Attention to Detail

Attention to detail is on a 1 - 10 scale, and is scored based on the rate, and severity, of errors committed by the clinic according to the patients.

For example, a severe error might be failing to inform a patient of critical information, while a small error might be failing to call a patient with results.

CDC Success Rates

This is the most recent data from the CDC. The CDC cautions that it should not be used to compare doctors and clinics. This data represents the outcomes of IVF cycles when using a person's own eggs.

For more information please see our FAQs.

Where you see a “?” on the chart, a clinic has done fewer than 20 cycles in this category and age range, so the CDC says showing percentages from this small data set would be misleading and unreliable.

Dr. Hansen is fantastic...works to get the outcome that his patients are seeking...willing to change treatment plans when needed to get the best results possible...used GonalF, Menopur, and Ganirelix...3rd cycle (2nd retrieval), we added Lupron. We were able to get 10 eggs the first round and 8 the second round. Unfortunately, only 1 embryo made it to the end
The staff [at OU Physicians Reproductive Health] are all very nice...sometimes a long wait due to the number of patients they have...overall it has been a great experience...staff that answers the phone is very knowledgeable...Call backs always happen same day...Connie is the absolute best...so caring and considerate
How was your experience with Karl Hansen at OU Physicians Reproductive Health?
Dr. Hansen is fantastic. He really works to get the outcome that his patients are seeking. He’s willing to change treatment plans when needed to get the best results possible. I trust Dr. Hansen and his staff, and I wouldn’t consider anyone else.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Karl Hansen at OU Physicians Reproductive Health?
Do it. Dr. Hansen and his staff will take great care of you.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Karl Hansen at OU Physicians Reproductive Health?
The staff knows me by name. They are so compassionate and caring. Really help ease the emotional burden this process creates.
Describe the protocols Karl Hansen used in your cycles at OU Physicians Reproductive Health and their degree of success.
I used GonalF, Menopur, and Ganirelix during my first cycle and second cycle. The second retrieval was canceled because I was not responding to the meds during this time. For the 3rd cycle (2nd retrieval), we added Lupron. We were able to get 10 eggs the first round and 8 the second round. Unfortunately, only 1 embryo made it to the end from the first cycle.
Describe your experience with your nurse at OU Physicians Reproductive Health. (Assigned nurse: Connie)
Connie is the absolute best. She’s so caring and considerate. She was also a surrogate previously which is very helpful to have her insight and knowledge, since I will also need a gestational carrier.
Describe your experience with OU Physicians Reproductive Health.
The staff are all very nice. There is sometimes a long wait due to the number of patients they have, but overall it has been a great experience. The staff that answers the phone is very knowledgeable and can help you or find the person that can. Call backs always happen same day.
Describe your experience with your monitoring appointments at OU Physicians Reproductive Health.
Their office is run like a well oiled machine. They’ve recently had an influx of patients due to another clinic in town closing. They’ve hired more personnel to help meet the needs of the larger group of patients.
Describe the costs associated with your care under Karl Hansen at OU Physicians Reproductive Health.
I have purchased a Fertility Access plan to help cover the costs. My insurance pays nothing at all. The plan I purchased, covers 2 cycles. Medication, deposit, and anesthesia not included in that price. Once I’m finished with this 3rd retrieval, I will have spent $30k. About half of that is a the loan I acquired for the fertility access plan.
Describe Karl Hansen's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at OU Physicians Reproductive Health.
We have not done embryo transfers yet due to only having one embryo ready.

Dr. Hansen encouraged one embryo, but left the decision to me. I chose two embryos each time and he did not argue...[he] was just the right balance of warm and professional...He spoke to my husband and myself for over an hour, about IVF My husband had previously been tested and we knew that IVF was our only choice..
I rarely had to wait more than 10 minutes for my appointments at OU...I always received prompt, same-day call backs from the same person [nurse], when I left messages of questions I had, between visits...I spent about $10,000 on IVF, each time, with ICSI for both...you will not see your doctor every time, especially if you start your treatment on the wrong rotation, because they teach classes. You will be something of a group project, however, it is an outstanding group
How was your experience with Karl Hansen at OU Physicians Reproductive Health?
I met Dr. Hansen through a virtual appointment during the Covid-19 lockdown. He spoke to my husband and myself for over an hour, about IVF My husband had previously been tested and we knew that IVF was our only choice, due to his sperm count. Dr. Hansen didn't make us repeat these tests, needlessly, and didn't discuss other things that either weren't possible with my husband's sperm count, like IUI, nor did he broach using donor sperm. He was very clear about our chances of conceiving and I never felt like he'd given us false hope, even after my first cycle failed. He was compassionate and clear that he thought my husband's sperm was the problem. He didn't push us to use donor sperm, but was also clear that he thought it would be more effective. When we began our second treatment, I started on a different rotation and didn't see Dr. Hansen quite as much, because OU is a university facility and all of their doctors teach. The doctors I saw in his place had all of the necessary information needed, however, and I still felt like they thought of me as an individual. Dr. Hansen did almost everything the first cycle and did a wonderful job, at that. The second time, he was not there for the egg retrieval, which I would have appreciated knowing in advance, but I'm not sure who is to blame for that procedural fumble.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Karl Hansen at OU Physicians Reproductive Health?
Dr. Hansen is wonderful, but OU is a university clinic. It's the best in the area, according to all CDC records, but you will likely not see Dr. Hansen, every time, because he teaches classes. He might not do your retrieval and he might not do your transfer. I had experiences with every doctor in the clinic, during my two back-to-back cycles and they were all great, though I'd have preferred to only see Hansen.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Karl Hansen at OU Physicians Reproductive Health?
Dr. Hansen was just the right balance of warm and professional. I felt cared for and like an individual, but I also didn't feel like he was trying overly hard to comfort me or manage my feelings, which I specifically did not want. When my first cycle failed, he called me on a Sunday and spent about 15-20 minutes on the phone with me, discussing why and what we could do differently. He guessed that my husband's sperm was the culprit and while he supported trying again and suggested collecting the sample closer to fertilization, he was very clear that if we used donor sperm, he felt we would have much better odds. I never felt pressured, either way, and my husband and I were able to really consider all of the facts to make an informed decision.
Describe the protocols Karl Hansen used in your cycles at OU Physicians Reproductive Health and their degree of success.
My first cycle was pretty standard. I started with 150 ml of Follistim and 1 unit of menopur. After six days, the Follistim was upped to 225 ml. I took Ganirelix for three days, stopped for one and triggered on day 10. I responded well, with 21 eggs, 16 mature. The second time, I started with 175 ml of Follistim, which was dropped after a few days and then once more. I took Ganirelix for three days, stopped for 1, and triggered on day 9. This produced 22 eggs, 16 mature.
Describe your experience with the nursing staff at OU Physicians Reproductive Health.
I honestly don't remember if I had an assigned nurse, in large part because everyone was wearing masks and it was often a different person taking my blood. I think I was, though, because I always received prompt, same-day call backs from the same person, when I left messages of questions I had, between visits. Regardless, I don't remember any nurses being anything less than compassionate and friendly, even when one mentioned that she hadn't had power for nine days, because an ice storm hit during my second cycle. One nurse even comforted me when I finally broke down after my second egg retrieval.
Describe your experience with OU Physicians Reproductive Health.
OU is a university facility, which means that its' innovative and has the best success rates in the area, as a result, according to CDC records. It's also the cheapest in Oklahoma and many of the surrounding states. My actual IVF treatment, without medication, was less than $10,000. This also means, however, that you will not see your doctor every time, especially if you start your treatment on the wrong rotation, because they teach classes. You will be something of a group project, however, it is an outstanding group. I had experiences with every doctor and they were all overwhelmingly positive. I had the option of another nearby clinic, which cost more and would allow me to see the same doctor for every visit, but that clinic's ratings were nowhere near as good as OU's and all that mattered to me was getting a successful pregnancy, which I did, with OU. There were also many times when I was seen with a resident in the room, so be prepared to have two or three people present during ultrasounds and procedures. The doctors will always discreet, so it didn't make much difference to me, since I was completely covered and they were all looking at the ultrasounds. I was even asked if a resident could view my egg retrieval and gave approval, though I don't know whether or not I actually would have been allowed to refuse. My transfers seemed to be done in a room full of people, but by this time, I didn't care who watched, especially if it would train future doctors to help other women get pregnant, because I just wanted a baby.
Describe your experience with your monitoring appointments at OU Physicians Reproductive Health.
I rarely had to wait more than 10 minutes for my appointments at OU. The one time I did was my only Friday appointment and was, unfortunately, just a couple of days after my retrieval, so sitting in the chair was quite painful, as I was on medication to prevent OHSS. However, I probably had over two dozen appointments here, in four months, so I consider that to be pretty good odds, albeit bad timing. If you arrive early, there will be a line at the door and they'll take names in order, so that does help, if you want to get in and out, but you shouldn't have to wait much past your appointment time, either way. A nurse always took me back and promptly did my bloodwork, or I could wait up to five or ten minutes for an ultrasound. I will probably have IVF flashbacks for the rest of my life, when I see HGTV, though, because that's what always played on the TV's.
Describe the costs associated with your care under Karl Hansen at OU Physicians Reproductive Health.
I spent about $10,000 on IVF, each time, with ICSI for both. This is lower than anything I've ever seen online. The medication was around $4,000, likely because the issue was not with me, but my husband, and I responded very well. This clinic uses SandsRX, which operates out of Texas and offers excellent, timely service. One day delivery is an option at no additional charge and extremely reliable, but the clinic has backups, if you're not keeping track and run out. Keep track of your medications, absolutely, becasue that is all on you and I don't think that's unique to this clinic. I used California Cryobank for sperm donation, the second time, and that was an additional $2500, because OU wanted me to order two vials. We only used one and the other is frozen, however I doubt we'll use it, because we're pregnant with twins and froze 6 additional embryos. The cost to freeze was an additional charge, around $1000.

How was your experience with LaTasha Craig at OU Physicians Reproductive Health?
I have seen Dr. Craig for our initial consultation for IVF, for an HSG follow up, and I have surgery scheduled with her as the next steps in our treatment prior to starting IVF. Dr. Craig has been empathetic, extremely knowledgeable, prepared, and thorough each time I have seen her. I am impressed with her ability to treat her patients with a laser focus while explaining in detail the risks and benefits of each type of treatment. Having dealt with infertility for nearly four years, I have many questions about testing, treatment, recommendations, and outcomes, and she has been informed and helpful about each one. One of my favorite experiences with Dr. Craig was after we found out from my husband's urologist that he suspected a y-chromosome microdeletion and recommended we don't transfer any male embryos, which was a devastating thought for us. After that appointment, I saw Dr. Craig for an ultrasound and follow-up from my abnormal HSG, and she made time to discuss my fears about that during my ultrasound appointment, too. It was not only extremely reassuring to hear her expert opinion, but her optimism truly saved us from feeling lost and worrying about that possibility in the future. I love her heart for her patients and for cutting-edge research, too; as a patient, I know I'm in excellent hands when she discusses trials and medications that may help us achieve a pregnancy and may also offer us a financial or other benefit. She truly cares about her patients and is committed to each person in her clinic, and I am so grateful she is leading our care and treatment. I cannot recommend her enough.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of LaTasha Craig at OU Physicians Reproductive Health?
Please call her office and make an appointment to see her–you won't regret it! She is one of the most incredible providers I have ever had the privilege to see, and I am truly excited to do IVF with her guiding my care. Dr. Craig honestly cares about her patients and wants the best for each one no matter the circumstances, and she is efficient, thorough, compassionate, and understanding. As a provider, she has married her love for medicine, research, and helping patients achieve their goals of growing their families with her optimistic, empathetic personality and incredible expertise. This makes for a warm, wonderful experience as a patient, even when you are dealing with something as complex, challenging, and heart-wrenching as infertility. If you are new to infertility and have a lot of questions about treatment options, or if you are looking for someone who will treat you as a friend and experience the highs and lows of infertility with you, Dr. Craig is the provider for you. She takes her time answering your questions, conducts a thorough workup prior to any treatment, and she adjusts her plan of treatment for you based on your desires and results. She is simply outstanding!
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with LaTasha Craig at OU Physicians Reproductive Health?
From the moment I called Dr. Craig's office to set up my initial appointment, I was warmly regarded using my name, her staff were knowledgable and kind, and their follow-through with my questions and appointments is the best I have ever received. When I had my first consultation with Dr. Craig, I could have cried out of joy because she was familiar with our history, compassionately asked us about our goals and expectations, and truly listened to us the entire time we were together. Not only did we develop a plan of treatment and testing that we were excited about, but she has moved quickly and thoroughly to help us get to our goal of growing our family. When my husband was diagnosed with y-chromosome microdeletion and Dr. Craig's team found a polyp during my HSG, we were treated with empathy and encouragement when the team could tell we were discouraged by these setbacks. I cannot stress enough how kind, caring, and expertly educated Dr. Craig and her staff are, and we are looking forward to doing IVF with them knowing we are truly a team working together in every possible way.
Describe the protocols LaTasha Craig used in your cycles at OU Physicians Reproductive Health and their degree of success.
I have seen Dr. Craig for our initial IVF consultation, an HSG follow-up ultrasound, labwork, and I am currently in the queue for a polypectomy surgery with her. In our IVF consultation, Dr. Craig reviewed our past treatments (IUI with Letrozole 2.5 mg for one cycle, IUI with Letrozole 5.0 mg and Ovidrel trigger shot x2 cycles, none of which resulted in pregnancies, all with a different provider) and discussed a variety of treatment options. We ultimately agreed on pursuing IVF with ICSI and a potential Menopur clinical trial, which we are in the process of pre-qualifying for. Dr. Craig ordered an AMH and TSH blood draw at our initial appointment and was pleased with my results. Her PA conducted my HSG and discovered a uterine polyp, which puts our treatment on hold until I have that surgically removed and heal. Dr. Craig did a follow-up ultrasound with me to confirm the polyp, determine the size and location, and discuss surgery with me, and this was at the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic which halted all treatment. Dr. Craig has been monitoring me remotely and prescribed birth control (Pirmella which contains progesterone and estrogen) to keep the polyp from growing and prepare me for surgery in the next few weeks. Her recommendation is for us to pursue IVF with an ICSI protocol when we have completed our pre-treatment workups, which include FSH and Estradiol, a pap smear, and an ultrasound for me, and carrier screening if my husband and I wish to do so.
Describe your experience with the nursing staff at OU Physicians Reproductive Health.
Wow, Dr. Craig's nursing staff is OUTSTANDING. From the first time I walked into the clinic, I was met with kindness and incredible expertise from every nurse I have seen. What blew me away was that each nurse I've seen–3 different nurses at this point in our treatment–remembered me, called me by name, and asked me how I was in our treatment process with detail (i.e., after my HSG that resulted in an abnormality, how I was feeling and not to be stressed about surgery). I have never experienced such incredible care in my entire life. Also worth noting: Dr. Craig has a team of research nurses who are knowledgeable about trials patients may qualify for, and the research nurse who is following up with us is prompt, kind, encouraging, and thorough about answering questions and pre-screening us for trials we might qualify for. Each nurse truly loves her work and cares about her patients, and each nurse goes the extra mile to make sure patients are comfortable in some otherwise humiliating or uncomfortable treatments and procedures. For example, prior to my HSG, my nurse walked me through every step of the process, made sure I knew what to expect, reassured me when I was anxious, and even waited to pull a warm sheet out of the dryer for me to cover up with while I was positioned for the procedure. Dr. Craig's team is next-level in the best possible way!
Describe your experience with OU Physicians Reproductive Health.
Dr. Craig and her team have created an empathetic, efficient practice and I have benefited countless times from her thorough planning as a patient. Dr. Craig's front office staff coordinate appointments, leave messages for providers and get back to me in a prompt timeframe, and have never forgotten my treatment plan, name, whether I have paid my balances, or any detail of my experience as a patient. I'm astounded by how much they remember about me each time I come in, and they are consistently kind, which really means a lot when you get bad news or have painful procedures done. I have not experienced anything negative at all since becoming a patient of Dr. Craig's. My previous provider's clinic asked if I had ever been a patient and couldn't find my file when I asked for my records to be sent to Dr. Craig's office, which made me so sick. I did two consultations and three failed IUIs with that clinic and provider, and really thought they cared about the outcomes of my treatment and my care, but it was disheartening when they didn't even remember I was a patient. I have never, ever had an experience like that with Dr. Craig or her team. They even go as far as to double-check your insurance prior to each appointment and make the financial ramifications of infertility treatment as reasonable and easy to deal with as possible. I can't recommend them enough! If you are looking for a clinic who cares about every aspect of your care, Dr. Craig's team is the team for you!
Describe the costs associated with your care under LaTasha Craig at OU Physicians Reproductive Health.
My cost of care with Dr. Craig has been extremely reasonable and I am thrilled by how much treatment will potentially cost. I have had a consultation, two ultrasounds, labwork (TSH and AMH), an HSG and follow-up consultation, and Dr. Craig's team has worked closely with my insurance to cover as much as they can. As we are working towards meeting our deductible, I have had to pay a portion of each procedure or appointment, and it has been under $500 at this stage (including labwork and follow-up for my husband). Dr. Craig said our IVF cycle costs $16,000 at her clinic, which is a dramatic improvement from the $25,000 we were quoted at another clinic. We know there will be other costs associated for our treatment including carrier testing ($380) and PGT (preimplantation genetic testing / screening) at a cost per embryo, which we will discuss when we get to that stage of our treatment. Dr. Craig knows exactly how much everything costs and weighs the benefits and risks of each treatment instead of blindly trying everything at the cost of the patient. We discussed IUIs with injectable medication and monitoring, and she said the risks were too high and the possibility for pregnancy was too low and removed that from our options rather than trying it and putting us into financial strain. I appreciate her perspective and ability to create the best, most accessible plan for her patients!
Describe LaTasha Craig's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at OU Physicians Reproductive Health.
Dr. Craig and I have discussed this in our initial consultation, and she feels strongly about transferring one embryo at a time to minimize the risks to baby and mom and also minimize the risk of multiple births. This was her expert opinion on fresh and frozen embryo transfers, and it's a big reason we feel great about pursuing treatment with her.

She [Dr. Burks] was very thorough with my diagnosis and our treatment plan. She was also accepting of me trying different ovulation-inducing medications and progesterone when a cycle failed. However, I didn’t spend as much time with her as I would have liked at appointments...I do believe she puts a little too much emphasis on weight loss in overweight/obese patients. She won’t start your treatment plan until you lose weight...a thorough diagnosis, a treatment plan very specific to your needs, and to-the-point explanations...
The clinic [OU Physicians Reproductive Health] is very organized. I’d always get calls about my testing results and they made sure to call me back on the same day whenever I had to leave a message. Calls are done within a few hours. They also made sure to inform me when my next appointment would occur. Their weakness is their patient portal. When I was an active patient there, the portal didn’t work and because of that, my testing results and general treatment information was never available from home...
How was your experience with Heather Burks at OU Physicians Reproductive Health?
If you want a thorough diagnosis, a treatment plan very specific to your needs, and to-the-point explanations, she’s your doctor. I always appreciated how direct she was because sometimes that’s necessary when it comes to addressing infertility. She’s detailed in explaining your chances at conceiving, side effects to certain medications, and the risks to conceiving multiples. When Letrozole didn’t work for me and I suggested Follistim injections, she approved it with an open mind. When I thought my progesterone was too low after ovulation, she prescribed progesterone suppositories. She always asks to hear any questions or concerns you might have before ending an appointment and she does her best at answering them. However, I do believe she puts a little too much emphasis on weight loss in overweight/obese patients. She won’t start your treatment plan until you lose weight. She didn’t specify how much I had to lose (I lost 20 pounds in a month because she gave me prescription diet pills), so it might not be a large amount of weight loss required for some patients. But losing weight didn’t change how I was anovulatory and it definitely didn’t get rid of my PCOS because that’s impossible. So that felt like an unnecessary extra month of waiting and not being able to conceive. Additionally, her bedside manner is very neutral. She’s not unsupportive, but if you’re an emotional person who needs that extra comfort in your care, you might not find it with her. She also is a very busy doctor, so she might not be around to perform some of your testing/procedures (she wasn’t there for my HSG or my IUIs).
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Heather Burks at OU Physicians Reproductive Health?
Always voice your questions and concerns because she will do her best at addressing them. And don’t be afraid to run treatments ideas through her because she will hear them out.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Heather Burks at OU Physicians Reproductive Health?
With Dr. Burks, I felt more like a human than just a number, but there is room for improvement. She was very thorough with my diagnosis and our treatment plan. She was also accepting of me trying different ovulation-inducing medications and progesterone when a cycle failed. However, I didn’t spend as much time with her as I would have liked at appointments.
Describe the protocols Heather Burks used in your cycles at OU Physicians Reproductive Health and their degree of success.
I have anovulatory PCOS, so she first started me with a medicated timed intercourse cycle. I took 5 mg of Letrozole, and even though I did ovulate, it didn’t help me get pregnant and my progesterone was on the low side. So we began IUI instead, but with Letrozole, Pregnyl triggershot, and progesterone suppositories. IUI #1 was unsuccessful. Since the standard is 3 IUIs before considering IVF, we took a more aggressive approach with IUI #2 by starting Follistim injections instead of Letrozole. I had to inject very specific dosages of Follistim to avoid stimulating too many follicles and I was heavily monitored via ultrasounds every few days. This was a slow process and took 2-3 weeks before I was ready for the triggershot. IUI #2 was successful and I got pregnant with twins.
Describe your experience with the nursing staff at OU Physicians Reproductive Health.
I saw the same 3-4 nurses. For the most part, they were fine and my time with them was okay. But there was one nurse who I had to advocate for myself to because she didn’t like the suggestions I’d want to ask Dr. Burks about trying and I found that unprofessional.

Describe the costs associated with your care under Heather Burks at OU Physicians Reproductive Health.
Definitely depends on your insurance coverage (I had Healthchoice), but my IUIs were $350. Letrozole was $5. Follistim was very expensive; I spent around $1,000 for the vial. Monitoring ultrasounds added up and became expensive because I got them fairly regularly.

What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Karl Hansen at OU Physicians Reproductive Health?
Know that he’s smart, but isn’t there to give you a hug.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Karl Hansen at OU Physicians Reproductive Health?
He was not empathetic to lots of difficult situations that I encountered over the years.
Describe the protocols Karl Hansen used in your cycles at OU Physicians Reproductive Health and their degree of success.
Cycle 1–Antagonist Cycle 2–Antagonist and HGH Cycle 3–Flare and HGH (*best results) I was a poor responder.
Describe your experience with the nursing staff at OU Physicians Reproductive Health.
I encountered some “new” nurses along the way that made me feel like I had more knowledge than they did about infertility and the treatments. But Dr. Hansens head nurse, Connie, is amazing!

Describe the specific things that went wrong at OU Physicians Reproductive Health.
I was having a miscarriage and they gave me the options to either take a pill, wait 2 weeksfor it to happen naturally, or have a D&C. I waited the 2 weeks like the my doctor recommended, and it wasn’t happening naturally, so I decided to have a D&C. Then they said they couldn’t get me on the schedule for it for another 6 weeks. I could only discuss this with the nurses and schedulers and could never get ahold of the actual doctor. Once I finally demanded to speak to Dr. Hansen, he got me in for a D&C the next day. Also, during an egg retrieval, Dr. Hansen caused internal bleeding into my uterine cavity by puncturing my uterus during the operation. It was extremely painful, and I felt there wasn’t much empathy for that, if any. He seemed more concerned for himself than for me. The treatment plan going forward from that regarding embryo transfers was then altered, and I believe I could have had a different outcome had it not been for this very painful mistake.

How was your experience with Heather Burks at OU Physicians Reproductive Health?
Dr. Burks takes all the time we need as patients to explain everything fully, even when we have a million questions. She gives direct answers to questions and provides relevant and explanatory responses. She empathizes with us when we feel disappointed and she celebrates with us when things look good.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Heather Burks at OU Physicians Reproductive Health?
Dr. Burks is very patient and understanding. She is also extremely knowledgeable and knows which next steps to recommend. The is thorough and kind. Dr. Burks explains potential future treatment with tact and grace.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Heather Burks at OU Physicians Reproductive Health?
She and her nurses have such a great bedside manner. Dr. Burks always seems to know what I may be feeling at certain points in my treatment and she addresses both my medical/physical & emotional needs whether the news was what I wanted to hear or not.
Describe the protocols Heather Burks used in your cycles at OU Physicians Reproductive Health and their degree of success.
We followed a standard protocol with initial testing done to check my tubes, ovaries, and uterus. My husband was seen by a urologist to have testing done. Once results came back on those, we were deemed "fit for treatment" with some unexplained infertility on my side and male factor infertility on his. Dr. Burks felt that we were good candidates for IUI, as our diagnosis did not indicate significant inability to conceive via this method. I was treated with Clomid (and then later Femara - which I much preffered) and the dosages of that medication went up each month. I used the Pregnyl for my "trigger" injection each month. My husbands counts were considered "low" but not too low to achieve pregnancy. He began taking Clomid to up his counts. My follicle numbers are low, which also could have impacted the negative results. After 5 rounds of failed IUI, our next steps are IVF treatment. Dr. Burks recommends ICSI for our course of treatment due to male factor infertility and less than ideal follicle count (although not diagnosed with low ovarian reserve). Dr. Burks beleives IVF with ICSI will be the best course of treatment moving forward.
Describe your experience with your nurse at OU Physicians Reproductive Health. (Assigned nurse: Bri & Amber)
We are always greeted professionally and cheerfully, considering the circumstances. I trust the nurse team to give me correct information and to take good care of us. I feel they are extremely competent and I feel I am in good hands.
Describe your experience with OU Physicians Reproductive Health.
The clinic is always busy, and even more so on a Friday. It can be difficult to get an appointment initially, as they book fairly far out. The office staff is welcoming and efficient, and seems to know their patients. There are a few parking spaces out front of the building, but the best place to park is the lot to the west of the building. The office is easy to locate, directly at the top of the stairs on the second floor (you can take the elevator also, I just found the stairs are quicker). You can expect to wait for your appointment, sometimes beyond your scheduled appointment time.
Describe the costs associated with your care under Heather Burks at OU Physicians Reproductive Health.
Costs associated with IUI are generally $700 per cycle, which is NOT covered in any part by our insurance. The cost mentioned does include a "cash" discount.
Describe Heather Burks's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at OU Physicians Reproductive Health.
Dr. Burks recommends no more than 2 embryos being transferred at one time.

Know what questions you would like to ask before your appointment and let her speak first (especially at an IVF consult). She may address your questions before you even ask.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with LaTasha Craig at OU Physicians Reproductive Health?
Dr. Craig and the entire nursing staff are not only brilliant, but each of them genuinely care.
Describe the protocols LaTasha Craig used in your cycles at OU Physicians Reproductive Health and their degree of success.
First four cycles: Letrozole only (ovulated, no pregnancy) Next four cycles: Letrozole + HCG trigger + IUI (follicles each cycle, no pregnancy) Ninth cycle: Chlomid + HCG trigger + IUI (follicles, no pregnancy) IVF: Follistem, Menopur, Ganirelix, HCG trigger (30 eggs retrieved, 14 day 3, 11 day 5, 8 PGS tested, 5 normal embryos frozen) Transfer cycle: Waiting to begin after pandemic restrictions lifted
Describe your experience with your nurse at OU Physicians Reproductive Health. (Assigned nurse: Ashley, Amber, Brianna, Connie)
Ashley, Amber, Brianna and Connie have worked with me the most. Each appointment they were fully prepared for our case. We left each appointment clearly understanding the next steps and schedule. The care they showed before and after egg retrieval surgery was outstanding.
Describe your experience with OU Physicians Reproductive Health.
The clinic is very organized. Once you are a patient, you can proceed with treatment as your doctor plans. It did take us about four months on the waiting list to get our first appointment, so begin that process as soon as you know you will need an RE. Be prepared with questions and notes any time you call so the front office can either answer your question or be able to leave a message for your nurse.
Describe the costs associated with your care under LaTasha Craig at OU Physicians Reproductive Health.
Costs are still ongoing. Insurance does not cover any infertility treatments. By the end of IVF cycle, we will have spent $10,000-15,000 at OURH.
Describe LaTasha Craig's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at OU Physicians Reproductive Health.
We will do a single embryo transfer because we pursued PGS testing. Multiple is allowed if no testing is done.

How was your experience with LaTasha Craig at OU Physicians Reproductive Health?
She was very direct about our options, chances and the financial obligations associated with each option. She was not pushy and truly wanted us to have all of the information necessary to make an informed decision.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of LaTasha Craig at OU Physicians Reproductive Health?

The recommended strategy was to do medicated IUI cycles with Donor Sperm. She told us this would be a reasonable place to start and didn't feel that elevated to IVF was necessary to begin treatment. She suggested that I may require a second HSG and potential surgery if we proceeded onto IVF and wanted to avoid such drastic measures until we exhausted the less invasive options.

Describe the costs associated with your care under LaTasha Craig at OU Physicians Reproductive Health.
The initial consult was $32. The infectious disease test was $100 to the Oklahoma Blood Institute and I am still waiting on the clinic portion after insurance. I believe it will be around $60. We were told that 1 medicated IUI cycle would be around $120 in medication, no more than $350 for sperm prep, and the cost of our donor sperm.
Describe LaTasha Craig's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at OU Physicians Reproductive Health.
We did not discuss the specifics of and embryo transfer since we focused on IUI procedures.

Kind and understanding. Very well educated. Explains things in great detail and in a thorough way. Called me personally to discuss why the IVF failed. Already had a game plan for the next cycle. Not many weaknesses. Not the most outgoing person but still a kind and gentle physician.

Describe the protocols Karl Hansen used in your cycles at OU Physicians Reproductive Health and their degree of success.
Treatment strategy was after completing timed intercourses and 1 IUI with another physician. He advised that we continue IUIs and gave their statistical chances. He also gave the option of oral meds or injectables. He did explain that there would only be a marginal increase of success with injectables with our diagnosis. We completed 4 cycles and then met again to discuss IVF when we were ready. We then discussed that given that I make a lot of eggs, he expected that we would produce a lot of embryos. He did suggest using ICSI considering we had unexplained infertility. If enough embryos were made, he recommended fertilizing one with ICSI and one with natural fertilization in the Petri dish. We did injectables and like he anticipated, I made a lot. I was concerned about OHSS and he listened. He prescribed cabergoline. Our egg retrieval went as expected and I did not feel anything. He was at the bedside as soon as I woke up. He did this face to face which I appreciate. We did our transfer with one of his colleagues, Dr. Craig. It was wonderful. She played music and it was full of hope. Unfortunately, the cycle failed. Dr. Hansen called me as soon as the results returned. I was bleeding so I knew it wasn’t positive but I appreciated his phone call so very much.

I used insurance and cash payment for IUIs. I owed $350 for each IUI. Not including $100 trigger shot. IVF - we used Attain 3 cycle We paid $20,500 which did not include medications, blood tests, or some labs which was an additional $400-600.

[Dr. LaTasha Craig] was warm and very direct. We started our first appointment in her office, which felt safer and less medical...rather than half naked in an exam room...We talked about my expectations, and what I have already been through. We set up a plan of action together from the get go and she let me know that if I had any hesitations to just let her know...my husbands sample was very abnormal with very little chance of conception without an IUI or IVF. At this point we chose to no longer pursue having a child because we could not afford to continue.
It does take a long time to get in for your first appointment, but once you are established they [OU Physicians Reproductive Health] are very easy to work with. She first did an ultrasound to check and see if I had a healthy amount of eggs and follicles, which I did. I had already had a blood test that showed I was ovulating so she did not do that. She started me on clomid for my next cycle and also suggested that I get an HSG and my husband have his sample tested. She told me that if the clomid did not work in the first or second cycle that we could go ahead and start IUI, but only up to 6 cycles. The clomid did not work and my HSG was normal. However, my husbands sample was very abnormal with very little chance of conception without an IUI or IVF. At this point we chose to no longer pursue having a child because we could not afford to continue.

She [Dr. LaTasha Craig] has provided us with the facts and statistics on single vs multiple embryo transfers...has an excellent bedside manner. She has always treated me with respect and kindness...always makes me feel comfortable at my appointments. She takes time to explain things thoroughly and is very patient with our questions. She has a very caring and positive demeanor. Although we have not been able to get pregnant yet, I trust in her expertise and the plan she has recommended for us.
The nursing staff [at OU Physicians Reproductive Health] has always been extremely professional, warm, kind, and friendly towards me and my husband. I have met many different nurses and we have had a wonderful experience with every single one of them...it would be nice to be able to access test results on the patient portal...The staff seems well organized and have always provided me with compassionate care. They are knowledgeable, trustworthy, and always able to put me at ease even though it can sometimes be an uncomfortable and emotional situation.

Describe the protocols LaTasha Craig used in your cycles at OU Physicians Reproductive Health and their degree of success.
We have done 5 rounds of IUI. Each cycle has been similar - taking 5 mg Femara for cycle days 3-7. Ultrasound monitoring was done around cycle day 9 or 10. Triggered with Pregnyl when ultrasound showed follicles were ready and had IUI performed 36 hours later. We have not yet had a positive pregnancy test.

Also, it would be nice to be able to access test results on the patient portal.
Describe the costs associated with your care under LaTasha Craig at OU Physicians Reproductive Health.
My insurance covered all diagnostic costs. If I am remembering correctly, each cycle of IUI ended up costing around $350-500 out of pocket.

How was your experience with Karl Hansen at OU Physicians Reproductive Health?
Dr. Hansen is very thorough and takes the time to explain all your options along with the pros and cons of each option. He has as a good be side manner and is easy to speak with. We had a very complicated situation with a male fertility factor and he worked closely with the urologist to devise a plan.

Describe the protocols Karl Hansen used in your cycles at OU Physicians Reproductive Health and their degree of success.
We started seeing Hansen because we thought our problem was female related, turns out it was not. Hansen was instrumental in determining the best way to work closely with urologist given the unknown outcome of the male fertility factor. I already had eggs frozen from years before due to possible chemo treatment that ended up not taking place. Therefore we had to determine whether or not to undergo another fresh cycle or use frozen eggs or do both those options in conjunction with my husband's procedure -weighing the pros and cons of each scenario. Unfortunately, my husband procedure was not successful, therefore I am grateful we did not do a fresh cycle.

Sadly, we did not get to the part in the process too much. But he did express single would be his preference earlier on in our meetings with him, especially because I have an autoimmune disease.

She [Dr. LaTasha Craig] has answered all our questions. It has never felt like she's rushing us. She has impeccable bed side manner. She is kind and compassionate and has always been upfront with our treatment plan and what to expect. She has given us a ton of options and guided us with kindness and facts!...She takes our concerns into consideration and tells us why she has chosen the course of treatment she has.
As far as I know it works by referrals only [at OU Physicians Reproductive Health], so make sure you get a referral from your OBGYN. Our wait wasn't very long, i think maybe 3 weeks...we have seen several doctor in the clinic. We did 4 IUI'S through a clinical trial she [Dr. Craig] recommended. We are in the unexplained infertility category and our treatment protocols have changed, but only slightly. I always responded well to treatment, it just didn't work. I dont think being more aggressive would have helped.
How was your experience with LaTasha Craig at OU Physicians Reproductive Health?
Dr. Craig is candid and kind. I have always been able to ask all my questions and they have all been answered in a simple and concise manner. She has never treated us like we're just one more clinic number. She takes our concerns into consideration and tells us why she has chosen the course of treatment she has.

Dr. Craig spent time to answer all of my questions and to describe the IVF process in detail, complete with handwritten diagrams and charts. Her personality was a great fit for us, as she was very down to earth and had a sense of humor about the whole thing (which was how my husband and I got through our infertility). She was encouraging, yet realistic when telling us our options. And when our first IVF cycle worked, I felt like she genuinely shared in our joy.
IVF cycle was around $9000 [at OU Physicians Reproductive Health]. The medications were just over $6000. There were some additional costs, like anesthesia for the egg retrieval, bloodwork, etc...I like that this clinic is a fertility only clinic, unlike other fertility clinics in town that see regular OB patients, and therefore have lots of children in the waiting room. The front desk staff was very friendly and organized. They have early morning appointments and never made me wait very long, which made it possible to visit the clinic before work.

Although she was efficient, Dr. Craig was always very friendly and warm towards me and my husband. The staff was extremely personable and friendly both on the phone and in person. I actually look forward to my appointments because I like being around them all so much.

I don’t remember the treatment, but we did an IVF cycle that seemed pretty typical. Before that, she performed a salpingectomy to remove a hydrosalpinx on one of my tubes, saying that the fluid from the blocked tube could decrease our chances of a successful pregnancy.
Describe your experience with your nurse at OU Physicians Reproductive Health. (Assigned nurse: Catherine and Amber)
Catherine and Amber were the best. So friendly and nice, while still being super professional. Also, their blood sticks did not hurt, which is important when you’re getting blood drawn all the time!

They weren’t PGS tested, And I did not feel like I could handle another transfer financially or emotionally, so we transferred them both and got a singleton pregnancy.

Dr. Craig is caring, upbeat, thorough, and truthful. She is a wonderful doctor and has a great bedside manner while at the same time being honest and upfront about the diagnosis and treatment options.... For IVF, she chose the Microdose Lupron Protocol. I primed for three weeks with Aygestin bc I can’t take regular birth control. Three days after stopping Aygestin I started Lupron... They retrieved 19 eggs. 11 were mature, they fertilized 6 with ICSI and 5 conventional.
All of the nurses at OU are fabulous. I have never once had a negative experience with any of them. They are all extremely compassionate.... My only complaint is that nothing is done electronically other than your records. I wish they would utilize their patient portal or email with results. They call patients every afternoon with results so I always feel like I’m on edge waiting for the phone call with a pen and notepad waiting to write things down.

She will do everything in her power to make sure you get pregnant!
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with LaTasha Craig at OU Physicians Reproductive Health?
She was very empathetic when speaking to me about IUI and IVF.
Describe the protocols LaTasha Craig used in your cycles at OU Physicians Reproductive Health and their degree of success.
For my five IUI’s I took 2.5 mg Femara twice a day CD 3-7, came in for an ultrasound on CD 9-10 and sometimes once more if needed. Triggered with 10,000 IU Pregnyl and did the IUI exactly 36 hours later. I always produced 1-3 mature follicles during that time. I was told to take a pregnancy test 15 days after the IUI. For IVF, she chose the Microdose Lupron Protocol. I primed for three weeks with Aygestin bc I can’t take regular birth control. Three days after stopping Aygestin I started Lupron 10ML twice a day. On the third day we added in 375 follostim and 75 Menopur along with the Lupron 10ML twice a day. I had bloodwork done on the third day of stims and my estrogen was 277. They decreased my Follistim to 350. I had bloodwork and ultrasound on day 5, 7, 8 and 9 of stims. They decreased my Follistim each time bc my estrogen kept coming back on the high end. My follicle count on my baseline ultrasound for IVF was 9–10 and on Day 9 of stims I had 23 follicles. I was down to 200 Follistim on Day 9. I triggered at 12:30AM the morning of Day 10 with 10,000 IU a Pregnyl and had my egg retrieval at 11:30 AM on Day 11 (35 hours after trigger). They retrieved 19 eggs. 11 were mature, they fertilized 6 with ICSI and 5 conventional. 3 from the icsi group fertilized and 3 from the conventional group fertilized. On Day 3 we had 3 B+ embryos, 1 B and 2 C’s. She recommended transferring two in Day 3 or waiting until Day 5 and transferring one. We do not want twins so we decided to transfer one on day 5. It was a 4B+A embryo. On Day 6 when my clinic freezes, we had one 4BB+ embryo left to freeze. I came in for bloodwork 10 days after my transfer and 15 days after my egg retrieval and I was not pregnant. We are now gearing up to start a frozen embryo transfer with our one frozen embryo. Dr. Craig recommended not PGS testing due to my age and low AMH and no past history of miscarriages. Based on my past AFC of 5-12 she estimated we’d get approximately 7-10 eggs and we ended up getting 19 so I responded really well to the meds. My husband also has mild male factor infertility with a 1-2% morphology, 37% motility and count of 16-22 million.
Describe your experience with your nurse at OU Physicians Reproductive Health. (Assigned nurse: Amber Jackson)
All of the nurses at OU are fabulous. I have never once had a negative experience with any of them. They are all extremely compassionate. Each time they call on the phone with results they take time to ask how I’m doing and answer any questions I have without seeming rushed. They given me hugs, consoled me when I’ve cried, and remained optimistic about me getting pregnant throughout the whole process. Amber and Connie are definitely my favorite. They both go above and beyond!
Describe your experience with OU Physicians Reproductive Health.
My only complaint is that nothing is done electronically other than your records. I wish they would utilize their patient portal or email with results. They call patients every afternoon with results so I always feel like I’m on edge waiting for the phone call with a pen and notepad waiting to write things down. I’d feel a lot better if details were emailed so I could refer back to them. I’m also a numbers person so I’d have to take a picture of the ultrasound screen with my follicle count or measurements or write down my husbands semen analysis numbers. I’d rather just be able to access all of that on a patient portal or email.
Describe your experience with your monitoring appointments at OU Physicians Reproductive Health.
Bloodwork and ultrasounds are done between the hours of 7-9 AM. I never had to wait in the waiting room longer than 10-15 mins. Nurses perform the bloodwork and the doctor performs the ultrasounds.
Describe the costs associated with your care under LaTasha Craig at OU Physicians Reproductive Health.
Medication from Acaria online pharmacy for IVF was $3500. IVF with ICSI was $9580. Anesthesia was $500. IVF sperm work up was $315. ART screening was $167. IVF consult was $50. IUI was $350. IUI ultrasounds and bloodwork were $88. Infectious disease testing was $160.
Describe LaTasha Craig's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at OU Physicians Reproductive Health.
She ultimately left the decision up to us and showed us the statistics on SART.org. We have one child already that was conceived naturally 5 years ago and really didn’t want multiples so we chose to only transfer one embryo. She recommended the transfer on Day 3 if we chose to transfer two embryos and Day 5 of we chose to transfer one embryo.

Dr Craig makes sure to ask questions about me that aren’t related to just infertility. And I never feel rushed like she doesn’t have time to answer a question I might have. There have been a few times where I’ve found something on google and have asked her about it and she never got offended or acted like I was trying to second guess her....she has pointed out that by losing weight I can increase my chances, but never made me feel ashamed or guilty for being overweight.
Everyone from the receptionist to the check out person is so encouraging, even in times of distress. I do wish they [OU Phys Repro Med] had appointments for treatment available in the later part of the afternoon...Every nurse I have had experience with except for one has been the best experience I’ve ever had with a doctors office nursing staff....Everything possible that can be billed to insurance has been.... The total cost of the IUI for self pay is $350-$400.
How was your experience with LaTasha Craig at OU Physicians Reproductive Health?
Dr Craig has always made me feel like I was important. She doesn’t sugar coat things, but is able to say things in a way that is to the point but not harsh. I have weight issues and she’s never once made me feel like being overweight was the root cause of my issues with infertility. But she has pointed out that by losing weight I can increase my chances, but never made me feel ashamed or guilty for being overweight. I’m not one to ask a lot of questions but I do a lot of my own research and basically everything that I’ve found has corresponded with the plans Dr Craig has used for me. And the few questions I have had have been explained as to why we haven’t gone a particular route in a respectful manner and didn’t leave me feeling like I was less of a person because I didn’t have the Dr in front of my name. If you are looking for a doctor that only talks about rainbows and butterflies and holds your hand and treats you with kid gloves, Dr Craig is not going to be the doctor for you. But if you are looking for a real human that is rooting for you to be a mom and sets realistic expectations a long the way, then Dr Craig would be a great fit for you.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of LaTasha Craig at OU Physicians Reproductive Health?
Trust that she knows what she is doing, but if you have ideas or questions don’t be afraid to voice them. She will respect your opinion, and even if you want to try something that she doesn’t feel like will be the best fit for you, as long as it isn’t harmful she’s willing to let you try. She really lets the patient guide their steps within reason of course.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with LaTasha Craig at OU Physicians Reproductive Health?
Dr Craig makes sure to ask questions about me that aren’t related to just infertility. And I never feel rushed like she doesn’t have time to answer a question I might have. There have been a few times where I’ve found something on google and have asked her about it and she never got offended or acted like I was trying to second guess her. She just explained why we hadn’t gone that direction for me, or explained why it may not have been good information. She’s never made me feel like I was stupid for bringing something up. I’ve been to doctors where if you mention something they stop short of rolling their eyes and blow you off. I’ve never felt that way with Dr Craig.
Describe the protocols LaTasha Craig used in your cycles at OU Physicians Reproductive Health and their degree of success.
I came to Dr Craig after having tried 3 rounds of clomid and times intercourse and 3 or 4 rounds of Femara and timed intercourse through my OBGYN. After my first meeting we decided to try an IUI on my next cycle. We ended up doing four cycles with IUI and on the fourth cycle I was pregnant! Unfortunately when we went in for our ultrasound it was discovered that I had a septum in my uterus and the baby had attached to the septum tissue which isn’t healthy tissue and so the baby didn’t grow. I was crushed. In the week that followed I expressed my frustration of having to go back for another ultrasound to confirm what we already knew. I’ve always been a okay what do we do next kind of person, and so having to wait was really hard. Once we had confirmation that the baby was attached to the septum we induced miscarriage using cytotec. And once my hcg level was back to the negative range we scheduled surgery to remove the septum. Dr Craig performed the surgery, my septum was very minimal. I should also mention that I had done an HSG with my OBGYN and it wasn’t repeated with Dr Craig and the HSG didn’t reveal the septum. I don’t want to give the impression that Dr Craig missed diagnosing the septum, she didn’t. Once the surgery was complete we did 4 rounds of timed intercourse with no drugs while working on weight loss. Then we did five more IUI’s without success. We are currently saving for IVF as our next step so treatment is on pause currently.
Describe your experience with the nursing staff at OU Physicians Reproductive Health.
Every nurse I have had experience with except for one has been the best experience I’ve ever had with a doctors office nursing staff. The nurse that I haven’t had the most positive experience with I would say it’s because our personalities clash, and not because she is not a good nurse or capable.
Describe your experience with OU Physicians Reproductive Health.
Everyone from the receptionist to the check out person is so encouraging, even in times of distress. I do wish they had appointments for treatment available in the later part of the afternoon, but that just what would work best for my schedule. The clinic opens at 730 and closes at 430. Bloodwork appointments are typically from 730-830 and then IUI appointments are anywhere from 10-1130 am and then consults etc are in the afternoon. I can’t say what the schedule is like for IVF treatments as I’m not at that step.
Describe the costs associated with your care under LaTasha Craig at OU Physicians Reproductive Health.
Everything possible that can be billed to insurance has been. But I don’t have fertility coverage so IUI’s have been out of pocket. The total cost of the IUI for self pay is $350-$400.

Great physician. I need someone to tell me exact what they think and not sugar coat anything. If we need to do something different tell me and don’t waste my time. Dr. Burks did a great job with telling me exactly what I needed and listening to my concerns and planning a course of action.... We started with monitored Medicated IUI’s.... now we are having to move onto IVF. We had to move onto this after discovering that my husband has double Varicoceles...
You have to be an advocate for yourself during this time but OU makes everything so much easier. The clinic is working for you and someone is always there to help.... Many of the nursing staff were fabulous able to answer my questions and ready to explain why and how for everything. It was really nice to know you had someone in your corner.... Each IUI cycle was $350 and the trigger shot was $100.

What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Heather Burks at OU Physicians Reproductive Health?
Make sure you Ask questions if you don’t understand.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Heather Burks at OU Physicians Reproductive Health?
Very helpful and anwsered all questions. Never made me feel like I was stupid for not understanding. Felt as though she was just as disappointed as we were each month of no success, but continued to stay positive and keep trying.
Describe the protocols Heather Burks used in your cycles at OU Physicians Reproductive Health and their degree of success.
We started with monitored Medicated IUI’s. I had been to a previous Physican where we did medicated cycles with clomid and Femara for over a year with out monitoring. I originally saw a different doctor at OU and was transferred to Dr. Butks after he left the practice. She continued with the same protocol for a year and now we are having to move onto IVF. We had to move onto this after discovering that my husband has double Varicoceles and IVF is the best plan after this diagnosis. So in process of saving for this now. On hold until we can save money to go forward.
Describe your experience with the nursing staff at OU Physicians Reproductive Health.
Wonderful and extremely knowledgeable. Many of the nursing staff were fabulous able to answer my questions and ready to explain why and how for everything. It was really nice to know you had someone in your corner.
Describe your experience with OU Physicians Reproductive Health.
You have to be an advocate for yourself during this time but OU makes everything so much easier. The clinic is working for you and someone is always there to help. There is a lot of time that goes into infertility treatments and people need to know that this may take longer than you anticipated but they are working to help you achieve your goal. Don’t lose hope because they will help you every step of the way.
Describe the costs associated with your care under Heather Burks at OU Physicians Reproductive Health.
I have really good insurance that covers all ultrasound and Bloodwork for every appointment. So most appointments were just our co-pay. I had a HSG Test that was also covered by our insurance. My fertility meds Femara was covered, however our HCG trigger shot and the cost of IUI’s were not covered. Each IUI cycle was $350 and the trigger shot was $100. We are currently saving for IVF which the actual cost is unknown since we haven’t started the treatment. Costs vary greatly from person to person but we have one time IVF benefits with our insurance so it will be much less out of pocket for us than normal.

I have went thru several losses including a stillbirth so Dr Hanson worked thru my anxiety of doing treatments. He has changed my treatments to fit me not just text book treatments. The first retrieval I felt like it wasn't going to be successful and Dr Hanson kept talking to me about positivity and keeping my faith.... 1st retrieval- follistim, ganirelix, menopur 75mg, and trigger shot. 14 eggs retrieved, 13 fertilized without assistance, 2 "B+" eggs, 9 "B" eggs, 2 "C" eggs. The 2 "B+" eggs were transferred on day 5 the rest did not make it to freeze. Negative pregnancy test. 2nd retrieval- birth control, lupron, follistim, menopur, trigger shot. 18 eggs retrieved, 16 fertilized on their own, transferred 2 grade "B" on day 3, 2 made it to freeze. Negative pregnancy
Billing department [at OU Physicians Reproductive Health] could use some help because they couldn't get Attain program corrected in during billing process but everything else was great. Make sure to have your insurance in order. Know your benefits and contact them if you have questions... 8900 for single egg retrieval and transfer. We chose to do the Attain program so it gave us more chances

Dr. Craig was wonderful and did the best she could, but on one transfer day she mistaken said that our embryos looked good when we were only transferring one embryo that day. In fact, it was our last embryo. I'm certain she was just reporting what she had heard from her nurse or the embryologist, but it looked really bad. I mean, did they even transfer OUR embryo a few minutes later?
Our prescriptions were not called in on time for a frozen transfer. When asked about it she [the nurse at OU Physicians Reproductive Health] told me that our GC was on the injectables for "far longer than she needed to be and delaying a day or 2 would not hurt". In other words, she acted like it wasn't a big deal. I was frustrated because 1) why not just apologize? and 2) why are we subjecting a 3rd party to more hormones than needed?
How was your experience with LaTasha Craig at OU Physicians Reproductive Health?
Honestly, I really really like Dr. Craig. I cannot recommend her clinic fully because of her staff. Her IVF Coordinator/Nurse was not fully on top of things like ordering our medication on time, etc. She was not friendly (and less so when I called her out on a mistake). You are your own advocate. Double check EVERYTHING.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with LaTasha Craig at OU Physicians Reproductive Health?
Dr. Craig was wonderful. I didn't super care for her IVF coordinator/nurse.
Describe the protocols LaTasha Craig used in your cycles at OU Physicians Reproductive Health and their degree of success.
I took menopor, lupron, an HCG trigger shot, and follistim. My GC took lupron, estrogen patches, and progesterone injections.
Describe your experience with your nurse at OU Physicians Reproductive Health. (Assigned nurse: Amber)
She wasn't on top of ordering medication for our transfer.
Describe your experience with OU Physicians Reproductive Health.
I loved everything except the nurse who failed to order medication for our cycle. Following that, she seemingly avoided us. I really liked Dr. Hansen's coordinator--she seemed more warm and willing to work with us.
Describe the costs associated with your care under LaTasha Craig at OU Physicians Reproductive Health.
I cannot remember beyond the fact that our IVF cycle was $13,000+. I know we paid other large fees, but that was the main one.
Describe LaTasha Craig's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at OU Physicians Reproductive Health.
My doctor recommended we transfer 2 the first time. They froze our additional embryos into separate straws for future eSET transfers because the embryos were AA.
What specific things went wrong at OU Physicians Reproductive Health?
  • Failed to call in prescriptions to pharmacy

We first went through two monitored and medicated IUIs with Dr. Burks before we moved on to IVF at our direction. Dr. Burks had several conversations with us about ICSI, PGS, and transfer options--she was great at educating us and giving us pros and cons while leaving the final decisions to us.... Dr. Burks was our second reproductive endocrinologist and we saw her at a point when we were feeling very discouraged and weary of the process. She was helpful in every way we asked her to be, while also allowing for us to be decision-makers in my care and our process. When we moved to IVF after 4 failed IUIs and the process became more difficult, we felt more confident than ever that we had chosen the perfect doctor for us.
OURM is obviously a huge clinic serving many patients, but we never felt like a number. From insurance coverage to scheduling to recovery, everything was exceptional.... We had insurance coverage so merely needed to meet our deductible, but we did have several conversations about costs for the various procedures and I do know they offered a cash price for self-pay patients. However, when I was a monitor-only patient during my time with a long-distance clinic, I did pay a significant fee for my monitoring appointments that went away when I became a patient.

Dr. Burks told us that we needed to start this journey by me losing 15% of my BMI. Once I had lost that weight she moved us onto using letrozole during cycle day 3-7 followed by a trigger shot. She told us that this would be the method most likely to help with my anovulation. She told us that she has had better luck with letrozole working with her patients who have PCOS. It did work the first round but unfortunately that pregnancy ended in a miscarriage.
OU Reproductive Center is very welcoming and the front staff is super friendly. Be prepared for limited parking or having to walk a little distance and sometimes the wait time for your appointment can be a little longer than desired. I think the longest I had to wait was about 30 minutes. Overall it is a great clinic to use.... Dr. Burks nursing staff were awesome. They celebrated with us during every milestone that we accomplished and also showed us tons of compassion when we encountered set backs.
How was your experience with Heather Burks at OU Physicians Reproductive Health?
Dr. Burks has been a very good doctor during this journey. She has answered all of our questions fully and made sure we understood all the risks and success rates with our treatment route. When I conceived off of the first round of meds she made sure I was seen in a timely manner. Even though that pregnancy ended in a loss she has been very compassionate and has talked us through how to proceed on. She has never been pushy in what type of treatment we should pursue.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Heather Burks at OU Physicians Reproductive Health?
Do not hesitate to ask questions. She sometimes forgets to tell you all of the details but she will answer any and all questions you have.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Heather Burks at OU Physicians Reproductive Health?
Dr. Burks talks with her patients and makes sure that they understand everything that is going on. She does a great job of spending plenty of time with each of her patients and will return phone calls either the same day or the next day.

Dr Hansen was a phenomenal doctor. I found him to be very good at what he does, as well a very kind person. I would recommend him to anyone needing RE services in a heartbeat. I used drugs including Clomid and progesterone shots to prepare for the IUI cycle. I completed one IUI cycle with Dr Hansen, which was unsuccessful, and also did a HSG scan prior to this. I took a one month break before the next IUI and during that time became pregnant with no assistance. I am now 27 weeks pregnant. Dr Hansen was very happy for us! One previous OB mentioned that he had noticed an apparent correlation between patients who had the HSG procedure and subsequently fell naturally pregnant the following month or two. This happened in our case, so we will wonder if maybe it made a difference for us. This other OB theorized that perhaps the HSG dye clbeing flushed through the tubes cleared away congestion in the tubes to increase the likelihood of fertilization.

[Protocols with Dr. Burks] I took Clomid 50 mg IUI - called with positive OPK. It was then changed to Clomid 100mg and IUI...was very nice and polite. I had no issues with her as a doctor. With our IUI's most of the time they ended up on a weekend and we saw the on call doctors...She showed us the price list from taking clomid all the way down to IVF. She let us pick were we wanted to start, we choose to start with clomid and IUI. I didn't feel like she helped guide us on our decision. It seems liked our treatment was up to use on what we could afford. We feel if further testing was done we could have been more successful. It was later discovered that my right tube is blocked.
The average cost for cash paying patients for IUI was $300 [at OU Physicians Reproductive Health-Oklahoma City]...The clinics strength would be the price. The IUI's were very affordable and the clinic hours worked very well for us. The clinic was very and you had to wait longer than your appointment time by 30 mins or longer. The clinic was well ran and everyone was nice and helpful. We are no using a different doctor and he is wonderful and sets the bar really high. I would say the clinic is average compared to the clinic we use now.

She [Dr Craig] was kind, caring and explained things well. It can be a bit of an overwhelming process and would be very helpful if she could hand me a print out of what she covers. They did give me a few papers that needed to be updated....I used clomid, a trigger shot and iui three times. I used femara ( I think is what it's called) instead of clomid because we were afraid that clomid was thinning my lining. I was told that my clomid dosage was considered normal until I started in on a study then my clomid dosage doubled and that was awful!
Some of their [OU Phys Repro Med] strengths are that they are top of the line, always trying new things, always having several clinical trials, very professional, helpful and kind. Weaknesses are just feeling like another patient but I don't know how you can help that with such a busy place. I would really appreciate a printed paper or email that covered each visit....She [RN] was wonderful! She helped us to feel completely comfortable and even excited about the process.

I was told that my clomid dosage was considered normal until I started in on a study then my clomid dosage doubled and that was awful! My mood swings were unlike anything I have ever experienced!!!
Describe your experience with your nurse at OU Physicians Reproductive Health. (Assigned nurse: Michelle Starkey)
She was wonderful! She helped us to feel completely comfortable and even excited about the process. She was so easy to communicate with that I considered her a friend, but she was still very professional! I was actually sad to leave her when our treatment was over.
Describe your experience with OU Physicians Reproductive Health.
Some of their strengths are that they are top of the line, always trying new things, always having several clinical trials, very professional, helpful and kind. Weaknesses are just feeling like another patient but I don't know how you can help that with such a busy place. I would really appreciate a printed paper or email that covered each visit.
Describe the costs associated with your care under LaTasha Craig at OU Physicians Reproductive Health.
around $450 per iui cycle times 4 so a couple thousand dollars. three cycles were completely free because of an experimental trial with male vitamins
