Attention to Detail

Attention to detail is on a 1 - 10 scale, and is scored based on the rate, and severity, of errors committed by the clinic according to the patients.

For example, a severe error might be failing to inform a patient of critical information, while a small error might be failing to call a patient with results.

CDC Success Rates

This is the most recent data from the CDC. The CDC cautions that it should not be used to compare doctors and clinics. This data represents the outcomes of IVF cycles when using a person's own eggs.

For more information please see our FAQs.

Where you see a “?” on the chart, a clinic has done fewer than 20 cycles in this category and age range, so the CDC says showing percentages from this small data set would be misleading and unreliable.

Dr Slater was highly recommended to me. After my first visit I can see why. She was really sincere and caring. She took time to get to know us. And even though after 3 IUI's we did not have a baby. I do not blame her. It was my body and not my time. Dr Slater has a great bed side manner and I would highly recommend her to anyone TTC.
Everyone in the clinic [Idaho Center for Reproductive Medicine] was kind and supportive. It was always a pleasure. They helped with the financial asst that we needed. They were always available to answer any questions that came up. Going through these treatments was a hard time in my life and the staff made the whole process so much easier.

Doctor [Dr. Kyle Tobler] was very detailed and didn't make me feel rushed. Fully explained options to me and took into account what was important to me. I think the [Idaho Center for RM] clinic is great. Seems like they are all very aware of how things work and communicate what to expect as well as willing to answer questions that come up. I really appreciate the phone call reminders. Only concern is being unable to reach anyone when calling at times but can leave a voicemail...[nursing staff was] Very kind and understanding. Did not make me feel rushed. The lab was great as well and made it very painless which is great for someone like me with a fear of needles.

She [Dr. Cristin Slater] knows her stuff and is very informative but sometimes when she is explaining things I’m not sure what it means and she doesn’t explain it. But she is very smart and good at what she does. She is very generous, and is willing to help you in any way that she can... She really took the time to get to know me and cared about my situation.... The front desk [at Idaho Center for Reproductive Medicine- Boise] is not very quiet about some procedures you are doing. Sometimes I don’t like how ‘sensitive’ they are to situations. All are very willing to help you in any way they can. But overall, they are very nice

He [Dr. Kyle Tobler] is very informative let me know what to expect and how to get there I barely started seeing him as of this month of June 2022 so at this point I have not much experience as a patient with him I do expect that he will be a great fit with my journey...He was very welcoming and showed me that he cares about my Journey to parenthood.
Every staff member was very friendly very welcoming [at Idaho Center for Reproductive Medicine]. Like I mentioned before it was my very first appointment so I’m looking forward to knowing more about the clinic and their strengths. They communicated very well and was able to schedule another appointment that same time so I didn’t have to travel back home and then come back.

Dr. Slater was candid in manner, and I felt heard. We do not understand why my results were as they were. Looking at alternative options. She met with me a couple times and did one IUI that proved to be complicated.... I needed meds every round for egg growth.... ICRM does a good job of communicating and providing emergency backup meds (which you replace later) when needed. They were positive, sometimes too much so, about possibilities.

Dr. Tobler was precise in his care, made adjustments as needed, and comforted me through obstacles with his medical knowledge and experience...very knowledgeable and fact-based. How was your experience with Kyle Tobler at Idaho Center for Reproductive Medicine?
Dr. Tobler is very professional. With something as expensive and medically invasive as IVF, the most reassuring doctor would be someone who is experienced and knowledgeable about their field. Dr. Tobler was precise in his care, made adjustments as needed, and comforted me through obstacles with his medical knowledge and experience. Having a Day 7 blastocyst transferred was nerve racking. But, Dr. Tobler had experience with these blastocysts and shared with me his success rates. This brought my anxiety way down and allowed me to have a little faith. I am glad I did, because I am currently beginning my second trimester!
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Kyle Tobler at Idaho Center for Reproductive Medicine?
Don't be afraid to ask questions. I am sometimes intimidated by doctors and don't wish to take up their time, but Dr. Tobler is a great communicator and makes you feel validated for your questions and concerns.

Unfortunately, my egg retrieval cycle was a long time ago, so I don't remember my medications and dosages. For my embryo transfer, we approached it with the standard injectable medications of progesterone in oil and estradiol. I started on 1 mL of progesterone and 0.15 mL of estradiol. As they were monitoring my progesterone levels, it became apparent that I needed to increase my dosage (despite the fact that I have a low BMI). For most of my cycle, I was on 2 mL of progesterone. In addition, I had progesterone suppositories that I began using after the transfer.
Describe your experience with the nursing staff at Idaho Center for Reproductive Medicine.
The nursing staff was very organized and timely with my appointments. I consistently felt like a priority and that they were providing me with the highest level of care. They were available when I had a question and made sure that I remained educated on the process.

Approximately $25,000 all-in cost.

Overall I didn't see her [Dr. Slater] often but I was glad she was there for every important procedure and I felt comfortable the rest of the time with her staff...Our complications included a sperm blockage and low ovarian reserve (VERY low). We knew going in we would be going straight to IVF. While I was originally estimated to have an egg retrieval of about 8, after the diagnosis it was dropped down to between 0-2. During each IVF cycle, the follicle count was reviewed and the medications were altered if needed
All of the staff [at Idaho Center for Reproductive Medicine] was wonderful. The coordinators, nurses, technicians, and phlebotomists were always very positive, informative, and just generally friendly to talk to. I worked a lot with my IVF coordinator Kara who was so helpful and understanding throughout both of my cycles. I would periodically email her questions and concerns I had about how the cycle was going...and she was always very encouraging and reassuring in her responses, letting me know how and why the cycles were progressing the way that they were...
How was your experience with Cristin Slater at Idaho Center for Reproductive Medicine?
At our first consultation, she gave us a total overview of what to expect throughout the whole process and answered our list of questions. She laid out what she thought was the best course of action for our situation and what kind of results we should be looking at based on the information we had. She then asked if we wanted to proceed that day with the first tests (water ultrasound and bloodwork) which was nice so we didn't have to schedule another appt for that (we live 30 min away). I then saw her for the egg retrieval and though she expressed her hope for a healthy embryo, she answered all my questions on starting a new IVF cycle (which we did). Saw her the second egg retrieval and then the embryo transfer. Overall I didn't see her often but I was glad she was there for every important procedure and I felt comfortable the rest of the time with her staff.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Cristin Slater at Idaho Center for Reproductive Medicine?
From the day I called about a consultation to the consultation itself was 2 months and another 2 months to start our first round of IVF, so be prepared to wait and be patient because the experience is worth it.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Cristin Slater at Idaho Center for Reproductive Medicine?
Every staff member was helpful, supportive, encouraging, and knowledgable. Whenever I had a question or concern about any part in the process, they were there to promptly answer them.
Describe the protocols Cristin Slater used in your cycles at Idaho Center for Reproductive Medicine and their degree of success.
Our complications included a sperm blockage and low ovarian reserve (VERY low). We knew going in we would be going straight to IVF. While I was originally estimated to have an egg retrieval of about 8, after the diagnosis it was dropped down to between 0-2. During each IVF cycle, the follicle count was reviewed and the medications were altered if needed. The first cycle had 2 eggs which resulted in one abnormal embryo which she encouraged us not to use and we completely agreed (though the choice was ultimately ours). She altered the medication dosage for the second IVF cycle in hopes of better results. The blood tests/follicles were better overall the second time yet still resulted with again 2 eggs but one good embryo! I was then put on meds to start the FET process which resulted in a successful transfer.
Describe your experience with your nurse at Idaho Center for Reproductive Medicine. (Assigned nurse: IVF Coordinator-Kara Hill)
All of the staff was wonderful. The coordinators, nurses, technicians, and phlebotomists were always very positive, informative, and just generally friendly to talk to. I worked a lot with my IVF coordinator Kara who was so helpful and understanding throughout both of my cycles. I would periodically email her questions and concerns I had about how the cycle was going (which there were parts which really didn't look very optimistic to me) and she was always very encouraging and reassuring in her responses, letting me know how and why the cycles were progressing the way that they were. Once I was no longer working with her, I ran into her in the halls and she stopped to say hello and asked how our transfer was going. It was so nice to finally show her our 7 week ultrasound!
Describe your experience with Idaho Center for Reproductive Medicine.
If you're even considering a consultation, call. I think the hardest part of the whole process is waiting. It was roughly 4 months between our first call and starting the IVF cycle (due to a temporary short staff). I believe that is pretty standard for most fertility clinics but I can only attest to our own experience. I felt greatly at ease knowing the entire staff is vaccinated as I was extremely careful to not get sick throughout the procedure as I did not want any delays due to illness.
Describe the costs associated with your care under Cristin Slater at Idaho Center for Reproductive Medicine.
Our grand total for 2 IVF cycles, PGT testing, and FET cycle was around $24k. This included about $8k total in meds for all cycles, $9200 for IVF, $2300 for FET, $900 for genetic testing, and the rest included lab work, anesthesia, and other procedures not included in the cycles.
Describe Cristin Slater's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Idaho Center for Reproductive Medicine.
We only ever had one embryo, so the topic never even came up.

The hardest part of being his patient was that I knew he was popular, so we only saw him for embryo transfers and my biopsies.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Kevin Maas at Idaho Center for Reproductive Medicine?
Go in honestly, listen to Dr Maas, and ask a lot of questions. He’s very knowledgeable and helpful when IUIs and IVF can be very intimidating at first.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Kevin Maas at Idaho Center for Reproductive Medicine?
Dr Maas did such a good job at remembering our history and going out of his way to call and update me whether a treatment had failed or was successful. He even called me from his personal number on a Sunday one time to give me test results. I always felt heard and taken care of as his patient.
Describe the protocols Kevin Maas used in your cycles at Idaho Center for Reproductive Medicine and their degree of success.
We started with IUIs using donor sperm and Letrozole. Then we changed to Clomid. We then added in injectable’s, but after 4 IUIs nothing was working, so he recommended IVF. We did an antagonist protocol and I felt Dr Maas was very aggressive with the medications, which I appreciated since this was our only shot at an egg retrieval. After our egg retrieval we did a fresh transfer, which failed after I started bleeding 4 days after. He had me come in and start injectable progesterone to try and see if we could keep the baby but it was too late. We then did a FET with 2 embryos that failed, so Dr Maas recommended a full work up of testing. We did an ERA, receptiva, and EMMA/ALICE biopsies, which told us that I needed 24 hours more of progesterone. Once we did that, Dr Maas let me transfer another 2 embryos and now I’m pregnant with twins!
Describe your experience with your nurse at Idaho Center for Reproductive Medicine. (Assigned nurse: Zabrina K)
All of the staff at ICRM were always so caring and understanding. I don’t have a single negative experience!

Describe the costs associated with your care under Kevin Maas at Idaho Center for Reproductive Medicine.
IUIs we paid out of pocket- around $9,000. IVF we had Progyny insurance, so all we had to pay for was my biopsies which were $2,000.
Describe Kevin Maas's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Idaho Center for Reproductive Medicine.
Dr Maas let me choose while also giving me guidance and letting me know the risks. I’m so happy that we decided to transfer 2 since now I’m pregnant with boy/girl twins!

Describe the specific things that went wrong at Idaho Center for Reproductive Medicine.
Once I was pregnant, I had to call the clinic after 7 hours of waiting. A nurse finally got back to me, but I feel like I shouldn’t of had to call first when waiting for such important results.

Great communicator and always very responsive. He [Dr. Tobler] gave me hope that we would conceive and he also adjusted my treatment when he saw an opportunity...After our second IUI Treatment failed, we were preparing for our last one. He adjusted my medication slightly which in turn I ended up responding so well as I had many follicles. We decided to convert to an IVF cycle at a reduced cost. I ended up pregnant from that cycle with my twins...
Great team and setup within the site. Only drawback is that they [Idaho Center for Reproductive Medicine] don’t bill insurance for OB covered ultrasound and services even though my insurance covered it...In addition financial assistance wasn’t really offered so it would be nice if they gave patients options for financing like care credit etc. so people could get the treatment they need and financing all within the clinic...
How was your experience with Kyle Tobler at Idaho Center for Reproductive Medicine?
Great communicator and always very responsive. He gave me hope that we would conceive and he also adjusted my treatment when he saw an opportunity. I was very pleased with how thorough and efficient him and his office staff were.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Kyle Tobler at Idaho Center for Reproductive Medicine?
Go in with an open mind and listen to the advice of the doctor.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Kyle Tobler at Idaho Center for Reproductive Medicine?
Listened to me and responded to questions quickly
Describe the protocols Kyle Tobler used in your cycles at Idaho Center for Reproductive Medicine and their degree of success.
We initially started with the thought of doing three rounds of IUI treatment. After our second IUI Treatment failed, we were preparing for our last one. He adjusted my medication slightly which in turn I ended up responding so well as I had many follicles. We decided to convert to an IVF cycle at a reduced cost. I ended up pregnant from that cycle with my twins.
Describe your experience with Idaho Center for Reproductive Medicine.
Great team and setup within the site. Only drawback is that they don’t bill insurance for OB covered ultrasound and services even though my insurance covered it. I think they could do more to work with the insurance companies on this. In addition financial assistance wasn’t really offered so it would be nice if they gave patients options for financing like care credit etc. so people could get the treatment they need and financing all within the clinic.
Describe the costs associated with your care under Kyle Tobler at Idaho Center for Reproductive Medicine.
Because we covered my IUI cycle to IVF due to me responding so well to the drug change, I was able to do the IVF at half the cost of a regular cycle. I believe everything including ultrasound, retrieval, and IVF cycle cost approximately $4800 which was wonderful and affordable due to the discount.
Describe Kyle Tobler's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Idaho Center for Reproductive Medicine.
He went through the risks of multiple embryo transfers and due to my age we decided to transfer the two embryos.

Dr. Maas was incredibly personable and would answer all of my questions, no matter how trivial they ultimately ended up being. He would call personally to provide updates and took the time to explain everything without making me feel rushed...Trust his advice! If I had listened when he originally recommended IVF I would have saved thousands of dollars and a lot of time. He genuinely knows his stuff!...
I worked with several RNs and NPs [at Idaho Center for Reproductive Medicine] throughout the IUI process. All of them were stellar in their approach and knowledge...Each round of IUI was approximately $2,000 including meds. IVF and FET ended up costing approximately $15,000 including meds...The front staff and financial gals were very helpful and never made me feel like a number...
How was your experience with Kevin Maas at Idaho Center for Reproductive Medicine?
I was beyond impressed with Dr. Maas. In our first appointment he explained that IVF would give us the best chances of a pregnancy. I wasn't emotionally ready and he didn't push me. After multiple rounds of IUI I was ready to do IVF. I had gotten accepted to a study which was then delayed by COVID. When the study finally opened up again I ended up getting a cyst which disqualified me. Dr. Maas offered me a significant discount for his services for a standard round of IVF. Unfortunately, there were some unforeseen setbacks during the egg retrieval resulting in fewer eggs than expected. Dr. Maas was optimistic about the eggs that we did obtain, but also assured us that he would offer an even better discount if the results were unsatisfactory. By the grace of God, we ended up with six embryos, two of which were transferred. I am beyond excited to share that I am currently 12 weeks pregnant with a single baby. Dr. Maas is an excellent provider and I would recommend him to anyone going through fertility treatment.

Describe your experience with your nurse at Idaho Center for Reproductive Medicine. (Assigned nurse: Khiana and Zabrina)
I worked with several RNs and NPs throughout the IUI process. All of them were stellar in their approach and knowledge. It was so long ago that I can't remember the specifics, but I do recall that the one woman who I did not have a good experience with (I believe she was an assistant of some sort because I can't imagine she was an RN) was not with the clinic long and honestly all she did that rubbed me wrong was say that she would call me with results that day but didn't do so until the following Monday. Khiana was the coordinator for my IVF stim cycle and she was wonderful. She was effective in her communication and answered my questions promptly. Zabrina was my coordinator for my frozen embryo transfer and she was stellar. She was very personable and shared with me about her own journey with infertility, making me feel validated. She was an effective communicator and always called when she said she would.
Describe your experience with Idaho Center for Reproductive Medicine.
The clinic was always very neat and clean. They took special precautions during the height of COVID, which made me feel better about going there. The front staff and financial gals were very helpful and never made me feel like a number. I only have good things to say about the clinic
Describe the costs associated with your care under Kevin Maas at Idaho Center for Reproductive Medicine.
It was quite costly. Each round of IUI was approximately $2,000 including meds. IVF and FET ended up costing approximately $15,000 including meds and with a discount from Dr. Maas.
Describe Kevin Maas's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Idaho Center for Reproductive Medicine.
Dr. Maas did explain the options for embryo transfer, including the number her recommends and whether testing is advised. He shared that because of our ages testing wasn't a must. Because we didn't do testing we transferred two embryos, knowing the potential risks involved.

I mentioned before that there was one situation where a staff member told me she would call with blood test results by the end of day Friday but didn't do so until the following Monday. She did not work there much longer after that.

Dr. Slater did tell us that our chances of pregnancy would go up with a MET, which was totally cool with us...I appreciate it when she shares little bits of her life with us...She understands our desire for children and was very kind to us...Be prepared to hear her list off percentages, which isn't a bad thing. But don't be shy to just ask about the process instead...
I can directly call my [Idaho Center for Reproductive Medicine] care coordinators instead of having to talk with the receptionist at the front desk, who is busy and doesn't need to be bothered. I do wish that check-in was a little more private; for instance, I don't really want to know when a guy is there for a SA...Each cycle (including meds, USs) of FET came to about $5000.00..
How was your experience with Cristin Slater at Idaho Center for Reproductive Medicine?
Dr. Slater was very kind to us. It's obvious she's very smart and she did seem to focus on the percentages/figures quite a bit and spoke somewhat fast. We weren't as interested in the percentages, but more interested in the procedures and the potential for pregnancy, which, I get it - can't really be explained or thoroughly put out there without a bunch of average figures from other patients/studies. I appreciate it when she shares little bits of her life with us when we exchange the cultural greeting of, "Hello, how are you?" "I'm fine, how are you?" etc, etc. My ultimate goal at the fertility clinic is pregnancy, however, I sure do want to get to know the people who are on my team and not just treat them like providers, but friends on the journey with me; people I won't forget. I think that providers have a tendency to assume patients don't want to hear about their lives during an appointment because we've struggled with creating a culture of "me" "me" "me" all around us. At any rate, I appreciate the little tidbits of life that are shared and I appreciate Dr. Slater listening to us, too. :)

Zabrina and Maria have been fantastic members of our team. They are both very knowledgeable and very kind. They are quick to respond and are super flexible.
Describe your experience with Idaho Center for Reproductive Medicine.
It's a brand new building which is very nice, it feels clean and it's appointment rooms are private. The care coordinators, Zabrina and Maria are a great strength. Diane (billing) is fabulous and so caring. Dr. Slater is very knowledgeable and kind. I can directly call my care coordinators instead of having to talk with the receptionist at the front desk, who is busy and doesn't need to be bothered. I do wish that check-in was a little more private; for instance, I don't really want to know when a guy is there for a SA, (One time we were waiting in the lobby and we could hear the receptionist calling back to the clinical area that the TV in the sample providing room was broken and the guy was standing there waiting to go in, that was a little awkward). Of course, I can choose to treat this with a mature attitude, which I did, it was just a little strange, felt like we were in on something private/intimate that wasn't our business.

I've just had a few clerical errors that thankfully I knew were wrong. I simply contacted the clinic and they fixed it for me. Not a big deal. I also feel like I ended up doing a little more of the coordinating myself as far as meds go, but that's okay. It makes me in control and involved in my care :)

Kevin Maas is a wonderful doctor. He was always positive about the final outcome even when we had minor setbacks. He was willing to work with us financially and understands first hand what people with fertility issues are going through. It is bittersweet to move on to a regular OB for the remainder of our pregnancy. We plan to visit the office when we have the baby...always took the time to meet with me either in person or on the phone if I had any questions
The [Idaho Center for Reproductive Medicine] clinic is clean and friendly. They have a lot of appointment times to accommodate schedules. The doctors and nurses are willing to get on the phone with you when they have time between patients to answer questions. They will educate you and let you feel part of your treatment. As for a weakness, there was some trouble with prepayments wanted when you have insurance coverage and getting that figured out, although I understand that is rare.

The costs for fertility treatments is ridiculous, even with insurance. Last year alone I spent about $30,000 on treatments. The price of the medication is the worst.

Dr. Maas is very honest with which option he suggests and why. With our first transfer, we did a Fresh double embryo transfer because we did not test our embryos and I was just a few months shy of 40...We live out of state, so for embryo transfer to our surrogate, he Facetimed us and sent pictures to us afterwards. He also called to let us know how everything went. He has always been quick to respond to emails and questions we have
We loved the whole staff at ICRM. They were so personable with us. Everyone seemed to love their job and what they are doing, helping families. They are quick to respond to emails and answer questions you may have...For our initial egg retrieval and fresh embryo transfer in 2018 we payed $12,379 plus the cost of meds for myself and our surrogate. In 2020 for our transfer to our surrogate we paid $5,220 plus the cost of meds.
How was your experience with Kevin Maas at Idaho Center for Reproductive Medicine?
Dr. Maas went above and beyond for us. We live out of state, so for embryo transfer to our surrogate, he Facetimed us and sent pictures to us afterwards. He also called to let us know how everything went. He has always been quick to respond to emails and questions we have. He has shared his own story with us and he just makes you feel so comfortable and like a close family friend.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Kevin Maas at Idaho Center for Reproductive Medicine?
Ask him all your questions and trust him, even if it isn't what you want to hear. He is open and honest and has so much experience in what he does.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Kevin Maas at Idaho Center for Reproductive Medicine?
Dr. Maas was very detailed with us about the possibility of not being able to retrieve any viable eggs due to my age. He went thoroughly through my medical history and did extensive testing before we even started, just to make sure I would respond to the meds. He was always available to discuss any questions or concerns we had even after our surrogate was transferred to the OBGYN. He and ICRM continue to follow up even after the baby/babies are born to see how you are doing and often request pictures.
Describe the protocols Kevin Maas used in your cycles at Idaho Center for Reproductive Medicine and their degree of success.
I was on Menopure, HMG, Gonal-F, and Follistrum for egg retrieval. Our surrogate was on progestrone and estradiol for transfers. We were both on birth control prior to med start.

We loved the whole staff at ICRM. They were so personable with us. Everyone seemed to love their job and what they are doing, helping families. They are quick to respond to emails and answer questions you may have.
Describe the costs associated with your care under Kevin Maas at Idaho Center for Reproductive Medicine.
For our initial egg retrieval and fresh embryo transfer in 2018 we payed $12,379 plus the cost of meds for myself and our surrogate. In 2020 for our transfer to our surrogate we paid $5,220 plus the cost of meds.
Describe Kevin Maas's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Idaho Center for Reproductive Medicine.
Dr. Maas is very honest with which option he suggests and why. With our first transfer, we did a Fresh double embryo transfer because we did not test our embryos and I was just a few months shy of 40. We were blessed in that both took and we had healthy twin boys. For our sibling journey, Dr. Maas was willing to do SET or DET and left the decision to us and our surrogate. We decided on SET and that also took and we had a beautiful, healthy daughter. We had lots of questions both times, in trying to decide what was the best process for us. Dr. Maas gave us the statistics but kept emphasizing that for statistics there are those that are more successful and those that are less successful.

You can tell that she is passionate about her work and is focused on trying everything possible to successfully meet every patients want and need... I was very grateful that Dr. Slater advised me to stick with a single embryo due to delivering at 33 weeks with my first pregnancy. We went with a single embryo that was successful. I had a difficult pregnancy and would have delivered at 25 weeks if I was carrying multiples.
[The nurse at Idaho Center for Reproductive Medicine was] Caring and compassionate. Was very accommodating and always returned emails within the same day...[staff] Always let you know what to expect and the timeline ahead of time. Easy to get ahold of with any questions or concerns. Great at booking appointments around your schedule. Appointments were always on time and quick. Would take more time for appointments if you had questions or concerns. Always felt like I was getting the best care. Everyone knew me and addressed me by name, even after not being there for a year.

Dr Maas is a proponent of single embryo transfers...[he is a caring, relatable doctor. He is friendly but extremely knowledgeable and thorough in his explanations. He explains procedures as well as risks. He updates his statistics when appropriate to reflect the latest data...I had a long stim retrieval due to my age (then 41). Dr. Maas was willing to do a second retrieval but we chose to go to donor eggs instead.
The [Idaho Center for Reproductive Medicine] clinic is organized, clean, professional and caring. The only downside is that they are extremely busy. So appointments take a while to get. Long wait times between cycles due to packed schedules can seem like an eternity...Between 1 retrieval, 1 shared donor cycle, meds, and 4 FETs, I suspect we spent about $50k

He [Dr. Maas] gave us honest odds that led us to make a decision on our treatment. He decided based on my medical history not to use medication even though we asked for it. He was certain we didn’t need it. He was right...He didn’t seemed rushed, was honest but delicate, and helped us with his own experience in infertility. I also never felt shamed..
I think our unmedicated IUI procedure was less than $1000...The only negative [at Idaho Center for Reproductive Medicine] is how hard it is to get people to call you back. When you’re dying for answers it’s hard to wait! Otherwise they were always kind and helpful. They seemed genuinely interested in seeing us conceive and helping us in any way...

Dr. Tobler always gave us every option and let us decide on what our course of action was. If he didn’t agree he’d respectfully explain why he didn’t agree and if we still wanted to go the course we chose he gave us the option to continue...He answered all my questions and showed that he cared constantly even when he was no longer my doctor. He was still willing to give advice and check in on me to see how we were doing.

I only met Dr. Slater herself a couple of times but each time I did, she always thoroughly explained what was happening and never made me feel like I couldn’t ask questions no matter how “dumb” they may have been...[she] preferred to transfer 1 embryo over 2 but I was adamant on 2...at the end of the day, it was my choice and I did feel like Dr. Slater still supported me.
They were very detailed and very organized. I loved how easy they made it to keep track of all of my appointments and medication time and doses with color coordinated calendars...ICRM pays very good attention to detail. They make sure you never leave their clinic confused. They assure that you understand every aspect of your treatment. I was very fortunate to have everything work for me on the first try. The best tool ICRM has that helped me sooo much was their 24 hour nurse line. I can’t tell you how many times I called them frantically and they always were able to calm my nerves

My insurance covered 15K flat. I paid roughly 20K out of pocket
Describe Cristin Slater's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Idaho Center for Reproductive Medicine.
Dr. Slater preferred to transfer 1 embryo over 2 but I was adamant on 2. I was given a 65% chance of having a successful pregnancy if I transferred one. That chance increased to 80% if I transferred 2. The chance of both taking was 30%. Both took! I did end up delivering at 29 weeks gestation. Twin pregnancies come with many risks of complications which is why Dr. Slater preferred to only transfer one, but at the end of the day, it was my choice and I did feel like dr. Slater still supported me.

He had a strong preference on using 1 embryo in our transfers...Dr Maas is one of the kindest, most pleasant doctors I’ve ever had the pleasure to meet. He never made us feel like we were just a number in the fertility world...I appreciated his honesty and expertise on the matter and it made it easier to make the choice..
I think the [Idaho Center for Reproductive] clinic has a great team. They are all very knowledgeable about their individual positions but also have a good understanding of the entire process. I’m thankful we have such an amazing clinic located in Boise and we didn’t have to travel to get great care!..Overall between our egg retrieval, fresh transfer and frozen transfer (including meds) we spent about $25000
How was your experience with Kevin Maas at Idaho Center for Reproductive Medicine?
Dr. Maas was amazing. We felt so lucky to be paired with him. After our first appointment for the initial consultation, it just felt right. And when he told us we were only candidates for IVF and nothing else, I was glad it was him because he has both a great “bedside manner” and is also extremely professional.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Kevin Maas at Idaho Center for Reproductive Medicine?

I think the biggest one I remember was his counseling on using just one embryo at a time. I appreciated his honesty and expertise on the matter and it made it easier to make the choice. Truthfully it’s been long enough since doing both our fresh and frozen transfer that I don’t remember too many specifics. I trusted him and his staff with the treatment plan lined out for me at the time of each transfer and both transfers were successful!

Describe Kevin Maas's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Idaho Center for Reproductive Medicine.
He had a strong preference on using 1 embryo in our transfers and I’m thankful we followed his advice. Our fresh embryo transfer resulted in one healthy baby girl and our frozen transfer of just one embryo resulted in identical twins. I think if you are working with high grade embryos it makes sense to transfer one so you don’t risk multiples as much. Multiple pregnancies are high risk and have a higher chance of problems for the babies or the mothers or both.
