I am a physician so I like directness. She is OK in bedside manner (she is not real touchy-feely) so that is OK with me. But she is EXTREMELY honest about your chances.

She is not touchy feeling but you are getting the best clinic in Atlanta. I can say this since I am a physician and know that they have been doing this the longest. I got pregnant with my own eggs at 43 and almost 45 yo.

He always finds a way to connect with me. He uses humor to lighten the mood and make things more personable. He is very knowledgeable about updated research and protocols. He recommended supplements for me to start taking to increase egg quality right away. And he is always open to hearing others’ opinions, my opinions and suggestions from my own research, and he encourages me to get second and third opinions if I feel that I need to. He has instilled a lot of confidence and hope in me and my situation.

Ask questions and do your own research. Don’t be afraid to get other opinions!

I started taking CoQ10 and DHEA for low AMH levels following my first appointment with him and he also had me do an HSG test. I have one open tube and one blocked tube. He suggested 3 rounds of IUI before proceeding to IVF, but my husband and I decided to jump right to IVF because of the success rates of the two and because of my good insurance coverage. I completed my first round of IVF this past March. I started the cycle with Lupron on day 1 of my cycle. I then did 300 units of Follistim am and pm in addition to the Lupron starting on day 2 continuing through day 12. I did an HCG trigger shot on day 13 and I had my egg retrieval on day 15. 10 eggs were retrieved, 8 of those being mature. 6 fertilized and 2 made it to blast. We sent the 2 off for PGS testing and both of them came back abnormal (chromosomes). We did not do a transfer. Both are still frozen but we will not be transferring them. I am gearing up for round 2 of IVF soon.

My insurance covered most everything. I had to pay $900 out of pocket for my medication through Avella. And then I had to pay $1000 to meet my out of pocket deductible and then another $2000 for PGS testing. My insurance did not cover that.

We didn’t have any embryos to transfer but we were planning to transfer 1 because of my age (34). He said he entertains transferring multiple starting at the age of 35.

He is very nice. Kind be kind of awkward, but that's good personality. He's very smart and has a great deal of knowledge about MFI. We trust him completely to give us our miracle. He has won many awards in urology. He is one of the top doctors in the country!!

Take notes!!! He talks a lot. Take all the notes you can. And ask for your record so you can look things over.

My husband had to have several semen analysis done. Dr. Witt wanted to run several different tests. He also needed ultrasounds completed, which shown stage 2 varicocele. Dr. Witt conducted surgery. After 3 months, we went back and my husband is now on medication and supplements perscribed by Dr. Witt

I don't like the "office fee" every time we come. Esp when we have to due to a follow up. But infertility is expensive. At least they take some of our insurance.

Good doctor but tends to assume one knows all terms and numbers and doesnt explain unless specifically asked. Given this is such an overwhelming thing already. I feel putting everything as simple as possible is best way to reassure the patient that it is a team effort and they really are on your side.

Do your research about potential course of treatment before committing to it. It may push plans a month but it is better to know what you should expect, look out and hope for throughout the treatment protocol chosen.

Standard ivf process, egg retrieval, procedure of fertilization and PGD/S discussed realistic probabilities of success. 12 eggs, 7 embryos at day 3, 3 made it to day 5, 1 was normal

He said, he wouldn't want to do multiple transfers to avoid multiple pregnancies problems and end with healthy babies instead of premature risky births

Please see above. Dr. Shapiro is smart, compassionate, and direct. He gave me as much time as I needed with him and explained things to me as an intelligent woman who could read and reason and research for myself.

This really doesn't seem relevant, although I have the details. His strategy: be aggressive. At 40+, get as many eggs as you can. IT WORKED.

This is the only clinic I used that reduced rates for each cycle.

Wonderful, caring trustworthy doctor who is funny and straightforward as well. I felt very comfortable in his office and under his care. He didn't try to rush our meetings/ appointments; he understands the sensitive nature of what each patient is going through, and devotes his time, energy and patience to making them feel very care for.

You are in very good hands.

I've only had to pay my copay because I have yet to unergo any procedure.

Dr. Shapiro explains everything in detail from a clinical perspective with pros and cons of each treatment and lets the patient make the ultimate decision. This is the approach I prefer, but I understand it may not be for everyone. While very clinical, he’s also very compassionate. While we would have preferred to not need the assistance of a reproductive endocrinologist, we enjoyed our experience with Dr. Shapiro and RBA and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend him to anyone.

Do your homework before your initial appointment. Know some of the general terminology for treatments and come prepared with specific questions. Bring a notebook!

She was very easy to talk. She explained how fertility and infertility works. She helped us to understand the tests and processes we would go through. She included diagrams to visually show how it all works! We arrived at our appointment and was seen right away.

Dr. Straub's strengths are in the way he explains the processes and makes you feel comfortable to ask questions. I never felt rushed through the process and my questions were always answered. One of the weaknesses I believe is the sheet that is filled out when he is explaining the process. He draws out the chart while explaining the process. This all makes sense in the visit however I think there should be a form with some info printed and then he could draw the process for the situation. I understand everyone's situation is different and a template can feel a little impersonal however after the visit the writing is hard to read and it is hard to review the sheet later.

If you are from Fayetteville or the surrounding area be prepared to travel. Many of the appointments will have to be at the main office in Sandy Springs. He is only at the Fayetteville office twice a month and they do not do ultrasound or blood work.

We attempted 2 rounds of IUI prior to IVF. IUI was a long shot due to a blocked tube. For the process I did clomid, vaginal estrogen and a trigger shot. Neither attempt worked. IVF- blood work and ultrasound on day 2 of cycle. Started taking 225 iu/ml gonal F. Ultrasound and blood work on day 6 of cycle. Continuing with gonal F and started Ganirelix. Completed the gonal F day 11. Completed ganarelix day 12 and took Lupron trigger shot night of day 12. Egg retrieval day 14. 16 eggs retrieved, 9 were mature, 8 were able to fertilized, 4 made it to blastocyst. Waiting on PGS results to see how many are normal and to do FET.

I really liked him. I saw him about 6 times, either for consults, plan of action, scratch biopsy and he called when I was pregnant the 1st time. I felt like he was very smart a knew what he was doing .

ask questions. He always ask if you have any questions and it's your own fault if you don't ask them. He is willing to answer anything, even multiple times.

1. We did fresh transfer with ICIS. I was young and my fertility issue is a tube blockage and my husband had a vasectomy reversal so his sperm was an issue as well. It worked the 1st time, our baby is 2.5 years old 2. went in to use one of our frozen tested (PCG and PDG) embryos) did a typical transfer (BC, Estrogen, PIO). 1st beta was 20. 2nd beta was 6. 3. Currently in cycle. This cycle we did Lupron and a scratch biopsy.

RBA gives a military discount. Our Fresh cycle was about 8K and our 2 frozen were 2K a piece. We had genetic testing that was 1000 to take the sample.

I asked on our 1st consult if we could do 2 embryos and was told no. I was also 26 and it was my first cycle. I understood why he said no, the risk associated with multiple is high.

Dr. Scott Slayden was very understanding of my questions and my concerns pertaining to my egg retrieval. If I needed to schedule an appt to see him, he would find the time to accommodate my schedule to get that going, whether it was in person or on a virtual appointment. He truly had confidence in my case and his expectations were high and it turned out to be amazing results for me. On the day of surgery he made me feel comfortable and at ease letting me know that it was going to be ok and the procedure it self was approximately 30 minutes and before I knew it, I was in the recovery room waking up to my boyfriend (future husband), and Dr. Scott Slayden by my side making sure I was ok.

Make sure you understand you understand your procedure because if you do not it would be advised to speak to your doctor about the whole process, which the nurses will be able to assist as well. Know your insurance coverage, and keep track of every single detail of the whole process. Keep records of communication, medication delivery, cost of medication, and take notes.

I was on a standard antagonist IVF protocol treatment. I was on the two main gonadotropins: follicle stimulating hormone (FSH) and luteinizing hormone (LH). These hormones can also be synthesized or purified in a laboratory and given by injection as fertility medications. HCG was used to trigger my final egg maturation, then The egg retrieval procedure was scheduled around 36 hours after the trigger shot. Quality control throughout the entire process was very important to me with in vitro fertilization. One of the ways they improve quality control in the program is by using highly specialized ultrasound equipment. When I went in for my scans, I was measured and the follicles were growing as indicated by my scan. When it was close to my procedure, I was so ready for my procedure because I felt so bloated and wanted to burst. I was able to retrieve 20 eggs and froze 15 mature eggs. In summary, my doctor chose this protocol because it is particularly useful for those at high risk of ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome (OHSS).

It was efficient and I had no issues with my monitoring appointments. My technician was thorough and explain the procedure and what would be the next step in the process.

My treatment cost was mostly covered by my insurance and my out of pocket expenses were about 2K.

Since my eggs are frozen, I did not have an in depth conversation about the eSET options of transfers. As a patient younger than 40 and older than 35, I was told the best treatment plan is to transfer a single embryo. If I had to pick my options, I would prefer to a multiple embryo transfer to include two embryo transfer. He recommended a single transfer but I would love to have twins and start a family in a shorter period time frame in order to create a sense of a large family.

He seemed to care about my husband and I growing our family whenever met with him. He did not perform my egg retrieval and I was not aware that he was not going to be there. I had a lot of unanswered questions and felt he didn't follow-up with notes from appointments to refer back to.

He's great doctor but please provide note for your patients to refer back to because somethings makes more sense on paper.

my protocol seemed to be very generic. The proctor didn't seemed tailored for me and my fertility issues

It was expensive a d differently not worth the price. I feel like I could have taken the money threw out the window. It was a waste!! I didn't feel important at all.

I only met with him once. His clinic and staff are great. He is a clear communicator, although I am in medicine, and his nurse told me that many people don't understand him, so she went through everything again. There were a couple of comments that were difficult to hear, particularly an analogy of my eggs having rusty rails, but I like that it kicked my partner into gear to say that. His clinic staff have followed up with me comprehensively, even during the coronavirus outbreak. I also liked that he didn't try to mess around with IUI and got right to IVF since I had recurrent pregnancy loss.

Bring your partner with you to the appointment, especially if they are on the fence about fertility treatment.

I always knew I wanted to be a mother, so I was completely devastated after my first miscarriage in 2013 and again in 2014. It was at that moment that I knew that I needed answers, and not just from books or online, but from a licensed professional. I chose Dr. Slayden for a number of reasons but ultimately I believe it was his confidence, knowledge, and gentleness that sealed the deal for me. And I needed that because I was completely lost emotionally. I expressed my strong desire to become a mother and Dr. Slayden was thorough and honest with me and my husband about our challenges. He gave us several fertility options but it never felt like he was trying to sell us. I think that’s what kept me going because for me, some days were really hard but I knew I had a doctor committed to my dream. In 2017, we tried IUI again but this time the results were different. During a Follicle check, he determined I had too many to proceed with an IUI cycle. This was such a big deal because my egg reserve is so low. And still committed to my dream, he did not want me to lose my eggs and strongly recommend IVF. The decision to transfer to an IVF cycle was not easy but after, what felt like an hour call with Dr. Slayden, I was convinced and completely optimistic. One thing that always stands out to me about Dr. Slayden was a conversation he had with me and my husband. My husband asked what are chances were of getting pregnant via IVF and Dr. Slayden answered by saying it’s either 0% or 100%. And I just loved this because he had faith when mine had wavered. He gave me hope, he gave me support, he gave me a sweet little boy born 5/22/2018.

I have actually recommended Dr. Slayden to other women who dreamed of becoming mothers but could not do it naturally. I always tell them to never give up. That even if it does not work at first, to hang in there. To not lose hope. That Dr. Slayden will do everything he can to give you what you are desiring.

I understood what IVF was but that was all. I learned so much from Dr. Slayden that I’ve often considered a career change from management to an IVF consultant. I struggled with a thin uterine lining so Dr. Slayden took this into consideration When writing my protocol. Instead of clomid, he prescribed follistim. After my egg retrieval came the hard part. Every single day I took L Arganine, female viagra, vitamin E, baby aspirin and progesterone. He also performed a procedure to scratch my uterus. This was done to Increase my chances of success. And last by not least, I did an estrogen injection, with the longest needle in the world, every 3 days. On September 4, 2017 i did my embryo transfer and 2 weeks later I was pregnant. I continued to take baby asprin and estrogen until I graduated at 12 weeks.

Unfortunately, I don’t remember everything. Before I began my IVZf treatment, they got me in tough with their finance department who went thoroughly went through everything with me. My total cost of the procedure with medicine and testing was close to 30k

I love dr slayden, he was not just my dr, he was my friend. He knows his stuff and is very educated and experienced. He properly diagnosed me from the beginning. If we had some bumps in the road, which we did. He always was compassionate n always had a great plan. His beside manner was wonderful

1st I had to have surgery to remove a uterine septum n endometriosis, a month later we had our 2nd Ivf , 1st with dr slayden. Had brithcontol n injection. Had a egg retrieval n 5 day transfer. This resulted in a pregnancy, I had a heterotopic pregnancy, I also had a hematoma with this pregnancy which caused premature labor and our twins being born to soon at 21 weeks. 2nd we had a hsg, which came back with issues, then I had to have surgery again to fix the septum n clean out. I then had a scarpe and our 3rd ivf, 2nd with dr slayden with injectables which resulted in a negative pregnancy test. I tried injectables again but the cycle was canceled because I fromed a cyst. Dr slayden suggested we take a brake for a few months and we did. We did a another hsg, come back prefect. Did the same brithcontol n Injection protocol. Had another scrape. Had our 4th ivf and 3rd with Dr slayden it was successful n great pregnancy and resulted in us having our wonderful gifts from God our twins.

Dr. Slayden is a technically proficient physician. And he can be charming to most patients. However, the charm (his primary bedside manner) masks a lack of personal interest in helping patients understand treatment decisions. He seemed happy to continue unrealistic treatments for us (IUI) either because it would bring more revenue or because he knew we would eventually need to do IVF. The problem with this was that for every year and dollar wasted our chances of a pregnancy with even IVF would have been more difficult. Be prepared to ask him hard questions to make your treatment something worth your time and energy.

Educate yourself before any visits/treatments, ask him hard questions every time, demand clear answers about chances of success, and make sure you understand the window of time you have to be most successful with your goal to have a family. Do not rely on him to be in the driver seat for you to get the best care.

I cannot recommend him enough. He made me feel comfortable, and explained all my options. He genuinely seemed like he cared about us as patients. He always took time to talk to us and made sure we were comfortable, and he gave us three beautiful babies.

Just go see him - he will talk you through all your options and help you make the best decision for your family.

We started off with metformin and femara, and then moved to an iui. We were unsuccessful. The next cycle we planned for ivf with gonal-f and an estrogen drug and crinone for progesterone. I didn't have enough eggs for retrieval, so we switched to an iui and that was successful.

I know that I was able to get a plan for my ivf - we got two cycles for about 20,000, and we able to get a refund if they were unsuccessful - minus the cost of medications/

I think we was willing to help the patient decide on a case by case basis.

Dr. Slayden has an easy, optimistic, and relaxed personality. This can be wonderful in the early stages when you want reassurance about the steps ahead. It was nice to have someone so positive that he would be able to help me carry a baby to term. However, after 4 miscarriages with him as my doctor, I wanted more realism and answers.

Be prepared for poor communication with the office staff. If you are a type A personality, this office may not be for you. Everyone seems so relaxed and confident which is great until the protocols don't work.

From the first visit to the last dr. Slayden treated us with respect and helped us create our family. When we recieved bad news him and his staff allowed us time to grieve and didnt rush us out to move on with their schedule. He would personally call to let us know results and allowed us to explore all options and testing to determine what steps were needed next.

Don't wait as long as I did. My only regret is that I didnt seek treatment sooner :)

We used femera, with gonal-f, metformin, folic acid, and lovenox for our lui cycles. Medications were adjusted throughout cycle based on ultrasound results.

You will meet with his NP a lot, but he is extremely knowledgeable and passionate about what he does!

Love Dr. Slayden. He is very compassionate. He does not sugar coat anything. He is very thorough and wants to see me succeed at becoming a mother. He always answers questions and gives any information that is helpful for his patients.

Trust your doctor. While you may not like what he has to say, he knows what he is doing so just trust his treatment and guidance.

Dr. Slayden is a wealth of information and such a compassionate doctor. He understood our desperation for a baby and very clearly laid out a plan of treatment. He is both warm and factual, and put both my husband and myself at ease.
