Dr. Lane is very compassionate and I felt very safe in her care. I saw her for the consultation, egg retrieval and frozen embryo transfer. She has great bedside manner. She is straight up with you so aren't left guessing... very personable and you will feel like family by the time your done...We froze all of our 13 embryos to let my body heal up since I had 30 eggs. Dr. Lane did not want to risk OHSS...
The only weakness this clinic [Lane Fertility Institute] has is it took a few calls to get to schedule my first consultation. All of the staff are incredibly kind and helpful! The clinic is in a very quiet and easy to find area with plenty of free parking...Megan [nurse] was a pleasure to work with. She was my main point of contact for my treatment. Get your finances in order because treatment is expensive but so worth it!

Dr. Lane is very personable and you will feel like family by the time your done.
Describe the protocols Danielle Lane used in your cycles at Lane Fertility Institute and their degree of success.
I was on birth contol pills for a few weeks. Then I was on stims for 11 days. I was on 300 of Gonal F, 75 of Menopur, and cetrotide for the last few days of stims. I triggered with one shot of lupron. 36 hours after the trigger shot we had my egg retrieval. We froze all of our 13 embryos to let my body heal up since I had 30 eggs. Dr. Lane did not want to risk OHSS. Once my cycle started I started birth control on CD2. I continued the birth control pills until I had my baseline ultrasound and bloodwork and go the go-ahead to start estradiol injections twice a week. 5 days before my frozen embryo transfer I started 1 mL of Progesterone in oil daily. The day of my transfer I started daily 200mg progesterone suppositories. I will continue these medications through 10 weeks of pregnancy.

Megan was a pleasure to work with. She was my main point of contact for my treatment. She would respond to emails 24/7. She was very kind and compassionate. she was there for everyone of my appoints and procedures. She is very knowledgeable about the whole process and medications.

The freeze all egg retrieval with ICSI was $15,000 plus $280 for a Zymont chip. My medications for the retrieval were $5,500. The frozen embryo transfer is $7,000. The medications for the FET were covered by my insurance so I only had to pay $20 for copays.

Scheduling an appointment was easy [at Lane Fertility Institute]. They were speedy in calling me back and getting an appointment for my preferred location and time of day was also easy. The were responsive in sending me the needed paperwork and charging the agreed-upon amount. Everything went smoothly...I had 1 conversation with the care coordinator Vivian and she was personable and kind as we discussed donor egg options and followed up with emails and was responsive to questions.
How was your experience with Danielle Lane at Lane Fertility Institute?
Dr. Lane presents as knowledgeable and friendly and there's something I appreciate about her plainspoken and direct approach. On the otherhand, she is also rather blunt and does not take a hope-based approach to fertility; instead, she speaks in facts and figures. I believe she tries to be kind but unfortunately, she lacks skills of attunement and sensitivity and a warm bedside manner, which I believe is needed in this profession (especially when sharing fertility-related news). While I appreciated her realistic assessment in terms of guiding me in the probably right direction in the long run (donor eggs), I wish she had delivered the news much more gently and with more sensitivity. I still have mixed feelings about her guidance: On the one hand, her refusal to pursue IVF with me might save me money in the long run (and she thus appears trustworthy), I do wonder why she was so discouraging when 2 other doctors I consulted with (even after some levels got worse) were much more encouraging of trying to use my own eggs.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Danielle Lane at Lane Fertility Institute?
Be prepared for her bluntness and directness. Be prepared to ask her to slow down by a lot and to repeat herself. She speaks very quickly and has a hard time slowing down. If you are looking for someone to hold hope for you to have your own children, you may want to consider a different doctor. If you are looking for a doctor who will give it to you straight and not create false hope, she might be the one for you.

She also moved over the facts very quickly and her swift speech again showed that she has little awareness of emotions and how being dysregulated does not allow us to take in information well.

I only consulted with Dr. Lane once. Based on my hormone levels and antral follicle count, she advised me to forget IVF and pursue donor eggs. I did not start treatment with Dr. Lane but decided to seek out a second and third consult and am still weighing my options.

I had 1 conversation with the care coordinator Vivian and she was personable and kind as we discussed donor egg options and followed up with emails and was responsive to questions. (We did not have much contact overall, so I can't write much.)

My issues are with their medical management: refusing to give a refund when no medical services were ever rendered and after they insisted I pay up-front...I researched an experimental fertility treatment and was told up front that I had to pay $5,500 before I could make an appointment.

Fair enough...I canceled the appointment well before the cancellation notice cut-off so I would be able to get a full refund. Then Covid hit and I never got a cent, despite emailing with her office several times. Thank goodness I charged the $5,500 to my credit card because they pursued it and I got my money back from them.

Consider going elsewhere. It's hard to trust a physician who would collect a chunk of money upfront and then not return it when services were canceled and never rendered with no explanation. She may be a terrific doctor--I hope she is-- but if she is, why is her practice suffering so she cannot refund $5,500? That is a big sum to me but it should be small for a successful medical practice.

My advice-- if you go here, pay with your credit card for back-up insurance, they seem to have cash flow problems. I cannot speak about the medical care because I did not have any medical treatment. I had a good experience and my expectations were met....Dr. Lane herself is quite personable and energetic; I liked that it was basically a private practice rather than a large impersonal clinic (she had one other MD, Dr. Agard working with her at the time who has since moved to another office, she was also great to work with). After a few failed tries with my own eggs I moved on to donor egg, which she was able to facilitate; the whole thing seemed to happen quite quickly from the time I made the decision to go this route. I ended up with beautiful amazing twins who are now 2 1/2.
She has a small practice [Lane Fertility Institute] (although with multiple locations), the office calm and serene (did not feel crowded or hurried). Office staff were warm and friendly, Dr. Lane was friendly and positive.... I liked that it was basically a private practice rather than a large impersonal clinic (she had one other MD, Dr. Agard working with her at the time who has since moved to another office, she was also great to work with).

I worked with Dr. Lane about 3-4 years ago; I was 42-43 at the time. I have a medical background and knew the odds against success going in. One of the biggest reasons I initially chose her was convenience; she has an office in Novato which was close to my workplace at the time. Her office was very quiet and calm, with the reception area almost spa-like. Her office staff were cheerful and accommodating. Dr. Lane herself is quite personable and energetic; I liked that it was basically a private practice rather than a large impersonal clinic (she had one other MD, Dr. Agard working with her at the time who has since moved to another office, she was also great to work with). After a few failed tries with my own eggs I moved on to donor egg, which she was able to facilitate; the whole thing seemed to happen quite quickly from the time I made the decision to go this route. I ended up with beautiful amazing twins who are now 2 1/2 (which is why I don't have as much time to respond to emails as I used to)!

She [Dr. Lane] gave me information that I later found out was completely inaccurate. She I never saw her during the cycle and I felt like I might as well have not been monitored as she did not nothing to help when there were problems with the cycle... seemed set on IVF within 5 min of meeting me.

She was very sweet but a terrible communicater we were using a known donor and she had a very difficult doing basic coordinating I suspect some of it had to do with the Dr. The whole cycle was a mess and waste of time. She also gave me info that was just not accurate.

We were using a known donor dr lane told us that in order To use fresh sperm he would have to be tested and examined within 7 days of the IUI (I later found out that in the state of CA that is not the case) we agreed but from the beginning it was clear she wanted me to spend a ridiculous amount of money to freeze his sleek because it would be "easier" I was not willing to lower my chances by freezing the sperm and I was not going to spend $1200 to do it. The cycle was long I ovulated much later than normal. The point of monitoring is to make adjustments treatment to achieve the best results she did nothing . They did not time the testing correctly so my donor had to come in again to have it done. After going through the bloodwork and exam he was told it was prob too late anyway and he would have to return to freeze sperm the following day. None of this was communicated to me the patient even though I had been in the office earlier that day. No one said a word.. The donor is not supposed to really get any info. It was handled terribly. Why waste his time with another exam when they knew it was too late. Dr lane also told me only a crazy person would give me injectable drugs my only option would be ivf. She [Dr. Lane] is personally smart, dynamic, and very competent...I was looking for a fertility doctor who was expert at their work, relateable as a human being, and results-oriented. I was not looking for a spiritual or touchy-feely process or provider. Dr. Lane was perfect. It was always a pleasure to see her and her staff.... She was straightforward and to the point, but also always a pleasure to see (friendly, charismatic, very knowledgeable but also relateable). She was willing to explain as much or as little as we wanted to know (my husband loves the details, I am usually fine with an executive summary).
We did at least one round of IUI (maybe more?) at [Lane Fertility Institute] her clinic in Novato, which was larger and more like a surgery center. I appreciated the SF office for convenience, but it was small...our only really negative experience had to do with confusion around billing, related to a non-medical employee, and I think that has been fixed...Watch the bills carefully. Our only negative from this process (besides the fact that we were in it) was some confusion over billing. I don't think Dr. Lane was doing anything nefarious, but the back office billing person made a number of mistakes.

Watch the bills carefully. Our only negative from this process (besides the fact that we were in it) was some confusion over billing. I don't think Dr. Lane was doing anything nefarious, but the back office billing person made a number of mistakes. I think the person was let got, so this could be a non-issue now, but it taught us a good lesson. It's really too bad, because she's a great doctor (and why should a doctor also have to be a business manager?). That said, she took our concerns very seriously and acted on them, and we would absolutely go back to her again.

It was a busy practice, but I always got the appointments I needed on a schedule that worked for us. The nurses and front office staff were warm, friendly, and efficient. Our only negative experience was around some back-office billing issues, and I believe the person responsible has been let go.

It has now been a few years so the details are fuzzy, but I think we did 3 cycles of clomid plus timed intercourse, 3 cycles of injections, and then three cycles of IUI. This was the mandated protocol from our insurance-- had that not been a factor, I think Dr. Lane would have been as aggressive as we wanted. I had a successful pregnancy (singleton) from the third round of IUI, though I had been anticipating beginning IVF in the next cycle.

On most visits I worked with one nurse (Brenda?) who couldn't have been nicer or more competent. There was sometimes another nurse (can't remember her name) who was younger, also excellent.

Dr. Lane is busy-- running 2 or 3 clinics. I did not have a problem getting to see her when I needed to, but she was often running right from there to another site. Dr. Lane will always chose to transfer the highest grade of embryo, especially if PGS/PGD has been done. She does not pressure you to do anything you do not want to do, and gives you scenarios surrounding each decision.

How was your experience with Danielle Lane at Lane Fertility Institute?
I liked Danielle Lane until I later realized she lied to me about the cost and reimbursement of my IVF treatment. I was approved by my insurance to pursue IVF and they would cover it. Danielle Lane still refused to bill my insurance and forced me to pay out of pocket saying I could claim reimbursement after through my insurance. I later found out that the insurance companies have specific contracted amounts with Dr's saying each treatment is a designated cost. Therefore, I only received $4,500 back from insurance when I paid $15,000 out of pocket. Danielle Lane knew the contracted amount and jut didn't tell me. Omission of the truth equals lying in my book!

She assessed my age, risk factors, did tests and health screenings to ensure that I was ready to carry. I did rounds of shots, egg retrieval, and implantation. She was there for support the entire way for my case. I did not get pregnant, but hope to pursue surrogacy.

The staff is supportive, especially when consistently working with you. They have changes in staff sometimes that ebb and flow. I'd say the anesthesiologist is good, if they listen to the doctors preference for each patient.
