Attention to Detail

Attention to detail is on a 1 - 10 scale, and is scored based on the rate, and severity, of errors committed by the clinic according to the patients.

For example, a severe error might be failing to inform a patient of critical information, while a small error might be failing to call a patient with results.

CDC Success Rates

This is the most recent data from the CDC. The CDC cautions that it should not be used to compare doctors and clinics. This data represents the outcomes of IVF cycles when using a person's own eggs.

For more information please see our FAQs.

Where you see a “?” on the chart, a clinic has done fewer than 20 cycles in this category and age range, so the CDC says showing percentages from this small data set would be misleading and unreliable.

Since I have diminished ovarian reserve, I was on many vitamins, prematals and baby aspirin along with lots and lots of injections [protocols with Dr. Shelby Cooper]...once said "would you rather have multiples or not be pregnant at all". That really hit me when trying to figure out how many embryos to transfer. So we transferred 2, sadly ended in m/c...was always professional and treated me as a top notch patient....always!... a kind hearted doctor. We even cried together when he performed by d and c for my unexpected miscarriage, which he came in on his day off. As a patient who has been trying to conceive for almost 10 years, Dr. Cooper has been so sweet and patient along the way. I would drive 1.5 hours, one way, to see him for each appt.
Nursing staff [at Parkview Health] was not top notch or have the knowledge of Ivf procedures but were very kind...Since the nurses were not the most knowledgeable with Ivf, I had to question a couple things when they relayed the info/protocol to me. With having been thru Ivf before, I had an idea of what to expect with protocols, which helped when in this situation...I spent approx $20,000 out of pocket each time we tried ivf...Clinic staff was nice, just not as knowledgeable as I would prefer when working with Ivf patients. It was extremely difficult to rate the new nurses of Promedica, since I spent a few years seeing Dr. Cooper and having his wife, Louis, as my nurse who was AMAZING! So sweet and always there, for the good and bad times of the different stages of Ivf and all the procedures that led up to transfer. Would do anything to have Louis come back from retirement to be my nurse again.

What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Shelby Cooper at Parkview Health (closed)?
He's a gem and comes highly recommended. The downfall, the nurses at Promedica are not the best as being trained for Ivf patients, but Dr. Cooper will take great care of you!
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Shelby Cooper at Parkview Health (closed)?
Dr. Cooper was always professional and treated me as a top notch patient....always!

I have great insurance through my employer (school district), however, with Ivf, all expenses were paid out of pocket. Between the baseline, workup, appts and transfer/retrieval, I spent approx $20,000 out of pocket each time we tried ivf
Describe Shelby Cooper's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Parkview Health (closed).
As Dr. Cooper once said "would you rather have multiples or not be pregnant at all". That really hit me when trying to figure out how many embryos to transfer. So we transferred 2, sadly ended in m/c

He [Dr. Tantoco] used femara for 5 days and gonal f injections for 2 or 3 days depending on what the ovulation ultrasound showed. Then he would stimulate ovulation with an hcg injection and inseminate the next day or 2. The whole process was over 11 days...He is the only doctor that offers the services so if he is on vacation then a cycle has to be skipped...He was very knowledgeable and explained the process. He also liked to talk with patients during procedures.
Nursing staff [at Parkview Health] was always kind and compassionate during each visit. Offers were always made to make each visit comfortable as possible...It is nice to have a doctor offer these services in such a small town. He [Dr. Tantoco] is the only doctor that offers the services so if he is on vacation then a cycle has to be skipped. The staff are excellent and caring. All are very knowledgeable about the procedures and pharmacies that offer the medications for treatment on this area.
How was your experience with Almario Tantoco at Parkview Health (closed)?
Very knowledgeable about the specialty and explained the process. The one thing I didn't like sometimes he was in and out very quickly. He was confident in his plan of treatment and making the treatments successful.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Almario Tantoco at Parkview Health (closed)?
He likes to make small talk at awkward moments which makes it slightly uncomfortable. He is very knowledgeable about the things he discusses and is always researching new things.

My insurance didn't cover medications so that all come out of pocket. The femara pills were relatively affordable but the gonal f injections were $500 per round, and the hcg injections were expensive as well.

Dr. Cooper was obviously very knowledgeable and passionate about his field... Initiated IUI cycle with monitoring and medication including clomid and HCG trigger followed by progesterone suppositories. Rationale was due to PCOS and no conception after 4 unmonitored clomid cycle with timed intercourse. However cycle was cancelled due to unforeseen medical circumstances and told IVF/ICSI became only option.
[Parkview Health is a] Small clinic in small town without too long of a wait for consult or follow up appointments. Was apprehensive about IVF retrieval and transfer being completed in another location, but found that this is common in smaller clinics/towns.... Nurse typically seemed disorganized and put in some prescriptions incorrectly that had to be caught by me as the patient and corrected.

Blood work and initial consultations were about $5000 before insurance and 1600 after. Unsure what IUI cycle would cost as cycle was cancelled before completion
