Attention to Detail

Attention to detail is on a 1 - 10 scale, and is scored based on the rate, and severity, of errors committed by the clinic according to the patients.

For example, a severe error might be failing to inform a patient of critical information, while a small error might be failing to call a patient with results.

CDC Success Rates

This is the most recent data from the CDC. The CDC cautions that it should not be used to compare doctors and clinics. This data represents the outcomes of IVF cycles when using a person's own eggs.

For more information please see our FAQs.

Where you see a “?” on the chart, a clinic has done fewer than 20 cycles in this category and age range, so the CDC says showing percentages from this small data set would be misleading and unreliable.

Success w/ Doc Too early to know
Dr Evans was very kind, respectful and heard our requests. We came to her not knowing anything about the journey and while it has taken us some time to finally get things moving, we are excited that we have Dr. Evans as our doctor...she made us feel heard and understood...She only transfers one embryo...Go in with an open mind and lots of questions. Dr Evans is not a stranger to all the "what ifs" and it helps to just ask whatever it is you're thinking.
Glendale [Pacific Fertility Center LA] is not totally accessible to the southbay/ long beach area. Would love to see another clinic either mid-city, or down in Long Beach area. Strengths- they clearly have been successful in helping people start families. Weaknesses- communication, pricing, and accessibility. Need more weekend hours for sperm collection and appointments.

Communication could use some work. Overall ok, but patient has to prompt for answers and questions.

Describe the costs associated with your care under Michele Evans at Pacific Fertility Center Los Angeles.
Consultation, blood work and genetic testing were covered under my PPO insurance. My partner had kaiser and we got billed an insane bill for in house bloodwork that we could have taken the orders to Kaiser for at less cost. Sperm collection and testing seemed reasonable, but all of it is expensive given that insurance does not cover most fertility related tests or procedures.
Describe Michele Evans's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Pacific Fertility Center Los Angeles.
She only transfers one embryo.

We utilized a known donor and there were many complications with having him access the clinic for donations. Also, we have had to prompt for test results, prompt for next steps, and prompt and inquire about our donors results, donation, appointments, bills, etc.

Dr Evans is super thorough and information based. We never left feeling confused about next steps or procedures or medication. If you have a question she will answer you in an email. When we were particularly stressed about a result, she took the time to call us and explain how it was not as bad as we were making it out to be. Also, we got results with Dr Evans, she is extensive in her testing and making sure your treatment accurately follows your personal diagnosis...
The way the office [Pacific Fertility Center Los Angeles] has set up communication is very personal. We had the same receptionist for appointments, same finance person for money questions and the same case manager we talked to every single time we had medical questions. That combined with Dr Evans always emailing us in response left us feeling like we had a whole team behind us. We also are a queer couple and our charts were linked from our very first visit so we never had to explain that over and over and she understood the unique challenges we faced.

Ask the questions you are afraid to! This clinic will answer them and not think you are crazy for asking.

Describe the protocols Michele Evans used in your cycles at Pacific Fertility Center Los Angeles and their degree of success.
Two egg retrievals to make embryos using icsi. Drugs used. menapur, follistim and ganerelix. Lupron or HCG trigger. Embryos were PGTA tested Transfer for wife estrogen pills, vaginal progesterone suppositories, Progesterone intramuscular injection. Both me and my wife have adverse effects to birth control and she adjusted our egg retrieval protocol accordingly to not use birth control.
How competent was Michele Evans at LGBTQ+ care?
If I could give better than A++ I would. She respectfully asked for pronouns and gender identity and never ever mistook one of us seeking treatment as a straight person. This had happened multiple times at another clinic. The default can be to ask someone "your husband" if you present as a woman. Our charts were also linked from the moment we started treatment with her. She understood that this was an endeavor for us to make a child together. She remembered our unique circumstances and LGBTQ identities and respected them.
Describe your experience with your nurse at Pacific Fertility Center Los Angeles. (Assigned nurse: Ana )
very thorough and explained all injections several times and provided calendars and always responsive to emails.
Describe your experience with Pacific Fertility Center Los Angeles.
Strengths: Lgbt friendly, organized, responsive, science based but takes whole patient into account (mental health etc), easy scheduling, personalized care. Weakness: only thing we can think of is if you cant travel, you have to go to westwood for retrievals and transfers. This was not an issue for us but something to note
Describe the costs associated with your care under Michele Evans at Pacific Fertility Center Los Angeles.
$35 two retrievals and one transfer, genetic testing, icsi. Offered us discount on multiple retrievals since we were two women. Also got a 20% discount by using carrot card.

When you have an appointment, [Dr. Evans] sees you 100% of the time. Every ultrasound is with her, not a nurse or PA. She knows you on a personal level and explains things in a very clear manner...She is optimistic in her tone but never gives false hope...it seems when it's not so great news the doctor will always call you to really talk through why something happened and a game plan.
I don't think this clinic [Pacific Fertility Center Los Angeles] could get any better. The whole staff is wonderful. The doctor is lovely and knows what she's doing. Everything is run like a well oiled machine. Just GO HERE! The only slight hiccup I had was sometimes I would get billed for something many months after the fact but this is a minor critique....
How was your experience with Michele Evans at Pacific Fertility Center Los Angeles?
Dr Evans explains things in a very clear manner. She also is very even keeled. She is optimistic in her tone but never gives false hope. I also appreciated (and i've noticed this because In the journey I have gotten both good and bad news) is it seems when it's not so great news the doctor will always call you to really talk through why something happened and a game plan. When it's good news, the nurse will call you. I like that the doctor always gives her time on the phone when it might not be great news. I also liked that Dr Evans is technical and explains a lot of the process, but also does not bog you down with unneccessary details to avoid overwhelming. For instance, after PGS testing, I knew which embryos were euploids but she didn't tell me grading because I guess after genetic testing grading doesnt matter as much. She gives you just enough to stay hopeful and informed. I had an egg retrieval that didn't go as great as we hoped. She retrieved a ton of mature eggs (23) and they matured to 15 blasts but my egg quality was terrible and I ended up with 1 euploid. She really steered me to the best possible outcome and I am now pregnant with my one euploid. She recommended an ERA to give it the best shot, and after discovering endo put me on a 2 month Lupron depot. My first and only embryo took and I am not 9 weeks. I pray this baby sticks but I credit the success so far to Dr evans steady steering of the ship and right recommendations along the way.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Michele Evans at Pacific Fertility Center Los Angeles?
You might have to wait a few weeks for a consultation but she is worth the wait. She has a steady hand and you absolutely want her guiding you on this journey.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Michele Evans at Pacific Fertility Center Los Angeles?
Dr Evans and her staff are all incredible. When you have an appointment, she sees you 100% of the time. Every ultrasound is with her, not a nurse or PA. She knows you on a personal level and explains things in a very clear manner. I had a different IVF doctor with an office ran like a factory (due to his treatment of a certain kardashian sister(s)), after 2 visits of being treated like a farm animal, I had a consult with Dr Evans and never looked back. Not just her, but my nurse practitioner Ana was incredible and the insurance approval person Oyira was wonderful as well. The staff truly cares about the patients and are responsive and kind. They are also there for you and your questions. The office also never had more than a 5 minute wait. They don't overbook their patients. You may have to wait for a consultation but I am so glad I waited a few weeks to do it. There is a wait because she's not overextending herself like many IVF doctors in LA, she is dedicating appropriate time to each patient.
Describe the protocols Michele Evans used in your cycles at Pacific Fertility Center Los Angeles and their degree of success.
I was on Gonal, Menopur, and Omnitrope for stims. We got 23 eggs retrieved, 15 blasts, whittled down to 1 Euploid and 1 Low level mosaic. We then did an ERA, 2 month Lupron depot prepping with Steroids, Crinone inserts, PIO shots, and estrogen pills.
Describe your experience with your nurse at Pacific Fertility Center Los Angeles. (Assigned nurse: Ana Ramirez)
Obsessed with Ana. She was responsive, kind, knew her stuff and gave clear and concise directions for the meds. I have emailed her about everything under the sun and she is always patient with me and very responsive in a timely matter. I credit her as much as Dr Evans for helping me make this baby as she made a stressful journey very low stress.

My insurance covers IVF but I still paid $11K out of pocket for PGS testing, medicine copays, assisted hatching and some other extras.
Describe Michele Evans's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Pacific Fertility Center Los Angeles.
She recommended 1 embryo transfer with euploid.

Dr. Evans has always come in to see me and explains everything in detail whether it be what she will be proceeding with in the room or explaining how treatment will proceed per appointment. Dr Evans has always come in calmly and never felt rushed. Even when medicated cycles have failed she has been met me with positivity and new options. She has allowed us to start from zero under her care. She hasn’t skipped steps simply because others have already tried. She has explained how she feels regarding our potential results and has remained honest yet very considerate through the process.

My PCOS diagnosis results in many polyps and Dr Evans has always scheduled hysteroscopies and has always made sure she sees me for both pre and post op. Her staff will call to check in and schedule next appointment for what comes next for treatment. Starting from zero we have now done one cycle of clomid which she monitored throughout. After it failed she immediately had a new plan in which she wants to see if my body will give itself a chance. She then prescribed Provera to start fresh with a round of Letrozole. She will then monitor again to see if my body responds if at all.

Describe the costs associated with your care under Michele Evans at Pacific Fertility Center Los Angeles.
So far all my medical care has been covered by my insurance as it’s been considered, preventative and diagnosis care
Describe Michele Evans's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Pacific Fertility Center Los Angeles.
Dr. Evans has explained that once we are ready to transfer (3embryosRemaining) she will determine the amount of embryos to transfer once she has thawed and checked their quality. Since the embryos were retrieved by our previous RE this is the way she will decide quality and amount of embryos to be transferred to what can potentially be our last FET transfer

I did not do a retrieval with Dr. Evans because I brought my frozen embryos to her clinic, so I can only assess her treatment for a frozen embryo transfer cycle and an ERA cycle. ... Dr. Evans came up with a plan and we proceeded to do an ERA cycle and added a biopsy to test for endometriosis and endometritis. The biopsies came back normal and the ERA showed I needed just 4 more hours of progesterone.
PFCLA Glendale is the satellite office for PFCLA in Westwood so the only downside (if you dont live near Westwood) is you have to go to the Westwood office for transfers and retrievals. ... They promptly return phone calls and emails about any/all concerns and I never feel rushed with them at the clinic. ... However, these are not frequent visits so it is 100% worth enduring the traffic! The Glendale office is small, clean, quiet, and very lovely. It's very convenient location to folks in the northeast/downtown area of LA.
How was your experience with Michele Evans at Pacific Fertility Center Los Angeles?
We switched clinics and chose Dr. Evans based on her stellar reviews from other patients. After our first consultation, my husband and I agreed that she was the most compassionate and professional RE we had seen. She was incredibly smart and up to date with the research in her field and she never treated us as just another number (our experience with our first clinic). She took the time to review our case, make adjustments to our protocol, and in addition, she was flexible when I asked to add certain drugs, etc to our protocol. She informed us of all risks, outcomes, percentages, etc and never sugar coated the information in a way that made false promises, however, she has *always* been hopeful and optimistic for us (after having two failed FETs with PGS embryos at our first clinic). Furthermore, she is incredibly attentive and responds to all questions via email in a very prompt manner, which is not my experience with our first RE. It is obvious she truly cares for her patients and their wellbeing, and we are so so happy to have made the switch to Dr. Evans and her clinic.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Michele Evans at Pacific Fertility Center Los Angeles?
Don't be afraid to ask her any and all questions about your treatment. She breaks down all the information in a palatable way and will be upfront about your case while also being very supportive. If you need an RE who provides personalized care AND excellent professional medical treatment, she is the RE for you.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Michele Evans at Pacific Fertility Center Los Angeles?
Dr. Evans and her staff and incredibly professional and provide personalized, attentive care with me and her other patients. She takes the time to answer all of my questions, concerns and does not sugar coat anything but rather provides information in a professional yet caring, supportive manner. I have seen 4 REs and she is by far the most incredible one. She has a perfect blend of professionalism and expertise in her field with personalized care and human quality.
Describe the protocols Michele Evans used in your cycles at Pacific Fertility Center Los Angeles and their degree of success.
I did not do a retrieval with Dr. Evans because I brought my frozen embryos to her clinic, so I can only assess her treatment for a frozen embryo transfer cycle and an ERA cycle. After 2 failed FETs with PGS normal embryos at our first clinic, we felt frustrated and needed a better RE who would examine our case carefully. Dr. Evans came up with a plan and we proceeded to do an ERA cycle and added a biopsy to test for endometriosis and endometritis. The biopsies came back normal and the ERA showed I needed just 4 more hours of progesterone. We then prepared for our first FET cycle with Dr. Evans (third one overall) and she decided to change our protocol a bit to address any potential immune or blood clotting issues. She added dexamethasone, lovenox, and claritin/pepcid on top of daily estrogen pills. She also timed my transfer *perfectly* to 124 hours, which is where I tested receptive based on the ERA results. I am happy to report that I am pregnant from the first FET with Dr. Evans! I truly believe that she made all the difference in our ability to get pregnant. We know we still have to pass a few tests but this is a huge milestone for us and our very first positive pregnancy. I am convinced Dr. Evans was the reason why I am pregnant my first FET with her (and 3rd FET overall)!! :)
Describe your experience with your nurse at Pacific Fertility Center Los Angeles. (Assigned nurse: Amada Hernandez)
Amada and the other members of the staff are all kind, compassionate, knowledgeable and friendly. They promptly return phone calls and emails about any/all concerns and I never feel rushed with them at the clinic.

Dr. Evans' costs were comparable to other fertility clinics in the area. Luckily we receive a discount as Kaiser patients so it saves us some money.
Describe Michele Evans's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Pacific Fertility Center Los Angeles.
Dr. Evans was against transferring 2 PGS embryos, and thank goodness we listened to her. After 2 failed FETS at our previous clinic, we wanted to increase our pregnancy odds by transferring 2 pgs embryos. Dr. Evans cautioned against this and gave us all the statistics of high risk pregnancy that twins can pose. Thank goodness we followed her recommendations because we ended up pregnant with one pgs embryo! :)

Describe the specific things that went wrong at Pacific Fertility Center Los Angeles.
There was just one minor incident with my progesterone instructions - Dr. Evans and the nurses mixed up the appropriate dosage for progesterone during my ERA cycle but it was not a major mix up and I was still able to continue my ERA cycle. It was only one minor incident and thankfully it did not affect our treatment! It was a human error!

Dr Evans connected with us like individuals with our own journey. We had recurrent miscarriages before becoming her patient and she expressed compassion and sympathy for all we’d been through. She suggested screenings and tests to figure out more about our history and gave us advice based on research. She is the perfect blend or heart and brains. I trust her completely and know she has our best interest at heart.
[Pacific Fert Ctr ] Strengths: Dr Evans! The offer a payment plan if needed. Weaknesses: the clinic for actual procedures (egg retreivals and embryo transfers) is on the west side of LA, so it’s not conveniently located in relation to her Glendale office....Dr Evans nursing staff was very kind and compassionate....First IVF cycle $7800 Second and third IVF cycles $4200 PGS total $4000 First Embryo transfer $2800

Dr Evans did IVF with PGS with us. We have a history of recurrent pregnancy loss due to chromosomal abnormalities in the babies, so we did PGS to make sure we were transferring a normal embryo. For the egg stimulation we used menupur and follistim. During the transfer phase we used progesterone injections and estrogen pills.
Describe your experience with the nursing staff at Pacific Fertility Center Los Angeles.
Dr Evans nursing staff was very kind and compassionate.
Describe your experience with Pacific Fertility Center Los Angeles.
Strengths: Dr Evans! The offer a payment plan if needed. Weaknesses: the clinic for actual procedures (egg retreivals and embryo transfers) is on the west side of LA, so it’s not conveniently located in relation to her Glendale office.
Describe the costs associated with your care under Michele Evans at Pacific Fertility Center Los Angeles.
First IVF cycle $7800 Second and third IVF cycles $4200 PGS total $4000 First Embryo transfer $2800
Describe Michele Evans's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Pacific Fertility Center Los Angeles.
She recommended single embryo transfer to reduce risks involved with pregnancies of multiples. If the embryo quality was lower she was open to transferring two embryos to increase the chances of pregnancy.

Dr. Evans was very kind and knowledgeable. She was always the one who did my procedures and tests, and explained my progress. Unfortunately, our treatment was not as easy as originally anticipated, so we felt we needed to try another practice to help us try different strategies.... [Protocols] IVF with ICSI, always does PGS testing, only does FETs.... I liked Dr Evans and trusted her, but how busy she was and how the staff needed us to manage them just took a toll on me after a few cycles.
The offices [Pacific Fertility Ctr] and equipment were very nice. Make sure to always check when you are charged because I was overcharged for services my bundled payment plan already covered and I had to have them correct it numerous times.... I received information about cycle results over email instead of over the phone, even when I specifically asked for phone calls. I felt like I had to manage tests and plans to keep the process moving or else they would’ve forgotten to check and our cycles would get pushed back

I felt like I was bothering them with my questions. I had to follow up to get my questions answered and make sure that my tests were moving along so that the calendar for IVF didn’t get pushed back.

Describe the specific things that went wrong at Pacific Fertility Center Los Angeles.
I received information about cycle results over email instead of over the phone, even when I specifically asked for phone calls. I felt like I had to manage tests and plans to keep the process moving or else they would’ve forgotten to check and our cycles would get pushed back (it happened towards the beginning of working with the clinic.) We were also informed too late that tests needed to be repeated before a cycle could begin (because the staff “didn’t know” we were doing another cycle, even though that was the plan with Dr Evans), which also would’ve also pushed back our cycle another month (even though we were waiting the previous month for other test results, we were never informed that we needed to repeat tests to move forward with the next cycle). It was frustrating to feel like I was hounding them for results and making sure there was nothing else we needed to do so our planned cycle wouldn’t get pushed back. I liked Dr Evans and trusted her, but how busy she was and how the staff needed us to manage them just took a toll on me after a few cycles.

PGS testing and then embryo transfer [with Dr. Evans]...We had two normal embryos. We implanted one in 2015 which resulted in a healthy baby girl and then another one in 2017 which resulted in a healthy baby boy in 2018... Visiting her office is a very pleasant experience along with the way she treats you. You can tell she loves what she does and cares...is very measured in her delivery when explaining the process of IVF and sets realistic expectations. She is warm and optimistic and answers all of your questions thoroughly. She explained the risks as well as the unknown factors that may result from egg retrieval to the chances of live birth.
I am unsure of the exact amount [costs at Pacific Fertility Center LA] but it was in line with other doctors we met with...Dr Evans recommended one embryo at a time...The egg retrieval and embryo transfer took place in Westwood. That office is very busy but the visits to her office in Glendale were wonderful. The office in Westwood is beautiful and very clean with an attentive staff...The office is cozy and her personality is very warm and supportive. The office is calming and she is the only doctor in the Glendale office. Visiting her office is a very pleasant experience along with the way she treats you. You can tell she loves what she does and cares.

If you want to attempt the long, often difficult journey of IFV and not be treated like a number then Michelle Evans is the doctor for you. You really get a sense that she cares about you. We met with many doctors and we knew after the consultation with her that she was the person we wanted to work with on this expensive and difficult journey.

Michele Evans provides compassionate care during a really intense, difficult time. My cycles with my own eggs did not have a good outcome, but I'm still happy with the care I received. I've always felt supported, well-informed, well-cared for, and like Michele hasn't given up on me. (We just had to change our goalpost from having our genetic child to starting a family using donor eggs and donor sperm.)
Sarah [a nurse at Pacific Fertility Center LA] has been wonderful to work with. She is open, honest, communicates in a timely fashion, and answers my many questions. She has worked hard to help keep our medication costs down too, which I really appreciate.... Strengths: personal attention in Glendale office, doesn't feel like your typical fertility clinic, really getting to know RE and staff Weaknesses: I don't like going to the Westwood office for retrievals and transfers. It's not as friendly and welcoming, and parking is really expensive!

What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Michele Evans at Pacific Fertility Center Los Angeles?
If you're looking for the personal touch in an increasingly impersonal field, go see Michele for a consultation. Talk with her. Ask her all your questions. Pick her brain. Don't forget that this is a partnership between patient and doctor -- and know that Michele hasn't forgotten that either. She balances compassion, expectations and reality really well.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Michele Evans at Pacific Fertility Center Los Angeles?
My first clinic was a fertility factory. Michele Evans has always been prepared for our meetings, stays on top of current research, has been really honest with us about our chances with each cycle, and truly listens to our questions and concerns. She takes her time with us -- even though I know her schedule is packed.
Describe the protocols Michele Evans used in your cycles at Pacific Fertility Center Los Angeles and their degree of success.
Third OE cycle (first with Michele Evans): agonist with HGH, Follistim, Ganerelix, Menopur -- 4 retrieved, 1 fertilized, 0 blastocyts Fourth OE cycle (second with Michele Evans): agonist with Gonal-F, Cetrotide, Menopur -- 6 retrieved, 4 fertilized, 1 blastocyst (PGS abnormal) Fifth OE cycle (third with Michele Evans): agonist with Gonal-F, Cetrotide, Menopur - 4 retrieved, 3 fertilized, 2 blastocysts (both PGS abnormal)

It all blends together, since we've done three OE cycles and now a donor/donor cycle there. They've worked with us to help keep costs down when possible, which we really appreciate. They also allowed us to use an interest-free payment plan to help finance our treatment.
Describe Michele Evans's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Pacific Fertility Center Los Angeles.
Michele's strong preference is eSET, and she has been completely open about that. She has cited recent studies in her argument for why eSET is best.

She [Dr. Evans] did all the blood work to confirm low ovarian reserve or early ovarian failure. My numbers gave us less than 1% change of an unassisted pregnancy. Due to my age, our course was to use egg donor. She did all the testing for our egg donor, monitoring and retrieval. ... We had I believe 2 mock transfers and a surgery to clear our my lining and scar tissue before our transfer. She also completed our FET of 2 embabies.
I always received personalized care. I never felt like a number or just another patience. Never felt like when I call I was annoying someone. It [Pacific Fertility Center] was very clean and organized. Everyone was very nice and compassionate and caring. ... My husband and I had decided to transfer two embryos- she did a great job at explaining risks. We stuck to our decision.
How was your experience with Michele Evans at Pacific Fertility Center Los Angeles?
Dr. Evans is a very caring physician. She loves being able to help couples like us achieve their family goals. She walked us thru all of the steps personally. She was always available to answer questions, even after hours. She held my hand thru the entire process and saw us thru the other side of our journey. I really could NOT write a review that will do her justice. We love her like family.

Success w/ Doc Too early to know
Dr. Evans is extremely knowledgeable and also very personable. She is kind and straightforward and does truly seem to care about her patients. We are still in process with reciprocal IVF, after 6 failed iuis, so it's been a hard road. She is professional, patient and clear and makes the process as easy as possible, under the circumstances...Dr. Evans consistently takes the time to thoroughly answer all our questions. I feel like I've learned so much from her. She always remembers all the details of our case at each stage and has given us careful and considerate guidance throughout. I briefly had to see another doctor for a procedure so that my insurance would cover it and the quality of Dr. Evans' care was absolutely striking in comparison. She also responds quickly to emails and has set up an office with excellent communication.
The office staff [at Pacific Fertility Center in LA] is excellent. They are easy to contact and very friendly and patient. We've been coming for a while so they know us and I feel like they are all rooting for us. We've worked primarily with Cynthia and also Sarah- they've both been excellent...6 iuis with frozen sperm and letrozole, all negative. She prefers letrozole to clomid. She encouraged me to be more aggressive earlier on, after 3 or 4 iuis. I wasn't ready, but we are back now going through the reciprocal IVF process. Dr. Evans was respectful of our pacing and didn't push us. I wish now that we had moved on more quickly, as she suggested, but that was our choice.

I was referred by a friend of a friend who used Dr.Evans for IVF. I liked her from the get go. She understood my job was very time consuming and each appointment was always on time. She eased my mind by performing my 2nd HSG test since the 1st was a horrible experience i wasn't looking forward to. After my chemical pregnancy she sat down with me to go over the next step- all very thoughtful and understanding.
My 1st few interactions with the nursing staff [at Pacific Fertility Center] was great but as time went on it got more chaotic and I never knew whom to speak with. Didn't always give me the correct medication usage amounts-I had to call to clarify. Billing staff was not always accurate- I had to correct them more than once. Sarah and Ananda were pleasant enough. Cynthia I usually preferred not to deal with...Dr. Evans was present at almost every appointment I had. I didn't just see a nurse. There was a lack of information about medication that I wished Dr.Evans had gone more in depth with me about. She is very caring and honest about the treatment she thinks would be best for you. Her staff never informed me they had moved offices and there was no sign indicating anything. Every appointment was on time and I never waited longer than 10 minutes in the waiting room.

so many blood tests to start off with. Putting me on Levothyroxine .025 mg to help lower my thyroid level. Started me on prenatal vitamins, CoQ10, Vitamin D. Had an HSG test (found polyps- had them removed) Took 2.5 mg of Letrozole for all 3 IUI cycles. Monitored with ultrasounds and used trigger shot (ovidrel). On my 3rd IUI after a positive pregnancy test I did Estradiol 1mg (2x) and Crinone suppositories (2x). Our protocol will change in the future when I try again.

[Pacific Fertility Center Los Angeles] is for the most part on top of things!...never have to experience long waits and am seen almost immediately. They don't seem like they take on too many patients at once...there was an information systems change that happened and some of my history / lab work was lost. As a result, my nurse before her leave by accidentally filled the wrong prescription.
How was your experience with Michele Evans at Pacific Fertility Center Los Angeles?
Dr. Evans is an incredible doctor. After being mistreated and misdiagnosed for many years, she took my case seriously and handled it with care. She thoroughly explained each step of the process and admitted when she didn't know the exact answer. She followed up with me regularly.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Michele Evans at Pacific Fertility Center Los Angeles?
I am not sure how much experience she has with egg donors but assured me that she understood the details and process, and that was reflected in her treatment plan. I would just have an open conversation about that with her and she's totally open to that!
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Michele Evans at Pacific Fertility Center Los Angeles?

As a result, my nurse before her leave by accidentally filled the wrong prescription. There wasn't a clear hand off it seemed.
Describe your experience with Pacific Fertility Center Los Angeles.
This clinic is for the most part on top of things! Overall pretty good staff and I never have to experience long waits and am seen almost immediately. They don't seem like they take on too many patients at once, which I have absolutely experienced at other clinics.

Dr Evans discovered a fibroid that was overlooked by my previous RE clinic . I’m so grateful to her for finding it and removing it. I’ve seen Dr Evans for almost a year now and have nothing but good experiences...You’ll be in great hands...We moved on to medicated IUIs with no luck. We are currently on our second round of IVF. DrEvans always responded promptly to my emails (even on nights and weekends) and answered all of my questions.... My only criticism is that she can't be my OB for full term! She was everything I would want in a fertility doc. Always so responsive to my questions (and I can be really annoying in terms of questions), and while it took me a little while to get pregnant, she got me there!... Failed IUI 4 times Egg retrieval 1- after PGS testing, only 1 healthy embryo.
Everything about the Glendale office [Pacific Fertility Center LA] is great. The Westwood office, on the other hand, is not ideal (parking is so expensive, staff can be a bit rude). Luckily I only went there for transfer and egg retrieval.... DrEvans always responded promptly to my emails (even on nights and weekends) and answered all of my questions.... Helpful, direct, honest. I had poor response and she explained clearly the arguments around cancellation and let me decide for myself. We went forward and got lucky -- even with only two good eggs, we had one successfully fertilize and ultimately become our baby. She did not seem at all motivated by good stats, just by best possible care.
[Pacific Fertility Center] Glendale office is small and calm, not a lot of waiting, great staff. For IVF there are two trips to the Westwood office which is a bit of a zoo, but they have an awesome lab so it's worth it....$7100 IVF cycle fee, $595 anesthesia, $1500 ICSI, about $6000 PGS

I took 5 days of letrozole during my cycle [with Dr. Evans], and a self-handled injectable 12 hours before every IUI to stimulate ovulation...In my case, my egg supply was good, so she was happy to continue as was, and we fortunately did not have to go to IVF as the next cycle of IUI worked. She continued to see me until week 12 of my pregnancy (which resulted in a live birth) and held my hand through every little anxiety and seemingly unimportant question. Most importantly, she treated me as a whole patient, adjusting her course with a huge amount of empathy when my anxiety disorder and phobias came up in the course of treatment.
they [nurses at Pacific Fertility Center] were all so flexible...I like the staff here. It felt like they were on our side, not the normal overworked, harried and unhappy medical staff you see almost everywhere. They were always polite, kind, and thorough...The entire staff including the front desk and the nurses all felt like they were on our side...I took 5 days of letrozole during my cycle, and a self-handled injectable 12 hours before every IUI to stimulate ovulation. I then used progesterone inserts until my next period or positive pregnancy test.
How was your experience with Michele Evans at Pacific Fertility Center Los Angeles?
She was just an absolute delight. Dr. Evans was flexible with my request to continue IUI for a few more cycles so that egg retrieval could be times between college semesters. In my case, my egg supply was good, so she was happy to continue as was, and we fortunately did not have to go to IVF as the next cycle of IUI worked. What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Michele Evans at Pacific Fertility Center Los Angeles?
Get her if you can. For baby 2 we have to go elsewhere, as our insurance has changed and it's possibly the worst thing that has ever happened to me.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Michele Evans at Pacific Fertility Center Los Angeles?
Dr. Evans was amazing to both my husband and myself, but it wasn't just her. The entire staff including the front desk and the nurses all felt like they were on our side.

Oh man, they were all so flexible. We had to have medicine shipped packed in ice, and the mail carriers (UPS, USPS, all of them) in our neighborhood are the absolute worst. When cold packed medicine arrived to me two days late and room temperature, they arranged for a replacement.
Describe your experience with Pacific Fertility Center Los Angeles.
I like the staff here. It felt like they were on our side, not the normal overworked, harried and unhappy medical staff you see almost everywhere. They were always polite, kind, and thorough. This is supposed to be 200 characters long, but I don't really have anything more to say about it.

I honestly don't remember as it's been a few years, but I remember that it was pretty reasonable as we had good insurance.

Describe your experience with Pacific Fertility Center Los Angeles.
Certain follow-ups and outreach just did not happen following my initial consult with the doctor. I was left in the dark about much -- financials, expectations, ordering meds, what I needed to do and how I needed to do it. But the clinic will certainly be consistent with one thing: getting your money.
Describe the costs associated with your care under Michele Evans at Pacific Fertility Center Los Angeles.
Exorbitant: visits, anesthesia out of pocket, meds, procedure. Luckily I had insurance coverage for most.

  • Provided conflicting information
  • Failed to convey critical information
  • Failed to consider drug intolerance

Dr Evans was extremely responsive to any questions...was thoughtful and thorough in her responses to emails, calls and in person discussions during our appointments...took extra care to console me after a chemical pregnancy. I grew to trust her early in our treatment due to her compassion and strong guidance.
[Pacific Fertility Center Los Angeles] was always clean, organized and well-staffed...was able to make appointments easily and the team was able to accommodate and work around my schedule...were a couple of blood tests that I noticed the nurse/staff did not wear gloves which was surprising to me.
How was your experience with Michele Evans at Pacific Fertility Center Los Angeles?
As a patient, I felt informed, heard, valued and advocated for by Dr Evans. I felt reassured knowing that I would be seeing her at my visits because she always was generous with her time and it felt that she was fully present, not distracted or running between patients. She was the first care provider in our infertility journey who showed genuine interest when asking if I "had any questions" about our treatment process.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Michele Evans at Pacific Fertility Center Los Angeles?

Throughout my egg freezing journey, Dr. Chavkin was professional, knowledgable and caring. From the very first consultation, I felt like I'm in good hands. Dr. Chavkin took the time to listen to my concerns, thoroughly explain the process, and answer all of my questions with patience and clarity. I was consistently impressed by Dr. Chavkin's expertise and attention to detail. Her guidance and proactive communication ensured that I was well-informed and comfortable at every step. Their dedication to my well-being and success was evident, and I felt confident and reassured throughout the entire journey.
Dr. Chavkin and the entire team of the [Pacific Fertility Center Los Angeles] clinic were compassionate and attentive in every step of the process. I felt like I was getting personal treatment and they truly cared for my well-being & success...It's a new clinic, spacious, huge seating area. Welcoming environment. The only downside is probably the parking situation, they do not validate so if you parked in the building- you're going to pay at least $15 for parking.

It's a new clinic, spacious, huge seating area. Welcoming environment. The only downside is probably the parking situation, they do not validate so if you parked in the building- you're going to pay at least $15 for parking.
Describe the costs associated with your care under Diana Chavkin at Pacific Fertility Center Los Angeles.
I paid for 3 cycles in advance and it was $17,000 for all 3 of them. Medication prices are not included.

[Dr. Sahakian] was open and flexible, tailoring the strategy to my specific needs i.e. accommodating egg donation from outside the US...The appointments were short, so I had to go in armed with questions...He was particularly supportive when I had a big bleed early on in my pregnancy and it was 50/50 as to whether I would miscarry. He was available by phone throughout the evening that this happened giving my husband and I advice, and booked us in the next day for a check-up
Every decision [at Pacific Fertility Center Los Angeles] was made based on how the IVF cycle was going; egg maturation and retrieval timing was held as sacrosanct. If it was too close to call when a medication should be tweaked or introduced in the cycle, then the clinic brought you in for extra check-up appointments to be sure. If those fell on a weekend or holiday, no problem...The care co-ordinators and nurses who treated me were always compassionate and made me feel like I was in safe and caring hands.
How was your experience with Vicken Sahakian at Pacific Fertility Center Los Angeles?
Going through IVF treatment has been one of the hardest things I've had to go through in my life. My chances of conceiving were unclear based on my low AMH, high FSH, and low AFC for my age (36 years old). Throughout my treatment, it transpired that my egg quality was poor. Dr. Sahakian brought a wealth of experience and skills to the table. His communication style was direct yet empathetic, and he provided swift and precise answers to my questions. From the start, he was open to different options, including using my own eggs versus a donor’s eggs from abroad, which helped me stay as hopeful as possible. The appointments were short, so I had to go in armed with questions as there wasn’t a lot of room to respond to what was often bad news in my case. Sometimes this felt rushed and I came out of them feeling like I had more questions to ask. On the upside, Dr. Sahakian was very responsive to follow up emails, and was happy to hop on zoom calls to help my husband and I process complex and tough information. He was particularly supportive when I had a big bleed early on in my pregnancy and it was 50/50 as to whether I would miscarry. He was available by phone throughout the evening that this happened giving my husband and I advice, and booked us in the next day for a check-up. He saw us weekly after that until things stabilized (I was fortunate enough not to miscarry).
I’m not sure that Dr. Sahakian’s sense of humor is for everyone going through this treatment. Personally, I found most of his jokes to be amusing, well-timed and to lighten the moment making everything more human, but I could understand that this wouldn’t be the case for some. It all depends on what style works for you going through a process like IVF.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Vicken Sahakian at Pacific Fertility Center Los Angeles?
Check-ups are short. Go in armed with a list of questions and flag up front that you have a list so you get through them all.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Vicken Sahakian at Pacific Fertility Center Los Angeles?
Each staff member was compassionate and empathetic to my journey, which certainly made me feel like a human rather than a number. The doctor was open and flexible, tailoring the strategy to my specific needs i.e. accommodating egg donation from outside the US. And the nurses got me through some of my toughest times with their kindness and support. Initially, the patient service could feel disjointed and impersonal. Check-up appointments were quick, and I had a couple different case managers (one of them off-site) during the height of the covid pandemic. This meant that I had to check, clarify, and restate things I’d already said to multiple people. However, once I raised this issue with them, they received my feedback with grace, and this got much better. This responsiveness to my experience further made me feel like a human rather than a number.
Describe the protocols Vicken Sahakian used in your cycles at Pacific Fertility Center Los Angeles and their degree of success.
We used Follistim and Menopur for the stimulation medication. Omnitrope was added alongside these two after the first cycle to help mature the eggs. Ganirelix was used as the control, and Pregnyl as the trigger medication.
Describe your experience with your nurse at Pacific Fertility Center Los Angeles. (Assigned nurse: Care coordinators changed throughout the process)
Initially, the patient service could feel disjointed and impersonal. Check-up appointments were quick, and I had a couple different care co-ordinators (one of them off-site) during the height of the covid pandemic. There seemed to be an issue with internal communication and this meant that I had to check, clarify, and restate things I’d already said to multiple people. I’m unclear on how much the impact of pivoting to working during the pandemic fed into this. Nonetheless, once I raised this issue with them, they received my feedback with grace, and this got much better. The care co-ordinators and nurses who treated me were always compassionate and made me feel like I was in safe and caring hands. There was one nurse in particular who would always come and check on me after my appointments. I bounced questions off her when I felt overwhelmed and unclear, and she reassured me. I remember during my third retrieval when I was in one of my darkest places, another nurse sat with me beyond the end of her shift, just holding my hand and offering words of comfort and hope. She also gave me her email in case I wanted to email her later. That was a very special moment and still brings tears to my eyes.
Describe your experience with Pacific Fertility Center Los Angeles.
I found the clinic to be very knowledgeable, flexible, and dedicated to achieving success wherever possible for their patients. Every decision was made based on how the IVF cycle was going; egg maturation and retrieval timing was held as sacrosanct. If it was too close to call when a medication should be tweaked or introduced in the cycle, then the clinic brought you in for extra check-up appointments to be sure. If those fell on a weekend or holiday, no problem. The key was to get the timing right so that we had the best chance of retrieving the maximum number of mature eggs. In my case where my AFC was low and egg quality poor, this was everything. They also accommodated a back-up option using donor eggs from abroad and worked closely with me to arrange those logistics alongside my own treatment. I was impressed at their commitment and flexibility around this arrangement. I personally would have liked more in-depth onboarding to the upcoming process beyond an email from my care co-ordinator. IVF demands financial and physical commitment, and it’s time-sensitive. I’m the type of person who likes to understand the broad framework upfront. Thus, I would have preferred an introductory call and a sample treatment calendar with potential injection timings to frame our expectations and allow us to roughly plan around upcoming commitments. In the beginning, I also experienced what seems to have been some internal miscommunication and this meant that I had to check, clarify, and restate things I’d already said to multiple people. I’m unclear on how much the impact of pivoting to working during the pandemic fed into this. Nonetheless, once I raised this issue with them, they received my feedback with grace, and this got much better. Lastly, the clinic facilities are well-designed, clean and welcoming. The staff are friendly and supportive, and keep things running efficiently. I always felt cared for and comfortable.

Describe the specific things that went wrong at Pacific Fertility Center Los Angeles.
In the beginning, I experienced what seems to have been some internal miscommunication and this meant that I had to check, clarify, and restate things I’d already said to multiple people. After an unsuccessful first IVF cycle, the doctor confirmed that I would stay on the same medications and dosages for the next round as my body responded well (within what it is capable of doing), yet when I received the medication breakdown from the pharmacy, there was a new medication listed. Upon checking, I discovered that the doctor subsequently recommended adding this new medication but I hadn’t been informed by my care co-ordinator.

[Dr. Vicken Sahakian] is friendly and he is kind. I think he was overly confident with my situation because I am a generally healthy patient with no clear fertility issues other than no tubes and history of ectopics. He answered all of our questions and I felt he was compassionate when we did not leave with a positive test...[he] awarded us a discounted cycle...After choosing to do PGTA, I only had 1 normal embryo. Dr did not recommend transfer of mosaics.
Strength [of Pacific Fertility Center of Los Angeles] is the reception staff and the waiting area. The reception is always kind, welcoming and helpful. The waiting area is clean and modern...Weakness is the poor attitude of the finance department...my care coordinator was disorganized and she did not make appropriate notes in our chart, didn’t return our calls or emails, and did not provide us with results in a timely manner.

Advocate for yourself and do not be afraid to ask questions.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Vicken Sahakian at Pacific Fertility Center Los Angeles?
The finance rep was extremely off putting. Dr. Sahakian awarded us a discounted cycle and I feel that the finance rep treated us differently because of it. Also, my care coordinator was disorganized and she did not make appropriate notes in our chart, didn’t return our calls or emails, and did not provide us with results in a timely manner.

Describe your experience with your nurse at Pacific Fertility Center Los Angeles. (Assigned nurse: Janelle)
My original nurse/coordinator was not professional and completely disorganized. Her work ethic created fear and anxiety for us. After being transferred to a new coordinator, I had a better experience; however, I was at the end of my cycle. It was apparent that the clinic was experiencing some operational changes and challenges.
Describe your experience with Pacific Fertility Center Los Angeles.
Strength is the reception staff and the waiting area. The reception is always kind, welcoming and helpful. The waiting area is clean and modern. You feel like like you are in the best care. Weakness is the poor attitude of the finance department. As a fertility clinic it should be common knowledge that it could be isolating as a patient. There are waves of emotions and patients need to be treated with care and compassion.

the doctor [Dr. Vicken Sahakian] sold the clinic mid cycle and checked out completely. No notice to his patients and no reassurance quality of care would be upheld...Lupron, gonal f, menupour. However absolutely no support on taking supplemental vitamins and no recommendations on acupuncture. Just terrible communication. The results reflect this. Hes checked out...Doctor didnt show to transfer without letting us know. He said he forgot to tell us he would be in hawaii. Further he told our surrogate shes crazy, my mouth fell to the floor. Further he refused to elaborate on his 42% success rate with me other than he doesnt guarantee anything. When I pressed for embryology reports I was told to take a hike in those words. Worst experience in my life!
[The nurses at Pacific Fertility Center are] never accessible...Always providing wrong information at one point they thought they were reading my patient file but uh hum....yes same 1st name different patient records after I took the time to verify my date of birth. All they said was oopsie daisies...When I pressed for embryology reports I was told to take a hike in those words. Worst experience in my life!...After first retrieval coming out of surgery, the billing director asked if she could help me pull my credit card from my purse because there was an IV in my arm. Not sure why this wasnt resolved BEFORE I went in for surgery. It goes on and on...just horrible.
How was your experience with Vicken Sahakian at Pacific Fertility Center Los Angeles?
His bedside manner is horrible. He told our surrogate she is crazy to do this. Further, after an unexplained unsuccessful retrieval he said theres no explanation and he doesnt guarantee anything. However he added if I ever want to have children I need to do another cycle IMMEDIATELY. Yes i made 2 perfect embryos but the doctor sold the clinic mid cycle and checked out completely. No notice to his patients and no reassurance quality of care would be upheld.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Vicken Sahakian at Pacific Fertility Center Los Angeles?
Wait 2-3 more years until the clinic resolves the transition from the sale of the clinic and absolutely monitor clinic results. To be honest I would tell people to run for their lives!
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Vicken Sahakian at Pacific Fertility Center Los Angeles?
The doctor sold the clinic in the middle of our stim cycle. Did not show up for transfer to our surrogate and told me after multiple failed procedures that he doesnt guarantee anything and I can take a hike. Literally exact words used after spending 60k with no results. Horrible experience. Failed retrieval and failed transfer. Doctor refuses to provide certain records. Just a huge mess.

Very weak communication, billing personnel are very disorganized and always reflect balances were owed after I had paid. I literally kept payment receipts on me every time I went to the clinic I knew someone was going to tell me I owed a balance. It's really really bad!
Describe your experience with your monitoring appointments at Pacific Fertility Center Los Angeles.
I was definitely a number. My name was mixed up several times, waits were painfully long and actual screening took seconds. However billing appointments took up to 2 hours per visit. After all I brought receipts and it took them hours to find and resolve.
