This is the most recent data from the CDC. The CDC cautions that it should not be used to compare doctors and clinics. This data represents the outcomes of IVF cycles when using a person's own eggs.
For more information please see our FAQs.
Where you see a “?” on the chart, a clinic has done fewer than 20 cycles in this category and age range, so the CDC says showing percentages from this small data set would be misleading and unreliable.
We liked Dr. Lin when we first met him. He was friendly and had a sense of humor. He even provided us with his personal cell number. He did not seem too concerned about our ability to conceive given my age...We did not get a change to speak to Dr. Lin after the first IUI failure to come up with a better plan for my second IUI. The only reason the second IUI protocol was slightly different was because I asked my nurse to change my oral medication.
We initially selected this clinic [Reproductive Fertility Center] due to the location. We then found out that there are several offices where monitoring and procedures are done. The drive was inconvenient...able to accommodate early appointment times...we reached out to our nurse several times by email and did not get a single response.
How was your experience with James P. Lin (OB/GYN) at Reproductive Fertility Center?
We liked Dr. Lin when we first met him. He was friendly and had a sense of humor. He even provided us with his personal cell number. He did not seem too concerned about our ability to conceive given my age, but perhaps he could have been more aggressive in my care given my AFC and AMH. After the initial visit, it felt like we were treated like just a number. We did not have much interaction with Dr. Lin after that, only again when he performed our 2 IUI procedures. The procedures went smoothly, unfortunately they both failed. We did not get a change to speak to Dr. Lin after the first IUI failure to come up with a better plan for my second IUI. The only reason the second IUI protocol was slightly different was because I asked my nurse to change my oral medication.

Brief visits, limited contact
Describe the protocols James P. Lin (OB/GYN) used in your cycles at Reproductive Fertility Center and their degree of success.
We essentially did the same thing for both IUIs with oral medication only. Perhaps he could have suggested injectables or moving onto IVF sooner.
Describe your experience with your nurse at Reproductive Fertility Center. (Assigned nurse: Lori Ruesga)
Our nurse, Lori, was friendly in the beginning when we had our consultation, but we felt that things changed after we began treatment. We ended up taking a break after our last failed IUI. When we were ready to begin again, we reached out to our nurse several times by email and did not get a single response. Fertility can be time sensitive and not receiving any communication at all was really unprofessional.

Describe the costs associated with your care under James P. Lin (OB/GYN) at Reproductive Fertility Center.
We did two IUI procedures, which cost about $1200 per cycle + the cost of medication.
He [Dr. Lin] had a lot of patience with me and answered all of my questions. He also made me feel very comfortable and has a great sense of humor. He was very supportive and has a positive attitude...He explains everything in a way that you will be able to understand and is very patient...He cared about my physical and mental health. He really goes above and beyond to make sure that I was in the right condition before he would do an embryo transfer to make sure I have a higher chance to getting pregnant with a healthy baby...
The staff [at Reproductive Fertility Center] are always so nice and considerate. They all truly care and make you feel very warm. The places are all clean and there’s plenty of parking...She [nurse care coordinator] was extremely knowledgeable and was organized. I knew exactly what was happening because she provided me with a calendar every month that shows the medications I need to take daily and which days I needed to set an appointment to see them. Dr. Lin is an absolutely amazing fertility doctor. He has a great sense of humor and is very knowledgeable. He explains everything in a way that you will be able to understand and is very patient. I spent two years trying to get pregnant naturally but was unsuccessful. I am very grateful that I came to Dr. Lin because he was very meticulous with how he treated me as a patient. He cared about my physical and mental health. He really goes above and beyond to make sure that I was in the right condition before he would do an embryo transfer to make sure I have a higher chance to getting pregnant with a healthy baby.

it took me a little bit over a year before I was able to get my first embryo transfer. I was able to get pregnant with my first embryo transfer. I came to Dr. Lin for consultation on Jan 2021. After a lot of discussion, I chose IVF because there’s a better chance of success. I had to wait until I got my period to start the injections for egg retrieval. With my first egg retrieval, I had about 49 eggs and out of those 49 eggs, 5 embryos were normal. In order to do the embryo transfer, my uterine lining had to be at least 7.5 mm or above but every month, my uterine lining was always around 6-6.5mm. Dr. Lin was very patient and every month, we would try different strategies to get my uterine lining to grow. He explained that it’s like not having enough soil so if you try to put the seed in, the seed will have a hard time to grow. For my first egg retrieval, my uterine lining went up to 9mm so we did a second egg retrieval to see if it can grow big enough again and just do the embryo transfer. My uterine lining grew to be 11mm for the second egg retrieval but unfortunately, my progesterone was too high. Later on, Dr. Lin had me do some estrogen injections on my buttocks and it worked! my uterine lining was around 7.5-8mm. He chose one of the healthiest embryo I had and I also got to choose the gender. And now I am 13 weeks pregnant!

We had a great experienced with Dr. Ivan Huang... compassionate...communication and expectations were clear...took his time to answer any questions we had...responded to our messages through kaiser app in timely manner...We tried clomid during IUI (4 cycles)...one cycle of IVF which resulted in 3 abnormal embryos...single embryo transfer
The clinic [Reproductive Fertility Center] is warm and welcoming. Receptionists and staffs are friendly. They do need to have a better communication between coordinators and doctors. They should provide test results on paper with explanation. Some nurses do rushes through the ultrasounds and does not explain what they are looking at and the result. especially to someone who is new to the IVF world.

I don't remember as it was overwhelmed with all the medications and injections I had to take. We tried clomid during IUI (4 cycles) and I was able to produced more mature eggs however did not result in pregnancy. We did one cycle of IVF which resulted in 3 abnormal embryos.
Describe your experience with your nurse at Reproductive Fertility Center. (Assigned nurse: Lauren Lopez)
She is the coordinator of the RFC clinic in corona location. She is lack of compassion, and seem like she does not want to be there. She rushes through when explaining medications and injection procedures as if it was a routine for her. She was not clear with the instructions and does not take responsibility for her mistakes. Other nursing staffs are nice with warm welcome.

The coordinator did not inform us about one of the medication as it result in us purchasing more medication. She also forgot to include one of the medication n the calendar. We had to ask her 3 times and she stated " I did not know you have that medication." resulting us taking the medication half way of the week prior to egg retrieval.

What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of James P. Lin (OB/GYN) at Reproductive Fertility Center?
Be very clear on your expectations and bring your questions with you to maximize your time during the consultation. Dr. Lin makes himself available to his patients, is ready for your questions and even gave me his cell phone number as a follow up. Never used the cell number but it was a great option. I do appreciate the fact he has done 99% of my ultrasounds and has first hand knowledge of my condition.

Describe the protocols James P. Lin (OB/GYN) used in your cycles at Reproductive Fertility Center and their degree of success.
October 2020, first cycle with letrozole 8 mg per day to measure my ovary tolerance and caused ovarian cysts.
February 2021, had an antagonist cycle
With gonal f, menopur, ganerelix, and ovidrel. Maximum doses for gonal f and menopur. Only retrieved 3 eggs, no blastocyst created.
July 2021, 2nd antagonist cycle, same aforementioned meds with lower doses. Cycle cancelled, zero eggs matured.
September 2021, cancelled cycle due to ovarian cysts.
After the cancelled cycle my husband and I decided to move on to donor eggs.
Describe your experience with your nurse at Reproductive Fertility Center. (Assigned nurse: Jennifer)
Jennifer is wonderful! She has always been compassionate, made herself available for emailed questions or phone calls, and always returned my calls. She thorough explained the process with each IVF attempt and confirmed if I had meds at home or willing to loan clinic meds if needed.
Describe your experience with Reproductive Fertility Center.
The wait time even with a scheduled appointment needs vast improvement. There were times when my husband and I brought our lunches or snacks because we were at the clinic for hours. The front desk assistants are nice and greet everyone, especially during the pandemic extra attention and precautions for everyone. On occasion, their voices project throughout the waiting room and everyone can hear another patients personal matters.
Describe the costs associated with your care under James P. Lin (OB/GYN) at Reproductive Fertility Center.
I am lucky to be able to use employer insurance coverage for up to 3 IVF cycles and full cost of meds after deductible is met. The maximum paid for meds was $1500, all subsequent was paid by our insurance. Of course, when treatments overlapped into another year the out of pocket maximum reset to zero. Thus far, embryo transfers are 50% covered after co-insurance. Still waiting for this opportunity.
Describe James P. Lin (OB/GYN)'s approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Reproductive Fertility Center.
Dr. Lin was very candid on giving us the option for multiple embryo transfer to help increase implantation odds. He and the nurse advised us on the pros and cons due to my age. Ultimately, we were at ease with multiple embryos.
When meeting or talking with doctor park, she individualized my care. She was able to adjust plans after reviewing my status, and didn’t just go with the flow of what was planned. She always made sure to ask if I had questions...She was very blunt at first, but I didn’t take it personal. Once I had my official consultation, she went over different scenarios and was patient as we asked several questions. During my mock cycle, she was able to adapt when she saw how my body was responding to the medications. She provided her input and let me know I could decide how to move forward. She is very informative, which I truly appreciate.
The [Reproductive Fertility Center] clinic is in bigger building, but right by the entrance. It is very inviting and roomy. It has a great welcoming aesthetic. The rooms and lab are always clean. They provide snacks and water. Their reception area is quite large so it makes it easy for multiple patients to not feel crowded. Someone is always available in the front...The staff at the front and lab are always kind and friendly.
How was your experience with Alice Park at Reproductive Fertility Center?
I first met Dr. Park coming in as an outside patient. She did all my ultrasounds to send to my out of state clinic. She posed questions, but then encouraged me to talk to my primary fertility doctor. She was always knowledgeable, which is a huge part to why I decided to switch to her clinic. She was very blunt at first, but I didn’t take it personal. I have only done testing and monitoring so far. I was quoted for a frozen transfer and a full IVF cycle. Prices for FET were reasonable. IVF was on the higher end, but they do offer discount programs (on Full IVF only). They were able to show me comparisons of what costs would be with and without insurance.
Dr. Lin is intelligent and professional. He answered our questions and concerns. But I think there are some important skills to improve like listen to his patient, show support/compassion and most importantly encourage or motivate his patients not to lose hope...He discussed this [eSET] before and he prefer single embryo transfer vs. multiple due to risk factors. And we agreed upon it...I will still recommend Dr. Lin but don’t expect too much... I think there’s room to improve by showing sympathy/empathy to his patients.
I will recommend the clinic [Reproductive Fertility Center]. It’s very clean, spacious and have a cozy ambiance. Parking area is huge. The clinic is nicely located, close to the freeway and restaurants. The surrounding looks safe too. The front office receptionists are all very nice and professional. The nurses, acupuncturist and the financial coordinator are all amazing...After meeting insurance deductible, out of pocket maximum around 11-15 thousand dollars. Not including the acupuncture fees.

Dr. Lin is intelligent and professional. He answered our questions and concerns. But I think there are some important skills to improve like listen to his patient, show support/compassion and most importantly encourage or motivate his patients not to lose hope. I have low ovarian reserve so it took a couple of months before my follicle count went up and we decided to proceed with egg retrieval. During the every cycle ultrasound visit I felt at some point he wants us to do the egg retrieval despite the low count follicle because my egg count won’t improve. But me and my partner were pushing to wait another month for a better count.

I answered neutral because me and my partner didn’t really feel that there is a connection between us and Dr. Lin. I worked in a medical field for a long time and building that rapport with patients is my utmost priority. I’ve been his patient for almost a year and I still feel the same. I think there’s room to improve by showing sympathy/empathy to his patients.
Describe the protocols James P. Lin (OB/GYN) used in your cycles at Reproductive Fertility Center and their degree of success.
I took stimulant injections- Gonal F 225 units, Menupur 2-3 vials ( can’t exactly remember) , Ovidrel and Cetrotide. I responded to the treatment I guess. The follicles were growing. However, I remember during my last ultrasound prior to egg retrieval, the ultrasonographer saw a fluid filled cyst on my right tube which most likely related to the stimulant medication (ovarian hyper stimulation). And on the day of post egg retrieval, Dr Lin mentioned that my uterus was flooded with fluids which caused difficulty with the procedure.

What specific things went wrong at Reproductive Fertility Center?
Canceled a cycle due to clinic error
Describe the specific things that went wrong at Reproductive Fertility Center.
I had a different care coordinator before my current care coordinator. The reason why I requested a change because my cycle was canceled on July due to miscommunication issue or failure of my previous care coordinator to follow through the process. I had my pre-assessment done in June 2021 -completed the US and all the needed testing at their clinic for insurance pre-authorization, gave my verbal consent that I want to proceed with IVF but because the care coordinator forgot that I gave consent the next cycle was canceled due to no insurance pre-authorization yet. I was really upset because that month (July) that we missed the ultrasound could have been a better month when it comes to follicle count. The month of June I had 8 follicles counted via ultrasound. The month of July was missed. The month of August until September was very low count from 1-4 follicles.
I saw Dr. Lin 2-3 times for consultation and ultrasound. Each time, I waited 2+ hours in the waiting room beyond my scheduled appointment time. Once I was seen by [him], the appointments felt rushed...[he] gave us a poor prognosis and essentially told us we would not be good candidates for IVF due to diminished ovarian reserve.
Extremely long wait times [at Reproductive Fertility Center] with no warning if the doctor is running hours behind. The office felt like a "lifestyle" clinic--big glossy photos of babies everywhere. It did not feel like I was being treated as an individual patient...I was seen 2-3 times at this clinic, and each time I had 2+ hour wait beyond my appointment time. The appointments were then rushed.
How was your experience with James P. Lin (OB/GYN) at Reproductive Fertility Center?
I saw Dr. Lin 2-3 times for consultation and ultrasound. Each time, I waited 2+ hours in the waiting room beyond my scheduled appointment time. Once I was seen by Dr. Lin, the appointments felt rushed. I was taking time out of my work schedule for these appointments and driving 45 minutes each way, so it was a massive inconvenience to experience such delays.
Dr. Lin gave us a poor prognosis and essentially told us we would not be good candidates for IVF due to diminished ovarian reserve. I got the feeling that he did not want to attempt IVF on a patient with a lower chance of success because it might lower his success rates. We got a second opinion at a different clinic and had success on our first IVF cycle with that clinic.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of James P. Lin (OB/GYN) at Reproductive Fertility Center?
If you have diminished reserve, be aware that you may be dissuaded from attempting IVF at this clinic.

I dont remember the specifics of our process but we had to start with sperm analysis and egg retrieval. My wife had to do a minor surgery to clear up her uterus for any transfers of embryos. She had to take a list of medications and shots to prepare her for the egg retrieval and transfer of embryos. The medication continued from there as she had to limit her activity for maximum healing and embryo implantation.

How was your experience with James P. Lin (OB/GYN) at Reproductive Fertility Center?
Dr. Lin has been in the ART / IVF industry for a long while, and has a thriving practice. I feel that he is a combination of experience and pragmatism balanced with an affable, relaxed demeanor. Once you are in your cycle, you have access to Dr. Lin via cell phone for any issues that arise. I had a medication spill one evening, and was able to text Dr. Lin and he replied calmly, reassuringly how to handle. The office line also has an after hours service, and you have your coordinator's email as well. But knowing that in case of emergency, Dr. Lin was reachable was a nice comfort / safety.
I am a patient who does a lot of reading, research, and stays in the know about elements of various protocols and trends. I felt that both Dr. Lin was open to my specific questions and gave mindful answers.
One thing I appreciated, and which actually helped me choose this clinic, is that it has a satellite office in Alhambra (despite being Irvine and Corona based) available for monitoring. I was really only reviewing clinics in Los Angeles, and since Alhambra is accessible from LA, it made the difference of ruling out this practice for being OC-based (on distance alone). Dr. Lin travels between OC, LA, and the IE to service his patients, and the nursing and clinical coordinator staff travel with him. I think you have to love what you do, to want to drive into three different offices each week.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of James P. Lin (OB/GYN) at Reproductive Fertility Center?
Do your homework, then go with your gut. Good luck!
If you have questions about insurance or payment plans, their billing and coordinator staff are very reachable via email.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with James P. Lin (OB/GYN) at Reproductive Fertility Center?
I interviewed 3 RE's from my shortlist (whittled down via extensive research), and Dr. Lin was in my final two contenders. He is the head of 3 locations and a large staff, but always had a calm, affable demeanor. He felt a like a caring uncle who is relaxed and attentive in his work.
Describe the protocols James P. Lin (OB/GYN) used in your cycles at Reproductive Fertility Center and their degree of success.
Dr. Lin did my third retrieval, after two I had done with another clinic:
Antagonist, Natural Start (no priming). Began stims on Cycle Day 3. Gonal 225, Menopur 225. Cetrotide added halfway through stims. Ovidrel Trigger.
The clinic offers acupuncture services and provides a list of suggested supplements. I had already been doing acupuncture from a sliding scale practitioner (sporadically, 6-months prior), as I believe in acupuncture in general and had begun supplements from "It Starts with the Egg" many months before beginning egg/embryo freezing.
Results are similar to previous two cycles (different clinic) on Microdose Leuprolide Protocol aka Flare Protocol. Gonal 300, Menopur 150. Pregnyl 10000 Trigger. I asked both Dr. Lin and my previous doctor about Omnitrope, and neither seemed to feel it makes a difference.
I like that both Dr. Lin and my previous doctor do not go over the combined dosage of 450 units stims, as other clinics go above this # and that is the highest dose that is statistically significant to make an impact. This is the first round that I created embryos, so I am awaiting more results.
Describe your experience with Reproductive Fertility Center.
The clinic has a professional staff of all women. When I called the main line, I always got ahold of someone during business hours (Saturdays as well). If the person answering did not have the information, someone got back to me within a timely fashion. I found all the nurses capable and professional.
Michelle who runs the front desk at Alhambra on monitoring days was 100% on top of things, with a friendly, caring demeanor, as well as a crisp professionalism. Based on her demeanor alone, I was inclined to shortlist this clinic for my care. I like that they have different locations for monitoring, as I would not have considered this clinic without their Alhambra monitoring branch.
When I called my shortlist, I was able to get scheduled with Dr. Lin for a consultation ahead of schedule compared to a lot of other offices. Dr. Lin works a lot of hours (three locations) and enjoys his work. I never had to see a backup doctor during my care. I like that women generally run the day-to-day here, since fertility is a very female-centric experience.
Dr. Lin provides his cell for patients that are actively cycling, and I was able to get a response immediately when I had a medication spill. Do be prepared to drive to the Irvine or Corona office if you are an Alhambra patient, as that location is only a satellite office for monitoring (bloodwork, ultrasounds) and consultations. Procedures are conducted at Irvine or Corona (I never had to go to Corona).
Dr. Lin is very experienced and has been in the IVF game. My previous doctor was young and perhaps more up on the minute-to-minute trends and evolution of ART, which was a positive. However, the monitoring, being treated like human being (not a number), cleanliness and organization of the clinic was also strong here. My questions were answered respectfully and kindly.
Describe the costs associated with your care under James P. Lin (OB/GYN) at Reproductive Fertility Center.
Initially I consulted with RFC under OOP pricing. The fees were comparable with two other Los Angeles Clinics I had consults with for OOP.
When I ended up undergoing treatment here, I was covered under insurance, so the pricing was based on my health plan.
Describe James P. Lin (OB/GYN)'s approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Reproductive Fertility Center.
I believe Dr. Lin chooses single embryo, but we did not discuss in detail, since I am at the freezing stage. Personally, I would only feel comfortable with single embryo transfer due to the risks.
Dr Lin took the time to learn about me as a person, my unique issues with fertility and causes. I didn’t feel like he followed a standard plan since every person and circumstance is different. Based on my age and complexities, I also appreciated that he took the time to explain my options and why some work better than others for me specifically. I appreciated that support to help me make informed decisions about my treatment.
...the entire team [at Reproductive Fertility Center] have been amazing. They meet their promises - when they say you will hear from them by x, they follow thru - they are considerate, clear in communication, and organized. I appreciated having them be part of my care team...Clinic is clean, organized, modern, welcoming.
How was your experience with James P. Lin (OB/GYN) at Reproductive Fertility Center?
Dr Lin is extremely knowledgeable and has a wealth of experience. He is methodical in his approach, takes the time to explain his strategy and reason behind it, in a way that made perfect sense to me. He presented options clearly which helped me make informed decisions. I appreciated my time with Dr Lin and I only trusted my care in his hands. I had opportunities to see other MDs and decided he is the best fit for our needs.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of James P. Lin (OB/GYN) at Reproductive Fertility Center?
As you meet with Dr Lin, have your questions ready, listen closely and ask clarifying questions. When prompted, he is very good to expand on his reasoning to help put your mind at ease. Early on I would walk away without answers, then realized it is my job to speak up when I don’t understand something. Once I started doing that, I got the answers that I needed.

Egg retrieval - used Follistim, Menopur, Ganirelix, Ovidrel. I also needed to have fibroid removal - done as outpatient by Dr Lin himself. Post egg implantation, took estrogen (dose adapted based on my labs), progesterone suppositories and injection in oil, and multivitamins.
Describe your experience with your nurse at Reproductive Fertility Center. (Assigned nurse: Paula)
Paula, Janelle, Adrienne and just the entire team have been amazing. They meet their promises - when they say you will hear from them by x, they follow thru - they are considerate, clear in communication, and organized. I appreciated having them be part of my care team.
Describe your experience with Reproductive Fertility Center.
Clinic is clean, organized, modern, welcoming. The team works well together, has a repeatable strategy and it’s executed well. As a patient, you have so many questions and early on it is so hard to know what to expect….also accounting for all the emotions, it can be a lot. Having a team to direct you, explain the steps and follow thru is very helpful
Describe the costs associated with your care under James P. Lin (OB/GYN) at Reproductive Fertility Center.
My work offers supplemental insurance that covers a portion of the costs. That process has been difficult, but of no fault to this clinic. Florrie on Dr Lin’s team was very responsive, checked in with me regularly and we devised plans together . I appreciated that support.
Describe James P. Lin (OB/GYN)'s approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Reproductive Fertility Center.
I am of advanced age - we retrieved only 6 eggs, but 3 developed fully. Based on my lower implantation rate risk, we decided together to implant all 3. One of those resulted in an actual baby
Dr. Lin is very good at what he does, and his attitude reflects that. He is not warm and friendly, but I'm not doing IVF to make friends. You go to Dr. Lin for his expertise and high success rates, NOT his bedside manner...He is blunt. You should have your questions ready for every appt. He will scribble numbers on your chart, but you need to be ready to ask him what things mean, and what is the next step.
The [Reproductive Fertility Center - Irvine] clinic has a high success rate, and therefore high prices! Full payment is due up front. At no point was I ever given finance options, so know your plan going in...All of the nursing staff are awesome. They more than make up for the doctor's brusque manner. They remember your name and where you are in your treatment and greet you warmly when you enter. Paula and Tara were great with follow up calls and emails to answer any questions I had

The clinic has a high success rate, and therefore high prices! Full payment is due up front. At no point was I ever given finance options, so know your plan going in. Also, I was surprised how much additional research I had to do on my own to understand the process. They do not do a good job explaining everything beforehand, nor explaining complementary therapies like acupuncture or yoga, that can enhance the efficacy of treatment.
Describe the costs associated with your care under James P. Lin (OB/GYN) at Reproductive Fertility Center.
The prices are astronomical, especially when they do not offer financing. Or if it was available, it was never presented as an option. 2 rounds of IVF, not including meds or frozen embryo transfer was ~$24,000
Describe James P. Lin (OB/GYN)'s approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Reproductive Fertility Center.
Dr. Lin was very clear that in my case, based on my age and health history, he would only transfer one embryo at a time.
Dr James P Lin was very clear on what could be done and what stages he recommended for us to follow. Excellent bed manners and very kind and honest about the results and expectations. During the Covid epidemic he has followed up with us over the phone and letting us know the status and reassuring us that once it's possible to continue we will do so...Dr Lin and his staff have excellent manners and always follow up over the phone and remember you.

We got pregnant before visiting Dr. Lin but we had a miscaraige and due to our age we decided to move forward since we have been trying for a long tome to get pregnant. Doctor Lin was highly recommended by my OB/GYN after our consultation he advised us to start with the UI no more than 3 times. We understood that the % is only 20% but we wanted to try this first as it is less aggressive to the body. We are now waiting to start our IVF hopefully soon after the COVID pandemic.

Describe James P. Lin (OB/GYN)'s approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Reproductive Fertility Center.
He [Dr. Jabara] was saddened along side me when a cycle failed. He spent a lot of time talking with me and going through options (sometimes more than once)... could not ask for a more knowledgeable and caring doctor on this journey. Dr. Jabara is factual and supportive. He was encouraging when I needed and said things that I didn’t know I needed to hear until our conversations. He was straightforward in discussing potential outcomes and was up to date on current research. He is collaborative with colleagues and sought out other options on my behalf. I tried another doctor and clinic and came back to Dr. Jabara to continue the pursuit of my dream to have a child.
Third IVF cycle [at Reproductive Fertility Center] used antagonist protocol with poor response so converted to IUI. Fourth cycle routine protocol with increased Gonal F. Retrieved 13 eggs, 9 fertilized, 6 blasts all had multiple complex abnormalities On PGS...Lizette [nurse] was excellent. She always followed through and did what she said she would do. She responded in a timely manner and was kind

I did 5 IUIs with Clomid and later injectable hormones resulting in one chemical pregnancy and the rest negative. Moved onto IVF, two cycles with routine protocol, donor sperm, ICIS, and PGS. First cycle resulted in one PGS normal embryo, frozen transfer and negative pregnancy test. Did a hysteroscopy and antibody testing all normal. Second cycle adjusted start of progesterone and took corticosteroids. Frozen transfer of one PGS tested embryo resulting in a negative pregnancy test. Third IVF cycle used antagonist protocol with poor response so converted to IUI. Fourth cycle routine protocol with increased Gonal F. Retrieved 13 eggs, 9 fertilized, 6 blasts all had multiple complex abnormalities On PGS.

[Protocol with Dr. Kashani] We did high dose menopur (2 vials) and follisitim 450 units for 11 days instead of the projected 9 because my follicles weren’t growing as expected. I have 1 ovary and we were able to retrieve 18 eggs...She remember details about my personal life and my partners medication condition (lupus). She was and continues to be warm, compassionate, empathetic, and dedicated to helping us conceive. She knows how long and hard his journey has been and still continues to be.
$15000 for egg retrieval, PGS (up to 8 ) [at Reproductive Fertility Center]...Able to get a lot of patients in for ultrasounds and lab draws. They can improve on making sure all needed test are done before Egg retrieval...The NP for the center is intelligent but can don’t expect too much warmth or compassion from her. She is kind but not as empathetic as my amazing doctor. Being a nurse, I have high expectations for other healthcare workers displaying true compassion.
How was your experience with Banafsheh Kashani at Reproductive Fertility Center?
She made me feel comfortable during very difficult times such as my partner not having any sperm is his sperm samples, the fear oF IVF possibly not even being an option for us. She referred us to an amazing urologist who was able to perform a procedure to aspirate sperm from his testicles that we used for IVF. She genuinely wanted to be updated on our progress with the urologist every step of the way. She even called me on her day off. I only know it was her day off because the nurse in her office emailed me to tell me dr Kashani was off today but she should contact me when she returns. 1 hour later dr Kashani called me with such joy in her voice because they finally found sperm in my partner. She is intelligent, honest, realistic while maintaining optimism.

I could not have asked for a better doctor to help me on my fertility journey. She [Dr. Rubal] was incredibly knowledgeable and explained each procedure in detail so there were no surprises. She truly cares and considers each patient when creating a game plan for treatment. ... During my 6 cycles of IUI we did clomid and progesterone. Once we progressed to IVF we did clomid, hormone shots.
They [Reproductive Fertility Center] were clean and friendly. The whole staff was always helpful and the nurses were great at explaining how to administer the medication. They would go over it until you were comfortable doing it on your own. ... It cost around $30,000 for everything including egg retrieval, freezing for a few months, medication and embryo transfer ... I could not have asked for a better doctor to help me on my fertility journey. She was incredibly knowledgeable and explained each procedure in detail so there were no surprises. She truly cares and considers each patient when creating a game plan for treatment. She is incredibly drywall oriented and I was always comfortable asking her questions and she welcomed them knowing that I was nervous and scared to be doing IVF. We are beyond grateful for having a doctor like her!

Describe Lauren Alexandra Rubal's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Reproductive Fertility Center.
We decided to only transfer 1 of my eggs for several reasons. The potential for carrying multiples can create a difficult pregnancy, the babies could have been born too early. I was a already slightly over weight and it could have been more difficult for me gaining too much weight. We just decided to be conservative with it.
Dr Lin is very knowledgeable. I did not expect to see him much after our consultation but I was wrong. He performed every single visit of mine. Every ultrasound, egg retrieval and transfer was done by Dr. Lin. He made me feel like I was his top priority even though I know he’s seeing hundreds of patients. When things weren’t looking as they should, instead of cancelling my cycle he upped the meds and had me come back 3 days later to good results!
Strengths: dr Lin and his team [Reproductive Fertility Ctr] are the best. They make you feel welcome and get the job done. They will give you a detailed calendar and check in with you after each and every appointment Weakness: wait times are pretty bad. Sometimes up to an hour before being seen. They often don’t tell you when a urine sample is needed ahead of time (ps it’s the first baseline appt only). I do wish there was an online patient portal with appt reminders

After every scan and blood test, dr Lin would have a one-on-one meeting to go over everything he just saw and how it reflected my treatment. Every afternoon of a blood test and every afternoon after the egg retrieval it reveieved personal phone calls from my coordinator to say how my levels were and how things were progressing. Emails were answered promptly and everyone was so nice

Describe James P. Lin (OB/GYN)'s approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Reproductive Fertility Center.
Only discussed doing one embryo at a time. No option for two (but we knew going into it that we wouldn’t not consider this as an option)
Dr. Rosencrantz always took the time to explain what was going on, what procedures we should try and what the likely outcomes would be. He has a great way of making sure you understand the reality of fertility treatments with honest upfront information, but has such great compassion and made us feel like we were all a team working towards the ultimate goal (pregnancy).
The clinic [Reproductive Fertility Center-Irvine] was clean and inviting. The wait time was never very long and the staff was always caring. I was able to ship my medicine to them (as it needed a signature for drop off) and they would hold it for me until I could swing by and get it.... The nursing staff was amazing. They were all so caring and accommodating. My care coordinator was always willing to answer my "stupid" questions and did so with such grace and a smile. She never made be feel like I was asking stupid questions and always willing to find out that answers for me.

Describe Marcus Rosencrantz's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Reproductive Fertility Center.
Dr. Rosencrantz definitely explained the trade offs of doing eSET vs. multiple embryo transfers. Since we had done PGS he felt eSET would be a better approach for us. This lowers the chance of multiples significantly, which would have been good for us as I am a small human being and commented to him about my doubts around being able to successfully carry multiples.
Dr. Lin is a data driven medical professional... and provides his clinical insight regarding the appropriate procedures for the gameplan. Dr. Lin is highly professional and yet displays empathy regarding the struggles associated with infertility.... I have a medical diagnosis of a pituitary tumor (cyst) and due to this I have been on medication (Cabergoline) to help reduce my prolactin levels which are important in trying to get pregnant. In addition my husbands sperm were concerning regarding his morphology and motility.
The clinics [Reproductive Fertility Center] strengths is their effectiveness in communicating with their patients the procedures and medication use, etc. The atmosphere is friendly, welcoming and very clean. Describe the protocols James P. Lin (OB/GYN) used in your cycles at Reproductive Fertility Center and their degree of success.
I have a medical diagnosis of a pituitary tumor (cyst) and due to this I have been on medication (Cabergoline) to help reduce my prolactin levels which are important in trying to get pregnant. In addition my husbands sperm were concerning regarding his morphology and motility. Due to this Dr. Lin's treatment strategy was to attempt IUI with oral medications as this was less invasive and a possibility of 5-18% success rate and then move on to IVF (once we were ready and this has a success rate of 50-65%) based upon the data.
Describe your experience with your nurse at Reproductive Fertility Center. (Assigned nurse: Jennifer Cook)

Describe the costs associated with your care under James P. Lin (OB/GYN) at Reproductive Fertility Center.
Dr. Lin tends to be difficult to communicate with. He can be very difficult to understand and I don’t feel that he explains things throughly. I often leave there feeling like I have tons of questions. After he does my ultrasound I meet him in his office which usually consists of him scratching out a script and mumbling something about what he is giving me.... I only did two rounds of IUI with Letrizole. I tried the clomid and it made my body grow cysts on my overies. Ultrasounds were done once a week to monitor my follicle growth. And when he thought my follicles were big enough he would prescribe the trigger
I think the clinic runs very smoothly, I never wait very long for my appointment, the staff is all very nice. Everything is very clean and it’s a calming environment. It was difficult to get a copy of my lab results from them and I had to make multiple calls and said it would take a few weeks, which was frustrating....I haven’t had too much interaction with the care coordinator but when I have she was a little short with me. I felt like she didn’t like what I had to say and was acting a bit out off. I will say that I love the nurse practitioners,

Write down your questions for each appointment because he does make you feel rushed. I always leave feeling like I have unanswered questions.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with James P. Lin (OB/GYN) at Reproductive Fertility Center?
I think the office staff is wonderful and for the most part they make me feel like a human but there are times that I feel like just a number and maybe it is caused by frustration. They do a good job of getting to know you and greeting you by name when you arrive.
Describe the protocols James P. Lin (OB/GYN) used in your cycles at Reproductive Fertility Center and their degree of success.
I only did two rounds of IUI with Letrizole. I tried the clomid and it made my body grow cysts on my overies. Ultrasounds were done once a week to monitor my follicle growth. And when he thought my follicles were big enough he would prescribe the trigger shot and do IUI 36 hours later. I got a paper with all the detailed directions and times of everything.
Describe your experience with your nurse at Reproductive Fertility Center. (Assigned nurse: Paula)
I haven’t had too much interaction with the care coordinator but when I have she was a little short with me. I felt like she didn’t like what I had to say and was acting a bit out off. I will say that I love the nurse practitioners, I feel like I can talk to them, they listen and there is great communication. I often request to see them for ultrasounds because they are easier to communicate with and at this point they can do everything the doctor can.
Describe your experience with Reproductive Fertility Center.
I think the clinic runs very smoothly, I never wait very long for my appointment, the staff is all very nice. Everything is very clean and it’s a calming environment. It was difficult to get a copy of my lab results from them and I had to make multiple calls and said it would take a few weeks, which was frustrating.
Describe the costs associated with your care under James P. Lin (OB/GYN) at Reproductive Fertility Center.
Ultrasounds are $165. The actual IUI procedure $375. Trigger shot $100. Pregnancy blood test $99.
Describe James P. Lin (OB/GYN)'s approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Reproductive Fertility Center.
Dr. Kashani made me feel like her best friend. She made me feel loved and understood. She acted like she could feel like feelings of frustration and sadness that come with infertility. She always had a plan and what our next step was. She explained everything in detail to make sure I understood what we were doing.... Every time I met with Dr. Kashani she got to personally know my husband and I. She cared and made it seem like we were her only patients. She made me feel comfortable and understood. I could always contact her with any questions.
The clinic [Reproductive Fertility Center] felt welcoming and laid out all of the possibilities and options. They understand that finances are a huge part but not the only part of The ivf process. The nurse did not seem very knowledgeable during our consultation. I had a lot of questions that she was not able to answer but wrote them down and called me back, answering all of my questions.... The total cost of IVF with ICIS FET PGS was $22,000

Currently she had me do an HSG test, saline hysteroscopy (which she found something in my uterus), and then a hysteroscopy to remove it. It was very important to her to make sure my uterus was ready for ivf. She made sure to do an extensive amount of tests to make sure there were no complications for ivf.
Describe your experience with your nurse at Reproductive Fertility Center. (Assigned nurse: Lesly )
The nurse was always there to communicate. I could email or call and she would call me right back. Any questions I had for the doctor she would get the answers for me.

Describe Banafsheh Kashani's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Reproductive Fertility Center.
Dr. Kashani will only do one embryo transfer if PGS testing is done. She will transfer two if no genetic testing is done.
At first Dr. Lin and I didn't hit it off. I ask a lot of questions and I don't think he was ready for that. But I was going to him for his expertise, not bedside manner. However, after getting to know him and he getting to know me, we totally gelled. I saw him at every single visit (which I see is a luxury now that I've moved and have been being monitored by another RE) - he did my ultrasounds and always had a consult directly after. I felt really taken care of there and felt like I got what I paid for because I got to see my RE so much. He explained everything in great detail, using technical terms, which I appreciated, so I could look up exactly what he was saying later on at home. He tried to make pleasant conversation based on non-sensitive things he knew about you, i.e.... work, family etc....
Paula [a nurse at Reproductive Fertility Center] was awesome... she worked around my crazy work travel schedule. Where I wish she'd been more diligent was remembering what medicines I needed. Sometimes she'd call on something last minute that she remembered and because I travelled a ton, I'd have to have it called into a random pharmacy in whatever city I was in for work. The staff there is very nice. I've never had a bad experience with anyone. The girls who take blood are the best too. They get it right the first time everyone and it doesn't hurt.

What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of James P. Lin (OB/GYN) at Reproductive Fertility Center?
Set the groundwork for what type of patient you are. Do you want to know everything, or will you just trust him? That way you'll both be on the same page. He can also be conservative, but not unreasonable.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with James P. Lin (OB/GYN) at Reproductive Fertility Center?
Dr.Lin gives out his cell phone number and answers on the first or second ring after 6PM. He will also text you. He remembers personal things about you and uses them to make conversation or jokes every time he sees you. My nurse Paula was incredibly attentive and worked around my crazy work travel schedule every time. I moved to Tampa, FL for work during my first transfer and they checked on me everyday. They also continued my care with my second transfer which I did with them as well.
Describe the protocols James P. Lin (OB/GYN) used in your cycles at Reproductive Fertility Center and their degree of success.
I first did Clomid (50mcg) with timed intercourse. That didn't work. Then we did an IUI with same dosage of Clomid - didn't work. After that I told him I didn't want to waste anymore time or money on IUI and Clomid, so we moved on to IVF.
For my egg retrieval, I was on Gonal-F and Menopur. I was also diagnosed with a low thyroid, so 50mg levotyroxine. That protocol produced 12 eggs with 10 mature 8 fertilized 5 biopsied and 3 healthy blastocysts.
He found a polyp in my uterus that cancelled my first FET and I ovulated through my second FET so on the 3rd time, he added Lupron to my cycle and was taking Lupron, Progesterone in Oil, Endometrin, Folic Acid, Pre-Natal and Levothyroxine. This cycle we transferred 1 perfect XY blastocyst and resulted in miscarriage at 8 weeks.
The cycle I just ended used the same protocol as mentioned above + a pre transfer Endo-Scratch and Heparin for anti clotting since I'd had the previous miscarriage. This cycle we transferred 2 XX blastocyst and are currently 11 weeks pregnant with twins.

I can't remember, but I believe we paid about $12,000 for everything.
Describe James P. Lin (OB/GYN)'s approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Reproductive Fertility Center.
We chose to transfer the strongest embryo first which happened to be my girl. That resulted in miscarriage. This time around, we chose to transfer the two boys knowing we wanted twins. Dr.Lin was in agreement that I was a good candidate for a multiple gestation pregnancy and agreed to transfer both.
What specific things went wrong at Reproductive Fertility Center?
Failed to call in prescriptions to pharmacy
Failed to call with results
Describe the specific things that went wrong at Reproductive Fertility Center.
I've had a few times where my results were never called in to me and when I became an out of town patient, sometimes there were communication breakdowns.
Dr. Saadat saw me for every single visit. He took time each visit to ASK if I had questions and then answer them so I understood. He called me with results, included my husband and I in the decision making process, and never made us feel like we were bothering him. He is truly warm and caring, which makes this whole experience so much easier...My protocol was agonist down reg. This was different than what the other clinics had done.
Elizabeth [nurse at Reproductive Fertility Center] was so warm and caring right from the start. She is incredibly patient and for the first time in this whole journey, I had a nurse that explained my calendar and instructions to me so that I got it. And still was patient when I called with a million questions. She was genuinely so happy when she called with the positive pregnancy result, it was like I was talking to my sister

What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Peyman Saadat at Reproductive Fertility Center?
I would make sure you take advantage of his willingness to answer questions. During an IVF cycle you can get pretty forgetful, at least I did, so it was a relief that he never got aggravated when I would ask the same question.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Peyman Saadat at Reproductive Fertility Center?
All the nurses knew my name, my husbands name and we were greeted warmly every time, both in person and on the phone. The office really cared. Dr. Saadat always remembered us as well, and we never felt rushed. We saw him for every visit. He did all the ultrasounds himself.

Describe your experience with Reproductive Fertility Center.
The clinic is amazing. Staff, all of the staff, are friendly and warm and knowledgeable. Everyone there is pulling for you, and that really helps. You feel very emotionally supported. Office is beautiful. The only downside is parking is expensive, but what can you expect in West Hollywood. Try to find street parking if you can.
Describe your experience with your monitoring appointments at Reproductive Fertility Center.
Monitoring appointments, unlike other clinics, are scheduled when it fits into the patients schedule, as long as that will be okay for the cycle. In other words, anytime in the morning works if we need results same day. Later in the day is fine if the Doctor can wait for results the next morning. There is no set time, so its never like a cattle call.
Describe the costs associated with your care under Peyman Saadat at Reproductive Fertility Center.
IVF cycle was pretty typical for the area. About 10K plus medication. PGS added to the cost, but it is optional.
Describe Peyman Saadat's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Reproductive Fertility Center.
Dr. Saadat discussed everything with us, both pros and cons of single vs multiple
For our first IVF cycle he [Dr. James Lin] used two fresh embryos. He gave us a 75% chance of at least one baby. The attempt failed. Our next cycle we transferred the three frozen embryos, he gave us a 50% chance of success and we had twins. Our third cycle was five years later, we chose to put only one embryo in because we didn’t want twins again and it resulted in a chemical pregnancy. Our final attempt we were going to use our last two embryos, one didn’t survive the thawing process so only one was implanted- we had a healthy baby girl.
I think the clinic [Reproductive Fertility Center-Irvine] is great! The staff is caring and knowledgeable. We chose to use them again for a second pregnancy even though it was over an hour drive because we thought it was worth it. I guess a weakness would be that sometimes Dr Lin ran late, and that was frustrating. He was always so busy.
How was your experience with James P. Lin (OB/GYN) at Reproductive Fertility Center?
He really cares about his oatients getting pregnant. He also cares about his statistical success, so for him to have good numbers we needed to get pregnant so he was invested for himself too. He gives the impression of being a work-a-holic, which made me feel like I was in good hands. He answered all my questions. He was patient. He has a good sense of humor.
We had such a positive experience with him that we went back to him for our second pregnancy, even though we lived an hour away.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of James P. Lin (OB/GYN) at Reproductive Fertility Center?
Choose him, he is great!
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with James P. Lin (OB/GYN) at Reproductive Fertility Center?
He really cared and wanted us to succeed in having a baby. We both went to USC so we would talk about football. He seemed personally invested in us getting pregnant. He took the time to answer any and all questions we had. He gave us his personal cell phone number to call him if we needed to.
Describe the protocols James P. Lin (OB/GYN) used in your cycles at Reproductive Fertility Center and their degree of success.
Wr had tried 2 cycles of IUI with another doctor to no avail. We did 1 IUI cycle with Dr Lin while taking Clomid. He said statistically if IUI doesn’t work by the third time it is unlikely to ever work, so we then moved on to IVF.
I had progesterone shots and suppositories. The shots hurt a lot - even after I was done getting them, and the suppositories are gross - but none of that is Dr Lin’s fault. They were prescribed to thicken uterus lining to increase chances of implantation.
There were shots to get my ovaries to hyperstimulate, which worked - I produced 14 egg.
We did ICSI where he takes the best soerm and injects it into the best egg, the second best soerm into the second best egg, etc.
I don’t remeber all the details, but his office gives out an easy to follow calendar which outlines which medications to take when. They also show you how to do the shots - they even drew on my with a Sharpie so my husband would know where to inject me. They give handouts with explanations for how to do everything.
Dr Lin only transfers 5 day embryos, and for new patients he only does frozen embryo transfers because they have been found to be more effective.

First time I think it was about $25k for egg retrieval, all the medications and doctor visits for two IVF cycles. We paid upfront for a two cycle package at a discounted rate.
The second pregnancy was cheaper because we didn’t need to do egg retrieval since we still had frozen embryos. I don’t remember how much, but if I had to guess, for two frozen embryos cycles including medications and doctor visits, I would say about $11k.

Dr. James Lin went above and beyond for us...made sure to explain all our options in detail...took the time to listen to our concerns and I never felt rushed or like all our questions were bothersome. He personally called and checked in throughout the cycle. My 1st IVF round with him I became pregnant with identical twins...I unfortunately lost them due to preterm labor at 22 weeks and his compassion and sympathy during our next round when we were ready was remarkable. He always spoke truthfully even if we didn’t like the facts but he always had a plan.
The clinic [Reproductive Fertility Center] has multiple locations which makes it convenient for all those blood tests that will be needed...All the staff I encountered were extremely helpful and caring. Wait times weren’t long and you never felt rushed...They have payment options available...[nursing staff] became like family during that time. Very helpful and we’re always there for whatever was needed.

Jackie [nurse at Reproductive Fertility Center] was awesome. She was always on top of my treatment plan/appointments. My medications were always ordered and delivered on time. She was extremely positive, optimistic, and happy during the process which helps a lot because so many mixed emotions come with the treatment process...The clinic is awesome, the staff who works there was amazing.
