This is the most recent data from the CDC. The CDC cautions that it should not be used to compare doctors and clinics. This data represents the outcomes of IVF cycles when using a person's own eggs.
For more information please see our FAQs.
Where you see a “?” on the chart, a clinic has done fewer than 20 cycles in this category and age range, so the CDC says showing percentages from this small data set would be misleading and unreliable.
Dr. Hayes was very professional, she was gentle with her exams but wanted to start off slower then we would have liked. When my ex husband and I divorced, I made an appointment with Dr. Hayes to continue with donor sperm. It was at this point that I felt judged.... If you are part of a couple you should be fine but I wouldn't recommend going to her if single... I underwent surgery to correct a blocked fallopian tube. We then proceeded with 6 IUI's all with clomid and 2 with injectables. I was diagnosed with low ovarian reserve
The clinic [MI Comprehensive Fertility Center] was older and didn't have a nice waiting room that made you warm , cozy and comfortable. The exam rooms were separated by a bathroom. This made me a little nervous incase someone walked in from the other room as there weren't locks on the bathroom doors and they were sliding doors that always stay shut. The front desk was friendly enough but nothing like I would have hoped for the type of doctor I was seeing.

The nursing staff was rude for the most part. When going over information regarding IUI's and IVF they seemed almost irritated when I would ask questions. The ultrasound technician was very friendly and compassionate

This made me a little nervous incase someone walked in from the other room as there weren't locks on the bathroom doors and they were sliding doors that always stay shut. The front desk was friendly enough but nothing like I would have hoped for the type of doctor I was seeing. Dr. Hayes did her consultations in her office which was very messy and seemed to be out of order. She did a good job explaining things to us at our first visit and we left with very high hopes of having a bundle of joy. We were dealing with a blocked tube and low ovarian reserve in myself and male factor infertility in my husband at the time. She didn't do a very good job at explaining the results of his semen analysis. Luckily his sample was taken at a different facility and they did a fantastic job explaining the analysis. We started off just taking clomid for one cycle and then moved to clomid and IUI for 4 cycles. Then we did another 2 cycles of IUI with a trigger. All of them resulted in negative pregnancy tests. I wish that she would have suggested more aggressive medications to help with fertility or possibly even save our money from the IUI's to use on IVF. As someone that struggles with infertility you just put so much hope into things working out that I didn't stop to think about that at the time. I just put all of my faith into my physician and the procedures working. You will do anything to come up with the money to try to have a baby and I believe the clinic knows this and rather then trying to work with patients they draw the process out to make more money. I would not recommend Dr. Hayes.

At the time I had Blue Care Network that covered 50% of the IUI cost. I did have to pay out of pocket for the surgery to correct my blocked tube and pay for all of the medication, ultrasounds and some of the blood work

I had to go for a repeat blood draw after the office called me and said that they didn't mark one of the tests that was supposed to be done. I also requested my medical records be sent to myself and another physicians office and they were never sent.
I felt he [Dr. Jones] was a good doctor and we had 2 successful pregnancies with him...Nothing was pre-planned, it was all based on how I was responding to the meds both times. I got 18 eggs at my retrieval, all fertilized, the best 2 were a fresh transfer day 3. 7 more embryos made it to day 5 and were frozen. I had one failed frozen cycle 2 years later-birth control, lupron and vaginal estrace. 2 months after that tried only oral estrace and had a successful frozen cycle.
[the nurses at Michigan Comprehensive Fertility Center] Always called with every result, were very organized and always kept in close contact with my doctor for everything. Any question the would answer or get answered for me immediately. Very compassionate in a delicate situation...$20,000 including medications, ultrasounds, retrieval and fresh transfer. About $4,000 (each transfer) for meds and transfer for the 2 frozen transfers. Only thing covered by insurance was lab draws and some of the ultrasounds.
How was your experience with Gary Jones at Michigan Comprehensive Fertility Center (closed)?
First time we met he told me I was the "best case scenario" only issue seemed to be blocked tubes. Everything-testing, medications, procedures went as described. Had a successful fresh transfer of 2 embryos and a successful transfer of a frozen embryo 2 years later. Always professional.

Easy to make appointments with, early times available to work with work schedules. Always very clean and organized. Ultrasound techs were very kind and professional and informative. On my first transfer, he recommended 2 be transferred for higher success rates, however, he gave the option to only transfer one. I had no complications with the pregnancy until I had premature rupture of membranes and my twins were born at 31 weeks. When we went for the frozen cycle, it was suggested to transfer only one embryo due to my previous preterm delivery although gave the option to transfer 2 if we wanted.
Dr Magyar always shakes my hand and makes eye contact, askes me how I'm feeling, and tries to make me feel at home. He will crack small little funny "dad jokes" and I really like that. He always introduces his assistant. He never makes me feel bad for asking a question or pushing him to answer in more detail. He gives you the answers bluntly but it's very caring about your feelings.... My husband and I went into our first appointment with Dr Magyar together. He asked us both questions and explained things so that we both understood.
They [Michigan Comprehensive Fertility Center] always seem to have a variety of appointment times and days. They are open 7 days a week, 365 days a year. They have before work appointments and you don't don't need an appointment for blood work, you can just walk in and it takes about 5 minutes! Someone's I wish I could get more answers or face time with my doctor, but Debbie makes up for that with her very great answers... she always answers my questions with longer better answerers that I could or imagined.
How was your experience with David Magyar (retired) at Michigan Comprehensive Fertility Center (closed)?
My husband and I went into our first appointment with Dr Magyar together. He asked us both questions and explained things so that we both understood. He made us both feel very comfortable. Or first appointment was a sit down in his office, looking over past tests my OBGYN requested, including the semen analysis. He explained what his treatment would include and why. Then he performed a vaginal exam, wrote me a prescription and sent us to the financial office to talk about treatment pricing. After my initial appointment, we did 2 rounds of Femara with no luck, so I had my Femara check up appointment. That included another vaginal exam and a 5 minute q&a. After that, another prescription for 2 cycles. After not ovulating during those 2 cycles, I received a cycle day 16 ultrasound and trigger shot.

I started out in 5mg of Femara. We would try that for 6 months then switch to IUI if that is something my husband's and I wanted to try. After the Femara stopped working the way he planned, I got an ultrasound and trigger shot. I had a follower that was mature, but had not released by cycle day 16 so they wanted to force it out.

Dr. Hayes took time to meet with me and answer all my questions. Unfortunately, I never received the results I hoped for ...I believe Dr. Hayes dragged out the IUIs...I was prescribed clomid (50mg) in combination with IUI. Then 100mg clomid with IUI. Then 150mg clomid with IUI. I tried Femara 3 times with IUI. I don’t remember the dose. I tried injectables after that, Gonel F twice. All 8 cycles included a trigger shot.
The clinic had a great reception staff. Bloodwork was done in the office on most days but it was inside a hospital so there was a lab. A weakness was paying $3 to park everytime we went....The nurse gave me the wrong day for an IUI....When I wanted to switch clinics, it took 2 attempts for my file to be sent. This was after going in and signing the release form...Some staff was great to work with; others had no personality.

During one of my IUI cycles, the nurse provided me the wrong day for the IUI. Because my husband went the day we were told and left his sample, we ended up doing back to back IUIs (having to pay for both).
One my last cycle at this office, I had a miscarriage and the nurse did not show any compassion. In the same call she told me I was miscarrying, she asked me if I wanted to be scheduled to jump into the neck cycle!

A weakness was paying $3 to park everytime we went. On the day of an IUI, my husband would pay in the morning when he went to give him sample and then we would pay again when the IUI was preformed. Infertility is expensive enough, you shouldn’t have to pay to park your car.

Each IUI, with ultrasounds, bloodwork, meds, and washing of the sperm was around $1,000. We spent nearly 8 grand. Knowing what I know now, I would not have spent that much on IUIs.

The nurse gave me the wrong day for an IUI. We were told a Saturday so my husband went in early to leave his sample. Only a receptionist was there. She told him he was supposed to be there the next day. My husband said I was told today. She said well, I’m not sure so leave your sample since you’re here. Of course I heard this and freaked out. If my peak day for fertlization is Sunday, we didn’t want to use up his best swimmers, but too late. The nurse ended up talking ya into back to back IUIs, both of which we had to pay for.
When I wanted to switch clinics, it took 2 attempts for my file to be sent. This was after going in and signing the release form.
Dr. Magyar had a soft, gentle demeanor and he seemed to really care about my outcome. He remained optimistic and never seemed rushed. He shared stories with me (both related to fertility and not) and was very personable.
I felt like my care coordinator [at Michigan Comprehensive Fertility Center] was invested in my care and followed my case closely. But, you still have to pay attention because different nurses see you or call you for various times and they sometimes get the wrong information so you have to keep up with things.
How was your experience with David Magyar (retired) at Michigan Comprehensive Fertility Center (closed)?
Gentle and soft demeanor but confident. I always left feeling hopeful - and like he was invested in getting me pregnant. He thoroughly explained things to me and often told me anecdotes or past success stories - sometimes related to me and sometimes just to make me smile. I never doubted that he knew what he was doing and that he had been doing nothing but this for years and years so I could trust his plan.

He's quiet but GOOD at what he does. It may be hard for some but the walls are lined with baby pictures from his patients -- there are hundreds and hundreds. He knows what he is doing.

I felt like my care coordinator was invested in my care and followed my case closely. She was genuinely excited for me when I became pregnant and it was obvious to me that she was very involved behind-the-scenes in following my case and coordinating my care more than I ever saw.
But, you still have to pay attention because different nurses see you or call you for various times and they sometimes get the wrong information so you have to keep up with things. For example, I over-responded to medication one month and the next month a nurse told me to use the same dosage. I questioned this and she immediately went to my care coordinator who corrected her immediately and I started on a lower dose.

I over-responded to medication one month. The following month a nurse told me to start on the same dosage of that medication. I questioned it as it did not make sense to me. She talked to my care coordinator right away and she corrected the directions as I was supposed to start on a lower dose. If I had not questioned it, it may have been a blown cycle due to over-responding again.
Dr Hayes takes her job seriously and I trust her judgment. She pioneered ivf in Michigan. My only concern is that she may not be keeping up with the most up to date science and research. I began treating with dr Hayes after another physician at the practice left.... For our ivf I was on lupron gonal f and menopure for stimulation. Because of my unicornuate uterus she transferred one embryo. I had 7 eggs fertilized. 5 were mature and all fertilizedwith icsi. On day 3 they transferred an 8 day embryo. I had one additional embryo made it to a day 5 freeze.
The staff [at Michigan Comprehensive Fertility Center] is wonderful. I feel like an individual and not a number.... Strengths are the nurses. Weaknesses are the technology with the ultrasound. The surgical center also seemed a bit dated.... I began treating with dr Hayes after another physician at the practice left. I have had concerns that the clinic is overwhelmed being down one physician.

I appreciate the manner in which she [Dr. Maria Hayes] delivers information. She's forward and I like that. I like being able to discuss options with her, she was open to hearing what I had to say about medical treatment. I felt that she was not open or perhaps a little judgmental of more natural treatments.... I appreciated the authenticity that she carries and the way she delivered information. I would have liked her to be more open to natural treatments as well.
Front staff and phlebotomist [at MI Comprehensive Fertility Ctr-Dearborn] were excellent. Actually the best blood draws I've ever had. They are pleasant when making appointments and working with schedules. I do not have any complaints about the office staff.... The nurses were very knowledgeable and compassionate. At times though I think a couple nurses forget how traumatic and depressing it can be to not become a mommy every month.
