so much time and money was wasted with her conservative approach, not to mention how much my body went through unnecessarily. Do your research and don't just talk to a friend who had success with her. See what the experience has been like for patients overall.

When we had difficult results, a nurse would call instead of her, and she would often appear angry or annoyed if we asked too many questions.

Describe the protocols Alison Peck used in your cycles at HRC Fertility and their degree of success.

The first round of egg retrievals/embryo creation, we wound up with zero healthy embryos. Yet not much was changed for round two (which resulted in 2 healthy ones, but neither transfer worked). And I know now from my experience at the next clinic that she was overmedicating me. She also didn't monitor me at all once I started injections for the transfer, whereas at my next clinic, the doctor had me come in so he could adjust the medication if necessary. She seemed utterly baffled why I wasn't getting pregnant, and threw a lot at the wall to see what would stick as a result (acupuncture day of transfer, intrillipid inufusion day of transfer, mock cycles to improve results, etc.). Nothing worked and everything was more costly and took more time. She'll tell you that she said we didn't need to do any of those things, but when a doctor tells you that something COULD work, you are so desperate and don't want any regrets that you'll try anything. But I want a doctor who KNOWS what will likely work. Not someone who is guessing.

There is too much turnover there. Just when you start to connect with someone, they leave. Overall I was not impressed. Two of the nurses assigned to our doctor were really wonderful, but a big part of feeling grateful for their warmth and compassion is that our doctor seemed to lack it.

Describe Alison Peck's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at HRC Fertility.

It was never discussed in detail but she did eSET on us both times. I have no objections to that. She did a multiple embryo transfer for our friends who ended up having twins. I'm sure either could work.

Dr. Tourgeman is very kind and knowledgeable. After going to one of his seminars and seeing his kind demeanor in combination with his expert knowledge, we decided to consult with him. He was very gentle with the IUIs and I didn’t feel any pain. For me, he says IVF is indicated due to my history with endometriosis, but we decided to do a few rounds of IUI first due to the cost of IVF. I am sometimes unclear about what exactly he thinks about my cycle and wish he would alter the medications a bit to see if that would help. The first cycle he did two IUIs (one before and one after ovulation). The second round he was unavailable for the IUI and the covering physician was unaware of how Dr. Tourgeman was doing two IUIs for me. Overall I liked Dr. Tourgeman and will continue to see him for care.

What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of David Tourgeman at HRC Fertility?

Come prepared with your questions ahead of time and ask questions during ultrasounds.

Describe the protocols David Tourgeman used in your cycles at HRC Fertility and their degree of success.

Try IUI with letrozole for 2-3 cycles before moving to IVF due to cost of IVF and multiple, extensive endometriosis surgeries. I was hesitant to try clomid because of potential vision side effects and a history of migraines with auras, so we decided to use letrozole instead.

Describe your experience with the nursing staff at HRC Fertility.

The nursing staff has been okay overall. My primary nurse changed between my first and second cycle. I think the first nurse I had left the practice. She was better at explaining the injections than my second nurse, but wasn’t as good at communicating results with me. It was nice to have the best of both worlds overall, for example to have good education on the injections the first round and good communication about results on the second round. But overall it was okay, not great.

Describe your experience with HRC Fertility.

I don’t have any insurance coverage for fertility. A consult was about $350. Initial cycle ultrasound was about $400. Each blood draw was about $90. First IUI with ultrasound was about $800. Second IUI without ultrasound was about 400. Follow up pregnancy test was covered by insurance.

We did an egg retrieval [with Dr. Robert Boostanfar] on my wife that went beautifully. We then did a mock embryo transfer to ensure that the transfer would go well. He had me on estrogen, an antibiotic, a steroid, progesterone and 3 lipid infusions. I had acupuncture twice on the day of the transfer. They checked my labs weekly and we did about 4 ultrasounds...Just before our 13 week perinatal appointment, we lost the baby and Dr. Boostanfar called us immediately like a family member and has emailed questions for us to ask our OBGYN because this is an extremely rare tragedy in his experience.

The clinic [HRC Fertility] was organized, clean, warm and welcoming. It was easy to access. All the facilities are in one building, which makes everything very easy...Our nurse coordinator, Alina, has become our friend. She wants our family to grow as though it is her family, too. We have been trying for 5 years to create our family and we are clear that Dr. Boostanfar will make our dreams a reality. We "graduated" from the clinic and saw our OBGYN for our 12 week check up and everything was going great. He will also do his own testing once my body has healed and is confident in his ability to be successful..

This clinic wasn't pretentious, unlike other locations we've been to with chandeliers and frills. It was simply elegant and made me feel like they were there to do a job and not entice me to come because of glitz and glamour. This process is not glamorous, it requires every ounce of your being and heart and this clinic has that vibe. They are there to make you comfortable and with care, get you and your family what you want.

As a patient you feel treated like an equal. Your input does matter and Dr. Boostanfar goes the extra mile to make sure you understand his reasoning and makes you part of the treatment. ... If you feel you don’t fully understand his motivation he will address that. He is up to date with his knowledge of expertise and the fact that he suggested mini ivf at my age only proves that, since it is the quality and not the quantity that matters.

Dr. Boostanfar is a genuine and I am glad he was my first experience as a fertility doctor. As previously said, he treats you as his partner in the treatment and goes the extra mile with his RN Brandy to meet your fertility/emotional need. If you feel you don’t fully understand his motivation he will address that. He is up to date with his knowledge of expertise and the fact that he suggested mini ivf at my age only proves that, since it is the quality and not the quantity that matters.

Dr. Boostanfar is busy but he will take his time to make sure all is clear. However it is better to have your questions ready for him. Fertility is seen as very personal hence some topics remained unspoken, but they should be discussable and he is the right person for it.

As mentioned I underwent the mini ivf, as it has become more and more clear that full blown high dosages of fertility hormones increase the number but not necessarily the quality of the eggs. I had a gentle cycle with injectables and low dose of everything. I had barely any side effects and experienced a pregnancy from the first cycle. Unfortunately ended in miscarriage due to genetic defect. So specifics: a mini ivf including the egg retrieval (my own), since only 3 eggs available, opted for ICSI to ascertain feryilization, topped it up with endometrial scratching which in peer reviewed journals has shown to be somewhat beneficial in some.

Brandy is the face of sympathy. She will make sure that issues that were not or forgotten to discuss will be addressed. She will make time for you and make you feel you are the only patient there. Dr. Boostanfar tailors his treatment to his individual patients. There is no “one fits all” principle and I can only express an opinion about my case, older age, max 2 to transfer since you don’t want add risk to mother and baby in case of multiples of higher number would be added. I had only 2 embryos but even if I had 3 still 2 would be transferred.

He has the BEST bedside manner, literally sits on the bed with you and makes eye contact, very empathetic but also gives you a plan...he says things like "I like Lupron and Lupron is fine for an FET but I don't like it for YOU." It is things like this that make me trust that he is individualizing my care, unlike other REs who have used a one size fits all protocol at times.

[HRC is] Organized, clean, compassionate - I saw a sign that said please don't bring kids to a certain floor as it is a trigger for others. Easy to schedule, billing is a breeze. They get back to you quickly and I had no issues...[The nurse is] So thorough with follow up. Quick to respond and she will always find a time to talk with Dr. March if she doesn't know the answers. Amazing, love her!...Hysteroscopy - with 3 weeks of the balloon placed along with estrogen before and after. He likes to use estrogen prior to the procedure so he can map your uterus. I wouldn't have a hysteroscopy without the estrogen prep! He is also saying No lupron or BCP prior to a FET for those with thin lining. Instead, start estrogen on Day 2! Nurse

Dr. March used real life analogies like baseball and even war to help my husband understand our fertility better. He has a wonderful sense of humor while also exuding the utmost confidence in treatment that is specialized and tailored to ME. For example, he says things like "I like Lupron and Lupron is fine for an FET but I don't like it for YOU." It is things like this that make me trust that he is individualizing my care, unlike other REs who have used a one size fits all protocol at times.

What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Charles March at HRC Fertility?

If you have Asherman's or thin lining contact him! If I lived in LA I would use him for IVF and I have even considered moving my embryos to him if my local REs don't agree on a protocol for me.

Describe the protocols Alison Peck used in your cycles at HRC Fertility and their degree of success.

During our egg retrieval Dr. Peck adjusted possible dates and dosages of medications based on the growth of our follicles during the time I was taking stimulation medication. Towards the end of our cycle Dr. Peck monitored our progress very closely by having me do daily ultrasounds and blood draws. She took the time to explain the reason for my feeling so much discomfort and overall pain (high number of follicles developing), she explained the reasons for the delay during my egg retrieval and explained the benefits of waiting longer for egg retrieval (waiting until most of the follicles reached full maturity). We appreciated the close attention paid to our progress during our egg retrieval. During the day of our egg retrieval she came in and spoke to me and told me what to expect and even after the procedure she came in and provided us with our results and I truly appreciated her answering questions despite being very busy and treating multiple patients including ourselves.

Describe your experience with your nurse at HRC Fertility. (Assigned nurse: Kimberly Solis)

Our Care Coordinator is very thorough with our consultations with us and helps to further educate us on our process. She always promptly responds to my emails when I have questions and I appreciated that more than anything, she was always available. During the time when we ordering our stimulation medications she went above and beyond to help our insurance cover the medications by writing a letter of medical necessity on our behalf very quickly and our medications were approved which was a huge help financially for us. We appreciate Kimberly sharing her own personal experiences with the treatments we were going through and telling me what to expect during the process.

The clinic employs friendly staff who are available to answer questions, provide information, and go the extra mile to work with our insurance carrier. Dr. Boostanfar is direct. I am an educated, self-advocating patient and he took that into account when explaining why he chose a particular protocol for retrieval and transfer.... My cycle before finding Dr. B was a complete failure where I made no blasts. I was a low responder. Instead of jacking up my FSH, Dr. B suggested micro dose Lupron and HGH. I had 5 embryos sent off for testing and 2 came back normal.

The clinic [HRC- Encino] is on busy Ventura Boulevard. There is parking at the building, but it is pricey. I wish there validated for the attached parking, but you have to self-pay. Dr. Boostanfar is direct. I am an educated, self-advocating patient and he took that into account when explaining why he chose a particular protocol for retrieval and transfer. He was very compassionate when I miscarried and is determined to get me to my goal.

My cycle before finding Dr. B was a complete failure where I made no blasts. I was a low responder. Instead of jacking up my FSH, Dr. B suggested micro dose Lupron and HGH. I had 5 embryos sent off for testing and 2 came back normal. For my transfer, he tried an out of the box protocol including an HCG injection, Neupogen uterine wash, vaginal viagra, intrilipids. It worked in terms of getting me pregnant.

My nurse, Bahar, was highly communicative and on top of every med, symptom, and appointment. She gave me her personal contact to reach out to anytime I needed her. She has been amazing!

The clinic is on busy Ventura Boulevard. There is parking at the building, but it is pricey. I wish there validated for the attached parking, but you have to self-pay. The clinic itself is nicely decorated. I have been to others with shabby chairs and 1990 decor, but HRC is modern and clean. Each appointment I had in the Encino office, there was minimal wait time, if any at all. All of the staff from the front desk, phlebotomists, and nurses are all friendly and kind. Billing can be a little bit confusing. My case is likely unique with extra charges and additional procedures. They do offer a military/veteran discount, which is very nice!

During this period I came in for regular blood tests and had a few acupuncture sessions. She checked my uterus regularly. The general treatment was good. I had the karyotype testing done.

I was given incorrect needles for the instructions I was given, she didn't know how to use a Q-cap for the menapur (she would try and pop it out instead of putting it on the vial then releasing the packaging), and a few other glitches.

They are prompt. Communication with coordinator could be better. Doctor should not assume about returning patients I feel I should have acted as though I was new and not be pushed under the rug in a way.

Dr. Peck never wasted my time with multiple IUIs or rounds of clomid. She was honest about my chances instead of just going through the motions. Dr. Peck took the time to explain the entire situation and provide honest feedback.... She was candid about our results and helpful with recommendations. She also took the time to qualify us for an IVF study, which may be helpful for us.... Dr. Peck originally recommended medicated cycles for anovulation.

HRC-Encino is warm and inviting. Every time I call, I am quickly transferred to where I need to be. They’re honest about their costs. Also, they call with results on time! My only complaint is expensive parking.... Kimberly is Dr. Peck’s nurse and is amazing! She will email me back about a nervous last minute question at 10pm on a weeknight! Dr. Peck originally recommended medicated cycles for anovulation. She also urged a semen sample and HSG prior to treatment. I’m so grateful that she did because I also have a blocked tube/my husband has poor morphology, motility, and DNA fragminatation. Knowing these results, she recommended IVF to save us time and money. Moreso, she recommended us to an IVF clinical trial, which will hopefully save us more money.

Kimberly is Dr. Peck’s nurse and is amazing! She will email me back about a nervous last minute question at 10pm on a weeknight! After 2 HSG tests my results for my right ovary was still unclear. I mentioned that my childhood gynecologist believed I had endometriosis. Dr. Boostanfar recommended that I take care of my endometriosis before starting IVF. He was insistent about laparoscopic surgery with robotics. At that time there were no qualified doctors in Los Angeles to perform that procedure and he referred me to Dr. Nazaht in San Francisco. Dr. Nazaht removed my stage 2 & 3 endo from my uterus and colon. He also repaired my uterus that was beginning to become bicornuate. Dr. Nazaht also diagnosed me with one ovary (lost right side due to torsion). Then started IVF. Did PGS testing and ERA. ERA identified that my lining was inflamed possibly due to endometriosis and therefore began depot lupron procedures.

Dr. Boostanfar has excellent bedside manner. He immediately understood that this was not my "first rodeo" and did not waste my time with basic information that I already knew. He listened and understood my concerns and provided options and knowledgeable feedback.... He runs a busy practice, and although at times it may seem like he is in a hurry, he takes the time to answer all of my questions.... Express your goals and concerns with him.

HRC has an excellent reputation in southern California, and their popularity is evident. Despite a sometimes busy waiting room, appointments typically run on time or close to the scheduled time. Appointments are quick but comprehensive. I have seen the doctor at every visit. My only constructive comment is that the financial/insurance department can be somewhat confusing at times. There were occasional unexpected add-on charges and it was difficult to understand clearance with my insurance and the clinic.

Dr. Boostanfar is knowledgeable in his field and direct/to the point, which I appreciate. He runs a busy practice, and although at times it may seem like he is in a hurry, he takes the time to answer all of my questions. His nurse is extremely competent and effective as well.

Express your goals and concerns with him. He is open to exploring options and making a decision with you as a doctor/patient team.

My nurse/care coordinator is excellent. As with any professional medical office, you will mostly communicate with the nursing staff regarding scheduling, information, small concerns, etc. and this clinic clearly has armed itself with a competent and effective staff. Do no overlook the importance of a knowledgable and communicative nurse, because it can make all the difference in your experience.

The first time in 2013 he [Dr. Tourgeman] was godsend. Everything was just amazing. When I recently saw him this year I didn’t feel the same. I felt like everything was vague. Maybe because I already went through s cycle and he knew me he didn’t need to be more attentive as I was a returning patient.... First cycle I had follistim with more eggs and second time we used gonal f and less eggs. Not sure if it made a difference but also I aged.

Front desk [HRC] did not update my number in my file. I called many times to make sure but it was never done. My nurse could never call me, Pharmacy was given wrong number but thankfully my email still worked.... Weakness would be communication. When I changed my number they didn’t update everywhere. When it came time for updates after retrieval they called a disconnected number. Dr.T is great and I still think highly of him. Just this past cycle I lost a little bit of confidence.

He is very kind and gentle as a doctor and also went through IVF for his son. I knew he would be compassionate

Describe the protocols David Tourgeman used in your cycles at HRC Fertility and their degree of success.

First cycle I had follistim with more eggs and second time we used gonal f and less eggs. Not sure if it made a difference but also I aged. 5 years from 24 to 30. I wasn’t confident with medication change.

Describe your experience with your nurse at HRC Fertility. (Assigned nurse: Jenny )

My nurse was quick to answer questions and emails. Towards the end of the cycle I felt that wasn’t the case. She would forget to do what she said she would. Make a phone call, follow up on certain things.

Weakness would be communication. When I changed my number they didn’t update everywhere. When it came time for updates after retrieval they called a disconnected number. Dr.T is great and I still think highly of him. Just this past cycle I lost a little bit of confidence.

Dr.T is there in the afternoons sometimes it was hard to get an early appointment which made my appointment last the entire day including drive time.

Sometimes they billed my insurance differently and in turn the insurance said I was responsible instead of them covering.

When we decided to do IVF, dr boostanfar [at HRC-Encino] made specific plans for my case and adjusted the medication throughout the entire IVF process. After every ultrasound he made adjustments accordingly and we got 32 eggs out of it! 22 fertilized and 16 were sent off for biopsies...Brandy [nurse] is awesome! She is extremely organized, responds to emails and phone calls so quickly, and she’s so compassionate as well.

When we first met Dr. boostanfar we had no idea what we were getting ourselves into when it came to the infertility world. He thoroughly explained everything, went over tests that needed to be done, and after these tests we all sat down and went over options. My results were given to me right away with every test. Dr.Boostanfar let me decide what I wanted to do, even though I trusted his judgment and allowed him to help me make decisions. He also saw me for every appointment, which I thought was amazing.

Dr. B is so thoughtful and considerate of what we’re going through. I’d talk to him about what your feeling as much as possible and be open with him about everything, he does the best he can to help you feel at ease.

My husband and I are still under his care and we will only be seeing him for future children because he makes us feel so special and takes care of us like he would his own family members.

Both of my IUIs has different treatments. The first IUI I was on femara and the second I was on femara and injections. Both had negative outcomes, but I only have one tube working (the other was taken out due to blockage). When we decided to do IVF, dr boostanfar made specific plans for my case and adjusted the medication throughout the entire IVF process. After every ultrasound he made adjustments accordingly and we got 32 eggs out of it! 22 fertilized and 16 were sent off for biopsies.

Brandy is awesome! She is extremely organized, responds to emails and phone calls so quickly, and she’s so compassionate as well. I’d highly recommend her if you have the choice!

Describe your experience with HRC Fertility.

This clinic is amazing. You never have to wait for too long to get in and see a doctor. I’ve never waited more than 20 minutes in the waiting room and they have so much staff (that are friendly of course) that it makes it easy every time I go in and get blood work or an ultrasound done.

The appointments I made have always been on time regardless of the time of day. I never had to wait too long to see the doctor or nurse.

I don't feel that the treatment was explained to me very well and I had to spend a lot of time on forums/google to better understand what was going on.

It's a large clinic [HRC] and so it's to be expected that one is more like a number than a person... It's still expensive and the add-ons really add extra costs but I don't think it was very different than other clinics in the area...I loved my nurse and she was a strong factor for me considering staying with HRC/Dr. Boostanfar. It was suggested to transfer two PGS normals and the mention of risks was very brief and lasted perhaps 5 seconds of are you okay with twins even though I've read a lot that two PGS normals for someone less than 35 but brief explanations were par on course for everything else so this was not surprising.

It seemed towards the last few cycles I felt more like a number. The clinic [HRC - Encino] was very clean. I didn't like them moving where I received my acupuncture treatment into an open space. I loved that they offered acupuncture treatment there. The equipment seemed very up to date...All of the nurses were pretty good and caring. After my first cycle it seemed like the nurses kept rotating so I always saw a different nurse. That was annoying.

He was good about listening to my concerns and not pushing me out the door at least for the 1st few cycles. Towards the last the few cycles it seemed our consultations after were brief to me. I would see him for exams and pre and post retrievals and transfers. I don't know if my repeated disappointment was projected on to him and then he felt it harder to deal my transfer failure. I'm not sure.

we did only 3 day transfers. The last cycle we tried for a 5 day blastocyst. the embryo died between day 3 and 5. i don't remember specific medications but I remember that he said they were aggressive however in my Facebook support groups other women had more aggressive protocols so I do question that. Also, after my last cycle I suggested we test for the progesterone level only to find out that my progesterone level was short for a transfer. I wish we had done this before.
