This is the most recent data from the CDC. The CDC cautions that it should not be used to compare doctors and clinics. This data represents the outcomes of IVF cycles when using a person's own eggs.
For more information please see our FAQs.
Where you see a “?” on the chart, a clinic has done fewer than 20 cycles in this category and age range, so the CDC says showing percentages from this small data set would be misleading and unreliable.

Describe the protocols John Couvaras used in your cycles at IVF Phoenix and their degree of success.
We haven't had the opportunity to start treatment because we hit a financial snag with being able to be approved for IVF treatment. We started out being coved by my insurance until the beginning of the year came and benefits had reset. At that point my insurance was not going to cover the treatment. So, we had to take care of the rest on our own. Dr. Couvaras had a financial plan put together for us, but we were still having trouble getting financed and 401k wasn't an option for us. We are still waiting and trying to figure out other avenues to get the money to finish the treatment.

My experience has been great and I look forward to getting treatment done and the success of having a baby! As a new patient I just advice to ask all the questions you may have. They can only provide with what they have and know you may need. If you think there are things they may not go over, asked questions!

Dr. C’s [Couvaras] office was warm and inviting ... he made me feel like I mattered ... he recommended new medications put me on a schedule to enhance or increase my chances ... he had me to understand risk factors and also the differences and test that he was running versus one that I previously had ... he also explained the risks with wanted to implant a double transfer versus a single transfer and what the risks would be both with and without the double transfer I appreciate his knowledge his expertise and his demeanor in office setting
they [IVF Phoenix] are more than equipped to handle every single mean you have for IVF journey ... they [nurses] were more than helpful when I needed assistance in locating medications or supplements that were recommended by the doctor and how I could receive them the cheapest way possible ... I just really like the quality of care that is given and provided in this office setting

Describe John Couvaras's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at IVF Phoenix.
Being that I transferred double with a prior Re: I had an early loss of one and then resulted in a 25 weeks stillbirth so I wanted to get those chances back and potentially transfer a double again when I explain this to my RV he suggested we try single if we have a healthy euploid and I am healthy and we would decrease the risk being that a double transfer only increased pregnancy by about 5% but the risk of double pregnant double transfer would increase the risks involved with pregnancy and itself this could be preterm this could be so many other factors with multiple pregnancy and also depending on the amount of eggs that I have to even start with what I burn up my eggs and not have any for a second transfer if needed then I would have to re-Stearman collect all over again so the rest for me outweighed my wants and we’ve decided to go with a single euploid versus a double transfer
Dr. Couvaras is very knowledgeable when it comes to curent advancements in infertility treatment. He is also very cautious and meticulous not like other doctors who just repeat the same thing again and again hoping that the embryo will implant in the next try. He was very honest as well when he said that since all my results looked good, a frozen transfer should have worked. When it didn't, we proceeded with another egg retrieval and he suggested to do a fresh transfer, which I never did in my previous clinic. The fresh transfer was a success.
They [IVF Phoenix] are open early so I can schedule my appointments prior to work. They also perform all the procedures from egg retrieval, embryo transfer and embryo preservation in house unlike in other practices...Excellent staff and they truly care for their patients. It was a delight to work with the staff in this clinic...Dr. John Couvaras and the staff of IVF Phoenix took the time to run all the tests and understand what is the reason behind our infertility instead of just diagnosing it as unexplained.

Dr. John Couvaras and the staff of IVF Phoenix took the time to run all the tests and understand what is the reason behind our infertility instead of just diagnosing it as unexplained. He also took the time to explain what each test is for and what the numbers correspond to. In my previous clinic, my TSH numbers didn't alarm my fertility doctor. Dr. Couvaras put me on medication to regulate my TSH and also treat my antibodies. He explains the plan in detail making me feel more involved and secure in proceeding with the treatment.

He's very straightforward and to the point. Was very detailed in his questions starting from back to when I received my very first period.we were very surprised to have met with dr. Kavouras himself on our very first consultation and the amount of time that he spent with us was incredible. he really felt like he was trying to get to know our particular situation instead of just treating us like he would treat every other IVF patient.
So far what we have experienced is good. Everyone [IVF Pheonix] seems knowledgeable and friendly ... They ask me to get my progesterone checked on a specific day which happened to be a Saturday. I need the appointment on Saturday like requested however the lab did not have my orders so I was not able to get them completed.I had to call the office on Monday and let them know the situation. Less than set my orders over immediately

Dr kavouris definitely speaks more medically than he does in layman's terms but only seems confused he had a good way of explaining it. He's very straightforward and to the point. Kavouras himself on our very first consultation and the amount of time that he spent with us was incredible. he really felt like he was trying to get to know our particular situation instead of just treating us like he would treat every other IVF patient.we feel he's very revolutionary and his approach to IVF and his understanding of endocrinology and the woman's body made us feel extremely comfortable. when trying to have a baby you want your IVF doctor to be compassionate and understanding of the struggle.this is not the type of doctor you want to go to that is not compassionate considering the type of medical issue this is.this type of treatment is very emotional and personal to each and every family and to have a doctor that understands that and truly cares makes a huge difference. And in the same respect you want a doctor that really knows his stuff. The amount of knowledge he had was great

During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with John Couvaras at IVF Phoenix?
Dr kavouras took the time to dig in and ask pertinent questions that the other doctor did not ask. My first meeting at IVF Phoenix was with the actual doctor at dr. Troche that was not the case. Dr kaporis took time and explaining why this system could or could not work but also gave us some hope for the future. he spent a considerable amount of time with us at our first consultation which we had not received with the doctor prior.

Dr Couvaras is the most knowledgeable doctor I have ever met. He doesn't immediately jump to IVF, he is determined to find the underlying problem and fix our issue before wasting our time and finances. We enjoy each appointment we have with him, he's straightforward and hopeful, we can hear the hope in his voice that he has for us.... Give him your time. Dr Couvaras thinks outside of the box and runs any and all necessary tests to find the underlying problem as to why you're not conceiving naturally.
I haven't noticed any weaknesses with the clinic since arriving to IVF Phoenix. The staff is very welcoming, professional, and timely. They make sure my husband and I are comfortable, aware if there is any wait time and will double check on any concerns, or questions I have for Dr. Couvaras... The nursing staff seems to be very sweet, organized and knowledable.... At each appointment we are warmly welcomed by Dr C, and he gives us as much time as we need to discuss our plan. We never feel rushed and we certainly don't feel like a number.

Dr. Courvaras has a unique method that I appreciate and have learned so much about my body and the fertility process. He is very knowledgeable. He won’t do anything if it’s a waste of time. He wants to be successful just as much as the patient. He also performed two uterine fibroids surgeries for me. I have had three prior surgeries and his were by far the best. Also, the best thing about those surgeries was how excited the staff at the surgerical center was that he was performing the surgeries. That was cool and I thought it said a lot about him.

How was your experience with John Couvaras at IVF Phoenix?
I was recommended to the best doctor named Dr. Couvaras by an OB, for us to become pregnant after 11 years of trying. When I meet doctor Couvaras he had a plan for us. We agreed to proceed with IVF, the plan was to prepare the embryos and freeze them after. After couple of months past, it took us 7 months later to do the transfer. In the beginning I was skeptical about the process because I was wondering why was it taking so long for us to do the transfer. But, it was Dr. Couvaras professionalism and best of his knowledge that he would do his very best that if I wasn't giving him the best results when I was getting treatments then he would prolong the process because he told me that as long as I am not giving him the best results then he will continue to work on me and figure out what to do next. He stated that I would a plethora of medication and he even mentioned that my medication area should look like a elderly human countertop.😄He was right, I thought to myself. He knew exactly what he was doing. Because after 7-8 months later we were ready to do the transfer. Alot of emotions came to my mind which I believe that is a natural feeling. Dr. C gave his very best to work on me and knew exactly what to do. When it was time for my pregnancy results, I was crying out loud of joy. After weeks later my first ultrasounds went wonderful. I learned that Dr. C truly cherish what he does and gives it his best knowledge to work with his patients to give the best final results he looks forward to. I don't find a weakness on Dr. Couvaras because I've been to other places and doctors for treatments for IVF and IUI's and they were a waste of time and money. But, Dr. C gave his FIRST best shot and thankfully we are finally PREGNANT and extremely happy after 11 years of infertility.

Describe your experience with the nursing staff at IVF Phoenix.
All the above they are all wonderful. I appreciate that they are extremely responsive right away for any questions or concerns. I lost count on how many times I would messaged them. Which they would respond right away mostly Mary, I would see her name in the bottom of the message and thats how I would knew who would be messaging me back. Also, during the weekends her name is Taylor, she is the clinical manger and during the weekends she would be there to answer after hours and during weekends emergency. Which I appreciate her because mostly on the weekends it's when something will happen to me or a situation where I would contact her and she truly knows how to handle the situation. There was a time I would never forget that on a Saturday morning. I was around 6 weeks pregnant and when I woke up I was bleeding so I panicked and contact her right away. Then, I took her advice and remained calm and I did what I was told. The following Monday my baby was doing well and nothing to worry about. She's an angel. When walking into the clinic I absolutely love how they all know me and treat me with care and respect. Lindsey and Keelin did my ultrasounds and I appreciate that they were able to explain the questions I had and I was able to learn as I go. Erin is wonderful as well she would answer the question I had for the doctor or made sure I would get an answer back right away. Also, she is a great listener. I know I missing some of the other names but all I have to say is that they are all beyond wonderful.
Describe your experience with IVF Phoenix.
The clinics strength is that they are all extremely responsive to text messages which I absolutely like and to the phone calls as well. Also, having a patient portal is great because they let you know right away if any changes or notes been sent to me. Communication is very important and they are on top of that as well. Honestly, I can't think of any weaknesses.

Medication over the counter, ivf, testing, tranfer, ultrasound, co-pay, specially Medication, with insurance all together around 8,000- 9,000 or more because I am on blood thinners injection for the rest of my pregnancy until I am due.
Describe John Couvaras's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at IVF Phoenix.
What amazed me is that of all the eggs that were captured and only 1 single transfer reading 3BB was the best. Even though my egg quality was 25 eggs and 15 fertilize and 2 survived reading 3BB and 4CC. Dr. C investigated what he can do to keep the 3BB alive in me before doing the transfer. That's why it took 7-8 months to work on me.
