Attention to Detail

Attention to detail is on a 1 - 10 scale, and is scored based on the rate, and severity, of errors committed by the clinic according to the patients.

For example, a severe error might be failing to inform a patient of critical information, while a small error might be failing to call a patient with results.

CDC Success Rates

This is the most recent data from the CDC. The CDC cautions that it should not be used to compare doctors and clinics. This data represents the outcomes of IVF cycles when using a person's own eggs.

For more information please see our FAQs.

Where you see a “?” on the chart, a clinic has done fewer than 20 cycles in this category and age range, so the CDC says showing percentages from this small data set would be misleading and unreliable.

Success w/ Doc Too early to know
[Dr. Mark Amols] is very kind, compassionate and understanding because he has also personally experienced infertility...But I also felt like there was a lack of interaction and education during visits, very little explanation for the reason of labs, blood draws, medications, what they are looking for. I was brushed off and eventually gave up trying to schedule a follow up after my first retrieval resulted in only 2 eggs fertilizing.
[New Direction Fertility Centers] seem very organized, their finance department is great to calculate cost of future treatment. We have never waited too long in the waiting room, front desk is friendly. The office is beautiful and relaxing. The best way to get your questions answered is using the app Klara. They are very good at responding to that in a message. They are hard to get ahold of on the phone.
How was your experience with Mark Amols at New Direction Fertility Centers?
He is very kind, compassionate and understanding because he has also personally experienced infertility. Our fist visit was the longest. He spent a lot of time discussing our previous diagnosis, his recommendations and wrote everything down for us to take home which was helpful to reference. IVF Visits seem rushed, he didn’t give any details or explain my follicle ultrasounds. (Was never told the sizes during stims cycles) and what they are looking for etc.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Mark Amols at New Direction Fertility Centers?
He is kind, compassionate, and honest. He also is understanding because he has experienced infertility himself. He has good experience with IVF, a good lab, has good prices, accepts many insurance plans, and offered us military discount.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Mark Amols at New Direction Fertility Centers?
Both. I felt we we always treated with kindness and respect, But I also felt like there was a lack of interaction and education during visits, very little explanation for the reason of labs, blood draws, medications, what they are looking for. I was brushed off and eventually gave up trying to schedule a follow up after my first retrieval resulted in only 2 eggs fertilizing. If I wasn’t a healthcare provider myself and able to research and figure out a lot on my own, I would have been totally clueless. Another positive, They are also very good about responding to messages and questions using the app Klara.
Describe the protocols Mark Amols used in your cycles at New Direction Fertility Centers and their degree of success.
We have only completed one IVF retrieval before COVID -19 caused cancellations. cycle #1 started the end of February 2020. My AMH was 1.83 (from July 2019). This was not redrawn prior to stims, but my FSH and estrogen were drawn. My FSH was ~8 and estrogen normal. Prior to my AFC they decided which protocol of meds to put me on (I think based on these numbers alone). My AFC prior to starting stims was done by an ultrasound tech with a NP watching and was 6 on the left ovary and 2 on the right. I started menapur 75mg qam and final-f 250mg qpm. After that all of my follicle scans were done by Dr. Amols. At my first scan with him he only saw 6 on my left and 0 on my right. At that visit he increased my gonal-f to 300mg qPM. Which I continued. The night I triggered he told me to take 450mg of gonal-f that night instead of 300. I triggered with hcg 5000. He was able to retrieve 6 eggs (from 6 follicles). 5 were mature, but only 2 fertilized normally. Both of those embryos made it to blast and one tested PGS normal. We plan to proceed with another round of retrieval’s once able to. It was becoming very difficult to get a follow up appointment with him to discuss details so we gave up and ended up just settling for a Message sent to us on Klara from his nurse (who discussed our case with him). She reported that for the next round he recommends doing ISCI and a micro dose Lupron protocol.
Describe your experience with the nursing staff at New Direction Fertility Centers.
Overall they are nice, we always felt respected. The biggest disconnect for us was the lack of education of everything surrounding IVF. They are however good at responding on Klara app & are willing to answer any questions you have (if you know what to ask).

Describe the costs associated with your care under Mark Amols at New Direction Fertility Centers.
We have insurance coverage at the moment that pays 80%. It’s doesn’t cover PGS testing so we did pay out of pocket for that. Cost was $1200 for (biopsy & testing) & PGS testing was $2,000 for up to 8 embryos.
Describe Mark Amols's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at New Direction Fertility Centers.
For me he said he would only transfer one embryo because I have a uterine anomaly (unicornuate uterus). He did mention that in other cases he is not apposed to transferring 2, but after that I’m not sure.

one thing I am sure of is that Dr. Amols has our back. He will fight for us and be kind to us and allow us to continue to grow our family...I was so nervous coming off of our 1st miscarriage, I started crying during the transfer. Dr. Amols’ words in that moment to my husband and I assured us that we are doing everything right, and it’s not our faults...The day of our consult, I remember leaving with a plan. With a confidence I haven’t had before. I remember Dr. Amols writing on the back of a piece of paper how PCOS works and detailing the working of the body/hormones in such a way I finally understood it. I was diagnosed with PCOS at 14 and no one had ever taken this much time to explain it. I
They [the nurses at New Direction Fertility Centers] are great! They work very hard and care very much. This couldn’t be done without them!...IUIs were $750 meds were separate, this was a few years ago. IVF was around $6000...I would want a new patient to understand that they are so busy helping many many women become pregnant and that if it takes a few to respond then that’s okay. Though they do have a policy where they get back to everyone same day of sent though the portal and I absolutely love that. They have contacted me when I was having my miscarriage after hours when I messaged about bleeding and got me in the very next morning. They are attentive and know what they’re doing.
How was your experience with Mark Amols at New Direction Fertility Centers?
There was a point in time when we first started seeking treatment where we were told getting pregnant would never happen - this was told to us by our previous fertility doctor. We were told to seek out donor egg and sperm, embryo adoption, and even adoption. I was looked over for not being the “ideal” fertility patient; plus size, PCOS, annovulation, plus extreme male infertility. I felt worthless. It was at that point when a friend had recommended Dr. Amols to us and was pregnant with her son because of him. We scheduled an appointment and from the moment we did we were so happy we made that decision. The day of our consult, I remember leaving with a plan. With a confidence I haven’t had before. I remember Dr. Amols writing on the back of a piece of paper how PCOS works and detailing the working of the body/hormones in such a way I finally understood it. I was diagnosed with PCOS at 14 and no one had ever taken this much time to explain it. I left feeling as though all of my questions were answered, and happy, but most importantly my faith and confidence were restored that day. After that we underwent 3 IUIs, all had failed. We believe this was due to poor sperm quality and count. But the positive out of the whole thing was that he finally got me to produce eggs and ovulate! None of which was possible before. He believed in small wins like that and so did we. We moved on to our egg retrieval next. He was at every follicle check and scan, counting the follicles. Continued to restore hope each appointment. I have no weakness for Dr. Amols. I truly believe he is the best doctor we have ever seen. And it is obviously true to who he is as a human because there is no way someone as busy as him can continue to be this great of a person to each patient every single day, at every single appointment. I also love that he remembers what we talk about during the appointment and I never have to repeat myself or remind him of what went on. He is always prepared.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Mark Amols at New Direction Fertility Centers?
I would advise a prospective patient to remind themselves that this doctor isn’t like the rest. Your questions will get answered. You will regain trust with your doctor again here. He does have your best interest in mind. And I would tell them to TRUST THE PROCESS. He does know what he is doing and you can count on him to keep you informed on every step. Most advise I see for any type of doctor is always “be an advocate for your own health” and here... Dr. Amols is your advocate.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Mark Amols at New Direction Fertility Centers?
I left a previous fertility doctor for this exact reason. I felt like a number at the previous place and like a human being with feelings and intent with Dr. Amols. I have always stated that Dr. Amols is the kindest human being I have ever met and anytime I recommend his practice I always say that. A most recent example of his kindness would be when we just lost our miracle IVF boy girl twins at 21 weeks due to an incompetent cervix and preterm labor. This was totally out of his control yet I felt obligated to tell him because we had developed that human relationship as doctor and patient. He has a portal which patients can communicate through via “text” named Klara and when I relayed what happened through their app, he personally took the time to address what happened and express his condolences. What doctor takes the time to read something like that, something that wasn’t his issue at all, and express how sorry that is. This has been a long and increasingly difficult process for us. Now that we have two babies, Ian James and Makenna Renee, in heaven, it makes it that much more of a sensitive subject and it is becoming more mentally painful to charge on. However, one thing I am sure of is that Dr. Amols has our back. He will fight for us and be kind to us and allow us to continue to grow our family. One last thing - during my last embryo transfer cycle with the twins, I was so nervous coming off of our 1st miscarriage, I started crying during the transfer. Dr. Amols’ words in that moment to my husband and I assured us that we are doing everything right, and it’s not our faults. They way he made us feel in that moment... I can still feel that feeling even now talking about it. It’s like no other and I recommend him to everyone and anyone seeking fertility treatment.
Describe the protocols Mark Amols used in your cycles at New Direction Fertility Centers and their degree of success.
For me we first had to see if I could even respond to meds appropriately. So we first started with oral medication such as clomid and femara. Dr. Amos quickly noticed that I was not responding to either of these. But instead of canceling the entire cycle and having to start from fresh in another month, he was able to pivot and add different medications on to see if this helped. We slowly added injectable medicine such as Gonal-F, and that seem to do the trick. He was very skilled with what he prescribed. We started out very slow but we were able to change things very quickly with his expertise expertise. I remember during my first IUI cycle that I just had SO many follicles that the struggle would be getting just 1 or 2to fully mature. He took this very seriously and we were able to get that 1 or 2 to mature and used the trigger shot to release them. I remember asking why I can’t just be on only the injectable medicine if it works to go to the follicles… Not knowing that he had a plan in mind. And once I asked that he provided his rationale for using both oral medication and injectables because we want to slowly obtain one or two follicles to mature. I didn’t quite comprehend that more follicles maturing but more potential babies… He helped explain to me that we want to limit my risk and the goal is to hold a happy health baby in my arms. For my egg retrieval cycle, We had already gone through all the ups and downs with the previous attempts (IUIs). So we were pretty confident on what to do this time around. He assessed everything previously and knew exactly what medication to describe in the exact amounts. During my egg retrieval cycle I remember him actually decreasing my medication and it fluctuated almost every day or every other day to make sure we were getting the right amount at the right time. You have to be really skilled to be that laser focused! In the end we retrieved plenty of eggs and froze enough embryos and we were so happy.

IUIs were $750 meds were separate, this was a few years ago. IVF was around $6000 but half way through we had insurance coverage so the cost changed. Anesthesia for IVF was separate.
Describe Mark Amols's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at New Direction Fertility Centers.
Dr. Amols had us sign an acknowledgment of risk when transferring our embryos. I believe I am a very unique example of what *could* go wrong with a multiple pregnancy. We lost our perfectly healthy baby girl and baby boy twins on 3/21/20 and 3/22/20 to an incompetent cervix and preterm labor. This has changed my mind on what I will transfer next which will be only 1 embryo. I liked that he allowed us to make our decision. And even if they told us over and over again about the risk of preterm labor and incompetent cervix I would had still choose to transfer two because we did not genetically test our embryos. And add that our first transfer we transferred 2 and only one stuck but ended in miscarriage at 8 weeks and they were our best two embryos. My mind constantly goes back and wonders “what if”... it even then, now we know I have these issues that not everyone has and I am looking forward to my consult with him next month to discuss what to do next.

After multiple failed IUI's, we moved onto IVF at the [Dr. Mark Amol's] recommendation...after PGS testing we ended up with 6 frozen embryos...allowed us to choose between transferring one or transferring two embryos. We chose to transfer two...knew us personally and remembered details of our situation/history every time he saw us. He was always prepared to make a plan that would work specifically for us. He never made me feel like just a number.
They [staff at New Direction] always got me in and out as quickly as possible without sacrificing good communication in the process. Most of the communication outside of appointments is done online via Klara messenger. At times, I loved it because I can ask a question and get a clear answer in writing that I can refer back to. Other times, some questions are a lot to type and it would be easier to talk to an actual person. That's one small drawback, but most of the time I loved how quickly they respond on Klara. They are great about that and even Dr. Amols responds to questions after hours.
How was your experience with Mark Amols at New Direction Fertility Centers?
Dr. Amols and his staff are exactly what you need when going through the difficult and often heartbreaking road of struggling to conceive. They were great at communication and cheering us on every step of the way. My IVF coordinator Maggie was so great. She recognized me in passing in the hall even when I didn't have appointments to see her - they made me feel like my specific case mattered to them and they were invested in achieving success with my treatments, too. Dr. Amols is extremely involved in the process - he's the best in the business in my opinion. The one drawback is how long the waiting list is sometimes for new patients, but honestly that's because they are so worth the wait. Initially, my new patient appointment was months away, but I called regularly asking about cancellations and ended up getting in much earlier. I've seen other doctors that had shorter wait times and it became obvious why theirs was shorter and New Direction is longer. My miracle baby boy is on the way because of Dr. Amols and his staff at New Direction - and to me, that was worth any small amount of time I spent waiting for my first appointment.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Mark Amols at New Direction Fertility Centers?
Don't be scared away by the new patient waiting list. First, I promise it's worth the wait. Second, get the appointment on the calendar, but then call a couple times a week to ask about cancellations. So many people get in much earlier than initially scheduled because they are persistent about calling for earlier appointments that may have become available. That worked well for me!
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Mark Amols at New Direction Fertility Centers?
Dr. Amols is attentive and extremely involved in the entire treatment process. I've seen other doctors who make you feel like a number or have their medical assistants doing everything and making all the decisions about treatments. That kind of clinic is frustrating because you don't want to be spending thousands of dollars to have an MA doing everything - that doesn't happen at New Direction. Dr. Amols knew us personally and remembered details of our situation/history every time he saw us. He was always prepared to make a plan that would work specifically for us. He never made me feel like just a number.
Describe the protocols Mark Amols used in your cycles at New Direction Fertility Centers and their degree of success.
Initially, because of our situation, we first tried IUI. Doctor Amols was great about adjusting my medication protocol as needed depending on how I responded. Clomid didn't really work for me - we did injectables for all our IUI cycles. After multiple failed IUI's, we moved onto IVF at the doctor's recommendation. We knew it was the right next step. My stim protocol was Menopur and Gonal f, with Cetrotide halfway through the stim process to keep me from ovulating too soon. HCG trigger shot was 36 hours before egg retreival. We had a fantastic retrieval result of 23 eggs, 17 . mature and 15 fertilized. Out of those, 9 made it to freeze and after PGS testing we ended up with 6 frozen embryos. Transfer went very smoothly roughly six weeks later with PIO injections beginning five days before transfer and continuing until 12 weeks 1 day of pregnancy.
Describe your experience with your nurse at New Direction Fertility Centers. (Assigned nurse: Maggie)
I loved my IVF coordinator Maggie. She was awesome, sweet and everyone who is assigned to her loves her.

There is definitely a long waiting list at times, but it is worth the wait. The clinic is efficient, I never waited long for scheduled appointments. Describe the costs associated with your care under Mark Amols at New Direction Fertility Centers.
When we did our IUIs, we didn't have fertility coverage through our insurance. Each IUI, including all ultrasound appointments and everything, was $750. This didn't include medications - with meds, each IUI cost around $900. When we did IVF, we had fertility coverage through our insurance so we only paid out of pocked for the PGS testing which wasn't included - this testing was $2800. If paid out of pocket, we were quoted $7,500 for an IVF cycle.

Dr. Amols allowed us to choose between transferring one or transferring two embryos. We chose to transfer two.

Dr. Derman has a way of being candid and honest about the potential results but still provided hope. At the end of the day, I have always felt like our best chances have been with him. So far, we have not had full success (no transfer yet) but he continues to update our treatment plan to achieve better results. I truly feel like it is a customized plan for me...Dr. Derman is present for each appointment and personally explains where we are in the process and how we are progressing. If Dr. Derman is unavailable for any reason, I was still seen by his partner who has also been great.
This clinic [New Direction Fertility Centers] is small but has been so good to work with. The lab seems to be top notch. They are also very up front with pricing and have made it more affordable to try multiple times. They do require a non refundable deposit but are up front about that fact. You cannot change dates once the deposit is made without forfeiting it...The nursing staff here is fantastic.

Describe the protocols Seth Derman used in your cycles at New Direction Fertility Centers and their degree of success.
Our first cycle, we used an antagonist protocol with the following medications: Menopur [75 units] x2 (150); Gonal-F or Follistim [600 unit pens/cartridges] x6 (375) Ganirelix 250mcg x5 doses; Novarel 5000units x1 (trigger); Doxycycline (Oral Pills) 100mg x10 pills; Femara (Oral Pills) 7.5 mg (3 2.5 mg tablets) x30 pills; Dexamethasone (Oral Pills) 1 mg (2 0.5 mg tablets) x30 pills. We retrieved only 3 eggs. However all were mature and fertilized. None made it to blastocyst stage. For cycle 2 we added microdose lupron for a flare protocol. My meds were as follows: Dexamethasone 0.5mg tablets; Doxycycline 100mg tablets (x10); Microdose 40mcg/0.2ml (x1 10ML vial); Menopur 75 units (x2) (150); Follistim 300 units (x8) (375 each day); Cetrotide 0.25mg (x5); Novarel 5000units x1 (trigger). This cycle was better with approximately 9 eggs retrieved. We had 4 embryos. One made it to blastocyst and has been tested to confirm is euploid. We have not transferred this one yet. Cycle 3 did not go well. We used the same flare protocol after the positive results from cycle 2. All the same meds. However, only 3 eggs were retrieved. Only one fertilized but did not make it to a blastocyst stage. We are proceeding with a 4th cycle and have started metformin and some supplements as the report from the lab in cycle 3 was that my eggs were fragile which is an indication of PCOS which I have not previously been diagnosed with. The doctor also intends to HCG to the next protocol.
Describe your experience with the nursing staff at New Direction Fertility Centers.
The nursing staff here is fantastic. I know some people do not like online patient portals, but I have found this team exceptionally responsive some times even after hours. They have pushed meds through last minute after insurance issues and have been proactive with local clinics in assisting me as we travel out of state and have some bloodwork done locally. They are also always kind with an emoji or expression of support in the messages. In office, every one has been kind and supportive.

Describe the costs associated with your care under Seth Derman at New Direction Fertility Centers.
My first cycle was covered by insurance. However, subsequent cycles I had to self-pay which has cost $6500 + ICSI ($600) + PGA testing ($2500 for 7 embryos) + medications. They are upfront with costs on their website. The $6500 includes one transfer.
Describe Seth Derman's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at New Direction Fertility Centers.
Even if we have more than one embryo we intend to only transfer one given my age based on the doctor’s recommendation.

Describe the specific things that went wrong at New Direction Fertility Centers.
During cycle 3 I needed an additional day of medication. The doctor and nurse said they would send it in but I did have to call the clinic a couple of times to remind them. However they did get it called in and everything proceeded normally.

Dr. Amols wants his patients to have a successful fertility journey. Personally he has made sure I knew exactly what was entailed and didn't sugar coat anything on my IVF journey. He has good bedside manners, and always asked if I have any questions after my appointments. Hes great about walking through what hes doing to give a better understanding. If I need a more detailed response or I'm I'm unsure about anything related to my plan, Dr. Amols makes sure to have me sit in a consulting room before my departure to answer all my questions or clear up any uncertainty. He can even be quite funny at times and likes to use great anologies to help understand the vocabulary/terms and process.
New Direction fertility, has great staff that make sure to reach out through your journey so that it is smooth and all question or concerns are addressed. Weakness at times that the clinic faces- are that not all nurses know your chart, or the doctor so it does not seem as personal of an experience. Expect though that you're in good hands! They want your dreams to come true...Most the nurses are delightful with great positive attitudes

What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Mark Amols at New Direction Fertility Centers?
Don't be afraid to ask questions. If you're unsure don't leave the office till you have complete understanding. Dr. Amols will make sure your fertility plan is structured for your own unique journey.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Mark Amols at New Direction Fertility Centers?
They are very busy. They need to get their patients in and out due to the high volume of those who are seeking fertility treatments.
Describe the protocols Mark Amols used in your cycles at New Direction Fertility Centers and their degree of success.
Durning my egg retrieval plan he had to use a more aggressive approach with my diminishing egg supply so my hormones were at stronger doses. He has had to use several different medications to increase my lining because my body was not responding to it in the way it should. Went from pills, to patches, to now a more natural approach.
Describe your experience with the nursing staff at New Direction Fertility Centers.
Most the nurses are delightful with great positive attitudes. One however; did seem displeased when having to cancel my cycle. Making me feel awful or as though I failed and walked out of there feeling deflated.

What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Mark Amols at New Direction Fertility Centers?
Be honest! Don't just take people's money. when you tell someone something stick to your word, don't have other people in your office try to say that you didn't mean what you said. Don't care about the money before the patient
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Mark Amols at New Direction Fertility Centers?
They recommended that we proceed with the procedure knowing that my husbands sperm count was low. then when the test was negative and we went back for a second round, they advised that his count was even too low for IVF, so they knowingly proceeded with treatment knowing that it wouldn't be successful rather than cancelling the procedure.
Describe the protocols Mark Amols used in your cycles at New Direction Fertility Centers and their degree of success.
Clomid, with IUI, as we had have a successful pregnancy previously without fertility treatment, but he didn't review our medical records before giving medical advise.
Describe your experience with the nursing staff at New Direction Fertility Centers.
They said that the doctor meant things differently than what the doctor had actually said out of his mouth. They gave false hope "it only takes one" knowing that the count of my husbands sperm would NEVER be successful. They were not compassionate about my previous rape and the difficulties of the procedures. They didn't care that our last baby had died and allowed us to have the false hope.
Describe your experience with New Direction Fertility Centers.
They do not stick to their word. When they say something, the very next day, they will say something else or that what was said is not what the provider meant. They treat you like a number, not a person.
Describe the costs associated with your care under Mark Amols at New Direction Fertility Centers.
The consult was $250, the procedure was $750 for the first round, then a month later they tried to charge me $1000 for the IUI procedure.

Describe the specific things that went wrong at New Direction Fertility Centers.
The continued with my IUI knowing that my husband's sperm count was lower than it should be to be successful, and recommended that we continue with the procedure when I asked for their advise. They said that if it didn't work that they'd use the money from the IUI towards IVF. On my second appointment, I had spoken with the doctor about wanting to proceed with IUI and he specifically said that the discount mentioned would be able to be applied towards my next IUI cycle. And then the billing team said that's not what he meant. So they didn't keep their word. they knowingly put me through the mental turmoil of a negative pregnancy test.

Dr. Amols makes us feel welcomed. He shared personal stories with multiple times. He is relatable. He made my husband not feel so much shame. And it truly comes across that he cares for me. I leave feeling excited and hopeful because he is taking me under his wing and helping us achieve this goal...He is a wealth of knowledge. Ask questions and share your concerns. He will listen and respond
[New Direction Fertility Centers] Strengths: the knowledge at this clinic is amazing. The nurses and doctors are so smart and caring. I have yet to meet someone I don’t like. They truly care. When a cycle ends they share that compassion. The best! Weakness: they do have a lot of patients so they can get busy. But their App is helpful for communicating.

Dr. Amols is very knowledgeable but lacks execution due to an extremely busy clinic and staff. He makes promises but can’t deliver because of those shortcomings...You MUST advocate for your care and be very direct regarding what you would like. You will need to manage your own care and stay on top questions which adds more stress...I wanted to transfer 2 embryos but I didn’t have that option.
[at New Direction Fertility Centers] Many of my results weren’t delivered timely or at all and I had to follow up...The main blood draw person was rough. They often have students that help as well...They put the majority of patients on the same protocol and it is effective for many people but I feel like there is a disconnect between the doctors and staff.....
How was your experience with Mark Amols at New Direction Fertility Centers?
Dr. Amols is very knowledgeable but lacks execution due to an extremely busy clinic and staff. He makes promises but can’t deliver because of those shortcomings. I saw Dr. Derman at his clinic as well. They have different philosophies on how to do things so I felt some confusion regarding treatment strategies.

He [Dr. Amols] was professional and knowledgeable...He gave us choices and percentages and explained what was happening and what was next. He’s very gentle and addresses all concerns. He takes time with us when we need it...Antagonist protocol. I asked if he would do whatever he thought was best. 22 eggs retrieved, 9embryos with ICSI. We implanted two embryos (day 5) and have one baby...
They [New Direction Fertility Centers] are organized but don’t always communicate that organization with the patient. Calendars are set without our communication (had to switch to night shift to adhere to the schedule). And at one blood draw appointment, they told me they needed $1800 and couldn’t continue treatment without it. I had no idea, they said they sent a statement but I never received one....
How was your experience with Mark Amols at New Direction Fertility Centers?
He was professional and knowledgeable. When we felt let down by our previous doctor, he accepted my testing from the other facilities and was quick to start treatment. He gave us choices and percentages and explained what was happening and what was next. He’s very gentle and addresses all concerns. He takes time with us when we need it.

During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Mark Amols at New Direction Fertility Centers?

Covid complicated things. I was kicked out of my previous clinic because they wouldn’t treat a covid ICU nurse and risk exposure. After beginning treatment and communicating with Cassandra, the covid protocol was not clear in the office and I was being told I could and could not do certain things the wouldn’t potentially interfere with my job and treatments. It was worked out eventually.

We only met him [Dr. Amols] once. It was fine. He was very kind and encouraging and asked great questions. I wanted IVF and he said we should do IUI because he didn’t see IVF working for us based on my low egg reserve.... The initial consult via video was positive and helpful...But everything after that was managed by his staff....I was so traumatized by the experience and the lack of compassion and connection that I didn’t proceed and actually ended up giving up on even trying through a clinic...
It’s a very nice clinic [New Direction Fertility Centers] with good parking. I didn’t wait long to be seen the few times I was there. Again, I had such a negative experience I don’t have a lot to say about the clinic. I felt like I wasn’t assigned to any one person that was interested in my care. I felt like another number....I talked to different people each time. I had to call or message a number of times to get clarity on something or to learn about the results of our tests. No one seemed invested in helping us...

I have been reluctant to write a review because so many people recommend this clinic. But my experience was immensely traumatic. The initial consult via video was positive and helpful. The doctor is very warm. But everything after that was managed by his staff. I talked to different people each time. I had to call or message a number of times to get clarity on something or to learn about the results of our tests. No one seemed invested in helping us.
Describe the protocols Mark Amols used in your cycles at New Direction Fertility Centers and their degree of success.
1. My first visit after the consultation Was to give blood and do a pelvic ultrasound. After that appointment I was taken to a room with a woman who started explaining what medications I need to get and when to notify the office of my period so they could schedule me to come in. I was super confused as I had been told by Dr. Amols that’s we would go through a series of testing, look at the results and then decide the best path forward. I talked to nurse about this and she left and then came back and said the Dr was fine with us moving forward now. I stated that I didn’t feel comfortable and wanted to wait for the test results, including having a Hysterosalpingography and having my husband’s semen tested as the doctor had told me. I checked a few weeks after my husband’s sperm test if they had results and they said, “no news is good news.” 2. They scheduled the Hysterosalpingography with me and didn’t give me any information on how to prepare. I actually didn’t know what the test was called at the time. When I arrived in the office the front desk person asked me if I had taken ibuprofen or some pain medication ahead of time and had I kept my bladder full, as advised. I shared that no one had advised me. She looked concerned and advised me to take something after. I was taken back to a very small, cold room and asked to take my clothes off, put on a robe and someone would be with me shortly. Awhile later a few women entered the room. They had difficulty getting the X-ray to cooperate and it started to become clear that this wasn’t something they’d done very often. Eventually a technician had to come into the room to get the x-Ray situated appropriately. Then they started the procedure of pushing in the tube to release the dye. Right away the woman doing this started having issues. She kept having me move and it was painful. She couldn’t get the tube in. I have endured a lot of procedures and medical treatment in my life— this will go down as the worst experience I’ve ever had. The longer it went, the more painful it became. I expressed that she was hurting me and she kept encouraging me to relax and stick with it. At one point they paused and asked me to go to the bathroom to empty my bladder. When I say up there was a lot blood on the table and in-between my legs. When I returned she told me she was going to dilate my cervix to help get the catheter tube in. This did not work either and at this point I was crying, I had yelped numerous times and groaned and expressed concern and they kept telling me it was normal. The woman then left and brought in Dr. Derman. He jammed the tube into my uterus and released the dye very quickly. It was beyond painful. I let out another scream and sob and they all told me to “stay strong” and “keep going.” Dr. Derman kept trying to fill the uterus with dye and then told me that the process wasn’t working correctly because I was missing a Fallopian tube and half of my uterus (called a unicornuate uterus). He told me this while I was on the table. He said it makes pregnancy hard but not impossible. Then he left. The doctor asked me to get dressed and then they would talk to me about next steps and that she would be waiting for me outside. I got up— there was blood on the table and on the floor. I used the sheet on the table to wipe me as there was nothing there for me- no tissue or pad. I literally stuffed the tissue in my underwear. I walked out the door and stood waiting for a long while. She did not return and no it’s was there. I asked a person passing by what I was supposed to do and they said I could leave. I walked myself out of the clinic and drove home where I stayed in bed and cried for the rest of the day. I later wrote the clinic and said I had a bad experience, was anyone gonna talk to me about the diagnosis, and did the doctor have any concerns about that new diagnosis combined with my health and age. Rather than hearing from the doctor, I heard back from a nurse who said she checked with the doctor and he said it was fine for me to proceed with the IUI and that it would probably take a number of tries but we should proceed. I was so traumatized by the experience and the lack of compassion and connection that I didn’t proceed and actually ended up giving up on even trying through a clinic. It’s taken me a year to finally post about it and to even consider trying again with a different clinic. I really can’t identify another time I felt so dehumanized but a doctor or clinic.

I shared this information in my post about the doctor. I wasn’t given clear directions and what I was told by the doctor wasn’t what happened with his staff. Example: I was told we would do all the testing and look at the results before we proceeded with any procedures.

While I was in his care in a span of 8 months, Dr Amos only saw me once...while in his care for multiple ultrasounds and blood draws, he only put a nursing assistant who was also unable to answer any questions you had...I made it clear that I was brand new into understanding what is happening, and not once in treatment was it explained to me..
[New Direction Fertility Centers] Strengths: keep appt times Cons: more nursing assistant than NPs so you can't get questions answered. Dr never available so questions cannot be answered. Will see you at your most depressed broken state and will not do anything to help you other than sticking to a blood draw and ultrasound...Communication was the biggest downfall for me at this clinic.
How was your experience with Mark Amols at New Direction Fertility Centers?
While I was in his care in a span of 10 months, Dr Amos only saw me once. (Once being in my initial consult) When month after month passed and no conception, I had to BEG the front office staff to schedule a sit down for me to meet with Dr Amos. His (highly turned over staff) will push the office manager on you. While Jan is sweet and im sure very caring, she is still not an RE and is not able to answer questions you may have. Again, while in his care for multiple ultrasounds and blood draws, he only put a nursing assistant who was also unable to answer any questions you had, so it took hours to get a response on what is happening inside your body, as well as not having access to someone in aiding you in understanding certain processes that are happening. Hey said all you need to do is ask, but as someone who did and never for answers. I would say that is a lie. I would lay there crying and no one around would have compassion or think to speak up to help. When I started treatment I made it clear that I was brand new into understanding what is happening, and not once in treatment was it explained to me. I trusted in Dr. A at first, so I just took medication because in my excitement, I was one step closer to my future child. However when I finally stated advocating for myself I was told that I "ask more questions than a 'normal' patient" and was belittled for trying to get answers on what is happening and what is the purpose of the medication I am taking. While I finally got a teleconference to sit down with Dr. Amos, most of the conversation was spend defending himself, telling me that he should stop medicated times cycles because we "expect too much," (again. Total newbie here, so this is not a treatment that I personally chose..) and told me that "the point of all of this is to get you pregnant so what is the big deal." And I still have not recovered from that. I hated the communication, I hated my experience, I hated the unknown in all of my steps, and I hated that someone who I put all my trust in treated me like that. If you are not an IVF patient, I would expect you would be treated the way that I was. When he wanted to switch me to IUI with no reason given- I refused that service. I felt as if something had changed, request a sit down with me and my partner and let's review what is next. He didn't do that. We stayed on timed intercourse cycles, and he also threw that in my face during our last sit down.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Mark Amols at New Direction Fertility Centers?
Either be well versed in infertility lingo, be doing IVF, or go somewhere else.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Mark Amols at New Direction Fertility Centers?
While I was in his care in a span of 8 months, Dr Amos only saw me once. (Once being in my initial consult) When month after month passed and no conception, I had to BEG the front office staff to schedule a sit down for me to meet with Dr Amos. Again, while in his care for multiple ultrasounds and blood draws, he only put a nursing assistant who was unable to answer any questions you had, so it took hours to get a response on what is happening inside your body as well as not having access to understanding certain processes that are happening. I would lay there crying and no one around would have compassion or think to speak up.
Describe the protocols Mark Amols used in your cycles at New Direction Fertility Centers and their degree of success.
Never really saw him, and it was never explained to me, so I can not say how he decided.
Describe your experience with New Direction Fertility Centers.
Strengths: keep appt times Cons: more nursing assistant than NPs so you can't get questions answered. Dr never available so questions cannot be answered. Will see you at your most depressed broken state and will not do anything to help you other than sticking to a blood draw and ultrasound.

Dr. Amols is very compassionate, supportive and relatable. He thoroughly described all our options and gave his recommendations. As a couple who have been struggling with infertility for years it was calming to speak with a doctor who understood firsthand what it feels like to be in our shoes...he sent me a message and calmed my nerves down. He even saw me on my next appointment and assured me everything was going well...The nurse practitioner performed our IUI

During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Mark Amols at New Direction Fertility Centers?
This was our first IUI and we had no idea what to expect. We did feel like part of a family when we were going through the whole process. Dr. Amols and the staff treated us like friends/family and were very compassionate and supportive through the whole process. Dr. Amols' medical assistant, Abby, is super sweet and helpful. During a blood draw, she noticed I was feeling discouraged and she let Dr. Amols know and he sent me a message and calmed my nerves down. He even saw me on my next appointment and assured me everything was going well. The nurse practitioner performed our IUI and she was very sweet, thorough and patient.
Describe the protocols Mark Amols used in your cycles at New Direction Fertility Centers and their degree of success.
Our IUI protocol was pretty simple (I think). We took: 10 mg Letrozole on cycle days 3-7. 75 unit Gonal-F shots on cycle days 4,6+8. 2 - 100 unit Gonal-F shots before trigger, 250mcg Ovidrel trigger shot on the Saturday night before our procedure on Monday morning.

Make sure you ask as many questions when you are with Dr. amols. He is a very busy man and gives you all the time in the world when you meet with him, but it can be extremely difficult to meet with him. ... Dr. Amols always treated us with so much compassion when we were going through fertility treatments. He knew we were getting close and never gave up hope when it felt like there was no hope. He was always our biggest cheerleader. However, because he is the only doctor, sometimes it was hard to have a chance to speak with him
Communication can be an area of opportunity. You need to advocate for yourself because sometimes it can be hard to get all of the answers you need if you are considered a more simple case. We never had any issues with the clinic, but there were times when we had questions and since 99% of communication is through the app, things can at times be lost in translation or be more delayed than having the ability to call and ask a quick question.

Describe the specific things that went wrong at New Direction Fertility Centers.
When I went through my egg retrieval my pharmacy had been calling ND for two weeks to confirm a prescription and I had to go into the clinic to have them speak to the pharmacy on the phone. The pharmacy had been waiting for over a week for a response. A separate time, my local Walgreens needed confirmation on a painkiller prescribed during my miscarriage and since the clinic never called back I never received the pain killer to relieve the pain.

New Direction is incredible, which makes it hard to get an appointment. When we first sought out treatment, it was a five-month wait, which led us to another clinic. Everytime I saw [Dr. Mark Amols] it was comfortable...always nice and empathetic...If he saw you in the hallway he alway waves and says hi...My case was pretty straight forward. Basic protocol...I love the fact he gives us the option of doing 1 or 2 embryo transfers. I feel like that's the reason why I was able to get pregnant first try...Somedays I felt like I was treated like a human other days like a number.
Communication, I would say is a weakness. I know they [New Direction Fertility Centers] have the KLARA, which is supposed to make communication better, to me it was a hit or miss...after I lost my baby when the girl called to give me my blood results, I was told I had to get my blood drawn weekly to watch my HCG levels due to a possible ectopic pregnancy. She had no clue I lost my baby and how I lost it. She should of been up to date on her information before calling a grieving mother.

What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Mark Amols at New Direction Fertility Centers?
They are a very busy clinic, I feel like you have to self-advocate a good amount.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Mark Amols at New Direction Fertility Centers?
Somedays I felt like I was treated like a human other days like a number. This was consistent through my treatment, but the big one was after I lost my baby when the girl called to give me my blood results, I was told I had to get my blood drawn weekly to watch my HCG levels due to a possible ectopic pregnancy. She had no clue I lost my baby and how I lost it. She should of been up to date on her information before calling a grieving mother. Then other times, the office manager, or the FET coordinators would go above and beyond for me to make sure I was getting adequate care.

Describe the costs associated with your care under Mark Amols at New Direction Fertility Centers.
5,000 for the first go around of IVF not including meds. We were billed separately some blood and ultrasounds and testing that were not included in the package around 1200 (after billing insurance also this price included the ICIS fee) just recently received another bill for about 120. (After insurance) I believe this was for my surgery he performed and blood drawls.

Told to start birth control before I was supposed. The dr said it would be ok, just might have break through bleeding. After my loss of the baby, the girl who called to inform of my test results was unable to answer question and mention follow up HCG due to a possible ectopic pregnancy, which isnt how I lost my baby.

We truly could not have asked for a more caring, compassionate, committed professional through what was an emotional, draining, daunting process. Amols was excellent every step of the way. He shared openly of his personal experience with infertility and how ART allowed him to have the family he had always dreamed of. He gave us hope - with sound reasoning and science behind it. I never felt uncomfortable or worried about our treatment plan.
The [New Direction Fertility Centers] clinic is clean, modern, efficient. I never felt like we were a just a number or another patient - we really felt like the entire staff was invested in our success. The only drawback to New Direction for us was the location. We are in north Phoenix, so it was almost an hour drive one way to their facility. It was totally worth it though...There wasn't any guessing about what things cost or hidden/added costs... everything was available, disclosed up front and reviewed.

Amols and the entire Clinic staff were truly invested in our success. I was nervous about asking questions because I didn't want to be annoying or difficult, but he was always receptive and happy to answer questions. Don't be shy. Speak up if something is unclear!!
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Mark Amols at New Direction Fertility Centers?
Dr. Amols spent considerable time with us throughout all of our treatment to answer questions, explain his plan and make sure we were comfortable with what was happening. He provided his cell phone number and encouraged communication if we were unsure or worried. After a failed embryo transfer, he called to check on me and discuss next steps. We truly felt like we had a partner in our quest to start and grow our family.
Describe the protocols Mark Amols used in your cycles at New Direction Fertility Centers and their degree of success.
We started our work up when I was older (37). We knew we wanted two kids, so he was very honest about the role of banking embryos and the challenges with getting pregnant as more time passed. At the time, I just wanted to make it happen, but I am SO glad we trusted him and banked embryos. It took longer than I had expected to be ready to try for a second child and I am so, so glad we had frozen embryos. He also changed our protocol with the second retrieval and added HGH in an attempt to improve egg quality following less than stellar results from our first retrieval. Our first FET failed... he was very analytical about why and what our next steps should be. We did an ERA cycle in between and adjusted timing/meds. The next one worked!
Describe your experience with your nurse at New Direction Fertility Centers.
We had an IVF coordinator who walked us through our retrievals. She and I are still great friends to this day! She was lovely and supportive and really held my hand through the entire process. The transfer coordinators were equally phenomenal and I feel like were as excited as we were when we found out we were pregnant. They were truly invested in our success every step of the way.
Describe your experience with New Direction Fertility Centers.
The clinic is clean, modern, efficient. I never felt like we were a just a number or another patient - we really felt like the entire staff was invested in our success. The only drawback to New Direction for us was the location. We are in north Phoenix, so it was almost an hour drive one way to their facility. It was totally worth it though!
Describe the costs associated with your care under Mark Amols at New Direction Fertility Centers.
Amols has some of the lowest pricing in the valley. There wasn't any guessing about what things cost or hidden/added costs... everything was available, disclosed up front and reviewed.

Dr. Amols and his team got to know me during our visits and would follow up on previous discussions. They actually remembered me and that made me more comfortable at their practice...After 4 rounds of IUIs my husband and I decided to move forward with IVF like Dr. A suggested. We had the egg retrieval in March of 19. We had a polypectomy in April of 19 followed by transfer of 2 embryos in May of 19...delivered my healthy baby boy in February of 2020.
Dr. Amols and his team [at New Direction Fertility Centers] got to know me during our visits and would follow up on previous discussions. They actually remembered me and that made me more comfortable at their practice...communicated well on their app, Klara...there is a % fee if you pay with a credit card over the phone. Credit card in person is no % fee. When you pay such large amounts the % fee can be quite high that it makes driving to the clinic to pay worth it.
How was your experience with Mark Amols at New Direction Fertility Centers?
Dr. Amols is a great person which makes him a great doctor. He actually cares about you individually and your unique situation and makes a specific plan for you. As a patient he made me feel confident that the plan would work and I always left the clinic feeling like I had the best RE on my side.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Mark Amols at New Direction Fertility Centers?
I would suggest skipping IUIs and going straight to IVF if Dr. Amols approved of it.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Mark Amols at New Direction Fertility Centers?
Dr. Amols and his team got to know me during our visits and would follow up on previous discussions. They actually remembered me and that made me more comfortable at their practice.
Describe the protocols Mark Amols used in your cycles at New Direction Fertility Centers and their degree of success.
We started with oral medication (Femara) with timed intercourse. Then we moved on to IUI's. We had to do an IUI every other month because I would develop a cyst every other cycle. Dr. A would out me on bc the cycle with the cyst because my periods are a out every 40 to 60 days and he disnt want to miss two months waiting for my next period. After 4 rounds of IUIs my husband and I decided to move forward with IVF like Dr. A suggested. We had the egg retrieval in March of 19. We had a polypectomy in April of 19 followed by transfer of 2 embryos in May of 19. I found out I was pregnant in June of 19 with one baby. I delivered my healthy baby boy in February of 2020.
Describe your experience with the nursing staff at New Direction Fertility Centers.
Great group of ladies. They were always so friendly and were able to answer my questions. They communicated well on their app, Klara.
Describe your experience with New Direction Fertility Centers.
Everyone there is awesome! They seem to have a great team put together. I would want future patients to know that there is a % fee if you pay with a credit card over the phone. Credit card in person is no % fee. When you pay such large amounts the % fee can be quite high that it makes driving to the clinic to pay worth it.
Describe the costs associated with your care under Mark Amols at New Direction Fertility Centers.
Each IUI was about $1,000. Dr. A CHARGED $750 plus I spent about $250 or so on meds each cycle. The IVF total for me was $17,962.36. The total is for the clinics fee, the meds, the anesthesia, the polypectomy, the genetic testing, and embryo freezing.
Describe Mark Amols's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at New Direction Fertility Centers.
We elected to transfer 2 embryos. Dr. Amols and his team were fine with that.

This is perhaps the best doctor encounter I have had in my entire life and I don't say that lightly. It felt like I was talking to a friend [with Dr. Mark Amols]...He was so nice. He cared not only about my treatment but how it fit in within my larger life. It felt like he cared about who were were as people and not just as patients. I also felt comfortable working with him as a queer patient...He was very open to hearing what I wanted
The financial information is given to you upfront on the website. [at New Direction Fertility Center]...The clinic is very affordable compared to the places that are the closest to me. As an out of state patient there are a few more things that go into planning your treatment. Folks were nice. They also take folks on in cohorts because there is only one doctor. So this means for some folks who wanted to get started right away that isn't possible.

Describe the protocols Mark Amols used in your cycles at New Direction Fertility Centers and their degree of success.
We had not gotten that far. With this clinic you don't get that until right before you are about to start. That was a bit frustrating as I wanted to be able to compare to the other clinics I had consultations with.
Describe your experience with the nursing staff at New Direction Fertility Centers.
My biggest issue is with how you communicate with the nursing staff which is through this app. The hard thing is that at any moment you could be talking to someone new. I felt like I was constantly explaining myself over and over. Since my situation was not as straightforward I found this to be very frustrating. Some nurses were more helpful than others but I don't know if this is their fault or more so just a result of the platform.

He [Dr. Mark Amols] used the normal protocol which is the highest strength protocol for my age group. Although I didn’t respond as well to this treatment protocol, he did listen to me and now we are switching to a less aggressive protocol to see if I will react better to it...understands what it’s like to go through infertility as he and his wife have been through it...I didn’t have a lot of one on one time with as he is super busy. He is a caring doctor though. I saw him during my ultrasound of my eggs. Each time he was fast and efficient. Appointments with him were at most 30 minutes. Very quick.
[New Direction Fertility Centers] are brand new and the labs are equipped with the latest technology and air filtration equipment. The office is clean and the staff are kind. They are backed up so to get a new patient appointment is about a couple months out...The staff is nice. I don’t really see my ivf nurse but the other nurses are nice...The cost for ivf is a less expensive then other clinics I have visited. The office is very transparent when it comes to cost. Also this office accepts health insurance which other ivf places don’t.

Right now we don’t have any embryos to transfer. Although I have heard from other patients that I know say he has a high rate of twin pregnancy. The patients have the right to elect one or two embryo transfer.

He [Dr. Amols] was very open to single vs 2-egg transfer. He would advise only 1 egg if you have a strong family history of identical twins. But he has 2 sets of twins from IVF so he is very open to transferring 2 eggs if that is the patient’s preference...He personally sees every patient at every appointment. He did not have a nurse do monitoring ultrasounds. He does them all. I left one office visit a little concerned and he called me later that day just to check on me and make sure I was okay and made sure I was understanding everything that was going on.
They [New Direction Fertility Centers] prefer to do all communicating through a patient secure messaging service called Klara. It is helpful to have everything in one place and you can always refer back to it. However, it is difficult to sometimes get some clarification quickly through this portal and they are very busy at the office so you are not likely to get one of the staff to answer the phone...Maggie was his out of state IVF coordinator. She had everything organized and sent everything directly to your patient portal
How was your experience with Mark Amols at New Direction Fertility Centers?
He cares about each patient and he cares about making sure that you reach whatever goal you came to him for. He will take the time to talk to you and go over concerns. He sees you for every appointment, even just ultrasounds where usually nurses do that at other clinics.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Mark Amols at New Direction Fertility Centers?
Ask him anything and everything that’s on your mind about the process! He is more than happy to make sure you are comfortable and understand everything.

Describe the protocols Mark Amols used in your cycles at New Direction Fertility Centers and their degree of success.
For the retrieval he used Antagonist protocol. He used Menopur 75 units for 10 days, Cetrotide 0.25 for 5 days (after being on Menopur for 5 days) and Gonal-F. I started at 225 units with the Gonal-F and on Day 6 he increased the dose to 300 units for another 3 days. I am young and healthy with normal lab results so we chose to not be super aggressive with the dose (to avoid OHSS) but to also make sure we were meeting our goal of creating good quality eggs for retrieval.
Describe your experience with your nurse at New Direction Fertility Centers. (Assigned nurse: Maggie)
Maggie was his out of state IVF coordinator. She had everything organized and sent everything directly to your patient portal. If she was not available or busy, she did have other coordinators assisting with responding to messages and questions as well.

He [Dr. Mark Amols] educated me on the trade-offs, but does not push SET when the mother would be capable of carrying twins safely. The decision to transfer one or two embryos is left up to the patient...He understood immediately the sort of financial challenges I was facing becoming a single parent, and took that into account when recommending a course of treatment. He set realistic goals and explained everything to me. He even insisted on going over all my fertility options at this point (beyond what I'd chosen), just to make sure I was fully educated about my options. His rates made it possible for me to undergo treatment.
I paid $8500 for one IVF cycle with PGS testing, and $3115 for fertility medications: ~$5000 for the IVF cycle itself, plus one transfer and one year storage (embryo storage $500/yr afterward) [at New Direction Fertility Centers]...Strengths: Compassionate providers, speed of getting ahold of someone in the office, no coercion to choose single embryo transfer, convenient location, and affordable prices. Weaknesses: Getting ahold of the *right* person via Klara is sometimes tricky, FET coordinator leaves things unclear, outside of Dr. Amols himself, most of the staff seems to assume you're an expert at IVF.

Once you get in to see him, be ready to hit the ground running. He's ready to start ordering tests and start treatment immediately.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Mark Amols at New Direction Fertility Centers?
He really cares about his patients, and wants them to succeed in becoming parents. He and his wife went through infertility themselves, as did some of the nurses, so the people working there really get it. Everyone is very kind and accommodating.
Describe the protocols Mark Amols used in your cycles at New Direction Fertility Centers and their degree of success.
I was put on an antagonist protocol (likely due to prior diagnosis of PCOS) and my results were good. I took: 75 IU of Menopur in the morning (constant throughout treatment) 225 IU of Gonal-F in the evening (constant throughout treatment) 25 mg Cetrotide in the morning (started day 6 of stims; this was early due to my follicles growing quicker than expected) 5,000 IU Pregnyl trigger shot I got 24 eggs at retrieval, 15 of which were mature. All 15 fertilized via ICSI, and 9 reached blastocyst stage (two at day 5, six on day 6, and one on day 7). I did PGS testing (PGT-A) and 6 of those nine were euploid, no mosaics.
Describe your experience with the nursing staff at New Direction Fertility Centers.
All the nurses were very kind and helpful. There was some confusion regarding FET scheduling, but overall I'm happy with them.

Some of this they were able to put through my insurance (ultrasounds, etc) so I paid a little less than the full $5000 out of pocket. $1200 embryo biopsy (up to 8 embryos, more billed individually, less and it carries over to next cycle) ~$2000 PGS testing at third-party lab (up to 8 embryos, more billed individually, less and it carries over to next cycle) $500 ICSI fertilization

Describe the specific things that went wrong at New Direction Fertility Centers.
My appointment to meet with the FET coordinator wasn't conveyed to the coordinator herself, and she was unable to see me that day. I was told she would message me on the app, but that was not conveyed to her as well. I still have unanswered questions. All other appointments have gone smoothly.

Dr. Amols only does 2 frozen embryo transfer to give a better chance of pregnancy...He made an effort to know us and treated us well. Every visit I felt confident we made the right decision to choose him as our fertility specialist. He kept us updated and informed of what was going on and what will happen next...We left his office always feeling informed of what was going on and what will happen next. He explained things so well. He made our office visit feel great, it didn't feel like, " oh another visit". His attitude always help us feel at ease.
The front desk to the nurses in the back were all awesome and very organized [at New Direction Fertility Centers]. You were never left alone once you're done with any procedures to blood work to consultations. They are so staffed that you will never have a problem finding anyone for help...I only had to pay $5800 for IVF...I have yet to find any weaknesses. Everything went so well with our visit to the office everytime. You have nurses who has a role. For example, there is a nurse by Dr Amols side to help record your ultrasound and follicle measurements or anything else needed recording & if you need consultation you will go into a room with another nurse who will answer your questions or help you understand your injections or other concerns, then you have your nurses who will do your blood works, you have another group of nurse who prepares you for retrieval and takes care of you after retrieval. I felt very taken care of.

Dr Amols has a personal connection to infertility and has built his own family using IVF. I feel like he has a balance between caution and taking aggressive approaches to ensure the desired result. He's got a funny personality and his own quirks that make him genuine and 100% his own person. ... I'm DOR, and he used a microdose lupron flare of 20 units morning and night, 150 menopur and 300 gonal F. Retrieval #1 we got 8 eggs, 7 mature, 5 blasts, 3 PGS normal
They [New Direction Fertility] seem a little disorganized and very dependant on Dr A for guidance. I had a few times when it was getting near closing time and I hadn't gotten a phone call with instructions. I have had to stay on top of them. Describe your experience with your nurse at New Direction Fertility Centers. (Assigned nurse: Nicole)
I had to stay on top of my calendar and protocol. Sometimes they hadn't gotten back to me with actions by 4:30pm and I had to call the office or remind them that I needed to know my instructions for the medications that night. Other times, they would default to their typical routine meds instead of remembering if I had a variation in my protocol.

They seem a little disorganized and very dependant on Dr A for guidance. I had a few times when it was getting near closing time and I hadn't gotten a phone call with instructions.
