This is the most recent data from the CDC. The CDC cautions that it should not be used to compare doctors and clinics. This data represents the outcomes of IVF cycles when using a person's own eggs.
For more information please see our FAQs.
Where you see a “?” on the chart, a clinic has done fewer than 20 cycles in this category and age range, so the CDC says showing percentages from this small data set would be misleading and unreliable.
Majority of my visits with Dr. Kathiresan was done virtually....I was assured that even though our visits are virtual, she is attentive and was able to assess my situation based on my blood work and ultrasounds...during the saline sonogram, we realized my cervix dips down and it makes it hard for the catheter to get to the uterus. She suggested that we add a stitch to my crevix so during the FET, she can tug on the stitch to make my cervix straighter and for the catheter to easily go in...

How was your experience with Anupama Kathiresan at Kindbody - Los Angeles?
Majority of my visits with Dr. Kathiresan was done virtually. It did feel a little distant in the beginning but throughout the course of our journey, I was assured that even though our visits are virtual, she is attentive and was able to assess my situation based on my blood work and ultrasounds. She is empathetic, compassionate, and personable during our phone calls and virtual visits- which I appreciate.
I did 3 egg retrievals with Kindbody and all 3 was performed by the doctor who was operating that day. During my 3rd retrieval, we noticed that my right ovary is hard to get to and they noted it in my chart. Prior to the retrieval, Dr. K assured me that it is noted in my chart and the Dr. operating that day is well aware. That retrieval was the one that got the most eggs- so I do believe the doctors talk amongst each other to prep each other.
Prior to the FET, she suspected that my uterus has a uterine polyp after viewing one of my ultrasounds during the egg retrieval process. I saw Dr. Kathiresan in person for my saline sonogram procedure and she is the same in person- personable, attentive, kind, and reassuring. I'm so glad that she did my saline sonogram because it was like a mock FET transfer; during the saline sonogram, we realized my cervix dips down and it makes it hard for the catheter to get to the uterus. She suggested that we add a stitch to my crevix so during the FET, she can tug on the stitch to make my cervix straighter and for the catheter to easily go in. She patiently went through all our options for the FET (adding a stitch or some patients are put under general anesthesia), discussed the FET process in detail, answered all my questions and addressed all my concerns. Adding the stitch to the cervix is something new that we've never heard and she explained that she learned this while practicing in Texas. It was common at the last clinic she practiced at and less so here. She also said she's done it quite a bit which is reassuring. We decided to add a stitch to my cervix during my hysteroscopy surgery.
For my FET, the clinic unfortunately had a water leak and we could not perform the FET at the clinic but rather at a 3rd party clinic. That sent my anxiety through the roof. Dr. Kathiresan called me and reassured me that the whole team (her, the nurse, and embryologist) will be there and make sure the clinic has everything they need and set up properly. I was still nervous because it is a different environment for the team and there is sooo much room for human error but the FET went smoothly and I can't thank Dr. K enough for reassuring me and making sure everything was under control. Dr. K was calm the whole time and that calmed me down as well.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Anupama Kathiresan at Kindbody - Los Angeles?
I understand Dr. Kathiresan has a lot of patients and sometimes, I have to remind Dr. Kathiresan of our last conversation. She does double check my chart during our conversations just to be sure.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Anupama Kathiresan at Kindbody - Los Angeles?
I first met with Dr. Kathiresan in Q4 of 2022. Our communication at the start of our journey to my egg retrievals (consultation, planning our protocols, discussing our results, discussing next steps, etc) was done virtually. Though it felt a little distant in the beginning because everything was done virtually and it was my nursing team who did all my check ups (bloodwork & ultrasounds), every time I talked to dr. Kathiresan, she answered all the questions and addressed all our concerns with a warm approach- which I appreciate. Sometimes, you'd want a for-sure answer but after going through multiple rounds of egg retrieval and having different results every time, you just realize nothing is 100%. Dr. Kathiresan was able to tell us the pros and cons with each protocol and her own success rate/experience with each and that helped us assess and plan for the next protocol.
The nursing team is also amazing- every time I walk into the clinic, I am greeted warmly. The nurses and I have gotten to know each other and they're super friendly and welcoming. I also like their patient portal- it was convenient and I was able to message my care team right away where they would respond by the end of the day.
Describe the protocols Anupama Kathiresan used in your cycles at Kindbody - Los Angeles and their degree of success.
My first protocol was a follicular phase protocol with estrogen priming. The estrogen priming gave me really bad migraines for days and it was debilitating. Dr. K explained that it is common as it's the same hormone that causes headaches during your period. If you're likely to experience headaches or migraines during your period, you'll most likely experience the same during estrogen priming. The migraine went away after day 3. I started with 150u menopur, Gonal-F 225u then increased to 300u on day 5, Omnitrope 35u, Ganirelix, and triggered with Lurpon and Novarel. 7 eggs retrieved, 3 fertilized, 2 blasts, and 1 PGT-A Euploid.
I wanted to go into the 2nd ER right away so Dr. K suggested we do a Luteal Phase protocol (this is after I ovulate). I was on Clomid 10mg for 5 days, Provera 5mg for 10 days, Menopur 150u, Omnitrope 35u, Gonal-F 300u, and triggered with Lupron & Novarel. During my monitoring, we noticed my right ovary was hard to get to and we retrieved 4 eggs, all 4 fertilized, 3 blasts and 3 PGT-A eupoids.
For the 3rd ER, we decided to go with the same protocol as the 2nd ER yieled the best results. We kept everything the same and we retrieved 13 eggs, 9 fertilized, 7 blasts, and 1 PGT-A euploid. Unfortunately, the 3rd ER yielded the worst results out of the 3 even though we copied the 2nd ER protocol exactly. This is when we realized science is never 100% and it really does differ each time.
Describe your experience with the nursing staff at Kindbody - Los Angeles.
The nursing staff is amazing! They are super welcoming, attentive, caring, friendly and kind. Every time I walk into the clinic, I am greeted warmly.
My blood draws are fairly painless (I'm not afraid of needles and blood draws do not scare me so it might be different for others). During the ultrasound, they show my what they're looking for and explain what they see which I really appreciate. During my ultrasounds when we check if the follicles have grown, they share the sizes with me right away so I feel assured we're right on track. If I have any questions, they'll answer it to the best of their ability or they will check with the doctor and I always get a response by the end of the day.
I can access my team through the patient portal and it's very convenient. I find it easier than calling them and I like to have the paper trail in my portal with all my questions and concerns.
Describe your experience with Kindbody - Los Angeles.
The clinic is very new and modern. I met with a few fertility clinics prior to starting my IVF journey and a few reasons why we decided to proceed with KindBody was because their clinic was more modern and their online portal makes everything super convenient. My results are uploaded into my patient portal right away and I can access my team (dr, nurse, billing, insurance) through the portal. If anything needs to be discussed on the phone, they can easily schedule a 15min call with the doctor as well.
KindBody has 2 offices-- Century City and Santa Monica. I did all my blood work and ultrasounds at Century City and all procedures that require an operating room (egg retrieval, hysteroscopy, saline sonogram) was done at the Santa Monica clinic. Century City is very nice because it's located in the mall and Santa Monica is nice but the homeless situation in LA overall is getting out of hand so I get a little scared walking from the parking lot to the clinic.
Describe the costs associated with your care under Anupama Kathiresan at Kindbody - Los Angeles.
Our fertility benefits through our insurance covered up to 20k, which was 2 cycles of ER. We paid $13,100 for a 3rd ER cycle+ 2 FET. Genetic Testing was $2880 each cycle (so multiply by 3 since we did 3 ER).
All lab work and diagonstic (ultrasound, blood work, consults) was covered by insurance after we met our deductible and out-of-pocket max.
What specific things went wrong at Kindbody - Los Angeles?
Provided conflicting information
Describe the specific things that went wrong at Kindbody - Los Angeles.
I received conflicting instructions for 2 of the medications.
During the estrogen priming stage, I received instructions from the nurse through the message portal to take the medication orally. On my dashboard (the first page you see when you log on), it said to take the medication vaginally. The nurse had to correct the dashboard.
For my trigger shot, I received instructions from the nurse through the message portal for both pregnyl and novarel (depending which one you received from the pharmacy), and she called to double confirm. During the call, I realized the instructions were different from the portal. We clarified which was correct and I'm glad she called to double check so we avoided a potential mishap with meds.
Dr. Brower was knowledgeable and patient with me. I tried three IUIs with kindbody that were not successful and when IVF was suggested my partner and I were not ready. When we were, Dr Brower answered our questions and gave us the time and information we needed to move forward in a way that was comfortable for us and our plan was of the utmost importance to Dr Brower because it was important to us. She was wonderful to work with
[Kindbody is] Accommodating, compassionate, welcoming, and beautiful! No weaknesses that I can recall; everything and everyone is incredibly organized and helpful. I would recommend coming to Kindbody a few minutes early for your apts bc the Santa Monica location can be tough to park...They were very upfront about costs beforehand, but my insurance has a special fertility benefit so I believe I paid a much smaller amount after insurance was billed than a traditional out of pocket patient

Dr. Brower is brilliant, cautious, thorough, warm, attentive, and thoughtful. I couldn’t have asked for more in a doctor. As someone who often feels anxiety in doctors offices, I never felt anxious around her and found her presence so comforting. We had a surgical procedure performed and she was the perfect balance of professional and compassionate...She remembered the details of our case every time and was never mixed up. When we “graduated” she gave us both big hugs.
Kindbody is beautiful and peaceful and doesn’t feel like a sterile doctors office at all. The front desk was on top of things. We never had a long wait, and I have no complaints about how the office was run. We always got prompt responses and results from our team including phone calls from the doctor, going above and beyond. I have had a history of passing out when giving blood. The nurses here talked to me and made me feel so comfortable in addition to providing me with snacks and juice that I had no issues, even when I had to give 8 vials on one visit! I had never had such an anxiety free blood draw. It was very significant for me.

Wasn't able to see her at every visit (my issue, not hers, because I had to come super-early for work) and she [Dr. Brower] called me every afternoon to talk about results. Was wonderful about being to able to both make her own recommendations on how I should proceed but also give me the space to make my own decisions. So warm and reassuring during ER process (my first time getting any kind of procedure)
[Kindbody has a] Beautiful office. Nice online setup with teaching, education, ways to monitor meds and progress. Easy to communicate with staff and make appointments. Everyone is super-professional and friendly. payment easy to figure out and prices are clear...$6500 procedure + approximately $4000 meds..

How was your experience with Holly Mehr at Kindbody - Los Angeles?
Coming completely out of left field, at twenty-nine I found out I have a genetic problem that might affect my own fertility as well as the health of my future children. Feeling apprehensive, my fiancé and I began creating embryos under the supervision of Dr. Mehr. Emotionally she gave me exactly what I needed providing hopeful optimism without giving me unrealistic expectations for success. She demonstrated patience with my steep learning curve, taking the time to explain complicated concepts and my options. Also, she paid attention to my individual reactions to the medications. This meant that even though I enjoyed more success in the first round than anticipated, Dr. Mehr adjusted her protocol for the second round and doubled the number of blastocytes that successfully grew to day 5! I cannot recommend her enough.

Dr. Armstrong really takes time to talk to you and has amazing bed side manner. I felt like I was in such good hands with Dr. A...one of the best doctors I've ever worked with. Kindbody is the most calm and welcoming space. The staff is patient and warm upon entry to departure. There’s a nurse or two I’d avoid, but 90% are 10/10. My husband felt equally as comfortable and I welcomed every visit...Egg retrieval, PGT testing, FET.

1 of my failed attempts was with Dr. Armstrong and she was compassionate, caring and empathic to my feelings of loss...No 2 of my attempts had the same protocol...will keep you well informed at all stages...had a bright and cheery bedside manner...I have an auto-immune disorder
Santa Monica Kindbody has easy parking, it is clean and the staff are professional...front of desk gals are extremely warm and welcome...ultrasound nurses and bloods nurses are all absolutely fabulous...Some days it could be anywhere up to 30-40min wait other days you could be seen pretty much immediately
How was your experience with Abigail Armstrong at Kindbody - Los Angeles?
The only reason I saw another doctor outside Dr. Armstrong was because she was on maternity leave for a period of time. 1 of my failed attempts was with Dr. Armstrong and she was compassionate, caring and empathic to my feelings of loss. I truly felt like she knew the best next steps for my care. No 2 of my attempts had the same protocol, which made me feel like my concerns and pre-existing conditions were taken in to consideration. It was reassuring to me that we adapted to what may not have worked the prior time.
I am luckily now pregnant, I felt like Dr. Armstrong was as happy as I was with the news. It was really refreshing to feel so cared for by a doctor.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Abigail Armstrong at Kindbody - Los Angeles?
Dr. Armstrong will keep you well informed at all stages. For me it really helped being upfront about my pre-existing conditions (I have an auto-immune disorder), this helped Dr. Armstrong come up with the best protocols for me. There was an anomaly found during the course of my tries, I was comforted that Dr. Armstrong consulted her peers for full confirmation on the best path forward. Know that she will have your best interest at heart and do everything to help you whatever outcome you are hoping for. She will always be honest with you.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Abigail Armstrong at Kindbody - Los Angeles?
Abby was extremely warm and caring. I felt fully informed at all times. She had a bright and cheery bedside manner. I would gladly recommend her to anyone.
Describe the protocols Abigail Armstrong used in your cycles at Kindbody - Los Angeles and their degree of success.
I don't remember the specifics of each, but I know after the culmination of the initial 3 failed attempts we found a protocol that worked really well for me, that suited my emotional stability and managed my pre-existing conditions to end the best possible outcome. One of the rounds was the butt injections, these did not suit me at all and made me quite emotional. For the three other tries we stuck to meds not shots.
Describe your experience with your nurse at Kindbody - Los Angeles.
She was diligent with her communication and very responsive. I didn't see her too often in clinic as I typically just saw whichever nurse was free if I needed to speak with some one. In general, the nurses seemed really busy. More specifically after the Century City branch shut down, so I don't think there was much they could do about this. Some of the nurses were extremely caring and warm, some a little less so.

It is a small thing to remember peoples names but so nice when you are paying quite a bit of money for all these procedures. The ultrasound nurses and bloods nurses are all absolutely fabulous. Always have a smile on their face and you can tell they really care about their jobs and their patients. When I finally got pregnant I felt so so cared for by near everyone in the clinic. I may be unique in the fact that I am doing it solo, but the level with which nearly everyone seemed genuinely happy for me was so heart warming.
Describe your experience with your monitoring appointments at Kindbody - Los Angeles.
It was hit and miss depending on the day. There was definitely a spike in how busy it was after the Century City branch closed down. Some days it could be anywhere up to 30-40min wait other days you could be seen pretty much immediately
Describe the costs associated with your care under Abigail Armstrong at Kindbody - Los Angeles.
Obviously this is not a cheap process to undertake. Some bills were sent to me in error where I had already pre-paid. Prior to signing contracts I would advise reviewing all add-ons that you are opting in to. Ask for clear communication as to which additional labs are being leveraged that you can expect additional billing from. For the most part everything made sense and was well described but there were a few times I was unsure.
Describe Abigail Armstrong's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Kindbody - Los Angeles.
I opted for descending order of the "best" quality embryos, so I don't think this applies to me.
Dr. Armstrong always provided me with the best care and information when I would visit or message her. I never felt scared to ask questions as it was also a learning process for me and my body. She definitely made the egg freezing process less nerve racking for me and made me feel confident about my decision overall. I would have never thought of wanting or needing to do this process if I never initially met with her!
Kindbody's strengths was definitely their communication, detailed information given, compassion towards their patients, careful care, and attentive appointments. I honestly don't really have any weaknesses to say for them, my experience was wonderful...The entire care team and nursing staff was wonderful. They were always a joy to speak with on my visits and always made sure I felt comfortable. Everything was always very efficient and quick as well which I appreciated

What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Abigail Armstrong at Kindbody - Los Angeles?
Ask as many questions as you want because it can be a lot of medical information to take, so asking away will only benefit you throughout the process and most importantly just trust the process! It can be a lot at once so taking everything one step at a time and know that it is most definitely worth it in the end. Each and every employee truly cares for you and your well being, it almost felt like my second home during the process! (in a good way)
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Abigail Armstrong at Kindbody - Los Angeles?
Dr. Armstrong was always so personable and attentive when we met and answered any questions I had very thoroughly. I always felt a great level of comfort with her!
Describe the protocols Abigail Armstrong used in your cycles at Kindbody - Los Angeles and their degree of success.
It was very helpful to receive messages everyday in the Kindbody portal with video instructions for each dosage/medication and detailed instructions for each day. I also was required to take a blood thinners throughout the process and Dr. Armstrong would check in with me to make sure I wasn't having any reactions. They cared for me very closely which I greatly appreciated!

Describe the costs associated with your care under Abigail Armstrong at Kindbody - Los Angeles.
My treatment cost was very low due to my company's partnership with Kindbody!
Dr.Brower always took the time to listen to our concerns and questions, and to clearly and thoughfully get us answers...so kind, compassionate, and helpful throughout the process...always approachable, always made it seem like we mattered to her...neither IUI transfer worked, and it was my partner and I that elected to move to IVF
Of the dozens of people we met [at Kindbody - Los Angeles] from the front desk staff to the techs drawing blood to the after hours team - everyone was incredible...only two weaknesses with Kind body: 1) The billing is a bit confusing...one specific ultrasound tech...
How was your experience with Meredith Brower at Kindbody - Los Angeles?
Some of the strengths Dr.Brower showed early on was the understanding of what we wanted and the timeline we wanted it to happen on. She never tried to make it seem as though we "weren't needing to be in a rush" or that we were moving to slow. She was always approachable, always made it seem like we mattered to her, and always checked in on how we were feeling which is so important. There are no weaknesses with Dr.Brower. We did a total of 3 transfers and 1 egg retrieval. She did one of the IUI's and the IVF transfer. She made sure we had the same physician do our second IUI and our egg retrieval since she couldn't be there. We loved everything about how she handled our care!
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Meredith Brower at Kindbody - Los Angeles?
I would just tell them to not be nervous to ask questions! Dr.Brower always gave us as much time as we needed, no matter how many questions we had.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Meredith Brower at Kindbody - Los Angeles?
Dr.Brower always took the time to listen to our concerns and questions, and to clearly and thoughfully get us answers. She often told us she would get us references to things we'd asked for "as soon as she could" which almost always was within minutes of our call/appointment ending. She was so kind, compassionate, and helpful throughout the process and always made us feel safe and comfortable. She is EXACTLY the kind of doctor we were looking for in that we always felt we understood our options and her advice, while never feeling like we were pressured any which way. She was just an absolute dream and we're truly sad to not be in her care now that we are switching to an OBGYN! We look forward to working with her again some day when we are ready for number 2!
Describe the protocols Meredith Brower used in your cycles at Kindbody - Los Angeles and their degree of success.
Our first IUI was unmedicated. Our second IUI was a bit more complicated because the follicle growth was happening slower than it had the previous month, so she put me on some meds to help stimulate, and was conservative about how much she gave to not overdo it. When they didn't work immediately, we upped the dosage and got where we needed to be. Unfortunately, neither IUI transfer worked, and it was my partner and I that elected to move to IVF (Dr.Brower did not make that determination for us) and so we were on the regular course of meds needed for a successful transfer...and it worked!
Describe your experience with your nurse at Kindbody - Los Angeles. (Assigned nurse: Michelle Glatz)
We never met our coordinator Michelle personally as she worked from home. She was always very to the point and would get us answers when she could. We did have trouble keeping track of which days she was off and seemed to always have questions on those days, but our questions always got answered! We dealt with Michelle early on in the process and then besides letting us know which meds to administer, and when, we didn't have much contact with her.
Describe your experience with Kindbody - Los Angeles.
Something that was so valuable to me was that early on in our process, when we were just doing all of our scans to get prepared for transfer, we had an issue getting some info we needed from a scan and the initial instinct of the PA-C that we had seen was to just send us to another facility for a different scan. She did this because she didn't want to put me at any discomfort trying the scan again that day, but when my wife and I asked for their opinion and if we could try one more time (so that we didn't have to schedule/pay for/and wait for results from a different facility) not only did the Kind body provider, without hesitation, agree to try again, but she brought in another physician to assist and make sure we got it right. Between Natalie (PA) Dr.Mehr, and our ultrasound tech Emma, we felt so taken care of and so validated when it all worked out. This just goes to show how much the providers value their patients and really have the common goal to help! There are only two weaknesses with Kind body: 1) The billing is a bit confusing. Often, things would show up in my portal that I'd already paid for, or that were at a different rate than I was quoted, or that were showing as being owed when my insurance had already covered it. I am diligent about looking through costs, so I was able to manage by messaging the team, but for someone that's not as organized and thorough, I could see them accidentally paying for things they didn't need to pay for. The only other weakness is one specific ultrasound tech. Of the dozens of people we met from the front desk staff to the techs drawing blood to the after hours team - everyone was incredible except this one lady who had no bedside manner. At a fertility clinic, emotions already run so high, so taking the extra step to be kind and explain things goes a long way.
Lastly - because I don't know if I'll be asked specifically about the ultrasound techs - our FAVORITE person we dealt with was Emma Mattsson. She is absolutely exceptional!! So kind, so encouraging, so knowledgable, so patient, and we truly feel like she was our guardian angel during this process. What a special person. When she found out we were pregnant, she actually cried with us. There is nothing more special, in those really hard periods when it doesn't work, and then in those really exciting moments when it works but you're still nervous something might happen, having someone like Emma on your side is so important. She is a true gem.
Describe the costs associated with your care under Meredith Brower at Kindbody - Los Angeles.
Our insurance did not cover any fertility treatment so our IUI was around $3500 each cycle and our IVF was around $24,000 which includes 2 transfers. Our first transfer worked so we would use the second transfer for the second go around!
What specific things went wrong at Kindbody - Los Angeles?
Dr. Mehr is an empathetic physician who takes the time to clearly explain everything in detail. Any questions I had were promptly answered, she was willing to listen and adjust treatment to my needs. I had quite a bit of anxiety because of prior chemical pregnancies. She allowed me to come into more scans to ease my anxiety and answered any questions I had in regards to treatment...did an excellent job of thoroughly explaining any questions I had and did so in a manner that was easily digestible and realistic.
For the most part, I would recommend Kindbody to any of my friends, family, or acquaintances. Their system is efficient and I had no issues trying to get ahold of scheduling, nurses, and my doctor. My biggest issue was with some faulty lab work...Everything else about Kindbody was great, the scheduling was super easy, and the nursing team, the ultrasound technicians, and the Doctors were all great. Not to mention the office is beautiful and chic. There were many times when I was in the waiting room when random people came into the clinic thinking it was a spa because the interiors were so beautiful.

Describe your experience with your nurse at Kindbody - Los Angeles. (Assigned nurse: Michelle)
Overall Michelle was nice and did her job sufficiently. She had a bad attitude when I was trying to get ahold of her to determine when to take my medications ( a time-sensitive issue) and scolded me saying she doesn't work every day of the week. However in my experience with using the portal to get ahold of her, if she was out of office a different nurse would respond in her thread. She was offended when three days later I was trying to get ahold of a different nurse because she didn't respond. I have nothing but amazing things to say about all the other nurses in the office! They were extraordinarily kind and made each in-office visit a pleasure.
Describe your experience with Kindbody - Los Angeles.
For the most part, I would recommend Kindbody to any of my friends, family, or acquaintances. Their system is efficient and I had no issues trying to get ahold of scheduling, nurses, and my doctor. My biggest issue was with some faulty lab work. For some reason, my labwork showed a faulty blood clotting issue (antiphospholipid), after repeat blood tests and being sent down a rabbit hole to a hematologist it was found that I didn't have any blood clotting disorders and that it was faulty labwork. Dr. Mehr was great and raised this issue with the appropriate factions at Kindbody to make sure this doesn't happen with another patient. (Apparently, I wasn't the only patient who had their Antiphosolipid panel flagged incorrectly) In all, this put my transfer schedule 2 months behind. Luckily I have great insurance because the extensive blood work panel I had to do because of the lab error was in the thousands and had to be done with a specialist. Everything else about Kindbody was great, the scheduling was super easy, and the nursing team, the ultrasound technicians, and the Doctors were all great. Not to mention the office is beautiful and chic. There were many times when I was in the waiting room when random people came into the clinic thinking it was a spa because the interiors were so beautiful.

Describe the specific things that went wrong at Kindbody - Los Angeles.
I had one appointment that somehow disappeared, However, when I noticed and called, Kindbody was great and scheduled me for my original appointment time.
Doctor Kathiresan met with me via Zoom to walk me through egg retrieval. I know she was probably tired that day or has done this speech a lot so her energy level was low but to be expected. I did not meet her at the clinic during my visits but we communicated on the portal often during my treatment. She always provided prompt updates after every cycle visit which I appreciated. And always walked me through changes.
Kindbody is a dream fertility clinic. They have their process down pat. You meet with the doctor virtually. They have a Head nurse on staff at all times you can drop in during cycle visits. During cycle visits, you go every other day for treatment. They are 15 minutes and include a scan and bloodwork. Everyone knows their job and does it well...The nurses at Kindbody Santa Monica were great! Communicative, timely, friendly, and efficent.

I did not meet her at the clinic during my visits but we communicated on the portal often during my treatment. She always provided prompt updates after every cycle visit which I appreciated. What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Anupama Kathiresan at Kindbody - Los Angeles?
She's a portal queen! Message her on the portal and she'll get back to you quickly. Never sit in doubt. Always send a message.

Doctor Kathiresan always wrote to me in a timely manner because she knew communication was key in the egg retrieval process and our relationship.
Describe the protocols Anupama Kathiresan used in your cycles at Kindbody - Los Angeles and their degree of success.
I did 13 days of stimulation drugs versus the standard 8-10 days which meant I had to reorder my stimulation drugs twice during the procedure. In those 13 days, my dosage changed multiple times for each medication. Dr. Kathiresan walked me through all these changes. I also had worried about having PCOS since I had an Ovarian cyst in high school that burst and during one of my cycle visits they thought they observed a cyst and thought ultimately it was a dominant follicle but during the egg retriveal procedure the doctor said it was in fact a cyst. Dr. Kathiresan walked me through a typical PCOS diagnosis has three parts and I really only showed 2 of the 3 signs because I had normal periods. It was helpful to understand for my fertility health.

Describe the protocols Anupama Kathiresan used in your cycles at Kindbody - Los Angeles and their degree of success.
Due to my age (41) and the fact that we only had 1 healthy embryo viable for FET, Dr. Kathiresan advised a daily Lovenox shot until 6 weeks of pregnancy and Progesterone in Oil every other day until 10 weeks of pregnancy. She also advised Estradiol (oral am/vaginal pm) and Endometrin (vaginal - 3x) daily until 10 weeks of pregnancy. The Progesterone in Oil was incredibly painful for the first few weeks but it really helped to warm the shot under an armpit or in a warm hand prior to injection. Firmly massaging the injection spot was also very effective in spreading out the medication. This course of treatment resulted in a confirmed pregnancy, now over 12 weeks.
Describe your experience with the nursing staff at Kindbody - Los Angeles.
The in-clinic nurses were fantastic. Sabah and Melissa did a majority of my blood draw appts and were extra patient with my Trypanophobia (fear of needles). The care coordinators were also very good but I would have preferred having a consistent go-to for medications and communication in the portal.
Describe your experience with Kindbody - Los Angeles.
Kindbody is a fantastic clinic. From the moment you walk in the door, it is very welcoming and doesn’t feel like a traditional doctors’ office. The waiting room feels more like a lounge and they provide water, juice, tea and snacks for patients. I went to appointments in both Santa Monica and Century City. The Century City location is in the mall so I didn’t like the crowded parking garage at certain times of day but the clinic itself is wonderful. The new Santa Monica location was more convenient for me, especially as I was always able to find metered street parking.
Describe the costs associated with your care under Anupama Kathiresan at Kindbody - Los Angeles.
IVF Freeze all with PGTa $16,000
IVF Medications prior to retrieval and after transfer cost about $7,500-$8,000
Fetal Embryo Transfer $4,400
There were also $25 office visit costs for the Ultrasounds and Blood Draws
Describe Anupama Kathiresan's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Kindbody - Los Angeles.
My employer fertility benefits through Carrot only covers single embryo transfer for the safety of the patient. Dr. Kathiresan and I never had to discuss her approach to eSET because it was never my intention to transfer more than 1 embryo.
Dr. Kathiresan was very knowledgeable and made a complicated process very easy to follow...was patient and understanding...provide a better understanding of the process...luteal phase egg freezing...was always able to hop on the call to discuss any detailed questions or concerns
appointments [at vKindbody - Los Angeles] were relatively quick and very efficient. The billing was a little odd, but I was never overcharged, just sometimes delayed...Everyone was cognizant that I am bisexual and not partnered, so people were respectful and not assuming of my situation
How was your experience with Anupama Kathiresan at Kindbody - Los Angeles?
Dr. Kathiresan was very knowledgeable and made a complicated process very easy to follow. She was patient and understanding. It’s honestly fascinating how little women know about their own cycles including myself and Dr. Kathiresan literally filled in those gaps to provide a better understanding of the process. I was very grateful to have her as my doctor.

We ended up going with a luteal phase egg freezing after a few months of delaying the procedure due to lower than baseline follicle counts. This ended up being 100% the right move for me because I was less emotional and my count was higher.
How competent was Anupama Kathiresan at LGBTQ+ care?
Everyone was cognizant that I am bisexual and not partnered, so people were respectful and not assuming of my situation with I appreciated

Traffic! But just ask to adjust your appointment times accordingly. Parking was free within certain time limits, the appointments were relatively quick and very efficient. The billing was a little odd, but I was never overcharged, just sometimes delayed
Dr. K was very attentive and acknowledged and heard my goals and she was really there every step of the process. I felt like she genuinely cared about the outcome of my egg freezing and I was very grateful to her guidance...She went through everything thoroughly and ensured I understood everything. She also continually checked in on me to make sure I was okay...She met with me several times during my cycles. During the last cycle she was actually there for my retrieval.
Great, responsive clinic [Kindbody - Los Angeles] I felt like everyone knew me there and I mattered. Really enjoyed everyone there from reception, ultrasound techs and nurses. I think that sometimes the response times weren't as fast as I'd like just because I wanted immediate answers but they got back to you within 48 hours...Loved my nursing staff as I said Yadira and Julie were the absolute best.

First protocol was Luteal and that didn't garner great results for me, I had 11 eggs retrieved and 3 were mature. The last cycle we did estrogen priming and I was hyper stimulated and we got 27 eggs and 19 were mature.

Describe the costs associated with your care under Anupama Kathiresan at Kindbody - Los Angeles.
My company paid for my kindcycles. I think my out of pocket expenses were roughly 1200 for the first round and 895 for the second.
Dr Mehr for more than a year...undertook sperm analysis, two IUIs, and two rounds of IVF, the second of which resulted in a pregnancy...was on our side completely, offering excellent advice...without ever pressuring us about what steps to take next...proactive about changing things up and pushing for better results
Kindbody's Santa Monica clinic was welcoming, well organized and made what can be a challenging and uncomfortable process feel much more approachable. Everyone who works there is kind and friendly, and small things like the front desk staff remembering your name made a difference.
How was your experience with Holly Mehr at Kindbody - Los Angeles?
My partner and I worked with Dr Mehr for more than a year. During that time we undertook sperm analysis, two IUIs, and two rounds of IVF, the second of which resulted in a pregnancy. Throughout this experience it felt like Dr Mehr was on our side completely, offering excellent advice gleaned from her vast knowledge of the fertility world, but without ever pressuring us about what steps to take next. She provided reassurance and emotional support when the road got tough, particularly after a chemical pregnancy during our first round of IVF, and always reminded us there was a path forward and reasons to be hopeful. She was proactive about changing things up and pushing for better results, and I know we wouldn’t be where we are today without her brilliance. I would absolutely recommend trusting her with your care.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Holly Mehr at Kindbody - Los Angeles?
Ask her to explain all your options - even the ones you aren't considering yet. We came into this process unsure if we were going to do IVF; Dr Mehr explained everything in such a clear and accessible way early on that it made the choice to do IVF feel much less daunting when we got there.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Holly Mehr at Kindbody - Los Angeles?
From the outset of working with Dr Mehr, it felt that she was genuinely on our team and would do whatever it took to help us achieve our goal of pregnancy. She is a fantastic listener and teacher who gives you her full attention and makes sure you understand what a process will involve before you get start.

Kindbody's Santa Monica clinic was welcoming, well organized and made what can be a challenging and uncomfortable process feel much more approachable. Everyone who works there is kind and friendly, and small things like the front desk staff remembering your name made a difference.
Dr. Mehr is kind and thoughtful...doesn’t pull any punches and tells you how it is...friendliness and genuine demeanor...she walked us through everything to expect and what we would find out at each stage...checked in with us along the way after PGT testing...Definitely appreciated the eSET approach (it was our only option but still)! I would have been more concerned about multiple embryos for sure.
Strengths [of Kindbody - Los Angeles]- friendly staff in the office, great ultrasound technicians, nice facilities...Weaknesses - inconsistent experience between patients (I have a friend who is doing this at the exact same time and we had different experiences)...inconsistent communication from Kindbody nurses that weren’t on site...disappointed by the remote nursing team in terms of proactive communication
How was your experience with Holly Mehr at Kindbody - Los Angeles?
Dr. Mehr is kind and thoughtful. She doesn’t pull any punches and tells you how it is. I appreciated her friendliness and genuine demeanor. I definitely trust her expertise.
From the first consultation where she walked us through everything to expect and what we would find out at each stage. She checked in with us along the way after PGT testing and was in our corner at each turn.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Holly Mehr at Kindbody - Los Angeles?
Don’t be afraid to ask questions! Dr. Mehr never made me feel silly for asking questions however big or small they were. She would give me information and often more information that helped me feel informed.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Holly Mehr at Kindbody - Los Angeles?
Dr. Mehr was a pleasure to have as my doctor. She gave me information every step of the way and not just her opinions but the research and facts. I definitely felt taken care of as a whole person.
Describe the protocols Holly Mehr used in your cycles at Kindbody - Los Angeles and their degree of success.
The only protocol I could comment on is the estrogen dose before transfer. I think Dr. Mehr tried something a little different than her normal process due to some new research and it didn’t have the results expected. It wasn’t a blocker it was just a different timeframe then expected but either way we got a successful lining thickness and were able to do the transfer soon after
Describe your experience with your nurse at Kindbody - Los Angeles. (Assigned nurse: Michelle)
I felt there was very inconsistent communication from Kindbody nurses that weren’t on site. There wasn’t really someone shepherding us through the process and I had to reach out alot to ask for information or next steps. It’s probably why I appreciated Dr. Mehr when we did get to connect with her but I was disappointed by the remote nursing team in terms of proactive communication.
Describe your experience with Kindbody - Los Angeles.
Strengths - friendly staff in the office, great ultrasound technicians, nice facilities
Weaknesses - inconsistent experience between patients (I have a friend who is doing this at the exact same time and we had different experiences), wish there was an East side LA location (we drove an hour at least for every appointment)
Describe the costs associated with your care under Holly Mehr at Kindbody - Los Angeles.
Unsure, we were lucky to have full insurance coverage. Minor co-pays applied ($65/appointment, $20 for medications)
Describe Holly Mehr's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Kindbody - Los Angeles.
